I am very happy with this quiet, efficient dehumidifier. It is light weight, easy to operate, easy to empty and keep the filter clean. The water tray has a sensible plastic cover to prevent spills as you pull it out to empty. I have had several dehumidifiers over the years, this one actually is quiet enough to leave on overnight. I use it to dry washing as well as general use in damper rooms in our flat. It’s cheap to use and made no noticeable change to our electric bill.

I bought this for the cabin as I was working from there through the winter. Due to my own poor DIY work I had some damp on the roof which this helped dry up well. As this is a dessicant dehumidifier it will work at low temperatures as well. Thinking of getting one for the caravan we own as well. We have an older version for the house and this has helped sort out then damp we used to have and also helps get the washing dried a lot quicker as well. Can’t fault it at all

Plugged it in and off it went. It doesn’t have a visible humidity meter so I bought a small one. Really useful. Machine has an auto where it turns itself on and off when it hits the correct humidity, but being able to see the numbers give a lot of control. Useful drying clothes function as have to dry inside. They dry much quicker and no condensation on the windows. Haven’t scored energy efficient as haven’t seen electric bill yet.
It is quite noisy, can talk above it but would probably take important or zoom calls in another room

I love everything about this Dehumidifier. It does exactly what it says. It is amazing the way it draws up all the moisture, from the rooms and my damp clothes. It is attractive, and easy to carry it around the house, on a cold, snowy, windy day, instead of opening the window during a long, leisurely hot bath, it works wonders in my bathroom, no moisture on the tiles on the walls, on the mirror or on the window pane. I highly recommend this produc

On the normal mode this extracts a lot of water in a short amount of time, but the fan is quite noisy. In Eco mode this is quiet enough you could sleep in the same room with no issues, but the water extraction rate goes down to less than half.
All in all a great little machine that does exactly what it says it will!

Bought this dehumidifier to replace one from BandQ that couldn’t operate below 5 deg
Using it in an awning attached to a caravan to deal with condensation. Awning is dry now with no condensation regardless of the outside temperature. Worked well even when external temperatures are below freezing.
Easy to empty and variable settings. Switches off automatically when the water container is full.
Does everything promised in the tech spec.

Does exactly what it says and removes condensatio

Does well on the landing of our 1930s semi-detached house between two rooms and the bathroom. We put it on the lowest setting for a few hours each morning and it gets around half full. I have asthma and normally get a bad chest but the air is better with the dehumidifier. I would suggest that once you turn it off you wait a few minutes for it to finish draining – if you take the reservoir out straight away a bit of water can get on the carpet. Easy to carry around with the handle and quite light too.

I have a conservatory which can get some humidity and/or condensation depending on the time of the year. Well, not anymore! If the weather is relatively humid or for whichever reason there’s a lot of moisture in there, I turn the dehumidifier on for approx. 2 hours every week and it has been keeping humidity levels at bay. A fantastic product, compact, manoeuvrable and very simple to use. My only gripe and suggestion for improvement is if the unit could also remember how long to run for. This is the only setting which doesn’t seem to remain recorded in the unit, meaning every time I turn it on I also have to remember to set it the countdown for 2 hours.

If I had any complaint it would be that, in the small room I’m using it in… even with the switch set to “Economy”, when the dial set to “high”, it can take the humidity well below 35% before cutting off. I would advise getting a humidity meter so you can adjust it as required.

I highly recommend using the included hose and position the unit so you can have a continuous drain if at all possible.. otherwise, in a damp environment it can quite happily fill the 2 litre water tank in a few hours!

    Quiet and powerful...

I got this to use in the spare room where most drying of washing happens in the winter. Had been getting some marks on the ceiling so thought I would try this. Very pleased so far, seems well made and very easy to use. Small enough to handle easily but powerful enough to really capture the water in the room. I just pop it on when a fresh batch of washing goes in and it whirrs away quietly for a few hours, inaudible in adjacent bedrooms even at night. Next thing you know you are emptying a litre of water away (could use it in the iron as it is distilled!).

After 8 years of a mouldy conservatory, I decided to research how to reduce this, after further research I decided to buy this unit.
I pop it on every night before heading to bed and by morning the unit is full of water. I also bought a damp meter and it goes from around 85% at night to 55% in the morning, the conservatory is now mould free and smells really fresh too, no smell of damp. it has been worth every penny so far and Ive only had it a week. My conservatory is around 23sq f

Read a few reviews from other dehumidifier her people complaint on how difficult to empty the water tank
How noise it is watching TV and have the dehumidifier on to noise.
NO NOT THIS ONE EcoAir DD1 Classic MK5 on economy is very low noise, the water tank very easy to empty yes is small so as the EcoAir unit but it can be moved from room to room very very easy, simple start and set 2,4,6, hours
And 3 settings for drain water, 2 speed for clothes drying, very simple to use
Yes small unit for the price but what can do is very good
    VERY VERY HAPPY with it
Now wend I look to EcoAir DD1 Classic MK5 I don’t see the price I see how good it is

I’ve had this machine about 3 years now and boy has this made a difference, After suffering from damp issues for a while I decided to invest in a dehumidifier. This machine works wonders, my carpets and bedding used to feel almost damp especially in the winter when all the windows are closed and with the family showering all that steam has to go somewhere. I’m amazed at the amount of water pulled from the air and how fast the reservoir seems to fill, It’s also economical to run! As stated I’ve had this a while now and have had no problems with it. Everything now feels dry to the touch. I can’t be happier.

    Everything now feels dry.

Looks as good as a dehumidifier can, has nice feel, reservoir easy to remove and empty, simple to use. Makes roughly the noise of a table mounted electric fan – can just hear it while in bed if left on in downstairs hall, but not enough to wake us. Seems to work well, removing enough moisture to keep humidity at acceptable level (we have a medium sized 1920’s house without cavity wall). If you have serious humidity problems or a big house, you’d need 2 of these, or the compressor type dehumidifier which is a lot more money and makes a lot more noise.

Seems to be a great little machine, I bought it to get rid of damp in the garage so wanted a dehumidifier that could withstand very cold temperatures, although it will be a long process it seems to work quite well. I haven’t checked to see how much electricity it uses. Not quite sure how to empty the water container so I just tip it up there’s probably a better way. Arrived exactly on time no problem with the supplier.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersI bought this dehumidifier as I live in a static caravan and every winter I have serious condensation problems. Last year I had to replace all my net curtains as they were covered in black mould which was unsightly and unhygienic. This dehumidifier was delivered on time and is a nice looking unit which is compact and easy to move with the built-in handle. This is a desiccant dehumidifier ( as opposed to a compressor type) which means it can operate at lower temperatures and has an operating range between +1C and 40C. The control buttons are easy to understand and use. When I received this unit the relative humidity indoors was between 75 – 80%. After 2 days use on the automatic setting it had dropped to an acceptable 50 – 60% and the dehumidifier had removed 8 litres (almost 2 gallons) of water from the air. I now only use it for a few hours a day on a low setting to maintain this lower percentage. The fan is quiet on the low setting and slightly noisier on the high setting, about the same as a normal domestic fan. This has a laundry setting which enables you to dry a load of washing in 4 hours and means I can save money as I no longer have to use the tumble dryer. It also has an ioniser which purifies the air blown out of fan. The water tank is easy to remove and empty and the air filter is easy to remove and clean. The machine cuts out when the water tank is full and restarts once the tank has been emptied. The machine does emit a slight smell for the first couple of days but this is normal and soon goes away. I highly recommend this dehumidifie

Simple to move around the house, compact in comparison to other ones I have used and very silent when not at maximum power (like the option to dry clothes indoors).

I only wish it had a panel with the numerical reading of the current sensed relative humidity so I can adjust the auto mode yo a desired value to turn on and to turn off instead of a preset value. But as you can see, for its price, that was not a decisive factor for me to not buy this one.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersThis worked perfectly for 3 years. On Everyday, we used it to dry out a new build, dry washing and to mange the high level of humidity in the ensuite from the shower constantly in use!
However it failed, and would not operate even though it was turned on.
I am an engineer so took it apart into a lot of pieces. The failure was a hole in the thin plastic water jacket.
the hole was the result of heat as it was brown melted on the clear plastic.
As there was nothing around it that was metal and could have burnt it, I came to conclusion that the vents which collect fluff on the filter had built up and the heat build up on the jacket raised to a level that caused the jacket material to fail.
Overall I was satisfied with the product and its performance. The failure could have been down to not cleaning the filter regular enough, which is a requirement in the instructions. The material of the water jacket was a polymer like polythene so maybe a lower melting temperature than polypropylene, but that would have increased price. The safety wasn’t compromised with the failure as it failed to operate. I was tempted to purchase the same again, but instead went for a bigger more expensive meaco one.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI bought the same one (in blue) in 2014. Our flat has bad insulation and during winter time we had a lot of condensation on windows. So I decided to give it a try. After the first night it was full of water. I couldn’t believe it. I bought another (in black) as one isn’t enough for a Flat. Now, one covers the living room/kitchen and the other one the two bedrooms/corridor.
    Pros:
    +quite silent
    +big container for water
+adding 1 degree in the room (so I don’t leave the heating on that much in winter anymore)
+perfect to dry your clothes inside in winter
+I have the first one since 2014 and still working fine. Though I can feel he’s getting a bit tired and not sucking water as fast as the new one i bought.
    Con:
    – could have a setting to get the right humidity percentage.
    – WiFi controllers but maybe I’m asking too much! 🙂
    That’s about it really
So would definitely recommend this dehumidifie

This dehumidifier is simply excellent. It operates quietly, you can sleep in the same room without a problem. In 24h it collects around 4 litres of water and I can really notice a difference in humidity level in our bedroom. Before the walls were wet, there was condensation on windows every morning despite double-glazing film on them. Now there is no earthy smell of mould and I can even dry laundry overnight by switching on the laundry mode. Before I was desperate every time the temperature outdoors dropped and caused severe condensation. Now I do not mind any weather as I know I have this mighty machine to hand:) I can recommend this dehumidifier to anyone who experiences similar problems to the ones I used to have. You will not regret buying this product.

