Makes life easier for mashing anything up. Wonder why I took so long to buy one: the speed is good and works for me.
A well made product. I do a lot of Indian cookery and a handy blender is an essential tool for preparing ingredients.
We were on a budget, but in desperate need of a new hand blender. We took a risk on this, as it was cheap and low wattage but we were short on cash so we ordered one, however it paid off because this is actually a great product! We’ve used it for blending smoothies, making creamy mash, blitzing veggies and soups and it’s never let us down yet!
Bought this because my sister has the same one and it’s on offer, not had chance to use it but she swears by hers and it was a bargain. It’s by Bosch a reputable brand so it won’t really let you down!
I’ll start mincing up my stuff when I need to use it, or when my teeth give up!
Edit:
My mum got one of these too, and her teeth thanks it muchly
So many uses. Works well. Good quality. No problems do far. Had it for over two months.
Works better than the cheaper ones but even after a couple of uses it’s starting to mark the plastic bowls and the blade cap is never going to last long. It’s like nothing is made right anymore.
A replacement of older machine, works well all users seem happy , so do I .
Easy to use and really feels robust
Only chops things up it won’t outer
So I use mine for vegetable soup mostly and it is fine but if I want a creamed soup I use a blender
This is so easy to pop off the blender and rinse clean much quicke
Only used it once so far. The motor feels really strong.
Fab product had one previously for 8 years always but Bosch
Easy to use and doesn’t take up loads of room in the kitchen.
It’s perfect for my homemade pasta sauces ( courgettes, onion and cream blended) and excellent for smoothies (my girlfriend loves it!) A bit on the noisy side, but you won’t use it for hours on end.
Extremely easy to clean and store.
I love the measured cup that comes with, it is very handy.
Highly recommend it!
Perfect for use in making mug cakes. Just the right size head to fit inside mug when beating contents for cake
Fantastic. Don’t know how I managed without it. So easy to clean and excellent value for money.
I love this. It’s easy to use and makes great milk shakes.
Very pleased with my blender. Good quality and so very useful. Excellent value for money and prompt delivery
I needed a kitchen tool that was easy to use for making breadcrumbs and was successful once I knew to break the bread up quite small to put in the container supplied to blitz. Also, for soups etc. A very handy utensil and pleased with its overall performance.
Replaced old hand blender. Its a very convenient tool since it is very quick to put together, use, take apart and wash.
Would recommend
Very handy, although a bit bulky. It is easy to use and doesn’t spray the food around while on use.
We had a similar looking unit from KW previously, but what a difference this is, easy to clean and blends way faster and finer, great product.
Does exactly what it says, perfect for liquidising soups in the pot. One click turn to remove and clean and reassemble. Arrived on time, well packaged. Good value
Blends well and is easy to clean.
I’ve used it mostly for soups, so it has blended a variety of meats and vegetables.
A locking power switch would be a benefit, although once you get your technique right, it doesn’t take much holding. As there are no vents in the blade cowl, it can lock to the basin, but loosing the power button frees it.
Good for the price, if not perfect.
Use for small portions of baby food. Does what it says on the tin. Need to add lots of water or liquid to ensure its smooth.
So much better than my old blender, much more powerful and easier to use. However, it is top heavy if you try to store it standing up, which my last blender wasn’t. I now store it in the 2 parts after it fell over and broke a bit off. Still works now that it’s glued back together but wish I’d known how unstable it was before it broke.
Got this to replace my old one as it had gone mankey! Its quite big and sturdy but I like i
Excellent blender. More powerful than ones costing less and certainly worth paying a little extra. Makes short work of blending vegetables when making soup. Impressive professional appearance with the body being black and the blender (which is detachable for easy cleaning) being stainless steel. A joy to use.
I totally love this stick; it’s fast, effective, and not especially heavy to hold. The real bonus is the wavy rim which is far better than the designs with vents, which take ages to clean. This is one rinse under the hot tap and bosh! done!
It has a cleverly designed blade which suctions downwards, so it does take a minute or two to get used to, but it blitzed a catering sized pan of soup in under ten minutes. I love it!
Mum has asked for a new one so purchased as an xmas gift she seems to be happy with it so far and was shocked with power it packs.
