Good all day headphones, batter lasts a decent time. Case is a bit chunky and the heat through function uses microphones so pics up wind noise ect. Also microphone is very quite, however good for everyday use
I spent a long time reading reviews on ear buds, some reviews said ear buds can fail after a short time. So I was about to buy a cheap 35 set as I didn’t want to risk 100+ on them. Then I found these Audio-Technica ATH-SQ1TW. I like the Audio-Technica music kit (decks etc) so I bought them. They have 3 different size ear pieces so fit my ears well.
I play music via my Google Pixel phone and VLC player, it took me a long time to get the sound how I liked it using the VLC Equalizer, but now I find them great and I wont go back to headphones.
I would recommended them.
I’ve always been more inclined to wired headphones, but the purchase of a new phone that was lacking a jack socket I decided I had to join the modern world!
Having read various reviews on various options, these always came up well received, so a pair was ordered.
When they arrived, pairing was easy using the Google quick pair thingy, and off I went. The only fiddle was change the rubber cups to a size that fitted comfortably. Once I got the right pair, the fitting is excellent and so is the sound quality- great deep, rich and full tones.
Battery life is also good, I can easily get two-three days just using the case as a charger, while using the earphones for a good few hours at a time.
The case itself is very solid and fits in the pocket nicely, the earphones themselves are held securely while charging.
All in all, well worth the money
The batteries lasts ages as i can sit watching videos for hours without them dropping out, i have them connected to both my tablet and my phone (both on Android) and they seem to stay connected without having any connection issues even during setup.
They’re a little bit different to others i have seen as they seem to have gone for a more square look rather than the usual round one, which intrigued me at first but now i just find it normal.
Sound quality is much the same as a 200 set of over the ear headphones i use, although these are slightly less comfortable as they have to sit in your ear, it’s nothing to worry about even after a few hours.
Audio quality is really good and clear. Mids are not too muddy. Although they will never sound the same as open back headphones they still are amazing. Bluetooth range is decent. Battery life is something that could be improved
Audio-Technica are a damn good Japanese audio company who lack the marketing budget to reflect the standard of their headphones and earbuds, in my opinion. They are a suitable lower cost alternative to some of the bigger names and bigger marketing budgets like Shure and Bose.
These Bluetooth earbuds cost me under 70 and yet the build quality and color way is excellent and the sound quality is fantastic and pretty well balanced from my iPhone and Nintendo Switch (which is what they were bought for). Navy blue and rose gold – the style I got – same model available in both black and a white color way. They charge quickly and you get about six hours from one use out of the case with a second in reserve.
If you’re looking for a premium sound at under 100 then you can’t go wrong with these.
The HearThrough technology is brilliant. Earbuds often cut out too much peripheral noise, especially if you’re walking in a high traffic area, or cycling. HearThrough enables you to listen to your music, podcast, whatever, whilst also chanelling in the sound from around you, so you can still be aware of what’s going on around you. No more listening to music through one ear bud with these – pop them both in, turn HearThrough on, and it just works.
The touch buttons on the earbuds work really well too, and the sleek sealed design meant that getting them damp in the rain was not a worry.
Probably the only gripe I found with them is that they’re more geared up for Android than Apple connectivity, which made pairing with my dad’s phone a breeze. I had some challenge getting them to connect to my iPhone, Macbook, and Windows PC. Once connected to the PC, there was some audio lag between videos and the audio, and at times there appeared to be a slight lag between the left and right earbuds.
However, no problems at all listening to music on the phone once that was set up.
One thing that was a bit strange, and I think this is probably something they can fix in a firmware update, is that the earbuds occasionally turned themselves on and connected whilst in their closed case, which then took over the audio from my computer.
At this price, I was very happy with these earbuds. They’re not quite as polished as higher end brands, but aside from those few little inconveniences, they feel like a solid choice for good quality audio whilst out and about.
Excellent earbuds for the price that they are offered. I am impressed with how light they are all together, with the case combined. It’s very light, therefore making it super easy to carry around with you and not feel it weighing down your pocket everywhere you go. The actual earbuds themselves are also very light and comfortable. Once I put them on I forget that they are on. I have however noticed that they can cause some pain in the ear after prolonged use, but that might be fixed by changing the silicone tip for the earbud.
The sound quality is really good. Perhaps not as good as the higher-end earbuds but that is to be expected with the price range. I would say that the sound on these exceeds other earbuds in the same price range.
Sound isolation is decent enough. Again, not as good as the higher ends but I didn’t find myself struggling to hear my music anywhere.
Overall, I would confidently say that I am happy with this purchase and I would recommend these to anyone that is thinking of buying some earbuds in this price range.
I’ve got a bit of a fixation for earphones. Over the years I have tried many. These ones are actually quite good for the money. Comfortable and easy to fit for my ears, can’t comment on the reliability of the battery life as yet but I found them easy to setup and connect. The sound quality is good and I was pleased with my purchase.
