VM95C – Conical stereo cartridgeThe AT-VM95C, the new Audio-Technica entry model Conical cartridge will replace the legendary AT90 Series models such as AT91, AT91R and CN5625AL Also the AT-VM95C is a âbudgetâ cartridge featuring a conical stylus, the compatibility in the range will allow to upgrade with any of the 4 other LP styli of the Series such as Elliptical, Elliptical Nude, Microlinear and Shibata.
| VM95E – Elliptical stereo cartridgeThe AT-VM95E, the new Audio-Technica entry model Elliptical cartridge will replace the legendary AT95E and take advantage of the developments of the AT95EX introduced in 2015. The AT-VM95E features an improved and distinctive design resulting in a more rigid low resonance housing, and two threaded inserts in the cartridge body enabling it to be mounted to the headshell or on an integral tonearm with just two screws, no nuts.
| VM95EN – Elliptical Nude stereo cartridgeThe AT-VM95EN, features a Nude Elliptical Diamond. The construction of the stylus being a one piece diamond with a round shank inserted in the cantilever creates a lighter and more rigid transmission system than a diamond tip bonded on a round titanium shank such as in the AT-VM95E. Also the use of nude diamond implies a substantial difference in cost, yet the quality of the reproduction will be immediately noticed, specifically in the fidelity of high frequencies and in the quality of the transient responses.

VM95ML – Microlinear stereo cartridgeThe AT-VM95ML, features a Nude Microlinear diamond, not only the Microlinear stylus will permit to double the duration of your stylus. The performance of a line contact stylus, will minimize the âinner groove distortionâ as well as providing extended frequency response and maximize resolution in the medium and high frequencies of the audio program material.
| VM95SH – Shibata stereo cartridgeThe AT-VM95SH, features a Nude Shibata stylus, one of the most acclaimed stylus format by high end audiophiles. The Shibata stylus produces mid and bass sounds strong and rich in addition to offer a frequency response up to 25,000 Hz.
| VM95SP – 78rpm SP cartridgeSince SP records have monaural modulation, when combining an SP stylus with a stereo body, such as the AT-VM95SP, it is recommended to use the âMONO ONâ function â of your standard Stereo Phono Preamplifier to minimize record surface noise. AT-VM95SP, as stereo cartridge for SP mono records, when used with a dedicated archiving phono preamplifierequalizer incorporating various functions to generate a mono signal from Stereo inputs (Mono L+R, Mono L, Mono R, LR Variable Mix) allows professional archivers to minimize noise and distortion by sampling the least damage side of the grooves from an old record.

It improved the quality sound of my 30 years old Turntable without breaking the bank.
Fitted this to my Rega RP1 and I am really pleased with the results. Set up was easy thanks to the captive nuts in the headshell. Sounds is great, up with the best for its price. It is well-balanced, good bass and treble which is smooth and not overly bright or simbalent. Tracks really well even on my older records. Can be upgraded further with stylus with more exotic diamond tips. I would happily recommend this cartridge.
The stylus on my ortofon cartridge snapped , so decided to buy this to replace it, so pleased I bought a second stylus as all the VM95 stylii are interchangeable using the same cartridge body. The second was a shabata top spec , my vinyl collection suddenly got so much bette
Impressed with the elliptical stylus I decided to get the top of the range, as an upgrade, so good
I recently revived interest in vinyl & getting my mid-90’s Rega Planar 2 back into regular use. Having had a Carbon in there for a while I decided keeping the deck (perfectly good into its 4th decade) and upgrading the cartridge was the best way to go. I read forums & considered my budget & how often I would spend on listening. After all that I decided on AT as a brand & a shibata stylus because I like the detail in music but also any product that brings bass up a bit. Balanced in my ears.
This does the job for me.
Now I think hi fi and in particular vinyl/turntable/cartridge choice is like wine. So while I’m sipping a favourite Cru Beaujolais or Californian Zinfandel from Sonoma county there may well be a veteran left bank Bordeaux sipper recoiling from the combo of a Rega & shibatawell that’s life!
