Amazing piece of kit . Does exactly what it says on the tin.
Shreds everything with ease, including plastic cards , paperwork with staples.
Delighted with the build quality, apart from rubbish castors which need to be larger and not made of plastic, for the size and weight of the shredder.
Apart from that it does its job very well
The esembly needs to be done carefully as the walls are a bit flimsy. The construction of the working top is solid and well made. The capture bin fits well and collect a lot of shredded paper. Be careful when moving it about the house as the wheels are small. When putting paper in and you pause the motor will automatically go in reverse for a sec or two, so be aware. Otherwise a good shredder.
This paper shredder is first class and the cuttings that remain cannot be collected and joined back together.
Each piece of paper is shredded into a multitude of minute balls. There are no strips of paper that could be joined back together afterwards, A great peace of mind.
This is probably one of the best shredders I’ve used. It’s surprisingly quiet for how much it can cut. It can run constantly for an hour or thereabouts. The Bin does get full quite quick but to be honest it’s not a hassle. It’s easy to empty. This is a proper quality product not like some of the cheaper versions. It is a heavy machine that’s probably why they performs so well.
Much prefer this shredder to our old one. It’s pretty quiet, and seems to be strong. The only thing that could be improved is the mess when you need to empty the hopper – no matter how carefully you try to remove the hopper, the bits of paper go everywhere.
Very quickly shreds multiple sheets of paper with ease but if staples are included this may limit it’s capacity to less than 18 sheets – I have jammed this a few times because of this. Never had it overheat even after an hour of continuous use.
Nice paper shredder a bit smaller than i thought but big enough for what i need and very quiet when in in use just wont try shreading staples or cds like the last one as it jammed up…
Only eats one disc at a time but once you get into the swing of it you can get through hundreds of disks in an hour.
Perfect for saving the high cost of data shredding by third parties. The cost we were quoted was 60p per disk, with thousands to do this machine saved us hundreds of pounds.
Wow this shredder is brilliant it shreds at leat 15 sheets of paper, it does pay to pay more money for this item as they say you get what you pay for, the bin is big

Comparing with my recent selection there can be no comparison. Many problems with poorly packaged unit supplied already damaged ‘X’ two. This unit to me in my price range is like comparing a banged up Ford Escort with a 5 series BMW. Its operation is very simple and very quiet. It just gobbles up the paper, credit cards & staples, I feed it with with hardly a change in the noise emitted by its motor. It is very easy to empty, just a pull out draw and the job is done.
I needed a shredder which was reasonably priced but could also cope a high volume of shredding. By high volume, I mean 12 full black bin-liners of paper at the end of it. I can report that this unit handled the demand perfectly. It didn’t jam once, didn’t overheat and just kept going and going. To be honest, with so much shredding to do, the human is more likely to break and need a break than this machine !
Very pleased with the unit and would happily recommend to others needing something a bit beefy without breaking the bank. It’s also a lot quieter than other shredders I have used in the past too.
After reading many reviews and articles, I decided to go with the 18-sheet version of this paper shredder, mainly because I also wanted to shred cardboard as well. I’m glad I did. It’s a lot quieter than I thought it would be, which is excellent. It gets through standard single-walled corrugated cardboard very easily. I was able to shred up the large Amazon box and outer box that this shredder came shipped in with ease. It’s fairly easy to push around on the supplied castor wheels and they can be easily removed if you want to.
If I had one niggle about this shredder it would be that the waste bin could do with being a bit larger so that I don’t have to empty it as frequently, but that’s a very minor point.
A very powerful shredder the only downside is the speed at which it devours paper….its not slow but it could be faster when shredding large volumes of paperwork.
Runs quietly when shredding paper. So far it has managed to nicely shred several sheets at a time (it does noticeably slow when there are more pages in one go but keeps shredding none the less).
The unit itself looks good and is easy to move on the built-in rollers.
Great item strong and fast. After my last 2 smaller shredders broke only after a few days or weeks I took the plunge to buy this more expensive Shredder and I am pleased I did its a lot more stronger and professionally built a great bit of kit that will save you a lot of money in the long term
I bought this as I now work from home 60% of the time and needed a good quality heavy duty shredder. This has been great so far. Very high capacity. No problems at all. Handles staples etc . Seems very robust.
Over the years we’ve accumulated a lot of paperwork and this thing goes through it really quickly. Might be considered excessive for domestic use but who really wants to be shredding 4-6 sheets at a time with a tiny thing.
This shredder easily handles multiple pages and card. I’m using it to shred cardboard delivery boxes for use as composting material. I’ve run it continuously for 30 mins at a time and no sign of overheating. It is definitely a lot quieter then others I’ve used. I have it three months and it gets moderate use. I’m happy it’s up to the job. I’ve had several home use shredders before and none have impressed or lasted any reasonable amount of time before jamming or breaking. I’ve had no jamming with this. It’s definitely a step up, good performance and great value.
This the second of this model shredder I have brought. The first suffered abusive overuse for years and when I had a problem was replaced without quibbling. Good company & good shredde
My son put me onto this has he runs a busy office that produces shed loads of sensitive documents that need to be kept confidential. Being a person that keeps every bit of paper going back to the year dot! I needed to get rid of files that are more than 20 years old but still sensitive information that could identify me to a scammer. This piece of kit whizzes through shredding them, staples and all. Been using it regularly a couple of months and can honesty say I do know what I would do without it. Highly recommended for fast efficient destruction of sensitive documents that have been digitised for clutter free archiving.
Bought this shredder more for shredding cardboard that it more than capable of doing.
With its capability of shredding 18sheets of paper, it is really shown what this shredder can do. Not only that it is like it in theory but it is like that in real life. It shreds through anything from paper, cardboard, credit cards, CDs and who knows what.
Obviously with shredding heavy stuff often it will require some basic maintenance in order to prolong its life as well.
Automatic feature works very well and I am not sure what it takes for this thing to overheat as I used to shred cardboard for nearly 15 minutes straight and it was still cold. Upgraded cooling feature with fans in the back definitely works and helps keep this thing cool.
So if you are looking for beast in shredding world you will definitely not make a mistake with this one.
Purchased to shred cardboard for grandson to make fire blocks for wood stove. Changed the job from being a chore to great fun apparently! I am now the best Nanny in the world! Hope it lasts
had a few cheaper units before, this one is much much quieter than any of the others Ive had and shreds multiple pages with ease. Nice big bin as well. thoroughly recommend for a good powerful home shredder.
The first shredder I’ve had that appears to be able to shred multiple pages with ease. Not overly noisy for a shredder, it accommodates bank cards and CD’s as well. It’s well made and has, so far, been reliable. I purchased the Bonsai oiled sheets for maintenance and now its approx two years old, it still works as it did when new. Great piece of kit!
This is my second one, first died a month outide warranty. [Bonsaii very helpful – replacement blocked by Amazon] I use them hard so decided to go again. next review may not be so kind……

