My old machine was getting a bit tired and the coffee was just about drinkable even though I regularly descaled it, this one is great at making a really nice drink it’s pretty quick to warm up tamp the coffee press the button and hey presto, I highly recommend this machine.
I also recommend the CreepyParty Coffee Tamper 51mm it fits perfectly.

I was looking for an alternative to the ubiquitous pod machines and came across this beautiful machine. It looks really stylish and makes great coffee. I thoroughly enjoy the ritual of making real coffee with it!

If you enjoy frothing / heating your own milk this is the machine for you. It’s taken the chore out of making coffee. It’s simple to use (after initial setup-read the instructions carefully) and so easy to clean. The coffee tastes amazing right temperature right pressure, it’s so good! I never review anything but this deserves a review!

A little bit complicated for a coffee machine what with temperature settings etc. (not sure why anyone wouldn’t want coffee at hottest setting) but bottom line is it makes brilliant espresso. Looks good too and doesn’t take up much space. Once you get to grips with the instructions and settings this is a brilliant machine.

    Positives
Easy to set up and use
Makes great coffee with a little practice
Small footprint makes it ideal for the kitchen work surface
    Looks stylish
    Reasonably priced

    Negatives
The descale operation is a bit of a pfaff, we have to do this about once a month but serves us right for living in a hard water area

Purchased this coffee machine as a friend of mine already has one & I brought this machine based on seeing & using my friend’s one.
I got rid of the awful Nespresso pod machine (cost a fortune in buying pods) all the time & upgraded to this one, there is loads of YouTube videos you can watch on how to modify the machine & how to teach yourself the art form.
I buy already pre-grounded coffee from Kimbo to supermarket coffee so price ranges from 2.50 to 6.00 & I get on average between 40-50 cups of coffee so hence why I’m saving money
The actual machine has worked faultlessly in the time from receiving the coffee machine, I’ve had no issues, the coffee temperature I’ve programmed to high via the settings (as I like my coffee hot I’ve set the double shot to 26 seconds by pressing & holding the double shot button 1st of all (just once) in-order to set/program that extraction time.
You get the tamper, milk jug & all the other accessories you see in the pictures.
I use this machine at least 2-4 times a day & I only ever use the double shot setting, I don’t use the attachment it comes with for the milk frothing (it’s best with that left off) sometimes the milk spout will pop off but that is due to the steam/pressure so you just got to be careful & mindful when using that method.
Overall I rate this machine 5 stars as it doe’s everything I need it to do but I hope that it will last & be reliable (only time will tell) Also on a side note, I set the water to soft as I only use mineral water from Tesco, you get a 2 litre bottle for 0.50p as I live in a hard water area but I never digest tap-water so this should also make the machine last as it will not need descaling on frequent basis.

If you like good coffee without too much hassle, this is a good option. It works smoothly and fast, it makes really nice brew and the maintenance is simple and straightforward. I have been using it twice a day every day for a month and I have a grand total of 0 bad details to point out about it. Brilliant kitchen addition.

    What a trea

Purchased to replace a similar machine ( so I thought) that had broken but really there is no comparison. This machine is very easy to use and makes a really good coffee. It also looks good on the kitchen worktop!

I bought this having been a tassimo loyal for many years.
This is a very good coffee machine, and it looks the part too.
Very easy machine to use and clean. This makes a superior cup of coffee I have to admit and it makes hot coffee too, not the usual like warm brew that pod machines produce, including Nespresso. I bought the bean grinder which is a matching product and the two are absolutely amazing so far. The difference is compelling compared to pods to be honest and the taste is worlds apart. There are a few other purchases you will need to make like knock box and milk jug with a thermometer, but it’s well with the outlay I can assure you.

For the price this is a lovely machine – so far. Slim design is great for small kitchen surfaces. Easy to use and easy to clean.
It is versatile in that you can use one scoop of coffee and press for a one cup amount of water to make a strong espresso. Or press for a 2 cup amount for a slightly weaker espresso. Or press a couple of times to ‘wring the beans for all they’e worth’ and still get a decent Americano. Not used the pod option yet.
The hot milk nozzle and frother are great. I make sure I clean it after every use to avoid blocking, unless I am using it a few times in the day.
Overall very pleased with the machine and I trust it continues to live up to its reputation.

