Replaced a long serving home shredder – wanted a slightly improved shred and similar size. After too many hours of comparing – went for this brand that I had not heard of previously. Fast delivery as always from Amazon. Very easy set-up and shredding is fast and efficient but best of all much quieter than my previous machine. It does not get heavy use but has coped with everything thrown at it so far. I have not tried credit cards yet.

I love this shredder and it is the second one I have bought. The first one lasted six years but for all that time was in constant use every day practically shredding numerous papers. I liked it so much I bought exactly the same model.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI have been trying to move to paperless and not doing very well due to mountains of paperwork generated by my small business over the years; the cheapo shredder we owned only worked for a few minutes and would jam and overheat so I spent its cool down periods googling replacements and found the Bonsaii C149-D and related reviews on YouTube…. I hesitated due to cost but due to the problems I was having with the cheap shredder I pulled the trigger and ordered the C149-D. It is just AWESOME… runs continuously and I’m working though the pile of paperwork and my office is getting clearer. Not too noisy and a joy to use! Fantastic bit of equipment; ditch your cheapo shredder now. DIN P-4 (Microcut) is an added bonus and much better than cheapo cross-cut.

Really pleased with this shredder. I had 5 years worth of documents to shred and my previous shredder was really slow and would only last about 15 mins before overheating/switching off. The Bonsaii is awesome. It quickly and easily tore through anything I fed into it. With its 18 sheet feeder and no need to take staples out, it made short work of the documents. The casters make it easy to move about and the simple pull out makes it very easy to empty.
    Excellent. Would recommend.

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersIf you’ve used a cheaper shredder for more than one or two sheets you’ll be used to slow shredding and short run times before it overheats and then needing to wait ages for the machine to cool down.

There’s none of that with this device – it ploughs through piles of paper without a blink. For its first job I filled two bags (about 50 litres of shredded paper) without the machine needing to take a break (I couldn’t carry the paper to it fast enough to get it to overheat) and without a blockage or glitch. Paper is reduced to tiny shreds and it easily copes with the advertised 14 pages at a time (I suspect it could manage a few more, but there’s no need to stress it).

My only problem was that the first machine arrived with a problem that prevented it powering up. I contacted Amazon who weren’t much help (they tried to put me in touch with the US-based manufacturer when I really needed to speak to the retailer). However, once I spoke to the seller (Justar Office) they recognised the problem at once, offered a really fast and no-quibble replacement, and the second device worked fine. I have to praise their excellent customer service and it was only a minor inconvenience overall.

The only other downside is that the package only includes one liner for the bin (and no oil), but these can be easily had.

Anyway, besides this minor glitch, this is an excellent machine and definitely worth the bit more than the cheaper shredders you can buy.

I bought this shredder for a particular job. 15 bin bags worth of shredding and this device is still going strong. Great shredder. Very pleased.

Arrived speedily, very well packaged and fully assembled (always a relief). Compact. Manoeuvrability impeded because I have it on a carpet. Biggest disappointment is that it is bit on the slow side but shreds well and effectively

This shredder is to replace our old noisy one and so far it is working smoothly & quietly.
I haven’t used it for prolonged periods of time so can’t say if there are any problems but so far very pleased. Wheels on bottom make it easier to move than my old one so that’s another good thing

I did have an issue with this machine but the manufacturer was brilliant they diagnosed the issue and provide another machine no quibble…

You can therefore buy with confidence as the customer service combination of Amazon and Bonsonii is perfect .

I have bought various paper shredders over the years, some from well known brands, both expensive and cheap. All overheated and cut out after shredding 20 pages, or so, or the teeth breaking. None seemed up to the job they were claimed to do. I decided to spend outside my budget and buy a brand from an unknown name. I took into account not only the positive reviews on Amazon but also the negative reviews.
I had amassed about 18 months of documents needing shredding. This being 2 drawers packed full on a standard filing cabinet.
The shredder arrived a day earlier than the estimated date, well packed and very heavy compared to my previous shredder. The packaging was double boxed heavy duty cardboard. This alone weighed a considerable amount. I was impressed at the external build quality, some of the negative reviews mentioned about it being cheap looking quality or flimsy.. This model compares well to any of the well known brands I have purchased in the past.
I bought a 400ml bottle of their own branded shredder oil and lubricated the cutting head before the first cut. I also used the one supplied waste bag for confetti collection. This is did find awkward to fit putting the front of the bag behind the two location lugs.
Down to the shredding, over the course of two hours I shredded the contents of one drawer of the filing cabinet. I kept below the stated 18 sheet maximum capacity. The machine never jammed once, didn’t overheat and the motor did not slow down during operation. The cooling fan did kick in a couple of times. Even so after 30 minutes of cutting I gave it a few minutes rest. After an hour I lubricated the cutting heads again. The bottle of oil should last a long time. The following day I proceeded to shred the second drawer of the filing cabinet and yet again it was effortless and trouble free. Over the two days I ended up with 8 bin liners full of shredding’s.
I can’t recommend this shredder enough. I realise that this is an early review after only two days but now that I have the bulk of my shredding done I only expect to have to do a regular light shredding load. If anything changes I will add to this review.