This machine is a hungry monster, it pretty much handles any thing I feed it, should I need to dispose of a body, I’m pretty sure that my new little friend could help me out. It’s reasonably quiet compared to my old machine. It does run on a few seconds after feeding, enough time to swallow and lick its lips, and the fan runs for a couple of seconds more, which is good, as my old machine would only do a handful of docs before it needed to be left to cool down, for fear of it becoming the ultimate in security by shredding and then incinerating your confidential waste. The good sized bin is a bit clunky pulling out, but easy enough to swap the bags out when removed. It feels pretty solid and well made, but time will tell if it lives to be an old friend
Extremely efficient micro cut paper shredder which must achieve amongst the topmost security rating for such machines. Bought to replace a worn out, less robust and cheaper model from another manufacturer but in fairness it must be said that my original shredder did function well albeit with a much smaller capacity of fed paper sheets and was much noisier. I rate this Bonsaii as an excellent buy.
Keep having to buy more expensive shredders as they keep breaking down, so decided to bite the bullet & get a well relatively expensive one 150 quid not cheap.
Any way so far so good, arrived on time packaged well, the built in wheels means it moves ok & no having to put it together.
Finished my current shredding marathon (interrupted by previous machine breakdown).
Coped with staples and bundles of papers ok, like the fan which should reduce overheating (a previous & frustrating problem).
So now all about longevity.
Did order some oil to go with it, as suspect that may have not helped previous machines longevity.
The built in bin is a real plus as previous ones you had to lift the shredder unit off.

Very pleased with this shredder. Noise level acceptable. Shredded paper into very small pieces. Says it would take 14 sheets at a time. I feel this would be a bit much unless the sheets were very thin. I put through 7 to 8 sheets at a time, seemed to manage easily. Also chews up staples. Would recommend.

I needed a ‘more than just a few pages’ shredder to quickly clear a backlog of papers at home. The C149-C eats multi-sheets and old credit cards fast – JUST THE THING if you have a clear out. So 5***** Great value (Yes of course it makes a bit of noise whilst it is actually shredding, but less than I would have readily expect & accepted)
AND ANOTHER THING: My first shredder failed recently and the brand name bonsaii and the stickers with the contact service numbers all failed to work (number no longer in use) GREAT NEWS THOUGH – JUSTAR (the supplier – when Amazon helped me find them) were BRILLIANT. They replied next day to my email and after a few reasonable checks that they coached me through by email, and my confirmatory replies, A replacement was on its way. So EXEMPLORY ‘SEVEN’ Star after sales and customer service. It’s a tough machine, but when there was a problem – they solved it.
This really is an amazing shredder, although in fairness I have had it less than a month. The buttons are slightly sticky but hopefully they will ‘wear in ‘. Have not found a micro shredder that is lower than this price. It shreds perfectly especially for highly confidential paperwork . The waste bin is also extremely large. I just hop[e it continues to work as perfectly as it does now.
Only had it for a day so possibly too early for a review but so far I’m really pleased with it. I’ve had a number of 50 shredders previously and most have lasted a few years before giving up but this one is in a different league. I bought it because I had an enormous pile of paperwork to dispose of as my last shredder bit the dust about 3 years ago so decided to get something a bit more industrial. The difference between this and my previous shredders is chalk and cheese, the Bonsaii just keeps running and running and over the course of 4 hours I’d converted a massive pile to shreds, filling the bin 6 times when squished down. I did oil the cutters each time I emptied the bin, this is an often overlooked but essential maintenance requirement.
It can eat 18 sheets of 80gsm paper in one go but you can hear it starting to labour so I was feeding about 10 at a time which hardly causes the motor to slow at all. I had a few gaps whilst I filed the stuff that needed to be retained but I ended up with about 4 hours of almost continuous use without it overheating, my previous shredders would shut down after not much more than 15 minutes of 5 sheets at a time followed by at least a 30 minute wait. It has a fan built in which probably helps. Noise levels are low, you can easily hold a normal conversation whilst it’s running.
Now the mother load has been cleared it’s life will become much easier so hopefully it will be in service for some years to come.

