You really can’t beat this unit for ease of use, features, or sound quality. True, some of the effects aren’t quite exactly like the vintage analog boxes they emulate, but it’s surprising how close they actually get. And most of the dozens of effects you can choose from are stellar. The internal routing is well thought out as well, with copies of some effects showing up in other areas just in case you want your phaser in front of your distortion. Very cool and compact, I feel like I’ve only scratched the surface after a couple of weeks. I especially like how in “manual” mode, it’s like having eight discrete pedals at once, with all the controls just where you’d expect them with ZERO menu diving!

This has so much to play with! Though the learning curve is a little steep. Well, maybe not that bad, but there is a lot to absorb. Perfect for my tiny home studio and so much neater than my old pedal setup with all those patch cables and power cables….. I imagine that once you get a feel for how it works it would be great during Live performances too. Only thing I found lacking so far is that you have to use the headphone jack as the line out to recording equipment instead of dedicated outputs for both.

I wanted to be able to get some nice tones from my Fender Strat and Marshall and this does the trick. I like the loop option and the built in tuner. It seems like a well built product and I’m only really beginning to learn it’s capabilities

I’m a beginner with a guitar and a cheap marshal amp. I wanted to experiment with pedal fx and also connect my guitar to my computer. It seems like this thing has almost every pedal ever made built in to it. It’s made by Boss. If history is any indicator, and if this thing lasts, I’m sure it’ll retain more value than most other multi effect digital pedals. Is it 48Khz? no, it’s 44.1. is it 24bit yes. so, it’s not as good sampling ratewise as a USB interface, but, it’s also an actual pedal. If I cared more and wanted to spend more money I’d have bought the higher end units. For me as a beginner, still learning and curious this was the perfect thing. To be clear, I’d already bought and returned a Behringer USB interface as well as a Focusrite. Neither were fantastic. This thing is Fantastic, for guitar. One thing though, it’s handy to find a way to deal with the ground loop somehow in order to quiet the USB interface when playing out through an separate amp.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is by far the best value of any Boss product I’ve seen or used as a guitar player of 5 or so years. You have no need for any pedals or even an amp with this multi-fx. I 100% recommend this to any players who need a stomp box setup and don’t want to go all out on a custom pedal board. Great sound, through headphones or an amp, and very easy to set up. My only complaint is that activating the expression pedal is a little weird since there doesn’t seem to be a button to click down (like on a crybaby wah) but in theory you would have it set up before a performance so this is no big deal.

    It’s a brilliant pedal
You can use it in front of your favourite amp or Chuck a dummy headphone cable in (turns on Cab sim) and go direct into a FRFR PA system.

Only problem is the tuner is slow to engage, but looking past that, it’s as good as many current multi Fx and Built like
Tank and ready for the road.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI love this thing. Truly. Every control is right there, easily adjusted, easily triggered on and off, and the memory preset saves remember everything. In manual mode, experimenting and/or tweaking is WAY easier than a menu-driven system.

It runs on batteries or from a wall wart, so it’s easily portable.

It seems to be very quiet, the only thing I noticed is that when the compressor/expander is running at its highest gain, there is some noise, but it’s unclear to me if that’s coming from the pedal, or just the ambient noise from the instrument. In any case, it’s an edge case and I don’t consider it a serious issue.

The quality of the effects are very high – that’s key here. It’s not just convenient, it makes great output.

I’ve been playing electric rock and blues for 50 years as I write this, and this is easily the best f/x system I’ve used to date. Highly recommended.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI am an intermediate guitar player. I enjoy playing many different types of music. This multi effects pedal allows me to emulate nearly any sound I need, and it is very easy to use. Plus, you can easily take it on the road and use it as a headphone amp, or play it into a small, Bluetooth speaker via aux input and play anywhere you are with minimal gear and big sound.
I only gave it 4 stars for ease of use because it can be frustrating at first learning what buttons do what. I am sure a more experience player will not face these same frustrations.

Anyway, I intend to keep this Boss GT-1 for a long time. It does so many things well and makes it easy to plug in and play into headphones without disturbing the family. That alone is worth the modest investment.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersI started out using Marshall stacks like anyone else duking it out in the rock scene in the 80s. I also played Boss pedals starting way back when. For me, Boss was always the standard for excellence, from their various distortion pedals to chorus, flange, delay, etc. What I love about the GT series is the full-on amp models they contain, along with classic Boss pedal tones. This thing is just chock full of goodness. I play it through the headphones when I don’t want to bother the family, or when the coast is clear I plug it directly into a Roland Cube and it just sounds amazing. In my experience all Boss and Roland products work great together because Roland owns Boss and makes sure of that. I have also run the GT-1 through the front of stacks and it gives you a whole new dimension. The built-in noise gate is also very effective. If you’re looking for a great value and don’t want to bust the bank the GT-1 is the answer. It’s amazing.

