This ethernet cable does exactly what it says on the tin. Good quality cable, I got the longer length which is perfect and my internet speed shows it’s working efficiently. Nothing fancy but the price is spot on. Highly recommend.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersSimply amazing.
I needed to connect the ethernet cable from my computer, directly to the router, which was in the other room. So that’s why I ordered this 50ft cable. At first, I was worried that the quality wasn’t going to be great since it’s is so cheap, but that wasn’t the case once it came. It was sturdy enough to be able to run under the cracked between the wall and the floor [check the picture] and I’ve been using it for about 5 months now and it still work perfectly fine.

Only negative is that it doesn’t have a protective casing over the actual connector, so be careful when plugging it in.

    Best Value!!

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersIch habe fr meinen neuen Receiver ein Netzwerkkabel bentigt und mich dann hierfr entschieden.

No reason not to give the cable less than five-star. I prefer blue cables aesthetically but that hardly seems with criticizing. Amazon offers a well-made cable at a great cost per foot price. If you happen to need an ethernet cable this should be on your “must buy” list. Plus, if you’re a prime member there might be a further incentive. The checkout total tax in was less than listed price. Not sure if that applies to all Amazon basic purchases but it occurred on this and another Amazon basics product.

Love the cable. For the quality I would give it a 7 out of 10 as my Telus cable feels sturdier. I’m getting my full internet speeds and experienced absolutely no issues with it so for functionality I would give it a solid 10 out of 10. You can’t go wrong with this product and the price.

My son was staying with us and wanted a direct internet connection in his room for streaming. Wifi was too unstable for this so we bought this cable. It has been th perfect solution to the problem and provided a stable internet connection. The cable was run on a temporary basis outside the house as this was the most direct route.

Weighs less than the Belkin one but maybe it won’t matter. The plugs at the end have a sort of anti pull out feature than might be good but also might pose a nuisance if you are wanting to get it out in an awkward location. To unplug a screwdriver, pen or something like that is good to have to hand. On balance it is probably a good feature as it also helps holds the plug in place.

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersI can confirm this is absolutely a network cable. Consisting of a male RJ45 connector and one end and another male RJ45 at the other. Inbetween them is 15.2 meters (50 feet) of category 5e network cable. Plugging one end into a device and another into another device allowed them to talk to each using the magic of communication protocols.

I received this product buy paying for it and not for a five star review so I can get more free stuff like the rest of the review whores.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThis cable does exactly what you want it to, for a much cheaper price than you’ll pay in an electronics store or Walmart. The cable arrived very quickly, in a nicely sealed and compact box, and connected to my router with no problems. It’s a bit thin, so be careful not to pinch it, but it works great, and for the price you can’t argue!

If you need a long cable to stretch around the house or office and don’t want to pay a ridiculous price then this is for you.

For the cheap price you are getting a functioning cable. I have had it for a week and although there are some visible bends in the cable from it being put through a door that is closed on it. It is still working fine. I think it will be fine anyway as my brother has another cable that is in terrible condition visually but is still working fine with years of use. I would recommend and if I get a long life out of it, will return to buy another as my internet is also running very well using it.

Bought this for connecting a PC to an Ethernet socket on the other side of the room. Plenty of cable to wire around the edge of a room with ample spare if I need to extend it further at a later date.

Don’t think you could get a better cable for the price. No performance or reliability issues, just plug, play and forget. Why buy a more expensive cable when this works just as good!

This cable is well made and well priced. Works great! Good solid connections to switchport and device. Good quality “ethernet” cables and plugs. No loss of data or speed, as far as I can tell, along the length of the cable. It was just what we needed to hard wire our Roku into the internet. Now we have quick internet streaming! Internet connection worked great once I hooked it up.

The only thing I didn’t like is that it isn’t white, but grey (doesn’t blend into my white cables along the walls).
Cundo debo instalar cable cat6 o cat5e?

I bought the 25 foot version of the AmazonBasics RJ45 Cat-5e ethernet cable to run it from my cable modem to a router located in another room. I am not getting any packet loss and the connection is great and I am getting the maximum speed that I am paying for from my internet company through it. I wish the cable was a little thicker and shielded better because it does seem a little fragile but you can’t beat it for the price. I am really happy with i

After the last cat5e cable I bought turned out to be a counterfeit piece of junk, I knew I had to find a reputable source for my next purchase. Amazon has stepped up for that job.

