The camera arrived when expected (fortunately as I was going on holiday the next day). It’s easy to understand and I’ve no problems using it.
I’m looking forward to getting to grips with the more advanced features, but for now it’s behaving itself very well.
Great to be able to use this camera around water without additional case. Front facing screen , although small , is nice addition for selfies.
Quality good. Additional video setting such as time lap and slow motion have been tried and are very handy for specific filming purposes.
Be aware that when filming in the water camera can switch between settings and stop filming if not locked , due to touch screen. Also front screen does get foggy if using camera around water but this dryers out with time and mist to the lens cover can be cleared of just be taking cover off for few seconds.
Happy with purchase.
I originally considered going for a GoPro or something expensive but then being honest with myself, I don’t need ‘the best’ and looked at cheaper options and doing searches on YT etc, Akaso brand kept coming up. I watched some sample videos done by other buyers and was surprised how good they looked.
I ordered a Brave 7 and I am very happy with the quality. The product is very well made and comes with an impressive amount of accessories. The image quality of both video and photos are amazing for the price and while not studio quality, are perfectly suitable for sharing with family and friends.
Highly recommended.
So far been happy with the delivery and setting up the camera. Easy to activate the 2 year warranty on the website. More info to follow as I use it more
My only issue is the remote failed almost straight away. I have e.mailed Akaso several times …no response at all . I can still use the camera of course but it’s a shame I can not get any help from the company
Everything looks very good upon receipt. Solid built and loving the accessories. Only just received so haven’t yet used it. so will charge and test it out soon this wknd.
as I am new to these cameras I am still learning. But so far so good and as the headline says. I have a great memory recorded on my first outing. I am still laughing now
I have purchased Akaso Brave camera recently and I am quite surprised about the quality of videos and pictures.I will be taking this camera on my dream holiday soon and can’t be waiting to start taking pictures and videos.Thank you
Bought the camera for a trip to Egypt to use at the waterpark and beach trips. Love the fact that its waterproof and seems robust enough. Good build quality and easy to use. Highly recommended.
Only just got it, but out of the box easy set up, lots of features, well built. Away this weekend, will put it through its paces then. So far so good though!
Just got and so far very good. Delivery and product as described. After trip to Disneyworld, Florida, I can now say this camera does everything it says it can do for a value price. Now going to upload the films to get them on a big screen for viewing.
After spending a lot of time researching action camera I decided to take the plunge and purchase the Akaso Brave 7. The first use was an evening with my son swimming in the very rough sea and body surfing the waves. The camera was easy to operate and straight out of the box without playing with any settings we had great footage. The next try was taking a group out gorge walking which I do on a regular basis and attached the camera to my helmet. Again, great stable footage, and the group was really impressed by the photos and the footage which they happily used on social media and trip advisor. On a recent coasteering outing to explore a new area to take groups in West Wales, I took some great footage but unfortunately forgot to screw the front lens on properly and as I result saw it drop into the sea. Although I tried to retrieve it we were by a cave opening and it was too rough to dive down. On my return home I emailed customer services and explained the situation and asked if I could purchase a replacement lens cover as it was my fault. A few days later a replacement arrived in the mail at no cost with them going out of their way to help and support me – totally impressed. My experience with action cameras has been with a well-known brand, you know the one, but I’ll be sticking to Akaso from now as quality, price, and support have excelled expectations. Thank you so much – totally impressed.
Easy to use, great stabilisation and best of all a fraction of the price of other well known brands
A great camera for the price above & below the water .
Bought to capture holidays abroad, well priced for the features, perfect for what I want without having to spend hundreds on a go pro.
Love the price and kit – how good are two batteries and IPX8 rated camera without need for case!
Nice touch remote, though higher waterproof rating for it would be great when controlling camera while doing watersports.
Good camera , stability great and good pictures and video. Why pay more for ones at twice the price . Very waterproof and got waterproof cover for use in winter on the bike . If you do use sound just use sponge cover to surpress wind noise , excellent for job required . And of course if your in an accide
This is my first action cam and I’m pleased with it for the price. I mainly got it for snorkelling and diving while on holiday. I used normal and dive mode and both were good. It’s easy to use, the battery life is good, and it takes good quality videos. The waterproof case is sturdy, easy to use, and completely waterproof. You can’t use the camera touchscreen while it’s in the waterproof case. I haven’t used the accessories yet but it’s great that it comes with so many. It’s useful to have the two batteries and twin charger included with the camera. Great value for money.