I’ve only had this a week so will update my review if anything changes but… this thing has changed my life! I know that sounds overdramatic but since the weather turned cooler, I’ve been struggling to dry clothes in my two bedroom new build apartment, they were taking days to dry and smelling damp when they did. The condensation on my french doors was insane, literally dripping off the windows and door handles so I knew we needed something major to change. This might be the best money I’ve ever spent on an appliance. It’s not that noisy in my opinion but we don’t have it in our bedroom. Even if we did, I think I’d like the white noise aspect of it personally. If you’re a light sleeper I guess it might bother you. No idea what the energy efficiency is like but to be honest, for the sake of being able to dry my laundry in 4 hours instead of 4 days and have it fresh smelling and bone dry I don’t care how much it costs! Bottom line, if you live in a new build and have a condensation problem, this will solve your problem.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWe have bought several of these over the years and use them in different rooms, one is used for drying washing over winter, the others are used in bedrooms to prevent window condensation, in an old house with sash windows. They are very effective and draw a lot of moisture out of the air, much more effective then the alternative dehumidifiers as they blow out warm air depending on the setting used so the rooms feel dry and not damp. Highly recommend.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThis is a fantastic unit, bought as a replacement for an older version I bought years ago for a “dripping” wet concrete double garage I use as a woodworking workshop. The old one gave several years of faultless 24×7 service in very dusty freezing conditions (In case you are wondering between condenser and desiccant types, when my old one finally died I rushed into buying a cheaper condenser type replacement which was useless outside of a heated home as it froze solid whenever temperatures fell below +/-10 degrees). This new model is easy to use, has been extracting an industrial “horse sized” bucket of water a day, worked in continuous sub zero temperatures for days this winter (2019) and took the garage from >80% humidity to 65% in a few days. Highly efficient, great product.

We bought this model after two years of using the non-classic model every single day in an enclosed space to dry our laundry with. I don’t think it’s really designed to be used like that, but it worked really well and worked out a lot cheaper than using a tumble dryer, though after 2 years of daily use it developed a small fault. It was probably repairable, but we figured we’ll just buy a new one since the other one’s survived such heavy use and it turns out this classic model is even more suitable for drying clothes since it has a timer and economy modes. The instructions still doesn’t give me the impression that it’s made for drying clothes daily, or being put into an airing cupboard, but judging from how well the old one did just that we are just going to do the same thing again and we have been doing so for several weeks.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersHave been using one of these for 3 years and it has been a godsend. I live in a small flat where the humidity level goes right up when boiling stuff on the cooker and using the shower this dehumidifier has been excellent in dealing with that excess moisture and refreshing the air in the morning using the ioniser. I sometimes leave it on the timer for 8 hours at the low setting while at work and come home to a tank with 2 litres of water in it, that’s water that could have caused damaged be getting into electronics. The tank is easy to empty and I still use the original air filter which is a doddle to clean using the hose of a hover. This unit is fantastic for the winter months when it is too cold to open the windows to let out excess moisture. I would also recommend buying a humidity meter thermometer to keep track of the humidity levels in your home.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersA well described humidifier. It seems to work well and certainly removes moisture from the air, blowing out pleasantly warm dry air. I placed this unit on the upstairs landing of our 3 bedroom semi. The result is that all of the upstairs rooms significantly warmer, the heating is on its lowest setting in all rooms except the bathroom. Downstairs there is almost zero condensation except when cooking, no extractor fan in kitchen so we shut doors and open windows.
The longevity remains to be seen.

I bought it as I live in a three bed rented cottage 2 adults 2kids dog cat etc. With no extractor in kitchen or bathroom (bathroom has no external windows ether ) we had really bad condensation problems cupboards couldn’t be used as cold walls at back were constantly wet and growing mouldy same behind furniture against any outside wall. I got this and after a few weeks emptying the 2liter tank several times a day my home was dry and has stayed dry with this on 24/7 and being emptied once or twice a day since. I only looked up the purchase as the filter is getting a bit old and needs vacuum cleaned more often so looking for a new filter. Best thing I’ve bought it’s quite and has worked brilliantly

Excellent dehumidifier. Have to empty it once every 12 hours so we know it’s doing its job. Has a 2l tank so removing 4l water a day for us. Very pleased with its performance. Has a built in ioniser

The reason we opted for a desiccant dehumidifier was so we wouldn’t need to turn the heating on so much in the winter. The air coming out of it isn’t as warm as we expected but on the lower setting you definitely get warmer air than the higher setting.

Very simple to remove and empty tank as well.

Only downside to this is that there is a unique smell coming from it. It’s not a terrible smell, just a little odd. If I had to buy again I would probably buy the simple version of this. Apart from the ioniser and silver filter, I think the simple version is better value for money.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWe moved into a bungalow in the summer. When cooler weather came we started getting a lot of condensation overnight on our bedroom window and realised that the lintel above it was made of metal, as was the window frame. The condensation started to cause mould, so eventually we bought the EcoAir. Problem solved! It is a powerful beast that has been worth every penny. The condensation has gone and the mould has not reappeared after treating it – previously it reappeared every couple of weeks. We switch it on for a few hours after we have got up in the morning and we have been amazed at how much moisture it has taken out of the atmosphere. This means the air in the room is much drier when we go to bed and the condensation stays away. I would recommend this dehumidifier to anyone, it is worth every penny.

Having researched the various brands, the consumer association recommend this one, amongst some others and it has not disappointed. Reading some amazon reviews it seems there are some genuine faults in manufacture but the majority were easily fixed. This does not worry me as Amazon have always resolved any issues with other sellers. My EcoAir does not leak at all but it does spill if you let it fill right up, easily prevented. the best feature is the automatic switch on and off and its efficiency in colder temperatures. Moreover, it has fixed my severe damp problem since discovering the cause as a sealed lino flooring not allowing natural ventilation.

I researched many different dehumidifiers before settling on this one and had previously owned a refrigerant type – which was sent back as way too noisy.
It was a close run between this and a Meaco desiccant model but that was some 30-40 more with similar specs so hard to justify the extra cost.
The reason I settled on this is that these desiccant models work much better in colder environments where the temperature is below 15c and during winter my static mobile home drops way below this. The compressor types need the air temperature to be cooler so struggle to perform.
On higher settings it does increase the room temperature and has quite an effective drying function.
    + Good looking and light.
+ Much quieter than compressor dehumidifiers
+ Effective and can easily drawer 2 litres of water in a damp room
    – Can be fairly expensive to run on higher power levels
    – When the tank is full it’s not particularly easy to slide out and carry without spilling water.

Nice neat unit but spoilt by power cable exiting at the side rather than being hidden round the back. Works very well but wish there was some way to tell when it was dehumidifying rather than just monitoring – then fan seems to go at the same speed. I would have thought it would be quieter and more energy efficient to drop the fan down to a slower speed for monitoring, we would a least then know what it is doing. It is generally quite quiet (shows around 40dba on my meter from 3 feet away on low) but not as quiet as I had hoped. We can still leave it on all night on the landing and get to sleep though. Also think it should have a digital display for current humidity in the room too as some cheaper models have. On the whole I would buy again.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersFantastic product, really helped our condensation/damp problem, and you can really tell how the air quality has improved. However, we had to send our first unit back because of a leak directly above the water tank, causing the water to collect on top of the tank and excessive moisture under the tank that required wiping each time we emptied it. Something to look out for – there is a black rubber/foam seal around the plate above the water tank inside the unit, this had dropped and the water was leaking from around the seal. Might be worth checking this out before you use it. New one is totally fine so far. Humidity meter will read 78% and within 30 mins on turbo will drop to 65% and temperature will have gone up a few degrees. Really pleased with this product, definitely worth the money.

