I have a chronically underheated room and was desperate to find a heating solution that would warm the place up and not break the bank in the process. This heater was a top pick from Which? magazine and I wasn’t disappointed. It heats the place up remarkably quickly, and thanks to its in-built thermostat it switches itself off when the target temperature is reached. The oscillation function helps distribute the heat evenly, and the solid stand means there’s no danger of knocking it over by accident.
Very impressed –infinitely better than other free-standing heaters I’ve used in the past.
Lovely slim heater that fits perfectly in the corner until use good heat output that heats room very quickly.
Use to warm conservatory and the thermostat works very well. The heater is a lot quieter than other heaters and Im very pleased with it.
Bought this because it was recommended by Which and they were right it is a great heater and worth the high price tag.
We recently moved into a flat with old-style Overnight storage heaters which work but not as a ‘need heat now!’ solution. We got this as a way to bring warmth into the front room ‘now’ in ‘cold snaps’ when the storage heating isn’t on. Most people think this is a speaker tower and ‘easy on the eye’. The controls are simple, both the remote and on the heater itself. It has done what we wanted, though as yet we have only used it for cold evenings and not as a main heating source (though we didn’t want this!). The oscillate function is quite comprehensive and gives us what we wanted. Noise is ‘quiet’ compared to some of the heaters we have had. Great for our needs.
The LEDs are too bright for a bedroom at night, it makes a lot of noise when operational so if you’re a light sleeper you may have issues. Overall it looks good and works well so far.
Great product all though been told by our electrician it cost is s little high but great for this weather.
Works very well to boost room heating on very cold days. Recommended
I saw this recommended in Which?. I’m using it for my outside cabin which I’ve used all winter for entertaining and parties. The heater is the only heat source and is super efficient and for an electric heater quite economical. I can’t recommend it enough XX
We have been using this for over a year now and it’s still going strong. We eventially purchased a few other heaters that were not the same make but they didn’t end up being as good as this one. This heater has a great fan in it so it gets a room heated fast.
I like the heater, so far so good but one thing that needs to be said that glass base comes unattached to the heater and the way has been designed not very good, because bottom of the heater goes in to the glass base to stand on is plastic, I am sure if by accident the heaters falls on its side it will be over, will break and no way of repairing it.. Also it has no safety switch..
I live in a flat and have a living room/kitchen area which is medium sized but can be very cold in winter, Wall heater did nothing much so purchased this and it does the job brilliantly, area toasty warm in less than an hour and thermostat means it stops once at desired temperature, only problem is that it does seem to get quite cold before it starts again more than the 3 degrees below setting.
Used every day since purchase . Looks great , heats up the room quickly , very pleased. Would but again and agai
Such a great heater. It warms up the room in 5 minutes.
Bought this tower heater to heat our newly built 5x3metre conservatory and it does not disappoint. Stylish and solid design. Very intuitive controls on the heater and the remote. Even allowing for the echoey acoustics of the yet to be furnished space, the fan is not too noisy. The solid base has a rubber pad under each foot (a nice detail).
Some reviews I’ve read suggest that it might be a bit noisy but I would strongly disagree. I’ve used many fan heaters over the years, including over the door versions and various towers and this is the best I’ve had.
Versatile product, easy to use, very portable and heats up a chilled room expertly.
Style perfect. Use in between central heating times if needed
The product looks lovely. Have bought it for my hall, but not cold enough yet to use it much. Throws out a good heat.
Really easy to install, you just have to put the base on using a large plastic screw (no tools required) and off you go. It has a fairly noisy fan so it’s probably not what you want running if you’re watching the TV, but the upside of that fan is that it heats the room very quickly. There’s a temperature readout on the front, you can set the heater to oscillate left and right, and there’s an easy to use remote control (a single watch battery, provided). The heater also cools itself down when you turn it off, which is a nice touch. Safer, I suppose. It also looks really nice, in fact you’d think at first glance it’s a B&O speaker or something. Much prettier than the wheeled oil-filled radiators I was also looking at.