Delivered promptly. Cuts a good number of sheets at the one time and keeps going for a lengthy period of multiple shredding needs. Not the cheapest on the market but the fact that it does what advertising states is great.

Needed something more robust (I’ve been through two or three smaller ones that did not last more than a year) to shred large quantities of old papers that had accumulated prior to online paperless. It is quieter than smaller ones; the wheels make it far easier to move from place to place; it’s small enough to fit under the pedestal part of the desk. I oiled it with the recommended oil which I bought at the same time as the shredder and, as per instructions after six empties of the bin, it simply purred after this! I’d not been aware that shredders needed to be oiled; certainly the manufacturers of smaller ones never mention or recommend it in their instructions. So far, so good.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersI’m very pleased with this paper shredder. It is a great fit for a small business or home office where you need to securely dispose of client, financial, or other confidential documents. I received it today and have shredded a couple of hundred pages. It churned through them readily and had no problem handling 14 sheets (with staples) at once.

My old shredder handled only a few pages at once and was constantly jamming. This one is a joy in comparison.

    Pros:
    – Easily handles the specified 14 sheets (of my printer paper)
    – Shreds securely into 4mm x 10mm bits
    – Worked fairly continuously 200+ sheets without overheating, jamming, or stalling
    – Moderate noise level
    – Pull-out bin has hooks for plastic bag and easy removal
    – Fits comfortably under a desk and is easy to roll out on its casters

    Cons:
    – None
    – Removing the bin is a bit stiff
    – The ‘off/standby’ position is weirdly labeled ‘blank’

High performance home shredder. We routinely use the manual reverse during shredding to prevent any build up of shredded paper in the mechanism. Despite no jamming event, I noticed one of the plastic separators on the underside of the shredder had sheared and hung down. This didn’t prevent the shredder functioning, just an intermittent squeak. An email to bonsaii customer care with invoice and photo elicited a response within 24 hours and a replacement shredder within 48 hours. I am confident this was an exceptional fault as the shredder is robustly made and handles much more than our previous shredder. I haven’t tried 18 sheets or a full 60 minutes work as it hasn’t been required to deal with the paperwork we wish to dispose of. I would definitely recommend this shredder.

Golden Review Award: 16 From Our UsersThis thing is a beast. I bought it to shred cardboard for composting and had hoped it would handle corrugated cardboard. It does this no problem. I just finished shredding some boxes which were double wall corrugated and really heavy duty. I had to stand on the cardboard to squash it flatter so it would fit in the slot but once the chompers got a grip on it it just dragged it through no problem. I’m super impressed by what it can handle. I’m sure it wasn’t designed to take just large jobs but it didn’t struggle at all.

It’s super quiet too. I live in a block of flats with a family underneath me and I generally try to be courteous when it comes to noise but I’m happily use this machine in the middle of the night it’s so quiet.

It does have a couple of bad points but this may be specific to me more than the general public. The slot has a flat top and I have to fiddle about to get the cardboard in. It would be better if it hard a large mouth that tapered in just to make it easier to feed.

The other issue is the collection bin is small and there isn’t really any way to fix this. My last shredder could be lifted off its collection bin and placed on a large 90 litre rubbish bin so you’d have to empty it far less often. This one fills up very fast. It’s quite low down too so not great on the back. A bigger taller collection bin making the shredder higher up would solve this. But it’s not a deal breaker

I read a few reviews before buying and they mentions the wheels aren’t great and it’s difficult to move around. Well, either they fixed that problem or those buyers didn’t release the brakes because my wheels spin very freely and is very maneuverable

It’s super quiet, can handle really thick cardboard, doesn’t seem to ever overheat and looking down in to those chompers it looks like it will last a lifetime. Definitely buy this product.