I tried to transfer videos via WiFi to my phone but it said it would take hours so I gave up. This could have been due to the hostel WiFi which was good but not excellent. I transferred the videos onto my laptop just fine. I haven’t figured out how to put them onto my phone just yet as they say the MP4 files are incompatible with my device. If I’d figured this out I would have uploaded videos for the review…
I didn’t want to pay 3 or 4 times the price of this for something that will only be used once or twice at the weekend. Took it out for the first time at the weekend and was pleased with the results.
The 4K capture looks great..
I am new in the world of action cameras and I didn’t want spend a fortune for my very first device but I wanted to have something decent. After hours of reviewing independent tests I decided to buy this model. Hope it will be worth. Tomorrow I’m leaving for summer holidays and heavy action tests of this camera.
I have not long had this but from the Facebook community support for advise as to what camera to buy to the help and tips on setting it up and what to and not to do I know this is going to be a great purchase and cannot wait to use it to the full capacity.
I’ve had an older Akaso camera fir a number of years but decided to update it for a trip to Norway. So far it feels a lot slicker than the previous model and definitely feels better built (not that I’ve had any issues with the old camera, just that this one feels better quality). I’ll update once I get back from the trip on how it performs in the field.
I Have had a number of action cameras over the years and yes these have been GoPros.
I lost my last one a GoPro 6.
So I started looking at getting another one but the prices are now a joke. When looking around and doing my research I came across AKASO action cameras so decided to buy the Brave 7. Well you get so much for your money I am very happy with my purchase.
Rob.
Once I had read the instructions two or three times the camera was easy to operate. Image stabilisation works very well. Viewed on my 50 inch television and was very impressed by quality of both pictures and video. Once paired with camera remote control made controlling the camera very easy. The same with the Akaso phone app. I have tried the camera in my sink to test the waterproof capability. Everything seems fine. Haven’t used camera enough to give 5 stars for battery but had no problems so far.
Overall very pleased with my camera and I am looking forward to paddle boarding and swimming in the sea now the weather is improving.
Easy to use nice built but sound is poor quality very disappointing definitely not for motorcycle riding!Manufacturer please replace the double sided tape from the brackets because it’s just came off my helmet and nearly lost the camera luckily I was riding on slow speed!!!!!
Our first camera of this sort so cannot compare to other brands. Bought for my kid to take photos and videos, he LOVES it! Perfect for his little hands. It’s intuitive enough for a child (6y) although he doesn’t understand all the modes, and we are both learning along the way. On mode selection it takes a few minutes to figure out where to touch on the screen to get what you want and get the right mode. e.g. there is a big difference when you select time lapse in photo mode as opposed to video mode. The frame it comes with it great to add to protection and I’ve bought a lanyard for it. Loads of mounts come with it. And where there is a thread it is standard so can use some other kit I have. Picture quality is good enough and has that expected slight fish eye effect as the lens is quite wide.
Used this on a recent family ski trip and regularly use it in the lake whilst open water swimming. I read a lot of reviews indicating the audio on the videos was terrible. It doesn’t sound great when you play it back on the camera when it’s sat in its case but is fine once downloaded. I’m not using it for any serious audio output and it was fine for our needs. The photo quality doesn’t match what you can take on your phone, but the risk of constantly taking my phone in the water was too much so I’m fine that it’s not quite as sharp. But if you’re not intending to enlarge the photos too much then they’re great. The video quality is excellent, we took some brilliant skiing videos with it mounted on a hand held grip and also fixed to chest. The app is a little bit clunky to use, having to always reconnect the camera, but it’s not that big a deal. Overall for the price I paid compared to other brands I think this camera is fantastic.
I use this as an aid at work to watch back jobs I do on tug boats, the video quality is spot on and the stabilisation works really well. Helps that you can keep it filming while connected to the USB charger so no worries of battery dying for me. Quality for money is really good. Only bad point I would say is uploading the videos to your phone takes awhile over WiFi. Be best to just have an sd card reade
Used the camera for cycling, affixed to my helmet and for close up shots and video on a model railway.
Camera great, stabilisation works well giving smooth video when cycling over rough terrain.
Found the buttons on the remote a bit iffy.
Internal mic not good when out cycling, purchased external mic with camera which improves sound. Would be nice if this was included with camera. Still trying to find best position for mic, the wind effect causes a problem.
