Elden Ring Launch Edition (PS4)
The Golden Order has been broken. Rise, Tarnished, and be guided by grace to brandish the power of the Elden Ring and become an Elden Lord in the Lands Between.
ELDEN RING, developed by FromSoftware Inc. and produced by BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Inc., is a fantasy action-RPG and FromSoftware’s largest game to date, set within a world full of mystery and peril.
STORY OUTLINE
In the Lands Between ruled by Queen Marika the Eternal, the Elden Ring, the source of the Erdtree, has been shattered.
Marika’s offspring, demigods all, claimed the shards of the Elden Ring known as the Great Runes, and the mad taint of their newfound strength triggered a war: The Shattering. A war that meant abandonment by the Greater Will.
And now the guidance of grace will be brought to the Tarnished who were spurned by the grace of gold and exiled from the Lands Between.
Ye dead who yet live, your grace long lost, follow the path to the Lands Between beyond the foggy sea to stand before the Elden Ring.
And become the Elden Lord.
A NEW FANTASY WORLD
Journey through the Lands Between, a new fantasy world created by Hidetaka Miyazaki, creator of the influential DARK SOULS video game series, and George R. R. Martin, author of The New York Times best-selling fantasy series, A Song of Ice and Fire.
WORLD EXPLORATION IN THE LANDS BETWEEN
Traverse the breathtaking world on foot or on horseback, alone or online with other players, and fully immerse yourself in the grassy plains, suffocating swamps, spiraling mountains, foreboding castles and other sites of grandeur on a scale never seen before in a FromSoftware title.
GENRE-DEFINING GAMEPLAY
Create your character in FromSoftware’s refined action-RPG and define your playstyle by experimenting with a wide variety of weapons, magical abilities, and skills found throughout the world. Charge into battle, pick off enemies one-by-one using stealth, or even call upon allies for aid.

Buy it. Simple as that. Buy it. The game is brilliant.
It’s a great example of having a game ready to play on day one. Sure they do balance updates but that’s nothing new from the developer. If anything it’s extremely helpful. From Software has done it again. A brilliant game for souls players to enjoy and new comers to the souls like genre
No pesky micro transactions
Not riddled with bugs
Not over priced
Just a superb open world RPG with that satisfying combat system we all love and plenty of build options to keep you coming back again and agai
Players of other From software RPG titles will know what to expect…
Amazing environments and graphics…
Brutally hard bosses…
Frequent demise of your character…
Various NPC storylines to complete…
Tough but fair combat mechanics…
This is their first true open world class title. That being said initially some later areas are inaccessible until you progress certain early game locations, storylines and criteria.
I confess to being one of those players who can not get through these games without serious leveling up and getting the health flasks quota boosted as a priority.
So that being said, this game will let you do that from the start, clearing enemies / camps and gathering flask/seeds and tear upgrades by finding golden trees/churches as a priority gives you a much better chance of surviving.
I’d personally say the learning curve is slightly easier than Bloodborne or Sekiro and you have more freedom of choice in your direction of travel and how you approach things.
And the fact you can collect spirit ashes along the way helps enormously in fights where they’re allowed.. spirit ashes are NPC’s of various types that you can summon to assist you in battles as a attacker or just a distraction.
Cant recommend this game enough for those who enjoyed other From software titles.
May also be a very good value entry point for players who haven’t tried these RPGs before as it’s such a huge environment to explore and the many options for progression.
This is definitely a game of the year contender the graphics are beautiful the game play is strong and the whole game and the massive open world is something of beauty but it is a very challenging game you will die ALOT and it will be a long play through but if you are will to take your time and get better and better as you learn to play it then trust me it’s definitely worth it but you do need patience for this one and lots of time if you’ve got them both I can definitely strongly recommend it a well made beautiful game overall and I’m so glad I experienced i
challenging game that takes time and energy. kept dying even after watching the walkthroughs online. However, I still enjoy this game. i think it is worth the money.
Fromsoft creating a open world filled with the best elements of all they’re previous games rolled up into one. Add in the ability to ride horseback and u have what is possibly 2022 game or the year.