Powerful bit of kit. Replaced the old one when it expired and I guess things have moved on a fair bit. This is a great blender and will serve purpose very well. Easy clean due to it being stainless steel, so no staining either, you know like the old sdyic ones did when blending tomatoes and such.
I use it for cream soups and love it! Easy to use and worth the money.
Love this and it is so easy to use , clean and store. Just right shape and size fog a hand held item. Wish I had bought one sooner.
Best quality, so easy to clean even without using dishwasher.
It’s a really efficient product I would without a doubt recommend, I chose this brand because it was rated as one of the best hand blenders and I am not disappointed.
Also great for smoothies (frozen fruit, small oats) leaving it to blend for 2min left my smoothie perfectly blended.
Disregard any result complaints in other comments, you can obtain the consistency you look for if you blend it long enough.
Works very well – best hand blender we’ve had! Blade section can be dishwashed too which is nice and easy.
Really nice blender, good quality nice and long. Really easy to clean and quite powerful really happy worth every penny
I use this to whisk up hot soups in the pan, it’s brilliant and you can remove the head for cleaning.
his does whatever job you have to do that needs a blending together especially soups, and is easy to fit in a drawer.
Easy to use, to clean and does an amazing job of blending for soups, sauces and dips.
So glad I bought this model and manufacture.
My partner is a Cordon Bleu trained chef and he swears by it.
I’ve used it quite a bit since I bought it and it grinds really well. It is easy to clean, has a lot of power and is very easy to use. You can easily store it because it doesn’t take up much space. Good quality!!!!
Great little tool for liquidising. Very powerful. Easy to clean and very easy to use. Highly recommend
Arrived on time and well packaged. It basically does what it said it would. Easy to use, quite easy to clean and good value
Bought to replace aged Moulinex. Bit disappointed by the length/weight balance of this. It’s less natural to use and its switch is smaller and more difficult to keep ‘on’. Still, that’s progress!
Very good hand blender. I had a Russel Hobbs before and this one looks more sturdy. It does take a bit of time to get all the veggies mushed but it doesn’t matter as it does the job well. There is only one speed as well, which is not a problem for me.
The first one I ordered broke during transport and I received a replacement the following day so excellent service.
It is also not that noisy compared to the one I had before.
This good quality and reasonably priced 300w hand blender from highly respected Bosch seems to have all the power it needs for its main purpose in my household — making delicious home-made soups. It is straightforward to use and easy to clean, and it comes with a useful bonus measuring-mixing beaker up to 24floz.
Works very well and easy to use. A shame it didn’t mention before I bought it that its not suitable for mashing potatoes its brilliant for soup making and very quick.
I am very happy with this purchase. Its sturdy and easy to use, clean. It has made my life much easier and i use it for blending almost everything. It easy to clean and saves lot of time in blending and cleaning. Highly recommend !!
Been using the blender for a few weeks now, works well is easy to clean, feels well made and is quieter than our old one
Brilliant for blending soups, gravy etc. Easy to clean. Seems much more powerful than our previous blender. Would definitely recommend.
The mixing cup is useful too.
Not sure why I’m rating sheerness! So ignore that rating.
Excellent product it has 2 year Guarantee if you reg it with Bosch its really powerful!!
Tip for it’s full potential make sure you buy the mini chopper from Bosch ..you will never chop an onion again or Coriander!!
Delivered quickly. Easy to use take apart and clean. Some parts ok in dishwasher. I’ve made lots of soup and it blends well without splashing.
Very pleased would recommend
Been using this for about a month now. I had to replace an old plastic one that had melted in hot soup. This one is sturdy, easy to use and quickly blitzes through veg or chickpeas. A pleasure to use. Great product.

I bought one of these back in 2012 (so Amazon tells me). It has finally had a problem, after 8 years of totally faithful service. The lid for the chopper has finally died (everything else still works brilliantly). What we’ve noticed is the connection within the lid from top to bottom doesn’t work properly and you get a really loud noise from the blender now if you try use it, but the blender works fine with other accessories. I think there is some sort of ratchet or cog mechanism hidden inside, which has finally worn out (from the sound / feel when I turn it by hand). I use the blender about once a week now, but have used it much more in the past for chopping onions, garlic, carrots, peppers, ginger, tomatoes. And occasionally nuts, but it isn’t really for that.
