The first pair of these I had stopped recharging after a week or so, but the current pair are fine- sound quality depends on the source, a good phone will give a better sound through these- excellent presence and tone, good volume

Bought for the office because the company only provides crappy logi wired headphones. These work well, easy to pair and get setup. I wouldn’t say they are noise cancelling.

Haven’t had any complaints about the microphone being quiet. I think my only criticism is the battery life when you need to use them all day.

I had a faulty pair to start with, but they were replaced within a couple of days, and I must say I am very satisfied with my purchase although the 1st pair were faulty,I would still highly recommend these earbuds

Quick delivery. Not an expert on earphones. First pair I’ve ever had, but I’m happy.

Very impressive sound quality. However, to obtain the best bass response you need to swap the standard tips for the memory foam type that are supplied with the buds. Bluetooth range is pretty good too. Highly recommended, especially at the current discounted price. The best earphones I have ever owned & no trailing lead to get tangled!

Great headphones, not too large lovely clear crisp sound, interchangeable tips so bound to find one thats comfortable for you.
Comes with an app to update them and customise the sound to your liking.

Bloody love these have had them for a long time now. Very reliable really great sound. You get different ear buds in the case so they can customise the sound. You can also alter the frequencies in the app. Genuinely i listen to these every day.

For the money the sound quality is fantastic. Spend time making sure they fit right in the ear canal for max bass which means getting the right tips (supplied) for your ears. After that you will be smiling from ear to ear and have plenty of loose change in your pocket haha result enjoy! No drop-outs as yet and works well with iphone. Connectivity is not as sweet as airpods but then for the price they are a bargain.

I have gone through a lot of different earphones and these have stood out. They are very light and comfortable, I wear them for a 8hrs with a quick charge half way though without any discomfort.

I did find the audio quality a bit off to begin with, but once I downloaded the app and tweaked the eq they were absolutely spot on!

The build quality is great! It does look like they put a good amount of time and effort into designing and manufacturing these.

So if you were on the fence about getting these or any others, I’d say give these a go and you won’t be disappointed.

Nearly bought these at full price earlier this year.Had them for 2 days. Blown away by sound quality. App is great for equaliser controls, choose your own, use presets or tweak presets. Had to change the plugs to fit me. 3 of sizes and 2 different shapes. No connectivity issues as yet, have left phone in house and went to garden, all good.
As I say its early days but I’m impressed.

As per the general reviews, these provide really good sound quality on playback, are comfortable and simple to use.
One concern is sound dropping for a microsecond when in busy places (e.g. crowded train stations) – I think this might be a Bluetooth issue (contention with too many other devices?) – but will need to see ow much of a problem it really is.

I have used numerous brands of wireless earbuds, all with their foibles, so was understandably sceptical when I friend waxed lyrical about these.but I took the plunge.
They are absolutely brilliant and safe to say the quality is far superior to apple products.
They don’t necessarily have the functionality of the latest airpod pros, but the clarity of sound makes up for that.
After a year, one of the earbuds failed. I contacted Cambridge audio who, after running through a quick diagnostic to ensure firmware was up-to-date and the earbuds weren’t simply dirty, they quickly despatched a replacement pair free of charge.
I have recommended these to numerous friends who have also bough and been converted.
Simply put, why would you buy anything else !!
    Highly recommended

No active noise cancellation but as they plug into your ears it’s not needed, plus noise cancellation isn’t for everyone so if you don’t want it then these are for you 🙂

Perfect for commuting, they literally charge themselves in case so almost never run out of battery.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersBest headphones I’ve ever owned and consider myself an audiophile, (have KEF LS50’S and an NAD Power Amp and Dac). The sound coming out of these truly impressed me and with different music genres too. Beautiful tonality and bass level without sounding overblown. Mic performance not as good but for the price I don’t think anything can touch these

The sound quality that comes from the CA Melomania +1 buds is outstanding. You get a good range in the audio, with a solid, not to punchy bass. When set up with the Melomania app, you can adjust the eq to suit your preferred taste or audio content. The tips that come with them make sure you get a decent fit so ambient noise around you is sufficiently blocked without the need for ANC. The buds are light so they don’t get uncomfortable whilst wearing them, and there is enough battery life for 8+ hours listening, with the case holding enough for at least 3 recharges.

At the current discount down to 50 they are the best you can buy in terms of sound quality for less than 100. I have a pair of Jabra Elite 75t earphones that I use daily and have tested and returned products from Sennheiser, Anker Soundcore, and RHA Audio. The sound is much more rich and full than the Jabra Elite 75t. More detailed than Soundcore offerings at approx. 50 and the RHA Audio TrueConnect 1 and 2 are not tunable with an EQ. Cambridge Audio’s EQ is much more detailed and responsive than many other brands allowing you to really dig into what sounds best for the music you like. The bass is there but not overpowering and doesn’t ruin the detail of the mids and highs. Honestly, the thousands of people buying Soundcore products in this price bracket need to do a return and get these as the are worlds apart.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI am a self confessed headphone addict! Bose, Shure, Beats, Samsung, Sony, Goldring, Sennheiser……Lord only knows how much I’ve spent over the years, BUT, these CA buds are astounding for the price. 50 on offer and they sound amazing. They’re even worth the full price!
Play around with the different tips, for me, the memory foams block outside noise and intensify the audio.
5 stars from me. They sound way better (only my opinion for my own taste in audio) than the Samsung Pro buds I got with my phone, just lack a few of the features I don’t really need like ambient sound on.
They’re also comfortable. I gave the Samsungs to my partner as they hurt after a while, these, I could sleep in!
A great buy, so portable and a handy app to adjust the sound to your liking.

First impression: amazing sound, quick auto connect, much flexibility with app to modify preferences.

I expect great sound from Cambridge Audio and these earbuds delivers. What I was not expecting was the companion app: it gives you a lot of settings and EQ to play with, lost and found location setting, firmware update and sound quality mode (low for longer battery life) and detail battery life.

Also delighted that left and right earbud can be used independently.

    Great product!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersNo question that these sound good but the fit was not something I liked. You have to really ram them in your ear hole and they’re only really kept in place by ear friction, which made my ear a bit sore. Shame really.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI’ve used these earbuds for several weeks since buying them and am more than satisfied with them. The sound quality is superb and I can hear things in tracks from hard rock to classical music that my 73 year old ears haven’t heard before. It took some trial and error to find the best silicone tips to use and how to insert the buds but when you get it right the result is worth the effort. They are not designed to be noise cancelling earbuds but when properly seated they do a pretty good job of reducing external noise.
The only problem I have is when I’m putting them in my ears. It is difficult to do this without pressing the control buttons on the earbuds which can cause unwanted track changes, volume changes, etc. Apart from this minor gripe I would thoroughly recommend them to anyone who wants quality for a very reasonable price.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI’ve had the Cambridge Audio Melomania 1+ about 3 weeks. Before buying these I looked at many different earbuds reviews from different websites, and decided that I liked the potential of the Melomania 1+ earbuds the most.

I’m generally a little sceptical of professional reviewers as they tend to have an an agenda as well as some bias.
I’ve had other brands in the past including Sony WF-XB700 (bass boosted) and found that they were all OK (relative to cost) with the fit being a common problem.

I tend to use earbuds more that most as I need to control my audio environment (autism) and I’ve also been involved with sound engineering (with a lot to learn still) for a few years so I expect a certain level of performance.

I’m extremely surprised with the quality and presentation of Melomania 1+ as well as the app.
1- The reproduction of the music is very faithful to the intended (GIGO), I listen to orchestral/pop/lo-fi/thrash/etc
2- Two types of grommets, silicone and neoprene, gives you a choice. I’ve found in the past that silicone is too slippery for me and neoprene is extremely comfortable/secure.
3- App features include location, firmware updates, three personalised EQ and 6 preset
4- The controls are a little sensitive although intuitive but if you find that an issue then you’re able to un-toggle that feature (I love options).
5- Battery life is very good, I don’t need to recharge the pack as often.

