    Runs well on ps5, one of the better games from Call of Duty of recent times.

    Relatively pleased with the story line it made for a good game. Do feel the call of duty games are starting to feel a little repetitive in the sense of the games missions being similar in their general play out. Still it kept me interested. Much prefer the past based COD’s by far, non of that jumping off wall to wall like a spice head Chris Brown. One thing I do find disappointing with the new ps5 set up/Cod is having to spend so much time downloading the game, gone are the days of buying a game for the actual game. Definitely more focused on the online retail side of it now which I can understand from a business/revenue stand point but it’s a sad time for my generation who grew up playing video games for the game and not having to pay to play at an enjoyable level (online) still worth a bash if you prefer the old school COD’s

    Graphics are great on the ps5, the detail is superb. It’s cod so the single player doesn’t last long and the multi player is carnage most of the time, infuriating at times brilliant when you get on a roll. It’s not going to change gaming forever but it’s entertaining nonetheless

    Graphics guns and gaming it self it’s good but the very very big minus is how to re spam after dying and the tacticals, trowing granates, molotovs are toooo much and make the game chaotic and nothing to do with realistic old fashion war game

    The campaign is really good the zombies isnt brilliant and online multiplayer is good overall the maps are all decent to be fair but the 1 main thing that is a let down is the prestige system is awful and should of being 10 to 15 prestige not doing it in seasons sometimes you feel like your just not getting anywhere but on the whole its not that bad it still a half decent call of duty hope this is helpful to people that are buying it.

    Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersCall of Duty Vanguard is in my opinion the prime example of a game that should be classed as a ‘diamond in the rough’.

    So the yearly drop comes and we’ve been fished out a World War II title by Sledgehammer and co, the final product that CoDWWII ended up being is again in my opinion one of the better Call of Duty titles.

    The campaign is the usual mash up of stealth and action based levels with very little innovation or effort really directed towards really bringing out a nice juicy story or developing characters for you to get to know. This being the attempt AT doing exactly that according to the creators as CoD has no memorable characters apparently.? Really? Soap and Price would like a word.

    The levels are well detailed and so are the guns, the graphics possibly being the best Call of Duty has had to date for the most part, though I still hand it to MW19 for weapon aesthetics and sounds.
    The characters posses unique abilities, none are overly interesting or feel fun to use, rather a mechanic that is simply there to flesh it out a bit.

    Polinka (the Russian sniper) arguably sports the more fun missions as you get to scale roof tops and the such, it feels more personal, than the rest at least.

    But let’s be honest, you’re probably reading this for the multiplayer.
    So far I’ve got to admit Multiplayer is where the fun is at, don’t fall for the usual band wagon hate, it’s a good laugh and the movement, weapon mechanics all feel great. TTK (time to kill) is quick, so take that for your own decision.
    Maps are plentiful and I have to say I enjoy all of them to different degrees.

    Plenty of guns to level and attachments to unlock – though I strongly believe the attachments themselves could have done with a bit more though and customisation to playstyle, beyond a certain point all you’re unlocking is new sights for a gun. This is World War II era for crying out loud.

    Touching on this – if you’re after any form of authenticity, can’t stand the idea of CoD chucking some red dot sights on WWII guns, then this probably isn’t the title for youbut as above, I’m having a lot of fun, the pace per match is brilliant.

    Usual CoD pass is back, as expected, MVP at the end of the match picks three players who excelled at certain feats, you can vote who is the ‘true’
    MVP though in my experience most just vote for the most multikills.

    SBMM isn’t to aggressive in my experience and for the vast majority I bought it because I enjoy CoD Multiplayer, as much as I hate to admit it, this stale old formula I’ve been playing since CoD4 is still as addictive to me because simply put.no one else offers it.

    Zombies is a bit of a mixed bag at the minute, I’m not a huge zombies nut, thoroughly enjoyed Outbreak and Cold Wars iteration though. This one takes your usual zombies round based combat, with perks that can be upgraded and pack a punch, then chucks the outbreak style, defend, collect and so on. Rinse repeat to earn dosh, upgrade, zap hordes of zombies with a laser gun. What’s not to love?

    So take it for what it’s worth and make your own decision, do I think it’s worth 60? For me yes as I’ll be playing it till the next drop, the hours per quid just make sense to me.

    TLDR
    So why 8/10? Why diamond in the rough?
    With some good patching and buffs/nerfs I can’t see why this wouldn’t be a solid title, it’s fun, hectic and offers a nice solid CoD paced multiplayer. It’s changed a few things here and there, but ultimately this is a CoD title so don’t expect any real innovation – expect a season pass, because it’s got one.