Also, buy some oil too because it isn’t supplied with any oil and you do need to oil it every half hour of use

Super quiet and super tough, cracking bit of ki

Like many other people who have written a review about a shredder we are now on our 4th one, for all the others we have gradually gone up in price hoping for a better unit, this is the most I’ve ever spent and got it on Prime day, which helped a lot.
So its still new, but the first batch of shredding that had been building up was done without any trouble at all. Ran it for 20mins, its is certainly the most quite one we have had. For multiple sheets up to the max is does groan a bit but still Better than the others. We are just home use but we still generate a lot of stuff for shredding. Will look to oiling it regularly too as now it seems we have a proper shredder that can cope.

Heavy duty, does exactly what was promised. To try it out I shredded a 3 inch thick pile of various grades of paper and thinner card. It was all gone in no time. I tend to put in about a dozen sheets at a time. It does work with 18 clean sheets of 80gsm but at 18 sheets it goes a little slower and you don’t gain much, and some of my waste is thicker. It is fairly quiet for a shredder – much quieter than my old 1 or 2 pages at a time shredder.

Golden Review Award: 32 From Our UsersI’ve had a Bonsaii 18 sheet shredder before which lasted at least five years until it gave up the ghost. This one when it worked was just as good but as its only lasted two months I’ve either been unlucky or, they’ve changed how these are made? The problem I now have is the price has gone up by 50.00 and I cant get a replacement from the seller.
Maybe it was cheaper because they knew something I didn’t but all in all I have a shredder that no longer works.
Two months isn’t very long for something to stop working so if you’re looking at getting one maybe you should check out all the reviews.

    Update – 22-09-2020

After posting this review I was surprised to receive an email from Sharon at Justar Office, the seller, apologising for the inconvenience to me in receiving a shredder that went faulty after a couple of months. They think the motherboard controller has failed and I was then immediately offered a replacement machine without any prompting from me. The exact shredder I had bought previously from them wasn’t in stock and they were waiting for them coming in but for whatever reason they couldn’t get hold of one for a few weeks. Rather than make me wait and wait I was offered a different model that will do the job I require just as well. The communication from Sharon at Justar Office was exceptional throughout and no sooner had I accepted her offer of a different replacement model it must have been immediately dispatched because it arrived the very next day. As I said in my review I have used a Bonsaii Shredder before and know them to be good. The big selling point for me is they have a fan cooling system inside which means you can shred away for 60 minutes or more.
To my mind the test of a great company isn’t when things are going well its how they deal with you when things go wrong. In that regard I would consider Justar Office’s after sales service to be world class and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this company to anyone.

Love the idea of the system that cools the cutters, which means it will run continuously for much longer without cutting out to cool down. It far surpasses other shredders we have used in the past. Hope this great performance continues with use over time. To give it the best chance we use the recommended lubricating oil and follow the instructions on frequency of application to the cutters.

My wife has broken every shredder we have had by trying to use for hours on end, putting things not designed for them through it and then trying to fix them, Bless Her I Love her so much! Well this one has got her beat, she can sit on the floor and shred to her hearts content and it just deals with it, I’ve now put her on a 45 minute timer, which she likes because it feels like I’m making a contribution now! Don’t buy cheap one’s you’ll just end up replacing it after 6 months, save up like we did to get one of these.

Unwrap it carefully. Buy the oil but not the bags.
I am trying to be as green as possible and in early retirement I have been shredding a lot of old work related documents as well as my daily i newspaper and as much of our lockdown delivery cardboard as fits through the shredder.
First impressions: It arrived as predicted within 48 hours and was well packed and Undamaged.
As described by others the Castors look fragile and are not free running even after lubrication.

It was bought to replace well used (10yrs+ ) but jammed and burned out high end domestic Fellowes machine with a easy to empty basket. ( see comparison in photo ).

I am using the plastic bag that came around it in the box, it was also supplied with a single bag inside as well. Buying commercial see through polythene shredder bags will be convenient but they cost 16p each and won’t biodegrade.

I oiled the cutter blades before use.