Found all the accessories that are included very useful. Would be nice if a pouch or camera bag was included.
I had a Yomtom bandit, and it was never as good as this, picture is great, image stabilisation seems good, I’ll be using it on a motorbike mostly but have had it in the car too. It has a car setting that records over content after a time. Battery life seems decent, certainly over an hour, and it comes with a spare. It automatically flips too when uprise down. I got an accessory kit, it’s all GoPro compatible, and also comes with a few attachments already. I am aware of issues folk have mentioned with the waterproofing, so may get the case too. I also have the external mic. So far, it’s a great bit of kit, and very good value. Recommended
I bought this as I’d read quite a few bad reviews about Go-Pros and I’m very happy with the Akaso Brave 7 Action Camera, so far.
I use this camera mounted on a baseball cap to record me driving and jumping my radio controlled cars. Image is clear and stabilisation works really well as I often record as I’m walking and following my cars. Wind noise is non existent and transfer of data between the camera and my phone and OC are effortless. I honestly can’t believe how good the quality is for such a cheap price. 5 stars!
Great camera ok not a go pro but great cheaper alternative if on a budget. do not expect great sound if using in water without a case you do get load popping as it goes in our out of the water but this is to be expected and if you know how to edit you can drop it out. glad I bought this before going on holiday with grandchildren got good footage in the pool and sea.
I have it mounted on my bicycle helmet. It’s a great little camera. Light weight and waterproof. The battery lasts about 80 minutes. It automatically records over itself, so I don’t need to delete the video each I use it. The footage is decent quality. People complain about the audio, but for my purposes it’s not even needed.
I decided to buy an AKASO Brave 7 because it had all of the features I wanted to capture skiing action videos without the high costs that alternatives required. I’m really pleased with the results 🙂
I’m new to this kind of camera, so I have nothing to compare it to. I bought it as a gift to myself as I hope to record some content for my business website in the next few weeks. So far, it seems to work well, but I have invested in the external usb mic as it was recommended in all the reviews I watched. Easy to record and upload from, I’m still paying around with the settings, as I don’t really understand the differences! Video and sound ok for my needs; nice to have accessories such as remote control and handlebar mount included. I will also invest in a chest harness
I can honestly say that this camera is absolutely brilliant. For not a lot of money you are getting a really good piece of equipment.
– Build quality is really good
– picture quality is fantastic
– stabilisation is very good
– battery life is good, about 1-1.5h. Charging time about 2-3h
– audio quality is also good despite the reviews I’ve seen on YT. Akaso must’ve done a good job updating it
– plenty of useful options in a very easy to work out menu
– lots of useful attachments in the box
– using app is also easy and convenient
I use my camera for when I am on my motorbike. I also use it when I am out with kids on scooters and bikes etc.
Definitely recommend this camera for everyone.
My 9yrs old was using he found it very simple to use.
Had a few dashcams when out riding my motorcycle akaso brave 7. so far has been the better one. Would definitely recommend i
I purchased the Brave 7 specifically to use on my mountain bike to record the rides, plus more importantly as a safety camera.
I have used it on 2 recent rides to check the results by viewing on my laptop from the micro SD card used in the camera.
Setting up the camera on my bike:
I had preset the resolution to 4k at 30fps with the Stabilisation set on on. I then attached the camera using one of the supplied mounts conncted below my Garmin Explore handle bar bracket ‘upside down’ as this is all the provided Akaso camera case would allow.
However I was able to use the lock function on the camera screen to enable the image to be rotated 180 degrees to correct the camera’s inverted position. All this requires when the SD card is in the laptop and playing is to again rotate the image 180 degrees to reverse what I had done whilst the camera was fixed on the bike.
To start recording there are 3 options:
1) lightly press the power button on the camera to start recording.
2) activate the voice command in the camera settings to facilitate starting the camera to record
3) remote control to start the recording
Post Ride Video:
Please note that both rides were completed in daylight so I haven’t been able to comment on the camera’s low light performance.
On reviewing the footage I was pleased with the video quality which isn’t GoPro quality however for a third of the price there are no complaints as everything is in focus, crucially the reading of vehicle number plates was very clear. Also the image stabilisation appears to work very well even on off road terrain including cobbled areas.
The sound quality is a different story however as it is patchy at best and needs serious improvement. Akaso can supply an external microphone (which I haven’t yet purchased or tested therefore cannot comment on the quality).