Looks excellent only 4 stars because I have little chance to use it, the winter will tell
Looks great. Appears to be well made. Produces an amazing amount of heat. Very quiet – I have no idea why some reviewers have complained about the noise. My one reservation is that the fan does not produce a very strong air flow. It heats the room but it does not blow hot air on anyone setting near it. When we first got it I thought it might be defective but on closer examination it is a single speed fan continually set on slow. In terms of air flow, it is comparable to our Dyson heater. On topic of Dyson, the Dimplex is cheaper by far and heats better. Fortunately, we have a cheap blower fan heater to supplement our Dimplex and Dyson hearters.
This is an ideal size and shape for what I need. It was easy to set up and worked immediately. It is very effective at covering a narrow space with a high ceiling.
Great fan heater, I have had no issues with the thermostat during my initial experiments which makes me think that at least one reviewer may have a faulty unit.
I suspect that the ambient temperature is measured at the point where the fans draw air into the heater so with a this type of heater the air in front of the unit is likely to be quite a bit higher than that behind it which will make controlling a rooms temperature a challenge, particularly if the heater is placed close to a wall or corner where the air is dead. The thermostat does respond but certainly lags a little behind the bulk temperature.
My major criticism is the length of the mains lead; with instructions recommending against the use of an extension lead, the supplied lead is simply too short at just 1.6m (Typical for Dimplex). Realistically in many cases you will have to use an extension lead, (there really should be no problem using a high quality 13A single outlet extension lead with a cable spec of 1.25mm^2 or better and a good low resistance socket (carefully check for hot pins on the heater plug immediately after use, warm is okay, too hot to touch is not)).

A great device I am pleased with it to date
This is a fast warm the room up , and has that quiet hot air fan which is great , on top of that it not only works good it has a lovely appeal to it ,
Looks good , heats good , because it is good.
It is in our north facing carpeted bedroom because central heating does not heat the whole room enough to be comfortable when temperatures drop in winter time. It only comes on for a short period if it needs to reach the requested temperature we have set it and for a fan heater it is relatively quiet.
Excellent well worth it, warms a room in no time.
his is a very good heater it doesn’t take up much room there is a slight noise but it doesn’t bother me . and there is no strong draught .very good
Very stylish & perfect when just need a boost in the morning/evening but not the heating o
Works well as heater and looks good not tried to program it ye
Had this for a couple of weeks so can’t speak to long term reliability but, for the price, the unit is very well designed and constructed and the remote control is a great features.
Only quibble is with how some of the controls work, for instance:
* When put into standby mode the unit forgets its high/low power and sweep left/right setting. When coming out of standby the unit defaults to low power and non-oscillating mode, so you need to set these every time if that’s not how you want it. Kinda annoying given that mechanical switches would have at least remember your last settings. The unit does remember the thermostat setting in standby.
* When coming out of standby mode with the room already hotter than the selected thermostat temperature, the unit runs for about 20 seconds and then turns off, even when the room was obviously hot enough already and no heating was required. This might be to pull air through the unit and onto the internal thermometer so the temperature reading reflects the room temp but it’s still feels odd when it happens.
* When going into standby mode with the fan & heater running, the unit runs for about 10 seconds before actually turning off. This might be to run room-temp air over the heating element to cool it down before going into standby mode but, again, it still feels odd when it happens.
* By detault, pressing the +/- buttons on the remote does not adjust the selected thermostat temperature, it does nothing. To adjust the thermostat temp by even s single degree you have to press the ‘mode’ button twice (once to get the ‘timer’ setting and then a second time to get the thermostat setting) then press +/- as required and then press ‘mode’ again to confirm the change. This is pretty clunky given that tweaking the temp is the thing I do most often and I personally don’t use for the timer (and if I did I wouldn’t mind if it was de-prioritised in favour of the temp setting).
That said, don’t let these quibbles put you off, this is a great heater and the remote control will leave you wondering how you ever managed to use a room heater without one!