Drink/listen o
Considering the price and the sound quality from this cartridge, it has to be five stars. It’s fitted to a Technics SL1210Mk2 which does have the capability of using a much more expensive cartridge but this one is an excellent match and performs really well.
Very easy installation using the provided screws into capative nuts in the cartridge body. Don’t overtighten, it could spoil your day!
I’ve resurrected my old Thorens TD 160 turntable with SME 3009 tonearm, Rega phono preamp with USB output to digitise my old records. Needed a new stylus for my Ortofon cartridge, but discovered no longer available, and I didn’t want to risk 3rd party copies so opted for this reasonably priced AT-VM95E cartridge, with a new Audio-Technica head shell to add a little mass to the tonearm, as the AT cartridge is lower compliance than the Ortofon, which tracked at lower weights. Pleased with the resulting sound.
This is a very good hi quality product.
I was very impressed with the sound quality I experienced with this item.
Love vynl now, all over again.
I already had an AT95E. This is definitely a great improvement. Piano sounds stunning. Great midrange and solid bass sound. No need for those tiny nuts. The cartridge has threaded bushes. They give you 2 pairs of screws, since different arms require either the short pair or the long pair. My Rega arm needed the short pair. Once set up and adjusted properly the sound was just great. The bonus is that I can upgrade the stylus in the future without having to remove the cartridge again. Great value for money at 39.
The AT-VM95SH Shibata cartridge is a revealing cartridge that doesn’t break the bank and is an exceptional class of cartridge for getting the most out of vinyl. I’ve paired it with my Rega Planar TT and whereas I have had a Nagaoka MP110 and Rega Exact MK2 cartridge before paired with a Schitt Mani Phono Preamp, the AT is far more enticing and revealing than these. A highly recommended buy and no shim needed for the Rega
Replaced the original Goldring cartridge on my Lenco G75. The screws worked with original fittings.
Just wow !! Wow ! – I have owned Naga mp110, and Goldring E30. This destroys them on many levels. It’s digs every detail up from the grooves. It’s punchy, it’s fast, it’s sharp and clear defined and detailed. Not sibilant, it’s smooth in treble. The bass is not boomy, it’s deep and tight and fast. It’s got very little overhang, and snares and toms are really fast n tight. The vocals are clear but not over the top in the “S”. Inner groove distortion was a big issue for the other carts esp on the last 1″ of a album – with this AT it’s gone literally gone reduced by 90%. It’s got good output level too, and 45s sound so much cleaner as well. For the price you can’t go wrong. That diamond shape really does suck that info off the wax. Technics 1210 ii standard kit, cork n rubber mat, puck. Custom hand made discrete pre amp.
Wanted the best quality cartridge and needle for my old Linn axis. Audio technique vm95’s are the same specs as the original linn cartridge . Installed myself with required tools from Amazon . Take your time watch you tube and you’ll get amazing results
My review will probably not anything beyond the other reviews here. When I first installed this I was somewhat underwhelmed, it really did not seem like a mive up from the Ortofon Red. However, after about 15 albums it has really started to open up. The soundstage is fantastic. I have also changed the phono stage (from a Rega fono mini A2D to Angle Audio) and this has improved things further. Very little surface noise as so many others have said before me. So why only 4 stars? Simple, 5 would mean it is perfect, and nothing is. Highly recommended.
Super rich stereo sound both my turntables now have this added to them. Highly recommend for value and of course if the time comes for an upgraded stylus the range is superb
Value for money just what we needed it improve sound quality
First off….looking at the prices on amazon today, I would go with the AT VM95ML. Considerably cheaper than the SH and pretty much the same sound.
This cartridge is solidly built, and the threaded inserts make mounting and aligning the cartridge a whole lot easier. We have moved into a new era in cartridge pricing. Not long ago, a cartridge this good, would cost $400-$500. It is very comparable to the AT440Mlb. The microlines and shibata cartridges are very sensitive to alignment. Setting the azimuth and the vertical tracking angle properly is really important.