Although if you go on longer rides (more than 1 hour) you will have to stop to change the battery by removing the camera from its case. Alternatively attach a suitable powerbank which you would also need to fasten to the bike frame/handlebars and use the only C type socket on the camera to attach.
This means you cannot use an external microphone at the same time as there is only 1 C type socket on the camera.
I used an existing 32gb card which was fine although I have now purchased a 256gb Samsung one off of Amazon to prevent repeated over writing as the camera will accept up to 512gb.
Just make sure you purchase the correct specification U3, V30 to prevent any recording glitures/failures when recording at 4k 30fps.
The camera comes with many more features which I haven’t had the time to explore/put to the test, including the photo picture quality and rain/splash proof without having to use an additional waterproof case, as yet but will provide an update at later date.
So just an initial view for the very short period of time I have had the camera and for what I need it to do for me which I am more than happy with.
The picture and video quality is great for the price. The battery life held for over an hour. The water resistance is good as the camera fell into the ocean and worked perfectly fine.
I will update this review in more detail once I have had the opportunity to fully test the camera, but in first look it appears to be good quality, quite robust! I took a short video of my living room and the result was stable and clear. Most importantly the audio was clear and did not sound at all tinny when replayed on my phone. As I said, I will update once I’ve had a chance to have a bit of a play with it.
Works great for photos/videos. Love that it has the sccreen on both sides. Haven’t yet tried it underwater.
Only fault is photos take a while to download using the app and the touch screen to delete photos has a few seconds lag, sometimes have to keep pressing the screen.
Used this now for quite a few rides on my cycle. It was a replacement for a GoPro Hero 3. The picture quality and stabilisation is better than the GoPro, not sure if it would be as good as a latest GoPro but at the price and my requirements represents a very good quality/price balance.
Comes with 2 batteries which is handy as I can get 3 hours of recording which is more than enough for me.
The camera feels pretty solid, the interface is very intuitive so no looking through manuals required.
All my GoPro accessories fit ok. Sound is ok not as bad as reported in some Y-tube reviews.
The only gripe I have is that its very difficult to remove the camera from the housing, with cold fingers I want to give up. Going to look at this issue more closely to see if I can mode the housing to make it easier.
Would buy again and am thinking about another for the rear of the bike.
5 stars if it wasn’t for the issue of getting the camera out of the housing.
This was my third experiment with Akaso cameras (EK 7000 & Brave 6 Pro). This was the highest quality/price of the three. The menus and layout of controls to use were good. Batteries last well also. Unfortunately, initially the picture quality wasn’t up to the GoPro Hero 7 Black that I’ve used for a few years but has developed a fault. Not surprisingly at about of the price!
After I got a firmware update, in good light the picture quality can be good,. In low light, it’s not very good. With a moving subject at 60fps Full HD the images are of mixed quality, I found they were better if the camera was static and the subject moving.
Overall for the price, it is a great piece of kit, particularly if used in conjunction with other cameras.
Akaso brave 7 now has the app in playstore to use this camera !
I tested the camera out yesterday on a motorcycle ride with my two brothers and if I’m completely honest this brave 7 video quality is as good as any go pro video footage . The remote control is a little tricky to connect to the camera but I eventually figured it out. To connect the remote control turn the camera on! Scroll settings to find remote control Switch it to on! Then turn on the remote control and press the record and camera / video buttons simultaneously then you will pair the two units together. Thanks for such a fantastic camera AKASO
I bought 5 of these to film some scale ship trials out on the water and they were perfect for the job. I’m not jumping out of aeroplanes or snowboarding off mountainsides so I can’t comment on how they perform in those environments but attached around our trial vessel on suction mounts taking 4K video they were ideal and I bought them for about the same cost as hiring a set of GoPros 🙂 What I really like about them is they’re very small and they’re fully waterproof so I don’t need to faff about with cases. The main screen is bright and clear, there’s also a screen on the front and they come with two batteries, a wireless remote and all the accessories I needed. The only extras I bought were a set of waterproof hard shell cases and the suction mounts. The menu system is straightforward and the setup was really quick, didn’t really need any outside help. Battery life seemed to be as claimed although we’re doing more testing later and will check this out. Image quality looks pretty good although our application is relatively slow and stable so it’s not going to challenge the image stabilisation.