I’m having a very pleasant experience with the Melomania 1+ earbuds, and do recommend these more than others I’ve had

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersAfter having a 70 set of wired earphones fail on me (bent wires probably), I decided to give in and make the leap to wireless.

Cambridge Audio tend to target the Audiophile market and I have a Hi Fi by them, so I chose this based on brand trust. Plus the fact that it was reasonably priced compared to the big two commercial brands.

Out of the box I was surprised to find that these actually sound better than the wired earphones that I had (for a similar price).

I mainly listen to rock/hard rock and these provide punchy bass with lots of detail in the mids. You just need to play about with the fit and notice the sound change.

They don’t look particularly pretty, but I think wireless earphones all look ridiculous. The freedom from wires however is really liberating and is a change for the good.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersHave tested these against the Bowers & Wilkins P17s which I read had similar sound profiles, both being quite bassy.

If you are have a decision to make, go with the Cambridge earphones, the larger package is worth it.

Sound profile is only slightly less powerful which is natural with smaller drivers. However, they both hit very similar decibel levels for high, mid, low bass so will be great for people like me that love to hear the bass in their music.

They also come with an EQ app, which is great for fine tuning, which is missing on the Bowers & Wilkins model.

The actual case and earphones are both smaller, lighter and will fit better in your pocket.

Don’t event need to mention battery life as the unit and case both are superior of the Cambridge model.

Dont take too much notice of this not having ANC. Its fantastic at blocking out sound, tested whilst mowing lawn and at gym and couldn’t hear any external noise. Very little noise leakage also on high volume so very impressed.

You won’t regret spending less money on this! Cambridge could easily charge an extra 100.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersI owned the original melomania 1 and loved those. Opted for the upgrade mostly to see the difference. I don’t see a huge amount but the general feel of the earbuds and tech is smoother. I prefer the usb c charger in the 1 plus over the micro usb in the original.
For the size they are very clear sound. With the eq option you can get reasonable bass from them but don’t expect wanders, they are ear buds so there is a limit. I prefer the foam buds and recommend buying some spares in both sizes but try the rubber and foam you get with the buds first and see what works. Warning if you prefer larger foam buds, the fit in the case can be snug and over time you may find they get stuck. Not a deal breaker but something to be ready for. If you prefer the smaller buds you won’t have problems.
Final point is the praise of the battery life. The buds get a comfortable 7 hours each in my experience (probably closer to 9) and the case keeps them going for 4 to 5 sessions. If your good about putting them in the case between uses then you will find they top up easily and run for a good 2 to 3 days of use.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersAs per Cambridge Audio, these sound great and better than the previous version. The addition of the app for iOS is very welcome with EQ settings and power indicators included. These are still a bit flaky when it comes to connection with the occasional drop out and problems finding my device but the sound quality is good and the battery life is excellent. Next time I hope Cambridge Audio might add some form of ANC although for me that is not essential.
A pair of good sounding compact headphones.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersI waited a while before pulling the trigger on these and was initially slightly underwhelmed by them. But I played around with the different tips and found some that fitted and sounded best. Overall, I’m happy with these. I wouldn’t say blown away, just happy. Build is good and I like the charging case. It feels study and the earbuds slot into it with a satisfying click. Not overly keen on the AP, but that’s not really a deal breaker.

Update. Stopped working after a few weeks and light use. Sent them back, Not impressed enough to get another pair. Will stick with my paid of Soundpeats that were a fraction of the price.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersDropped a star as almost every time I pass someone else with open Bluetooth the headphones pause so can’t really use these out and about. Cars with Bluetooth also seem to pause them.

The cleanest sounding in-ears I’ve had. I’ve owned a few that have claimed to be in ear monitors but these are the first I’ve tried which actually have a right to claim that. They are double the price of others I’ve tried but there’s a very good reason for that. I’ve been going through all my music and listening to it again now I can actually hear the elements of it!
App isn’t perfect but does work. Just save your eq setting and exit after setting them up how you like. Next time you go back in you might need to select it again. That’s my only issue with all of it which is absolutely tiny. They even gave me tips large enough for my oversized ear-holes! My C.A. amp from the 80s finally has a C.A. friend!

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersOverall: Cambridge Audio did one thing and did it well.

    Positives:
    – Very good audio quality, the best I’ve heard out of anything bluetooth.
    – Plenty of battery life; I rarely use them long enough to run out of battery.
    – Connects to computers (Windows, Linux) and smartphones (Android).
    – Carrying case is small enough to easily carry around.
    – I enjoy the subdued, simple design.

    Negatives:
    – No Active Noise Cancellation (ANC). However, they isolate pretty well, so I rarely have an issue with the lack of ANC.
    – Tactile switches (push buttons) for controls are quite simple compared to capacitive touch controls and also easy to press when lying on your side.
    – Fall out when wearing/removing a jumper.
    – Make nasty noises that hurt your ears when subjected to significant 2.4GHz interference.
    – Occasionally crash and have to be reset in their case.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersAfter a very poor experience with the melomania touch, I decided to try the 1+ model instead. These actually work properly (mostly), which instantly make them better than the touch (in my case of using a OnePlus phone anyway), even if the sound quality is a little poorer and missing some features. Overall battery life is very good, fitment is good (but could be better/redesigned), and the sound quality is decent enough. Sometimes the case scrapes on the buds slightly when closing it, and I’ll have the odd volume glitch, but on the whole I’m happy enough and they sound good which is the main thing. I just feel like they should be a little cheaper for what they are.

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersIt was straightforward to set up these earbuds following the instructions provided and the YouTube videos the CambridgeAudio produce for setting up and using the Melomania 1+. The audio quality is very good considering the size of the earbuds.
Have had no problems pairing the earbuds to my
iPhone 12. The fit using the already fitted silicone tips worked well they seem secure and sealed the my ear channel such that the sound quality was very good.

Firmware update was easy to achieve using the Melomania app and the EQ whilst simple in facilities was very effective.
All I would like to add is the importance of exactly following the installation instructions to achieve an error free set-up. Go to YouTube and watch the videos was a big help.

    Update

A problem of getting old is that mid-range and high frequency hearing is affect an in my case I now wear Phonak hearing aid. Whilst these hearing aids enable me to stream music to them via my iPhone, the sound, because the hearing aid program has been set to compensate my hearing loss, the streamed sound is overly bright. Whereas the Melomania 1+ using the Melomania app EQ gives me a much better understanding musical experience. So for those of you who like suffer from ageing hearing loss the Melomania 1+ are fantastic in being able to musically compensate for this

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersFairly easy to set up via the downloadable app. These appear robust and of the build quality you would expect from Cambridge Audio. The sound, to my ears, was faultless, with rich midrange and what felt like very good separation of instruments. I tested a variety of genres, jazz, prog rock, soul, folk – all very pleasing through these. Some typical EQ settings, including ‘immersive’, ‘r and b’, ‘rock, etc and three options to customise to your own preferences are easy to set via the app. The controls on the buds themselves seemed responsive enough.

Sadly, these were just too uncomfortable in the ears for my personal taste to keep. I would add the caveat that if you are already used to this type of earpiece, or have larger ears than mine, you may well be fine – and if you’re an audiophile too, you won’t go wrong as there are a variety of fittings in the box. However, if you’re more used to the Apple shape earpieces, the fit may challenge you.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersImpressed with these plus 1 ear phones. Got them 8th December 21 and am still on first charge having used them about 20 hours. Sound is good, I’ve had a number of in ear phones most of which had to go back for a variety of reasons, some packed in after only weeks for instance. The dearest were over 200 and the sound was no better than the Cambridges. None of them give the wow factor as for sound which I am lead to believe is something to do with compressed sound and internet radio is not DAB I don ‘t think ,but these give out a sound that is certainly getting near to “wow”. A very minor comment is that the foam tips, large, could be a little bit bigger for me although the large ones fit quite well but not quite dead right. At the price on Amazon I would recommend these to anyone to, at least, try. UPDATE 6th Feb 22. Both earphones packed in, less than two months from new. Tried all Cambridge’s fault checkers zilch except contact our technical services. Read other reviews about that and didn’t. Contacted Amazon, bearing in mind less than 2 months old and was told we cannot replace them (thank goodness) can only refund which they did within two days. Cannot now recommend these to anyone. Pretty appalling.

