So bought this as a replacement for the ring pro we had.
The setup is very easy. Initial setup requires the hub to be attached to the router to sync. After this you can either leave the hub connected or you can have the option to use the wireless option. It only works on 2.4ghz signals.
Attaching the camera was easy. You can use the battery option or hardwire it. I hardwired it and the stability is brilliant.
The doorbell camera setup again was very easy when syncing. Quality is great both for day and night.
Signal range is great but depends of course where you hub is situated.
Notifications come through okay. Sometimes I’ve noticed a slight delay with push notifications but I can still manage to see what’s happening after.
To way talking is fine and clear.
Best of all storage is for free so no more fees like ring does. Best of all with the hub you can connect multiple devices and again all can be for free.
    Well worth the purchase.

Absolutely love our doorbell. The battery easy lasts 2 months on a full charge on the 30 second clip motion detection mode. Video quality is great, doesn’t have the annoying Ring brand chime and I love not having to trust Amazon or Google with my video recordings, instead storing them safely on an SD card. Has brought great peace of mind to our household. Would highly recommend Eufy products to anybody.

Not wanting to go down the cloud storage route, especially the paid ones, I originally had a Hikvision which would lose connection frequently.

After researching available models, and very very nearly going for Ring when it eas on offer, I opted for this one and am perfectly happy so far. Picture quality is great during the daytime and perfectly good at night at least in the location I have it.

Yes, it occasionally recognises car wheels as people, but I’m not on a busy road and it’s probably only 4 or 5 times in 4 months. The chime is plenty loud enough, though I wish they’d let you upload your own.

The still captures and video events are good, and the app is easy to use.

Couple of minor gripes. One one occasion the Eufy servers were down which stopped me accessing the saved footage, even though it is saved on the hub. Also using Alexa as a doorbell chime is hit and miss, one one occasion the Alexa notification was an hour after the doorbell ring. Likely an issue with the messaging between the two rather then the product itself.

Good build quality and packaged well, so pleased with the purchase.

I have the hub connected to the router via ethernet and no concerns with connection dropouts

So it’s been about 6month since I got this working and it works really well. The initial issue was that I was unable to find the base station. EUFY customer was excellent. A long story short is that the base station will only connect to 2.4GHz and since I have a Mesh connected to the Virgin hub it could not detect the 2.4Ghz properly, it kept trying to connect to the 5GHz. To resolve this, I created a 2.4GHz WIFI connection on the Virgin Hub and I connected my Phone/Tablet to this WIFI Connection, ran the app an the rest is history.

Battery lasted around 85 days from 100% to 4% using Optimal Surveillance, in this time it detected around 3000 events.

    PROS
    1. Picture quality is pretty good (real-time feed and playback)
    2. Doesn’t need a subscription

    CONS
    1. There can be a bit of a lag sometimes in the detection
    2. Battery can take a bit of time to recharge, an overnight charge did not fully charge it. mind you my battery was at 4% – I would probaly now charge it when it goes to around 30% this way an overnight charge would be suffice.

Would I buy this again .. YES
Would I buy this over a Ring .. YES .. I have the wired Pro version which is now used as a monitor for my Garden Shed.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersFinally got round to fitting the doorbell permanently in a self made casing , I bought the battery version but have hard wired it to an approved power supply so no need to ever recharge it.
It is AMAZING. The video quality is superb, the audio is almost illegal (you can hear neighbours in their gardens from 50m away if you use it via desktop and an app , it also works with Bluestacks . The night vision is fantastic and the controls in the settings menu is very comprehensive.
The Homebase reconnects swiftly by itself if there is a BB dropout. There is a tiny lag in video and audio of about a second but otherwise I cannot fault it. I have the Indoor 2K pan and tilt camera as well and all work great in unison.
The link to view on a desktop is
    https://mysecurity.eufylife.com/#/login
Just sign in as per the Eufy login email and password and you can watch 5 minute sections in full screen and perfect audio. In fact you can hear the birds singing so clearly.
    AND no bloody subscriptions. YaaaaaaaaaaY

I think the negative reviews are actually jealous Ring owners or workers Haha.

I am more than happy to let everyone know that since the demise of flashplayer it was only possible to view on PC using Bluestacks but I have now discovered that Eufy have updated the software online and the new security app for Eufy works directly with your logged in and registered Eufy cameras and doorbells.