If I have one criticism it’s with the remote control, which is both excellent and frustrating. its excellent because the included remote units are small, Bluetooth, display a lot of useful information and they seem to work well with each camera. It’s frustrating because I have 5 cameras and I want to start and stop them all together but you can’t with a single remote, you have to use all 5 of them which is pretty cumbersome . There is an iPhone app which uses Wi-Fi to the cameras but I didn’t get this to work well, it wasn’t too reliable. You connect to each camera ad hoc so you have to switch Wi-Fi networks on the phone to control each camera. What I’d really like is to connect each camera to my phone Wi-Fi ad hoc and control all 5 at once from the app, but haven’t figured out how (or even if) I can do this. In the end I went round and operated each camera manually which was a shame but I hope in future I can either solve this or hope Akaso do a firmware/app update to improve this. I like the cameras and at the price still give them 5 stars but if this one aspect was fixed they’d be outstanding.
I purchased this camera to use whilst out and about filming, I read the reviews and thought I would give it a go as they seem positive..
I had an issue with the first camera that was sent, but after returning the item I was contacted by customer service and they couldn’t be any more helpful.
I was offered a replacement which I gladly accepted, the communication from the customer service representative was fantastic and very professional, I was given details of when my new camera would arrive, ( it arrived a day early )
I’m very happy with the new replacement and it works great.
Easy to use touch screen clear menu’s.
Very handy remote control.
Lots of clips and extras in the box.
1 thing I have found is the sound, the Built-in mic is OK but not brilliant, it would be fine if you are using the camera to record as a dash cam, or activities, but if you want to use it for other things that needs clear sound use the external mic, ( good price and available from the store ) works well..
Overall this is a great little action camera with lots of extras, it looks great, works well, at a very responsible price.
With fantastic customer support if you ever have an issue.
I bought this action camera with the aim of using it to capture some videos of an upcoming vacation abroad. After trying it out over a couple of weeks, I elected to return it and spend a bit more money on a DJI Action Osmo 3 as I simply needed features that a “budget” camera could not offer.
I did have an issue with the audio recorded with the built-in microphone when using the supplied remote control. The resulting audio was full of interference clicks when the remote was close to the camera (e.g. at bottom of a selfie-stick), which turned out to be a fault with my particular camera. After contacting Akaso support, I was sent a replacement camera which after testing did indeed confirm the fault was with the original unit supplied.
My main issue with this camera is that the ability to download videos from the camera to Akaso’s “Go” mobile editing app via Wifi is great, apart from the fact that this is limited to 1024 resolution max, so you CANNOT download over Wifi anything shot in 2K or 4K. Having to carry around cables and connect the camera to my computer I found inconvenient and would rather simply transfer videos over WiFi. This was the main reason I elected to return this camera and updrade to a bigger budget camera with more features. If you are looking for good image stabalization, fully featured video options etc., then you simply neeed to spend more money on something else.
I guess you get what you pay for, but for me it had too many drawbacks for what I was looking for. If you just want a basic camera, then this camera is well built and works reasonably well. The camera is well built and has a good solid feel to it, Akaso’s support service is excellent in my experience. I’m giving this a 5* rating based on two points:-
1. For the price, you get a good “basic” camera that provides almost everything you need on a budget.
2. Akaso’s technical and customer support where very good and very quick to respond to questions.
Fed into this review when registering my Brave 7 for it’s extended warranty, hence I haven’t actually used it yet, so my star ratings are based on reviewing a lot of You-Tube reviewer asssessments so not viable to go above 4*( saw many reviews, all very differently presented and coming to similar conclusions, but did include criticisms at times [always a compromise somewhere !], so I saw enough to believe what was being presented ). Initial impressions of camera by me – well presented and camera seems solidly made. I’ve bought this camera to wear in a chest harness when riding my motorcycle (been caught out in my car after having a minor shunt. Other driver didn’t accept responsibility, a Court case was required to resolve (in my favour) I now have a dashcam installed (such footage would have made my car incident straight forward to resolve). I wanted a similar capability when on my ‘bike, and intend using the ‘loop recording’ feature on the Brave 7 when riding. The Brave 7 is significantly less expensive than the most famous name in the action camera field, and from the reviews I’ve seen on line, the Akaso Brave 7 will be far more reliable, shouldn’t suffer from overheating, and has long battery-life in use. I can’t really add more at this moment in time, other than I’m very pleased with what I’ve seen thus far.