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersI read a lot of the reviews on Amazon before buying and can happily confirm the Melomanias sound brilliant. As always with buds it’s important you get a good seal so make sure you choose the right tip size – there’s an excellent selection included.

The buds are very light, the buttons have a satisfying click leaving you in no doubt how many times you’ve tapped for the multi function actions (All of which are very intuitive – they’re easy to use). Battery life is excellent and the carry charging case is compact, very neat and the magnetic docking of the buds is safe and secure. They’re not going to drop out.

Unfortunately, I am experiencing a couple of issues with them.
    1. Connection drop outs. I read a lot of the reviews here before buying so was aware brief connection drop outs can be an issue and so it is the case for me.

I do have an older phone – Galaxy S7 – and don’t know either that affects anything but I do experience at least one connection drop cycle per use. It’s brief – literally I hear, ” Melomania disconnected…Melomania connected” but it’s frustrating and interferes with whatever you’re doing. I’ve seen some reviewers saying turning Wi-Fi off on their phone solves it. Sadly it doesn’t solve it on my S7.

    2. Stereo image collapse. This is an odd one but quite often if I turn my head left or right very quickly – think something catching your eye in peripheral vision – the stereo image changes briefly (best described as like messing with the balance control on a stereo) then settles again in a couple of seconds. Again I have an older S7 but never experienced this with my Sonys.

    3. Right bud powering down. This has happened twice now – the Right hand bud has just turned off during use. On both occasions this appeared to be in response to a loud alarm chirp by car I was near. I can’t say that was cause but it’s very coincidental. Whether it was or wasn’t, the bud did power itself down for whatever reason.

So to sum up – a premium looking product with excellent sound but, in my experience, with a couple of frustrating issues. Is it my phone? Well there are clearly others suffering similar issues if you take time to read other amaxon reviews so be aware these arent isolated issues. I was seriously considering returning but it’s a testament to how good they sound I haven’t.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersHaving previously ordered the Melomania touch and returned them due to constant connectivity and volume issues I ordered the Melomania 1+ hoping they would provide the same high quality sound but with more stable connection.
They are as good for sound quality as the Touch and although connectivity was better I did get uneven volume issues between the left and right buds frequently which could only be corrected by resetting them and re-pairing them with my phone. I think this is probably only an issue with some handsets due to the aptX TWS+ codec that both the touch and 1+ use. I have a OnePlus Nord.
I also tried the Jabra 75t’s which had a solid connection but sound quality was not as good as either set of Cambridge audio earbuds.
I reluctantly returned these because the sound quality was good but couldn’t put up with having to constantly reset them.
I now have the Master and Dynamic MW07+ which I got on offer for 150 and to be honest as good as I thought the Melomania 1+ was, when directly compared with the M&D’s for sound quality the Melomania’s don’t even come close.
If you can afford the extra then Master and Dynamic are the way to go. The Melomania’s are good but the M&D’s are outstanding.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersThese are (were) great little earbuds. If you want top quality audio, without paying the tax to be part of the Apple cult, these are super affordable and sound amazing. However, they aren’t perfect. There is no companion app available, so you can’t adjust EQ settings, or remap button presses to your liking (if that’s something you’d want), my pair would often fail to pair with my phone after several uses, and I’d have to tell my phone to forget them and re-pair them, or only one of them would pair and I’d have to place the other back in the case and remove it again to get it to sync up, and rarely, even when placed firmly in the case, which itself would be fully charged, it would fail to charge the earbuds. My most recent issue? The right bud just doesn’t work after I cleaned it with a cotton wool bud. It syncs, and the button works so I can pause audio and skip tracks, but no sound comes from it. To say I am disappointed is an understatement. However, judging by the lack of other mentions of this issue in other people’s reviews, I’d say that perhaps my issue is isolated and I’m just unfortunate. Still, I would have liked for these to last more than 18 months before having to replace them.

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersDecent sound quality. Good amount of bass and sub bass but higher frequencies are still clear. Case is very portable, only a couple of millimeters thicker than my wallet. Magnets holding the buds in and the case closed are strong enough that they aren’t going to go flying if you drop it and make opening and closing the case feel very premium. Battery life is excellent. Branding is understated and looks good.

The negative: the case picks up greasy fingerprints very easily so it always looks just a little bit grubby. Holes where the buds go into are quite deep and narrow so over time gunk can build up in them and you need to go in with a cotton bud to clean it out. Occasionally when opening the case the lid grazes the edge of the bud if it isn’t put in exactly right. As other reviews have mentioned they can be annoying to pair sometimes.

None of these complaints are a big deal but they take away from the otherwise premium feel.

Golden Review Award: 15 From Our UsersI had been using a pair of wired earbuds (Nokia – they were always pretty decent) for years and was quite happy. My Galaxy Note 9 has a mini jack plug but going forward I knew that wireless was going to be the only option.

I had been given Amazon vouchers for my birthday and decided I would treat myself to some wireless earbuds. The options available are ridiculous! I think I had about 20 different items saved to my compare list.
I went from looking at the 30 range to 50 to then considering the 100 region. After much deliberation I was left with the Cambridge Audio, Lypertek and JBL.

I am so glad that I chose the Cambridge Audio Melomania 1+ earbuds.

I am writing this a week after purchase and the case has not left my pocket. The earbuds however have been in and out continuously. Opening up the case you find the buds solidly held inside by magnets. They light up straight away and by the time you have popped one in your ear you hear the welcome sound of “Melomania connected”. The button controls are simple with Google Assistant available to action your requests – this does only work when you have paused your music though. I am blown away by the sound quality and coupled with my subscription to Deezer which provides HQ tracks and my phone which offers Dolby Atmos (to be fair I have no idea what this is) I am hearing elements of my music choices that have previously been lost to my ears.
I chose the memory foam buds and these really work well. You can really ram them in and get a snug fit or they still stay in your ear when gently inserted. I don’t fear them falling out at all. I have connected them to my phone, my laptop and even tried them out connected to the TV. All brilliant and completely removes me from the sounds of three children bickering.

First couple of days I had the connection momentarily dropout on one ear whilst walking. I was slightly concerned and was going to contact the support. I did a quick google and found a Cambridge Audio page referring to the Touch model. In this it suggested choosing which bud to remove from the case first. With my phone in my left hand pocket I now take the left earbud out first and this is the first to then connect to the phone. I have had no dropouts since. Battery life is fantastic. I have only just run out of juice with the case after a week of solid use. I had read a review that mentioned the microphones not being great but have taken many calls on the phone and Whatsapp and those I have asked are impressed with the call quality. I do look for the L and R symbols though and aim to have these pointing towards my mouth.

These are definitely going to get a lot of use and I feel like I have invested in high end equipment that will stand the test of time.

    Well worth the investme

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersI was happy with my RHAs but the battery was deteriorating so opted for these. These looked a bargain (and they are a bargain).

I am fussy when it comes to earphones and my wife will attest to the piles of cables and old equipment strewn over my office!

These are worthy of a review and a thumbs up.

First the pros: comfortable, easy to use, good sound (actually very good), amazingly good battery life, people have mentioned issues with the buttons and it’s true that when adjusting fit particularly with gloves on you can stop playing, that being said it isn’t a problem as the button is easy to find and responsive.
Cons sometimes (maybe 1 time in 10) they don’t connect immediately and have to be put back in the case or oddly stay connected when back in the case. There really isn’t any noise cancellation to speak off certainly when compared to my Sony Noise cancelling earphones.

That being said the battery is a particular plus and the sound is as good as one might expect from Cambridge Audi on (given the small physical presence). It’s. a thumbs up from me.

