Great product my wife is happy, has a lot of accessories
Used numerous times for cake mixtures and bread doughs, smoothies etc. works really well. Haven’t used the mincer attachment as yet but very pleased with the results of all the other attachments and features. It feels sturdy and weighty, it’s easy to clean and the retractable mains lead and size makes it easy to store. Would recommend.
Still not using all of those parts but quality is prefect and got many functions to do with.
I have had this for quite some time now I use it a lot and it meets my needs well. The overall size is perfect for me. Clean lines makes it easy to keep clean. Does most things I need.
Only use once but easy to use, took a bit to get all the part to fit but when known how they go together not that bad works well ,well known brand so great quality I would recommend i
What a fantastic item for the kitchen, it does so many things, very well made.
Bought this ‘machine’ for my wife, she is delighted with build quality, very happy overall with this purchase.
Big help in kitchen and save you lots of time. Easy to clean. Used everyday from day one 🙂
Very pleased with my purchase everything you could possibly need.
Well I’m very impressed and so many attachments. The mixer works well and I like the way the mixer blade moves around the bowl so the contents is well mixed rather than just round in a circle like similar models. The moving arm is excellent allowing you to use it for various attachments. The blender attachment is good, it comes with the plastic jug and blades cut and mix well.
So far, this has been a great multi-function appliance. The included attachments are enough to get you started.
Unfortunately, this doesn’t come with the food processor accessory. Instead, it comes with what Bosch calls the “continuous shredder”. The food processor, or “Liquidizer-Blender” is a separate accessory for 117.42 on bosch-home.ie. It’s also a little disappointing that the meat grinder doesn’t come with, or even have the option for a sausage stuffing tube.
The appliance itself is very lightweight which makes me wonder how long the motor will last.
All-in-all though, it’s a great deal for the price and is a massive space saver over having 3 separate appliances (blender/food processor/mixer).
Quick delivery and very good machine. It carry out the functions which I required.
It helps me a lot in cooking different kinds of cakes.
Received the order yesterday, a day before my expected delivery date so very pleased about that and as soon as i opened it and washed the parts, i began using it.
The machine kneaded about a pound of dough in less than 5 minutes, extremely happy with my purchase and from what ive read, it lasts decades. Not sure if ill be using it for that long but it proves its resilience and Bosch have once again, outdone themselves in the quality department – the only con is that it deals with large amounts of ingredients and the machine does a lot of swaying in the process, almost like its mimicking the action of the kneading but its not off putting in the slightest and wont deal damage to the structure, just something ive observed
Since buying the first Bosch cordless mower, I just fell in love with Bosch and bought several more tools. This time at first I decided to have an Aussie stand mixer, but after going through the reviews, I changed my mind. Kichenaid is totally out of my budget. So between unfamiliar Kenwood and always fantastic Bosch, I again went ahead with the latter, though it has only one 4-star review. After giving it a first go, I could say my choice of Bosch is right again. About the noise issue mentioned in the other user’s review, I did not have it at all. My point is reading the manual carefully and putting an emphasis on phase 5.6 ‘Parked Position’, which probably is the trick.

A great food mixer with a lot of accessories – very pleased
Excellent product. This does everything I need and more besides. Very pleased with this machine.
Wish I had bought this stand mixer years ago. It’s easy to use and clean, not nearly as noisy as my old mixer and does a much better job.
I bought a very inexpensive plastic lidded box from Asda to store the blades, they are sharp so don’t advise you to keep in a bag.
Now that I’ve had this mixer a while I’m finding it a huge bonus for food prep and baking.
I bought this in argos for my partner. Chased it across the country because it’s a hard model to get and I understand why.. It’s phenomenal. Great value. As I sit here typing, I can hear it mixing in the kitchen.. My partners came making skills have improved tremendously. This is the best money you’ll ever spend in terms of speed, performance and variety!
Best food mixer I’ve ever used. Having other attachments makes it a very versatile kitchen aid.
Very compact design. Use it mainly (at the moment ) for bread dough. Makes a large quantitiy with ease. No movement when it is mixing as it has a good motor that is very efficient and exceptionally quiet. Very pleased with the machine but like other people I am disappointed that there isn’t a cover that can be purchased to fit it.