Someone else mentioned you can get water inside the lid, and you can, but only if you put it in the dishwasher, wash it under a running tap or soak in a bowl of water. If you use a sponge to clean it, as you are supposed to, it doesn’t get water in. I know, because I did get water in my once and agree it is a pain to get out. My solution was 2 mins with my drill and 2mm bit to drill two holes in the top of the lid, just deep enough to allow me to let the water drain out (on opposite sides, so one lets air in and the other lets water out). That was about 6 years ago, so my solution didn’t break it. Since I did that, I’ve been more careful with cleaning it and never got water in a second time.
The best stick blender I’ve had. We go through 1 of these every 2 years as it is used several times a week. It is quick to clean. The all stainless shaft means there is no staining from carrots or tomatoes etc. The accompanying cup makes blending a tin of tomatoes as simple as can be.
The motor is well powerful and takes on every task we have given it, including crushed ice and hot soups.
The only two things that you need to be aware of is that it has one heck of a down-pull into the beaker and be sure to immerse the blades before starting otherwise you might get splashed. It is a one speed mean machine.
This replaced a very basic rather cheap stick blender I had that broke. I love it! It blends quickly and churns through soup or sauce and I don’t have to move it constantly around the pan like my old one. Then I just remove the end and wash it. Really simple and easy. Wish I’d got this a long time ago!
I bought this to replace a Kenwood which stopped working after many years of faithful service.
What attracted me to this one is that it could be washed in the dishwasher. The downside, as shown, is that carrots will stain the plastic, which is somewhat unsightly looking. I always wonder “is it REALLY clean?”.
The Kenwood had a stainless steel cutting part which is even now beautiful looking, a pity the motor packed in…
Bought this to blend leftover food into smoothies and soups. Works really well, is quick and much less noisy than I thought it would be!
This blender is really good quality for what you get for your money. The accessories are very handy and quite durable. Only expect quality from Bosch.
I bought this model because it has a larger motor and also a larger chopper attachment, the largest I could find on the market, and this is so useful for chopping onions, herbs, nuts, etc. without having to get my large processor out.
Bought this fir our static caravan where a full food processor impractical and bulky. I’m very pleased with its power, its compact but easy to clean. Not massive so not family orientated (made pancake batter for two and it was full) but for what I wanted its perfec
EASY TO OPERATE AND CLEAN. EXCELLENT ON FRAPPE, SOUPS AND SAUCES. THE PLASTIC BODY AND MECHANISM FOR SEPARATING MOTOR FROM WHISK SEEMS A LITTLE FRAGILE BUT THIS IS NOT AIMED AT PROFESSIONAL USERS SO IT WILL PROBABLY BE OK FOR MY LIGHT USE.
I have been looking for a blender for making baby food for a while now. I tried small blenders, large blenders and they jus wouldn’t make the food into a soft consistency. This blender is perfect!!! It has a strong power and blends thru everything I’ve used so far!!
I felt I should write this review after reading a similar tale of how the vegetable chopper attachment for this failed after a few months, and they couldn’t get spares. This isn’t true, mine just failed in a similar way and after a 10 minute call to Bosch customer service, they’re going to send me a replacement for free in the post.
I bought this mainly for blending soups but have ended up using it for so many other things – its particularly good for things like hummus and small chopping jobs when you dont want to have to get out the big blender (or wash it!)
In fact I use this more than my big Kenwood now. I can’t really fault it apart from the vegetable chopper – it’s very easy to clean – just run it under the tap and you’re done.
Unfortunately the vegetable chopper attachment isn’t well designed. It’s a sealed unit – but unfortunately it’s easy for water to get in. Don’t put it in the dishwasher (this is written on the side) and when you do wash it, don’t submerge it.
Unfortunately the chopper unit failed internally (sounded like the motor attachment sheered off) today and it’s now useless – this is after 6 months of light use. After spending 10 minutes reeling from the unfinished hummus situation (had to get the kenwood out). I contacted Amazon via chat who advised to go straight to Bosch – I gave them a call on their UK number and after a short wait spoke to the lovely Alex who confirmed the part I needed and duly dispatched it to my abode.
I’d still buy this again, despite the dodgy vegetable chopper, and look forward to properly blended hummus in the near future!