Returning the product was so easy! Requested a return around 9pm, it was collected the following morning and the day after that the new one came! Really impressed with Amazon’s returns

The dehumidifier works a treat; quietly collects more water than I could ever have imagined existed in our house

I’ve worked out that the dehumidifer is costing us about 9p/hour and we use it in full mode, not eco mode (that would work out about 5p/hour). We have the dehumidifier on for 2 hours (on the timer, so no need to worry about leaving it on too long and running up your bill) a day and the difference with a problem wall has all but gone – obviously, without continued use, the same problem would re-appear due to the high humidity levels in our home.

I’ve seen complaints of water leaking when removing the water tank and I thought u experienced that at first too. However, the issue was I wasn’t leaving the unit long enough to finish dripping the water into the tank and therefore water was dripping between removing the tank, emptying it, and putting it back into the unit. So, best to leave it for 30mins before emptying.

Highly recommend for anyone looking for a dehumidifier. It’s not cheap – I paid 155 – but I’d rather pay good money for something that works properly than try (and fail) to do it on the cheap.

This is our third dehumidifier of this type which says it all really. We live in a ground floor flat and it is necessary for us to dry our laundry indoors. This product not only helps us to dry the laundry much more quickly and reduce heating bills but also prevents mould growth. It performs these functions very quietly which is important for us as it is situated within our open plan lounge/kitchen. We have tried out compressor type dehumidifiers but have been obliged to send them back as they have been impractically noisy for a small flat. This model’s quiet efficiency definitely makes it worth the expenditure. My only criticism would be that our second model of this type started to leak towards the end of its life which meant messing around with pieces of cardboard and various other devices to catch the water until we could afford a new one which was a real pain. That said, all such devices fail eventually, especially when used 24/7.

    A surprisingly awesome product.
At first it had a peculiar smell because of the desiccant, but that gradually faded away in a month or two. Or maybe our noses got accustomed to it. Doesn’t matter, the smell is gone, so it’s not as big of an issue as other reviews say it is.
It has multiple functions which are awesome. The dryer function for clothes is fantastic. We use it, when a big pile of dirty clothes needs to be done, but we have a limited space for drying.
For regular dehumidifying job, it has two stages as well. The lower stage does the job and the noise is in the tolerable zone. Of course this is my personal opinion and my view is to rather have a bit noise in the house then black mold.
Most of the negative reviews mention the product breaking early on and such. For me it still working after almost half a year and it basically working all day. I only turn it off when I go to bed.
I would strongly recommend this product, if you have the money to spare and in need of a good dehumidifier.

Golden Review Award: 17 From Our UsersBought this mainly based on the other reviews. Glad I did. A superb piece of kit Installed it on the landing of our 4 bed house on the Sunday and on Tuesday morning had to empty the tank. This was running on automatic from around 8am till 9pm. Now, another week on and humidity is down to 48% and stable. The instruction book has a very handy section which explains about why we need to have a certain amount of humidity in the air. As with comments from other reviewers, it works best if you leave your internal doors open; moisture will migrate naturally from any room towards the machine. I am so impressed with this device I bought another for our caravan, which after being closed for the winter had mould growing in places when we went to open up. I left this one on the kitchen worktop on automatic constantly while we weren’t there draining through the supplied pipe into the sink. When we went the following week to check on it, the difference in the air was amazing. The mould had all but disappeared, and the air felt, well, dry! Very impressed with this machine, highly recommended.

Bought this as having a condensation issue in my bathroom and when looking into these a few people said they would recommend this Dehumidifier, I have now used it for sometime and it has cured my issue. I put it on just before I go for a shower and switch it off after its been running for 10mins or so after I have finished my shower and I no longer have the mildew issue on the bathroom, I also have not noticed a huge increase on my electricity bills but this could be due to the fact I don’t leave it on.At the same time of buying this I also bought LCD Digital Temperature Humidity Meter and this helps to gauge the Humidity in the bathroom and allows me to know when it has come down enough to be able to switch this off. It also has a great capacity to store the water it has collected which mean you don’t have to keep emptying it every 5 mins, Great purchase and it has saved me form having to get a builter in to try and install and extractor that would possibly not have worked anyway.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI bought this to deal with a damp problem in a couple of bedrooms and the annual issue of drying clothes in a rainy UK winter. It has been effective in tackling both although it obviously can’t fix the causes of damp in a home.

I chose a desiccant dehumidifier as the room we use for drying washing is often fairly chilly and a fridge compressor based unit would struggle in those conditions. Handily, desiccant units are also a bit lighter, smaller and quieter than fridge compressor dehumidifiers so there are advantages there for moving it about and using it in bedrooms. I’ve been regularly moving this unit up and down stairs and it’s no hassle at all.

I’ve been using it mostly on low or the “eco” mode that switches between high and low depending on the humidity. On low and at around 60% humidity at 15C or so it fills the 2L tank in about 12 hours, which seems pretty good to me and in line with the claimed performance on high. In terms of efficiency I’d also note that it does provide a bit of heating. Not enough on low to fend off a very cold day but enough to raise a bedroom a few degrees over a couple of hours.

The noise aspect is always going to be subjective. The noise on low is nearly all from the fan drawing air and is about the same as a desk fan or a large computer fan. Apart from that there is very little rattling or squeaking, just the occasional drip of water into the tank (and the fact that you can hear that occasional drip should give an idea of how low the fan noise is). For me the fan noise is very easy to sleep with but could be distracting if you’re trying to listen to a quiet radio or similar.

If I could pinpoint an area for improvement it would be the timer options and more flexibility in humidity triggers. For example it would be nice for me to be able to set it to fire up in the middle of the night, turn off at 8am, and to move the high/low eco trigger point up to 70% humidity. However, these sorts of options aren’t found in other models either so I’m not going to subtract stars for it.

I have had this unit for over a month and the dehumidifier works great. It brought down the humidity in a 20m2 room from over 75% to around 50% in low mode. It’s quite (in low mode) about the same as a small fan on low. It took about 4 – 5 liters of water out of the air the first week or so, now it takes about half that amount. I leave it on all the time, and hook up the continous drain when I am away.

On the con side: It doesn’t really have proper timer, so you can’t set it to run at specified intervals automatically i.e. every 12 hours, or 3 hours. Nor is there a humidity control, so you cannot set the unit to turn off after the humidity hits a certain level e.g. 50%. Lastly the contious drain valve could be better designed ensure the hose is attached correctly. The current drain is recessed into the back and it takes some fiddling to asure the hose is attached correctly.

Overall I am really pleased with this unit. It’s compact and does its job quietly and efficiently. The ionizer is also a plus.

I’ve had this for a while now and I’m really impressed with it. It’s quiet. It’s drawing a lot of moister out of the air. Now the weather has turned colder I’ve had no condensation on my windows when I use it. It lives in my bedroom and I’ve had no trouble falling asleep with running it next to me. Not having a garden or a tumble drier I use it to dry my clothes. On the laundry mode in a room with the door closed it has dries out my clothes in a few hours. I normally just leave it running on it’s minimum setting when I am at home. (I put a electronic meter on it and it work’s out it costs me about 16.5p an hour to run on minimum setting). As heat is it’s only by product (apart from the water it collects) it also warms up my bedroom and the surrounding area quite nicely. I haven’t felt the need to switch my heating on yet (but the weather has been quite mild). I’ve read reports which say these things have been great, then just stopped working. In my mind this little unit has already paid for itself. I think I’ve got the later one with the modified heating coil. Anyway if mine stopped working I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another.

Having suffered with damp in a badly insulated extension in our house I tried a couple of things to try and relieve it, including using a Unibond Aero 360 dehumidifier, which did remove some water, but not a huge amount over the space of 2 months.

I decided to purchase this when the price dropped as part of one of Amazon’s special deals and I’m glad I did. I can’t believe the amount of water this has pulled out over the space of a day, over a tank full, and still going. I know this device isn’t the cheapest to run compared to the compressor types, but the room it is used in struggles to get over 15 degrees in the winter months because of the poor insulation so I felt this would be more efficient at removing the excess moisture and hopefully rid us of the mould problems we have in this room.

After just a couple of days use I am more than happy with this dehumidifier and can already feel the difference in the air quality in the room due to the reduced moisture. I would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone with damp, musty rooms. Don’t be put off by the cost, it really is worth it.

I think it’s a fantastic piece of equipment and only loses a star (at this time) as I’ve had to ask for a replacement. Puddle of water underneath the unit which has marked my flooring. Leak not coming from the Water Collector as tested this separately, but might have been some mis-alignment with where the water drips down into the collector. Sat completely level so not tipping or leaning in any way.

Arranged exchange via Amazon with ease, can drop off at Collect+ and looking forward to getting the new unit as has been fantastic at sucking the excess moisture out of my house. If the new unit doesn’t leak, it will earn that final star.