I’ve played all of fromsofts games and they are all great, but I liked this one especially. The open world is great as it has the amazing level design of their previous games, as well as atmosphere and settings. I played the ps5 version but bought the PS4 one for the better performance. If you have a PS5 prefer frame rate, get this version. I liked the ps5 version better so I returned this, but buy it if you haven’t yet.
The launch edition with the added extras is somehow cheaper than just the normal version. Snap it up before it’s gone!!
I won’t say much about Fromsoft because you’ll know by now their games are designed to be challenging and in turn rewarding when you finally over come the obstacle that’s in your way.
Can’t wait to sink more hours into this game!!
it gave reasons to me to buy disc instead of digital versio
First FS game, played nothing else since launch! Great exploring game, brutally hard though! I’m rubbish at the bosses, but love it!
As I’ve played souls games from the beginning I’m biased.
Challenging and rewarding with multiple play styles, you choose. Open world with large “dungeons” to explore(very souls like).
Doesn’t hold hand and very little tutorial, be warned.
The delivery took a little more than I would like, but other than that perfect expirience, and exellent game
Read the title of this review. That’s it. That’s the review. You won’t regret buying this game. It’s fantastic.
I love RPG’s but have always played on PC. I’ve also never played a Dark Souls game, but know of their reputation of only having a Hard Mode, and the ‘joy’ of dying 100 times per boss.
Therefore, I went in to playing this game [which has no easy mode] on the PS4 with low expectations of enjoying it.
However, the open world format, and fantastic characters, designs, game mechanics have made this my favourite game of the year so far.
Realising you cannot just whack everyone you see, is a learning curve of its own, but returning later to beat the Sentinal that stands outside the starting area is an absolute joy.
Go for this game. Its great.
Elden Ring is the first game I’ve played on my PS4 in years and it was worth every penny. Incrediblly immersive and novel gameplay for the oversaturated RPG genre. Highly recommended to those who like challenging but achievable missions and enemies. The bundle was cool, the patch is good quality and the post cards are nice. I do t have much use for the stickers but they appear good quality too.
Open world Dark Souls is a dream coming true for me. Can’t wait to play this foreve
a good game with a lo to think about which is good so taking longer than my son wants to play to get on to the next level
Amazing under each point of view, of course still keeps bugs from older versions
This game has quickly become on of my favourites, it works on PS5 as well and the delivery was there within a week so it was shorter than the time they said for delivery
The game actually came 2 days before the estimated time (was meant to come 14-16th of April but came the 12th. Having a blast playing it, so far hasn’t been too difficult. Highly recommended
Brought this as a present for my boyfriend, and he absolutely loves it, he’s been waiting for this game for like 2 years now and it’s definitely lived up to his expectations too. I ordered the launch edition for him so he could get all the cool items with it too, one thing I was disappointed about was that it didn’t come with the metal sleeve like it was advertised like on their official website!? Other than that it’s been very good x
If you’ve been a fan of Fromsoftware’s prior series (Dark Souls, Bloodborne & Sekiro) then Elden Ring is for you. It marries the best elements of the previous works and adds a good deal of exploration that will have curious players examining every nook and cranny with excitement.
My son is very happy with this game & it has brought me many hours of peace & quite so well worth the money
I Absolutely love this game even tho I’m only 7 hours in got tons of different play styles it’s great, plus the poster looks cool af but the only downside there is, is the fact that sadly I didn’t get “the ring” gesture or the guide book. I’ve got no clue how to get them, but if I somehow get it, ill make this review 5 stars.
If you are a Dark Souls aficionado, this game is going to be right up your alley.
All Soulsborne play styles are there.
Miyazaki has once again designed a game that won’t be forgotten.
I recommend 100%.
Rise Tarnished!
Arrived on time, haven’t seen my partner since it arrived!
Elden Ring isn’t a masterpiece but if you compare it and set it against what todays gaming world and what many developers seem to think is acceptable to release and charge consumers wages for, then Elden Ring is simply the benchmark for current gaming development.