Very happy with the coffee maker it’s so easy to use the instructions are a bit of head work and I’m still trying to figure things out myself but so far everything seem to be working perfectly although it didn’t come with the jug for the frothing part had to buy that separately.
Easy to clean you just run the hot water system though without any coffee init .you do however have to remove the bottom tray to fit a cup underneath

Machine is elegant, works well and the coffee is really good, although you might want to find out the right grinding setting for your coffee beans. Only cons that I have found so far is that the position of the buttons on top of the machine is an unfortunate one, because sometimes it has happened to click them unvoluntarily.
That being said, I am pretty satisfied with this purchase.

After a long time of wondering whether to get a pod coffee machine or not to bother at all, I decided to refine my search and only search for a barista style coffee machine for a real experience of brewing coffee. I also chose this because of how little waste there is when comparing to a pod coffee machine. I only waste the ground coffee puck but this goes straight into our green bin so no harm at all!

The machine is super easy to use. I find that the portafilter is now very smooth after a few weeks of daily use. It was a little stiff at first but with a bit of practice and as the machine gets worn in, it’s super easy to use. I live in a hard water area so I invested in a water filter so that I can save the internals from scaling up. This machine did come with some internal cleaner but I’m yet to get to my first full-on descaling.

Filling up the water is nice and easy. Frothing the milk for cappuccino is simple and straight forward. I tend to use the Hot Milk function as I’m more of a Latte drinker.

I wish this came with a better tamper than the multi-tool one it comes with. I find it hard to press the coffee into the portafilter because of the spoon being on the other end. I’ve invested in many tools to compliment this machine such as a black milk jug made by Rhinowares. Also, some cleaning brushes to be able to clean the small holes and pipes when doing a clean of the milk steamer.

One feature which I am a little underwhelmed with (it doesn’t really have any effect on the machine in my opinion) is the cup warming shelf on the top. It gets to be luke warm at the best. You can barely notice the heat from it. If I am pre-heating cups, I just run them under the hot tap. To be honest, I never really do this either…

All in all, I’d definitely recommend this machine. It looks great, there’s a wide range of accessories you can get direct from Delonghi and it makes a great coffee. I have never been barista trained and I picked it up in a couple of days.

With practice you can get a good work flow going and make ok extractions but I fear I will “outgrow this machine as I continue to hone my technique.

It’s and ok first home espresso machine but it seems to struggle with some beans more than others despite the grind size being the same.

Few minor complaints about build quality, stream wand needed replacing as the stock one isn’t great, steam switch has a microswitch missing the armature to make it work well, you have to turn it beyond what looks correct to actually activate the switch.

Not bad at this price range but no good for making multiple cups back to back as it’s a single boiler it has to alternate between the coffee temp and steam temp which is a bit tedious if you’re making coffee for 2-3 people.

Mine arrived yesterday after 2 days of having to drink instant coffee, not a pleasant experience.

My previous Swan espresso machine stopped working after 2 yrs, pump just stopped pumping. Before that I had a Nespresso machine that used pods which also packed up after a couple of years due to pump failure.

Let’s hope this one lasts a little longer.

This machine is solidly built, has a good quality feel to it. Everything fits well together. The two features that I like about this machine is the automatic stop and the fast turnaround time. The reheat is instantaneous thanks to the use of thermoblock heating system, and it’s ready for the next one before you even have time to empty and refill the coffee ground.
The water capacity is only 1L but it’s really not a problem because filling it is so easy.

The noise is no worse than any other machines and there’s hardly any vibration thanks to the solid and weighty construction.

The programmable setting menu is not the most obvious and intuitive to use but you only have to do it once. You can set the water temperature, water hardness, water amount for each of the cup settings, and there’s a descaling programme you need to use from time to time. There”re only 3 buttons and lights, so you adjust the settings by pressing and/or holding the buttons in different sequences. You won’t remember which is which after 3 months, so keep the instruction booklet safe!!

The result is a lovely rich, smooth aromatic coffee with good crema lasting well into the minutes, and that’s with normal off the shelve supermarket pre-ground Lavazza espresso coffee ground.
It taste much better than the Swan machine that I had, with much smoother coffee, less bitterness and much better and longer lasting crema, all with the same coffee ground.

I’m sure if you spent a 4 figure sum on a machine you’ll get a better result comparable to the professionals, but for a mere mortal I doubt I’ll be able to easily tell the difference. It’s simple to use for a daily morning coffee, it’s easy to use, no fuss, easy to clean. For a machine south of the couple of hundred pounds it’s definitely a good buy.