Edit:- 11/12/2105 – 5th star awarded as 1st unit must indeed just have had a fault. No leakage from replacement and continues to do a great job of maintaining the humidity in the house. Definitely less of a wet feeling around the house due to drying clothes, baths, etc. Some would say just open windows, but then the house is freezing and you are then creating cold surfaces throughout the house. Heating is on less as a result of this unit.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersWe have a three bed detached house built in1935. During the autumn/winter we find that some cupboard doors start to stick and we have had mould spots on some of the wooden furniture. After buying this a month ago the cupboard doors are no longer sticking and the mould spots that were cleaned off have not come back. It was on a lot to start with, 20-24hrs a day on high or low, and we emptied over 60litres of water out in the first two weeks. (We had it on high if we weren’t around or it was in a different part of the house and low overnight downstairs.) Since then it has been on when we feel we have needed it. We have not had the RH down below 50% anywhere and it seems to settle between 55-65%, so we would probably either need a bigger dehumidifier for the house or need to leave it on high for longer. We’ll see how this goes over the winter but may invest in a PIV system for the future.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWe bought this having had problems with mould for years on the bedroom windows and particularly in our bathroom and we wanted to find a solution to the problem but can’t quite stretch to getting radiators fitted upstairs at the moment. We have been using it for a few weeks now, we have it on the landing and the bathroom and bedroom doors are left ajar all night. The bathroom window has always run with condensation every morning as it has two outside walls and the only, very small upstairs radiator, since having the dehumidifier on (8hrs overnight on the timer, economy setting) the window is dry and there is no condensation on the bedroom windows either. I have taken to standing the washing in the spare room overnight and it cuts drying time down meaning less time drying round the radiators. It is relatively quiet and didn’t take long to sleep without noticing the noise, there is no smell from it since the initial ‘new’ smell on the first couple of nights and it also has the bonus effect of heating the upstairs with warm air too. Highly recommend and hope it lasts for years!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersVery pleased.
Rooms now don’t have a slightly musty smell they used to.
I use in bedroom most mornings for about an hour on medium setting and it collects 1/2 to 1 pint.
First time I used in my flat it took over 2 pints during about 8 hours on medium setting.

It is quiet, like a fan heater.
it blows back warmed dry air.
It looks good and is compact.

It would get 5 stars if it had a timer(not a big problem).
And when I carry it with the handle,it doesn’t appear to hang flat,
rather slightly angled,so I support it by placing my thumb on top to steady it(not a big problem).

You can hear drips entering collection box sometimes which is nice to hear it doing its job.

Not had electricity bill yet but am expecting an extra 10 a month,2.50 a week.
If so,well worth it for a noticeably better living environment.

This is a brilliant product and I cannot reccomend it highly enough.

It is small, easy to move from place to place with the carry handle on top and is not too noisy when in operation – it sounds like a powerful fan.

There are multiple settings on the unit, all of which set the dehumidifier going until the air reaches the desired level of dryness (which you choose) then the unit just turns off. The unit also turns off when the water chamber is full.

The instructions are clear, and tell you how to choose the correct setting for the drying you need, ranging from taking a damp edge off a room to drying heaps of washing! It puts you in control, and just sits there and does its job.

Many people have commented on how expensive it is to run – it is not more or less expensive than any other dehumidifier. it is a powerful little machine, and I expected it to guzzle electricity in the same way as a spot heater or a tumble dryer. If you allow for this or just use it sparingly it works perfectly and is not that scary on your electric bill.

I have had it running in a large room that gets a little damp in spring and autumn, and also in a small area of the house that gets damp very fast. I have used it to dry out surfing wetsuits (just hang up the suit in the smallest room you have, switch on and it just sucks the moisture out of things.

A tip – the larger the room, the longer it will take to dry, so if you are spot drying an object (like a wetsuit) then put the unit in the smallest area you can.

I never thought that this would become my favorite gadget in the house! We bought this dehumidifier for our 2 bedroom basement flat as we don’t have many air vents or windows and air circulation is not great. This meant that we were seeing black mould appear around the air vents and getting condensation on windows and walls almost daily. Well since we got this dehumidifier all of those problems have disappeared! I normally run it for the 2 hour setting on laundry mode every couple of days and you wouldn’t believe the amount of water it extracts. (Literally litres!) I also bought a couple of those little electronic humidity meters and the humidity in the flat drops from over 75 to under 50 in only 2 hours! We even started using it for laundry – it can dry 2 large loads of laundry in a room with the door closed in less than 4 hours, amazing! (And really handy if you don’t want laundry handing around for days) My only drawback is that it uses quite a bit of electricity, but if you’re smart with how often you use it the increase is negligible. (Plus you get the added bonus of extra heating in winter) I would highly recommend this product and have several colleagues at work who have bought one and love it!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThe machine was smaller than I thought it would be so was a bit worried but when I started to use it I was amazed. The thing just sucks water out of our house. We were having issues with damp and black mould after a bit of a flood from a bay window and at another corner with a leaking gutter, the mould growth has halted. Having 3 young children pretty much ever night is bath night and the fan in the bathroom can’t seem to cope and again mould was forming, but not anymore. I did a lot of looking about and reading reviews until I finally said sod it and just bought this one and so glad I did. It is not the cheapest but you get what you pay for. It has been running pretty much none stop for the last few weeks without an issue. I was really starting to worry about the damp and mould in the house, with black mould spores said to be cacogenic but this compact little unit has saved the day. Only down side is that on warm days, the warm air from the unit can make the house a tad hot.

Bought this for saturated windows in a rental property and it’s made a big difference to how we keeping condensation at bay over the winter months.
The property is small (a late 80’s build one bedroom cluster home) but running the dehumidifier at night for 2 or sometimes 4 hours as required has made a big difference to keeping otherwise condensation saturated double glazed windows and resulting mold growth at day over the winter period. Allergies have reduced and the overuse of an expensive to run and dated central heating system has been minimised. Have only ever run the dehumidifier in eco mode and that’s perfectly effective and the hit on the electricity bill with night rate usage has been minimal.
Criticisms are confined to the fixed period timed shutdown feature where 2,4 and 8 hours are all you get. Some greater customisation would have been welcome. Item is reasonably quiet though once in a while goes through periods of greater rattling that are hard to pinpoint the reason for but that’s a minor quibble.
In summary the EcoAir achieves the desired result in a quicker and more efficient rate than our previous experiences with a compressor type dehumidifier and is smaller, lighter, quieter and more portable to boot.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI used this for a few weeks because our windows would be streaming with water in a morning. I know all about condensation and its pitfalls etc. I could not sleep with it its too noisy. I also bought a humidity monitor to monitor the results. Yes the machine will get the moisture down but it will rise again very quickly if you don’t kep using it. The walls around the window would start getting mould on them which needed frequent cleaning. In the end I was concerned about the electricity it was using so, stopped using it and sold it. Obviously the mould came back and several months later I can report that I have no mould on my walls. This is how I did it. I bough a Karcher Window Vac and each morning suck the water off the window. Hey presto not seen any mould for months. I know all about the other benefits of a dehumidifier but they didnt justify the cost to me, but that’s a personal thing I suppose. So if your problem is just mould around the windows save your money and buy a window vac.

I bought this in November 2014, and at time of writing it is now Mid March 2015. I am happy to say that over the winter I have been highly satisfied with this product – as my title says, I have not had one cough or cold, as I think this can be exacerbated by damp. I love the ioniser as it makes the air smell good. The original reason for purchase was because mildew was appearing on my sea-grass flooring. As it was a natural product floor, I was rather concerned that I would have to replace the entire carpet. Living in an old building & on the coast, I was concerned too about the potential winter health hasard of having mildew inside my flat! The problem has completely cleared! I also use the dehumidifier when I wish to have laundry dried quicker than usual. On the higher settings it provides heat, although when in the same room it can become quite stifling! I left it often on the lowest setting overnight, and after a little bit of getting used to, it was perfectly possible to sleep with it on. The blue light also took a little bit of getting used to.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersAbsolutely brilliant! Cannot fault it and in the last week it as sucked out of the atmosphere and walls on average around 3 litres a day, machine on 12 hours a day various positions around our home on the recommended settings. Purchased to get rid of/prevent the mould that started to appear due to having modern homes just about air tight and insulated to the max. I imagine that in a few more weeks we wont need to use it as much but its certainly a revelation as to how much moisture is contained in our home. The air actually seems cleaner to breath as well. Wish we had purchased one of these years ago. The instructions are concise and easy to understand and as for people complaining that the machine is noisy it clearly states you can put it well out of earshot and it will work as long as you don’t mind leaving doors open. Far less noisy than the extractor fan in our shower for example. I am a light sleeper at the best of times but have not been troubled by it working in the hallway not that far from our bedroom (bungalow) at night. If we notice that the dreaded mould doesn’t return because of this item I will certainly repost and let people know. As far as we are concerned it as been a positive purchase .

