Great tool, cut the lawn in no time. Good battery life too.

Glad we bought this as it means we dont have to trail all the extension cords out of the garage. Cuts grass just as well as mains lawnmower. Only issue was it was a bit tricky to set up and the instructions consisted of pictures which were so poor we had to use Youtube. Instructions are poor the machine is fine

Very easy to put together and the battery charged really quickly. I was mowing within the hour!
He cuts the grass really well and is so much easier to handle than my corded mower, which has been banished to a spidery corner of my garage.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersI ordered this mower as a replacement for my 13-year-old Bosch corded mower because I have been wanting to go cordless for a while now. I stuck with Bosch because I was actually very happy with my old mower and the fact that it was still going after 13 years is a testiment to how well it was built.

So, on to the review of the EasyRotak 36-550…

    Pros:
    – This will be true of any cordless mower but going from one with cables, it is wonderfully freeing not to have to deal with setting up, constantly moving the cord out the way then putting away the extension lead etc. Mowing takes half the time that it did because of this and I think I will be motivated to mow the lawn more often as a consequence.
    – Easy to assemble. Contrary to some of the other reviewers, I found the instructions adequate although they could have been bigger or focussed in where the screws are used to secure the handles. I would say it took me about 20 minutes but I was going slow and steady and am not DIY savvy by any means. Didn’t require me to get my toolbox out which was an added bonus.
    – Battery life seems decent. I can do most if not all of my medium-sized garden on one battery so it’s good to have the back up one. This mower comes with two batteries which will should be plenty enough juice for a large-ish garden.
    – It isn’t particularly noisy.
    – Large enough cutting widge to get the job done quickly whilst still being manouverable enough to follow gentle curves.

    Cons:
    – The grass box seems badly designed in that there are gaps close to where it connects to the mower where small amounts of grass are expelled along the way. I managed to fix this with some strong tape but would rather not have had to! Additionally, it’s a bit of a faff getting the grass box on and off because there isn’t a secure connection and you have to slot it in just right.
    – Weight. Whilst this is almost identical in size to my previous mower, it is a lot heavier at 16Kg compared to 9Kg. I found this noticable when pushing alomg my lawn and it’s a little more effort to get in and out of the shed. This might not bother some people but something to think about if you aren’t strong.

Overall, I think it is a good mower for a medium-sized garden. Time will tell if it is a reliable one too.

Works well leaves stripes on lawn. Small lawns but get most done on one battery charge.

  7. Jide Akinrinade says:

Cuts well, easy to use and batteries last more than long enough as long as the lawn length is maintained. Definitely better than my previous corded Flymo.

  8. TatianaRupp says:

     United Kingdom

It does the job but some things could be better. The grass box is a bit “lightweight” or Flimsy” and does not have a positive connection to the mower. The handle is not easy to fold for storage in the shed.
Overall – nowhere near as good as my original mains powered mower that “just wore out”

There is not much difference in weight between this and the corded version but it is a lot more convenient to use

Once you’ve managed to assemble the mower and worked out how to start it, it is a great mower. It is really light to manoeuvre, the grass box is a great size and cuts really close to edging. Unfortunately the instructions provided are useless and i had to rely on YouTube to put it together and get it started. Would highly recommend this mower with the caveat that the instructions are dreadful

Came well packaged, too 2 minutes to put together. Came with 2 batteries and a spare pair of gloves. Also has a rear roller. Can easily do both lawns in my house on 1 battery. To be recommended. It now takes 15 minutes to cut both lawns instead of the 45 minutes of the previous corded mower, stripes too.

No more cables I feel like I have a new life. Cut my first spring cut which was long took a few charges and did a bit a day. Then I was able to get it shorter and one battery did my big back garden and most of my front. The batteries charge quick and you can clean at the flick of a switch rather than unplugging.

I almost send it back, but once you do the first mowing of the year then it goes easier. My garden is 18mx8m. I couldn’t finish the grass with 2 batteries. Then, next week with only 1 battery I managed to do it all since grass was lower.