There is nothing wrong with this cable. The wires inside are twisted as they should be and I’m currently getting the gigabit speeds that I should be getting. I didn’t have access to a high-end cable tester, so I can’t report on the finer details such as crosstalk or interference, but the computer is reporting gigabit speeds just as it should be.

I’m a CCNA, networking is what I do. This cable is NOT junk so you can buy it with confidence.

50 feet might seem a lot but if your internet is wireless and you have a problem and your internet company ask you to attached computer using Ethernet cable. With the normal length cable I had to bring all the computer downstairs to connect to Hub. Now I just run the cable down the stairs and problem sorted.

This is a great cable at an excellent price. Non snag piece works well as well.

One thing I did not expect is, the cable itself is quite hard. For this is a cable with plugs already installed, I expected stranded type cable which are usually very flexible. By the feel of it, I think this is a solid wire type. That would mean constant flexing can cause internal breakage causing difficult to diagnose issues. To be sure, I will have to cut into the cable and I am NOT going to do that. For a semi-permanent to permanent installation, this will not be an issue. But for temporary setup or in a situation constant flexing of the cable is expected, it may not work as well. Something to keep in mind.

So I knew when I ordered these that I wanted a long cable that I could staple on the wall, away from my poorly trained dog. I didn’t realize how long 50 feet would be until I unraveled it! I ended up with some excess that I tucked behind my computer. My dog later found it and started chewing on it. Although there was some damage, it was much more resilient than the normal Ethernet cables I pick up from Best Buy and the super market, and it still worked! I’ll probably have to buy these again soon, but at least I won’t buy these as often as I used to.

I also appreciate that it was packaged very compactly (the box was smaller than my router box).

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersIs there any reason to debate which ethernet cable to select? If you need a 50 footer, look no further, unless you absolutely need it in blue to match all your other cables.

I needed this cable to route my internet connect from one side of the house to the other. This cable did the trick quite nicely. The Amazon Basics cables are just what you would expect from any other cable. The plugs are actually nicer quality than the regular blue ethernet cables as they have a nice plactic protection guard than helps make sure the plastic tab doesn’t not break off when you try to route this cable through tight areas.

I recommend getting a cable about 30% longer than the distance you need to span. You’ll always seem to need the extra length, and it is always easier to coil up any excess cord length than try to stretch it a foot further.

  33. Rev. Kim Justice says:

I got this to extend from the front room, through the hall to the back room because of poor wireless speeds in the house. The cable did exactly what I wanted and I am getting my full speed. I have subsequently bought this for a second computer and would buy again. I was a bit nervous it wouldn’t extend the whole way, but it did with some room to spare.

My internet router is in my kitchen and my computer is in the living room. I noticed that due to the cheaper router my ISP makes me use, my internet speeds over WiFi were 4x slower than what I was getting when plugged directly into the router. I bought this 50 foot cable so that I could plug my computer directly into the router.

It arrived on time, the packaging was easy to open, and the cable works great. I also did not have any problems getting the ends to “click” in to my computer or the router.

This is definitely a great price for the length of this cable. Buy it here instead of getting ripped off by buying it at Best Buy or Target.

My wifi-capable big TV was having occasional problems connecting to my wifi router, so my girlfriend couldn’t view Netflix via the app on the TV whenever she wanted. I bought this cable to make sure that the internet connection to the TV would always be solid, and since I put it in it has been trouble-free and has performed perfectly. The neutral color is perfect when blending in to the baseboards as it runs around the perimeter of the room. I only needed about 36 feet, but the 50 foot cable was the closest in length that I could find. The price was reasonable, and better than I could find at any store in town. I would buy another of these without hesitation, and would recommend it to anyone with 50 foot cable needs.

This is fantastic value for 50 feet of ethernet cable. The cable arrives in a small box and is neatly wound. It has a fair amount of resilience as it was plugged into my laptop and was also regularly unplugged when my laptop was taken out however the clip and cable never showed any sign of wear.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersAmazon have seen fit to cross-post this review between two different products, so I have edited it accordingly.

These 4.2metre and 15.2metre Cat5e cables match the product description.

+ Strain relief is good between cable and connectors.
+ All four pairs are wired to gold plated contacts.
+ The release clip has a satisfactory plastic thumb flap.
+ The cable is anonymous creamy-grey with ‘Amazonbasics’ added to the standard type specification.