My SH only took about an hour to break-in and the higher frequencies smooth out.
It is a great cartridge for a great price, especially with a discount. I am very satisfied with this purchase. Sound quality is very good and at least in a pair with Ortofon 2M Blue that I decided to replace. The Shibata stylus is definitely doing its job.
This is such an improvement over the AT-VM95E, the quality is outstanding, I am able to hear so much more detail.
I know that in the world of audiophiles this would be considered as a budget cartridge, but for me it was the most expensive cartridge I’ve purchased, and it was well worth the cost.
Great stylus – breathed new life into my old Pro-Ject 0.5. Just surprises me how expensive stylus are… Fantastic sound. Don’t forget to go to the Audio-Technica web site and print off their Cartridge/Headshell Adjustment protractor. Can’t really complain and in 300 hours I will be purchasing another…
I bought this for my budget Denon deck that I bought from Lidl! Mock if you wish, but it sounds remarkably good for the price. It came with an AT-3600l, so this seemed to be the natural upgrade. It totally changed the sound quality. If you have a budget deck, then I totally recommend upgrading to this cartridge.
Upgraded from a VMN95E to the Shibata and noticed straight away much less inner groove distortion and less sibilance even on a record that seemed prone to it. Also started noticing in the background instruments that had not been apparent with the VMN95E. Not a cheap upgrade but given the almost 3x lifespan of the stylus and the upgrade in sound quality, I think it is worth the dollars.
Tengo un mes usando este cartucho Shibata de Audiotechnica y lo recomiendo plenamente, el ruido o scratch se reduce considerablemente as como tambin brinda un sonido claro y balanceado para cualquier tipo de msica.
Bought this for a friend who asked me to transcribe some vinyl to CD. Chose AT on basis of their reputation and they do not disappoint.
This was a replacemevt for my Pickering XEV/3001 (D3001E) which had lost its eliptical diamond. That was an exceptional cartridge. Light weight but sadly no longer available. I could not justify the high price of comparable cartridges so chose the AT-VM95E and after adjusting the counterweight to give the correct tracking force and aligning in the headshell, I was very pleased with the sound quality. My turntable is a Strathclyde Transcription model 305S with an (Audio Technica) AT1120 arm.
Replaced my Denon moving coil for this and was blown away. Didn’t expect much for this price. I have a Nad 7250 running through Paradigms 7SE . Listen to 70’s rock mostly and 80’s pop. Vocals are outstanding. Lots of bass and highs are crystal clear. Easy to install 2 sets of screws included which screw right into headshell.
Had to add extra weight to the headshell I have a heavy tonearm. But right out of the box maybe 15 minutes and it was done. Set at 2 grams tracking. You won’t be disappointed the Shibata stylus makes surface noise disappear. BUY IT.
Excel in tops and bass. Great value for money. Better than Stanton 500
Somewhat bass light, I’m going to swap this out for the next model down (the Microline) on the same cart. Good on classical but lacks power on anything with gusto.
very good sound good quality well made would buy again five stares
Thanks for dispatching this item so fast. I’m really happy with the resul
Decent replacement for the stock Numark stylus on my Ion TTUSB. Easy to fit and align.
Good beginners cartridge which you can upgrade by changing the stylus. Tried on a 1980s Hitachi direct drive deck and sounded pretty good, far better than expected and wasn’t shown up by my decent deck (modded Goldring Lenco Gl75 with origin live arm and Ortofon moving coil) Tracks well at 2g and easy to set up. It has got to be about the best value for money you can get in a cartridge, I doubt you can find cheaper which won’t chew records, let alone sound good!
Excellent sound quality, tracking, and build quality, and Shibata Stylus makes this the Audiophiles choice at a very good price.
Audio-technica quality is one of the best in the industry.Recommend.