Seems very well made and I expect it to last for a long time.
Extremely satisfied with my purchase.
I purchased this last year and got a very good deal from the Warehouse. It doesn’t take up too much counter space in my small kitchen and it comes with a little handy pouch for the slicing, shredding extras. You do need to find a space for the other attachments.
The good part is that this machine does what it’s supposed to do. It is a monster.. it whips up airy and light cakes, mixes dough with ease and makes orange juice in no time. It slices, shreds and grates veggies and blends smoothies. The splatter guard protects the kitchen being covered in flour very well.
However there’s just a few annoyances though – 1) when whipping up desserts and cakes, if the beater gets stuck at an angle, it is difficult to detach it from the machine. 2) The machine moves about when making the dough and even though there’s suction pads on its feet to make it stable, it doesn’t help.
These are slight niggles and I have learnt to live with it.

My mom like it so much. Realy good kichen helpe
While unboxing this mixer and it’s attachments I was immediately impressed with the build quality. The mixer itself has a large stainless Steel bowl 5.5 litres and has two handles. The dough hook, whisk and silicone Beater are all weighty and substantial. This is equipped with a scale, a timer, and pre installed programs all very easy to use from the digital display. I found the scale very helpful and the timer too especially for kneading yeast dough. I’ve also attempted a Victoria sponge and next I’m going to try my hand at a pavlova. I’m making my own bread, rolls and burger buns. I’m not buying any shop bought bread since at the time of writing this we are in lockdown, I already owned a Bosch mixer but decided to upgrade, the old one which is still working fine has found a home with one of my daughters. The accompanying Shredder comes with three discs, and the blender which is great quality and is made of thermoSafe glass so you can use hot liquids. There are full instructions for the mixer, the shredder and blender have separate instruction booklets. The blender and shredder are colour coded so it’s very clear where they fit, Bosch have more attachments on their website. Using the mixer to make bread dough is a doddle and once it’s starts to knead I set the timer and it gets on with the job, there’s no bouncing around on the counter top either, the silicone beater is better as it means it’s more efficient at keeping the mixture from coating the side of the bowl, the whisk I’ve used to whisk cream so far and mascarpone cheese. There are 7 speeds, my only quibble is the dough hook, silicone beater and whisk can be a bit fiddly to attach as they go in at an angle. Apart from that I’m very happy. I opted for the 1500 watt model and though it’s a considered purchase I feel for me it’s worth it. There isn’t a recipe book there are 2 or 3 recipes in the instructions, and so far any video reviews I’ve managed to find are not in English, but it’s easy to see from these how the machine performs. The instructions are clear as to which parts may go into the dishwasher, I won’t be doing that as dishwashers are too abrasive. The short video I’ve now added just demonstrates how well the mixer copes with yeast dough.
Update I made carrot cake in this mixer, I connected the shredder to the top of the arm and finely grated the carrots and chopped the walnuts straight into the bowl while the whisk blended everything together at the same time. Love my mixer.

Very versatile machine can do most jobs well. Used it for blending, mixing and grating so far it did all great.
Very good product useful at home, for all baking, kneading dough, cutting vegetables.
It’s not bad for the price. Dont forget it will take good space of your worktops and storage to keep the accesorries. Also it’s too big if you want to bake small cakes
I have a very small kitchen, literally too small to swing a cat. I love baking and cooking and was looking for a new stand mixer, I have a Kenwood Chef which is about 15 years old and still works perfectly but it lives in the garage as it is much too big and heavy for my kitchen, and being an OAP I can’t be lugging it in and out of the garage everytime I want to bake, so consequently I have done very little baking over the last four or five years.
I did lots of research and found the Bosch Mum5 with a 1000w motor which is strong enough to do what I want and compact enough to sit permanently on my counter top (where it will get used!!) The mixer is a stylish anthrocite and silver colour and comes with a stainless steel 3.9lt bowl. There is a zipper bag which contains a whisk, a dough hook and a beater for cake batter. It also comes with a plastic splatter lid, which is a bonus as it stops the flour or icing sugar from flying everywhere. There is a citrus juicer, a mincer, a grater attachment with 3 different blades and a liquidiser. I was lucky enough to get it during the Black Friday week and it was quite a bit cheaper than it is currently being sold for which was a bonus.