    – The featured ‘frustration-free’ robust box does not fit my generously sized letter-box, and while it was oversized for the 4.2m cable, it was a good fit for the 15.2m cable. A smaller, slimmer jiffy bag might have been more appropriate for the smaller cable.

One delivery was packaged inside a standard Amazon Book-wrapper as well – quite un-necessary considering how durable the f-f box is, and which was used alone on the other cable.

I’ve replaced two 2m cables and a junction with the single 4.2m cable.
I needed the 15.2m to be able to work out in the garden (no wifi), and tried it during a few brief hours of spring sunshine.

A speed test showed that that both work fine at 100MHz. I don’t have giganet so cannot comment on the top rate.

Value for money is about right for a fiver or less, cheaper cables exist, so do much more expensive ones.

Only four stars since they make a big point of featuring the packaging, which is not frustration free.

    Addendum 2nd June 2013.
I first posted this review on 30th Jan 2010, but somehow it got lost when the 4.2m cable was withdrawn, so this is a re-post. Today I tried it with a Gigabit signal instead of using a shorter but tidily installed CAT5 cable which was not passing anything more than 100Mb/s Ethernet. The 15.2m AmazonBasics cable passed the Gigabit test with flying colours.

I bought this to wire in my PC. Due to the position of the computer in relation to my router, the signal I was getting was poor. Once I had completed the arduous task of creating a whole big enough in the partition wall between my front and back rooms I ran the cable through. The cable was much longer than required, but this was due to me being over-cautious rather than the product description being inaccurate.

The product has now been in use for around a month and works absolutely perfectly. It is surprisingly sturdy and the connectors seem of a much higher quality than previous ethernet cable that I have had (supplied by my service provider). The speed of my broadband connection has improved dramatically and I highly recommend this product. Perfect for those on a budget or in search of a bargain!

This cable is all you would want it to be. The fustration free packing is brilliant and the cost is also just as good. The little plastic things on the release clips are good too a great help when removing from tricky spots like the back of a wired in xbox or pc. The only downside, and reason for 4 stars, is the sleeve is not quite tight around the core so tends to bend and twist a bit to easily when tring to put the cable in place around corners. Sofar this has not affected the integrity of the cable, but could affect it in the long run if not carefully monitered. It gives great speed, even on my college network. Highly recomended, but take care of it to avoid damage!

A while ago I got my first digital camera with a built-in mini-HDMI port. Sony was happy to offer me this cable for $50 plus shipping, but then I noticed that AmazonBasics had an equivalent cable listed for $8, shipped. And yes, it worked perfectly. Since then, whenever I need a cable, I check first with AmazonBasics, because odds are they have whatever I need.

This time all I needed was a good old Ethernet cable for a run that would go a bit under 50 feet. Once again AmazonBasics was up to the task. For about $11 shipped my problem was solved. The cable came in a very small box with no wasted packaging whatsoever, the connectors were solid and the cable itself was no different than any of the patch cords I already had around. So far it has worked perfectly.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis is basic, simple, and well made.

I trust buying it from Amazon because I know it won’t be cheaply made. There are cheaper cords out there being sold by different marketplace sellers. I’ve ordered some that are very cheap in price but then they have malfunctions soon after installation, they send the wrong item, they send a generic brand with fake stamps on them of better brands, or it takes 2 weeks to receive it from overseas.

I bought this to connect directly to my modem for installing a new router. Easy to put in or out of modem/router but also secure fit that stays in. Plus, it’s always nice to have an extra Ethernet cord because you never know when the need for one will arise. Storing in the box it came in.

My internet is so important and vital in my business. You don’t have to buy the most expensive product to get the best quality. I don’t think you can go wrong with this cable so I recommend it.

I needed a cable to connect my upstairs pc to my downstairs router, so i researched cables and found that cat5e (this cable’s type) is pretty much the thing you need for consumer level internet, cat6e is slightly more expensive and you can’t expect to be downloading at faster than 100mbps(cat5e max speed), not to mention how much your internet bill would cost.

At first i considered an 100 foot cable but after measurements i realised that 50 foot should just be enough. I bought the cable and there is plenty of cable left and would probably even go into the attic if i needed it to its that long.

If you live in a giant house then make sure you measure but asides that i can assure you this cable is long enough.

onto quality, i haven’t experienced any problems using this cable and it worked out of the box, the only problem i had is that i creased it at one point and the crease hasn’t come out, not a big deal and nothing’s changed.