    I had no intention of buying COD this year as Cold War was poor in my opinion but when I learnt it was WWII based I was willing to give it a try. I’m really glad I did! It feels like a good old classic Call of Duty game. Lots of maps which are mostly up to standard and visually the game is fantastic especially on next gen. It’s actually fun to play which is the most important thing. Game of the year for me.

    In my opinion this is one of my favourite CODs since BO2 days by far

    Pros:

    * Impressive graphics
    * Multiplayer is fun
    * Most diverse COD game I’ve seen in a while
    * Champion Hill mode is so fun and not many toxic people play it

    Cons:

    * Campaign is very short
    * Repetitive gameplay
    * Not many maps
    * Not many good guns (My favourite guns are the STG-44 and MP-40)

    Definitely worth the money its a must buy if you like first person shooters and the fact its WWII

    I was very hesitant about this one, the multiplayer alpha was pretty awful and the beta not much better, so I waited until very near the release date and decided on the basis of a campaign and zombies I’d give it a go.

    I found the campaign really entertaining, the story had a proper start, middle and end. Which with call of duty franchise makes a change, in previous call of duty campaigns especially black ops they’ve tried to get too clever, dream sequences, on drugs, double and triple crosses and even in someone’s head playing an inception like level as the battlefield folds in on its self! It’s nice to play a campaign where you don’t need to Google it afterwards for an explanation. Harked back to world at war a little bit in my opinion.

    The campaign I estimate to be about 8-10 hours, I played through on veteran and there were a few challenging moments, graphically it looks stunning on the PS5, load times very quick as well. If you are a trophy hunter there are a handful of challenging trophies, I’m still 3 or 4 away from the platinum – no spoilers though.

    As for zombies I quite like it, I think it’s growing on me the more I play. Rather than the previous complex Easter eggs that take hours to complete it has more of a quick play element to it. You can now now collectively agree to evacuate after 5 rounds which can encourage quicker games.

    In zombies you start in an area surrounded by different portals, the portal have primarily three different modes – Blitz: time based survival, Harvest: collect certain number of items to complete level and lastly Transport: you guide and object around a map getting points for being close to it, when it reaches destination round ends.

    These levels change constantly and will be different after each zombies round, with harvest and transport you can choose not to do the objective for infinite zombies, people do this early on to get more points for weapons upgrades.

    After doing the initial ports in the starting area the starting map is opened up and different zombies ranging in difficult will spawn in to the start area after each round. The packer punch is immediately available, perks exposed as you do more portals.

    Each perk initially is free and you don’t lose the free one when you go down and get revived, but you can buy each perk four times, these additional purchases can be lost, the quicker you are revived the less you lose like previous zombies games.

    You also have operators, some are characters from the campaign, others you just unlock through achievements and battle pass. If you have a favourite weapon try to pick the operator that uses it as a preferred weapon, this grants extra weapon and operator xp if you want to level up quickly.

    I can see over time they will add a lot more maps, currently some of the portal levels take you to zombies maps from cod world at war and cod ww2.

    Some abilities seen in Cold War zombies are still present in this version too, a shrine like area also provides additional power ups, using hearts you are awarded after each level.

    Multiplayer – tried it a few times and honestly I still don’t like it, spawn and get killed seems to be the mantra here, too many try hards with op load outs/weapons at the moment, I’ll try it in a few months when they’ve had chance to patch it and make it more balanced.

    Marked down a star for multiplayer, otherwise really enjoying itlet me know if you found this helpful and I’ll update over time as the game gets updated!

    Golden Review Award: 18 From Our UsersI’m going to break this down into Campaign, Multiplayer and Zombies so you can read dependent on what you would be buying this game for:

    Campaign – First thing you will notice when playing the campaign, it’s graphically beautiful. Using the same engine as 2019’s COD Modern Warfare, the realism is a treat for the eyes and it really is one of the high points of the entire game. The campaign focuses on a secret task force called “Vanguard”, made up of the top soldiers and marksmen/women from across the globe. The idea is good, but I personally felt the execution was a little bit underwhelming. The first mission focusses on an operation that Vanguard carry out related to a secret “Project Phoenix” that the enemy are developing. This is set in 1945 and this mission signals the last bit of gameplay with all the Vanguard members together until the final mission. The main story is solely told in cutscenes (with the exception of the first and last mission) and the rest of the missions are just backstories for each member. One backstory in particular (Polina) is extremely engaging and really makes you feel emotion for the character, however the rest seem to be lacking in any enthralling story as we have seen in previous games. It almost feels like you’re playing a prequel half of the time. I finished the campaign feeling like I had played Battlefield’s War Stories modes from I and V. It’s not an awful campaign but it’s far from the best. Also seemed remarkably easier than the likes of COD 4 and MW2 which I didn’t find welcoming since I like a challenging game with a captivating story but this is subjective. I would not recommend this to someone solely purchasing for the campaign.