Performance after filling one bag to brim:
Noise – much, much less noisy than my old machine and more pleasant pitch – you could work in the same room.
Capacity- 20 mins continuous use including up to 16 sheets of professional magazine shiny paper, several i newspapers torn in half lengthways, amazon cardboard book delivery cartons folded double thickness to full width (22cm)
I didn’t try it on copier paper.
The cooling fan comes on while in use but at no time did it run over after finishing shredding an item.
As reported by others, for security purposes, the chads are wider than other machines but for composting this does not matter. I suspect this also the reason for its quietness and speed.
It cross cut the newspaper much more effectively and therefore the shreddings sat down in the bin more easily. As a result I got a lot more in the bag than my old machine.
I try not to compact the shreddings as that defeats the speed of compost making.
Speed: for home use it was comparable to the old Fellowes and for a once a day session I am content
but you cannot fill an auto feed and walk away.
There was a slight delay on both starting and starting to reverse – this might be a good thing. It stopped 2 seconds after the cutters cleared. It stopped automatically on the first fill but I am not sure if that is a feature.

Ergonomics: it’s lower than the old machine but the slot is same distance from the front. This made it more of a strain to feed it while standing but it’s shape and size and the (careful use of ) the castors mean it would be ideal for sitting under a desk.
The bag sits over the rim at the back and sides and I did not have a significant spillage, the clips at the front are a bit fiddly but once you master the technique it clips in and prevents leaks at the front.
I would not want to tip the shreddings straight from the bin into a plastic bin bag as the plastic felt quite fragile and the rectangular shape would not fit easily into the bag for a second fill and protruding plastic lugs would tear the bag. But transferring shreddings form the transparent bag to another bag was pure dead simple.

    Reliability: no comment

Excellent first impressions. If it lasts then it should be more than adequate to supply my Allottment with brown material to go with the kitchen waste and grass clippings

After one use only. It’s very quiet and good at shredding compost material (UK definition).

Have bought this to replace our old shreder at work, and I must say, it does the job so far. It’s smaller in size than the previous brand, but still manages to hold quite a lot of paper, it’s easy to use, easy to set up, turn on/off and “eats” the paper sheets faster than his predecesor.
We only gave it 4* because it’s very noisy and it feels like it’s right next to you when someone at the other end of the room uses it, and can’t use it if one of us is on the phone, but that’s not a big issue for us.

We wait to see if this one lasts any reasonable length of time, but the fact that it allows up to 18 sheets at a time, suggests that by feeding only 5 or 6 at a time, should not unduly wear it out. The next price bracket is significantly higher and quite big too, so I want to continue to purchases in this part of the market.

I have only used this for one day particularly wanting it to shred cardboard for the compost as well as personal papers. It is a bit of a squeeze for corrugated cardboard and the slot is rather sheer and very marginally more than A4 in width so items need to be deliberately and rather precisely inserted.. but well pleased so far.

Fantastic. Simply eats paper. Great. No getting stuck or overheating as it has in built cooling. Takes up to 18 sheets paper. Easy to empty and very easy to fill! I’ve previously bought “cheap” shredders at 40. Wishing I’d invested my money in a decent shredder like this that does a professional job and not wasted my money on cheap units. This is a bit pricey but well worth the money.

Well packaged, zipped through a huge box of paperwork in under an hour without so much as a murmur. Very easy to manoeuvre due to the casters it is on. Easy to see when it’s full through the viewing window. Only day 1 but very impressed

Only used the shredder a couple of times so far, but very impressed. Both occasions ran it for almost an hour with no hint of heating up, no oily smell of the engine heating, and not a single jam, so all good! Perhaps the bin could be a tad deeper to save emptying it as often, and it could have come supplied with a few liner polythene bags, but those are more observations than criticism. 10/10 !

Golden Review Award: 27 From Our UsersI’ve bought shredders previously, but none compare to this. I have full confidence that it will last and last. It’s quiet running whilst in use and stores anyway under my desk easily when not required. The castors are really good and it pulls out so easily. For a small business this is a great intermediary between a domestic and an industrial machine. I have just shredded all of my end of month material and apart from needing to empty the contents it just handled the job with ease.

    Sounds and feels good quality

Amazing shredder! Have had it for 2 years and it has never failed, never stuck. Forget paper, shreds cardboard, CDs, 15+ sheets of paper easily.
Touch wood, haven’t had to do any maintenance so far. Hope I don’t break the good luck!
    I recommend it highly.

    Amazing Shredder! 5 star!

I bought this after doing some research on-line. My previous shredder only ran for 3 mins before stopping. This one came out on top for value and performance. It states it has an hour run rate and can take 18 sheets in one go. Well it does and it can although I didn’t pass 18 sheets every time. It’s a real work horse. It’s very quiet too. It feels a bit flimsy, don’t let that put you off, and I’d prefer slightly small shreds but it is still secure enough. Love that is uses shredder bags. I didn’t buy bags initially so just used a bin liner. Shredder bags are better as you can see how full the bin is. I did bags of shredding in one go and it didn’t stop other when the bag was full. So easy to empty too.