Very fiddly to replace the battery it also cuts out for a few seconds when mowing the lawn but then again I seem to remember the cable version also did the same a rare fault for a Bosch produc

  16. Anonymous says:

Firstly easy to put together but the build quality is not great very plasticky and lightweight however the lawnmower does what it is there to do and cuts the grass quite well ( it will not be as good as a heavy roller mower) but if you are not looking for a pristine lawn but an easy to use mower it does the job.
IMO it is well overpriced at regular pricing but i bought an open box from Amazon and that was ok.You must get a two batteries included model as one battery is not enough.
Overall as i said good but not great.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is one of the cheapest that I could find with a reputable manufacturer. I have a medium sized garden and one battery charge easily copes. If you do have a large garden then it has a second battery that you can swap for the first if it runs out of juice.
Its manoeuvrability is enhanced by the shaping of the handle grips. All in all, a very good purchase.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThis mower cuts great, however the front wheel comes off. The wheel is held on by a cap pushed on the end of the wheel rod . First use the wheel came off 3 times. I had to straighten the splines inside the cap. A week later 2nd use it came off again. The cap got lost in the flower bed somewhere. 2 hours trying to find it without success . I emailed with no reply. I rang the customer service department complain they said we are to busy to speak on the phone only option was to email again and await a reply she simply couldn’t care less. Goodbye. Rang 3 days later with same response and couldn’t care less about what I should expect for a big money item. Excuse this is our busy time. Email and wait or return it to Amazon for a refund. Which I did and waiting for pickup. Bosch make good products but don’t expect a quick answer nor any politeness . Ho-hum looking agai

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI bought this to do the first mow/top up mows around my robot mower, and it’s perfect for the job. The two batteries give me about 30 mins of mowing (which is just right for a quick go round), or I’d say about a tennis court’s worth of lawn – maybe a little more once it’s not hacking winter growth!)

Putting it together wasn’t difficult, just a little awkward, so it lost a star

The battery doesn’t always click in, so if it won’t start mowing, you need to pop it out and put it back in a bit more firmly, and I do find the grips tiring to hold, plus they do look a bit cheap and plasticy – but I wear gloves so I don’t know if they would rub.

The hopper clips on and off very easily, although emptying it through the smallish hole takes shaking unlike my flymo’s hopper.

Hence the 4 stars for easy to use.

I wish the handle would easily fold forward for storage.

The battery charges in about an hour, and has an indicator to see whether it’s charged – although that’s fairly useless as you can’t see it when it’s in the mower, and you could just put it onto the charging unit to see otherwise. In use, the mower goes from 100% to dead in less than a minute, there’s no slow decline in efficiency as it runs out of charge, which I like a lot.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersGreat little mower. Works well one our small patch of grass and especially useful as you don’t need an extension cable to do the front. Easy to adjust the height of cut and the battery lasted 20 minutes and was still going at the end.
My only criticism is that the grass box is extremely flimsy and poorly designed and won’t last long in my opinion. Hence only 4 stars overall. Hope you can get replacements.

This is brilliant. I’ve used petrol, battery and corded mowers before and this is by far the best. It is lightweight and so easy to manoeuvre. It was a bit fiddly to put together, but well worth the effort!
My lawn is approx 500 square metres and usually takes 40 minutes to cut. Each battery lasts 20 minutes, so I have two batteries. The offer from Amazon included two, so it was perfect for me.

  29. MeghanBlank says:

I’ve had a Bosch corded lawnmower for 3 years so I already had an idea what to expect, I just wanted to ditch the cord!
I was pleasantly surprised to find the lowest cut setting is as low as I like it, I cut my lawn weekly to suppress weeds and encourage the fine “bowling green” varieties of grass, I had to “botch” the previous model to get such a close cut.
The roller “stripes” the lawn nicely and the supplied batteries last well. By comparison to the mains powered version it is very quiet, during the summer I would be happy to go out and mow the lawn at midnight without fear of waking the neighbours, in fact it is such a joy to use I now mow theirs for them!
The 40L grass box is more than adequate, a fully charged battery often fills 3 of them, to give you an idea of run time.

Bosch mowers have always been very good. This one does the job well enough. I bought it as its predecessor broke down after 6 years of heavy use. This replacement is of similar design but it doesn’t seem to be as robust. Much lighter and thinner plastic. I doubt it will last as long as the previous one.

Bought it to replace my old lawnmover and this it my first time to use battery lawnmovergood user experience. I have to say the lawnmover has done the great job in weeding and makes my garden look beautiful again. But I only recommended it for someone who has small garden, this is not a good choice if you have a big garden as the batteries run out quickly and you need to charge for many times. Overall, good product for me.

