BG Electrical NBS22G-01 Double Switched Power Socket, Brushed Steel, 13 Amp

Bought 3 of these 9 months ago when completely redecorating the old living room and i was very impressed with the nice neat finish it gave to the living room. I also bought the light switch to match and it really does give the room that extra neat touch. I’m quite lucky to have an Electrician as my neighbour and he installed them all within 30 minutes with ease so cant complain. The delivery and packaging was great aswell so five stars from me :).

I can’t fault this product at all, it simply wasn’t the right product to cover my BT phone line box
the product looks great, was great delivery and prompt service etc I’ve given 5 stars because I feel it wrong to blame the product when I just ordered the wrong thing

Easy to fit, high quality switches. The back has a transparent (invisible when fitted) plastic back surround which prevents wall damage while giving a flush fit. The satin steel faceplate is lacquered to resist fingerprints. Very easy to fit with colour-coded terminals. And a reassuring ‘clunk’ when the switch is used.

My main purpose in wanting to switch my current sockets is that the standard white looked awful and boring alongside my current kitchen. The brushed steel looks amazing and even better fitted on the wall. They really stand out and give the kitchen a little wow factor. Great quality and good value for money. Would recommend.

Good price terminals could be in a better position as white one i took off was so easy to install before, first one came faulty as did a electric twin socket as i purchased 4 of these but one faulty, so be aware when buying a few you will get the odd duds , prob down to price & manufacturer other than that nice & sturdy & look the part so happy.

Bought these to replace some Lap branded ones from Screwfix. The quality is miles better and the rocker switch mechanism just feels so much better. Solidly built and gives the impression it will last a long time. Looks fabulous on the wall too. Will buy this brand in future and staying away from poorer quality products.

Nice looking socket, easy to install. The screws are a slightly different finish to standard screws so if you need to use longer screws, you’ll probably have to use ones that are not a perfect match.

great switch. the ‘screw’ to set the minimum dimmage is fragile and once you set it once, if you dont do it extremely carefully, you won’t be able to change the setting again easily since the plastic gets damaged if you turn it with a metal screwdriver. this was a non issue for me though, since I just wanted it to set to maximum output so that I could use it as a circular on/off switch.

RE the other parts though, they all seem high quality. everything that I needed was included.

the switch was also dropped on the floor hard, and didnt even get a scratch on it! which was a really nice surprise.

when in operation the switch makes a very light buzzing sound that you can hear if you get up close to it. the buzzing is much, much quieter than my old dimmer, and is hardly noticable unless you are in a super quiet room with your head next to the switch.

pressing the switch is nice and satisfying, gives a nice click, not too easy to press inwards and not too hard either – just perfect.

my only issue is that there aren’t any screw covers which I think wouldve made the product look even nicer, just in case someone scratches their 2 screws for whatever reaso

I installed these myself despite never doing it before the instructions are very easy to follow make sure to turn your power off the floor you’re installing… They look really nice, I needed to do a little touching up mid switch on the paint work but otherwise I was really pleased with the quality and look.

Will get some more for my down stairs when I’ve finished decorating!

Prompt dispatch and just what I needed and it also matches all my other sockets and light switches, who needs to go for the more expensive option of skimming a wall where the old switch was when you can buy 1 of these face plates to cover it up and they also look good and plus if you wanted to put the existing switch back in the same place then all you have to do is just remove the face plate rather than having to have the messy job of having to chase out the wall again.

These look great in the kitchen and are a massive improvement from the old white plastic ones however two or the three have scratches on. Whether they were like that when I got them or I managed to scratch them between the stage of opening the box and fitting it on the wall who knows but you need to be careful handling these.

Easy to install, very high polish (shine) finish, (higher than I expected, i.e. Mirror shine!)
Metallic coated plastic face plate, felt ‘cheap’ when in hand.
BG are generally Good quality, however this faceplate just felt cheap and tacky.
Maybe I’m being too harsh, you get what you pay for and at the end of the date this is just a faceplate.

Arrived on time and looks great in my new kitchen , the grey looks really stylish .

I have started to favour BG over MK, BG quality is just as good and may even be better for some products compared to MK, and is almost always cheaper.

Regarding these metal BG switches, the thing I liked is that the actual switch matches the faceplate – have a look at others where the switch is in contrasting plastic – this is much better asthetically.

I bought this before reading other reviews. Unlike some other users I’ve had no issues with this. Found the internals just fine; no different to other units I have bought. Took 15 mins to remove my old blown dimmer and pop this in its place. All worked perfectly first time – need to see how it goes over time.
It has a nice, shinier than expected, finish. I’m happy having just installed it.

I purchased the polished chrome finish, which looks beautiful and much more expensive than it actually was. The finish is excellent. The installation for this socket is very simple and is exactly the same as re-wiring a single plug socket with the benefit of having the two USB sockets. Brilliant! Will probably purchase a couple more for around the house!

The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars, instead only 4, is that it feels a bit flimsy and cheaply made because the metal/metallic cover is extremely thin and the plastic terminals/connectors on the back seem a bit puny too.

Excellent product. Comes very well packaged with a clear set of fitting instructions (with diagrams) and with fitting screws. The product is extremely well made. It is great to look at, the switch works cleanly and effectively, the inside fittings are substantial with excellent screws to secure internal wiring. I bought one to try and then carried on buying to complete the full set throughout my house – all were perfect. Very pleased indeed.

Love these. Replaced all of the sockets in my kitchen and lounge with them. Nice brushed steel finish on them, which doesn’t show fingerprints like a chrome finish would. Be aware that they need more space behind them than a standard non-usb power socket, so if your back boxes are quire shallow, you may struggle to get them to fit.

It was time to get rid of usb adaptors of various types and have a neater more 21st century look. These (I bought another shortly afterwards) look good and have performed perfectly. Fitting is easy, or rather would be if my house had not been built in the late 70’s when metrication was not well advanced, the problem was that the existing patress (?) boxes into which the socket is fixed were threaded for British Standard and the supplied screws are metric. The problem sorted itself as once the tip of the screw was engaged (a bit of a faff) and with the need for quite a little energy turning the screwdriver the screws cut themselves a new thread. Why aren’t all screws Philips head instead of slotted it makes life so much easier and means a power screw driver can be used whereas with slotted it keeps slipping off the screw head. None of these minor problems and irritations is down to the Nexus product. This has performed exactly as I would hope. I’ve fitted them to ring mains and found plenty of room to get 2 or 3 wires into each terminal. The one thing I can blame Nexus for (well sort of) is that the sockets overall size is a few mm smaller than those I replaced and as I had papered up to the old sockets rather than under them there is now a small 2-3mm gap around each socket. This was not the case on the double socket which replaced an existing one from the same stable as the old singles. Fortunately the sockets are concealed by furniture so not a problem. You might want to check out dimensions and get hold of the correct screws if needed.