    Update some months later
Still happy overall. Have to say that getting them to link to the phone can be a bit hit and miss. Sometimes they don’t connect on opening case and taking out other times they stay connected when they have been put back in case. The other issue is the case itself the ear tips can disconnect and stay in the case even thought the bud is out. Very annoying. Still good but probably 4 stars and have some annoyances to be dealt with

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersI had been looking at some earbuds for a while and kept coming back to the B and O, but the sound reviews weren’t great, so I dipped my toes into the soothing waters of Cambridge Audio Megalomaniacs (as I call them). I wasn’t and aren’t disappointed with them. After realising that I could change the original earbud tip, which made me think the sound was tinny and awful, to the soft fit memory foam, Oh. My. God. What a difference. Wow.
What a fabulous sound. Just the right amount of bass. I trialled Notorious BIG’s Hypnotize – wonderful sound, then The Killers Live at the Royal Albert Hall ‘Read my mind’ sounded superb I could hear everything so clearly. Next some Bach – Glenn Goulds Goldberg variations, the 1981 recording, again I could hear everything including him, wonderful sound, just wonderful, a treat for my ears. Then I moved to Hans Zimmers wonderful pieces ‘Time’, ‘Stay’ and my favourite ‘Waiting for a train; the sounds of the instruments was crystal clear for all sections of the orchestral arrangements and Johnny Marrs’ guitar. Suedes ‘My Dark Star’ Was next, again all instrumentation was individually audible and crisp. I finished my library ‘trial’ with The Prodigy’s epic ‘Music For The Jilted Generation’ specifically ‘Break and Enter’ and ‘No Good’ – I heard things on the latter that I hadn’t heard before! these are a beautiful sounding set of earbuds, for me, just a joy. My 13 yo son who plays Trumpet and has ears like Gordon Ramsays taste buds thinks the sound if fab too. I wear them to listen around the house and when walking the dog, answering phone calls is simple and the sound is good again. I wouldn’t use them for any vigorous exercise, but I don’t think that is what they are intended for. If Cambridge Audio did a full set of headphones, I wouldn’t hesitate to buy them, especially for my son. I love these earbuds, they are also great for movies etc on my Sony Xperia and ipad, the sound is just as crisp and clear on moth with no lag or issues. very pleased customer.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersYou really need to experiment with the (supplied) different tips and positions in the ear to get a sound that you like. I found that the squidgy foam tips gave a more bass heavy sound while the thin rubber tips gave a lighter, clearer sound. For extra bass the buds need to be pushed quite firmly into the ear. So you can choose a balance to suit your music.

After finding the right combination of tips and position you will get a very pleasant detailed sound, easily good enough for MP3 playback and you will really notice the difference when you try high quality files. It sounds like a clich but I’m noticing bits of production that I missed with my old sennheisers.

After finding the right sized tips the buds are comfortable to wear and not too heavy. You hardly notice they are there. I haven’t tried them when running but they haven’t fallen out while walking about.

Pairing to a variety of audio devices has so far been simple and painless.

Battery life hasn’t been a problem for me although I haven’t worn them for more than a few hours at a stretch so I don’t know how long they really last. The battery pod is neat and seems tough enough to live happily in a pocket or crowded bag. The buds pop into place with a satisfying magnetic click, as does the pod lid when closed. A line of lights to indicate the remaining charge in the pod is a nice touch. The whole thing has quite a luxurious feel to it.

There are cheaper earbuds around but to me these seem like a good buy.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersTruly amazing earbuds.

I’ve read countless reviews over the last few months looking for the best earbuds for what I want within the budget I’ve set.

First of all I’m an iPhone user. My apple headphones kept getting tangled and caught on gym equipment so I was continually stopping, readjusting restarting which along with sweat making then loose just killed the rhythm.

So the criteria was mainly for gym but as I also like to stream with Netflix etc that also needed to be accounted for.

Comfort – I have fairly small ears and many different EarPods I’ve tried didn’t feel safe in my ears apart from my old Jabra X4s. These kind of screw into the ear canal and coupled with the right size bud fit really nicely. Getting the right fit also makes a huge difference with sound quality so take your time finding the right fit. Comes with plenty of different sized buds. They do not fall out and as they’re light they feel really secure even during a heavy workout. Great fit for long periods.

Sound quality music- OMG these sounds absolutely amazing and that is no exaggeration. I like all kinds of music from indie, blues to trance. I’m no musician or sound engineer but crikey the detail these pick up. I’m hearing elements that I didn’t know were there before. There’s no app to change anything like my old Jabras but Cambridge walk all over them in every way. The bass is just right. They may not be as loud as my Jabras but these more than make up for it with it with the quality especially on vocals etc. I cannot stress how clear these sound. Cambridge have excelled with these earbuds.

Sound quality streaming – I like my shows and chose a new Discovery episode to test these on. Absolutely no issues with latency. Lips synced perfectly when watching on my phone and these picked up some really great sound effect details as well as vocals etc that I didn’t pick up with my Apple wired headphones or on the sound bar from watching on tv.

Connectivity – These are so easy to connect to any device. Just seconds. Ranging from android work laptop to iOS iMac and iPhone. Just pop both buds back in case between switching. Easy peezy.

Calls- ok a little tinny but by no means an issue on this front.

Controls – Touch type using between L & R buds. Subtle but effective buttons that work perfectly. Don’t have to press too hard so no discomfort when in the ear when changing volume or tracks etc.

Build – Light but solid. The buds light up nicely and magnetically pop into the case with a reassuring ‘click’. The case feels solid. Easily fits in my pocket and has a 5 dot recharge display. I will buy the outer case and clip later though.

Overall these are easily and by far the best quality earbuds that I’ve tried beating Jabra, Apple, Bose and Jaybird that I’ve tried. Premium quality.

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersSo I have been using these earbuds for a little over 4 months now and I can only say that they are fantastic! For the small size they really do pack a punch!

Pros: don’t look as daft as other earbuds with the little tail bit dangling down.
Sound quality is immense. I’m noticing bits in the background of songs I’ve listened to many times that I’ve never noticed before.
Volume is plenty loud enough and impressive for how small they are.
Battery life is great and they can be recharged 5-6 times from the case before the case needs recharging itself.
They come with 4 different tips one of which is memory foam although I prefer the rubber ones.
All genres sounds great. As someone that listens to everything from Eminem to slipknot to the Beatles to Beethoven I can safely say that these sounds great whatever you’re listening to. Ive noticed other ear/headphones tend to favour particular genres.

Cons: The only cons I can really think of the range isn’t the best. Getting up and going to a different room to grab something generally causes them to lose connection but this is not really a big deal.
Sometimes it can be a bit of a faf to get them connected. I have had to switch Bluetooth off and back on my device several times before they connect to it but most of the time connect as soon as you take them out of the case.

All in all I love these earbuds and for the current price they are an absolute steal! I have included some pictures to try and give you a size scope of these buds.

    Terrific earbuds

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersI could sum up my thoughts on one word: Wow!

Now, I am not an audiophile and I have always bought cheap phones and buds, thinking that they all sound the same and why would I pay more than a few for a set. But the Melomania 1 have changed my viewpoint on this!

I had done a lot of research into which wireless Bluetooth earbuds to buy and I was torn between the Melomania 1, Anker Soundcore Liberty 2 pro and the Lypertek Tevi. Each had good reviews interspersed with negative reviews (as is always the case) but the Melomania edged it for me due to their look. So I took the plunge and forked out my 100.

They arrived next day (great job as always Amazon) without problem.

I opened up the parcel and was greeted with the brown cardboard box packaging of the Melomanias. I was a bit disappointed with first appearance but quickly got over that when I opened the box. The presentation is beautiful with the snazzy little charge case in view. It helped that the packaging is almost all recyclable cardboard (top work Cambridge Audio).

Next I took out the instructions and spare tips (of which you get a variety of the silicone ones and two sets of the foams – M and L I think), so you are well covered with options.

Next it was the case for the buds. This is beautifully crafted and an awesome feeling case. It is compact and unobtrusive and just looks wonderful. The hinge on that opens and closes the case just feels so smooth. This really is a work of art! My only criticism is the fact that the case is charged with a standard micro USB and not USB-C.