I bought an additional white plastic bowl as I find it is sometimes handy to have a second bowl on hand, especially if you are making more than 1 cake at a time. I also bought the accessory set for chopping nuts, herbs etc which I have found to be really good.
I have used my mixer to make various biscuits and cakes in the month I have had it and found that it is a good solid machine. It iappears to be well made and looks really good, taking up very little space on the counter top. I have not had my mixer for long, but I am very pleased with the performance so far and it appears to be a good quality machine which I will hopefully be using for years to come. I have just ordered the dust cover to protect my mixer when not in use, not that it is going to spend too much time covered up 🙂
I will update my review in a couple of months after I have had more use out of it, but so far I am very happy with my mixer and the attachments I bought.

Amazing product! I use it every week and enjoy every time. Very easy to use. Washes momentarily, And doesn’t take much space.
The machine is great, I purchased mine in Aug and it has been utilized in every which way. It is a great help in the kitchen.
HOWEVER please know that my MINCER attachment is dangerously defective. It’s coating is coming off, please see video. So it’s on with Amazon returns now.
If you do purchase one of these, please check your parts to avoid poisoning your family.
I’ve been using my Bosch machine for about 4-6 weeks now and am very happy with it. The unit is well-designed and certainly looks prettier than some of its competitors. The rotating arm gives the unit a good degree of flexibility for the various assortment of additions you can use.
The whisk/paddle/kneading hook are all very good — although I did find the whisk left a little area untouched without some manual intervention (the unit can be calibrated). The unit dealt with some fairly heavy doughs without issue, although it does flex and move a fair bit, it held together well and the little sucker feet kept the unit steady.
The citrus juicer and blender both made short work of anything I tried to put through — particularly like the large citrus container. The lack of a more refined juicer (like a masticator) is a shame but not a deal-breaker.
On the downside, the mincer and the rotary slicer performance was pretty mediocre. The mincer failed to get through chicken thighs as the fat twisted around the parts and mincer, meaning the nozzles were quickly blocked. The rotary slicer performance was also very variable — you’ll need to be extremely careful what sort of fruit/veg you put through it. Another quirk is the requirement to use the supplied bowl — to the point that certain functions, such as the citrus juicer, won’t function without it connected to the unit.
Overall though, I’m happy — it is a versatile, well-built kitchen machine with a range of uses.

Brilliant machine just to small for my personal use ! Shame as i really would have loved to have this machine in a bigger size !
Great design and functionality, good for heavy bread dough.
Brilliant for whipping.
Suction feet really grip the work top to ensure that the mixer stays pu
Very good mixer, the only issue is that it controls all attachments and if you put something wrong it will not switch on – that’s OK, but if someone who didn’t read the manual uses it, I’m being called. Lets say that the learning curve is steep for such type of an appliance.
Have now had this product for a month or so. Very impressed. In particular, having made cake, bread dough, pasta dough, mayonnaise and meringue, these have all come out as good as hand-made (in the case of mayo, slightly better).
I used the mincer attachment for the first time recently, and that worked brilliant also.
Yes it is expensive, and yes the lack of a “large blender” might bring limitations, but the mixing bowl is fantastic and all the tools work exceptionally well. Highly recommended.
Working well, box battered and a bit broken off a non important plastic cover but as I got it for a great knock down price from amazons used warehouse and it’s got all the accessories you could want I’m well pleased with it.
I’m tempted to 3* this.. but it really is an excellent mixer. Only the entire chasis twists and bends when in use with a dough hook.. im not impressed by that, and bosch really have made this do too much, sacrificing strength IMO
I am very pleased with the mixer. I am gradually buying the accessories. The only disappointment I have is that a DVD which comes with it gives some recipes but I don’t think that is good enough. I have searched for a recipe book just to give me an idea on how to use it and have found the book The Food Mixer Cookbook by Norma Miller. Although not ideal, it helps.