Replacement for broken equipment. Is working well. Don’t let anything go hard on metal bits!
Never had one of these before as I usually use a blender. This is excellent. Easy to use and much easier to clean than a blender. This particular one is sturdy and does everything well.
Good product, does an amazing job. Product matches description. Came well packed. Very easy to clean.
Works well, 600W makes it crunching a lot of things like butter.
Only downside : cleaning the head can be difficult (it’s difficult to access under the knife) and some water can stay inside the tube. On the plus side, the head goes in the washing machine without any problems (obviously, the motor can’t…)
A cheap and cheerful Hand Blender that does all it is supposed to
Very good value for money. Good build quality and highly effective. Super for baby food.
Made quick work of thick vegetable soup – it’s mostly what I use it for. I hope it lasts as long as it’s predecessor which we had had for over 20 years. I like that the head can go in the dishwasher.
Not as sharp as my previous Bosch hand blended which I gave to my mum for her to prepare my dad’s food who is suffering from vascular dementia. This one is more expensive, but still Bosch for me is far better than the kenwood ones I have had
Replacement for a previous Bosch hand blender. If this lasts as long as the previous one (16 years) – I will be more than happy!
I particularly like the fact that this wee blender is not too heavy, also the fact that it is not very noisy. I have mostly used it for soup so far but have discovered that it is great for making breadcrumbs. I haven’t tried anything else so cannot say much about its versality. Overall this is a good quality, reasonably priced uncomplicated little blender.
I initially thought I was missing a part as the information leaflet inside pictures an additional part/blade for use with a different blending jug but no, everything was there as described on Amazon. Really happy with this gadget and ideal for blending the thicker sauces I make for pasta. If you wanted something that would literally produce a completely smooth result, a regular processor might be the way to go but this is perfect for my needs and very lightweight and easy to use. Cleans up well too in the dishwasher (blade attachment only !).
Good product, strong motor, minimal blade shielding, great vortex. It’s kind of open at the top of the stick, like most are, but not too hard to keep it dry. Haven’t spend much time on the accessories, been using the main metal stick.
Quite pricey but I think worth it.
Perfect product and working very well for the intended use (nut milks).
Bought thus for my elderly Mum fir Mother’s Day. Seems a good quality product and is easy to use, dismantle and clean. Would highly recommend it.
It was okay, its fine for simple things like onions and nuts, but it you wanted to make smooth humous then this isn’t the one for you.
I’ve had little blenders before and always had trouble getting the ingredients in the bowl to mix properly. Not so with this little gem. It quite happily chops and mixes dry amd wet ingredients with no need to take the lid off and scrape down. I absolutely love it. I’ve had it for about 5 years now, so this is a late review! Ok, if you immerse the top lid in water, it does get water in it (and it takes ages to shake it all out!), but you just have to remember to give it a good wipe over instead of plunging it in water. It makes amazing mayonnaise and the lids that come with the small and tall bowls are really useful for keeping things fresh.
I can’t testify to its versatility as I only bought this to make smoothies with my whey protein powder and it does the job superbly. Easy to hold, use and clean. A quick dip in the bowl of washing up water, a couple of short whizzes, a quick rinse under the tap and job done. Storage I found a little awkward. Nearly 15 inches long (OK, 38 cm for you Remainers!) It’s a bit bulky to pop in a kitchen drawer. The whole thing will stand upright on the blender foot but it’s very precarious and topples over at the slightest touch. However, standing it upright in the supplied blender beaker solved this problem for me (see photo). Otherwise, I’d have to separate the base unit from the blender shaft and store it in two halves, which is more than a niggle when used twice a day. Makes great smoothies, that’s all I can tell you.
Bought this for my sister in law and she is delighted with it. Does everything it says it does!
Comes without a pile of extra bits to clutter the kitchen drawer, you’ll never use these, and what’s worse is they’ll remain cluttering up your drawer, unwanted and of forgotten purpose after the blender has blended it’s last soup and been dispatched to tip.
I brought this as a replacement to my previous one (which was exactly the same).
My original one lasted 6/7 years and was used 3-4 times a week.
This is a fabulous gadget, the most used kitchen gadget I own. I use it for making soups, chopping vegetables and garlic and making dog treats. Well worth the money and easy to clean.