Sound quality of this moving magnet cartridge is brilliant at a good price with stylus upgrades available
Good needle which was an upgrade on the needle that came with my audio technica turntable. The sound quality isn’t as good as I hoped for but still better than the original.
Decided to upgrade my stock cartridge that came with my tt and the difference in sound quality is amazing
Bought for a second room turntable, for the price it’s Exellent,, great sound
Arrived in good time. As described by manufacturer. Will use again.
Bought for my teenage son to sort out his 30 year old hand-me down first Technics turntable. I’m a bit of an audiophile (Avid, Dynavector, Naim, Fyne etc) but I have to say, with his decent but aged Rotel Amp and a pair of old Missions, it sounds excellent and the cartridge has just brought everything to life. Space, delicacy, nice bass weight, sweet midrange – just the job, and for a bit under a hundred quid is a bit of a bargain. Only problem is that now he’s nicking my vinyl!
I have the Audio-Technica LP120XUSB player and started to experience crackling with different vinyl, after about 7 mths of having the player.
After troubleshooting, I determined the default stylus that came with it may be the issue. After doing some research and discussing this with a friend (same record player, same issue), we both pulled the trigger on this stylus.
Sound is incredible overall. Very crisp and plays through the grooves on albums where I had trouble with crackling. I can tell the difference with the sound quality, and crackling issues have subsided overall. Helps to have a good cleaning kit too.
There are one or two vinyls that I have determined are bad presses, so I will be shopping in very specific places for vinyl now instead of going for the cheap deals.
I’m no audiophile. The trouble with older turntables is when you can no longer get an original stylus. I recently bought a generic replacement and wasn’t greatly impressed, it seems to generate quite a lot of noise.
So this is option B, easy to fit, easy to set up and much less noise. The only down side is slightly lower output voltage, so sounds a little quieter at your usual setting.
I’m happy with this as a replacement.
Good soundstage, clear mids, highs and stable bass. Good quality entry level cartridge. Can be upgraded as funds allow by changing stylus.
On a Rega Planar 2, replacing a Goldring E3 (which is a rebadged VM95EN).
The Goldring E3 this replaced was a decent cartridge, but didn’t last a day longer than the 300 hours promised by AT for their elliptical styluses. At an advertised 800 hours this is already good value.
But the sound is a completely different level. If you’ve ever heard music you love and know intimately on new, higher level, equipment and have instantly broken into a smile you know the feeling. All the cliches about hearing new instruments and sounds are true. A truly stunning product.
An easy to mount cartridge, thanks to the body having the screw threads, so no fiddling with tiny nuts.
The sound quality is Ok, but I’m not sure that it’s any improvement on the cheap cartridge that was previously fitted.
I researched before buying this and glad I did as its made a great difference in sound quality. Easy to fit but you have to be careful when removing the old cartridge the wires can be stubborn and I broke one and so had to solder it back on but what an upgrade well worth it, top value for money.
Whilst more expensive styli will almost certainly give an improvement in audio reproduction, for under 50 this is an incredible stylus. It improves the clarity and dynamics of records no end. I was running a AT91 stylus on my turntable prior to upgrading to the AT-VM95E, and the improvement is palpable. It also seems like a great feature that the stylus can be changed without having to change the entire cartridge – and recessed screws? Result! I’m sure I will eventually upgrade to the Microlinear stylus, but for under 50, the VM95E is unbeatable.
La trs haute qualit audiophile de cette cellule et de ce diamant.
very easy to fit and align, really good sound quality, bit bright initially but burns in quickly. for the price this is an excellent cartridge
Bought to help get an old Garrard 86SB back into running order and the results from this cartridge are better than I could have hoped for. I have a far more expensive turntable/MC cartridge combo with dedicated and phono stage, but the AT-VM95E really demonstrates the law of diminishing returns… magnificent bargain and easily upgraded just by replacing the stylus
Sounds great think I’d have to spend twice as much to get an up grade that’s noticeable
This is a great sounding cartridge for the price and close to some quite expensive AT moving coil models if not quite as refined.