Tried the market leader 4 times but still broke or overheated so thought I’d spend a bit more and went for several over 300 but this does all the market leader does and can run for almost an hour and it’s half the price of the market leader.

Absolutely fantastic shredder, my old cheap one just got blocked and over heated all the time, this one sheds paper and clip etc with ease. Goes through paper like butter and the sheds are so small no one is ever likely to ready a single thing off them, very very quiet too which is great.
If you want documents shredded properly Don’t buy a cheaper one buy a Bonsai!!
The Bonsai HD Shredder is easy to set up and simply no trouble to use. No over heating cutouts and does everything it claims. My one constructive comment would be that it would be improved by a larger bin.
A workhorse compared to the run of the mill shredders you can can get from UK supermarkets, though it is important to deploy the recommended lubrication to ensure longevity. As a result of how finely it shreds, there is fine dust produced which may make it unsuitable for use in confined spaces. The close/open sensor is a bit hit and miss. However to know you have a shredder which can handle at least four A4 100gsm sheets at a time for nearly an hour continuously without overheating, confirms we have a very robust machine, still going strong for me several months down the road.
All the positives about this shredder that are stated or advertised we found to be 100% accurate. Very easy to use, the casters on the bottom ensure you can move around easily, and it can shred about 18 sheets of A$ at a time.
I have owned a few shredders in my time and the Bonsaii is easily the best.
This is one beast of a shredder and at a reduced price too. It eats cardboard and 18 sheets of paper with no problem without jamming it runs smooth on the wheels and the waste bin is a good size.I bought this as I had hundreds of old photos collecting dust so I have digitised them and shredded the old photos and this beast was flawless.
Have now had this shredder for over a year. Regularly shred large quantities of paper and cardboard boxes for recycling. This has never failed and because of the fan is able to run for long periods without overheating. Definitely recommended.
Love this machine, we do a lot of online shopping that comes wrapped in paper as packaging. I make paper fire bricks so this is perfect for shredding the paper before soaking. Does a brilliant job on cardboard boxes too. The white bag is the cardboard.
Got this one after my nephew killed my cheap 7 sheet job by trying to shred about 12 sheets. I wasn’t able to save it. Kind of glad it went though – it would overheat and auto stop more frequently than I liked.
This new one shreds everything I throw at it. And I’ve had a decent shredding session and it hasn’t stopped or complained. You get what you pay for. And so I reckon this is good value for its abilities.
I had a lot of shredding to do, and the previous shredder had given up the ghost. This shredder has a nice big capacity and can shred up to 18 sheets of paper at a time. It goes virtually non-stop for an hour before you have to let it cool down. The wheels make moving it around really easy. Great value for money if you have lots to shred.
Definately much quieter than my other shredder . Quick and smooth, Ideal capacity for a small business that does quite a lot of shredding. I was a bit surprised it dd not have an automatic cut off when fingers get near. Ffor the price I would have though this should be included, as it was on my old one at half the price. My fault for not reading the documentation properly.

I have used the shredder to get rid of loads of old confidential papers and it gets through these very efficiently. It is fairly quiet, too, and quick and easy to use.
The shreds are very small and secure, too. Good idea to buy some shredder oil, too, to keep the shredder at maximum efficiency.
This shredder is amazing, I have been able to shred at least 7 dustbin bags of paper in a short period of time. Unlike most shredders this has a continuous shred for about an hour with a very quick cool down period. Definitely worth the money if you have LOADS to shred.
We bought this as an upgrade from a cheap Fellows shredder, one which would frequently choke on it’s rated 6 sheets and then need a lie down to cool off after just a few minutes work.
By comparison, this Bonsai unit chewed it’s way through a 2ft tall 2ft square wicker basket full of confidential waste in one afternoon without missing a beat. The only thing that held it back was how fast I could feed it, so clearly the cooling fan in this design makes a real difference.

I love that it’s on wheels and moves around easily even on carpet.
I love that the paper drawer pulls out, no more lugging off the top section and it has a bag to catch all the bits which makes it even easier to empty. There are still bits that end up on the floor but I can cope with that.
It can take 7 sheets at a time, but I don’t push it, it might be a large shredder but it’s still a ‘home’ one, not built for industrial use, and I want it to last. I bought the oil to lubricate with, made the mistake of not doing that in the past, it really helps prolong the life and keep things from grinding to a halt (literally).
Finally, it’s the quietist shredder I’ve ever had!
Time will tell how robust it is and how it wears but as I’ve said, it’s a two way street.
We bought this shredder for our admin office after first getting another well know brand which was absolute rubbish and was sent back. The Bonsaii is brilliant. Used now for a few weeks and never once jammed up or had to use reverse for any reason. All I would say is that the recommendation of maximum sheets at once is far too many. I have only gone to about 6 or 8 at a time. But I have absolutely no negative points about this shredder. It really is excellent.