I bought this to replace something similar of a different make that had broken. This one is much better. It is more powerful. I use it primarily for pureeing soups and making smoothies. You can take it apart so that the bottom half can be washed easily. The metal bottom half is good because you can put it in a hot pan to puree your soup (obviously you need to be careful with the electric lead and splashing hot liquids but I don’t find that a problem). My previous one had a plastic shaft and bottom half so I was always concerned it might melt in a hot pan. I think the metal will be stronger and last longer (my last was cracked for some time before it finally stopped working). The design is good – pieces of yet to be pureed food do not get stuck in the bottom as they did with my old one. This is a simple piece of kit that works very well. It has one attachment and you use it plugged into the electric. You keep your finger on the button whilst you use it, which was the same system as my old one. I do not find that to be any issue, in fact I prefer it as you have more control. So yes, I would not hesitate to recommend this.
I’ve had this product for a couple months now and am very happy with it. Have used it to make soups and Indian curries. Just found out I can also make aioli/mayonaise with it, which is a huge benefit to me as I have had so many headaches with breaking mayos in blenders/mixers and armaches with doing it by hand. The deep, narrow cup that comes with the blender along with the blade being close to the bottom was perfect for aioli.
The blender is powerful, easy to use, and pretty easy to clean. Good price too. Couldn’t ask for more (except do note that this model does not have the whisk attachment).
I like my soups smooth, unfortunately with this blender, even though it is quite powerful, I cannot achieve creamy texture – maybe I am not patient enough?…. Other than that it’s a good blender, very easy to clean.
I bought this for my wife, who has started making soups as part of her new diet plan. The unit seems well made and is easy to clean. It’s not the most powerful of units, so it does take longer to fine blend vegetables than a full-blown blender. Her only complaint is that after extended use her hand aches a bit, but that could be down to being unfamiliar with the blender. Overall, happiness prevails.

I feel I’ve become something of an expert on hand blenders. This is my sixth in just over 2 years, Including my first-ever Braun, the failure of which after 20 years, due to accident rather than wear and tear, triggered the process.
Lessons I’ve learned include the following:
1. Avoid ALL made-in-China models with two speed or variable speed 800w motors; the two I’ve bought – different-looking and with different brand names, but undoubtedly with the same motor – both burned out after around 3 months daily use, the only ones ever to do so. It may be no coincidence that the instructions warn you not to run them for more than 30secs at a time – which is pretty feeble for a supposedly powerful motor in such small machines, and pretty much impractical.
2. Avoid machines with plastic blade housings – the second Braun I bought started rapidly to wear away its base, despite only ever being used in a pyrex bowl. There’s probably enough plastic by-product in my system already without contributing more.
3. Avoid machines which, in addition to cut-outs in the foot, have extra holes in the side of the blade cover – they clog up, slowing the process and probably therefore contributing to the motor burn-outs. The smaller and narrower they are, the quicker they clog up, but the largest ones are not exempt from this failing.
4. Make very sure that the shaft is very well sealed where it passes up into the stem from the blades. In two of the machines, including the second, cheap Braun, there was a sufficient gap to suck up food which was then very hard to expel for cleaning – if all of it ever was.
5. Avoid all under-powered models, eg, the 200w Voche which had insufficient grunt to puree 500g of well-cooked veggies (no potatoes); 400w is probably the minimum to consider.
6. If possible, use a tried and tested blade cover design; the Philips model Amazon sent me for free constantly developed airlocks inside its cover, resulting in the blades whizzing round in air, not helpful…
So here I am on version number six, but yet again, I am saying only, “So far, so good”; one wouldn’t want to tempt providence with five stars again, knowing how devilishly weak-willed that lady is.
However this Bosch does have several plus points. Big plus, it’s not made in China, for a start, but in Slovenia; it has no holes in the side of the blade cover, very generously-sized cutouts in the base, and a complex seal which seems to be a model of efficient design, where the shaft passes into the stem. The 600w single speed motor has plenty of grunt, and comes with no restrictions on the length of time you may run it – the only recommended constraints being, rather obviously, not to run it longer than you need to do the job, and don’t use it for pureeing potatoes. It has a longer cable than some of the others, too, 130cm.
