This is a great tool. I had a cheap one a few years ago and it broke after 2 months.

My favourite thing is the quick release cutters. Saves so much bother. If I had the budget, I would go for the battery operated version. But this is worth every penny.

    DeWalt quality and build.
Coming from an engineering background of over 40 years, I always believed in purchasing superior quality tools, the first time I purchased a DeWalt tool was in 2001 a cordless battery powered hammer drill and that lasted me without any issues for over 20 years. Between then and now I have acquired a lot of the DeWalt tools including tools with the latest brushless technologies, now I intend to shop around for cordless version of this multi tool which has brushless technology.

I have been using it for sanding into corners of door frames etc, removing old glue and it’s brilliant. I can easily change all of the heads and will hopefully use all in the future. Workmen had asked could they use it as they had popped in last minute to me, they loved it, one guy commented on the power and ease of use in comparison to what they had, the other commented that you get what you pay for, therefore, from a trademans comments it’s a good piece and it seems the price is worth it.

A multi-tool is a great fitters tool. I bought this more because I needed a detail sander. Detail sanders have largely been replaced with multi-tools for obvious reasons, so this review tends to be more towards sanding than anything else.
Firstly, I think the kit you get with the mains powered multi-tool makes it really great value. You get a ton of extras.
A case is essential for any tool in my mind, particularly a mutli-tool to keep all those extras together. This one has a foam interior which I never liked because they are dust magnets. I like DeWalt, but they often fall flat with their cases. They are badly designed and this multi-tool is no exception. You can’t place the unit in the case without removing the attached tool and more importantly the vacuum adapter. The adapter screws in place so you have to get a screwdriver to add/remove it every time you use the multi-tool as a sander. Not bright thinking DeWalt. You can bodge it by cutting some of the foam off and placing the multi-tool in the case upside down. I mean I discovered that in less than five minutes. Why didn’t DeWalt?
The tool is very similar to the right angle drill. It’s light and reasonably powerful. The cable is long, thin, felxible and light, making it easy to use.
I particularly like the quick replace head on the DeWalt, it’s rally fast and really handy.
Compared the DeWalt detail sander the multi-tool is about the same weight and feels about the same power. The multi-tool makes a more rattly noise though so no points for being quiet. The dust extraction is good but not as good at the detail sander. The attachment seems in an awkward place on the multitool and often gets in the way. The vacuum adapter for the detail sander is absolutely excellent and works extremely well the only minor problem with that is that DeWalt no longer supply the nozzle as standard, you have to buy it from DeWalt.
The vacuum attachment on the multi-tool fits the adapter I bought for a Bosch sander. It’s actually a Karcher adapter that I bought that from amazon.

    https://smile.amazon.co.uk/K%C3%A4rcher-Wet-Vacuum-Power-Tools/dp/B004INB0NG/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=karcher+tool+vacuum+hose&qid=1648893835&sr=8-4

The one big problem with this dewalt is the speed control. Although the trigger has variable speed there is no preset wheel. This is actually a really serious fault. It’s not possible to maintain an even pressure on the switch all the time so the tool tends to be revving all over the place which is really inconvenient. Although there is a lock on the tool, this only operates at maxiumum rpm. So all in all this is a major fail, especially for sanding.

The multi-tool is not quite as good as the detail sander but where it really shines is it’s ability to do other jobs. If you only need a detail sander then buy a detail sander. I slightly regret letting my old sander go. Having said that, I am absolutely sure I will find a million new jobs I can tackle with the multi-tool that I used to tackle with a hammer and (usually blunt) chisel.

This tool truly is the ‘multi tool’. The number of uses, range of options and overall versatility coupled with the usual DeWalt reliability make this the go to tool for lots of cutting, filing, shaping and finishing jobs.

The Dewalt Multi tool saved me quite a bit of money when I found damp in a Garage conversion . It’s now a bedroom and has been for 15 years. So when the skirting board was looking way past it’s best situated behind a wardrobe. I decided to splash out on this tool and cut through the skirting board with ease. Behind the framework had dry rot and damp in the timber frame behind the skirting board . The timber was 3×2 with nails securing same. So using a specific Metal wood cutter that came with the Dewalt cut out all of the framework and cut through the nails. ( l needed to replace the blade after the work was completed)
Replaced with new timber and replaced the skirting board I couldn’t have done this job without the Dewalt multi tool. This product was 10 cheaper than Screwfix at the time of buying.

Used this tool for cutting up 20mm MDF that had been stuck down to my kitchen floor. I used a few saw blades, but it did an amazing job. I also used it as a sander and found it very effective.
Versatile tool, neatly stored in a sturdy case with plenty of accessories.
    Would happily recommend it.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersLike most dewalt tools, this multi tool is well made and seems like it will last a long time. It was bought to replace a cheaper make that lasted only five minutes, and so far it certainly seems to be living up to its name. The downside is the included blades. After only ten minutes use in soft floorboarding two of the blades were spent. I Sent for a pack of 25 cheap replacements, and after using them on the same floorboarding for a week, I am still on the first blade. Dewalt really need to look at the quality of the included blades.

This tool is easy to use. The blades attach easily using the clamp and a wide variety of suppliers blades will fit. The cord length is more than enough. The vibration when in use is not that much as to be problematic. I have used ear defenders even using it so no problem with noise either.

I got this to do detail sanding around spindles which the mouse should do. I didnt expect it to work so well Ipresumed its main function was all the other things. LOVE it for sanding. Havent used it for anything else yet. Gets right into corners and takes off the varnish immediately. Simple to use and got it for a great price on amazon.

Really impressed with this tool, I have used it fir numerous jobs already, refurbished our stairs this came in handy for cutting mortises and tenons and sanding, my only complaint with this tool is the actual sanding attachment is not very durable as it does start to disintegrate. This is unfortunate the concept is good and the dust extraction excellent. I’m probably going to have to replace the sanding head now soon. I’m also going to buy some additional blades for the saw but you do get a really good assessment with the tool.

I’m really happy with my purchase, I know there are cheaper ones out there but you do get what you pay for especially with dewal

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersVery versatile tool that can replace a number of tools in the tool bag. It is also reasonably small and lightweight so it can get to some places that other tools cant reach. Very easy to change the blades / attachments and very easy operation. Longer power flex than most of my other tools (by other manufacturers). As with most Dewalt tools, you pay a bit extra for ‘quality’, but in this case, the extra is probably worth it. It feels like a good quality tool.

A tremendous bit of kit, makes most jobs much easier. Some other reviews criticise the Sander element, but it does the type of sanding its designed to do, but if you have a lot of sanding your better with a suitable sander, but as a multitool this is excellent.

An overdue project to regrout a bathroom had been finally challenged. The use of hand rakes and cheaper electrical grout removing tools were having no effect. An internet review of the best grout removal tools recommended the Dewalt.
Purchased in good faith and was not dissapointed. The grout carbide blade and the Dewalt oscillating motion made short work of removing the grout to a good depth.
Albeit not yet used, the supplementary attachments make this package a worthwhile purchase for the DIYer. Would definately recommend.