Had this unit running for a few months now Always had compressor dehumidifiers before so this was a new venture for me. I went for this as the desiccant type are often used in factory type environments because they are so good however because there are a number of stages within the units they were always large however development is now compact for the domestic market so when I saw it I felt I should try it.
The installation is in a bedroom and I must say I was told the unit was a lot quieter than the old type compressors and this has proved so true and the water removal is far better than a compressor unit at all temperature levels with a bonus of a slightly warmed air outlet as well.
I managed to get a two year guarantee on the unit and its longevity is the only issue but as the unit is so efficient I am glad I made the choice.
I hope you find the review of help and this is the best by far of any domestic dehumidifiers I have had. I can assure you that over 30+ years we have had a number of the compressor types of all makes and sizes and I have always run a couple of them them in our home – always a separate dehumidifier built into the bathroom furniture units so the bathroom does not make the rest of the house damp – we get no mold at all…
Currently we have a small compressor type in the bathroom and the desiccant unit is in the bedroom so I can give you a fair review. I hope this helps you in your choice. Regards Peter Bruce

I live in an old house with some single-glazed windows and solid walls so I get a lot of condensation problems. This winter I decided to buy a dehumidifier before trying to modify the house.

I weighed up the two different types of dehumidifier: condenser and desiccant. Condensers are the original type, and work like a fridge turned inside-out. The benefits are proven technology and long operating life. However, they are heavy and noisy. I expected to be carrying this thing around the house frequently and using it while working at home, so these drawbacks were significant.

Desiccants like the EcoAir are a newer type and are supposed to be quieter and lighter, so I went for this option. I was pleasantly surprised at how small and light the machine was. It’s the size of a home-office paper-shredder. Noise level depends on what mode you use — it ranges from very quiet (like the fan in a laptop) to moderately loud (like a fan heater on maximum speed) — but even at maximum power the noise is a steady ‘whoosh’ and is not unpleasant. If it’s in an adjacent room with the door shut, it won’t bother you.

I’m very pleased with the performance of the machine. It will dry out my damp garage, including a wet car, collecting the full 2 litres of water overnight. It stops my utility room from steaming up when I hang up the washing in winter, and dries the washing much quicker than the electric oil-filled radiator that I used to use. I expect it will be cheaper to run too – 500 watts for the dehumidifier versus 2000 watts for the radiator. Some users have posted negative reviews about this unit’s performance, but I can’t fault it. According to my humidity gauge, the EcoAir took the humidity in one room from steamy to 10% overnight. This was much drier than I wanted, so I now use the timer to prevent excessive drying. Another online review mentions a burning smell on first use, but I didn’t get that problem. I also think the unit looks quite smart.

The built-in timer is easy to use, with just three simple options of 2, 4 or 8 hours. The control panel is well laid-out and took me just a few minutes to master. I’m not sure about the ionizer – I believe it managed to remove the musty smell from a damp room, but I haven’t tested it much so I could have just imagined the improvement.

The tank is easy to remove and empty, but also is the only slight weakness I can see in the machine. The tank is quite a complicated bit of kit, with a swivel handle, a close-fitting lid and a float sensor built in. With frequent emptying, this is the most likely part to get damaged and I don’t know if you can buy a spare.

In conclusion, this does everything I expected of it, for a reasonable price. It may not last as long as the more traditional types, but I still think it’s worth the money.

Update (27/1/2016): I recommend EcoAir for their customer service. I suspected a fault in my DD122, outside the Amazon return period but within the 2 year warranty. I contacted EcoAir, filled in their online form, and they immediately arranged a courier to pick up the unit. Luckily for me the fault turned out to be user error, so I cancelled the courier and my unit is now working perfectly. Still a happy customer!

Update (20/10/19): The machine conked out after 4 and a half years. I sent it back for repair and it now works like new again. I had to pay, as the warranty had expired, but it cost me less than half the price of a new machine, so I’m still a happy customer. The water bucket is still intact despite my concerns about its fragility. This is a great product!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWe purchased this to help minimise the damp and condensation in our sons room mainly, while the actual causes were being rectified. It’s so effective that we use it all over the house now with great effect.

We have a smallish two bedroom house, with an upstairs bathroom and this adequate for the whole house, if rotated. For example, overnight i’ll leave it running downstairs, so when we wake in the morning, it’s warm and comfortable. During the day, we run it upstairs, so come evening time it’s warm and toasty when heading to bed etc.

Since using this, we been able to leave the heating on a very low setting, with minimal adjustments as the heat that’s produced from this is a real benefit during the winter months. Summer might be a different story.

The built in humidiStat control works very well and will switch off once the humidity relative to the dial position selected, is reached. The device is simple to empty and with overflow prevention, the unit will switch off once full.

One amazing benefit which wasn’t apparent at first is the effectiveness with which this dries laundry. Thinking of purchasing a tumble dryer? Buy one of these instead, seriously. Leave on overnight, wake up to dry laundry. Even better with an eco7 tariff although it costs hardly anything to run, anyway.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersAfter owning Ebac dehumidifiers for many years, I decided to try this model due to the generally good reviews.
It is very small and light which makes it ideal to move from room to room of needed. It’s also incredibly easy to operate and to understand the functions – instructions certainly not needed, which is always great for a man’s ego!
I’m currently running this unit upstairs and my much larger and more powerful Ebac downstairs. Despite the big Ebac being on max and this unit being on economy, this Ecoair collects a lot more moisture in the same timeframe.
My only criticism of this unit is the small water tank, which fills up very quickly due to the effectiveness of the machine, but that’s only to be expected in such a small unit.
I read the one star reviews for this item and they all seem to involve the machine failing, over various timescales. All machinery had a small number of rougues that fail so don’t read too much into those reviews. Personally, I think this dehumidifier is a great little piece of kit and highly recommend it.

The manufactures advised to run this on ‘full’ for 24 hours, then on ‘low’,all the time,to use less electricity.Does the job extremely well, without drying the atmosphere too much , not splitting wooden furniture, & highly effectively keeping mold at bay.Instructions easily understandable.Solved books being spoilt with mold behind furniture, so the manual vent is a plus to reduce the humidity to cover the areas most problematic , when hygrometer reads too high .No clicking of any moving parts, unlike some other models, & very quiet. After a few weeks of running the machine, I have noticed a huge difference in the humidity lessening from one bedroom to another,on lowest setting, ‘on’, all the time, the hygrometer in the furthest room.Does not run constantly,& is removing surplus water out of other end of the long flat I live in, highly efficiently.I have a 2nd machine at the other end of my flat,as have a narrow passage unable to centrally position,as recommended. The hygrometer is helpful,45-60% humidity levels were recommended by the manufactures.I bought a spare filter at the same time, as the new machine ,in case they changed the design,or I damaged the existing one accidentally.I would not want to be without either of these, as water collects in both, especially near the bedrooms. No more mold!!!!!

Brilliant Dehumidifier. Does the job exactly as described.

We had serious problems with humidity in our 1 bed flat. The EcoAir seems to have got it under control. Mould started growing so we bought a Humidity Meter and it turned out we had between 85%-90% humidity in our front room.

I left the EcoAir on Turbo mode for 4-5 days and the humidity decreased to a more comfortable 45%. The room feels nicer to be in and also the mould-ish smell has gone away.

I now keep it on a steady 45%-50% on Eco mode. At this humidity level it collects 4-5L of water a day and switches itself off every now and then when the room has the right %.

I have yet to receive a electricity bill for the last month but hoping it won’t be a massive difference.

Whenever I empty the tank I still shake my head as I cannot understand where all the water is coming from…and the fact that we were breathing all of it in for the last year before buying the EcoAir.

If you have similar problems with humidity and mould as we did, this is what you need.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersHad this for almost two weeks now and very impressed with it. Had very bad condensation turning to mould problem in the quite large kids bedroom. They have fitted wardrobes in which their clothes ended up soaking as they were built on the external wall of our property. It is an end terraced house. Ever year had a problem in October when cooler weather started and would have to remove all their stuff out clean with bleach and anti fungal cleaner to no avail as the problem was still there. This dehumdifier is absolutely amazing at how much water it extracts. I have to keep mine on all day and night but so far the walls are dryer as are their clothes etc. There room was always quite cold but now it is so much warmer so I don’t have to leave the heating on for too long. I hope this will last as I am very pleased with it. Aftet 2 weeks I did as required and vacuumed the filter. And yes it was dusty even though I vac their room every day. Only time will tell how good this is but at the moment I am sooooo pleased.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersA brilliant little machine. It works well and does not have any smell. It was bought because the flat I lived in at the time had little or no heating and so had to work at very low temperatures. It did this fine, even working in a room which was constantly at 0 or below. It sucked out huge amounts of water, which I needed after being flooded in 2013. I have now had this for over a year and now live in a standard 3 bed house. I pop it on the landing at night and move it around the house when needed. I think it is rather too small to do the whole house but as it is very light and portable it does not seem to be a problem for me. I can do the upstairs one day and downstairs the next. On horrid rainy days I also shut it in a room with my washing, turn up to maximum, and it dries my washing in a few hours for me. On the lowest setting, at current electricity prices, it costs me about 1 over a 24 hour period – which I think is good value for keeping your house mould and damp free. I highly recommend this product and I wouldn’t be without it.