It’s not perfect. It makes a little more noise than any of the others, but for myself I don’t mind that. The top of the stem that bayonets into the motor handle is quite small, a little too small – and shiny – for my feeble old hand-grip, and the fix didn’t seem as quite as positive or as penetrating as many others. And, presumably because of the large basal cutouts, it doesn’t blend quite so smoothly quite so quickly as my old Braun. But these are minor issues, I feel, compared to its apparent assets.
I remain ever the optimist…
Pleased with it….this is my fourth hand held blender, the first packed up,the second was expensive, a Bamix, but did not dismantle for easy cleaning, the third dismantled (Kenwood) but the rubber seal perished so that it was difficult to assemble. This seems simple (no attachments) and effective.
This is honestly so handy, don’t know how I managed without it. Great for popping in a pan of soup to blend it up, making it all smooth and lovely. The little blender attachment is handy too. I’ve found it perfect for making a smooth guacamole for tortillas. All very easy to put together and also easy to clean (which is important, as I hate fiddly stuff!). The settings on the blender are good too, different speeds so you can pick what you need. Would recommend it. =)
Pros
– Powerful
– Handy mixing beaker with lid for storage
– Mostly easy to clean
– Value for money
Cons
– Chopper Lid not so easy to clean
– Bottom of Mini chopper flimsy
I’ve used this for over 2 years now to blend many things such as onions, carrots, garlic and whole spices using the mini chopper. I’ve also made a banana milkshake and hummus from scratch. The mixing beaker comes in very handy for storing any leftover mixes as it has a lid so I pretty much use it every day. I’ve used the blender foot to blitz up potatoes (chopped half & then in quarters), peppers and even lentils and it does a good job. It shows a whisk symbol on the motor but it didn’t come with one. Cleaning is easy apart from the chopper lid. After washing the chopper lid I realised water had seeped in from the centre and there’s no easy way to get it out other than shaking it vigorously. After that incident I now use a damp sponge to scrub with a bit of liquid to get rid of any smells and then wipe with cloth, other than that the rest of the bits go in washing bowl. Also the bottom of the mini chopper can be quite flimsy a few minor drops can snap a piece of plastic off, however I’m not fussed about it doesn’t affect the overall performance.
I’m very happy with the blender. It does its job well. First times I used it it was not very easy to connect or remove the attachments, but now I don’t have any problems with that. It’s great to make sauces in small cups. The blender is strong enough to chop nuts in the mini-chopper attachment. I like that it’s lightweight, easy to hold in hand. Great product for everyday use, good value for money.
Until now I’ve used a food blender/mixer to make soups. I bought this to save on washing up. I find that it blends soup to a lovely texture. The button is difficult to use with a thumb, but I think that it is designed to be used with the fingers, as it’s better to hold that way. My only gripe is that you have keep the button held for it to work, I would have preferred it to stay on once I pressed it and another press would stop it. Apart from that I am very pleased with it, hence 5/5. I buy Bosch because they have been outstandingly reliable (I still have a Bosch drill that is now 18 years old and still working perfectly) and certainly worth the money spent.
I BOUGHT THIS IN ORDER TO MAKE SOUP AND TO CHOP VEGETABLES. IT WILL ONLY CHOP ROOT VEG LIKE CARROTS IF YOU PRE-CUT THEM INTO SMALLISH CHUNKS. IT WILL DO AN ONION SUCCESFULLY IF YOU QOVUARTER THE ONION FIRST. WHAT IT IS NOT SO GOOD AT IS TO CUT VEG INTO UNIFORM CHUNKS, IN ORDER TO PUT IN A CASSEROLE. THE REASON IS THAT IT CHOPS THE VEG IN ‘RANDOM SIZE CHUNKS’ AND IF YOU LEAVE THE VEG IN FOR TOO LONG IT COMES OUT VERY SMALL. IT IS VERY, VERY GOOD AT BLENDING FOR SOUPS.
OVERALL I’M VERY PLEASED WITH IT AND GLAD I BOUGHT IT. THE BOWL WITH THE CUTTER IN IS SLIGHTLY LARGER THAN THE OTHER MAKES OF ‘MINI CHOPPERS’ IM PLEASED WITH ITS SIZE. I THINK IT IS GOOD QUALITY AND SHOULD LAST, HOPEFULLY.