    Multiplayer – This is where most of the change is seen. The maps are different in terms of layout to previous games, which is both a good thing and a bad thing, and they seem to be more varied and open in some cases. There are in my opinion, as always, good maps (Sub Pens, Numa Numa) and bad maps (Gavutu, Oasis) but this time round there seems to be a borderline unplayable map in Das Haus. The new pacing system allows for different size games on almost any map (6v6 10v10 16v16 24v24) and this applies to the smallest map in the game, Das Haus. 24v24 coupled with the severely broken spawning means that at times you are killed the second you spawn by spawning in front of an enemy, in the path of bullets or on the wrong side of the map at times. It’s okay on 6v6 or 10v10 but Activision and Sledgehammer seriously need to make changes to the spawning as a whole and pacing for different maps. However, the gameplay is solid as ever and still really fun to play and the addition of 2 remastered World at War maps are a treat (although Dome suffers what I like to call the “Das Haus Syndrome” in larger games) and show us that Activision still remembers WaW (remaster anybody?). Champion Hill is also a fun Last Man Standing game mode which really shakes it up a bit from the usual CoD modes.

    Zombies – I am one of the few who actually likes the Zombies mode, however it won’t be for everyone. There admittedly is no real story to it, just a trio of three different objectives (Blitz, Harvest and Transmit) which are repeated over and over again as you kill zombies to complete them. These get repetitive easily when playing solo but aren’t too bad when online with friends. The entirety of the Der Anfang zombies game mode is set in the Red Star multiplayer map by the way so if you hate the map in multiplayer chances are you won’t enjoy this. All the standard staples are there (Pack-a-Punch, Mystery Box) and it is a solid experience but certainly different to the norm. Interested to see what they do next in terms of added maps, modes to zombies and multiplayer for that matter.

    Personally, I really like this game and I would recommend it but it certainly isn’t perfect. Hopefully with patches and the addition of “Shipment” in multiplayer, it will be onwards and upwards.

    Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersMultiplayer- This is a fantastic COD to play. When I first played Vanguard I was swearing at it and saying how bad it was. Certainly in the first couple of days. However, having now played it for a week and started to get used to the maps and my load out, it is nothing short of brilliant. It was never going to be the same as CW or WZ, and I appreciate that now. The maps available at launch are awesome. Loads of them and they are so much fun. My advice, give it time and get used to it, then review it.

    It’s a proper call of duty. A little cartoonish but action packed fun, great maps, great guns, some nice features to make things more rewarding.

    I HATE how they have changed it from a “kill” to an elimination though.

    I’d recommend

    Only played multiplayer so far but I’m very impressed. The game engine is really good. Weight and feel of everything from movement to gun handling feels spot on.

    Maps are really nice and to have 16 brand new ones from launch is a great credit to the Developers. The maps colour scheme looks gorgeous. Lots and lots of weapons from the get go too which is great.

    Only downside is many of the weapons experienced cod players will have seen many times before as it’s world war 2.

    The campaign is meant to be excellent too. This is very good and highly recommend.

    Golden Review Award: 20 From Our UsersBrilliant game I have just completed the New Call Of Duty Vanguard and it was brilliant. Best campaign mode in a while. The campaign starts off with immediate action and the characters banter and jokes are absolutely beautiful. I have saved so many clips as I couldn’t stop laughing.
    The campaign mode took me 7 hours and that’s not rushing it.
    The Banter. Fantastic
    The Graphics. Brilliant
    The Story mode. Brilliant
    The things the characters get to control in the game brilliant.
    The game is fantastic best campaign mode in a few years.
    The only thing they need to do now is just sort the glitches out with a patch update.

    About those glitches:
    Through out the whole 7 hours of me playing this game, there were quite a few glitches and during the game and cutscenes the game would freeze for a few seconds then the game would continue, and in some parts the characters mouths were not in sync to what they were saying so basically there mouths would move and the audio would come seconds later so there lips and what there saying are not in sync.

    Apart from what I have mentioned the game is brilliant one of the best Call Of Duty campaign modes in quite a while.

    I can’t comment on multiplayer or zombies as I haven’t tried that yet.

    Hope this review has helped you.
    Hopefully after a patch update to sort the glitches I mentioned the game should be perfect.
    Hence why I only gave it 4 stars due to the problems and glitches I mentioned.
    The graphics were also brilliant. Thats with HDR Turned off. So don’t know what it’s like with HDR on as I personally hate HDR.

    Hope you all enjoy this game as much as I have.

    4.0 out of 5 stars Needs a patch update. There was quite a few glitches.