Would highly recommend this product if you are in need of an ethernet cable, great value, great quality.

I bought this cable to put together a quick network connection between my router and a computer in another room. I ended up running it beneath the floor and through the walls on both ends. I find this cable to be of exceptional quality and the connector ends feature a neat snagless design. A few years back, I paid around $10 for a 7ft Staples brand CAT5e cable. Amazon’s cable both exceeds the quality and value of this older cable I have. The only possible problem I could find with it is that the plastic protector for the clip end bumps up against both my router and computer’s connection too much. I have no need to plug and unplug it all of the time so this does not matter to me that much. I would hazard a guess that this cable is still better than cheaper generic brands out there.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI needed a very long ethernet cable for only one reason: My Motorola Surfboard modem (only 4 years old!) went belly up, so I switched my Internet connection to Comcast’s phone modem (which has just one ethernet connection). I have a D-Link 150N router in my basement office that I needed to connect to the phone modem. I wanted to keep the router in the office, but the modem was installed in the center of my basement, 35-40′ away. I used this cable to connect the modem to the router. It works perfectly. It was not the cheapest 50′ cable, but the ones selling for $5-6 had too many problems (read the reviews!). I run a business from this office that depends heavily on the Internet, so could not chance using an unreliable cable. I opted to spend a little more and get one where the reviews indicated no problems. IMO, it is still a bargain compared to the brick & mortor store prices (typically $35) in my area, including discount stores like Best Buy and H H Gregg.

I have used this 15 mtr Amazon Basics RJ45 Cat5e cable to connect my desktop which is in the upstairs back room, to my router in the downstairs front room,so that I could encrypt my router hard wired. It did this no problem,if I wanted to have made a permanent connection for some reason maybe there are higher quality ethernet cables out there, apparently it is nescessary to get the correct cable for your needs. Our local computer store told me that any ethernet cable would do what I wanted but a better/correct type? would be needed for gaming etc but wanted over 30 for an “any will do” spec, this did what I wanted therefore is great value. It also came in a sturdy reuseable box for storage .I gave it 4 stars incase 5 made it seem it would be great for all uses.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersThis item is exactly as advertised – a long cable to extend from an internet router to a computer/xbox/ps3 or any other device that needs an internet connection. On our particular need it was for an xbox that did not have a wireless adapter. It arrived next day with our Prime membership and was opened to find exactly as expected – an extremely long cord to match the fittings our on BT HomeHub to the back of the Xbox360. The cable is quite thick, but this is the case with all ethernet cables.

The clips have a plastic protector which is great to prevent the clips from falling out or breaking. The length of the cord is more than plenty to reach from the main socket where the HomeHub is to almost anywhere in the house, though probably not exactly along the walls. Great because there is no chance of interference from other wireless adapters. My partner plays online on his xbox Live membership all the time and only experiences lag when our isp is slowed down due to living in a rural area with an older exchange.

The connection from the cable itself to the connection is also of good quality and doesn’t feel like it could snap in two with a flick like some others. The price is perfect with some of the main competition with this in our local area from PCWorld being nearer to 30-40 than the price of this item.

Definitely would recommend this to anyone looking for a cheap, good, and fast solution to extending the reach of their internet connection.

I’ve recently bought a number of cables from Amazon to connect up a new internet connected TV system. The cables have all been significantly cheaper than local shops and have all performed well. It’s almost worth buying a few on spec to keep handy for those connections you just have to have when the local PC shed ( you all know who I mean ) wants 35 quid for a cable this size.

My computer is not close enough to the router to have a short ethernet cable, and sometimes the wireless signal can drop out through the brick wall. Got this cable to provide a hard wired solution if the wireless should fail. 15 metres for a fiver, and it can be hidden under the carpet. perfect solution with an amazing cable. Highly recommended

There’s not too much to say about this really, other than it meets all the specifications it’s supposed to meet, works at gigabit speeds and seems to be constructed well enough.

    Good value for money.

The main things I look for with cables is:
    *Durable design
    *Sturdy / unbreakable connectors.

This cable fits both those requirements, and I’ve had no problems whatsoever transferring thousands of files in the past few weeks.

I don’t think it’s explicitly waterproof, but we’ve occasionally draped it outside across windows and nobody’s died yet.

If you have any questions or comments, ask below!

