Does the speed of the IXO vary as you squeeze the trigger?

One of the main features of the IXO 6 is its Speed Control, which allows you to vary the speed infinitely. The more you pull the trigger, the faster the IXO drives.

How do I remove the screwdriver bit?

The bit is held in place by a magnet, so you can just pull the bit out to release it.

How do I use the IXO to drill?

In order to drill you need to expand the IXO by the drilling attachment, which is sold individually. Simply remove the cap of the IXO and click the attachment on, choose a drill and start drilling.

Are the existing accessories for the previous versions of IXO compatible with the new IXO 6?

Yes, all additionally available IXO attachments are compatible with the IXO 6.

    Wished I`d bought one years ago. Great battery life; ideal for those DIY jobs around the house. I use mine in the garage when I`m working on my bikes and doing car maintenance. Saves my wrists and just makes many jobs soo much easier. Fully recommend.

    Made diy jobs around the house so much easier thus cutting time when screwing lots of screws! So much nicer in the hand too. Quickly charges in 3 hours and only uses 5V charger. Has good torque ans nice light to illuminate areas that are dark to see. So far, so good. Great buy.

    Slightly lacking in torque but still a good fast and lightweight screwdriver, I dissambled two beds and assembled 2 more on a single charge so the battery life seems pretty good. All in all very happy with it and would recomend for the average home DIY user.

    Product was advertised as coming in a case – no case came with the unit. However, package was upgraded to 7th Generation at the same price – who needs a case ?

    Compact size of battery screwdriver with storage box. Rechargeable. Holds the charge well, feels comfortable to use and optional attachments are available. Easy to recharge but haven’t had to recharge it yet, so thats good. Happy with this purchase.

    I think if you are considering buying this, just do it. it made so many jobs around the house SO much easier. With many attachments sold for it now, no job is too big for this little guy!

    I like the IXO so much I have two. The one at home I mostly use with the little saw for cutting up recycling, but occasionally gets used for DIY. At work I use it for any light jobs where an impact driver is just over kill. It has a reasonable amount of torque, beating what most people could achieve with a standard screwdriver, and requires little effort.

    Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI’ve owned one of these for many years and just bought this one as a present for someone and am really disappointed that it has no case to carry it in – I did not notice and just assumed it would. Would have been nice to at least have offered the option of buying one. Not opened yet so can’t comment on anything else.

    I have had one of these for +10 years, really useful around the house for furniture assembly, diy etc, and am amazed by the size of screws it will drive. Bought this as house warming gift for sister which she loves – guaranteed to be more useful than a house plant! And will last longer!

    My husband is new to DIY and still trying hands to mend different things at home. He is quite happy with this tool and it eases his job to a great extent. Saves a lot of time
    And perfect speed control is the best feature it contains. He loves to find excuses to use it these days and for me that’s a great win win – as I don’t need to remind him to fix things that needs mending.

    I have a previous generation Bosch IXO Screwdriver which has been rendered useless because the plug lead to the charger has frayed and snapped! A replacement charging unit was nearly as expensive as this latest version of the IXO Screwdriver, so I decided to upgrade since it it a USB charging system. It comes with a selection of bits and also a handy carrying case which my other screwdriver did not have.

    Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI bought this Bosch cordless screwdriver because I’ve bought a flat pack bedroom wardrobe. The battery lasts a long time, definitely long enough to build a 6 door, multi shelved wardrobe with drawers etc. I included the attachments too, right angle and close to the edge end bits. You can always count on great quality and longevity with Bosch. You might pay more but you get an excellent tool. Recommended.

    Bought though Amazon through Prime, so next day excellent delivery. Charges up on standard USB supplied (but no plug) in about 2-3 hours. I used to repair a couple of long screws in my garden gate, selected the bit required. Power doesn’t feel that promising, but what was worse was the screwdriver but had fallen out!!! The Speed control is must have when being careful with the new units. The included bits are tough and are a good size range. I have also just bought the Drill Adapter, so I’ve now got even more use for this!

    Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThis sits alongside my Festool 10.8v drill/driver (at 5x the price of this driver) and both get used with pleasure and equal respect.