Golden Review Award: 18 From Our UsersI was seriously impressed with this dehumidifier. We live in a family size detached house with four double bedrooms and two bathrooms. We were getting condensation streaming down all the windows every morning (it is also an old Edwardian house, so has the original wooden sash windows)
The day I bought it, I popped it in our hall and ran overnight on middle setting. In the morning there was ZERO condensation in our house and I poured away a full tank of water from the machine.
The noise is not so bad on middle setting (sounds like a fan blowing away). I’m not sure I would want it in my bedroom because I’m sensitive to noise, but I think it works best in a hallway anyway so it can draw the water centrally.
It is also nice to look at and is not heavy at all so you can port it around the rooms that are worst (but as I said I haven’t even needed to do this so far)
It dissipates heat so while it might be a cost to use (electricity) it does give a bit back. Note too that a drop in humidity means warmer house as week 🙂

I have read reviews saying this breaks after a few months, so I will be getting my warranty close to hand, but fingers crossed all will be ok.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersWe’ve been using this for a few months now and love it. It was originally purchased to speed up the drying process when painting a room, and worked a treat for that, but we’ve since been using it more generally, and very happy with its performance in removing excess moisture from the house. This is a typical older house in a damp climate. When it was built, I imagine it was quite draughty and so didn’t have such problems with damp build up, but these days it has modern well-fitted doors and windows, and condensation has always been a problem for this. When we first used it, it removed a lot of moisture very quickly (tray filled every couple of hours or so), but these days it only fills every day or two (despite the weather being generally wetter). We’ve also used it to dry washing very happily.
It isn’t particularly noisy on the normal setting; you can have it running in the background and barely notice it. On the boost setting (for washing) it is noticeable, but not annoyingly loud (you can have it on with the television, but you might have to put the volume a little higher than usual).
So far as energy usage goes, I haven’t tracked it carefully, but we’ve had it on a lot (maybe 70% of the time) and I’ve just received my energy statement and barely noticed a difference from previous ones.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersInstantly ready to use – just remove packaging! Attractive design, effective at removing residual moisture from the air. Our house is 300+ years old and naturally doesn’t have a damp course and suffers from damp the whole way around, but this dehumidifier works really well at keeping the worst rooms warm, dry-feeling and therefore removing the smell of damp. The tray is very easy to remove and empty, and has a good capacity – I can maybe fill it 1 and a half times in a day, and the room it’s in is very damp. My only criticism is that it is quite loud. It is impossible to have it on and watch TV in the same room without the sound being up high. There are some reviews on here where people say that they can sleep with it on in the room – they must have hearing problems for the noise not to bother them! Nevertheless its a really good unit, and I now have 2 – one at either end of the house.

Works, is quiet and efficient. Makes a big difference in our small holiday chalet. The big test will come in the winter months. Easy to use and empty. You can set a desired humidity level and the unit cuts off and on (like a heater). Two fan speeds, the lower is quiet, eg you can watch TV whilst its running and you can sleep while it’s on ! Higher speed is obviously noisier but gets the job done quicker. Cable is on the L/H side of the unit, water tray pulls out on the R/H side. There’s a small circular window on the front so you can see fill levels. It’s supposed to cut off when full, haven’t tested that as I’ve always emptied before that point. Hot air is expelled forwards or upwards depending on the position of the adjustable top. In winter this will both cure damp and warm a small dwelling or flat. Too cheap is a false economy, too expensive (eg an Ebac) is probably OTT for most needs and not going to give you (much) more. After research this seemed about right. Looking like a good buy – so far so good !

Bought this to replace our old compressor dehumidifier. Wasn’t sure about moving to a dessicant dehumidifier but very happy with the result. Quieter than old delongi, especially with low fan speed. Dries a full load of washing in under six hours, so we’re very happy with that. And that is with the low fan speed. Drying is fairly dependent on having the target to be dried in the airflow from the fan, and I suspect most of the drying action is a result of the output of warm air. However, also clearly effective as dehumidifier as tank is always full after six hours use. In fact my one complaint is that it could use a bigger collection tank. Perfectly good enough for us getting our washing dry, but perhaps not so good if you want to dry out a damp room, unless you’re happy to empty the tank several times a day. Much better than the old compressed type at low temperatures. It does have a strange smell when you first turn it on, but we have found that it quickly disappears.

Bought this product after reading a lot of reviews both on amazon as well as other sites and this proved to be the best dehumidifier on the market, after using this for the past month I couldn’t be happier. Great little product that arrives in a protective box, very quickly! Is very small and easy to use/lift. Roughly, the unit will cost 250 a year to run on economy mode (single water drop) for two hours a day… Thats about 20 a month!

It’s crazy how much water the unit can extract out of the air, it’s very quiet and has its own inbuilt timer so you can turn it on and then leave without having to worry! The filter is very easy to remove and clean and the water tank is even easier – I use the excess water to fill up our cistern as the unit lives in the bathroom. The unit (when the ioniser is turned on) does smell a bit strange, like clean plastic, but this doesn’t bother me at all and is better than having a damp musty smell. I have a very sensitive nose and after leaving this on max for a day in the flat with the ioniser on the place smelt clean and fresh! Can even be used to dry clothes on a drier setting, very good and quicker than using the central heating. Must have for those with damp flats!

Great device, and does what it says on the tin. It extracts moisture from the air very quickly and prevents condensation build up in damp rooms and on the windows.

I was debating whether to get this or the more powerful EcoAir DC202 Dehumidifier/ Air Purifier Upto 5 Bed House, 20 Litre but decided on this model as it has an air fitler and is quieter as I wanted to use it on the landing outside the bedrooms at night and not disturb our sleep. As it proved, it has enough power and efficiency for most houses.

With regards to noise levels if that is a consideration for you, the lowest level is comparable to a small desktop fan. On this setting you could sleep with it in the room or just outside the bedroom with the door ajar. The next level up is comparable to an electric kettle boiling and I use this setting during the winter, when i first get home after work and when cooking. The full power version is perhaps equivalent in noise level to a hairdryer and you would only use this setting in extremely damp conditions.

    Hope this helps.

When I say cosy, I don’t refer to the fact that it is ‘huggable’, but rather to the fact that it makes a cold room infested with damp warm as well. The main thing this item was built for though – and that’s the main concern for all buyers if you wish – it does deliver, I.e. It does absorb humidity in the air, and at great levels too. In other words, all that you are promised in the product description, it does. I think it’s particularly suited for places with no windows. I use it mostly In the utility room, which is with window but has an under stairs attached to it, obviously with no window and with a very cold external wall, which in the past has gathered mould. This little jewel does the trick there, and it has certainly been put to the test by the rainy weather we’ve had which has made the air particularly saturated with humidity. I don’t keep it switched on constantly, but only until the desired humidity level goes down for the day. But I also use it where there are no dampness problems, if however I have to dry my washing indoors. And it is very silent and small enough to be able to be stored discretely and easily enough anywhere. Lovely little gadget!!

I bought this Humidifier becuase we have had such great servce out ot the last one. We bought a BQDD122FW from B & Q about 8 years ago and it did the job admirably. We used it in the bathroom for 2 hours after we have finished showering. It removed the excess mousture and kept the mould at bay. My wife also used it to dry clothes in a small room. When this failed we looked for something different but they were either too heavy (ones with a refridgerant pump) or too expensive).

When I realised that the Ecoair had virtually the same model number as our old B&Q dehumidifier we bought one (the Classic Mk5). sure enough it is exactly the same controls and spec., and it does the same job in the same way. If your looking to buy somethikng to suck the moisture out of an old 5 bedroom house this is NOT the one to buy. Go for a big 20 litre per day job. However if you just want to keep your bathroom mould free and/or dry clothes quickly especially those delicates that you would not put into your tumble dryer, then go for this one.

You may hear people say that dessicant humidifiers are expensive to run but the actually work (IMO) faster that the others and therefore cost to run is not a great deal different between the two.

    Hi all,

To anyone looking to buy one of these, I can only say “Wow!!”

We’ve been wanting to get one for ages to reduce the condensation on our windows in the morning – we live in an older flat so it gets pretty bad sometimes especially this time of year and with all the raid we’ve experienced recently.

Anyway, to the point – this arrived promptly yesterday from Amazon. I set it up in the afternoon around 3PM and just for fun put on the Turbo mode to speed the proceed and see how well it works. By around 8PM in the evening (5 hours later), I went to turn off the unit and it already had just under a full 2 litre tank of water collected – unbelievable! We then moved it to the lounge and left it on over night in eco-mode which isn’t very audible so slept no problem, well this morning there was around another 1 litre in the tank and for the first time in months, opened the curtains and…no condensation what so ever in the lounge!

I will be running this little beauty for several days now until we clear out all the serious humidity we didn’t realise was in the flat in the first place, there will be no chance for mould, condensation etc!

Great product, nice enough looking, good size and portable with lots of nice functions!