…and it works. It’s over forty-five foot long. It’s light grey. I think I said it works already. The packaging it comes in is hassle-free. That’s all I can really say about it. Reasonable price, considering the free delivery. I would buy this or similar products from the Amazon Basics brand, in the future, as it is a well-made cable.

Not the most exciting review, but it’s an RJ45 cable.

    Four / five stars.

Gosh, it’s difficult to think of things to say in a review about a cable, so please forgive the brevity. This is a fine, sturdy cable. It’s not the cheapest I’ve ever come across, but it is excellent value for the quality of the cable you get. As others have said, the connectors at the end are much more durable than you get on some other ethernet cables, so should avoid the otherwise inevitable situation in which the plastic things snap off after a few weeks, leaving a loose connection in their absence. Data transfer speed is excellent, everything is excellent really! No need to look elsewhere if you need a 15m ethernet cable!

Ever since I dropped using Wifi and switched back to an always reliable wired network (using Powerline networking) I have found that you can never have too many ethernet cables nor have one which is too long – and this cable fits the bill nicely.

Apart from the AmazonBasics branding this is a normal cat 5e RJ45 ethernet cable and that is it – always on, fast and reliable – what more do you need from your network connection?

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThe concept of the frustration free packaging is a mystery to me. However it is supplied in a fully recyclable box, which is probably more relevant in these times.

The cable itself is excellent and I would say unbeatable for the price. I have previously bought shorter cables, at higher prices, from other suppliers and their quality was nowhere near as good as this one.

One useful feature is the guard which protects the latching lug. These lugs are very prone to snapping off, so having a guard to protect it is a great idea.

    Overall, a highly recommended product.

My first amazon branded network cable! – Yes, it says amazon along the cable.

Packed in a plain cardboard box it was easy to unwrap and of course seems to work.

I have moved all my noisy NAS boxes into the hallway where my ADSL router lives.

It is a WAG320N which features a 4 port gigabit switch so I have used the cable to feed my DLink green gigabit switch in the living room feeding my computer, PS3 and media server all at 1Gb via the cable running to my hallway.

Being of course Cat5e cable it is fine to use with most equipment unless the devices need CAT6 which never really caught on.

Got the cable specifically for linking up a freesat hd recorder to the internet so could access BBCiplayer. Cable is good quality and is good value for money for 15.2 meters length. Used the cable initially from a netgear wireless router to a laptop to ensure that data connection was possible – a big yes from me for this product but how can anyone get too excited over an ethernet cable?

Good packaging on this product, the only plastic was the plastic wire that holds the wire together.

Not too stiff so flexible enough for wrapping around things.

Plug shrouds have an extra flap over the retaining catch to make it easier to unplug. This plug shroud can stop the cable from plugging in easily for some floor sockets at where I have worked in some offices.

This flap does however stop the retaining catch from being broken off when pulling the cable back through other tangled cables.

Difficult to really test CAT5e performance but all electrical connectivity worked perfectly.

Perfect for anyone on a tight budget who doesn’t want to fiddle with stripping cables and adding their own connectors, like me!

My only complaint: The cable arrives in a roll, and seems to want to stay that way, the sleeve coating seems to want to stay as a roll… after a bit of a fiddle though it all works perfectly.

Great value for anyone building a small network either in a small office or home office, or just for a wired network at home!

This is a usefully long cable for those who don’t have or want wireless, and being white it’s very easy to see, and that reduces the risk of tripping over it should you need to use it as a temporary connection.

It’s good quality and I can compare it to my standard Xbox 360 cable, which is also very good quality, and over a fortnight’s use there has been no obvious difference in transfer rate between the two of them, and no interruptions or errors arising from loss of data. What more do you need, really?

The “frustration-free packaging” is welcome, as opening a cardboard box is much better than trying to cut your way through hard plastic packaging, with all the waste and risk of cutting yourself that comes with it. I wouldn’t have minded if it had come in a jiffy bag, but the box is so sturdy I am reusing it as a storage container.

It’s a 50ft long CAT 5e cable. I have a router that it is one room and a wired PC in another, this cable runs around the skirting board and allows the two to connect. It’s almost not worth cabling your self when made up cables are this cheap.

It arrived in a cardboard box with just a clip holding the cable together.

It’s nice and simple and does the job.

This is a fifty foot long LAN cable. It is of good quality construction. I connected a remote computer to my router with this and the connection speed doubled compared with the wireless link I had been using.

