Bought it as replacement for my MSI GT72 PSU becouse my charger keeps shutting down …. sadly the issue is still present even with this replacement BUT thats do to my system or hardware and not this charger
So in short this charger worked perfectly for me , no overheating , no strange sounds from the brick or smell that would indicate any malfunction .
Only one little issue was the power cord sent with it had trouble staying in its socket on the brick but other than that its a good 230 watt charger .

Being a Chinese brand, MSI adapters are difficult to source. I was in 2 minds about buying this product because I saw “authentic” MSI Apache adapters available from various sites with “adapter” in the name and ending in “.co.uk”, but after investigating those sites on trustpilot, I found they were Chinese companies with slow shipping times, poor service and often sent replacement adapters rather than authentic ones. After much investigation, I decided to go with the safety of purchasing on Amazon.
When purchasing this adapter, please be sure to get the right connector. For my laptop, I needed the 7.4 x 5mm option. I verified this by measuring the diameter of the entire connector which is 7.4mm. The diameter of the hole inside the connector is 5mm [IOW: it comes up as 5mm if you measure only the hole without the rim]. Also, inside the hole of a 7.4 x 5mm adapter is a single pin.
I’ve had this unit for about a month now. No issues. It does not run hot. [Though I use it primarily for software development, not gaming]. The light works fine. The cable length is great. Not noticed any odd behaviour in terms of charging.
The only complaint I have about this unit is the straight connector. L shaped connectors are much less likely to brush against your leg and damage the charging port.
But overall a good purchase. Solid so far.
