Very handy for speed and confined spaces with plenty of power. I’d buy a cheaper one if replacing with a mains powered variable speed in preference. Dewalt do a more expensive 2 speed version but I find there’s just too much speed most times. You can reduce with trigger pressure but because you need a firm grip as soon as you start cutting you can’t maintain the pressure. Quality as you’d expect from dewalt and handy because it takes my batteries but I wouldn’t buy a single or dual speed again.
Like most DeWalt kit this is well made and does the job well. The advantage of this version is that if you already have the DW batteries and charger, say from a drill, you do not need to buy them all over again. Which makes the tool an absolute bargain as the whole concept is brilliant and you can achieve in moments things which traditionally would have taken an age.
One of those tools which, until you buy one, you do not realise what you have been missing and how useful it is.
Registered it with dewalt for 3 year guarantee.
People who posted reviews saying they can’t register it? maybe they should learn to read. It was so easy to get the 3 year guarantee.
I went round the garden trying it on all bits of wood just for the sake of trying it. Was amazing how easy it was to use.
Purchased for my son to add to his dewalt collection as he’s just starting out as an apprentice engineer. Great tool with lots of applications. So good Infact that I may need to purchase one myself
All my tools are dewalt but this just ate my batteries and didn’t do a good job.
Had to use my mains multitool with a v long mains extension to get the job done
Bought this for a couple of jobs. This is a very versatile tool and holds up to every job I have used it for.
Great for any D I Y jobs around the house.
As an occasional DIYer, this tool is fantastic for so many little jobs around the house. I used it recently to cut down a tall bookcase into 2 smaller ones. Amazing. And as it’s a dewalt, the quality is superb.
My biggest gripe is with Dewalt. They make it difficult/impossible to register the 3 year warranty. If you put in the model number written on the tool, it gets rejected as un-recognised. Very frustrating and I think dewalt are purposely doing this
Bought this DCS355N-XJ multitool as needed something larger and more powerful than my smaller Tacklife multitool. Soon made use of it and it proved very useful when cutting out wooden Christmas decorations. Takes a bit of practice to get relatively straight cuts freehand (ie without any additional/optional guides, but went ok. Did cheat though as made dimensions of decoration template larger than width of cutting blade to reduce wastage.
Does what it says on the tin. Quality product again from Dewalt, yes you pay for the name a little but the item will last another few years before needing replacement and will provide hundreds of hours of work for me seamlessly
Thanks
So far this has been a great piece of kit. Well worth the money.
All my stuff is Dwalt, this takes my 18V batteries & blades from 2nd tier suppliers.
I just enjoy a bit of DIY & have recently started up grading all my kit to DEWALT. It is a very good bit of kit & does the job. However it is nearly twice the size of my old cheap mains powered one. I’ve only got small hands. so freedom from cable but restricted by over all size & weight if you put a big battery on it.
This is my third Dewalt tool now and your not just paying for a named brand your paying for a quality product with a lot of umph for a battery (I use 4ah batteries)
Liked everything that the multi tool has to offer would recommend
Does exactly what you expect it to do. Great purchase and a good price.
used this tool a few times so i cant comment on reliability. its such a versatile tool. used it to cut out a hole in ply to fit a socket and worked a treat. brilliant for cutting mild steel and trimming bolts. great for sanding. light objects need to be placed in a vice or weighed down to stop them moving while cutting and i would recommend using ear fenders or ear plugs due to the loud noise. the trigger seems a little on the cheap side
The best little buy I’ve made to replace my corded version, great power and so versatile
Our corded multi-tool died so decided to try a cordless this time. Makes it so much more convenient to use! Really like the way the bits clip on and off, it’s quick and feels secure. It’s also nice to have the option of using it for short bursts with the trigger or locking the trigger if you are going to be using it for a while so you don’t have to hold the trigger down all the time. The only reason I knocked off 1 star if that it is not as powerful as our old corded one was.
Unlike the Makita version which is like holding a brick this DEWALT multi tool is a dream to hold fits nicely in your hand and not oversized.
As I already have a couple of dewalt 18v XR tools I decided to buy this on its own, Buying a “naked” unit and using my existing batteries made sense to me! Would highly recommend the unit and the seller! 100% 5*
I purchased this and was torn between it and a Ryobi as I already have a Ryobi tool but I also have a Dewalt drill. I made the right decision buying the Dewalt as it is robust and does the job better than expected.
Super flexible, very powerful. Excellent tool, wasnt sure if i would use it a lot but probably now my most used tool.
Dont hesitate.
Purchased this as a cordless and therefore more versatile option, no extension leads up ladders. I already had several DeWalt cordless tools and 18v batteries and have found them reliable with good battery life. I made the mistake of previously purchasing a corded Bosch Multi-tool with star-lock tool fixing, which limited my choice of blades and fittings to only the expensive ones from Bosch. The DeWalt has a shared universal tool mounting system so plenty of choice to be found at competitive prices.
Brushless motor quick change blades and led working light professional product that gets job done
ice and easy to use, i was recommended this by a local carpenter as I needed to turn the solid wall of the T.A.R.D.I.S. into a door, so the front opens as double doors fully (as you do).
Took a while to do but did the job extremely well, although i’d suggest a few extra blades for that as i went through 4 or 5 (it’s 18mm thick plywood I was cutting through).
Pleased with the end result though, but still need to do the back doors and then move it in front of the shed so it’ll be bigger on the inside!
Hopefully it’ll do for the next Doctor as well 😉
Amazing tool, how did I survive so long without one. Powerful and easy to use. Unfortunately the accessories that come with this package are not the best, sanding pads don’t last long at and couldn’t cut through a small nail with the metal cutter. Making sure you have this in mind I still don’t regret my purchase
Excellent tool, made a job fitting some door furniture an absolute piece of cake. Cannot believe I never had one before!
Bought to do some plunge cuts to square off posts before splicing new wood into them. Perfect tool for the job.
Used many times since. The wood cutting blades don’t last that long, although cutting is quick and with care clean.
Tool itself, when bought as a bare unit is very good value for money. Genuine batteries tend to be quite expensive so don’t forget to factor that in to any purchasing decisions.
I’m not in the habit of awarding 5* ratings, but here’s the exception. Wish I’d got one a long time ago. Have used it few times now, and with the interchangeable battery from my cordless drill, it’s really done the business, i.e. cutting through corrugated plastic to finite wood cutting. Agreat tool!!
I had a cheap 240v multitool and decided to treat myself to the 18v XR De-Walt version and even though it was a bit pricey it is worth every penny.
Used loafs and not once let me dow
Item was not even in a dewalt cardboard box. There was also no manual.
It did include the dewalt additional accessories though(vacuum attachment, extra blades etc).
How did I manage all these years without one of these, makes work a dodle
I own a corded one of these, the battery version saves the hastle of extension
leads etc, gets you out of so many problems in the building trade.
Once you own one you will know what I mean. Multiple uses.