The cable itself is reasonably flexible, making a permanent cabling solution possible.

All in all, excellent value and recommended.

Not a lot you can say about a cable really.
Good price and easy release ends are all good.
Only negative is the plastic coating seems to be of the cheaper less flexible type that will probably crack in time due its stiffness.
For a fit and forget cable it’s perfect, as a reusable type it’s not so good.

What can you say about a network cable? It’s great if you need to link up 2 devices which are some distance apart and can’t be moved(in my case a dual fixed line & Internet Phone and my cable broadband router on other sides of the house). The frustration free packaging is a nice touch and hugely reduces the unnecessary overpackaging that you get with most computer peripherals/accessories. Loses one point because you need a scissors or knife to actually open the box (so its not quite “frustration free”) and its hard to justify 5 stars for such a generic product.

  87. CaseyLahey says:

What can you say about a Cat5e cable? It’s a cable for connecting PC equipment and it does a good job at that. The packaging is a refreshing change though. Instead of being packaged in a tough plastic blister pack that rips your hands to bits when you eventually prize it open, it’s presented in a brown cardboard box with minimal printing.

This is how things should be packaged. The box can be easily recycled and is all that is required for such a product. Amazon could go one step further though and simply put the cable in the envelope, is there a need for a box as well?

A step in the right direction for packaging though.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersLets face it, wireless isn’t all it’s cracked up to be when you’re in an urban area with 100s of wireless networks pumping out their frequencies all over the house, so when you need that extra juice, this is probably one of the best ways to go, with 15m you can easily connect another PC in another room if you’re in a small flat, or just connect a device from the living room to the hallway where you keep your router. This makes life much simpler, as you get dedicated 1Gbit throughput, something wireless cannot do.

The stress free packaging is good too, it comes in a box about 4″, like a pizza box and you just need to cut the plastic that keeps the ethernet cable together. Once that is done it’s usable straight away.

This is a good cable as it’s lengthy – and it’s made with decent components, even gold plated. I have had no problems with mine so far and can highly recommend it.

I got this to solve an issue where my brother’s cable modem was on a different floor to his network enabled B&O Hi-Fi system, not to mention the PS3 I bought him. This will enable him to connect and download updates. The cable is of good quality and the lack of packaging is a bonus.

Works well. Does everything you require of this cable.
It is well made and sturdy and at a very good price.

Worth getting if you need it.

I can highly recommend these LAN cables. They are long enough for any household run and are strong and of good quality. They also have a plastic protector to stop the securing clip from breaking off as can sometimes happen. The item also arrived really quickly as well.

The only thing I didn’t like was that again there was far too much packaging for something which can easily take care of itself. There was a cardboard box and some inner packaging as well which is just too fussy for a strong plastic item.

  92. Eric Franklin says:

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersA well assembled cable, does exactly what it says on the tin basically. The plastic release is well built too with just enough sheathing to cover it from getting snagged and not too much to be a pain and give you trouble inserting into the socket.

The packaging is no fuss and also low cost so better on the environment too as nice to see not using plastic for once. If you aint got WiFi and need a long cable this is the one for you – don’t spend alot of money on the others as this will do the job just the same.

Nice quality cable at a reasonable price. Hard to gauge performance but seemed to work just fine. Cables nicely coiled rather than folded so lie neatly without kinks. Says Cat5e but says it works at 1Gbit which is Cat.6 so some confusion there. Frustration Free packaging is the way forward, although you will still need a sharp edge to open the box. Worth buying.

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersI’ve owned some other Amazon Basics cables and they have always been of high quality, so I chose this Ethernet one for that reason. As Amazon promise the cable comes in “frustration free packaging”, and this is easy to recycle.

The cable construction quality is of a high standard, I’ve had some flimsy, easy to break cables in the past. Handily the connectors also have a tiny piece of rubber over them which stops the plastic clip part from snapping off – good idea as this means the cable still makes the clicking sound that it should, even after many times unplugging and plugging it in.

At 15.2 metres, it is a decent length. Not sure why Amazon have given us the 0.2 metres, but this goes a fair distance. Luckily these type of cables can operate without loss at distances of up to 100m, so don’t worry if you’re thinking that this length is going to slow you down somehow. Because of it’s length, this cable is probably aimed at those deterred by wireless. It could easily go from one room to the next, or round and up a staircase. It can be used to connect a router to PC/Xbox/PS3 etc, and I use it with my Roberts internet radio.