So I then try the buds. I used the buds as they were -using the silicone tips fitted on dispatch. The fit was good and comfortable so I kept them on. I listened to some music and could immediately hear the clarity. Crisp, clean and a cut above my previous JLab go Air (which is still good for a 30 set of buds!). I was impressed. There was just a really nice balance to the tones. I was satisfied.

The touch controls (volume, track forward and back, calls etc) on the buds are smooth, intuitive and very responsive so that was another big thumbs up.

And then the BIG difference. I decided to try out the black foam buds that came in the packaging. Super easy to fit. I put the buds back in my ears and put the music on…………….I was BLOWN AWAY by how good these were. The foam buds transformed a very good sound into a truly awesome one! I didn’t know that such a simple change could offer so much.

The sound was so much deeper, fuller, bassy (but not overpoweringly so). It was spectacular!!! I was (I AM STILL) blown away by the sound quality of these buds with the foam tips.

If I had to describe the sound as a visual description, it would be that of oozing warm runny honey being poured over my eardrums. It is just so warm, loving, sweet and all encompassing. It gave me a sense of well controlled power being channelled in the right quantity into my ears. Its perfect.

A truly wonderful set of buds that has changed my view of how music should be heard.

Excellent work Cambridge Audio, and thank you!

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersI cannot recommend these earphones enough, I’ve been using them for 2 months now and still love them!

The sound quality is fantastic for the price, with crisp detail and good volume. I have used entry-level over-ear headphones such as the Skullcandy Hesh and Audio-Technica ATH-M30X before buying these. The bass from these easily surpasses any over-ear headphone I’ve tried which is very impressive given their size. The Melomania’s come with 4 earbuds so I would recommend giving each a try for a day or two to see which gives the best seal as this is key to getting the best sound quality, particularly when it comes to bass. I found the high-tones a bit sharp straight out the box but this was easily fixed with an equaliser, which I would highly recommend using them to get the most out of their sound. I use Equaliser FX Pro which is very simple and works on both Android and iOS and have attached the settings I used for them in the pics.

The battery on the headphones and charging pack is also very impressive, I use them regularly for several days before having to charge them again. Bluetooth connectivity on both my phone and laptop is very fast and I only occasionally have issues connecting which is fixed by putting the earphones back in the charging pack to reset them.

The on-board functions such as play, skip and volume work very well because Melomania uses buttons (the glowing end of the earphone seen in the pic) rather than touch to activate them. Activating the personal assistant also works well. I have tried using them to answer calls but have had people complain of quiet volume issues, although I think this may be a case of putting the earphone in correctly so the mic faces the mouth properly.

I would also recommend getting the case (see green silicon case in pic) as it really helps protect the earphones and makes it less likely to fall out your pocket. It isn’t the greatest design because the top lid can slip off sometimes and I wouldn’t trust the flimsy carabiner ring on the side to hang it off anything, but for protecting your 150 headphones from damage it’s worth the tenner.

Finally, I was worried the shape of the headphone would give me a Frankenstein appearance when wearing them but their profile is actually much smaller when in your ear and look fine.

So overall, to get the most out of these earphones you have to spend some time getting the right ear-bud seal and equaliser settings, but even straight out the box the sound quality is excellent. These are a great addition for people passionate about sound who can’t afford to blow a grand on a pair of headphones.

Audiophile quality at a consumer price

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersI was really interested to get these as they are my first true wireless earphones and I’m not a big fan of Airpods.
Firstly, only use the foam tips. You get a superior quality compared with the silicone. And they do fit very snugly into your ears if you use the right ones (and hold there).
Sound quality is very good with the bass coming in very nicely, but mostly because I’ve edited my equalisers and Dolby enhancers on my device. So definitely alter these to your preferences first.
The noise cancelling is average. Shuts out a bit but not a lot, especially on louder places like the tube. They do stick out of your ears quite a bit as well but who cares about the look.
Have had a few weird connectivity issues with them quite a few times but it always seems to sort itself out. Started off crackling after a little use and at higher volumes but has stopped now.
Functionality and buttons are pretty simple and work pretty well.
Only *bad point* is that the voice calling is atrocious. Unless I’m on or in a quiet train or place, the person on the line can never hear me and I have to disconnect and speak into my phone. Voice notes are somewhat of a myth as well.
Overall, pretty good quality and quite happy with them. Also, battery life is absolutely amazing. Haven’t gone lower than 3 bars on the charging case with these as they just last so long. But don’t expect to use them for calls unfortunately!

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersThe large push button at the end of each earpiece makes it very easy to play/pause, skip, change volume and accept/reject calls. The charging box is small and easily fits in a pocket. Sound is good and does not leak at all which makes my wife very happy. I should think everyone would find that one of the four ear tips provided fits their ear. I use the memory foam ones.
The first pair I received would only pair with one device. Given the current circumstances it took a few days to get them replaced but Cambridge Audio were very good and acted as quickly as could be expected. It still took several attempts to get my second and third devices paired with the replacement ear pieces but they are paired now. I feel so helpless using bluetooth. There is nothing you can do but keep trying till they pair. In the old days there would have been settings to adjust or something. However they do automatically pair up with the last device used when taken out of the box which is ok if you don’t switch between devices too often.

I haven’t tried receiving a phone call when they are paired with my phone so cannot comment on that. Mostly I will use them with my laptop.

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersI’m using these for general music listening from a mobile phone, so not the most sophisticated input source, but they reveal enough about the source to differentiate between a 320K .mp3 and a high quality .flac file.Sonically, these are fairly even handed with a fair degree of detail without harshness or sibilance. Battery life seems very good. I never listen for long enough to discharge the earphones before they go back in the case, but the phones / case combination certainly sees me get well over a week / 25 hours of listening per charge. 45 hours is claimed, with the right program material and volume it could be possible.

The bluetooth connection seems very stable. Indoors, there is never a disconnect. Outdoors, I’ve only experienced a disconnect when the charging case was in my pocket, masking the phone’s bluetooth antenna, which is to be expected. Otherwise rock solid connection.

There is only one downside I can see with these and it is that some may struggle with the fit. The nozzles are unusually large and none of the supplied tips gave a good enough seal. I’ve found Cambridge Audio’s own large foam tips (sold separately at 15 for 5 pairs) to provide a good seal with a little “screwing them in”. With these tips, sound isolation is very good, you may prefer silicone tips with less isolation if out and about near traffic.

I’m a bit of a Hi-Fi nut and listen on serious equipment at home. These are the first set of earbuds that I have actually really enjoyed music through, so I’m probably going to investigate a dedicated music player and more head fi in the future. A good product!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersReceived these yesterday and I love them. I e taken them out to sleep in but otherwise they’ve been in almost constantly.

I was worried I’d find them uncomfortable as I’ve always had Big over the ear headphones and headsets, but using the memory foam buds they were fine just a little weird at first!!

Music sounds amazing I’m not a technical person who can tell you what a bass or mid level is I’m afraid but, music is clear and to me sounds how it should sound with no tinnyness or background buzz etc. Also found that the outside world was drowned out as much as I needed I don’t want the world around me to be completely shut off to the extent I don’t hear a car coming etc so the focus was clearly on the sound output but enough got through that I wasn’t an oblivious danger to myself.

I bought these purely to start running in (lockdown has worn me down) the memory foam buds didn’t budge at all on a 5km run where I was very sweaty.

Can’t compare to other products having not tried them but was very happy with the price considering how much some others cost it was the budget I’d preset myself after refusing to buy yet another over priced Apple product just because it’s Apple… already have the watch and phone and both of these connected very easily via Bluetooth settings menu sometimes I’ve found non Apple products take a few attempts but not these first time both on both devices.

Watched as couple of youtube vids and Facebook vids no noticeable lag between the sound and video as far as I could see.

To summarise I love them you should buy them and love them too!!

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersTried a stack of buds before settling on these. (IMO only ones better would be the Senn TW Momentums, but with a battery life of about half what you get with the Melomania and the case drain issue it was a no brainer for me. The sound difference is there, but not that great to my tired ears…though Senn Mk2’s promise to be an improvement I hear).

