I have already owned a Canary Pro for a few years, So didn’t hesitate to buy another. They are purrfect for seeing what my cats get up to when I’m out, also to keep check on the house. The images are very good quality even when zooming in. Since purchasing this Canary Pro I have ordered another making 3 in total. The cats cannot hide anywhere now. Highly recommend these quality indoor cameras, easy to set up and use.

I’m delighted with this item. I’ve purchased security cameras before and had issues because they were awkward to set up, unreliable, or just poor quality.
This make seems to be none of those things. I got this item shortly before going on vacation, and set it up quickly and easily. I never had any issues while I was away monitoring the house. It gave me a nice assurance that our friends promise to feed the cat was being regularly kept! The video was very good quality in both normal light and at night time. Recordings were easy to access, and real time monitoring equally simple to do.
for routine use while home, I was able to set up the time windows so it would record night time activity, and also my wife and I both have the app so it knows when we are not at home and automatically records.. its reassuring not to have to remember to switch settings each time we are away, but know its intelligent enough to know when to start recording.
Finally as an item around the house, it is non intrusive and actually looks quite smart. I am still amazed what a great image across a wide part of the room I get from tis little device.. I suspect I will now be tempted to buy further devices for other rooms of the house, now that I have found a security camera I can rely on.

I have had cameras around my house for a while now, living on a council estate and with my car parked on the road i like having a camera looking out on the car and another at the entry points to the house. Over the years i have caught several people damaging my car by backing into it and due to the video evidence managed to claim on their insurance each time (one time going to court to prove it was them).

This camera provides and excellent deal giving a years free storage and HD videos. This is important as this camera uses your wifi and sends its video through your internet to a central server. From this server you can watch the footage on you phone or tablet. (Apple and Android is supported).

The picture quality is excellent being 1080p. You can read the license plates from cars on the street and gives a good resolution when looking at people.

Overall this is a great deal and i highly recommend this.

My main reason for getting this was because of our Pets. Alot of the time they are left alone during the day, and we worry about them, or are just curious as to what they get upto. Its also very interesting to see what they get upto at night (when you can hear what sounds like furnature moving – the night vision comes in handy for this).

The camera is a very nice build , good quality and doesnt look out of place with most modern smart devices(echo, home or whatever its now called, ring, etc).

For the price compared to other cameras, you would expect more features. It doesnt dissapoint in this area with ; two way audio, temperature , airquality, auto on off , specific motion control (basically can detect people rather than pets), night vision, 1080p recording , and a siren!.

For us, this is postioned in our living room, and having a new 9 week old kitten, its brilliant for watching her, with the added advantage of being able to make sure it not to hot!. Im actually working on integrating this into my nest temperature control – but thats a different story all together.

It came with a 1 year premium sub. Not sure ill subscribe after that finishes, i guess ill see how usefull it is. Although i did say that with the ring sub, and ended up realising its invauable.

Oh, it also has night view. This was fantastic for the simplicity of being able to see that our cats and dog do not actually re arrange our furnature , but do drag various things around during the night (and fight).

Overall, very good (if expensive) home security (and general use) camera.

    Brilliant if you have pets!

As an owner of an original Canary, I was interested to try the updated version (thank you amazon). I confess, I have struggled to see many differences other than being able to connect to the Alexa app.

Setting up the Canary is really easy. Follow the instructions, download the app, connect to WiFi and you’re away…

I found that when I first installed my Canary, I went through a phase of being a bit paranoid every time I got an alert on my phone. However, I have invested the time to tag every notification with what it has recorded (sunshine, car lights, shadows, people, pets etc). It seems to have learnt over time, and I get much fewer random notifications now.

It worked by creating a geofence – when your phone leaves this area, it automatically turns the camera on. You can also turn it off/on manually via the app, and set timers. When you are at home, it does into “home” mode and does not record. At bedtime (you set this time) it switches to “night” mode and starts monitoring again). When the light is low, it switches to infrared night mode (with a set of very obvious red LEDs).

The picture / video quality is very good – and whenever you receive an activity notification, it will record a short video available to view in your app. It can be quite fascinating to see what goes on in your home when you are not there – I’ve “caught” a friend watching tv naked (naked!) in my front room, and my cleaner enjoying a long sit down and rifle through my post(!). Fortunately, no burglars.

The one thing i heartily Recommend is taking time to find the right position for your Canary. Somewhere subtle but with unobstructed views of what you want to guard. There is not much point putting it on the hallway table if it is going to end up with bags dumped in front of it. You also need to be mindful of your WiFi signal unless you are going to use it with an Ethernet system.

The alarm on the Canary has provided much amusement. Mainly for freaking out friends who stay at my house, but also handy if you spot a pet doing something it shouldn’t. It’s also great to be able to talk through the canary – whilst overseas, my partner was in my house and I talked to him through the Canary asking him why he was in my house (yup, that totally freaked him out, but bless him he was doing a bit of DIY for me).

It also monitors temperature, air quality and humidity. Compared against other tech I have for monitoring these things, it is quite accurate. You can set notifications to warn you should temperatures / humidity get too high or low.

Almost everything about the Canary is brilliant. I certainly feel safe in the knowledge that if someone did try to rob my house I’d a) get a notification and b) I’d have video footage of them. However, I don’t like that there is a really obvious white light that turns on when it is recording and I really hate that you have to pay an annual fee for the premium service (79 for one unit at time of writing). This unit comes with one-years access to the premium service included via a code, redeemable on the Canary website.