Golden Review Award: 27 From Our UsersFinally got around to buying this, been using for about 2 months to shred junk mail and important confidential documents. Thought I was going abit over the top buying this but glad I did, shreds perfectly and with the bin securely stored makes it easy to dispose of the shredded paper once full. Able to store a whole lot of shredded paper without having to press down or empty continuously.

I have had it eight days and so far shredded just under 500 litres (21x 23litres baskets) of paper! I chose to always be under the rated 18 sheets almost all of the time, and it shows NO SIGN OF STRAIN. I have a lot more to shred, but am feeling very confident!

I like the descriptions, graphics, etc. and they read true. It is NOT CHEAP, but I didn’t want cheap, I wanted efficient – economical – despite what I am about to put it through, lasting!! On top of this, it IS quiet!

Happy purchasing and use, from a very satisfied customer!

The shredder is efficient, very easy to use and great value for money. It has a good capacity, but isn’t too large, making it perfect for a small office as it can easily slot into a corner without taking up too much room.

The 60 minutes run time is also handy when you need to shred a number of documents as you don’t need to stop every 5 minutes for it to cool down.

Shredding is quick and not too noisy, plus is quite good at cross-cutting thicker documents and credit cards.

Customer service was also incredibly helpful. Would highly recommend, especially for a small office.

This was more expensive than our last shredder but so far we are more than pleased. It does not keep stopping and jamming as previous shredders and is quieter too. Paper in the waste bin lies evenly so does not need emptying or squashing down as often. The ckear window is ideal for seeing when it does need emptying. Great product.

Golden Review Award: 20 From Our UsersOutstanding shredder. A lot quieter than the cheap one it replaced. Goes on and on without overheating and turning off. The machine was smaller than I expected but in terms of shredding paper it is much quieter than my old one and because it takes more sheets at a time I can get through my annual shredding session a lot faster. But where it comes in to its own is the castors the mobility of wheeling it to where I want it saves my back from a considerable amount of stress from lifting it into position as per the old one.

It never jammed even when I put in more sheets at one time than I would ever have dared trying to feed into my old shredder.
The feed slot is a little narrow along its length, it doesn’t start wide and narrow down, so can be fiddly to feed even slightly crumpled paper.
The hopper is a good size and has a window to check how full it is.
It comes with a plastic bag for the hopper which makes emptying it much easier.
All and all I am very happy so fa

This is in a different league to the other shredder’s I have bought. Its quiet and it shreds for ages – in fact after 40 minutes it was still going strong. Sheds a shed load of paper. So the down side is that the first one they sent didn’t work- apparently there was a problem with the circuit board. They replaced it within a day. So customer service is good. In view of the customer service and the excellence of the product I would highly rate this product in spite of the blip

Good shredder useable for good long periods of 20- 25 mins. Needs care with more than 6 sheets together as it tendes to spread them out sideways a little and the cross cutting becomes a little less at the edges so not for the higher security uses unless fewer sheets a re fed at a time.
Quiet in comparison to other brands we have had.

Nicely securely packaged. A quite heavy machine, but you can feel the quality built. It does its job as described, even used to shred some cardboards with no problem although it slows down the speed which is normal. So far after a few weeks of use, I’m happy with it.

This represents excellent value for money for a cross cut shredder.

I looked at a range of other products before deciding on this due to the fact it is a cross cut shredder and others that cross cut were a lot more expensive.

I wish it was a bit bigger but that is no major problem.

Its on wheels so easy to move around.

I would recommend this product if you are doing low volume shredding but may be a bit smaller for a busy office.

Golden Review Award: 72 From Our UsersBrilliant absolutely brilliant made easy work of a mountain of confidential and private paperwork that would have taken weeks of slog with our old one. I bought oil as well as I didn’t realise the need to oil a shredder. Easy to oil I found a video online just add some oil to one piece of paper in a zig zag and feed through. Using reverse and forward switch.
It does take up to 18 sheets but mostly we have put a dozen or so at the same time.
    No need to remove staples.
Laminates need to be sandwiched in between two sheets of paper.
We also tried it on credit card great job on that too.
Bin nice and large I’d advise emptying before it gets absolutely full to avoid mess spilling out on the floor.
It comes with 1 plastic bag insert we did use that, it clips on two lugs, this does make emptying easy, but we haven’t bought more of these yet as the one has lasted.
All in all a brilliant buy and I would recommend to others who have large amounts of shredding .