I received this machine on Friday and decided the weekend was handy to try it. I have made smoothies already and it’s worked perfectly. I also made a cake, the machine works superbly. It’s fairly quiet, it doesn’t move even at its highest power and it mixes everything perfectly. My next attempt is cutting vegetables tonight. I’m in love with it and it’s been renamed Boris. Haha
Made my life easier – excellent additional tool for my kitchen, could have done with some more additional grating, chopping blades for this price
This is a terrific machine! I bought it to replace a Kenwood Multipro which had a low wattage motor and frankly struggled with most tasks. The Bosch handles a 2lb. Bread mix with ease, shreds and grates veg, liquidises soups, minces etc with no effort. It has a small footprint, so I can leave it permanently on the work surface in the kitchen – the attachments are cleverly designed to pack away so that they take up one shelf in a 60cm kitchen cupboard – the machine that it replaced performed exactly the same functions and took up a great deal more space. In fact, one of my daughters reckons that my machine does the same as her battery of food prep machinery, and if she switched, she would practically regain a whole cupboard! I have tried very hard to find a genuine “niggle” about this machine – truly, I cannot find one. Money well spent!
My first posting was not complimentary, a vital component sheered on first use. There was a delay with the original replacement however, it is worth the wait. I have for many years wanted to own the very best machine that I could afford. The Bosch MUM59340GB is amazing it every aspect. It quietly and efficiently does all that is required. The power is obvious, omitting no more than a gentle hum whilst whizzing through tasks.
I am looking forward to playing, I mean using it for many years.
Amazon chat has to be thanked for taking my concerns seriously and ensuring that the second replacement arrived on time.
I wanted to say that I loved it after spending so much money, however, the first time used one of the main components snapped which means I cannot use the shredder attachment. I do not want to return it but will need a replacement part so have no other option. very disappointed. I will accept a replacement and hope that the same thing does not happen again. If all goes well with the replacement, I will re-post more favourable comments or damn it for forever. Watch this space.
The Bosch MUM59340GB Kitchen Machine, 1000 W, 3.9 L is a very sleek and stylish looking piece of kitchen kit. It is a massive amount of machine and accessories — when it first arrived I realised it was too big practically for our small kitchen, so I had to redesign the kitchen to make more space so that we can now comfortably use the machine. It comes with 10 accoutrements including slicers, shredders, graters, liquidiser/blender, mincing, a dough hook and citrus press attachments. Everything is easy to fit and simple to use, easy to clean and the whole machine reeks of quality materials. My mother got a similar machine in 1966 and it’s still going strong today. I expect my family will be using this new machine for many years and there will now be much more creativity and baking in our kitchen.
Bosch MUM59340GB Kitchen Machine, 1000 W, 3.9 L in Silver/Anthracite
For over 40 years we have used a Kenwood Chef that has never failed, In fact the only item ever to be replaced was the glass bowl – with a stainless steel version. That is quite a record for a mixer so given the opportunity to try the latest from Bosch gave us a direct comparison with what was considered to be the market leader.
The Bosch machine arrived in a rather large box but once opened it was easy to see why this was called a “kitchen machine” rather than a food mixer. This is a full package of machine and accessories – most of which are all you will ever need. Yes other attachments are available but what is in the box covers virtually all the operations you will undertake on a regular basis (and a few for not so regular use – it just depends what you want to do).
The first thing you notice is the very modern design of the main machine – compact and really smart. It is not heavy and can be easily lifted with one hand. It sits securely on the work top courtesy of large rubber feet. These keep it in place when working but do not restrict movement when you want to lift it to another place.
The package (for that is what this is) includes – the main machine, a stainless steel mixing bowl (3.9 litres usable capacity), a clear plastic splash guard,3 beaters – a silicone sided creamer (more of this later), a whisk and a dough hook, a mincer, a blender, a juicer, a slicer/grater with various discs, an accessory bag for the beaters and discs, a comprehensive instruction book and a disc that adds information and a nice package of recipes. That is quite a list of extras that some rival manufactures do not include. Yes they are available to purchase as “add-on’s” but here Bosch are giving you a full package not just the mixer. These attachments could add another 100 or so to buy so when making a comparison by price, it is advisable to make sure it is taken into account..