Wanted to replace the carbon on my Rega P2 – didn’t see the point in spending daft money on an upgrade and then pretend I could hear/tell the difference. Read the reviews on this and opted for the elliptical version. Played around 20 hours so far. Straight forward to fit and has a definite brightness and clarity, on some tracks, compared to the carbon. Great VFM and any future upgrade will now only require a stylus change.
I am no vinyl expert so I won’t challenge any of the reviews that are available on YouTube etc.
This cartridge arrived in smart and simple packaging. Installation and alignment of the cartridge in the headshell was easy due to the captive inserts in the cartridge. (Note: 2 pairs of different length screws are provided as are two plastic washers).
The overall design of the cartridge is much more purposeful that the older AT95 design and looks reasonably ‘high end’ when mounted on the turntable. Print out an alignment protractor and align the cartridge using this; the straight edges of the cartridge make this a reasonably simple process helped by the captive inserts.
I am no vinyl aficionado; I only went back to vinyl a few weeks ago as I cannot find anything that plays Dire Straits – Love Over Gold album with quite the warmth and feeling that comes from the record. This cartridge/stylus combination gave me everything back that had been missing. The quiet guitar passages are now smooth and soulful, the piano sounds like a piano (unlike in every digital version of this record) and the music of the louder passages joins together in a musical whole. The focus and presence of each instrument now feels that it has a position on the soundstage. The female vocals on other records are more detailed and energised using this stylus.
This Cartridge is truly a great improvement over my old Ortofon VMS20E Mk2 and has set me off on a collecting spree of old records that I can enjoy again.
Delivered on time. Very easy to fit.
Be careful fitting cartridge as the cables are very small and delicate. Use small bottle nose pliers if you have some.
Sounds much warmer and seems to cover a wider frequency range than the vintage stylus I had on my vintage pioneer turntable.
A replacement for an old cartridge on an old direct drive deck. It works
Don’t hesitate, this cartridge sounds great for the money, very clear and accurate.
Ottimo acquisto, testina equilibrata, dettagliata ma musicale, ricostruzione scenica spettacolare..montata su Rega RP6
After lots of research I settled on purchasing this cartridge to replace the existing cartridge/broken needle on my 70s Dynatron Radiogram SRX20 series with Garrard SP25 MkV turntable. Decided was easier to replace the whole cartridge than try to find a replacement stylus!
Fitted within 5 mins and sounds fab!
Love that I can just now replace the stylus to any of the VM95 range.
Good prompt service.
Sound quality is great and a reasonable upgrade to what was supplied with Audio-Technica system.
Rapporto qualit prezzo eccellente . Suono stupendo . Ottima immagine . Il taglio Shibata si sente eccome . Vale l’acquisto
Very good value and quality.
Good service, albeit the post office were a bit slow!
The sound on this is amazing, bought it to replace a 2m blue and won’t be going back to ellipticals again. Crystal clear, records sound better than CDs with this thing. Recommended
Great product that reveals many more musical nuances in my vinyl records.
I’ve fitted this to an AT LP5, replacing the original 95ex that had always suffered a little from inner groove distortion which had got worse after some heavy use. I kept the original AT HS10 headshell rather than opting for the HS6 that this cart&stylus tends to get bundled with (there’s only 1g difference in weight that becomes neglible after balancing the arm and dialing in the correct VTF). In this setup the VM95ML is really superb, I love it. Not even a hint of IGD on any of my records now, even the ones that are widely known to be difficult to track (and could never track with the 95ex). Norah Jones – Come Away With Me is a good/bad example, it had previously driven me nuts with a lot of tracks crammed in close to the label inviting in annoying distortion of that silky vocal, but not any more with the VM95ML. After struggling with this record for some time, I couldn’t believe my ears after fitting this stylus.