Overall, I find that the Canary gives me piece of mind when I am away from my home. There are plenty of similar items on the market these days, but compared with other ones I have tried the Canary has proven itself to be the most consistent. Happy to recommend it.

So, I already own a Woox security camera, which currently costs less than 20. That just gets you the device, adding the 1-year subscription for cloud storage is on a par with this one (ie 80ish). On current pricing, that means you’d be paying a lot more for this device.

It’s worth noting that signing up for the subscription-based service, you will need a credit card. This is true even if you get this one with the 1-year subscription code. This is stupid, as not everybody has a credit card. Other options should be available in 2019.

The device itself has a really nice design. As a security camera, I could probably do without the light on the base drawing attention to it, but that said I’ve had it installed in my home now for a while, and nobody has spotted it 🙂

The camera is simple to set up and can be done via the Canary app in a matter of moments. It can be connected via WiFi or direct through a network cable if desired.

The picture quality is great, and picks up even the slightest movement; mine faces my garden and I can tell you with a certain degree of precision exactly how much my rose bush moves during the day. I do appreciate that I can set the camera to only report on people, but I might like to know if for example my daughter leaves the gate open and the dog escapes (theoretically).

Overall, a nicely designed camera that has all the right moves. Given the choice, however, I’d probably opt for the cheaper camera.

    Updated review:
We’ve been using this at my mums for a few weeks now. It definitely gives piece of mind.
I can see if her phone is at home.
I can look to see if there’s been movement. You don’t need to watch the video on the timeline- you can get phone notifications or just look at the timeline and see a photo still at the start of the video.
The included 12 month video is really reassuring.
    I think it’s good.

    Original review

This was easy to set up.
Plug in, download app , attach to wifi… and away you go…
It’s a good piece of kit for piece of mind.
    It records
    You can speak through it
    It has a panic button
    Really good kit ….
It’s worth a try and I think you will be happy with it!

This indoor security product was extremely easy to set up with clear instructions provided by the app.
It works pretty well with a wide angle lens causing some edge distortion but otherwise clear.
You can only watch the room live out of the box. If you want the camera to record, you have to sign up to a 30 day trial or an annual premium of 79 with credit card details.

The quality is very good. I dropped it straight out the box and it still works!
Even the plug is a nice round design!
It’s quite smart and unobtrusive. I set it up and no one noticed it for quite a while!
At night it goes into ‘night mode’which is a very clear black and white screen. It will alert you through the app to any motion detected. You have the option to sound a siren.
If you don’t mind the annual subscription, the I would recommend it both for quality and value.
The more I use it, the more I’m tempted to sign up!

Annual subscription but works very well

Since they first came out, I’ve been keeping a close eye on the Canary Home Security systems – offering an all in one without a subscription seemed to take away two of the major pain points that had stopped me previously – installation and having to pay an ongoing cost. As a second generation edition, I was hoping the Pro may have ironed out some of the problems with the first too.

Set up was as easy as I was hoping it to be and much easier than the Cocoon which I’ve tried previously. You plug it in, download and connect the app via bluetooth to give it your wifi password then you’re away. You don’t need a subscription to watch the last 24 hours worth of saved videos while this comes with a free trial of the pro version as well.

Once set up, the image quality and video feed is good. The pro version also allows you to monitor air quality, temperature and humidity – nice but not hugely useful. A number of settings are available to monitor your home in different ways and so far in my tests I’ve seen no false alarms (I’m looking at you Cocoon) so everything was genuine, with the siren and notifications responding quickly and the live feed being up to date.

Overall, what you’ve got therefore is a package that finally actually is a whole security system in one. Good camera, connectivity and app makes this a pleasure to use and makes me feel comfortable my house is well guarded.

his is simply fantastic! let’s start with the setup, so easy – i thought it would be complicated, but plug in, install app and it just sees it and connects to your wifi and then a quick firmware update. it’s super easy. once installed, the camera/view on your phone auto toggles between wide angle so you can see the whole room. the picture is clear and minimal lag. you can hear everything very clearly and pressing the talk button, you can say something and people in the room hear you. you get little notifications when someone’s in the room outside your “away” hours. for example, i have it as away when i’m out of the house and when a family member popped by, it took a pic and a recording and notified me. you can customise the alerts, the on/off hours and you also get information about temperature and humidity in the room. i find it handy for seeing what the kids are up to when i am away and occasionally saying something to them if needed. it works on the laptop just as well as the phone and i just cannot tell you how handy this is. furthermore, it looks so subtle and fits into the room discreetly. going to be getting a few more for the other rooms in the house

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThis arrived as a vine program product for review . It was delivered by Parcel Force in an Amazon branded box packed with packing paper ( lots of it !).

I took it out of the box and read the instructions which are simple to follow .
I connected the camera to my WiFi and downloaded the app , I downloaded from Android app but you can also download IOS.

Once you have the app downloaded you can see everything that is happening in the room you set the camera in .
It’s motion detection has about a minutes delay , which isn’t bad at all , you can even talk to people or animals via the app which is Alexa compatible .

This camera came with one years free Service which includes full hd videos , unlimited video storage and a two year warranty .

I already have an indoor security camera so am gifting this Canary Pro to my daughter , she’s single and lives in an area which suffers spates of burglaries . I like to think this will give her added security and help her feel safer .

I was slightly confused by the 25 price difference between this and another which is the same ? The cheaper one states it’s Amazon certified to work with Alexa , however no mention of that with this one .

You can’t put a price on household security as far as I am concerned , with the added 1 years subscription I personally feel this is worth its price .