Another good thing with these Melomania is the case is very small and compact, smallest case I’ve seen, so if you are in a suit you can carry it in your pocket easily. I charge the case up maybe once a month and I use them frequently on a 40 minute each way journey into work. (that was before the Covid-19 Virus and work at home).

The memory foam inserts change the signature markedly, these then become loads more bass-ey and then the passive noise cancelling pretty much shuts out all ambient noise, but beware if your train is diverted you will miss the announcement; I ended up at Kings Cross once because of these… True story that… … You also get that bone conduction effect with the memory foam pads where you can hear yourself breathing and walking, so I went back to the silicone tips just so I don’t arrive at work late and I like that I can hear a little of ambient sound if the volume isn’t maxed out.

Should I talk about the impressive wide yet intimate soundstage, sonic subtleties with a powerful cavernous bottom end that doesn’t bleed into the forward midrange which doesn’t bleed into the sparkling top end which isn’t fatiguing from any peaks, fast pacing with a complex simple smooth playful decay, uncompromising cohesive detail, laid back and laid forward, U V and W sound profile with a lush clinically clear top end and yes, you will hear things in Dark Side of The Moon and Hotel California that you have never heard before, Nick Mason dropping his sweat band mid way through great gig in the sky, Don Henley pulling his socks up just before the vocals cut in, Excision breathing in gently before announcing he Guess I got my Swagger back, and that obscure Vietnamese throat warbling trio that nobody has ever heard of will appear to be standing right in front of you such is the realism and neutrality you can only get from a dozen monoblock Krells and Focal Grande Utopia’s connected with titanium unidirectional interconnects … These Melo’s will give your whole playlist a whole new lease of life. and . Or not. Who knows. bleh… bleh… bleh…

To sum up, Great sounding small (if slightly odd looking- but better in black tho) earbuds.

Only con is the name sounds a little too much like melanoma, but its a small price to pay. (Apologies to anyone suffering)…

    I like them…

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersWhen I first plugged these into my ears I have to say, I was a little disappointed. No base, not very loud, a bit poor to be honest. But, I’ve read the other reviews about the fit so I tried the different sized caps. You get silicone ones in three different sizes and one pair of memory foam. I’m still playing around with which ones I like the sound of most. The largest silicone ones fit my ears best but they can be a little light on the bass. Switch to the memory foam ones and there’s more bass than you can shake a stick at. There’s no eq app for them so you’ll have to either take it as they come or change it in your music app if it has that option (I’m using the music app that came pre-installed on my Huawei P20 which has some limited eq modification abilities).
The fit doesn’t solve the lack of volume though. What does solve it is the firmware update for them which is downloadable from the Cambridge Audio site. There’s a 3db volume increase and after updating last night, I’m well chuffed. Plenty loud enough now and they sound superb. I’m hearing stuff in songs I’ve listened to for years that I never knew was there.
Once in your ears they feel really secure. Maybe they don’t look that stylish sticking out of the side of your head but if that’s your main concern, buy some cheaper ones that you think will make you look cool. I bought them for their sound not what I look like wearing them.
They feel really well made and snap nicely into the well-built charging case.
You get a lead to charge them but not a plug so either plug them into the nearest USB slot or use the plug from a phone charger.
Anyone who says they’re not happy with how they sound just hasn’t found the right fit yet.
If you can’t get a decent fit with the supplied caps, CA are bringing out (have brought out?) some larger memory foam ones and if you email customer support, they’ll send you a pair to try.
I couldn’t be happier. Yes, they’re a bit expensive, but you get what you pay for.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersI would like to start of by saying that I have considered wired in ears a superior quality listening experience for years and had used Bluetooth on occasions and considered it lacking somewhat in detail and overall sound, so when I saw these Cambridge Audio true wireless earphones I thought I would give them a try as Bluetooth sound has improved considerably over time and has become convenient choice for many people, My Walkman music player gives me higher quality than aptex HD and has LDAC which offers higher quality sound than aptex HD provides, I have music formats up to 24 bit hi res (good quality files). Detail and clarity are strong points in these not bass emphasis, a clear full neutral sound that in all honesty is clearer than my wired earphones which is impressive compared to most Bluetooth earphones, a good fit with the earbuds is crucial for enjoyment of listening to what these offer. I had good faith trusting Cambridge Audio a company with a reputation and history in audio for many years, this is the first time I have purchased a product from CA and am super pleased with the purchase and the delivery from Amazon was much sooner than expected also. 4/5 stars

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersSound quality is excellent, if you prefer mids and trebles, but does lack that punchy bass. Luckily these plug style earphones fit my massive ear canals well and managed to get a decent seal using the comply foam tips. Lovingly presented in the box, top quality materials and great magnets on both the earphones and case lid to keep them well protected if you should happen to accidentally drop. Battery life is immense, having only charged them twice since using them on and off for approximately a month or so!

My only gripe with these monitors is the rather poor way these try to pair with my device. Countless times, only one ear bud works whilst the other is either still pairing or just doesn’t want to. This forces me to have to take both buds back out, pop them back in the case, close the lid and start again. When the case battery is completely dead, you also have to manually disconnect the buds from your phone before popping them back into the case, as it can’t register that you have put them away, this lead to them still playing whilst in the case, which is battery draining and overall, rather inconvenient in my hectic commutes and travel.

Overall, a great sounding pair of wireless monitors for the price! For the Melomania 2, they need to incorporate some sort of sensor on each bud to detect when the buds have been removed from the ear.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI decided to try and go for these earbuds after spending some time going through a number of websites comparing these types of devices. And even though I’m not an audiophile, I did know the brand Cambridge Audio for their higher end stuff. So naturally I got excited when I realised they have made some true wireless earbuds which sound great and are cheaper than some of the more direct competition – particularly if active noise cancellation isn’t a requirement for you.

The sound is really good, clear detailed and on the neutral side (I’m not a big fan of artificially heavy bass). I listened to some music with a range of sound styles, from some more acoustic bits, to heavy parts with a lot of complexity (and even walls of sound), and the earbuds performed really well across the whole frequency range.

They are also small, lightweight and discrete. I know this can vary from person to person, but in my case they fit quite comfortably with the included ear tips and, because they are so light, you can sometimes forget you have them on – which to me is a good sign. The controls on the earbuds are also intuitive enough to use, even though they are not touch sensitive.

The only problem I had with them was that when I took them outside and tried play music from my phone, the connection would breakup occasionally (like several times in 15 mins or less) – something which I saw as a deal breaker at the time. This lead me to contact customer support and I actually had the first pair replaced, to try and confirm whether I was just unlucky with that pair or if it was something else. To cut a long story short, I ended up trying these both a different pair of earbuds (from a different brand) with my phone, and also these earbuds on a different phone. The result is that I am now convinced my original issues were not a fault on the earbuds side, but on the mobile phone’s side (I have a Samsung Galaxy S8).

I did a bit of research on this and came across a number of discussions from people having similar issues with different earbuds and different phones, and so I tried looking for possible solutions. So, because I know that other people here complained about the same issues with these earbuds, I wanted to share my experience, which I’m hoping might help some of you. I ended up switching off some phone features like Adaptive battery and app optimisation for the Bluetooth app, as well as clearing the phone’s cache (including the Bluetooth cache). It now seems to me that the problems I was facing were related to a mix of the phone trying to be smart in optimising the energy usage of the Bluetooth, which might have cause occasional dropouts, as well as my phone accumulating crap which didn’t get cleaned up automatically. After I did these changes, I took my earbuds out and in about an hour did not have a single audio breakup.

If you experience the same issues as I did, I can’t promise the steps I took will solve your problem, but in the very least I recommend you give them a try, to double check if the problem still persists.

As a result, I decided to keep the earbuds and give them five starts because, now that I’m convinced my problem was with my phone, I really cant fault them for anything.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersI bought these because I read that the battery life and sound quality were above average for the price. I don’t get on with Apple headphones, and wanted a pair of half decent full wireless headphones that’d last a long time and not cost the earth.