The working head lifts back through 45 deg. by means of a simple button on the top and beaters can be added or changed. The bowl locks securely in place by means of a slight turn and we are ready to add our ingredients. The unit has a 1000 watt motor which makes it powerful enough to do all the jobs in a quick and efficient manner. This appears to be only exceeded by much more expensive models and “industrial” kitchen machines. It will also ensure that the machine is never over worked and will thus last for many years. The power cable and plug are located at the back and the cable has automatic rewind and when not in use is housed totally inside the casing. There is a clear plastic splash guard that can be fitted to the top of the bowl with the head down and incorporates a convenient aperture to allow gradual addition of ingredients as required.
The mixing action is very effective in that it does not work in a circle as many do. Bosch call this the 3D Multi Motion Drive and it works in an elliptical path round the bowl- looks a bit strange like a figure of eight but it works well. With the silicone sided beater/creamer that virtually touches the sides of the bowl, it ensures ALL the ingredients are mixed properly and quickly.
The three beaters and the discs for the slicer/grater are stored in a convenient circular zip bag which fits neatly inside the bowl when not in use. The attachments work well (although we have not used the mincer yet) and are ideal for shredding items for salads or cutting and blending to make your own soups. The motor has 7 speeds available which also cover every eventuality making this a really useful package for the modern kitchen..
Quality is the usual Bosch standard – excellent and reliable but they really score big with the design of this unit – modern and compact and once out of the box you realise how it fits into such a small space. That means you don’t have to put is away in a cupboard like some of the bigger units. You can keep it handy on the worktop, ready for use and thus you will get more benefit from it’s convenience. All the Bosch parts are dishwasher safe although a quick rinse after use in warm water means it can be made ready for the next time quickly and easily.
Top quality and design, a great package that includes most of what you will need, competitively priced for a comprehensive package – yes this Bosch is highly recommended. Our trusty Kenwood has served us well for over four decades but it has now been relegated to store as the Bosch is much more convenient to use. A true 5 star.
This is a very impressive, useful and well-designed piece of apparatus. What is immediately obvious are the build quality of the machine and the size. Be aware that it does require a significant work space and an area for storage of accessories. It has a powerful motor and the mixer is very efficient indeed. I like how the cable can be stored and that there is a bag included for handy storage of accessories. The machine has rubber suction feet which make the machine stable when in use. There is a wide range of accessories which make this effectively a food processor and probably the only kitchen machine you will need. These include a citrus press, blender and mincer. It has a robust and attractive appearance finished in silver/anthracite. The parts can be cleaned in a dishwasher. It is highly recommended.
brilliant little machine – although first impressions are that this is a massive kitchen appliance as the box is huge.
Once unpacked and on the worktop it’s actually quite compact and shouts quality – I think this has every accessory you could need – including a mincer which is actually missing from some Bosch food mixers further up the price range.
In use the rubber feet stop it moving and the arm swings up and out of the bowl with a very easy action. Although we’ve barely used this so far we have had the use of a very similar one that I purchased as a gift last year and after a solid 12 months use that one still looks and operates like new. The various shredding and mixing attachments cover just about every requirement that most bake-off wannabes could ever want.
For us it makes perfect yorkshire pudding batter mixture!
We’ve used the blender the most which is brilliant for shakes and smoothies and easy to clean.
Overall this item just shouts quality and looks great even when not in use.
This is a very stylish compact machine in black and brushed stainless steel. It has so many gadgets that it can make and prepare many different types of food. Apart from the food mixer, which has a whisk, dough hook and paddle, there is a blender, juicer, mincer and a continuous-feed shredder. These are attached onto the swivel arm which is easily moved into the appropriate position for each one. There are 5 discs for a variety of grating, shredding and slicing and these along with the tools are contained within a very strong bag. The three tools used in the stainless steel bowl move in a way that takes all of the ingredients off the side so that you don’t have to keep scraping them in. The dough hook makes a great job of kneading what by hand can be a hard job. The whisk makes a lovely cake mix and whipped cream among other things. The blender makes liquidising soup, for instance, very smooth. I haven’t used the other gadgets yet but going by the quality and ease of use in what I have done so far I know that they will be just as good. Because of the way the attachments fit onto the arm in different positions it takes less space than some other appliances and in a small kitchen this is a real bonus. I think this is a wonderful appliance that I will use a lot.

This is excellent all round. The unit is well made and sturdy and will give many years of use. It feels solid and well thought-out. All the attachments are of good quality and easy to fit and use. Cleaning is made easy as all of the part are streamlined and clean easily.