Low noise when operating
I see I have owned this for nearly a year and it has performed reliably throughout. Over the previous 3 years I have had to bin two cheaper shredders. This one lasts the distance.
Was pleasantly surprised at how quiet this shredder was compared to the last shredder I had. The fact it can run for an hour compared to having to shut my last one down after 10-15 minutes to let it cool down for almost the same amount of time and was taking less paper to shred. This one takes more paper and with the front access you are not continually emptying the shredded paper which is collected in a bag that I made use of to collect the shredded paper(came with the shredder) I also bought the paper which oils the shredder to keep it in good condition. There is an option if you want to buy collection bags on Amazon if desired

An excellent shredder which unfortunately decided to stop working after six months of very light use. So why give it five stars, I hear you ask? Well, we contacted the manufacturer, Bonsaii immediately and their customer services team were on the case at once. We described what the shredder was doing i.e. fan running continuously in ‘shred’ mode but not reacting to paper being introduced for shredding. They asked us to send them a short video to show what was happening. All this only took a couple of days. They then said that they were replacing the shredder with a new one and we didn’t need to return the old one. The new one arrived about two days later and is happily working well. That to me warrants the five stars I’ve given.
We had a clear-out of all our paperwork spanning back decades and ended up with reams and reams of paper and old credit cards that needed shredding. I was using an old shredder we got from a high street store, but every 10 minutes it would stop and get really hot.
So…I invested in something I hope would do the job…

It did the job so well I actually felt disappointed when I ran out of paper to shred!!!!
In the end I shredded 3 bin sacks full of paper. I took a photo of the last one and have attached it here.

In fact, it never stopped or jammed once.
It’s really quick, has in built cooling fans and a nice big compartment for the shreddings. It cuts really well and I have nothing negative to say at all. It’s really not that noisy either.
If you want a beast of a shredder, that does what it says on the tin, this is the shredder for you. 🙂

I already had a small shredder which said it took 6 sheets of paper but regularly blocked. So I bought this Bonsaii having read other reviews.
I am very pleased.
Now I can shred 10 – 12 sheets of paper at a time easily, although lots of paper shredding makes it stop to cool down after about 15 minutes.
However, the added bonus is that I can now shred cardboard as well. Who would have thought this could be so useful? I needed mulch for my allotment, and I now can shred all the brown cardboard that arrives in my house so that it is immediately ready to put round my plants.
You really have to spend this amount to get a good, sturdy, RELIABLE shredder. Now that I work from home, I go thru a mountain of paper/month and the shredder is on for a good 10-15 mins say once a month to avoid a huge build-up of sensitive documents and other paper items to be shredded.
It is very easy to work and shreds 8-10 sheets easily. More sheets than that it is prone to jam. TO clear the jam involves tugging, reversing until it lets go off the paper. Highly recommend for up to 8 sheets.

Great machine. Munches through a lot of paper and cardboard with no trouble at all. Saves hours when I compare against my cheaper machine that use to run out of puff very quickly and was always jamming. Shocked just how much paperwork we needed to shred. Good job done now and will keep on top of it in future.
Bought this to replace old 5 sheet shredder. The difference is chalk and cheese. I had been going through old paperwork and with the mountain I had for shredding this paper shredder made short work of it in double quick time. It was no effort and very quiet. I also bought the oil for the cutters. I would highly recommend this product.
Despite being inside two boxes, this shredder was broken when it arrived. The back of the case had been smashed. However, we did test it before returning it because I intended to buy another one but this time in person when the lockdown is lifted.
This may be a fairly expensive shredder but it is absolutely superb in what it does. It will chew through anything you can throw at it. And it doesn’t slow down or overheat. It will easily keep shredding for the full hour that it states in the description. So in terms of performance, I cannot fault it. Just a shame it arrived damaged. But, it is definitely on my list to buy when the stores open again.
I have had one of these shredders for just under a year, during which it performed without any problems and cleared my home office of years of stuff. At eleven months it stopped working completely, not broken just deceased, which was dealt with by Justar Office under warranty with the minimum of fuss and a replacement machine despatched without delay. It would appear from Justar investigation that the main PCB had developed a fault and I would rate this as just bad luck, and in consequence I wanted and got the same machine back again.
Do I rate the Bonsaii 18 sheet shredder highly – yes. Do I rate Justar Office (the supplier) highly – yes
I work from home and shred a lot of paper each week, this shredder is excellent, it will shred with the staples still in, which is a big plus as most of my paperwork is stapled together, it takes card and also plastic. When it first arrived I filled 4 large bin bags with shredded paper and it never overheated once.
It is very quiet compared to my last shredder. I like the big collection bin, the only gripe I have with it is that when you empty the bin some of the shredding falls down behind the bin and then onto the floor. My last shredder had a top that removed so this didn’t happen. But I am still more than happy with it.
So I was sceptical about spending significantly more than i would have paid for an entry level shredder… but my gosh this is worth it! Excellent build, relatively quiet, and got through all my papers very quickly. I have no idea why I didn’t get one of these sooner.
This is a great piece of equipment. Unfortunately it jammed after eleven months. I contacted bonsaii customer service and was very pleasantly surprised. A few emails, pictures and suggestions later they decided the pcb had failed, and arranged to send a new replacement which arrived three days later. You don’t often get such service these days! Well done bonsaii!!
The 18 sheet shredder was like brand new, so great value. I have modified the top cover to accomodate for plastic shredding which is my primary reason for purchase. This machine is very powerful, yet very simple, and probably reliable. It will do 18 sheets all day long I would imagine. I am an engineer and can say that the blades are very robust, there is plastic inserts between blades but is made from quality nylon so will not break even with the abuse I am putting it through. I am more happy with the purchase then I thought initially. And its very quiet make no mistake.