Golden Review Award: 17 From Our UsersVery good product, easy to use but could do with a deeper basket say 3ft deep like an average kitchen swing bin then emptying would just require top off, recycling bag pulled over top and upended…easeee not scrabbling about on floor (motor unit is heavy for obvious reasons) to empty it.

As quoted else where…. the strips when shredded could do with being halved again because sometimes you can still read account numbers from shredded letters or statements and names.

You can get over this by pre-tearing A4 letters and envelopes down the middle and feeding them at 45 degrees to the shredder.
And lastly because it says it will shred 18 sheets at a time it doesn’t mean you should. 12 sheets is quite fast enough and will give longer life to the machine and a longer running time between rests. Apart from these nit picks it is a very capable machine

I have only had the shredder a few days, but already I have probably shredded more paper with this one than I have with all my previous shredders put together. Previously, cheaper shredders soon overheat or jam. This shredder works like a charm. Also, being on castors was a great help so that I can wheel it out from under the desk. I have been using shredder oil, sprinkled on one of the pieces of paper I was going to shred. It is a lot quieter than my previous shredders. Wish I’d bought this shredder first!

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersBought to replace an aged Rexel shredder that finally gave up the ghost, this is an excellent and compact piece of kit.
When it came out of the box it looked rather small and I was concerned that it’s capacity might be a little too small.
Not a bit of it. It micro-shreds into much smaller pieces than my old Rexel cross-cut shredder and so it actually has a larger capacity in real use than the Rexel. Smaller pieces, so much more compact and incidentally, more secure,, whereas the Rexel filled the bucket with air and larger pieces.
It’s not very quiet, but much less noisy than the Rexel was.
It genuinely will shred 6 sheets at a time, but like all domestic shredders it’s not for constant use.
If you run it too long, there is a thermal cut out which stops the cutting until the motor cools down.
Realistically, unless you are shredding an entire office full of stuff, it’s more than adequate.
It would probably cut through a staple if you accidentally left one on the paper, but it’s not designed for it, so you should be careful.
It won’t cut credit cards or CDs either and it won’t shred Mail-Lite bags (I ripped some open and pulled off the plastic bubbles before shredding the labels. That works).

I’m very happy with it and having just checked online, it’s a Which Best Buy too.

So if you want an inexpensive, compact and effective shredder, for domestic use, I would recommend this one.

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersThis does cut well, this does do many sheets, you can do it for a long time without it overheating.
But… sometimes you switch it on and put the paper in and it does nothing. No shredder start up.
You check all the switches, switch it off an on again, check everything but it will not shred.
You have heard that thin paper may tell the sensor that paper is not there but that is not the case as this is many pages.
You spin it round, switch it off and on again. Put the paper in, take it out. Do this a few times more.
Boom! Suddenly it starts shredding for you again.
This is what I experience from my use of it.
Make of it what you will.
I like it when it shreds but it is picky about when it wants to do it.

Golden Review Award: 18 From Our UsersThis shredder is worth every penny to us. The previous shredder, which it replaced, was made by those who claim to “Make the world’s best shredders”. Pah !
    .
Their shredder was of comparable price, but has been nothing but TROUBLE.
    (1) It claimed to shred 14 sheets, but it baulked if even a crumbled sheet was inserted.
    (2) And the shredder stalled if the paper was slightly damp, due to a proximity sensor (pointless).
    (3) It shut down, due to temperature, if long-term shredding was undertaken.

This machine is making light work of it all. I use for about 40-50 mins at a time, let the machine rest for 30 mins then use again. The mountain of paperwork is slowly going down. Recommend is 18 sheets at a time I do about 10 as don’t want to overload and cause stress on the motor.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersThis is not a difficult review to write or a four star rating to be give BUT context has to be provided….

This shredder was bought as a gift for a family at home who would only have occasional need for shredding a few papers at a time.

^^^^ The above is kinda important and hence the four star rating for this capable, and yet not robust, shredder.

In operation this shredder is about as noisy as others we have used. What is apparent is that it is not design with high or continued use with close to its rated maximum capacity of paper. However its price did reflect that when we bought this and it matched the intended use that it was put to.

The cross cut pieces are well defined and not strung together, in other words it cuts consistently and their pieces are small enough in the bin as advertised.

We did recommend to our daughter that it is occasionally cleaned, after unplugging the unit they flip the top over to clean out the mechanism from clogging up random pieces of paper.