On the basis of the above, I’m not disappointed. They do what they promise – not amazing, but definitely good enough for the money.

In truth I’d like to be more enthusiastic about them, but…

I bought them in stone, and while I think the buds themselves in ear look better than black, the case is foul. Stone is better described as ‘1990’s PC beige’. It’s a truly horrid colour, and I cringe every time I get the case out.

Cambridge Audio released a (much needed) firmware update that increased the max volume. But it’s only available on Android via a very cumbersome third party app. Really?! Why are British hifi companies so bad at this stuff?! If you only have an iPhone, you will be able to pair them, but that’s it. No app, no settings and no firmware updates!

Charging is via micro-USB and not USB-C which feels rather dated (albeit not as dated as the truly terrible colour of the case).

In summary, the product itself is good. But to stand out in a crowded market CA could do more to make owning them more pleasurable.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersI’ve been on the hunt for a decent set of wireless iems for a while and having read some reviews, I thought I’d give the Melomania 1 a go. For reference, I also own a set of Tin Hifi T3 iems and Hifiman HE4XX headphones, plus I used to own the Sony WH-1000XM3 headphones, so I have a decent amount of devices to compare to the Melomanias.

When they arrived I was impressed by the packaging, it’s clean, simple and smart, it doesn’t feel cheap. The charging case for the earphones is also nice. It’s light, compact and the earphones slot into the case with reassuringly secure magnets. There’s a handy battery indicator on the front of the case that activates when you open the lid, and it’s impressive that a case this small can provide an additional 36 hours of battery life.

The earphones themselves are nicely designed. They come fitted with the medium silicone tips, but personally I’ve always been more of a fan of foam tips. I tested the earphones with both the medium silicone and foam tips, and also with the small silicone tips (the large would definitely be too big for my ears) and settled on the foam tips. I found that the small silicone tips were too small, they didn’t seal properly in my ears. I then tried the medium silicone tips but wasn’t happy with these either. In my opinion the silicone tips are a bit lacking in bass and emphasise the treble too much. With the medium silicone tips I found the earphones quite fatiguing to listen to, plus they became a bit uncomfortable over time.

I then switched to the foam tips and knew immediately that they were the right choice for my ears and musical preferences. They take a bit more effort to get in your ears than the silicone tips but, for me at least, seal better and are more comfortable to listen to over a longer duration. I found the bass was more present and more punchy, without overwhelming the treble and mids.

I’m really impressed with the quality of the Melomanias. I predominantly listen to rock, indie, metal, R&B and hip-hop and I’ve found they’re great for these genres, but also tested them on classical and pop and thought they were good with these genres as well. Listening to Travis Scott’s ‘Astroworld’ you really feel the bass come through on songs like ‘Stargazing’, but then they’re equally comfortable picking out the details in Dire Straits ‘Sultans of Swing’ or powering through Metallica’s ‘Master of Puppets’. To be clear, they’re not going to compete with a much more expensive set of earphones or headphones, but for the price I am very impressed.

In terms of criticisms or things they could improve, there aren’t too many. It would be nice if the case could be charged wirelessly and I really think they should have used USB-C instead of micro-USB for the charging port on the case, plus when inserting the earphones it’s quite easy to hit the button on the outside of each earphone that controls play/pause, volume adjust, skip track, etc. I think for a second iteration of these earphones they should make the button a bit smaller, rather than covering the whole surface. Still, these are minor criticisms in what is a fantastic product, particularly at 99.95!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersAs other reviews have comented, the sound quality is excellent on these earbuds. However you absolutely must experiment with all the ear tips supplied.
I’ve been using in ear headphones for over a decade and have had many many pairs, but none have been more fussy with the fit then the Melomania’s. Getting the correct fitting tips for your ears is critical. Experiment with them all, in different combinations of type and size. I found that the best fit for me came from the foam tips, which I have never used on any of my previous dozen or more wired or wireless ear buds as they never seemed to fit as well as the silicon tips. To perfect the fit I needed a larger tip in one ear then the other, that’s how critical it is.
I would also advise a burning in period of around 7 to 10 hours to really settle the drivers.
Once you have done this you will be rewarded with everything the other reviews have stated. Clear crisp wide and airy sound with a rich bass and sweet top end perfectly held together but the crystal clear mids. If it’s not right the bass will sound thinner then you might like.
I auditioned these against the excellent Jabra elite 65t and these edged it in the clarity and impetus of the music. Although at first listening the Jabras had a significantly better bass signature. But once these had burned in the drivers and I had the best fit, it was no contest, these were my clear winners.
I wear these every day at the gym and Im a sweaty Betty but I’ve had no problems in the three weeks I’ve been using them with the waterproofing. They stay securely in my ears even when running.
Nose cancellation is only ok which is about the same for 99 percent of all ear bud type head phones. You really need active noise cancelling to shut out all external sound during very quite passages of music.
The Melomania’s have only occasionally stuttered with connection, which I think is pretty good considering so many people in the gym use wireless head phones. Other wireless buds I have used, have had terrible drop out issues in the gym.
The battery may live up to its promised 9 hours although I have only run them for 5 hours continuously and they still had around 30 percent charge left.
The buds and the case feel quality and I love how small the case is.
These would be a great buy even if they were 50 more, but you must get the fit right to really appreciate the georgous sound they can extract from your music.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersWhen it comes to battery life, this pair of earphones are near impossible to beat. It’s amazing.

Others have complained about connection issues, but honestly I’ve only experienced the same as with any Bluetooth pair of headphones. In busy areas, it’s likely to cut out a bit and come back. If you walk about busy London underground stations at peak time, you’ll likely find this happening. But it’s not happened to me on trains or most of the time walking.
It’s important to note that Bluetooth connectivity is largely dependent on the quality of the device you’re connecting to. I use a Pixel 4 and the Bluetooth is high end. I’ve used Sony phones in the past that have very poor Bluetooth modules and earphones cut out a lot. The same earphones on a device with a better Bluetooth module had no issues. So that might be another reason why people have been having trouble.

The biggest issues I’ve found with this pair of earphones is that although the sound quality is generally good, it’s a bit muddy or bass heavy. That could easily be rectified with a sound equaliser, but they don’t have a corresponding app with which to do this and if you use Spotify, you don’t have that option either.
The volume is also a little low for my liking. But fo tips do isolate the outside noises quite well (but they also contribute to the bassy sound… So it’s a case of compromise).

I think with an app in the future to manage the equaliser, this pair would get 5 stars. But otherwise, it’s a solid 4.
For the money, it can’t be beat on quality, build, style and battery.

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersThese wireless ear buds are fantastic value. The sound clarity is great and there is enough bass for me. However for those that want ear bleeding bass these may have missed the mark. The feel and look of the product is quality and I love the halo lights around the function button.

These fit me really well and haven’t fallen out nor do they protrude that much from my ears, although I haven’t got small ears. My wife on the other hand does and she had issues getting them to stay in and fell out. However got a reasonable fit with the smallest silicon covers.

In terms of noise cancellation there is no active noise cancellation, yet if you get the correct fit it passively blocks most external sound. For example tried them whilst riding my motorbike to work and I felt a little claustrophobic as could not hear traffic around me.

I would really like Cambridge to provide better calls via these ear buds, there needs to be some form of active noise cancellation or something else to improve the quality of phone calls. I have been told by everyone I call that I sound far away “on a conference call” or on loud speaker. Additionally the mic seems to pick up everything around you so even worse when outside walking by a road or if it’s a windy day.

The battery has got a lot of mileage haven’t been able to fully test this yet as I like putting them away in the case when not in use.

I like these so much that I am always trying to find an opportunity to use them.

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersI had read many reviews on these and wanted a pair of in ear wireless that had as good quality as my over ears (B&W P7’s). Having had a few other cheaper pairs and loathed to pay top dollar for the Sony or Apple leading pairs I decided to give these a hesitant go.

Product quality is exceptional, case and phones excellent build and will last.