Delighted with the build quality, apart from rubbish castors which need to be larger and not made of plastic, for the size and weight of the shredder.

The esembly needs to be done carefully as the walls are a bit flimsy. The construction of the working top is solid and well made. The capture bin fits well and collect a lot of shredded paper. Be careful when moving it about the house as the wheels are small. When putting paper in and you pause the motor will automatically go in reverse for a sec or two, so be aware. Otherwise a good shredder.
This paper shredder is first class and the cuttings that remain cannot be collected and joined back together.
Each piece of paper is shredded into a multitude of minute balls. There are no strips of paper that could be joined back together afterwards, A great peace of mind.
This is probably one of the best shredders I’ve used. It’s surprisingly quiet for how much it can cut. It can run constantly for an hour or thereabouts. The Bin does get full quite quick but to be honest it’s not a hassle. It’s easy to empty. This is a proper quality product not like some of the cheaper versions. It is a heavy machine that’s probably why they performs so well.
Much prefer this shredder to our old one. It’s pretty quiet, and seems to be strong. The only thing that could be improved is the mess when you need to empty the hopper – no matter how carefully you try to remove the hopper, the bits of paper go everywhere.
Love this model, perfect for the office. Low noise level. Would highly recommend.
Does what it says long running times shreads lots of paper perfect.
Very quickly shreds multiple sheets of paper with ease but if staples are included this may limit it’s capacity to less than 18 sheets – I have jammed this a few times because of this. Never had it overheat even after an hour of continuous use.

Nice paper shredder a bit smaller than i thought but big enough for what i need and very quiet when in in use just wont try shreading staples or cds like the last one as it jammed up…

Only eats one disc at a time but once you get into the swing of it you can get through hundreds of disks in an hour.
Perfect for saving the high cost of data shredding by third parties. The cost we were quoted was 60p per disk, with thousands to do this machine saved us hundreds of pounds.
Wow this shredder is brilliant it shreds at leat 15 sheets of paper, it does pay to pay more money for this item as they say you get what you pay for, the bin is big

Comparing with my recent selection there can be no comparison. Many problems with poorly packaged unit supplied already damaged ‘X’ two. This unit to me in my price range is like comparing a banged up Ford Escort with a 5 series BMW. Its operation is very simple and very quiet. It just gobbles up the paper, credit cards & staples, I feed it with with hardly a change in the noise emitted by its motor. It is very easy to empty, just a pull out draw and the job is done.
I needed a shredder which was reasonably priced but could also cope a high volume of shredding. By high volume, I mean 12 full black bin-liners of paper at the end of it. I can report that this unit handled the demand perfectly. It didn’t jam once, didn’t overheat and just kept going and going. To be honest, with so much shredding to do, the human is more likely to break and need a break than this machine !
Very pleased with the unit and would happily recommend to others needing something a bit beefy without breaking the bank. It’s also a lot quieter than other shredders I have used in the past too.
After reading many reviews and articles, I decided to go with the 18-sheet version of this paper shredder, mainly because I also wanted to shred cardboard as well. I’m glad I did. It’s a lot quieter than I thought it would be, which is excellent. It gets through standard single-walled corrugated cardboard very easily. I was able to shred up the large Amazon box and outer box that this shredder came shipped in with ease. It’s fairly easy to push around on the supplied castor wheels and they can be easily removed if you want to.
If I had one niggle about this shredder it would be that the waste bin could do with being a bit larger so that I don’t have to empty it as frequently, but that’s a very minor point.
Overall thoroughly recommended.
A very powerful shredder the only downside is the speed at which it devours paper….its not slow but it could be faster when shredding large volumes of paperwork.
Runs quietly when shredding paper. So far it has managed to nicely shred several sheets at a time (it does noticeably slow when there are more pages in one go but keeps shredding none the less).
The unit itself looks good and is easy to move on the built-in rollers.
Great item strong and fast. After my last 2 smaller shredders broke only after a few days or weeks I took the plunge to buy this more expensive Shredder and I am pleased I did its a lot more stronger and professionally built a great bit of kit that will save you a lot of money in the long term