I only received this product yesterday. However I have had it on, on the landing, for the last 12 hours on the auto function and it has extracted almost a full tank of water! I would not have classed my 3 bed semi as particularly damp, I didn’t suffer from condensation or mould. However I have been experiencing condensation building up on the roof felt and then running and dripping onto the ceiling boards. I have been informed this is due to not enough ventilation in the roof space for the size of the property but until I can afford to replace the facias and sofits and so add more vents, I needed to try and remove as much moisture as possible before it gets to the roof. Of course it is too early to tell if it is going to work for this purpose but based on the amount of moisture it has extracted so far I have high hopes!

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI bought this to try out one of the bedrooms. I’ve had it three days. It’s a really great bit of kit. It’s quiet, very efficient, very effective. It’s quiet enough to sleep through. It really works, extracting over 8 litres of water from the air in 72 hrs. The power performance isn’t something I’ve got into yet, but the machine does have an energy efficient setting (it’s the quiet one too) and the controls can be set to keep the air at a specific humidity or lower. If you leave it on the energy efficient setting and at 50% RH the device is quiet, energy minimal and effective. The water tank has a nice cover to prevent spillage and a handle to help you carry it away, the tank holds over a litre and the machine has an auto off, with red indicator light, when the tank is full. The dehumidifier is about 30cm by 45cm by 15 cm in size (or so, give or take 50%) and has a washable filter to protect the fan and workings from fine dust. I’ve not worked out if the expelled air is effectively filtered but it does produce a nice stream of warm, dry air. I’m impressed.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersI bought this as I’ve recently moved house and following a problem with the central heating, noticed there is a lot of dampness in the house – its an old stone house, so this is expected, but not to the degree we have and we really needed something to drain the dampness.
This dehumidifier is very simple and straight-forward to use and the instructions are brief and helpful, but if you’ve owned one of these machines before you can probably skip it altogether. There are around 4/5 settings including a ‘Laundry Mode’ for drying clothes. They say you should only use the laundry mode for (you guessed it) laundry, but also to dry very damp rooms – which we have – and it seems to work very well at this setting. There are also two power settings which are easily switchable.
Having put it one for just about over an hour, it had already drained about a pint worth of condensation / water from the air, and I’m sure if I’d let it on for more it would carry on, so I think it drains it very quickly and efficiently.
You can empty it manually by removing the ‘drawer’ section at the bottom (REMEMBER TO SWITCH IT OFF FIRST) or, you can insert a tube in a knockout section in the back and place the other end in a container / drain / sink and allow to drain itself. A tube for this purpose comes with the product.
Be weary that it does have it limits and will automatically shut itself off if it gets overheated or full and in need of emptying, so best to keep an eye on it.
Not sure if its worth 130 odd though but I guess you have to pay for this quality. The price is rather high, but there is nothing to complain about.

Recommend it as a really useful household tool. Chose desiccant as expected to use it at lower room temperatures. Chosen as an option to use with other options of gas central heating, wood burning stove, electric fan heater. It looks good and neat to have standing around or to tuck in a corner. As it has rained every day for a year (?) and I have to go out in all weather to manage animals, getting coats, overalls, gloves, boots wet several times a day, it helps to dry everything out. Great option for drying washing. The air feels good and fresh. It does warm the air but not hot like an electric fan heater, so could be used for drying when not wanting any heating. Like seeing how much water it collects. Really drys your hair (long, thick, rain pours off it as don’t wear a hat) also.

An update: Bought it in November 2013, I had no idea it was that long ago, it is still running and extracting moisture. It is on the landing always switched on at middle setting, it comes on for a bit whenever, showers, wet days, damp coats and clothing no worry, keeps the house fresh aired.

I bought this item when the weather started to cool as I was getting a lot of condensation and mould in my Motorhome, which I use frequently. I was amazed at how much water this machine can collect in only 2 hours. It also has a handy timer switch on it so you can set it for 2, 4 or 8 hours so it can be working whilst you sleep or are out and about. It’s fairly quiet during the day but takes some getting used to if you have it on whilst you sleep, with the quietness of the night it emphasises the sound of the fan. If the humidity is kept at around 50% then mould cannot grow and I saw a reduction in the frequency of new growth. There is an Eco setting which I do use, but I’m not sure how economical it actually is. Overall very pleased with my purchase and I would recommend it as fit for purpose, but as I said earlier not sure about how much it costs to run.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI am quite a fussy buyer. I do a lot of research and way up the pro’s and con’s before I buy anything, so when I picked this it was an educated choice. I living in a flat with a small bathroom and the silly fan in there is useless. after I shower all my walls will be dripping with water from condensation ect. mound was a problem on my ceiling so I decided to buy this. I can tell you from how wet my bathroom is that with this dehumidifier on full power it only takes an hour to dry. and you will be shocked how much water it collects. I am very positive that this will solve my mound problems. well worth the money. I am a bit worried about electric costs but I am sure with running it an hour each day won’t hurt me. however if its ran all the time, I can see it being a problem. so I suggest use sparingly however do not let that put you off buying one. The controls and construction of this machine are really simple, I didn’t even need a manual to work it out. however there is some useful tips in there, so its worth a read. overall from a fussy tight customer.. I recommend ! This is the machine to buy. 🙂

we had new doors and windows fitted but then have had bits of mold appear. We thought its because with our new doors / windows we have in effect ‘sealed’ the house up and moisture is getting stuck, it will naturally go to the coldest parts of the house and form mold. Easy to get rid of with a diluted bleach spray but how to stop it coming back, especially with a young asthmatic child?! we thought this device may work and several weeks later I am amazed at how much water its pulling out of thin air, we have it generally ticking over on the lowest setting and every few days i empty it, there must be 2 pints of water each time. By using showers / baths, drying washing, cooking etc, it all produces water vapour and this is the perfect way to stop mold, we have it in the room with the washing maiden and its dry within a few hours rather than a few days, amazing really. Its quiet on the low settings and simple to use. its no bigger than a carry on case for an aeroplane and very light to move. not cheap but none of these things are but yes it works.

We purchased the Ecoair DD122FW MK5 after we found moisture and damp building up in our new home (which is not so new – built 1926). Due to solid walls and lack of TLC in our home we have replaced floors after finding they were rotten (thank you to the surveyor – NOT) and put right what had been over the years put wrong!

We can now monitor the air Rh value using our recently purchased Thermometer/Hygrometer and in conjunction with the Ecoair dehumidifier have managed to stabilise the humidity. This unit works extremely well and is very quiet compared to other units on offer, the Laundry mode is an added bonus! The price, size and functions for this unit are just what we were looking for and worth every penny.

Highly recommend this unit – if you have a small 1920-1940 Bungalow where you have a build up of damp and condensation on your walls/windows, this unit will rid you of the spores and moisture, keeping your furniture/floors from either getting too wet or from drying out!

Unit arrived within a few days and very well packaged, comes complete with permanent drain hose (option on other units).

Golden Review Award: 96 From Our UsersI bought this dehumidifier to replace a DeLongi one that was failing and extremely noisy. It arrived a day earlier than expected and I put it in the bathroom which is a cold dark north facing room. At 11.00 when it went in the bathroom it was 17.2 degrees and the humidity was 99%. I checked on it at 12.30 the temperature was 19.2 and the humidity was 77%. Another look at 6.00pm and the temperature was 21 degrees and humidity was 61%. I had the fan set on the lower setting and the dial was on maximum but I then turned it down to about halfway. It blows out lovely warm air and I really like the louvres on the top which means the air can blow directly upwards or to the front for drying washing.

There’s a lot of chatter about how expensive dehumidifiers are to run, but I think there are several things to consider. The fact that the temperature had increased by nearly 4 degrees could mean that the radiator in the bathroom will be turned down once we put the central heating on. The warm air blowing out of the machine will keep the towels dry and mean we won’t need to use the tumble drier as much. The health issues around dampness concern me and given the climate in the UK I expect that people struggling with heating bills could hugely benefit from having a dehumidifier. Not to mention the condensation streaming down the windows in the colder months and black mould forming on the walls and ceiling. 140 well spent in my opinion.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI’m fairly happy with this humidifier. It’s quiet, compact (smaller than I expected) so much so I didn’t think it would be up to the job. I bought it replace my old one which was on its last legs (about 9 years old). I have it placed in the hallway between 3 bedrooms and bathroom. This little humidifier does an excellent job in keeping the moisture levels just right. I have it going all day switching it on in the morning and off when I go to bed at night. The downside to running 24 hrs a day is that can make the air too dry and costs a small fortune in electric. I checked my electricity usage over a week of running it 24 hrs a day (under the belief that it switches of when the right air humidity is detected), I was shocked to see that it really burns a lot especially if you have the fan running on high ( also has a tendency to cut out if the fans been on high more than an hour). I empty it once a day and that seems to be enough. On the whole a good little machine.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis machine is very quiet, clean and efficient. Much better than the ‘open refrigerator’ style dehumidifiers of recent years. It is very lightweight so easy for most people to move around the home. I have recommended this to several people and I know they have bought them. Ventilation in modern homes can cause algae and mildew problems. This machine removes the moisture that enables mould to thrive and thereby dramatically reduces damage to internal walls and ceilings as well as clothing and furniture. It also reduces cooking smells that are transmitted by moist air. It is cheap to run and gives off a small amount of heat which is not wasted as it warms the room. There must come a time when all homes will have one of these as the health benefits from spore-free air are self-evident.
It can also be used in a confined space to dry laundry. Works well.
    Highly recommended.