Quindi, in conclusione…

Bought this when I was just shopping around for a new budget pedal and I’m blown away. From the get go, the tones are great, and if you’re not satisfied with the base tones, the customisation is incredible. Only drawback is the USB and power adapter aren’t included, however don’t go blowing money on a new one if you already have a 9V adapter kicking around (Boss wants you to spend more for nothing).

Already used this at a gig and the sound was incredible. Hook it up to the PA or just a bog standard amp and play away.

Bought this as Boss are great value and good quality products. The size was a factor too as i live on a narrowboat so space is always an issue. There are more usable effects patches on this than most units and can inspire your playing. Recommended

The Boss GT-1 is arguably the best guitar processor available at this price point! Checked out tones of reviews before buying it and
Solid build quality, looks and feels premium and is super easy to use. The built-in tones are awesome and really convenient to customise.
Slightly disappointed that the looper is only 32 seconds, but does the job in most cases.
Incredibly portable as it works in battery and DC both.

If you’re looking for an easy to use guitar processor which comes with an the bells and whistles, has great build quality, offers amazing collection of legendary tones and is super portable, look no further. At around INR18000 before discounts, this is a steal!

Kudos to the seller for a smooth and timely delivery.

    Boss GT-1 is epic!

Looks and feels like a quality product. The presets can be a bit hardcore and the expression pedal is normally assigned to volume rather than an effect. With a little patience however it is easy to amend the settings to find some really useful tones for most types of music. A Looper and tuner are both useful inclusions. There are a couple of very useful organ tones in the presets that can be used to set up a backing track. The compressor is a bit overused in the presets. I normally either reduce it or tone it down. Boss has some useful you tube videos explaining how to use and program the unit.

Overall very happy with the sounds, flexibility and price

Easy to use. It tends to get through batteries fast. The instructions said the set of batteries will not last and they didn’t last but the second set lasted only a few hours. Get the power pack for it at the same time.

Replacement for my old ME50 foot pedal, I’m still getting familiar with all the effects but very pleased so far. Massive range of effects and I particularly like how flexible it is. The 36 pre-programmed effects seem good and there is still capacity to programme another 36 user effects. A big step up from the ME50 and I think designed for the working musician. Good value too.

Great multi fx. Much easier to use than menu driven multifx. Currently using with band through a valve engl head. Not used at a gig yet but rehearsals going well. I use on manual mode so it acts as a pedal board. Great unit.

Excellent value for money. Great features as you’d expect from Boss, but in a tiny package. This even uses Boss ToneBank like it’s big brothers, so you can update and edit tones and patches via a laptop. It sounds amazing – and has a looper! The only thing I miss from using more expensive pedals is a metronome, but for this money, it’s not a deal-breaker.

I can’t add much more to the general view that this is a great sounding piece of kit. The interface is probably a bit dated now but editing on the computer is obvious in this instance and pretty straightforward.
Caution, this is certainly for Desktop use, not for gigs or rehearsals. Or do so at your peril. I say this because while the build quality is ok for its intended use, unlike other Boss floor units this is not built like a tank. It would be unlikely to survive falling out of a gigbag onto a concrete floor, and don’t even think about inadvertently stepping on it. I might be sounding a little tough but even the knobs aren’t up to usual Boss quality.
But overall I’m happy with it. It does what it says on the tin. Just don’t let it out clubbing!

So you need a power adapter also and a second guitar cable. For 200$+ you’d think they’d throw a little one foot guitar cable and a cheap power supply in. That being said, it’s definitely fun. I haven’t updated it yet but I really enjoy the modern metal setting and the acoustic simulator that comes on vanilla software. It’s almost pointless to get these now a days when you can get a few cables and just use a DAW and a good speaker but it’s nice for couch use or if I wanted to go somewhere (I have a desktop not a laptop). The wah pedal is a little tricky to set up but if you follow video guides you’ll be fine. The wah pedal (or “expression pedal” or whatever it’s called) is also my major reason behind getting this. You can add wah over any setting and it sounds fantastic in most cases. If you’re not against buying used things, a used wah pedal for 60$ would honestly be just as much fun of a buy as this and save 140$. Or spend like an extra 30$ on plug-ins for a daw and get majority of the good sounds this offers and still save 110$ lol.

    Consigliatissima!

I’ve been playing for a year and a half just through my amp and wanted to try out some effects. I didn’t really know what I wanted to try so I decided to buy this effects board and the sounds it are amazing. I ran it through my marshall combo amp on the clean channel which is all you need as the effects provide enough overdrive etc. that you don’t need the dirty channel. Anyone who has played for a while probably knows this but thought it was useful for beginners to know. There are many presets using different effects like distortion, flange and reverb and it’s really fun and easy to use to find out what kind of sounds you like.