A GOOD PURCHASE AND WORTH THE MONEY.
Excellent little hand blender and chopper. Quiet, smooth operation from the powerful motor, and the parts clip and unclip precisely. As always watch the Amazon price history (at the time of writing it is 30 and looks a bit pricey compared to the 23 when I ordered from Amazon in October 2014), but either way this is a nice, well balanced piece of kit.
The chopping jug is very easy to use and works very well – far more consistent than my old full size food processor, and the machine is nicely controllable, with the lower speed controllable, and a higher set speed if required. The blender foot goes in the dishwasher, as does the chopping jug and blade. The top of the chopping jug is not dishwasher safe, and Bosch recommend wiping clean rather than immersion even in the washing bowl. That’s not ideal, and hopefully Bosch will give this some thought in future (dishwasher proof, please!).
The only other thing to be aware of is that the buttons are slightly recessed and require a good press. If you’ve got long, elegant fingernails you’ll struggle to operate this. For the rest of mankind there’s no such problems.
Overall, happily recommended.
Every kitchen needs an immersion blender to blend up small amounts of puree, mix things in pans and general do stuff where the fuss and clean-up of a large free standing blender/food processor isn’t worth the hassle. There are loads of them on the market, and most of them do a pretty similar job.
I guess if there are any disinguishing features that make one immersion/hand blender stand out above another, its down to a few characteristics
– robustness – does the mixer attachment attach firmly and securely with no risk of the drive shaft breaking or stripping; will it take the knocks and bangs that will happen in a kitchen
– blade/blade housing design – does it quickly pull up food to puree/liquidise whats in your bowl or pan, without splashing liquidised food all around (I’ve had some very messy accidents with poorly handled, poorly designed immersion blenders…
– speed – generally, a bigger motor is better, to give you the power to blast through your food; variable speed control isn’t needed, just one or two speeds and an easy pulse switch is fine, but its a great thing to have when you’ve got it
ergonomics – is it well balanced in your hand, leaving the other hand free to hold the bowl/pan with your food in it?
The Bosch comes out great on all these tests:
– Its made out of robust very thick plastic, clicks together very nicely and feels like it will take a beating.
– It blasts through food with rather less splashes than I expected – the design of the blade and blade housing seems to be good at pulling food up into the blade to chop, but without spraying it out all over the place.
– The motor is a pretty hefty one, not the biggest, but easily big enough and feels quite capable of pulverising most of what you throw at it.
– Variable speed is great when working with more difficult food.
– It sits brilliantly in the hand and – overall – feels a very tight and well put together piece of kit
The accessories it comes with – the bowl/beaker and herb cutter are pretty superfluous – I’d rather have had a whisk attachment with it, if I’d had the choice, rather than having to look to buy one separately. And the included wall brake seems daft (and slightly flimsy for what it is). The blender sits quite happily on its end in a corner.
But overall, well pleased with my purchase. An excellent, well designed take on one of those kitchen essentials. If you’re going to buy an immersion blender, it might as well be this one.
This is a great blender and from shopping around one that I can deem to be great value – it competes with far more expensive models admirably. It feels solid and well built, as I expected from Bosch, and I hope ends up being long lasting. The only reason I didn’t rate it as 5 stars is a very mild criticism about the mini-chopper attachment (which considering I have a separate unit already I probably won’t even use) – it doesn’t feel as if it’s from the same quality factory as the rest of the set, and isn’t one that I’d trust to last too long were you to use it for harder foods. Otherwise, a very good bit of kitchen kit!
This is a really nice product, I was reluctant at the beginning because of the price. I am very good with tech stuff, I saw this machine and thought it’s too cheap to be good. Not at all, this is a brilliant product, easy to use, very clever design and extremely easy to clean, after each use juts rinse and that’s it, doesn’t need more than that no matter the use.
I definitely recommend this product to everyone, Excellent quality versus price and use.
This is my 3rd one since I started making smoothie every morning. The previous two were ok but after they both gave up working after approx 1 year. I was absolutely thrilled and notice the difference when i first used the new blender, it’s powerful yet quieter than the previous ones and so easy to clean as with the old ones they tend to be be a bit rusty after awhile even its stainless steel.
The chopper is so much more efficient as well. Over all it’s the best so far i highly recommend it.