I bought this as I now work from home 60% of the time and needed a good quality heavy duty shredder. This has been great so far. Very high capacity. No problems at all. Handles staples etc . Seems very robust.
Over the years we’ve accumulated a lot of paperwork and this thing goes through it really quickly. Might be considered excessive for domestic use but who really wants to be shredding 4-6 sheets at a time with a tiny thing.
This shredder easily handles multiple pages and card. I’m using it to shred cardboard delivery boxes for use as composting material. I’ve run it continuously for 30 mins at a time and no sign of overheating. It is definitely a lot quieter then others I’ve used. I have it three months and it gets moderate use. I’m happy it’s up to the job. I’ve had several home use shredders before and none have impressed or lasted any reasonable amount of time before jamming or breaking. I’ve had no jamming with this. It’s definitely a step up, good performance and great value.

My son put me onto this has he runs a busy office that produces shed loads of sensitive documents that need to be kept confidential. Being a person that keeps every bit of paper going back to the year dot! I needed to get rid of files that are more than 20 years old but still sensitive information that could identify me to a scammer. This piece of kit whizzes through shredding them, staples and all. Been using it regularly a couple of months and can honesty say I do know what I would do without it. Highly recommended for fast efficient destruction of sensitive documents that have been digitised for clutter free archiving.
Bought this shredder more for shredding cardboard that it more than capable of doing.
With its capability of shredding 18sheets of paper, it is really shown what this shredder can do. Not only that it is like it in theory but it is like that in real life. It shreds through anything from paper, cardboard, credit cards, CDs and who knows what.
Obviously with shredding heavy stuff often it will require some basic maintenance in order to prolong its life as well.
Automatic feature works very well and I am not sure what it takes for this thing to overheat as I used to shred cardboard for nearly 15 minutes straight and it was still cold. Upgraded cooling feature with fans in the back definitely works and helps keep this thing cool.
So if you are looking for beast in shredding world you will definitely not make a mistake with this one.
Purchased to shred cardboard for grandson to make fire blocks for wood stove. Changed the job from being a chore to great fun apparently! I am now the best Nanny in the world! Hope it lasts
had a few cheaper units before, this one is much much quieter than any of the others Ive had and shreds multiple pages with ease. Nice big bin as well. thoroughly recommend for a good powerful home shredder.
The first shredder I’ve had that appears to be able to shred multiple pages with ease. Not overly noisy for a shredder, it accommodates bank cards and CD’s as well. It’s well made and has, so far, been reliable. I purchased the Bonsai oiled sheets for maintenance and now its approx two years old, it still works as it did when new. Great piece of kit!
This is my second one, first died a month outide warranty. [Bonsaii very helpful – replacement blocked by Amazon] I use them hard so decided to go again. next review may not be so kind……

This machine is a hungry monster, it pretty much handles any thing I feed it, should I need to dispose of a body, I’m pretty sure that my new little friend could help me out. It’s reasonably quiet compared to my old machine. It does run on a few seconds after feeding, enough time to swallow and lick its lips, and the fan runs for a couple of seconds more, which is good, as my old machine would only do a handful of docs before it needed to be left to cool down, for fear of it becoming the ultimate in security by shredding and then incinerating your confidential waste. The good sized bin is a bit clunky pulling out, but easy enough to swap the bags out when removed. It feels pretty solid and well made, but time will tell if it lives to be an old friend
Keep having to buy more expensive shredders as they keep breaking down, so decided to bite the bullet & get a well relatively expensive one 150 quid not cheap.
Any way so far so good, arrived on time packaged well, the built in wheels means it moves ok & no having to put it together.
Finished my current shredding marathon (interrupted by previous machine breakdown).
Coped with staples and bundles of papers ok, like the fan which should reduce overheating (a previous & frustrating problem).
So now all about longevity.
Did order some oil to go with it, as suspect that may have not helped previous machines longevity.
The built in bin is a real plus as previous ones you had to lift the shredder unit off.
Switching between Auto – Blank – Reverse is a bit stiff
Quietest shredder I’ve had. Eats up paper and cardboard with ease.
Haven’t had to put it in reverse once yet.
Good size bin which is very easy to remove.
Only negative point is due to the cooling fan it does kick up some paper dust.