EA, Ubisoft and any of the other AAA title publishers and developers should really take note and be ashamed
Elden Ring doesn’t hide behind next gen graphics, nor does it hide content in DLC packs or micro transactions. It rewards exploration, Discovery and actually allows the player to play the game
Ignore the reviews this game is too slow or too difficult, Reality show someone true and also doesn’t matter you’re not paced against anybody else there is no reward for rushing there is no rankings the leaderboards. This game is a breath of fresh air air in the current climate of QuickFix gaming which seems to have plagued a good decade of releases
Elden ring game that you can enjoy at your pace with a learning curve that doesn’t leave you behind other players and allows you to discover your own pace and reward you constantly
If you’re a fan of titles such as Zelda ocarina of time Mario 64 and remember the days when gaming was about playing a game that you’ve paid money for not having to compete against other players and wonder when the next expansion is it going to be released that you’re gonna have to pay for and you’re going to have to sink time into just to keep up
Ignore anything you hear about the player versus player aspect of this game that is optional and is not what the game is really designed for, But there’s a lot of things in this game like player versus player which add a new dynamic and challenge there’s no rush to do it and no pressure to be good at it
Ultimately the game is an enormous single player adventure with stunning level design interesting enemy design a multitude of equipment to find a quip and an RPG element of levelling with tremendous amount of options
If you like to get your moneys worth out of the video game and ultimately your hard earned cash this game is for you I’m currently at around 100 hours and I’d say looking online at walk-throughs I believe I could put at least the same in and I haven’t rushed and I have a dawdled but I have missed a lot of things which I’m gonna have to go back and look for
If you’re reading this review that means you’re on the fence about this game and you’re probably looking for a reason to convince yourself to buy it. And with the current trend of NextGen titles being 70 I can honestly tell you this game is a steal at the price I paid which was 44

Elden Ring is really a masterpiece. Thrilling combats, gorgeous world building, epic storyline and fantastic music… I love all of these!! Except… PS4 ver is capped at 30 framed per second, at times it could drop to ten-ish… I also feel at times the game did not registered inputs from my controller. Can be very frustrating during boss fights if only I got a PS5…
Elden Ring is such a beautiful, fully immersive open-world game that it draws you in body and soul, leaving you a mere husk of a man, attired in a dressing gown, unshaven, and with questionable body odour. Time no longer has meaning in the Lands Between. The world of knights, dragons and erdtrees seems that much more real to you than the one you left behind. I fear that many of us will need help to re-integrate into society once we have claimed the Elden Ring…
To those familiar with the Dark Souls and Bloodbourne games, there are plenty of very testing boss fights; some of which may have you tearing your hair out in impotent frustration; but do not despair, for the ashes summons ability is an absolute godsend, giving you much needed help. Other changes from those earlier games include a map; an ability to summon a horse – in order to quickly traverse the vast terrain — and greater freedom to explore. And what a world to explore! From dark, mysterious catacombs and mist-wreathed lakes; huge forbidding castles and lush green woodlands; corpse-strewn battlefields and lonely mountaintops. There are also a multitude of creatures that inhabit every nook and cranny of the landscape, all desperate to tear out your character’s insides and eat what’s left for supper. It is not a game that takes you by the hand and gently introduces you into its vast world; rather it starts with your bloody death and continues in like manner. Furthermore, a multitude of quests can be undertaken by interacting with other characters. After more than a hundred hours of gameplay, I’m still no near the end. I am Tarnished… help me!
Its an amazing game with alot going for it.. I’ve played Ds3 Bloodborne and sekiro and beat all them! This is open world madness in a good way!
Huuuuge open world souls game, made with the help of GOT GRR Martin. Quite hard, but stick with it. Genuinely one of the best games ever made. In my top 3, along with Zelda botw and Skyrim. If you like those, like a challenge and love getting stuck into a games lore, this is the one.
Such an amazing game that highly rewards exploration. If your favourite way to play is riding around and finding new and hidden areas then you will enjoy this game! This was my first proper ‘souls’ game (tried Bloodborne but the difficulty was very frustrating for me). What I like most about this game compared to what I have seen from the other games is the ability to walk away from the ‘main story’ and do my own thing, which helps with levelling up. In my opinion this is a great game for beginners to the franchise – but that doesn’t mean the game is easy by any means.
