FAQ

Q1: Will this dock work with any laptop? How do I make sure my laptop works with this dock?

A: This dock works with laptops with a USB-C port that supports DisplayPort Alt Mode and Power Delivery. To confirm the USB-C port function of your laptop, consult your user manual or contact your laptop’s manufacturer. If your USB-C port doesn’t support DisplayPort Alt Mode, you won’t receive video output. If your USB-C port doesn’t support Power Delivery, the dock will work correctly with video and data (including audio and Ethernet), but would not be able to supply charging to your laptop.

Q2: Do I need to install any drivers to use this dock?

A: No.

Q3: Can I use my own USB-C cable to connect the dock to my laptop?

A: We recommend that you use the 3.2 ft USB-C cable that comes with the dock, however any other USB-C cable with support for USB 3.1 Gen 2 and 100W Power Delivery should work.

Q4: How many monitors does the dock support and what is the maximum resolution supported?

A: This dock supports connection to two external monitors: 1 via HDMI and 1 via DisplayPort.

Single Monitor Resolution: 4K@60Hz (for DisplayPort 1.4) or 4K@30Hz (for DisplayPort 1.2)

Dual Monitor Resolution: 2 x 4K@30Hz (for DisplayPort 1.4) or 2 x 1080p@60Hz (for DisplayPort 1.2).

macOS only supports Single-Stream Transport (SST), and doesn’t support Multi-Stream Transport (MST)

Q5: The charging output of the dock is listed as 60W, which is lower than my laptop charger’s output. Will the dock still be able to power my laptop?

A: This dock supports up to 60W of charging via the USB-C upstream port on the front of the dock (indicated with a computer icon). It will charge slower than your laptop charger, but it will still charge at a relatively high speed.

Q6: How to deal with screen drop, black screen, or screen flickering issues when connecting to an external monitor?

A: After the dock has just been connected to the external monitor, it’s normal for there to be some degree of flickering. It should go away in a little while. If you experience any screen issues after waking up your laptop, restart the dock; If your laptop or the docking station has not been shut down for a long time and you’re experiencing screen issues, please restart the dock.

Finally a device that works really we with my Samsung Tab S8 Ultra, fully and fast charging the device with all the ports I could need and use. Ethernet working well as well as dongle for KB and Mouse plus connected via HDMI to 32″ ultrawide screen with no problems whatsoever. Have tried 6 devices and chargers to this point and all failed to work. This has its own charger and so works out quite cheap in compariso

You can’t go wrong with Anker.

Product works as it should do, plug and go.

What I really like is that it has a power button so can be switched off when not using the laptop.

    Highly recommend.

This dock is exactly what I was hoping for, has a good selection of ports, it compact and comes with the power supply to easily power my MacBook Pro and charge other devices too. Also comes with USB-c cable which is plenty long enough. I spent a lot of time trying to decide between different docks and glad I went for this one. No flickering or connection issues as I have had with other docks and my peripherals all worked first time. My only criticism is that the USB-C port to connect to the laptop is on the front, which means the cable is always sticking out and can’t be routed out of sight.

Compact dock, works seamlessly, almost perfec

Hybrid working life is now so much easier now I have this hub. Being able to plug in a single usb c cable and have power, connection to my monitor and internet via Ethernet has been a game changer.

It is somewhat limited on USB ports so I’ve linked this hub to an additional powered usb hub for all my peripherals and now I’m all set.

Haven’t noticed any significant heat issues and all connectivity (power, monitor, peripherals) has been rock solid.

I got this for myself after owning another one of these docks through my employer. It’s a good USB-C dock and works as expected. The operating word is “expected”, because while USB-C makes it ridiculously easy to use one cable to connect a laptop to a bunch of stuff, it also hides a ton of technical complexity. This means you need to be carefully look at the dock and the device you want to attach to it and make sure it all works well together. Here are some gotchas:

    * The dock charges your device at 60W. A reviewer mentioned that the dock will not charge the laptop from a dead battery. If you have a device that has a 140W charger, don’t be shocked if it will drain on heavy use and refuse to charge properly on an empty battery. This does not make the device /faulty/ as they explicitly mention this, but you will need to keep it in mind if you want to use a beefier laptop with this.