I bought this as amazon special at 236 gbp or so. IT arrived on time but as we were moving house, took me a while to open up the box. to my dismay, the mower was missing 2 back wheels and the roller. After a quick online chat with amazon, they agreed to send me a replacement after collecting the old one. This time though, I spotted the note saying that the wheels were sandwiched between the the 2 grass collector parts!! so maybe I should not have had to send the mower back. however, it was still missing the roller. As for cutting, i opted for the 2 battery option. It managed my lawn and when I helped out my neighbour, it cut out necessitating the 2nd battery. after that, I had enough juice to do the front of the 2 houses and enough left for the hedge (i also bout a 36v hedger). So, given that battery performance drops over time, I am glad I went for teh 2 battery option as I think I would be cutting it close with only one.

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersWell designed and made – for example, it is correctly balanced so that when picked up by the carrying handle, it stays level although it is on the heavy side to lift and carry around. I can manage it OK but less strong or smaller people might struggle. Of course, if you can just wheel it into a garage or shed, this isn’t an issue.

Very much easier and quicker than my corded hover-mower – I can cut the same area of lawn in half the time with less effort. However, I should have bought a bigger one. The suggested performance is very optimistic:

    1. I’m sure the 40 lt grass bin is 40 lt but it doesn’t pack the grass down as much as my corded hover-mower’s 23 lt bin so I end up making only about as many trips to the compost heap to dump grass cuttings.

    2. It may achieve the suggested cutting area if you are taking 2 mm off a bowling green but with my lawn with lots of curves and corners, a few small bumps and taking off around 15 mm, a 2 Ah battery lasts around 120 m. With 2 x 2Ah batteries, I can get the whole of the back grass area done, around 200 m.

I guess if I had bought a model with a 4 Ah battery, I could mow the whole of my back lawn but probably wouldn’t be able to also do the front without changing or charging batteries. A 6 Ah battery would probably allow me to do the lot without changing/charging but the 6 Ah are around twice the price of the 2 Ah batteries.

    3. Note, the charger/batteries won’t charge if the battery is hot, as it is when you remove it from the mower. So, if you exchange batteries part way through mowing and put the first battery in the charger, the electronic control system prevents charging for 10 minutes or so until the battery has cooled. If you are cutting a larger area, you may find you need 3 x 2 Ah batteries – one operating, one cooling and one charging. And, of course, larger capacity batteries take longer to fully charge as well as being more expensive.

Early days but has cut efficiently and is light and easy to handle.
The charging so far has been quick .
For our small area of grass it appears to be the answer and a really good replacement to the older and much heavier petrol machine. The grass box is not large so it is a question of becoming used to more frequent emptying.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our Users+does a better job of actually mowing the lawn than my old corded hover mower (with which I mowed through the cable, hence getting a battery job this time 🙂 )
+stores reasonably flat hooked up on my garage wall
    +easy to adjust mow height
+uses the same battery as my Bosch strimmer
+battery charge more than enough to do both my modest size lawns, and swap it to the strimmer and to the edges too.
    -grass basket seems very flimsy

-poor assembly instructions, but you get there in the end.

Read instructions carefully. Don’t rush putting mower together. I did and it worked a treat. Mower is good and lowest setting at 25mm is perfect once lawn has been cut higher in spring. Easy to operate with good grass collecting box which is not flimsy if put together correctly. Superb battery system with safety key to prevent youngsters messing with it and injuring themselves. Superb mower and well worth the money. Gives a delightful finish to the lawn.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWorks very well and battery lasts plenty of time too, assembling the handles I found a little fiddly where they meet the mower body, the grass box molding seems rather poor at the end where the grass enters, the top and bottom parts don’t line up and hang apart a bit as if they need another clip to hold them
together, probably the one poor item of this package . I used cable ties to pull the plastic parts together which more or less sorted things out, but couldn’t solve one side at the front being slightly longer than the underneath part causing a small gap for grass cuttings to still escape. Not good quality control but a minor point with an otherwise excellent mower
If you register purchase with Bosch the guarantee is extended to 3 years at no extra cost. So good to be away from trailing electric cables and the risk of cutting one

  39. DottySpeer says:

My 2hrs of grass cutting with a main powered mower now takes 1hr and all the grass cuttings are picked up. Seems rather flimsy at first but is perfect for my lawn. Leaves good stripes and has survived many stone hits. Lightweight blade may need to be replaced one day but can also be sharpened. I used to have to rest after pushing a heavy mower around, this one is a doddle, very light and smooth.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI purchased this model which comes with two batteries as I felt I may need to have a second one as I have two (albeit small) lawns. I soon discovered that the one battery proved more than enough! The mower is very light and manoeuvrable, and with no trailing cable or petrol fumes mowing is a pleasure. If you want to cut your grass down to a few millimetres you may find this is not for you, but the cut length is fine for me. I can whizz around the garden in less than half the time I used to with the petrol mower, so a more frequent cut is good for the lawn and good exercise for me!