This was bought to replace a machine that stopped heating and couldn’t be repaired. It’s compact, has a decent size water container, and makes a decent coffee. Once you program the length of your drink, it’s a case of just pressing a button and walking away. It’s a bit clunky and noisy, it’s fairly easy to clean, you can remove the drip tray to accommodate longer mugs, which is what I do, I drink americanos without milk using a finely ground coffee to get that good crema on the top. It comes with a couple of adaptors, so you can use coffee discs, single or double espressos. It’s a decent price, keep an eye out for deals and it will be worth i

Really impressed after a couple of weeks. I like that you can set the amount of water you want in your coffee. The auto cutoff also reduces the chance of drips. Again the ability to set the temperature is really good, real hot coffee with a remarkably short ‘get ready’ time. The deep coffee grain holder also allows you to make a strong cup of coffee. They are never that easy to clean. Only criticism would be that it is surprisingly light weight, will be interesting to see how it lasts.

Unit seems to make excellent coffee. However, the pod holding the coffee clips in using springs, when you need to remove a hot one to fit the next one, you’ll find it somewhat difficult. Minor issue really it was a good buy.

I’ve had this machine for almost 3 years now, and although I’ve been using it a lot (average of 3-5 times a day!), I never had a problem.

Buy it, you won’t regret it!

  38. Hunter40Qstpbyk says:

This worked brilliantly for few days, then I noticed I had to check the heat settings as it didn’t seem to be as hot any more – and they were still on the highest setting. I went to use it today to make a cappuccino and now the steamer only works for a few seconds before dying. I clean this religiously after every use and it is not indicating a descale. I’ve asked a question about this, but hope it can be resolved and I can give honest review.

    UPDATE

Read the manual all the way through and when you’re finished, read it all the way through again 🙂
In my eagerness to make the perfect cappuccino, I forgot to read the bit at the end of the manual telling you that the steamer needs to be purged if your are going to make another Cappuccino immediately after the first one. If you don’t purge the steamer, it fails to steam.

This is a complicated machine without a doubt and requires a bit of patience and a learning curve, but it makes a superb Espresso/Cappuccino. My only downer; even on the highest heat setting, the coffee is not up to the usual boiling lava temperature that I usually like. Easily fixed by microwaving it afterwards – BEFORE adding the steamed milk of course.

My last coffee maker was also a De’Longhi which after 12 years of continuous use finally gave up.

It makes really good coffee – far better than my previous make espresso machine. However the real test will be how durable it is. This is my second Delonghi machine – the first one gave up within a year and previous reviews suggest this isn’t unusual. I have registered my guarantee this time!

We’ve had this machine almost a year now. It took a little bit of fiddling at first to learn the sequence of actions for a good cappuccino, but now it’s become a ritual, and the results are always perfect. We’ve had to descale it once only so far, which again is a simple process. Highly recommended.

I have had other coffee machines before but both were for pods only. The coffee was OK but nowhere near the standard of this great machine. OK its circa 100 more expensive than say a standard Nespresso machine but well worth every penny. I will only ever buy a Delonghi from now on.

This is a great machine, fully metallic with intuitive buttons and ease of use. This machine in my opinion is a super simple coffee maker which is excellent at producing espresso and has options if you fancy something a little more luxurious like Cappuccino or Latte.

While expensive, I think this machine is really great for the price and could have asked for a much higher price point. Thankfully, they haven’t and this is a fantastic, accessible, machine.

Well, now that I have mine I can’t be happier, works perfectly fine, love the fact you can use a big mugs or small espresso cups, even the almond milk get creamy and delicious. A lot of mixed reviews but after a few months I have had no problems with this machine at all. Does exactly what I need it too for a mid priced machine. Easy to clean and set up, makes a good coffee and let’s face it no home machine is going to compare to a 1000+ coffee shop machine anyway

Simple controls, easy to use and clean.
    Solid construction.
    This is my second one.
The first one started leaking after 5 years – I used it every day and averaged around 12 cups per day (not just for me!). I think that is a fairly reasonable life.
I live in a hard water area, so I suspect a hose probably burst. I wasn’t able to open the machine in order to attempt a repair as it had been assembled with non-stainless steel screws which had rusted (which I think is a shoddy).

It undoubtedly makes great coffee and the milk frother is fab but I found it a bit difficult at the start. It took me a while to realise what all the various flashing lights meant. It is also important to empty the coffee grinds and clean the milk frother every time.
I would make on average 5 cups a day and was surprised that after 4 weeks of use the orange descaling light came on. This process took quite a long time.
Honestly it’s a good looking machine and makes great coffee but takes time to get to understand i

I thought I’d wait a couple of weeks to review and I have done but can honestly say this is my favourite purchase on Amazon to date. Its so easy to use and the coffee is so good. I wanted bean to cup for less waste but it also means you can chose from lots of different coffees. Its quite compact so doesn’t take a huge amount of room. Its really quick to start up and holds a lot of water. We’ve used it daily since getting it and I wish I bought one sooner.