This cable satisfies Cat5e specifications so will transmit at 1000Mbps (1Gbps) if that facility is useful to you.

The AmazonBasics Ethernet 15m patch cable feels like a good (though not exceptional) quality cable and arrives in an easy-open box, which is handy if you’re suffering a networking emergency. The cable is quite ‘springy’ and holds its shape a little too much while you’re trying to place it. If hiding your Ethernet cable is important then it might be worth considering a Flat Network Patch Cable as they can be easier to conceal behind furniture or beneath carpets and rugs – although standing on cables is never a great idea. As you’d expect throughput is good and will beat most wifi connections, although you don’t often trip over a wifi connection. For connecting any non-wireless networking device they’re a good value buy at Amazon’s current price.

Quick tip, in case it helps : If you have 1000base-T capable devices on your network have a quick look at the plugs on the ends of your Ethernet cables and check they have all the pins wired-up (like this cable does) because in the past many cheaper cables (like the ones bundled with devices) only had half the pins wired. That was good enough for 10base-T or 100base-T networks but it’s not good enough for 1000base-T and you might have problems.

Excellent what can you say about a RJ45 cable (they all the same lol) but this one or rather length was just the job I needed to extend my router far away from TV and PC and put it in my HiFi cabinet out of the way and neat much better than the last one I got free which was just over 2m.

This is a good chunky internet ASDL cable, it had a good positive click mechanism when inserting into the router/computer and was also easy to remove. The frustration free packaging was easy to open and I imagine to store it back in, should you wish.
The long length of cable means it is going to suit most households needs, and if you do not want to go down the wireless route, as I did not, since speeds are not as good as with cabled ASDL, then this is going to be the right choice of cable for you. I did buy another cable just prior to being offered this one to review, which was far inferior to this as it was not at all chunky and looked more like a basic telephone cable! so cables can and do vary and this a better one. I am very impressed with this cable and recommend it.

When my partner works from home, the wireless connector in her IBM Lenovo laptop brings down our Netgear DG834G Wireless Router . So, we wire her laptop to the router instead.

With time, the RJ45 connectors clips on the previous network cable have broken. This is a fantastic replacement – long enough to reach diagonally across our house.

The connectors on this AmazonBasics RJ45 Cat5e Ethernet Patch Cable (15.2 Metres) have little rubber protectors for the RJ45 clips, which is great news, as it looks as if they are significantly less likely to catch on things and get broken.

The cable is relatively soft for a such a long Cat5e cable, which makes it easy to coil up when not in use.

Amazon’s claim of “Frustration-Free Packaging” is justified. One quick slice of a knife through a sticky label was enough to open the recyclable cardboard box.

As you would expect, despite its length, the cable functions perfectly – I’m currently using it as my connection to the router while I write this review.

Golden Review Award: 25 From Our UsersAmazonBasics RJ45 Cat5e Ethernet Patch Cable (15.2 Metres) [Amazon Frustration-Free Packaging] is exactly what it says in the description. It is one of a range of quality interconnects, supplied by Amazon and bearing the AmazonBasics logo, which includes HDMI, USB and other length Ethernet LAN cables. Although reasonably priced the product is of good quality and comes in Amazon’s Certified Frustration Free Packaging – in this case a small plain brown cardboard box, factory-sealed with an adhesive product description label, which was indeed very easy to open. No finger-cutting plastic to deal with, and green too!

This is a long cable at 15.2m, or 50ft if that means more to you, and if your router etc is a fair way from the equipment to be connected to it then this cable will give you a good length of cable run. It is terminated with male gold-plated RJ45 plugs each end and is nicely made and also seems pretty robust. I had not been aware of Amazon’s range of cables before trying this one, but it is a range I will consider next time I’m looking for an interconnect. Not the cheapest on the market by any means, but good value at the price and well packaged. It’s a LAN cable – I’m surprised how much Amazon found to say about it in the Manufacturer’s Description – but read it anyway!

Good value, good length (15.2m) ethernet cable. More than long enough for within a home-office, possibly not long enough to stretch from home-office to room on different floor at far end of house (ok, I should have measured first…). So, if the length is enough for your requirement, this seems to be a perfectly good product at a good price.

Came in Amazon’s new “Frustration-Free Packaging”, which is simple but sturdy. Good stuff.