This is an immaculate sounding bit of kit; plenty of bass presence with very clean mids and treble without ever sounding too analytical.
I listen to a wide range of musical styles, from the very light to busy, dark and heavy, and find that all genres sound just as you want through this stylus. I hear almost no clicks and pops any more from new records and a decreased amount from the very old ones. It’s also easier to align correctly due to the centre groove in the body which allows you to see the cantilever and gives a reference to line up with during the alignment procedure.
Coming from the 95ex, it simply is a massive upgrade. I couldn’t be happier. Yes, it’s 3X the cost of the elliptical bonded stylus in this AT range, but if the expected 1000hr lifetime proves to be true it’ll last more than 3X longer, all the while giving superior sound quality and very accurate tracking. If you’re frustrated with IGD issues or just want a cost-effective upgrade then just get it, you won’t be disappointed.
I was going to buy a new stylus for my Ortofon 2M blue. But it was more money and was only a Nude Elliptical tip.
A plus point was the fact this cartridge had a Shibata stylus. Having heard other cartridges with the needle shape made my mind up. It plays the grooves of my records with very little pops and crackles, as the stylus shape seems to avoid the crud in the grooves, other cartridge tips pick up.
As for sound quality, I was amazed at the extra detail this brought from some 45 year old LP’s in my collection.
Tracking at 2 grams on the arm of a my Technics SL1210mk2, it is a tad quieter, but one notch up on the amplifier compensates for this. No problem.
Cleaner bass notes, beautifully clean mid range and treble. All this without any sibilance too.
Kate Bush has sounds really clear, sometimes her voice can be a bit sharp on other cartridges.
The Average White Band album has been on play constantly since.
Overall I’m pleased I purchased this Audio Technica AT-VM95SH cartridge. Five star.
Tracks very well with very little surface noise good bass and good separatio

Audio Technica AT VM95SH Cartridge:
Like I stated in my title item was bought as a “Back-Up Cartridge”
to my more costlier carts(MC & MI)but.it`s MUCH more than this.
Many other people have waxed lyrical about the SH & ML versions
so,I`ll just say,if you want to “hear” what higher end carts sound like,
get the “SH” it put you closer than it`s modest price would suggest.
Even if you can`t or don`t want to stretch to the “SH” or “ML” even,
buy a cheaper version & then later on move on up in the range!!!
Highly Recommended(“SH”)five stars.
i bought this Cartridge /Stylus combo because i looked at it from the point where i would be getting a great deal & also giving me the option of having a spare AT-vm95 Cartridge incase my Linn K9 packs up.. & i’m really over the moon with it..i have now built myself a little set of AT-VMN E.. EN.. ML now so that i can have fun with older records as well as new.. the quality of the ML is just something else in my opinion.. but as you move up you move on & i will enjoy the range i have & maybe the SH will be the next to come my way ..
Great cartridge, the Microline (hence ML) makes this cartridge not a million miles off the brilliant AT440MLa that I used to have about ten years ago. A lovely open sound and tracks the vinyl beautifully. Highly recommended for the money.
Been using the same Goldring cartridge for the past 32 years on my Thorens TD 280!! This AT-VM95E absolutely blows that out of the water! So glad that I decided to upgrade. Well worth the price. My vinyl sounds much clearer and brighter. Easy to fit, following instructions supplied. Fast and safe delivery too. Well packaged. Would recommend product and seller.
Toll !
Well made, like all Audio Technicas are, this is a great little moving magnet cartridge. It easily fitted into my Rega 303 tonearm on an Linn LP12 and worked no problem once set up.. It’s sound quality reminded me of Linns old K9/18 cartridges, (though sadly without those cartridges machined aluminium tops) smooth treble, deep bass and a sparkling midrange means you get excellent music reproduction at a sensible price, plus it’s upgradable to. You could buy this cartridge with a cheaper stylus and upgrade it when you decide on a better one, thereby saving you money, as the body works with all the stylus in the new 95 range. Highly recommended at any price point, from the bottom of the range, to the top model here, means it’s upgradable as and when you wish, therefore making it a bargain all round.