I am really impressed how comfortably these earphones sit in the ear canal once you pick the right size tip and rotate the earphone. Furthermore the sound quality exceeded my expectations and honesty for a long time I didn’t experience such a joy listening to some of my favourite tracks. No doubt these Audio-Technica earphones are replacing my old ones. Of course it takes time to get used to touch sensors and how to navigate them, but confirmation tone played helps with that. The charging case is a bit bulky, but it has strong magnets to keep earphones securely in place and of course provides hours of prolonged battery life. Earphones pair with Android smartphone directly via Bluetooth and no app installed required. Also, music keeps playing even one earphone is taken out or you can tap once to pause. Overall I am really pleased with these Japan made earphones. They are my best owned wireless earphones for the sound quality and price. Only positive experience so far. Thanks
Noise Isolation, yes. It’s not ANC – It has acceptable isolation if you thing that it has not active noise cancelling.
Connection: I do have a Pixel 6 and for those who does not know but it’s a vanilla (basic) android basic with no vendors customization and as soon as I get one out of the box it identifies in my PIxel and asks me to connect. The bad thing? If it’s already connected you can’t connect to another one as it only supports one connection per time (to me is an advantage as I normally like to connect to my laptop and my smarphone). Also, when you have it connected and you don’t remember where is it. I didn’t find a way to disconnect using only the case or the earbud. The only way was to go one by one that I remembered I ever connected and then diconnect.
Case: I personally liked the case, it’s lightweight and easy to fit your earbud. However, I missed the fact that you don’t know what is the level of your battery you can only see when it’s charging at the back of the case. It uses a cable type c.
Functions: It has an unlocking feature which to me was something useful so it avoids touching by mistake which you can do easily if you are just adjusting the fitting into your ears.
The problem is wih the music functions, the right earbud controls the play/pause, rewind, rewing and fast forward if you want to just pause it sometimes gets messed up with the functions.
Call controls are pretty much standard no issues with that.
Low Latency mode is a good one when you expecience delays between the actual video, it’s hard to get that when you are not watching somethign as you can’t see the delay between the scene and sound.
Conclusion: if you can invest more on a better earbud and you care about comfort and excelling the sound experience you should go for another one but if you are just fine with a good experience of sound and your ears are not that sensitive as mine I would go for this one as the price isn’t bad by what it delivers.
I have tested many headphones of various pricing brackets. These are absolutely out of this world for the money. The connection is great. The hearthrough is great and the battery is great.
This headphones are perfect headphones for the average poweruser at entry level price.
Compared to bigger name ear pods. I feel you get what you pay for. A mid range product. Comfortable to wear, easy to connect in a compact box. Controls could be easier to use and little bulkier than some but a quality built product. Would recommend if mid budget, much better than some but not the best.
These earplugs are really comfortable to wear for hours, they don’t like some do. I had to use the small cups because I have small ears, great idea of supplying different sizes. The sound quality is Crystal clear, was able to immerse myself in my music without hearing other noises too. They hold their charge for a long time which I really do like. The only negative thing I found with these were that they are not compatible with iPhone which was not good, would have been better if they we’re compatible with any Bluetooth. Overall opinion is these are very good and compact.
However, in practice, due to the excellent fit possible in the ear canal (they come with 4 sizes of ear tip, rather than the more usual 3) the natural noise reduction is very good. There is a hear-through mode, selected by touch, which leaks a small amount of ambient noise — helping to keep you in touch with your surroundings. This seems fairly ineffective when listening to music at above 50% volume.
The possible excellent fit is assisted by the buds naturally extending deep into the ear canal. Initially, I found this quite uncomfortable, but after choosing the correct tip size and rotating the buds slightly when inserting, the fit is very good. I can now wear them for many hours without discomfort.
There could be many debates about sound quality and audio enhancements, but Audio-Technica equipment has a reputation generally for a very ‘flat’ frequency response, not requiring any treble/bass boosting. For me, this ‘flat’ response is also provided by these earbuds, with clear trebles and bass, without any predominantly boosted frequencies. I have listened to many hours of music from diverse genres, and I find the experience very good. Some do not like a flat response, and the lack of an app for sound tuning will disappoint those looking for bass-boosting.
The low latency option (via touch control) is useful when streaming content from TV or device — it’s not 100%, but makes content very watchable (otherwise the lag is quite bad). Low latency selection could have been automatic if the latest Qualcomm aptX codec was built-in.
Bluetooth pairing is very fast and solid — reconnection to paired sources is reliably repeatable. However, don’t wander into a different room or stand near a running microwave — the connection will drop, which is a common Bluetooth issue, but some earbuds can handle this better. The buds can be worn singly too, which I did for phone calls because even with the hear-through activated, I could not get used to my own muffled voice? The microphones are good — I did not receive any negative comments from callers. I did not try calls outdoors in windy conditions — most earbuds would fail this test anyway.
Overall, I really like these earbuds, and I am using them more than others I own, mainly due to the excellent fit and very balanced sound profile produced when connected to almost any source.
I have had several earbuds over the past few years and they seem to be getting smaller, but the sound is incredible. These in ear earbuds fit nicely in your ears; the controls are a little overwhelming as they need a dextrous touch. Once sorted the quality of sound is simply beautiful, offering high quality audio. These are the first earbuds I have tried which can be either used either flexible dual or one on it’s own. They come with a blue tooth option so easily connect with smartphones or your personal computer easily. They even have a voice guidance option, which is smart, as it provides notifications of remaining battery levels. Wow, these are amazing.