    * USB-C only has enough bandwidth to supply a DisplayPort 1.4 signal. Whatever the limits of your laptop are, the same will apply to this device. In general DP 1.4 can only do 4K@60Hz unless your laptop and monitor supports display stream compression — this dock does not, so the most you’ll get is 4K@60, or two 4K@30, or one 1080p@240Hz, etc. This is, again, not a defect, but it is something to look out for.

    * On a similar note, not all laptops support driving two displays from one cable. Macs are notorious for being picky with this, but your Windows laptop may not work either. There is unfortunately nothing you can do but buy it and try. If it does not work, you can always return it.

    * The Ethernet is spotty on Macs. This is a general issue with Realtek who makes a lot of network chips. I can’t say if it works or not on my computer as I never used it, but I suspect it may not be fixed as of now. So if you’re looking for this dock specifically for Ethernet and you use a Mac, you may need to see if the driver situation is better now. Again, nothing you can do really, it’s just how USB-C docks are. You gotta test it and return it if it does not work as you expect.

    * You have a USB 3 port at the front that supports up to 5Gbps of bandwidth (whatever USB generation that corresponds to after the sixty million renames, I don’t know). This is a theoretical maximum and you will see lower performance on actual storage devices and things, as you always do with these claims. However, if the device you’re using says it can do USB data at 5Gbps, this will give it its highest performance.

    * This is not a Thunderbolt dock. It’s a USB-C dock. It will not do Thunderbolt speeds, it will not take an external GPU, it will not give you 10 gigabit ethernet through the one cable. It’s USB-C only.

My goal was a single cable from my MacBook Pro which connected to a 4K monitor, wired LAN, external SSD and USB speakers while powering the laptop and a phone wirelessly. This does all that, and I’ve added a cheap 4-port USB 3.0 hub to give me some options for attaching USB-A thumb drives if required. Dual screen or using the MacBook in clamshell mode works great at 60Hz connecting to my monitor via HDMI. This was the 3rd dock I’d tried as all of the others had issues with the display resolutions, which this doesn’t. It was almost half the price too! I’ve still got an Anker power bank I bought several years ago when that was pretty much all they did. My home office is now full of Anker stuff, and it all works well, and if it doesn’t the support is good too. I’d happily recommend it.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is a fabulous little docking station. It was ~1/3 cost of an excellent Caldigit Thunderbolt dock and, apart from a couple of extra USB ports on the Caldigit I don’t see any meaninful difference. Have now made this standard kit for each desk in the business.

I run, without issue, webcam, keyboard, conference speaker, Samsung ultra wide (via display port) and charging for my mobile phone from this unit which is only the size of a box of Cook’s matches.

One of the ratings was for travelling – I would not recommend this for travel – the power brick is much bigger than my laptop’s own. For travelling I just use a smaller, fewer featured PD passthrough ‘adapter’. My lack of recommendation for travel IN NO WAY is a criticism of this unit – just don’t think it’s the target market!

As always Anker makes a good product. At half the price of the Dell dock I was expecting a few issues but have had none. I have a Dell Latatude 3520(i5-1135G7) laptop, plus 2 BenQ GW2480 24inch monitors and Logitech K540 keyboard & mouse, C925-e webcam and H579-e headset all connected to the Anker USB-C doc. Everything worked first time I connected it all up. Laptop charges fine over the doc and the 2 1080p monitors look the same as if the was connected directly to the laptop. Overall a good little doc that makes it easier to connect the laptop when I’m working from home.

Worked perfectly for docking my M1 MacBook air with 1 cable, connected to a 1440p 144hz monitor over HDMI (I’m uncertain if it was running at 144Hz or 120Hz but definitely hitting enough of what I was looking for)

Was able to use the front usb C port to fast charge my Pixel 5 as well

    Would highly recommend