The reviews saying there is no story are just incorrect – there definitely is a great storyline once you get a few hours into the game.
If you like RPGs with lots to explore and challenging combat, check out Elden Ring!
It can keep me playing for a year I think. So good game play and graphics
This game was very unusual and unique. It’s gaming style is very different from others.
Easily one of the best games to come out in the last 10 years, it’s amazing! A difficult but rewarding game that everyone should try!
The game came sealed in cellophane still which was great, everything was in perfect condition and as stated was the launch edition of the game
No issues what so eve
With a ps5 upgrade available if I ever get my hands on one,Iv put in almost 100 hours in and still goinggreat price, fast delivery and in perfect condition.
Can’t fault the game , price and the vast size for the money. Game of the year so fa
Big fan of all the souls game played them all this is the ultimate version all rolled into one huge game. Open world excellent filled with minor areas and similar locations that don’t take to long to complete. It also has the bigger dungeons which are much harder that are just like the full dark soul areas as well. So the open world element really is just a plus and does not take away from the game.
The game at times goes on and on so should take well over 100+ hours to complete without any guide. Very good game Highley recommended. And even if you are finding it hard to beat a boss you can summon help from other players well worth using even if just to learn the battle then beat it yourself if you cannot. As with help as it does make the bosses health huge. Again highly recommended they have put a lot of work into this game and it shows .
I’ve died a million times but I’d happily die a million more because this game is phenomenal. Oh and the extras in the Launch Edition are so cool
This is quite simply, one of the greatest games ever created. There is a bit of a learning curve & the game can be unforgiving at first, but if you persevere just a little, level up, search & discover new powers, weapons, summons, Ashes Of War etc you can overcome the most brutal of bosses/enemies. All the tools to help you on your quest are there to be discovered/uncovered. It’s a breathtaking world that will keep most players busy for months/years finding new areas and secrets. It’s a huge game. FROMSOFT have produced some of the greatest games ever created/devised (Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Sekiro). Elden Ring sits proudly atop of this superb list.
Pros:
– Slightly improved visuals or lightning in the day over Dark Souls. On par in many ways with Bloodborne. Character models are good.
– Very nice art direction for the landscape, especially the plagued lands to the east with their red skies and fungus, there’s some variety of biomes.
– The creatures and enemies as above are numerous and diverse in their design, some in particular are quite unique.
– The music is solid, and unlike it’s predecessors quiet empty landscapes, there is ambience in this game now.
– You can ride around on horseback and fast travel too which are nice features, horseback combat and double jumps are included.
– A range of weapons and armor/outfits to suit the range of starting play styles (melee, dexterity, ranged, mage, faith etc).
– A day/night cycle with dynamic weather.
– A fairly big map to explore with various dungeons and even free roaming bosses, also many collectibles for crafting or special armour/weapons and spells.
– The game has new attack abilities learned from enemies or vendors that apply to different weapon types.
– The game now has jumping and crouching which will make the old games hard to go back to.
– A nice tough challenge that can always be overcome provided players LEVEL UP in easier area’s first, or farm runes (xp).
– There’s all the usual co-op/summoning.
– Good collision detection.
– Character creation is solid, still tricky to make someone that doesn’t look like a mutant, and a huge plus is you can edit your characters completely any time, from the mirror in the round table hub world.
– You no longer die from falling small distances.
– There’s many good aspects the the game.
Cons:
– First off, this game really is just Dark Souls 4 with some nice Bloodborne/cosmos aesthetics, there’s no denying this. It even has the same awkward crosshair for bows from Dark Souls 1. And many of the same animations, sound effects, some enemies, this is a big negative for a title trying to ship as a new IP like Bloodborne did. It does reskin/rename everything (bonfires, lanterns, now they’re gold lights called grace) but still could’ve done more to differentiate instead of recycling assets.
– Some visuals are poor for 2022, very basic grass assets like from the PS2 era or poor decals like some rocks.
– The AI can be a little goofy at times, but considering the difficulty this is normally welcomed.