Using.

Handed this over to my cake making wife to do the user test.
The mixer is quick, controllable and reasonable quiet. All of the attachments fit well mad the mincer is brilliant. The main mixer has quite a small foot print for what it does. The feet grip the worktop and the unit never moves or vibrates that much in use.
This unit replaces many standalone kitchen devices and everything is of first class quality. As an avid cake maker this unit is a dream and miles better than my old hand mixer. It is now one of the most used items in my kitchen and all the other separate mixers, juicers and mincers have been relegated to the charity shop box.
Over all I am very happy with the design, operation and flexibility of this mixer. It replaces a lot of kitchen gadgets in one unit and therefore saves a lot of worktop space.
Overall.

Versatile, well made and a joy to use. Probably the only kitchen gadget you will ever need. Being Bosch it’s also a high quality item that should last years.
This lovely Bosch MUM5 is a spectacular piece of kit. It is a masterpiece of engineering and design – does just about everything you could want – apart from tucking you up in bed with a cup of tea – and it looks beautiful while it’s doing it.
It comes in an enormous box, with an amazing range of attachments. The machine itself is actually relatively small, taking up little room on the bench top. Had to find a bit of shelf space for the other bits though, but it is worth it. Along with the mixing function – which is amazing, because it’s at an angle and runs in an elliptical circuit around the bowl, missing nothing – there is also: a blender, a mincer, a slicer/julienne attachment, and a citrus juicer. And, despite being so different in shape and function, the amazing, compact design allows each one to work beautifully and easily. They attach to the top, underneath, at the back or the front. Press a button and the mixing head moves and can be positioned where you need it, attach the right gizmo and you’re off. You need to look at the instructions first, which are mostly visual and really well done – but once you know, it is obvious and intuitive. It even has a retractable cord! There are other attachments that can be bought separately as well – it is almost a complete kitchen in one piece of equipment. Along with the paper info and little booklets with info and instructions, there is also a lovely DVD-ROM full of information and lush recipes – which works on both Windows and Mac.
I have had no trouble at all using the blender (fits on the top) or the juicer (also on the top), they were great. And this afternoon I used the mixer to make some pizza dough – it worked beautifully. I cannot fault it – it is brilliant.
When I was growing up, my mother did everything by hand. She used to spend hours in the kitchen, turning out amazing food. But she would have loved to have one of these little beauties, they are stunning.
I’ve always been a big fan of Bosch. I’ve got a workshop full of Bosch power tools and they’ve never disappointed me. “When in doubt, buy Bosch” has been my approach. But I’ve never had any experience of a Bosch kitchen appliance. Would the quality and performance be as good? Well, I’m pleased to say the answer is very much a “yes”.
The first thing for me to talk about with this unit is the appearance. With such a large appliance it’s not going to be practical to have it live in a cupboard and get it out each time you want to use it. So it really needs to look good or have a cover. The Bosch has no cover, which might be a disappointment, except that it looks really smart. In a contemporary kitchen it will look very elegant, and the silver and grey finish shouldn’t clash with any colour scheme. I think it looks great in our kitchen.
The main design feature of the Bosch is the arm, which can be swiveled into position for mixing or using the blender and other attachments. I think this is a clever idea and enables the unit to be a little more compact yet adaptable. In use it feels very sturdy and well made, so I’ve no doubt that, like my experience of other Bosch products, this will be reliable and stand up to a lot of use.
Our first use was as a mixer, which is probably the use to which it will be most often put. In this capacity is performs faultlessly. The beating follows an elliptical design, and coupled with the shape of the high quality stainless bowl, it ensures that all of the ingredients are thoroughly mixed. It is also very quiet in operation. It is supplied with a range of beater attachments and there’s also a handy cover for the bowl to prevent your kitchen from accidentally being showered in flour. I’ve also tested the dough hook and again, it works extremely well, quickly gathering the ingredients into a bowl ready for kneading.
The unit comes with blender, processor and mincer attachments. We’ve only tested the processor attachment thus far, and it has performed very well. I’ve always been a little wary of multi-function devices; they often tend to be pretty good at a range of things but not excellent at any one in particular. However, on this occasion I can’t find fault. If you only want to have one kitchen appliance rather than a cupboard full, then I really do think this could be the one.