Wow,simply amazing.l have only just finished installing the AT-VM95SH on my turntable. The first record l played was Sade’s Promise album(original 1980s version, yes l am that old.lol.)& it sounded amazing. Her voice sounded even more silky smooth than it normally does.Pure class. This cartridge has not even run in yet & it sounds this good already!Things can only get even better after even more albums are played. There is so much more detail, the music just seems so much more well alive. This cartridge was an upgrade from a Audio Technica ATN95EX. I know it’s 3 times the price as my old cartridge but it’s definitely well worth it!l would not hesitate to recommend it!Fantastic upgrade.
Found this stylus of good quality sound haven’t had chance to test it properly yet but what I’ve heard I would recommend
Purchased this after reading many positive reviews. My listening pleasure had been plagued by inner groove distortion with my previous Ortofon 2m Red cartridge. I’m pleased to say this has totally eliminated any distortion, so very happy
I like unmudded sound, clear treble and good midrange and bass, I was a bit unshure I’d get it at this price so I was pleasantly surprised at the results, played though my Dual turntable, Onkyo amplifier and rebuild 1970s dynatron speakers.
Sounds great should get better with more hours played
Cheers
I nervously bought this as a replacement for my aging Linn K9. Knowing AT had built the K9 for Linn I was hoping this cartridge would be a good match for my system.
Install and set-up was very simple due to the threaded inserts (no need for fiddly nuts).
Once up and running I immediately noticed how worn the old stylus was as the detail and range was much improved, but maybe a touch bright.
The volume is also a fair bit lower at 3.5mv compared to the 4.5mv of my old K9, but any decent amp will not have an issue scaling this up.
The next thing you notice is the amount of dirt that the stylus digs up from what you thought were clean records! The microline stylus sits much deeper in the grooves than the K9 vital profile did. A second playing of an LP then gives you a dirt-free listen after the initial “clean”
After a few hours of bedding-in the initial brightness damps down and you can hear the cartridge perform at it’s best, and I must say it is a real treat and a perfect match for my system.
The other thing to note is the ability of this range to fit up to 6 styli into the common cartridge body. This means I could upgrade later to the shibata stylus or install one compatible for 78’s or older 7″ 45’s if I so wished. Pretty neat.
In my opinion this is a great cartridge/stylus for the price which will not disappoint.
Spitzenmig. Eines der besten Tonabnehmer die ich besitze. Und ich habe so einige….
Excellent quality cartridge replaced my Rega cartridge with it much better detailed sound but picks up crackle a bit more than other.
As you listen to cds and digital you expect vinyl to sound rubbish in comparison. When I bought my turn table and hooked it up through my Sonos I was pleasantly surprised. But when I changed the cartridge that came with it table to this one I was blown away. My kids just kept saying that’s not ac record out sounds to much like a CD
Fantastic for the money! Warm sounding with slightly chubby bass. Still detailed enough that you don’t miss anything.
Great cartridge for the price. Easy to fit. Tracks great and sounds great. You cant go wrong with Audio Technica cartridges if you dont want to spend silly money. Less than 200 notes for a Shibata is great value
Bought this as a replacement for an old Linn K9 fitted to my 30yr old Sondek lp12 which I brought out of semi retirement , the AT cartridge was easy to fit being almost identical size to the K9 and with the integrated screw mounting no fiddly tiny nuts . Aligned with no problem using a printed protractor , had to rebalance the arm as weight seemed different buy worth the effort . Sound quality is first class and to be honest as good as I remember the K9 being in its youth , if you’re on a budget then you can’t go wrong with this cartridge .
he AT95 has been a round for years my dad had one i have had three so far on different decks it must the bets value for money cartridge around
you will have to spend a lot of cash to get bette
Amazed at the sound quality for the price. Sounds like it could be 150!