If you’re looking for a proper espresso machine without spending 500 – this is the one. I used to have a cheap one, like those you can get for 80 or so. It produces proper coffee with proper crema and in proper quantities – both single and double shots. It heats up very very quickly compared to the cheap ones. The steam wand is super easy to clean and milk does not stick to it.

One thing that I don’t like is that once you’ve finished making espresso, there is still enough pressure in the filter to make a nice mess when attempting to remove it. Sometimes coffee sticks to the hot water dispenser and you have to clean it – not very often but still. You can wait a minute or so for the pressure to dissipate but when you’re making two or more coffees it can be annoying.

    PROS:
    – makes proper coffee
    – has different settings (e.g. for different levels of water hardness)
    – has a cup warmer on top
    – very easy and quick operation once you get the hang of it
    – easy to clean

    CONS:
    – coffee filter – an issue with the residual pressure

All in all, I’m extremely HAPPY with the purchase. The machine is slim, sturdy, of good quality and it seems to be performing really well.

Read the negative comments for laughs… People write negative comments after blocking the machine with milk that they poured to the water container thinking that’s the way to produce hot frothy milk. Really worth checking.

I love this espresso machine. The coffee it makes is excellent and it easy to make the milk foam. It takes little space, is sturdy and easy to use. The water tank is a bit small, and I do not think the water filter does anything besides getting loose. In comparison to an earlier machine I used, this one needs about double the amount of coffee for the same strengths.

Really good home coffee machine for the price. We have the silver one and it is a nice quality/looking machine. Doesn’t take up much space in our kitchen with limited work surface and was pleasantly surprised that you can change the heat the water gets to and amount of water that comes through your espresso. It also has a cup heater but that heats up after you’ve made a coffee so for our house where we only use it twice a day we don’t get much use from this. It is a bit fiddly to change the settings but as long as you read the manual its alright and once you have it set how you want its straightforward. It’s also really easy to get a good froth for your latte or cappuccino if that’s something you’re inexperienced with. Good for a household where you’ll be making one or two cups at a time if you’re using the milk frother as when it gets hot you have to vent it (to cool the water so it doesn’t burn the next espresso) to go back and forth between that and making the next coffee, or let the coffee crema die on the earlier ones and do the milk in one go. But that’s to be expected. It’s just something to consider if you’ve not owned a machine before and want it for when you have a few guests. A pod machine might be more suitable for you. We’re pretty happy with it for the price. The size works well for our current household. Good delonghi quality.

This is a great little coffee maker. The end result is a coffee just like the ones at the coffee shops. It is very easy to use however a bit difficult to set up all the modes. I still haven’t managed to set up the coffee temperature to the hottest but I will keep trying. It gives great instructions however I still found it difficult.

The flavour of the coffee is amazing and I think you can really use any type of coffee and still get an amazing taste. I use Lavazza for mine and it is beautiful.

The milk frother function is a god send as I used to froth my milk in a french press and it was messy and took too much of my time. It literally takes me 2 min to make a proper caramel/ vanilla latte.

It doesn’t take up too much space either and it is really easy to clean.

    5 stars out of 5!!

    A GOD SEND!!!

Fairly simple to setup with settings and manual pretty straight forward. Makes good coffee and would recommend for a real coffee lover!

Takes a little time to master inserting the coffee arm attachment in but apart from that really easy to use and clean. And the compact size means its not taking up too much bench space.

This is our 4th De’Longhi coffee maker. We have had the combi one in the past but realised that we did not use the jug coffee very often so decided on this version as it takes up less room. Absolutely love it. Having had coffee makers in the past it is quite easy to get the hang of it. It is quicker and quieter than our previous models and like how the coffee automatically stops. The other coffee maker needed watching to make sure you stopped it when full. Set up to deliver 2 doses of coffee and we use Carte Noir dosettes from France which are like a coffee bag so no messy ground coffee but the same great taste. We drink a lot of coffee and this suits us really well. Would recommend.

This machine does everything that you want from a coffee machine, plus it is compact in a small kitchen.
Espresso is easy, needs a bit of experiment for cappuccino
The instructions could be a bit clearer but I suggest trying thing out and then go back and re-read and things will become clearer.