The above was written some time ago.
Three years later and it started to make a strange thumping sound then stopped extracting water. It was guaranteed for two years so I’m OK with that. It has worked hard since purchase. Probably an average of 2 litres per day. So, what’s that, over 1,000 litres of damp air that has not condensed on the walls, ceilings, furnishings, clothing. Purchase price and running costs is probably @1/day [6 months of year: 186 x 3 = 558]. OK, so that’s @55p/lt. Is it worth it? YES! Because it makes a noticeable difference to the conditions in the house. No mould, condensation [on double glazing], lots of dust removed from air. Black mould on window seals doesn’t happen now, because the airbourne dust that carries the spores can’t mix with the condensation to grow in the sunlight.

Just bought another one. but probably from a different supplier [can’t recall].

    Highly recommended.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersMy house gets pretty damp during the winter, it’s north and west facing at the end of the row and I have a central bathroom with no window, which I hate. I tend to dry clothes in the spare room from autumn to spring as there is little sun in the garden and I don’t like tumble drying. This little bit of kit is a God send, the laundry function allows me to dry a machine load in about 6-8 hours, and because it’s blowing warm air it heats the upstairs as well. I no longer have soaking windows which I had to faff about drying every morning, added to this I no longer have the dreaded fungus growth at the back of the wardrobe, not great when you get out a favourite item to find it ruined by fungus the bogeyman! On laundry mode and when it kicks in when I’ve had a shower, it is pretty audible but no noisier than an air conditioning unit. I usually leave it on in eco’ mode so it can regulate the humidity itself and use laundry mode when I need it. Eco’ mode is much quieter, personally I find the sound of the fan direction guide more annoying so this is switched off when I sleep. Well built, lightweight and easy to empty, I love it.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersBought this as we are living in a 1 bedroom flat which kept suffering from high humidity of sometimes 80% .
This has been very effective, very quiet, just perfect for the job. Arrived in good time, little over 24 hours from when I ordered it & delivery instructions were followed. Very pleased.

Looks stylish, clean & also has the bonus of air purification which is noticeable when you walk past it.
Good choice of settings & is cheaper to run that a dryer for getting clothes dry. So far it has not switched itself off, but is collecting lots of moisture in the bucket.
We hope it can keep the black mold at bay as our bedroom had lots of it under the windowsill which kept growing back & finally began to affect our breathing. Now, yet again, it has all been removed.

Ours is located in our kitchen which is in the center of all our rooms, it does state in the instructions to place it in a central location if you want it to manage all the rooms.

All in all, excellent product. Its just a shame everything’s so expensive these days.

My Eco Air Dehumidifier with Ioniser and Silver Filter plus with heat drying laundry arrived in 5 days on Isle of Man by Yodel signed for which was very good. I set it up and got it started in my bedroom. In 2 days it had drawn out 7 litres of water. the air feels much dryer in my bedroom. I moved the humidifier to the living room. overnight it drew out 3 litres, which I emptied over night and let it go throughout the whole day. I hve it on full at the moment but will switch it over to economy when the balance is right. I am very happy with the product. On full power it does make a loud hissing noise but that does not hassle me I am used to noise. I recomend this product absolutely. I had a terrible damp and mildew problem which I think will be sorted out now with this product. It looks nice and compact about 15 inches high by 11 inches across. A technical computerised attractive product with extra facilties which are handy it also fits in and looks good, I love it so therefore I give it 5 stars..

We recently moved into a period home and we really bad problems with condensation on windows. Some of them were so bad that there was mold growing on the actual glass -that’s right, the old owners just let it grow! The central heating was not enough to dry out the air so I decided to buy a dehumidifier and went for this one, because of the price, positive reviews and the fact that it’s quiet to operate.

I’ve had it for two days and I am very very happy with it. The condensation problem was solved overnight: the unit was literally on for the whole night and it in the morning the reservoir was almost full. Since then, it just turns itself on when it needs to (probably 1 hour in total a day) and no trace at all of humidity in the house.

On the low setting it’s not too noisy and you can easily sleep with it on, provided it’s not in the room where you are. On full power it’s quite noisy but I can’t see myself using it in that mode, except maybe when mopping floors.

I also think it looks quite nice, although my partner disagrees but then he’s always had strange tastes, except when he chose me, of course!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersWe are so happy with this dehumidifier. I was a little apprehensive as it had mixed reviews and it was quite expensive, but after waking up every morning with the windows swimming in water and constantly fighting very determined mildew, I was prepared to risk it and I am so glad I did! I did the research and this one seemed to fit our needs as it was big enough for our home. After a week the condensation has pretty much cleared up and there is no sign of the mildew! Yes, you can it hear it running but it’s no louder than a heater and you soon get used to it. Sometimes there is a slight chemical smell but it is not strong nor is it particularly horrible and I am happy to accept both the hum and slight smell if the condensation and mildew is no longer!!! It’s quite small and compact – we were expecting something bigger – and doesn’t get in the way. We are emptying it every other day with it on approx 8 hours a day. We are very happy with it and happily recommend it for a reasonable sized family home.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI bought this over a month ago and it absorbs about 2L of water every 24 hours.
I had a problem with damp on my clothes in the bedroom, I only had the damp problem this year but after washing ALL my clothes twice I’d had enough and splashed out. So I can’t say for sure that it’s solved the problem yet only time will tell….
The good thing about this machine is that it’s not on all the time, it clicks on and off when necessary. I can’t sleep with it in the bedroom but put it in the hall outside the bedroom and it doesn’t trouble me. The other advantage/disadvantage is that it produces a little heat in the room, this will be handy in winter but combined with the noise means I would never put it directly in the bedroom in the summer.
Don’t understand the reviewers who say it wet the carpet cos the layed the machine on it’s side. Well you wouldn’t lie a bucket full of water on it’s side and hope the water would stay in it would you? duh!
It is light and portable so not made of heavy duty materials, I guess kicking a footbal against it would be a pretty bad idea. As I don’t play football in the house I think it will survive ok.
    So far so good.

Arrived on time. Spent time researching and reading reviews and settled on this model and delighted. Had an existing damp problem in a bedroom which needed to be remedied with air-bricks, fixing guttering and external drainage. Problem was historic so bedroom needed drying out once source of problem resolved so used dehumidifier to take out existing moisture in walls which caused mould and damp in built in wardrobe. After couple of weeks moisture removed and room was dry and so were walls and mould didn’t return. On max removed 6 litres of water a day (i.e, emptied container twice). Cheap to run about 3 x 100 watt bulbs on max and one x 100 watt bulb on low, approx 5 or so a month. Runs relatively quiet and is anti bacterial and added benefit that damp musty smell has gone and room no longer feels damp. Auto cut off feature a must. Looks stylish and unobtrusive and not heavy so easily portable. I read that some reviewers had faults with product but was re-assured that dealing with manufacturer directly and not reseller should be easy should I encounter a problem (perhaps Amazon should investigate seller issues raised by other reviewers as ultimately they want happy shoppers).

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersI bought an old bungalow with single skinned walls. No wonder they sold in the summer. My first winter there was very cold, and it wasn’t even that cold, if you know what I mean. Hence damp problems. A lot of moisture on all the windows. I bought a cheap electric humidifier from a well known newspaper catalogue. It was useless. I then got a number of those chemical non powered humidifiers. What a waste of non recyclable plastic. I got this model due to Amazons excellent buyers review feature. I have found this to be a reliable indicator of a product’s value for money. It proved ‘right on’ once again. This was a good quality equipment, effective, ‘did what it said it would do’ piece of kit. It collects a lot of water and its quite good fun emptying your harvested H2O in it’s brimming plastic sump. Yes it’s a bit noisy, so what, its white noise; the type that probably helps you get to sleep. Was a bit mean giving it only four stars. Can’t really think of anything bad to say about it when compared to similarly described products. Presume it isn’t a British product. Shame.

The dehumidifier arrived relatively quickly (ordered on Sunday evening, got it on Wednesday), and when I first opened the box, the first impression was very good.

It is sturdy and well-built, the plastic casing feels good and well made. It feels like good quality plastic, and not the rubbish brittle ones. The whole thing is very compact, the handle at the top, buttons, and rounded corners made it feel ergonomic.

At the loudest setting, it sounds like a waterfall, not too bad really. At the lowest setting, it sounds like an air-con. I haven’t tried sleeping with it in the room, but I expect it should be enough to just use it in the day. In about 30mins of use (in Auto mode), it has reduced the humidity in my room from 76% to 70% and still going. There is no indicator showing the current humidity of the room, but you can just buy a humidity meter at 5.

The air that comes out is warm! Seems like good value for money.

One negative point is that there is a rather bright blue light from the side when it is turned on, which could get annoying in the night.