Good product, a little bit noisy but gives off good heat and keeps our room nice and warm.
Haven’t yet worked out how to connect the bluetooth.
Very good product and stylish. Heats up a room very quickly.
We are really please with how this works just a little expensive if you rely on it for heating.
Have this in my bedroom mainly for when I’m taking a shower in my on suite.
Remote useful from using from my bed.
Easy to use, timer easy to use and useful.
Stylish, practical and powerful. The lack of a programmable timer function might be a problem for some, but not for us. Quieter than other fan heaters we’ve owned, but it’s not silent!
We have been looking for over a year for a stylish, reasonably quiet and efficient heater and this certainly fits the bill. For the price and compared to normal floor fan heaters this is a cracking heater and highly recommended.
Pros
Good build quality and finish. Only small comment is that there is a little play in the base unit but this is not a problem.
Stylish. A modern slim-line black and silver heater.
Quieter than most. Not so much that it is quieter but it hums as opposed the higher pitched noise that most heaters make. I would say it is acceptably noisy rather than quiet and is fine if you are watching TV with the heater a few feet away.
Effective. Using the oscillation mode the heat is spread throughout the room and it soon warms up.
Remote operation. The remote control is simple to use and is very useful.
Functions. Two heating levels, timer, thermostatic control.
Cons
Thermometer over reads by 1 to 2 degrees; probably because it is integrated into the heater. Just take this into account when you set the thermostat.
It looks good and makes a realistic imitation of a speaker and needs very little space. Heat output is what is expected from it’s rating. Understanding operating instructions of the remote control is, for me, a bit of a mystery so far but then I’m old in years and fashion so perhaps it’s me
Excellent heater, we use it in our conservatory it heats it up in about 20 min’s.
Love it, remote is a great feature. Heats a large bedroom up in a few moments.
I highly recommend if you do not want to turn on your central heat!
Best heater we have ever bought. Stylish and very efficient. Use it in our conservatory and heats up perfectly.
Excellent, quickly warms up a large kitchen on cold days. Rather than turning on the central heating we tend gather in the kitchen. Helps to have a nice table and comfortable chairs in the kitchen together with a TV. Saving us money!
ARRIVED BEFORE ESTIMATED TIME, VERY STYLISH & POWERFUL HEATER, EXCELLENT PURCHASE.
Does what it says it does on the tin. Those who say that theres stopped after a few minutes don’t understand hoe to set it up. Follow the instructions and the set tempreture will control the on/off.
Works well when required and is really useful during a cold snap.
It does the best it can to warm my open plan room. Only thing I find its to heavy to pick up. Other than that it’s stylish and keeps us toasty.
Love the look , heat output great , just could be less noisy but not that intrusive .
Looks good. Easy to assemble and use. A little bit noisy but not too bad. Easy to carry from room to room.
This heater has a great heat off it, great for the money
bought this which has been given 81% BEST BUY from WHICH for my mum, who lives in a small one bedroom bungalow and she loves it and it heats the whole place. Very impressed with the style as it looks like a speaker and doesn’t take up too much room. Well worth the money !!!
so far a very good product as it heats up the room very quickly and easy to operate
Have bought one myself after my sister was delighted with the one I bought her. Heats a room very quickly, has a handy remote and good timer functions very simple and easy to use in my new, unheated study.
Looks really nice! Heated our living room very fast and it’s handy it switch itself off when u set up timer! Also the remote is handy when u don’t want to get up from ur bed in the morning:) Very pleased with my purchase so far.
Very stylish as far as heaters go. I would say this heater is good for a smaller sized room. I bought it for the corner of my living room and it is great if it’s a closed / smaller space. I would buy again if I wanted a bit more warmth in my bedroom.
Great tower fan heater. Easy to use controls and supplied remote control.
Well built and reliable.
Attractive modern design.
Recommended.
Excellent heater, even heats my garage on a cold day.