    I bought this IXO 6th generation screwdriver because it is lightweight. Even the Festool is lumpy by comparison (1080 grammes with the chuck attached). I spend much of my time doing bespoke picture framing, and need something with a good power to weight ratio. And this little Bosch is just perfect.

    Why do cordless power tools all weigh 1kg or over? Some considerably more if you put a big battery on. And they are mostly intended for use with just one hand. That’s quite a lump, and gives me RSI/wrist strain. This Bosch is 380 grammes, including a short screwdriver extender and the screwdriver bit; fantastic.

    This 6th generation is variable speed (some of the previous versions aren’t), and starts very slowly with a slight squeeze of the trigger, great for small screws and getting the bit properly engaged into the screw. It’ll easily drive 4mm x 25mm screws into a pre-drilled hole in normal softwood. Reversible by using the switch above/in front of the hand grip, which is reachable with your thumb.

    I’ve had it for several months, and have only just had to recharge it!

    Honestly, brilliant. so ergonomic. So many cordless drills are simply too big even for the normal man’s hand, leading to strain and injury. This Bosch sits really well in the hand, has a nice simple grip, and it gives you great confidence for fiddly jobs.

    And now Bosch have introduced extras for it, like a torque control (never use torque control, prefer to ‘feel’ my way in and tighten using my own judgement, this never strips a hole with the screw ending up just going round and round) and a corkscrew !?!.

    Smaller power tools like this are often under-rated. If you’re looking for something which is good value for money, this is it. For home or in the workshop.

    This a a good little handy tool. As a refrigeration engineer, I use it to open up equipment not for drilling. The variable speed is a useful update on the old model, as is the battary indicator lights. Where it falls short is battary life and power. The older model seemed to last much longer on a single charge, and seemed to have more power. I’m still happy with it, but it seems a shame that it’s not better then the old model in every way.

    Age has weakened my wrists and having with difficulty unscrewed some fittings for painting I decided to invest in an electric screwdriver for putting things back together. Very impressed with this Bosch cordless. I chose the speed variable version simply because it seemed more sensible to do so and this screwdriver is nice and compact. It dealt in a jiffy with two inch wood screws. The torque seems perfectly adequate for any domestic DIY that I can foresee. There’s also a nice box to keep everything together. Recommended.

    This is for light screwdriver duties. For example I managed to fit my wardrobe doors with relative ease. This included the door handles from ikea and the hinges which needed finishing off by hand. Saved ALOT of effort though. For the handles I created pilot holes using the Bosch drill attachment which worked a treat prior to screwing in the handles. So easy to use, managed all the screwing on one charge. If a little low on battery it charges very quickly. Also recommend getting one of the angle attachments for awkward corners.

    Bought this a couple of days ago, so have not used it in anger yet, but, looks and feels a nifty piece of kit. Easy to change bits and charge. Would have been nice to have had a charger socket for the wall as well, but, my raspberry pi power plug does the trick. It also works with a phone charger as well, which is handy. All in all quite pleased, trying to get it registered now for the 3 years guarantee.
    Update: Used it for the first time today. OK, but not for heavy duty use. But still handy to have around for those smaller jobs

    Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is not a do everything screwdriver. This is a versatile and lightweight screwdriver that can do all those small and medium tasks that you might need around the house. I used this for making a triple dresser unit for the dining room that takes up a whole wall. This was the perfect companion for that job.
    I would have liked a torque limiter built in to make sure all screws are torqued the same, but I knew that’s not part of this package when I bought it. Battery life has been great so far. Holds up for half a days use doing flat packs and is easily charged using micro USB.
    Would happily recommend.

    Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersWhile this is a little bigger than the first very version of these we have (we were embarking on a lot of DIY and more than a little IKEA for the kids rooms) it is comfortable and easy to use with a long battery life.

    Until the first one, it does not come with a charging cradle, instead you just plug in a micro-usb lead.

    It does come with a neat case but the big difference is the direction switch. Rather than being on the side, so you push it inwards from one side or the other to set the direction (or accidentally change the direction), this new version has a very easy thumb switch on the top, which is FAR better.

    The only (small) gripe I have is that the barrel diameter, the overall thickness of the screwdriver, is quite large, so you cannot always get the bit into moderately tightfitting areas and have to resort to a manual screwdriver.

    Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI have had multiple drill/drivers and I still do. I have always thought that they would obviate the need for a small, lower powered screwdriver; I was wrong. Since purchasing this screwdriver, I have used it far more than my bigger drill/drivers. It is small, light and comfortable, and it holds its charge well. I used it recently to assemble a large, kit bookshelf. I regularly use it to change guitar strings on my many guitars, using a Nomad 1/4″ tuner bit. It is an exceptionally handy tool, and its case has a small footprint, allowing me to sit it permanently on my workbench, for quick access. I am grateful for its LED light, which helps my ageing eyes line-up Phillips with Head. Ergonomic, light, compact. It is not for heavy drilling or driving. It is suited to lighter, repetitive screw-driving. Value for money!

    Golden Review Award: 4 From Our Users… I can’t doo it Cap’n. I doon’t ha’e the pow-uh.

    Its a good enough indoors, light work kind of device, but found it struggles with 6mm/8mm x 50mm+ screws into wood.

    Very convenient though if requiring a recharge a little more often than I expected. I use it a lot.

    Edit: My initial 3 stars may have been a tad on the harsh side. Used this device today to assemble a truckload of wall units, it did well, needed a charge but I needed a sandwich. Bumped up to 4 stars. Was still only light work, just lots of it. Definitely not a 5 star device though.

Although the price seems cheaper but i think it should be professional courtesy to inform potential buyers on the lack of charger adapter and let them decide if whether they will proceed to buy or maybe buy the set with a charger included but slightly higher price. In that sense i think its misleading to the buyers. 4 stars to an otherwise 5 star product.

    Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersWell designed and easy to use. I find the variable speed control to be very useful. I also wanted torque control, but had to buy a separate attachment for that. This is a worthwhile purchase and adds to the versatility of the tool. This attachment has to be removed for storage in the supplied box, but there is a space in the box for attachments, so everything is kept together. USB charging is useful as there is no need for yet another power brick.

    One thing to bear in mind with most electric screwdrivers is that if the screw is in a tight space then the width of the screwdriver will get in the way. In that case, a bit with a long shank will be required. I have not actually experienced this problem yet.

    I had not expected this to be as useful as it is, and I keep finding jobs for it that I have put off in the past.

    This is almost a must-have if you do a lot of screw jobs. I suffer from finger pain after days of DIY stuff screwing lots of bolts. And my finger skin starts to peel off. Then my neighbour lends me his electric screwdriver and I immediately feel like getting one for myself. I am so happy about this purchase. I won’t hesitate to recommend this to anybody. Your fingers will thank you.

    One thing to note is that you may want to purchase a few more 1/4 screwdriver bit.

    What a handy tool!

    Very good handy tool to help with and flat packs purchase that comes with hundreds of screws to put together and saves an enormous amount of time and effort.
    This IXO 6 comes with speed control depending on how hard you pushing the button which is very useful so you don’t screw right through the item (they do sell a separate adapter that you can put on which has the torque setting – maybe useful for the older models which don’t have speed control but not required for this device)
    Note: this did not come with wall plug as shown in picture at my time of purchase but did come with USB cable (need to purchase the the USB Wall plug separately) or use existing phone plug to charge this device.

    Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersThis is my second Bosch IXO cordless screwdriver, bought at a very reasonable price during deals of the day on a whim. My previous generation IXO has been going solidly for almost a decade without any issues at all. As with most electronic items with non-replaceable internal batteries, it has been holding a little bit less charge than when it was new as expected, but still lasts long enough and with enough power to be useful so I wasn’t necessarily looking to replace it as such.
    This new version has all the functionality of the previous version with a few improvements as you would expect.
    First of all and for me personally as someone with fairly large hands, I found the revised placement of the direction switch a much better location to mount it. With the previous one the switch was just above the trigger and on a few occasions I found when I applied pressure in certain angles my fingers/thumb would inadvertently knock the switch out of position. On the new one it is a bigger switch and is located on the top of the tool behind the charging light making it much more user friendly and ergonomic.
    Another revised feature is the new micro USB charging port located at the base of the hand grip, it achieves a more positive connection than the old charging cradle which would sometimes slip off its small charging spring clips, also being micro USB it’s much easier to find a cable to charge it since it’s a very common charging method and easily replaced if damaged/lost.
    One feature that has gone slightly backwards in terms of functionality is the LED on the front of the tool. When used with the packaged rubber surround it is perfectly usable, even having 2 different settings if you rotate the cover 180 switching it between a spotlight to more of an area floodlight. It only becomes an issue if you attach any of the accessories to the front, I regularly use the offset adapter and the variable torque setting adapter, both of which completely obscure the light, not a deal breaker by any means but could of been avoided as it was on the older model being mounted slightly below the edge of the adapter.
    Apart from this small gripe and to be honest it’s a very small one, I’ve found the tool to be extremely useful just as it’s older sibling has been and I’m sure will continue to be while the new one is on charge, always handy to have backup!

