4 years still working.
I cut roots of trees with blades 150-200 mm deep in the ground about 4 years. It is still working like new . I cannot use chainsaw for this kind of work. The shorter the blade the better.I clean the the dirt and oil after using it . If you clean inside sometime, screws must be coated with loctite .
Great piece of kit!
I had this item bought as a present from my partner, for cutting up wood for my log burner. Does the job amazingly. Being as it is a Bosch electrical item, I would have thought this saw would have a far better method of attaching the blades. Nowhere near as good as my Makita saw. Still deserves top marks in my opinion. For the money this saw is proper ace value!
Great professional saw, great buy, would def recommend
Great saw, tad heavy, but very versatile and very strong, would def recommend
The Bosch reciprocating saw is amazingly useful and powerful,I bought it to help cut back a 100 metre long 4m high hawthorn hedge, I’ve got a chainsaw too, but the Bosch is much more manageable, and less dangerous for awkward positions, and smaller branches. It isn’t cordless so you do need a long extension, although it does have a 5m mains cable, it is very powerful, not too heavy and just keeps going without overheating.
The blades can be swapped over very easily without any tools, I bought some 20cm blades for it which were great for cutting branches up to around 4 inches thick.
It’s also really useful for cutting out old tree roots, because if the blade goes into the earth it doesn’t damage the saw, unlike a chainsaw.
If you use a metal saw blade it’s great for cutting off old pipes or nail ends.
It should be remembered though it’s not really a saw for making accurate precision cuts, for joinery, as the flexible blade will wander out of square.
A definite recommendation.
All powerful, multi-material cutter. Trimmed trees, devoured fencing with the wood/metal combination blade and sliced through stone like butter. Easy blade change makes it versatile, and the 1100W motor doesn’t falter. Slightly heavier than expected but, that works in you favour when gravity biased cutting. The Bosch blades are resilient, even when the carrier is not in contact with the surface. What’s next!!!!!
Works good, nice carry case, good quality saw
Bought it even though i read the negative reviews regarding the saw blades getting stuck due to the saw holding pin being damaged / broken, all i can say is i used this saw to cut up some cherry trees and their large stumps (I had to buy a chainsaw in the end as the stump was too much for it). I went through several high quality expensive blades and put quite a bit of pressure on the saw but it did not break down, the saw blades went blunt instantly though, but the saw carried on like a trooper, it did get quite warm but never burnt out (I did stop a few times to let it cool down).
I feel this is a very good quality reciprocating saw from a well known and trusted brand, not sure on the after sale warranty though as I’ve heard Bosch are really bad with this, so i just hope the saw doesn’t break down for a few years lol.
Good Saw for general use.
So far I used it to cut some plants/trees up to 10cm in diameter, some wooden planks and it worked fine. I didn’t give it 5 stars because the blade locking mechanism tends to get stuck/stiff after use, I guess it gets a bit dirty with debris/sawdust. I have been able to unlock it after a few attempts or after adding some WD40 but I don’t know about longevity, hopefully, it will be fine in the long run.
Strong, well buil
Great saw. plenty of power, easy to use. If you get cheap blades you’ll probably regret it.
Highly recommended
Very well priced and very good value for money highly recommended A******
Saw those Roots Away
Bought this for my son as he always seems to have borrowed mine when I need it. Powerful and easy to use. Takes standard blades. I bought mine to remove window frames but I have found that root removing is so easy with it, so thats its main job these days, try i

So far I’m impressed!
Excellent tool as expected from Bosch Pro.
Very powerful, cut through a heavy duty reclaimed railway sleeper with ease, have yet to try on other materials but have no doubt it will make quick work of those it is designed to cut through. Well worth the price IMO.

I use this in my garden for cutting trees etc.
Great tool with easy blade holder and good safe controls.
Absolute beast!
Bosch have done it again. This has instantly become one of my Top 3 favourite power tools.
Have had DIY cordless versions in the past which couldn’t handle anything of substance, but this bad boy cuts through logs & branches like a hot knife through butter.
Can’t recommend it enough. I’ve been chopping stuff up just for fun!!

EXCEEDED EXPECTATIONS
After trying to dig out hundreds of difficult roots in a friends very overgrown garden on moving into a new home, we were left with stubborn, thick shrub and small tree roots that no amount of digging could shift. I bought the Bosch sabre saw with little expectation, but got it at such a good price that it was worth a go. I was truly amazed at the results (and wished I had bought it earlier). It simply ate through the thinner roots like butter, and even the really tough ones submitted in the end. In fact, we’re only left with a huge tree root that can only be bested by a petrol chainsaw.
However, as a 66 year old female pensioner, I put this together and operated it myself. There’s quite a lot of vibration in use, and it can get heavy after a while. However, it did the job excellently and, knowing what I know now, I would happily pay full price for this. I also think that getting an electric saw gave it an edge over A battery operated one (borrowed one, but with limited success), as it seemed to have more power. A great addition to the toolshed!
Very useful tool
Bought this to open up a wall and couldn’t justify the expense of buying the appropriate wall saw plus as it was indoors I couldn’t hook it up to a hose to suppress the dust. It will cut mortar with the appropriate blade and brick although that is a slower process. I actually cut concrete blocks with that blade by drilling them in a straight line perforating them like a stamp and then cutting with the saw. Again, slow process but it worked and left a neat cut.

Heavy duty stuff
Was very surprised at the power. Glad it has a safety button. Bought some addition blades but the supplied ones should last a good while. Usual Bosch build quality & presentation.
Happy to recommend.

You need some practice to realise it's full potential.
It’s a great tool but you need some instruction and practice to get the best from it; for example, the right blade for the material and the correct technique. If you’re an experienced tradesman then you’ll find it easy but then you’d probably go for a more expensive cordless model. In summary I would say it’s a great tool for an amateur.