Now and again they have also used “Swordfish shredder oil” to run through a piece of paper smeared with that lubricant. I reckon that the lube is important as paper tends to have a “powder” or something applied to keep the sheets from sticking to each other. This causes the mechanism in the shredder to become quite dry, it used to be an issue also with printers and the rubber drive rollers would become coated and not be able to grip the paper to pull it through.

With the above intended use in mind and the capability of this type of shredder and its price I do recommend it.

However if you expect or need more industrious and durable shredder then I would consider looking elsewhere as you might well be disappointed with this particular model.

It pays to research and do some reading before buying a shredder, more so if you are wanting to use them regularly, also take the quoted maximum paper handling of most paper shredders with a pinch of salt and you’ll be fine.

    Hope this review helps.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI’m very impressed by this little shredder. It really can run comfortably for an hour without any problems. It’s also a lot quieter than my old shredder-cats slept happily through my shredding, whereas before they would avoid the house and my children would complain while I was using the old shredder. I had worried that it would be too big and an eyesore, but it is very small and neat. I would definitely recommend it for people like me who had amassed bin liners full of papers to shred ,through the frustration of my previous shredder which used to stick after 10 minutes. It was wonderful to finally safely dispose of it all.

Golden Review Award: 19 From Our UsersThis is an excellent little shredder. I bought it to shred paper and card to feed my “hot bin” composter. It feels solidly built, and operates as described. It is a quiet and “steady eddie” shredder… it may not be the fastest shredder, but it shreds “confidently”. I’ve shredded paper, cardboard (packaging, cereal boxes and loo rolls just squashed flat.. and it does it with confidence, even “dragging” the cereal boxes into the shredding shoot when I didn’t feed them in squarely. I like the fact that the shredding bin is a simple pull out drawer, much better than having to lift the shredding unit off of the bin. Only run it for a couple of days, but compared to the cheap units I’ve bought from Staples before, its worth the extra money. In the “cheap to medium” range, it does what it says on the tin, and is value for money.. so long as it lasts!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our Usersonly had it a couple of weeks but so far it does everything it’s supposed to. Shreds multi pages, multi types of paper inc staples and is quiet. The pull out waste basket saves having to take the top off to empty like my last shredder and can handle quite a lot before needing emptying and the wheels make it easy to move around. The only negative i can think of and this is very minor is there are 2 plastic hooks inside the waste basket to hold a polythene bag for ease of disposing the shredded paper, these hooks are pretty much useless and the bag can move allowing shredded paper to get behind the bag as well as inside making emptying a little messy.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersEarly impressions of this are very good. Got one of these after becoming increasingly frustrated at most shredders that cut out after anywhere between 3 and 6 minutes of shredding, and then need 30 minutes ‘cool down’ period before they will work again.

In practice, this means that if you are decluttering paperwork that you end up filling far more bags than can be shredded because they shredders keep cutting out.

There are quite a few Fellows shredders on here that cost upwards of 200 that still only work for a few minutes before cutting out.

So, while this did strike me as expensive for something I really consider to be in the same breath as an item of office stationery, it is nevertheless relatively good value.

The main selling point for me was the 1 hour run period. I have run it for two 1 hour stints now, and it has worked as marketed so far. Keeps on chomping away. Not too loud. Convent clear panel at the front so you can see when it’s getting full. Easy to empty. Plenty of sheets per pass, so no issues on that front either.

So, while it was frustration that led me to get this, I have to say that I have been very happy with it, and that it does genuinely solve a real (first world!) problem of shredding continuously for a decent time without stopping.

Did think about the D model which has slightly smaller shredding. But the drawbacks of that are that it does less sheets and also doesn’t chomp on CDs or Credit Cards, so I suspect the motor isn’t as powerful.

Glad I went for this C model. The motor is plenty powerful. Does 18 sheets rather than 12. Also does CDs and Credit Cards. And honestly, the shredding seems plenty small enough to me. Unless you are shredding state secrets or NASA codes I think you will find this one more than adequate.

Only had it a week, so not sure on longevity or customer service, because it has worked fine. But it looks sturdy enough and was well-packaged, so I remain quite hopeful that the 5 star rating will stay.

    Well done Bonsai!