    CORDLESS 3.6V LITHIUM-ION SCREWDRIVER with 10-PIECE BIT SET

    ‘Made in Hungary’

    The impressive set comes in a cellophane-wrapped, white, aluminium-type case, measuring around 24 cm x 16 cm x 6 cm. The case is opened easily by pulling on the handy red & white fabric tab labelled ‘IXO’. The screwdriver has a similar tab to help extract it from its snug fit in the case insert. The lid of the case has a layer of sponge-type lining.

    Inside the case, in a compartmentalised, pre-formed rigid plastic-type insert are:

    1 x SCREWDRIVER HAND-PIECE
    1 x MICRO USB CHARGING CABLE (around 1.5 m + UK plug)
    1 x MULTI-LINGUAL COMBINED SAFETY & INSTRUCTION MANUAL
    1 x 10-PIECE BIT SET, consisting of the following styles & sizes:

    * 3 x Phillips : PH0, PH1 & PH2
    * 2 x Pozidriv : PZ1 & PZ2
    * 1 x Slotted : S4
    * 2 x TORX : T10 & T20
    * 2 x Internal Hexagon (Allen Key) : HEX4 & HEX5

    The 10 bits are tightly contained in a rubber strip, which does make extracting the required bit quite difficult and needing a firm tug. I found it easier pushing through from the bottom rather than trying to pull from the top. The chosen bit is easy to push in to place and pull out from the screwdriver unit.

    The screwdriver unit arrives with some charge within the Lithium-ion battery but instructions advise to fully charge the unit prior to first use. This took around 3 hours, as indicated by the green charging light no longer being illuminated on the top of the unit.

    Relatively lightweight, the part soft-grip driver unit is comfortable in hand and is easy enough to use one-handed, as shown in the website pictures. However, I used both hands to ensure the straight application of the screw.
    Simply slide to select ‘forward’ or ‘reverse’ on the red switch on the top of the unit and pull on the two-finger size red ‘trigger’ to commence screwing or unscrewing.
    The integrated light (white) is also activated via the trigger, with a choice of ‘spot’ or ‘scatter’, by simply twisting the ‘Dispersing Lens’.

    My only slight criticism is that I would prefer the magnetism that holds the chosen bit in place to flow through the bit to hold the screw.
    Other things I would consider if purchasing again would be a variable speed option and a built-in clutch mechanism to stop the possibility of over-screwing.

    Having said that, it is a sturdy piece of equipment and well presented, making it a great gift idea, especially with Christmas just around the corner (at the time of writing).

    ooOoo

    I bought this on impulse on the ‘Black Friday’ offer, mainly for the cordless capability and opted to include the also discounted, separate 32-piece Bit Set in the purchase, to ensure I would have every possible angle covered, so to speak, and, in particular, all the correct ‘bits’ required for a washing machine door-seal replacement. This required multiple access points using an ‘Internal Hexagon’ bit size 3. The screwdriver made light work of all the screws, in reverse mode, including one that had slightly rusted and needed a little more care. Re-assembly of the washing machine was just as easy, with plenty of power left at the end.

    Accessories are available for the BOSCH IXO 3 & 4, but it looks like they may obscure the light functionality?

    These include, at the time of writing:

    TORQUE SETTING ATTACHMENT
    EASY-REACH ADAPTER
    ANGLE GEAR ATTACHMENT
    CUTTER ADAPTER
    CORKSCREW ADAPTER
    SPICE MILL ADAPTER
    BBQ ADAPTER