Good overall heater, does well what it is supposed to do. Easier to control temperature with the remote as pushing the control buttons, which are at the top of the unit, make the unit unstable. Looks good. Only four stars because still too noisy for me, but then I believe that most heaters are.
stylish, unobtrusive, simple to operate, more than effective thermostatically controlled heating. Value for money without a doubt.
Absolutely fantastic. It is well designed, works perfectly and i love the remote controller. Highly recommended
Excellent Heater
quiet on low speeds a little noiser on the higher speeds
We use it in a large room and it works well within 10 mins you can notice a temperature increase very pleased tried several different heaters over the years this one works the best so far also its pleasing to the eye blends in with the tv and hifi
Great heater. We were thinking of buying the Dyson heater/cooler, but thought it was a lot of money to spend out so we decided to give this a go. We use it to warm our conservatory up so we can have dinner in there when the weather is cold. It takes around 3 minutes to get the conservatory from freezing to toastie warm.
If you’re thinking of buying a heater, buy this one.
Used it recently to heat a marquee and did an excellent job. A lot of people commented on design.
Very stylish. Looks good in my conservatory. Haven’t had need to use it much yet, but seems to throw out enough heat for my average sized conservatory. I would recommend.
Does the job but is noisy! Not for night-time use.
Taller than you might imagine and certainly not invisible in the room. I use it to heat the lounge rather than put the central heating on for the whole house. It would blend in better in an office but It doesn’t take up any floor space as such and I hide it behind a sofa when not in use. It certainly gets a room toasty hot in quick time and the oscillation mode ensures it fills all corners. It is mildly fiddly to work out how it is set up but if you demand little of it but to heat a room you won’t have a problem. The anti-topple safety feature has never proved to be a problem. It produces a fan noise as you’d expect but no more or less than you would expect. If a TV or radio is on you don’t notice and if you need to doze off the warmth will promote that and the noise is inconsequential.
Excellent heater which I use in my conservatory, a notoriously bad place to keep warm. The oscillating function soon spreads the warmth to all corners. Good value and quick delivery as always with Amazo
Just bought this heater, heats up our kitchen in no time! Does exactly what it’s meant to do, not noisy and also looks really good. The remote is really useful, allows you to get it going without having to bend over and fiddle with the heater. I like the fact that you can set the teacher and it will turn on and off once the temperature is reached. Also you can set how long you want the heater to run for, so you don’t have the to worry about switching it off. The oscillating function is brilliant and it looks really cool. All in all, we are really glad we have gone for this heater.
Very efficient heating unit and warms our large lounge quite quickly. Well designed and looks good.
Would have no problem recommending this item.
This is a TOWER HEATER ,not as described.Very good product.would recommend it.
Excellent – rapid fast heat up. Looks great and no problem with tip switch. Works brilliantly. EVen has remote – v handy.
This Dimplex Ceramic Tower heater is ultra-easy to put together (I didn’t need a single 12 year old). Ultra-easy to use. Remote control is foolproof (and being a fool that’s very handy). It’s an ultra-efficient fan heater. Will heat smaller to medium sized rooms up very quickly, larger rooms take a little more time but this slim tower will meet the challenge. It has two power settings (1.5 and 2.5 Kw), the lower setting will maintain the room temperature and is energy efficient, too. I used it a lot over a 2 – 3 week period, it added only about 1 KwH to my electricity usage.
Only minor niggles: 1) fan’s a bit noisy (but that’s probably a feature of it being a fan) 2) thermostat may not show the room’s actual ambient temperature. I was using my heater to heat my lounge, due to no central heating, however the lounge is also where the central heating thermostat is. I found the heater showed a far lower temperature consistently than the CH. When the heater showed 18 centigrade the CH showed 23 – 24 c. When the former showed 21 c. the CH was up at 28 – 30 c. Uncomfortably warm. This may be due to where the fan heater’s thermostat is placed relative to the floor, but I don’t know.