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersEVERYONE SHOULD HAVE ONE OF THESE!!!! Did 2 years worth of shredding without overheating (45mins running constantly) Really doesn’t get jammed when overfeed. More of a quiet hum than a loud grinding (We have a dental practice and cant usually shred if someone on phone /dealing with customer, but not a problem now) Gave 4 star as the size of strips can still be read if font around size 10

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersWe do quite a lot of shredding in our house. When our Swordfish 2000XCD cross cut shredder died after more than nine years faithful service I checked what was on the market today. The current version of the Swordfish 2000XCD looks very similar to the EverShred C149-C with the same sized bin, but cost about 100 more. The Swordfish is rated for continuous use (recommended maximum 2 hours without a break) whereas the Bonsaii is rated for 1 hours use. The Swordfish is rated for a maximum of 20 80gsm sheets at a time and the Bonsaii is rated for 18. The Swordfish has a noise rating of 58dB and the Bonsaii 62dB. The Swordfish has a “bin full” light but the Bonsaii does not. With such similar specifications it was hard to justify the 100 premium for the Swordfish, so I decided to purchase the Bonsaii EverShred C149-C. It has been in service with us for six weeks now, and has had a lot of work to do as we are having a sort out prior to moving home. So how does the EverShred C149-C compare to our old Swordfish 2000XCD? The Evershred is much quieter than the old Swordfish, but is marginally slower and the “throat” of the Swordfish would take A4 in landscape orientation while the Bonsaii needs it to be in portrait. The Bonsaii bin does not hold as much shredded material, but is very adequate and the plastic of the cabinet and bin is not as thick as the Swordfish was but is nonetheless up to the job. Our old Swordfish died because the plastic fingers which separate the cutter disks and keep them clear of debris gradually became broken because the “bin full” light was hit and miss and the cutters were frequently picking up already-shredded material from a full bin. Not having a “bin full” light in the Bonsaii is an advantage as it forces you to pay attention to how full the bin is, rather than relying on the technology. Based on our experience so far I think the Bonsaii EverShred C149-C is a very worthy successor to our old Swordfish.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis is a really nice shredder, best I’ve ever owned. Ripped through over 500 sheets in no time. It also shreds light weight corrugated cardboard very nicely! You can also hear very clearly if you’re getting to capacity load because of how it slows down. I try to keep the load under that point so it’ll last a good long time.

Golden Review Award: 20 From Our UsersHad to update my shredder due to sorting out 10 years worth of domestic paperwork. While this unit was not as quiet as the description led me to believe it was certainly a lot less noisy than my original domestic shredder. The Bonsaii C149-C handled the mountain of paperwork admirably and the fan kept the motor cool when put under heavy load. I have used this all day, non stop, and have experienced no paper jams or overheat cut outs. As this unit is new then it would be misleading to comment on reliability but I expect to have no problems and can see myself using this shredder well in to the future. As for the seller, this was ordered 1 day and delivered the next, well packaged to ensure undamaged delivery, and I would defiantly recommend this product and seller.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersBought this shredder as my other one use to overheat when going through lots of letters. The bonsai has a built in fan which keeps the motor cool so it works well. It manages to cope with quite a lot of paper which helps take less time to clear out all my files.

    good:
    large bin
    hasn’t jammed yet
its on wheels so I roll it under my desk when not using it
    easy to empty
window on the front shows you when to empty

    bad:
sometime when I pull out the shredder, I grab the handle on the front to roll it, and the bin pulls out spilling the shredded paper.
it’s not as quite as some of the others ive used.
its larger then you think, but needed due to the capacity of the bin.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersGood shredder. Really does shred cards and cd’s without issue. It’s quite addictive and I’ve been shredding lots of stuff! Only gripe is that I think they could have provided some shredder oil along with the shredder as it sounds like it needs it straight away. If they had I would have given a five star review. Comes very well packaged for safe keeping and wheels are already on so no assembly is required. Also comes with a clear plastic bag to line the bin. It is light on its wheels to move around a room. Not to heavy if needed to lift. Would cope fine in an office environment as well as a home in my opinion.

I’ve been using this shredder for 3 days now and not a single paper jam! Not meaning to be cynical, but that’s not bad as these things go. It is very compact. My only concern is that I’ll forget to stop shredding after 6 minutesand begin to have problems with the motor. But I like it fine so far.

Amazon’s delivery service is another story…First delivery failed with no notice through the door though they claimed to have been here… 1 day wasted. 2nd day I was virtually sitting on the stairs waiting. Then heard a tell tale sound of a card dropping. Ran down and found a tried to deliver card. I ran outside and 2 guys in the delivery van sain thay had been to my house, but admittedto not having tried the doorbell. Sorry, Amazon, but not good enough.