Sound (when u get the fit right) is fantastic. Good deep bass and full range. Not massively better than my cheaper ones however I think I got lucky with those (Encafire in ear ones). The sound however is excellent and doesn’t distort at high volume (which is wear I listen to them). Call quality isn’t amazing, better than my Encafires in noisy places but not massively.

My only challenge with these was getting a “sealed” fit. I contacted CA customer svce who sent me bigger foam tips. I stuck with the middle silicon and now have a fit that works (they’ll never fall out but took a bit of Time to work out the ideal fit).

Overall excellent product but not quite 5 star. For the price and compared to others more expensive I would recommend. Excellent customer service as well from CA

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI had a pair of wireless earbuds from another manufacturer that made a slight metallic, tinny ‘buzz’ on tracks when low bass played and nothing else and there was delay on the audio when watching video. So I wanted something else and saw these.
All I can say is WOW! These earbuds (or in-ear monitors as Cambridge Audio call them) are phenomenal. Truly awesome.
    Sound:
The sound they produce is simply stunning. The bass is incredible – clear, tight and beautifully deep (just listen to Angel by Massive Attack to see what I mean). Using these monitors, I have heard parts of the track I haven’t heard before. The sound is all encompassing and you really feel every note. I listen to a wide array of music – from classical to pop & rock through to LoFi, dance and electronic. These monitors deal with each and every one of them without missing a beat. The soaring strings of Sibelius to the deep lows of Leftfield are delivered perfectly.

    Comfort:
I have worn these for several hours at a time since owning them and my ears have never felt uncomfortable. I tried the silicon tips at first and found they were a good fit and provided good passive noise cancelling. Then I tried the foam tips and they were fantastic! They took a bit of fiddling to get on and need to be warmed slightly to get them to fit easily in your ear, but once they’re in and adjusted to give the best sound, they are rock solid. My only ‘complaint’ would be that there isn’t much by way of choice when it comes to size – one set of foam tips, and three sets of silicon. It would be nice to have a few more foam tips to choose from.

    Connection:
So far, no issues at all. I’ve wandered around the house and left my phone in the lounge and stayed connected all the time. I’ve also walked around the town where I live and past lots of houses with lots of WiFi that could cause interference and they never lost connection once.

    Controls:
These are great! I love being able to control everything from the earbuds, especially the volume. The previous buds I had did not offer volume control and having on these is fantastic!

    Voice calls:
Brilliant and clear. I’ve used them for several calls and i can hear everything very well and nobody I have spoken to has had any issue hearing me.

I can’t recommend these highly enough. I haven’t been paid or given these to review, I shelled my own hard earned cash for them and this is my honest view. They do look a tiny bit odd because they stick out of your ear and make you look vaguely like Uhura from Star Trek!! But it’s well worth it for the amazing sound you get as a result.

Golden Review Award: 15 From Our UsersFirst and foremost, I personally had no issues with fit like some people have complained about. The tips that were preinstalled on the earbuds were perfectly fine for my ears. They stay in place very securely.

I wouldn’t say I’m an audiophile, but I appreciate good sounding music. I look for controlled and punchy bass when I purchase audio products and I knew that with these being monitors they have more of an audiophile sound profile. However, to my amazement, the bass on these is definitely present without being overpowering. Everything seems to have coherence, the bass, mids and highs. Nothing feels left behind.

I know some earbuds have more emphasis on bass, but these are just fine. If I was to knitpick I’d ask for an app where I can adjust the equaliser settings. Just slightly more bass would be ideal but I’m more than happy with what’s on offer.
Where these monitors shine is clarity and definition. There is just so much detail in the sound. It’s like you’re in a bubble. Now that’s not to say the sound stage is narrow, no. It’s pretty broad, but not wide. I like it. You can tell where certain sounds are coming from.

I have a few bones of contention. There seems to be a delay in connecting the left and right buds. The lady announces connection in the left ear a fraction of a second before the right.
The build is pretty good, although you can tell they’re assembled in China. The buttons on the top (which you click) appear to slightly jagged edges. You can tell this when the halo lights glow. However, this is just a minor cosmetic thing. I just more attention to detail was used.

All in all these are an incredible piece of kit. As far as bang for your buck goes in truly wireless earbuds, I think these top it. Sure there are the Sony M3s and the Sennheiser Truly Wireless Momentums which cost double and possibly have better build quality, but as far as sonic fidelity goes, I think these are on par.

Battery life is still to be tested, but I have my hopes up as people have said very good things about it.

Golden Review Award: 17 From Our UsersI bought these as a replacement for my Jabra Elite 65t, and the improvements are stunning.

First and foremost, sound quality. It took me trying 3 different eartips, but finally with the memory foam tips I got the seal needed and the sound transformed into a rich and glorious soundstage. Highs, mids and bass are all there and all clear and distinct. (If you see reviews stating they have no bass, then they have not achieved a good fit. ) Let’s put it this way, the sound is good enough to make me sell my sennheiser momentum over ear headphones, these are the best in ear headphones I’ve owned.

I was worried they may not fit my ears as I always end up having to use the largest tips supplied, but actually they for great. Very light and comfortable.

Battery life is amazing. I only.use them for my.commute so haven’t tested the full 9 hours but combined with the case I can use them for well over a week without a recharge of the case. My jabras only lasted 3 days.

The case is worth a mention. It’s surprisingly small, and the earphones fit into it very well with the lovely little magnetic snap.

Overall these have transformed my opinion on truly wireless earbuds. Sound quality belies their stature and I would thoroughly recommend to everyone – just make sure you use the right tips to get a decent fit and seal.

Golden Review Award: 15 From Our UsersI had Jaybird 3 (failed battery charging after 1 year), Soundpetes -no volume control on buds too quite, then these Cabridge audio, No drivers for windows or Android, direct pairing no problems so far. These are perfect with spotify since spotify now have a sound tuning feature which allows you to tune earbuds to your own ear sound characteristics. So you can boost base/mid/treble to your liking.

Fit can be difficult as you really have to twist then to get them to sit and seal into the ear ( I have average small ears).
Once sealed in they sound great, Only one side fell out once.

Charging pouch is great, hours of play time.

Golden Review Award: 76 From Our UsersHaving previously purchased budget true wireless headphones and finding them somewhat tinny and lacking in volume, I decided to treat myself.
These come in a smart compact case and were smart looking. They did feel like a step up in quality. Overall they are a little bulky and stick out of the ear more than my prior set. However the quality of sound is excellent, easy to control and I have grown to like these a great deal. I did have some minor issues with bluetooth connectivty after a week of purchase. I was able to fix this by re-pairing and works fine now. This does sometimes happen with all bluetooth devices and a re-pair often fixes the connection issues.
The supplied silicone ear tips worked just fine. I did try the foam ones but they were not bery robust and tore easily just trying to put them on – so will stick with the silicone ones. Indeed since the purchase I bought the rubber case protector and also some spare ear tips – all also available from amazon.
I am sure there are headphones with better sound but for the price they are very good and certainly meet my needs as a person who wanted a decent high quality pair or true wireless headphones without breaking the bank.

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersI was satisfied with my mid-priced wired earbuds until they stopped working after several years of use.
I decided to replace them with wireless earbuds and do away with the inconvenience of wires. After reviewing the earbuds available I opted for the Melomania 1, a good choice.
I had been satisfied with my previous earbuds, but the Melomania’s are in a different league. The clarity and level of detail in the sound is astounding. I was a little concerned about the possible fit, but they fit my ears perfectly and are very comfortable.
I am no audiophile, but would recommend the Melomania’s unreservedly for their sound, comfort and exceptional battery life.

Golden Review Award: 77 From Our UsersHaving just tried the Creative Outlier Air airbuds, the Cambridge Audio Melomania 1 are clearly lighter, smaller and better sound quality, but the greatest difference lies in the control buttons: much easier to use than the Outliers which are practically unusable. The case is also smaller and the buds are easier to remove. All in all this is a more refined product: recommended.
Edit: regarding the poor microphone performance, it’s easily solved by taking one earbud out of the ear and placing it close to the mouth to speak into it.