But, this differential being allowed for it’s a great, great buy, and real value for money at 80. If you’ve recently spent 350 plus on a Dyson tower heater eat your heart out (a friend has and this Dimplex is more than equal to the task and 270 less).
Would recommend in a heartbeat to people who need emergency heating, or just want an occasional supplement. Despite the minor niggles, I have to give it 5 stars because I do LOVE it.
A little noisy in use but looking very good and working very well.
Really pleased with the purchase of the Dimplex Tower Heater. It was purchased with our conservatory in mind and we could not have chosen anything better. It takes up very little space and operates from a remote control, the temperature can be set and once the heat is reached it will automatically turn itself off and back on again when it cools down. We cannot rate this item highly enough.
Excellent product and service purchased this item as it was recommended, it looks great and warms the room so quickly
I bought this fan after trying a similar Delonghi model. The issues with the Delonghi model were that it had an auto tip over shut off system that kept turning off the unit even though it was still perfectly upright. This was more common on the oscillation.
This unit arrived yesterday and it is very very similar to the delonghi in terms of size, however this feels a little more study and the bass being made of a glass or ceramic disk is much heavier and stylish. It is easy to put together with just the base attached to the main unit with a small plastic nut. The unit has high/low setting and you can put the preferred temperature to reach. It will run until it hits this temperature then auto shut off. It will turn on when the temperature drops again.
The unit is relatively quiet compared to other similar units and much quieter than the smaller units. The heat output is sufficient to heat a decent sized room to a comfortable level (it is -1 outside as I write this review).
The unit is controllable on a small disk at the top or via remote control. Much like the Delonghi the remote control will only operate when the fan is facing you which means you have to wait for it to oscillate towards you before you can shut it off.
Overall I am very pleased with this fan in as much as it works very well as a heater and is relatively quiet. My only quibble is that it cannot be used as a cool air blower like many other units. This would have really made this an excellent heater.
Very pleased! Smart and stylish, quiet, emits instant heat, easy to operate. I particularly like the heat cutout when the room reaches the programmed temperature. AMAZON: please amend the name of this product from Towel Heater to Tower Heater!!
A very efficient heater, as a bonus it looks good and does not take up a lot of room when not in use. Easily the best electric heater that I have owned.
This tower (not towel) heater does an excellent job of quickly warming up a room. We use it in the bedroom where the remote allows us warm the room before getting out of bed. This is not designed to heat or dry towels.
A great looking heater can sit anywhere in our house without looking cheap or like a heater even! works really well and the remote is a good idea.I do wish it had a timer in it so you could set it to heat up a space before you entered it say overnight, rather than the timer it comes with which just turns it off. other than that it heats a room quickly and is actually quite quiet. Just wished this winter had been a bit colder as haven’t needed to use it as often as i would have liked too.
Bought for the daughter to augment the heating to their conservatory.
Looks to be well-built and proved a lot cheaper than a comparable Dyson heater which looked to have received mixed reviews elsewhere.
On purchasing this product (two infact) I was looking for a movable heat source that was quick and effective. The units do emit more noise than expected but as long as you do not sit on “on top” of them then they are fine. You can control the unit directly from the console on the front or via the small credit card sized remote control (battery included).
The unit can oscillate if desired to help spread out heat more quickly and has a low or high heat setting. The user can set the heater to go off at a pre-determined temperature setting and the heater will automatically come on and go off to maintain that temperature. Alternatively the user may set the heater to come on for a set period of time (increments of 1 hour – up to something like 12 hours) at which point it will switch itself off. If the user selects a time setting please note the unit will stay on constantly until the time set has been achieved.
Please note that when you turn the heater off it will seemingly continue to run….do not worry this is a deliberate design feature whereby the fans continue to run for approx 10 seconds without heat to bring the unit’s heat down before shutting down.
The unit is a very elegant yet sturdy design and looks more like a free standing speaker than a heater, with a classy heavy black glass circular base for stability. All in all an excellent product with a super smart design thrown in for good measure. I would recommend this heater to a friend.
it looks good and it works well and its pretty quiet too, it saved a lot of space as it replaced my LPG heate
This heater is powerful, looks nice, it’s smart, quiet, space-saving and very easy to operate!