Bought this as a replacement for the ATN91R cartridge and stylus on my AT-LP3 turntable. Have to say it has been a worth while upgrade, the difference is immediatly noticable and much better channel seperation. would recommend to anyone looking for a reasonably priced upgrade.
Thanks Audio Technica, the new cartridge you offer is really good. I have updated my SHARP – OPTONICA RP114 with the new cartridges you offering and I’m so pleased. My recommendations
This is an incredible stylus. Superb sound quality. I’d highly recommend i
hab getauscht mit den gelieferte auf at-lp 120, der klang ist viel dynamischer und klare
Bought this to replace an aging Stanton stylus on my Stanton T80. Official Stanton cartridges and stylus’ are hard to come by. Read online as it was a straight arm table I needed to look for a conical stylus. Installed this cartridge in the same alignment as the original came installed from Stanton. Sounds absolutely amazing now. Just wanted to play records, I don’t use my tables for DJ’ing anymore so can’t comment on its performance for that but for playback it’s great!
Excellent, sensibly priced cartridge. This was recommended to me by my local hi-fi retailer to replace the now discontinued Linn K5. Sounds great with my vintage Ariston RD80 turntable connected to a pair of Kanto K4 active speakers. Rediscovering my vinyl from the last four decades!
I can state that the Audio Technica VM95SH is the best cartridge I have ever bought. I also use an Audio Technica AT440MLB and a Nagaoka MP110 cartridges on my Reloop RP 7000 mk2 and Audio Technica AT-LP5 turntables respectively, but I couldn’t resist the urge to buy a cartridge with a Shibata stylus for under 200, despite being very happy with the other 2 cartridges,
In comparison to them, it is digs up as much detail from my record grooves as the AT440 and better than the MP110, it has the neutral tonal balance of the MP110 without the occasional brightly lit midrange and treble emphasis of the 440. It stays composed, never forced, and coherent on busy music passages better than both, plus like the 440, there is no inner groove distortion or record blemish exaggeration.
The Shibata tipped VM95SH is the top of the AT VM95 range which means you start with say a VM95E, then when ready to upgrade you can just change the stylus which I consider to be a clever marketing strategy by Audio Technica, which is similar to Ortofon but significantly less expensive.
The VM95SH is an excellent value for money cartridge which I believe punches above its weight and can compete with cartridges that are far more expensive with the same stylus profile.
So far so good. Had to replace my Goldring 2100. Has run in for 2 weeks now. Decent replacement.
Wow for the money this audiotechnica cartridge is amazing compared to the Carbon. Stereo separation is excellent. So easy to install too with new screws. Very clear through the sound ranges. Bright at first but settles after 20 minutes. Proves you don’t need to spend hundreds on these things. Fleetwood Mac Tusk sounds fabulous with cartridge on rega player and Dali Zensor 7 speakers….no sibilance either through the record tracks nicely. Buy it.
I wanted a cartridge that was versatile this fits the bill nicely, fantastic sound with the Shibata stylus installed in my secondary turntable a Rega Planar 1. I will get a second stylus probably the elliptical to play any 45s and any vinyl of lesser quality..This cartridge has threaded holes no fiddly nuts to contend with making the installation a lot easier, very impressed with this cartridge
Highly recommended…
Heard lots about how amazing Shibata styli are, but could never afford one because they have always been mega expensive, so when I discovered this new Audio Technica range, I thought I would try them out….I say “them” because these styli also fit the old Linn K5 and K9 cartridges.
This cartridge is presently playing on my Pro-Ject 2Xperience SB DC turntable in place of the Ortofon 2M originally fitted. I can only say that it is a massive improvement, not only on overall sound, but on tracking as well. This has tracked LPs that I haven’t been able to play for ages and it seems to find sounds and instruments that I never knew were recorded in those grooves.
This has been an amazing investment for my heavy metal damaged hearing and were one of the best upgrades I did to my turntable…..they look cool as well