This is a really good mixer, offered at a very competetive price, and providing a great deal of bang for buck while retaining the usual Bosch brand qualities of high build quality and attractive and innovative design. The machine itself feels solid, sturdy and well made and sits firmly in place when in use. The mixing movement and attachments work really well and the silicone bladed mixing attachment does a great job of mixing thoroughly and getting all of the mix from the sides of the stainless steel mixing bowl. Trials with cakes have produced excellent results. The motor seems to be sufficiently powered (rated at 1000W) which is a step-up from some older Bosch models still on sale. Supplied accessories are numerous and some are included (e.g. juicer and mincer) that are often left out of rival manufacturer’s packages and instead sold as extras – well done Bosch ! I like the way the mixing arm lifts up – it’s a nice ergonomic touch. In terms of aesthetics, it looks very smart and modern. Recommended !
Arrived in a huge box that was alarmingly heavy but once you unpack it, it’s actually not monstrous at all but actually a thing of beauty.
I remember using my mum’s old Kenwood Chef, and this is so much nicer than that.
First test was clearly going to be my favourite chocolate cake.
The rubberised feet mean this isn’t going to move around at all on your work surface, the top raises for inserting attachments with the touch of a button, and the beater was simple to attach.
What really impressed me was that the elliptical pattern that the beater moves through, combined with the shape of the bowl, ensures that the ingredients were thoroughly mixed and there was no residual mix around the edged that needed to be scraped back into the middle to recombine with the rest of the mix.
Also really pleased to find that it’s not particularly noisy either.
I blended a strawberry and banana smoothie effortlessly, fantastic! And also had no problems juicing oranges.
This is definitely a gadget that will stay out of the cupboard in permanent residence on the counter, and get a lot of use, just as well it looks so stylish! Another nice touch is the storage bag provided for the discs and attachments, and a recipe DVD if you need some inspiration!
Easy to clean, and really well built, I’m in love with it already!
Oh, and the chocolate cake was really light and moist!!!
I have used a Kenwood Chef for years so it was interesting to compare this machine. At first look, the Bosch is much more swishy and modern looking than my base model Chef. Opening the box reveals a lot of bits and ther e is everything here you may need for kitchen prep.I suppose if you were thinking of a comparable Chef it would be more the Titanium model with the processor attachment and blender, which is a similar price.
The asymmetric design with the release button on the left is interesting and I found it easy to use, tho left handers may differ. When the button is pressed, the head can rotate up and down to position the various power outlets for beaters, blender and slicer attachments; this works nicely and it is simple to attach the parts.
The beater, whisk and dough hook are stored in a neat zip nylon case which fits into the bowl. This is a nice touch and saves clutter. It took a while for me to work out what the plastic bit was in the case but I eventually identified it as the dough deflector which fits the hook to stop yeast doughs climbing the spindle.
I started with a simple sponge cake mix; the beater fits at a slightly odd angle (for a Chef user) and the bowl has a domed base so the rotating beater does not miss any mixture. This worked well, with the flat silicone edged beater it was a doddle to cream the butter and sugar. If anything I think mixing in the eggs was a littel easier than the Chef, it certainly didnt curdle and resulted in a light pale batter. I folded in the flour with the beater on slow. This is not a noisy machine and the speed control knob on the right side feels solid and responsive.
The finished cake was equal to anything the Chef makes.
I then went on to make a (rather dull) vegetable soup to test the blender. It’s a good shape, tall and narrow, and gave an excellent quick result. I cleaned it by filling with hot water and Fairy and giving it a whoosh, before rinsing it thoroughly in the sink. On balance I think this is a better design than the Chef though it’s close.
I have dismantled and tested the slicer/shredder part but not yet used it in a recipe. All parts feel sturdy and well designed; I was surprised to find that the machine is made in Slovenia and not China (unusual these days).
If you are looking at a Chef, this is well worth considering as an alternative. It is a more compact shape and may take up less of your cupboard space, though of course ideally it needs to be out on the worktop ready. I havent yet found a cover to fit this so may well make my own; an idea for Bosch in future perhaps? I trust the Bosch brand name having had other appliances of theirs in the past, and the 2 year guarantee is reassuring.