Don’t believe any of the negative comments left.
Definitely recommended!
works a treat in my conservatory easy to use warms the room up in no time easy on electrical as well
I have been very pleased with this purchase so far. Delivered promptly and easily assembled ready for use. (Fasten the base on is all that is required). So far it works well in my lounge which is about twenty feet by ten feet. The remote control is very useful. There is one thing that I’m not sure is a good thing or a bad thing. Several visitors have asked me about my new speaker.
Excellent fast dispatch of item and delivery. Is quite noisy but does not drown out the television. Heats room up in super quick time. Would recommend to others.
We first saw this heater in use in a restaurant and thought ‘what a great design’. I bought two to heat a room that is only used for two short periods each week. They could be switched on by a time switch – I thought. NO THEY CAN’T !. They do everything it says on the tin, but they revert to ‘standby’ when the power goes off. I checked with Dimplex and they confirm that they cannot be used with time switches. This is a great heater with many neat features but do not buy it if you need to switch it on remotely.
Bought it based on the reviews but mainly because of how it looks, it’s really smart and looks fantastic. Friend thought it was a large standing speaker. The touch screen buttons are really good and the remote control is a nice touch. Can be a bit tricky to set it to a particular temperature but if you’re happy for it to fluctuate around a bit it’s no big deal. Is a bit noisy when it’s on, but does kick out a fair bit of heat. Loses a mark for noise but design and ease of use make up for the rest.
I found this while looking at the Dyson Hot. It is equivalent in most ways except that it does not blow the hot air quite as far, but it is less than a third the price. This is not a cheap heater, but the build quality justifies the price. This heater is very good value.
Very space-age, efficient, easy to use and the remote control makes it. Presetting the temperature by degrees on the digital screen, rather than the old fashioned dial is a great feature.
We’ve not used this much yet as the central heating has been on since it arrived, but it seems to do what it does well. One positive aspect is that it does not have a powerful blast from the fan blowing papers about, but it does send out warmth quite gently. It seems to fit our needs well
Works well at heating room very quickly, but not really suitable for background. Stylish and not easy to tip. Shame oil filled radiators can’t look this good.
So far so good. Provides additional heat on those cold winter days. A very effective heater that is good looking and requires very little space.
Quite stylish and as it stands upright you can put it in an out of the way place and it doesn’t take up too much floor space.
This is nice looking rotating heater in your house. It worms your room very well. It has different settings with a heat boost. I highly recommend it.
I turned it on and I was amazed how fast my room got warm 🙂
Very good heater but only one question:
My heater has very interesting sound when I move it. It sounds like small ball inside the heater.
Should be like that?
Definitely recommend!
Everything as described in the product specs. Easily accommodated in any size of a room. Very quick heat, not too noisy. I would highly recommend this as a permanent heater in a bedroom or family room or back-up in a living room.
A super heater. It has a thermostat and timer. The controls very straightforward. The heater also looks good -very stylish. It is easy to move around.
Dimplex DXSTG25 Studio G Ceramic Tower Heater, 2.5 Kilowatt
It is nice to know that I no longer have to spend a cold night in my room, wrapped up in blankets, pyjamas, thick socks and a thick hoody. I switch the new heater on and you instantly feel that chill disappear.
When it first arrived, my dad assumed it was a speaker due to the slick, black look, the tall, thin appearance, with glass base, lcd screen and remote control.
So easy to set up too. Plug it in and, regardless of whether you choose to operate it manually or via the remote control, switch it on. You can choose a high or low setting, depending on how quickly you want to heat up a room, set it to oscillate from side to side, set a timing on it so that it may go off after say 2 hours or set a maximum temperature so that once it hits 22 degrees, it will switch itself off. It is the best designed heater I have ever seen and beautiful too.