I needed a ‘more than just a few pages’ shredder to quickly clear a backlog of papers at home. The C149-C eats multi-sheets and old credit cards fast – JUST THE THING if you have a clear out. So 5***** Great value (Yes of course it makes a bit of noise whilst it is actually shredding, but less than I would have readily expect & accepted)
AND ANOTHER THING: My first shredder failed recently and the brand name bonsaii and the stickers with the contact service numbers all failed to work (number no longer in use) GREAT NEWS THOUGH – JUSTAR (the supplier – when Amazon helped me find them) were BRILLIANT. They replied next day to my email and after a few reasonable checks that they coached me through by email, and my confirmatory replies, A replacement was on its way. So EXEMPLORY ‘SEVEN’ Star after sales and customer service. It’s a tough machine, but when there was a problem – they solved it.
Only had it for a day so possibly too early for a review but so far I’m really pleased with it. I’ve had a number of 50 shredders previously and most have lasted a few years before giving up but this one is in a different league. I bought it because I had an enormous pile of paperwork to dispose of as my last shredder bit the dust about 3 years ago so decided to get something a bit more industrial. The difference between this and my previous shredders is chalk and cheese, the Bonsaii just keeps running and running and over the course of 4 hours I’d converted a massive pile to shreds, filling the bin 6 times when squished down. I did oil the cutters each time I emptied the bin, this is an often overlooked but essential maintenance requirement.
It can eat 18 sheets of 80gsm paper in one go but you can hear it starting to labour so I was feeding about 10 at a time which hardly causes the motor to slow at all. I had a few gaps whilst I filed the stuff that needed to be retained but I ended up with about 4 hours of almost continuous use without it overheating, my previous shredders would shut down after not much more than 15 minutes of 5 sheets at a time followed by at least a 30 minute wait. It has a fan built in which probably helps. Noise levels are low, you can easily hold a normal conversation whilst it’s running.
Now the mother load has been cleared it’s life will become much easier so hopefully it will be in service for some years to come.

Tried the market leader 4 times but still broke or overheated so thought I’d spend a bit more and went for several over 300 but this does all the market leader does and can run for almost an hour and it’s half the price of the market leader.

A little noisier than expected but not a problem
The Bonsai HD Shredder is easy to set up and simply no trouble to use. No over heating cutouts and does everything it claims. My one constructive comment would be that it would be improved by a larger bin.
All the positives about this shredder that are stated or advertised we found to be 100% accurate. Very easy to use, the casters on the bottom ensure you can move around easily, and it can shred about 18 sheets of A$ at a time.
I have owned a few shredders in my time and the Bonsaii is easily the best.
This is one beast of a shredder and at a reduced price too. It eats cardboard and 18 sheets of paper with no problem without jamming it runs smooth on the wheels and the waste bin is a good size.I bought this as I had hundreds of old photos collecting dust so I have digitised them and shredded the old photos and this beast was flawless.
Have now had this shredder for over a year. Regularly shred large quantities of paper and cardboard boxes for recycling. This has never failed and because of the fan is able to run for long periods without overheating. Definitely recommended.
Love this machine, we do a lot of online shopping that comes wrapped in paper as packaging. I make paper fire bricks so this is perfect for shredding the paper before soaking. Does a brilliant job on cardboard boxes too. The white bag is the cardboard.
Got this one after my nephew killed my cheap 7 sheet job by trying to shred about 12 sheets. I wasn’t able to save it. Kind of glad it went though – it would overheat and auto stop more frequently than I liked.
This new one shreds everything I throw at it. And I’ve had a decent shredding session and it hasn’t stopped or complained. You get what you pay for. And so I reckon this is good value for its abilities.
I had a lot of shredding to do, and the previous shredder had given up the ghost. This shredder has a nice big capacity and can shred up to 18 sheets of paper at a time. It goes virtually non-stop for an hour before you have to let it cool down. The wheels make moving it around really easy. Great value for money if you have lots to shred.

I have used the shredder to get rid of loads of old confidential papers and it gets through these very efficiently. It is fairly quiet, too, and quick and easy to use.
The shreds are very small and secure, too. Good idea to buy some shredder oil, too, to keep the shredder at maximum efficiency.
This shredder is amazing, I have been able to shred at least 7 dustbin bags of paper in a short period of time. Unlike most shredders this has a continuous shred for about an hour with a very quick cool down period. Definitely worth the money if you have LOADS to shred.
By comparison, this Bonsai unit chewed it’s way through a 2ft tall 2ft square wicker basket full of confidential waste in one afternoon without missing a beat. The only thing that held it back was how fast I could feed it, so clearly the cooling fan in this design makes a real difference.
Highly recommend and well worth the outlay.

I love that it’s on wheels and moves around easily even on carpet.
I love that the paper drawer pulls out, no more lugging off the top section and it has a bag to catch all the bits which makes it even easier to empty. There are still bits that end up on the floor but I can cope with that.
It can take 7 sheets at a time, but I don’t push it, it might be a large shredder but it’s still a ‘home’ one, not built for industrial use, and I want it to last. I bought the oil to lubricate with, made the mistake of not doing that in the past, it really helps prolong the life and keep things from grinding to a halt (literally).
Finally, it’s the quietist shredder I’ve ever had!
Time will tell how robust it is and how it wears but as I’ve said, it’s a two way street.
We bought this shredder for our admin office after first getting another well know brand which was absolute rubbish and was sent back. The Bonsaii is brilliant. Used now for a few weeks and never once jammed up or had to use reverse for any reason. All I would say is that the recommendation of maximum sheets at once is far too many. I have only gone to about 6 or 8 at a time. But I have absolutely no negative points about this shredder. It really is excellent.
Great machine for shredding all those papers that we seem to receive these days, especially when the senders take gtreat delight in personalising them on every page. Takes lots of sheets at a time, large bin which holds a lot. Gtreat buy.
Just brilliant I had a lot of old paperwork to shred after my dad passed away & this truly helped with a mamouth task.
Lightweight and easy to move around. Motor doesn’t overheat after a few minutes and very powerful action. Great replacement for the heavy duty Fellows one we had. Worth the money