Golden Review Award: 16 From Our UsersWe’ve had a Bosch cordless mower for years but it stopped working the other day. We were surprised how expensive a new one would be. Shows how long we’ve had ours.

So my husband started looking at ones without batteries since we already had them. He found one he was going to order. The cutting width was smaller (32cm as opposed to our previous 34cm). I quickly checked Amazon and found this one was deal of the day. While it was more expensive than the one he’d found it gave us a 37cm cutting width plus two batteries.

He’s very happy with our purchase. It works really well and the extra battery is a plus.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersAfter much research into cordless mowers, I decided to go for this Bosch mower. As others have said, it is not as easy to assemble as it could be. However, you only have to assemble it once. I have a Bosch verticutter which is very lightweight, but amazingly powerful. This mower feels even more lightweight and not very sturdy. That is until you use it. The cut is brilliant, and it picks up leaves with ease. Mine has a rear roller which leaves nice stripes. It is extremely easy to push and will cut longish grass up to about 6 inches tall, maybe a bit longer. I can pick the mower up by it’s handle with one arm. My lawns total 170 m2 in area and it will easily cut them on one charge of a 2.0 ah battery and if I had more grass the batteries are quite easy to swap over.

Pros: Lightweight, Good cut, batteries charge quickly

Negs: It could be easier to assemble. I wonder about the longevity (However it is 40% of the Petrol mower it’s replaced)

The battery charges in about an hour and is generally good enough for two cuts. I have never had to sharpen the blade, it still does the first cut of the year with no issue at all. It is lightweight and easy to lift in an out of my shed and get it around tight spots int he garden. It leaves stripes on the lawn and is as efficient to day as the day I bought it and showing no signs of giving up any tome soon. I couldn;t recommend enough.

Wasn’t sure at first about spending the extra to go cordless, but I am converted. Can do the 100 sq mtr lawn with ease on a single charge. then still have enough left in the battery to edge trim with the strimmer, and clear the patios with the blower.
So much less hassle than corded. Can have the whole job done and tidied away again in the time getting the extension lead out and getting started with a corded.
Packs away neatly in the shed, pretty easy to clean off.
Only grumble is the roller is a little sticky on its mechanism.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersSwitched from a manual push mower to an electric. Never going back This lawnmower was so easy to assemble, and it’s so easy to use. No cords. No petrol. No worries. Battery lasts a long time Am considering other Bosch purchases.

This is a vast improvement over an electric mower. By eliminating the need to keep moving around the flex, moving between sockets and winding up the reel it saves significant time. The mower cuts well, is easy to adjust for depth of cut and nearly eliminates the need for a strimmer by cutting right to the edge of the machine (perhaps is does not sure yet).

Liked the manoeuvre ability ,the easy to clean and easy to understand the instructions of the machine.the grass collection needs a bit to feed into the box from the cutting blades you do not have a lump which builds up so when you take the box off you do not have a wall of cuttings.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThe instructions, being illustrations only, could have been slightly difficult to follow at first, but were in fact better than similar ones on some other products. The metal handles were a little difficult to manoeuvre into the plastic sockets, but the whole thing was generally easy to assemble. I have found the mower easy and comfortable to use, and it deals well with the fairly uneven surface of my lawn. Very pleased I bought it.

Appliance arrived with a fault, returned and repaired. Can tackle long grass and keeps short grass in trim. Easy to use. Good battery performance.

Reasonable replacement for an excellent Motor Mower that had got too heavy to start. Unfortunately unable to cut as low as we would like but otherwise very good.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI have a very small lawn which is why I thought this would work well for me. It was easy to put together and I charged the battery whilst assembling it. Nice cut and no longer have to keep moving a lead to get round the garden. Would thoroughly recommend for people with small lawns and the batter charge lasted around an hour, so cut my lawn 4 times to one charge.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersSo much better than trailing a cord around the garden, and the battery lasts longer than it takes to cut my 2 small lawns.

It is light to handle and push along, but a bit difficult to manoever in a confined space, eg when turning at the ends of my small lawns.

It cuts very well the grass looks better than it ever did, and I am sure my tecnique will improve with practice.

Really easy to use and lightweight, easy for me to mow my own lawns. Grass box a tad small and flimsy but overall an excellent buy.