– co-op/summoning isn’t perfect, it’s a bit odd due to the inclusion of summoning pools activated near a boss, which no one uses or knows how they really work. A put down sign is still simpler, though you must use an limited item now to reveal summon signs.
– Controls will take a day to get used to for Dark Souls/BB players, as X is now jump and Triangle now to read messages and collect items. L1/R1 + Triangle is to two hand weapons, but once it feels natural it’s ok.
– The runes (xp) from enemies is quiet small compared to previous games, tough enemies will drop just a few hundred, most bosses 1000-4000 until very late game where they’ll drop 50k+. Thankfully there are some farming spots. But getting to this point can be a little slow going, so one must persevere, and seek good weapons early on.
– Guidance of grace is a useless feature that just makes the map look more cluttered.
– Missions/quests have almost no logic and nothing to go on, to progress them takes trial and error, and in deeper quests pure luck in finding a random character in a random place (such as Blaidd in the giant underground map, obscured on the edge of a rock structure). The same for the main quests and the path one must take, little logic for the most part.
– Many will find this game too hard. Note to newcomers: pay attention to stamina, for harder attacks roll out the way. Do not wade into an enemy button bashing, pick your moments. And LEVEL UP! If anything or any boss seems too hard, go to an easier spot and farm runes (the games currency for leveling and experience) this is how you’ll get stronger and defeat that boss you couldn’t previously. This has been a staple of RPGS since FF7 and way before! Don’t give up.
Is this worth buying? So far, yes definitely, despite the few negatives I’m enjoying it and feel there’s a great deal of longevity, not just in the big map but I’m already thinking up play styles for the next character or play through. Throw in the vast amount of weapons, armour, collectibles and things to conquer, it can be addictive.
Pros:
– Slightly improved visuals or lightning in the day over Dark Souls. On par in many ways with Bloodborne.
– Very nice art direction for the landscape, especially the plagued lands to the east with their red skies and fungus, there’s some variety of biomes.

– The runes (xp) from enemies is quiet small compared to previous games, tough enemies will drop just a few hundred, most bosses 1000-4000. When you get to incredibly difficult or high end enemies in special locations, the xp can go up to 11,000+, thankfully these can be farmed. But getting to this point can be a little slow going, so one must persevere, and seek good weapons early on.
– Many will find this game too hard. Note to newcomers: pay attention to stamina, for harder attacks roll out the way. Do not wade into an enemy button bashing, pick your moments. And LEVEL UP! At this stage, not many other negatives to report on, but I’ll probably find more and update it as needed.
Is this worth buying? So far, yes definitely, I’m enjoying it and feel there’s a great deal of repeatability, not just in the big map but I’m already thinking up play styles for the next character or play through, which is a ways off yet, it’ll take a while for me to do everything.
Probably the best game i’ve ever played , even better than Bloodborne & i didnt think i’d ever say that tbh , just incredible in every way , i’m hopelessly addicted , 11/10
This game is awesome people find it difficult but honestly it’s all about the attributes in the game once you know how attributes work it’s not difficult.go on youtube look at the beginner guides and pick a class that suits you this is how i started. This is my first souls game and i,m loving it the visuals are fantastic the open world is stunning combat is so smooth.I highly recommend going on youtube and watch the tutorial video’s you will soon pick it up the reviews in the gaming press gave this a rating of 10/10.I don’t believe any game is worth 10/10 simply because there is no such thing as a perfect game in my opinion.i would give elden ring 9/10 it’s an awesome game. The launch edition is a fantastic price on amazon real good value.Learn how your attributes work and you could be the lord of the ELDEN RING.remember this people there are different classes all with different combat styles you don’t have to fight up close be a mage who deals damage from distance with fantastic magic spells or the samurai with his long bow.The choice is yours people.will you be the next ELDEN LORD.Paraffin-Alie
Many questions to what if there should be or not a steelbook in this particular edition. How do I claim the guide and the emote? All i got was 1000 points to bandai namco store and bunch of bad quality pictures to my laptop. Other than that the game itself is a masterpiece!
Haven’t seen my family in days. I hardly pee. I rarely eat. Life is now on a downward trajectory. Please help me. The game’s incredible.