An excellent shredder which unfortunately decided to stop working after six months of very light use. So why give it five stars, I hear you ask? Well, we contacted the manufacturer, Bonsaii immediately and their customer services team were on the case at once. We described what the shredder was doing i.e. fan running continuously in ‘shred’ mode but not reacting to paper being introduced for shredding. They asked us to send them a short video to show what was happening. All this only took a couple of days. They then said that they were replacing the shredder with a new one and we didn’t need to return the old one. The new one arrived about two days later and is happily working well. That to me warrants the five stars I’ve given.
We had a clear-out of all our paperwork spanning back decades and ended up with reams and reams of paper and old credit cards that needed shredding. I was using an old shredder we got from a high street store, but every 10 minutes it would stop and get really hot.
So…I invested in something I hope would do the job…
I bought the 60 minute/18 sheets at once shredder.
It did the job so well I actually felt disappointed when I ran out of paper to shred!!!!
In the end I shredded 3 bin sacks full of paper. I took a photo of the last one and have attached it here.

In fact, it never stopped or jammed once.
It’s really quick, has in built cooling fans and a nice big compartment for the shreddings. It cuts really well and I have nothing negative to say at all. It’s really not that noisy either.
If you want a beast of a shredder, that does what it says on the tin, this is the shredder for you. 🙂

Now I can shred 10 – 12 sheets of paper at a time easily, although lots of paper shredding makes it stop to cool down after about 15 minutes.
However, the added bonus is that I can now shred cardboard as well. Who would have thought this could be so useful? I needed mulch for my allotment, and I now can shred all the brown cardboard that arrives in my house so that it is immediately ready to put round my plants.
I couldnt do THAT with my little flimsy shredder!
You really have to spend this amount to get a good, sturdy, RELIABLE shredder. Now that I work from home, I go thru a mountain of paper/month and the shredder is on for a good 10-15 mins say once a month to avoid a huge build-up of sensitive documents and other paper items to be shredded.
Great shredder, not too noisy. Does bank/credit cards with ease.
Only downside is that the shedding drawer is hard to open.

It is very easy to work and shreds 8-10 sheets easily. More sheets than that it is prone to jam. TO clear the jam involves tugging, reversing until it lets go off the paper. Highly recommend for up to 8 sheets.

Great machine. Munches through a lot of paper and cardboard with no trouble at all. Saves hours when I compare against my cheaper machine that use to run out of puff very quickly and was always jamming. Shocked just how much paperwork we needed to shred. Good job done now and will keep on top of it in future.
Bought this to replace old 5 sheet shredder. The difference is chalk and cheese. I had been going through old paperwork and with the mountain I had for shredding this paper shredder made short work of it in double quick time. It was no effort and very quiet. I also bought the oil for the cutters. I would highly recommend this product.
Despite being inside two boxes, this shredder was broken when it arrived. The back of the case had been smashed. However, we did test it before returning it because I intended to buy another one but this time in person when the lockdown is lifted.
This may be a fairly expensive shredder but it is absolutely superb in what it does. It will chew through anything you can throw at it. And it doesn’t slow down or overheat. It will easily keep shredding for the full hour that it states in the description. So in terms of performance, I cannot fault it. Just a shame it arrived damaged. But, it is definitely on my list to buy when the stores open again.
I have had one of these shredders for just under a year, during which it performed without any problems and cleared my home office of years of stuff. At eleven months it stopped working completely, not broken just deceased, which was dealt with by Justar Office under warranty with the minimum of fuss and a replacement machine despatched without delay. It would appear from Justar investigation that the main PCB had developed a fault and I would rate this as just bad luck, and in consequence I wanted and got the same machine back again.

I work from home and shred a lot of paper each week, this shredder is excellent, it will shred with the staples still in, which is a big plus as most of my paperwork is stapled together, it takes card and also plastic. I like the big collection bin, the only gripe I have with it is that when you empty the bin some of the shredding falls down behind the bin and then onto the floor. My last shredder had a top that removed so this didn’t happen. But I am still more than happy with it.
So I was sceptical about spending significantly more than i would have paid for an entry level shredder… but my gosh this is worth it! Excellent build, relatively quiet, and got through all my papers very quickly. I have no idea why I didn’t get one of these sooner.
Very good. We’re using for cardboard for our compost and it’s tough and sturdy!
This is a great piece of equipment. Unfortunately it jammed after eleven months. I contacted bonsaii customer service and was very pleasantly surprised. A few emails, pictures and suggestions later they decided the pcb had failed, and arranged to send a new replacement which arrived three days later. You don’t often get such service these days! Well done bonsaii!!
The 18 sheet shredder was like brand new, so great value. I have modified the top cover to accomodate for plastic shredding which is my primary reason for purchase. This machine is very powerful, yet very simple, and probably reliable. It will do 18 sheets all day long I would imagine. I am an engineer and can say that the blades are very robust, there is plastic inserts between blades but is made from quality nylon so will not break even with the abuse I am putting it through. I am more happy with the purchase then I thought initially. And its very quiet make no mistake.