Well done Eufy . 10 out of 10

I brought this product after much consideration and reading many reviews about similar products and decided this was the best one . I’m not disappointed . Easy set up , no subscriptions , great camera quality, no lag in notifications and you can set up face recognition, pet recognition and many other extras . Has definitely given me peace of mind , the whole household feels a bit safer with the knowledge we have a security camera . Highly recommended for your peace of mind .

The product is superb – both the build quality and the software (the part that really makes the product ‘plug and play’) have both been designed from the ground up. You can just tell it has all been created to bring about ‘a proper outcome’ rather than something that ‘kind of works if you are lucky but I wouldn’t bet on it’ as so many products do these days.
However I had a problem a little while down the line with the signal strength / connectivity of the unit.. so why 5 stars you are thinking.
Here’s why – problems happen, stuff goes wrong – that’s the rock on which we live, that’s life.
However it’s how these problems are dealt with that will always be my benchmark.
So I call the customer support line and get through to Rion.
OK so the product was good up until now but a really strong measure of the quality of a company is it’s people, and it does not get better than this!
Rion knew the product, inside out. He was adaptable to the situation (he could tell straight away that I am in the tech industry and kindly worked with me rather than following a corporate flow chart to resolve my issues) – The problem got resolved, the faulty part replaced and I would recommend this product and all the people behind it whole heartedly.

There are other products that do similar things in the market today (I have tried some of them)
but it’s not all about the name that you buy, it’s the product and people behind it.

Eufy / Rion, you have a loyal customer here!

To put any doubts I had to bed, this battery camera can also be wired to existing doorbell wiring – dependant on transformer voltage.

Video is Crystal clear. Both day and night. App is very quick to notify when someone is at the door.

The bracket the doorbell sits in is an awful design. Uses a SIM card type tool to release the doorbell to charge it, but you need the finger strength of a jockeys left hand to get it out – so much so that I would of returned the doorbell If it hadn’t been for the fact I wired it in and wouldn’t ever need to take the doorbell off the bracket. It maybe designed as an “anti theft” system, but it’s only sitting in the wall in 2 raw plugs. If someone wanted to steal it then it could be easily pulled off.

Took 2-3 days to get in the right spot as we’re elevated from the pavement with school activity going past twice a day. Now in the right place and motion detection is working well with an appropriate exclusion zone. I would advise temporary mounting until you’re sure it’s in the right spot for your door position relative to driveway/pavement and approaching visitors.
Doorbell functionality is faultless, video quality excellent day and night and audio is very clear too.
Amazon asked to rate wifi signal but this is dependant on where you site the base station so very subjective.
Need to remember this is not a surveillance camera, it’s a doorbell at which it functions well and is good value compared to other makes that require a storage subscription. To function as a doorbell it has to be mounted in a particular place which probably won’t be the best place to monitor any/all activity in the vicinity of your door.
One major flaw that I didn’t know about until I read the support forums is that if someone decides to forcibly rip it from its mounting, they can press and hold the reset button on the back which will then erase all your recordings. Bad design flaw which Eufy have said they’ll release a firmware fix for at some point. However, like I said, it’s a doorbell so if you’re worried about losing your collection of postie and Amazon delivery recordings then it’s not the product for you. Buy a proper security camera.

And I was right – 3.5 weeks, yes, 3.5 weeks, from fully charged to low battery shutdown. In it’s defence, this was the first few weeks filled with novelty, checking in every now and then on the live view. During this first charge period, I had it set to a high sensitivity of human detection in a defined zone covering a third of the camera’s field of view, within private property. It did sometimes capture people walking by on the very fringes of the zone however, so I’ve since reduced the zone further to stop this. It’s not much of a complaint however, as I took 180 days as a pinch of salt right from the start, and fully expected to be charging it with shorter intervals. Charging, by the way, is a breeze; releasing the unit from it’s mounting bracket with the supplied pin (think a smartphone SIM port release pin on a slightly larger scale) and sticking it on overnight, or until the circular status light turns blue. The release pin presents well (in the form of the Eufy logo) and is magnetised, so you can stick it on your fridge and avoid losing it – nice touch.

The unit itself feels well made and has a decent weight behind it (surprisingly so). Was super easy to install. Night vision is better than I expected, although I wouldn’t say the quality (day or night) is “2K”, subjectively speaking, but it’s still admirably good and satisfactory for a doorbell camera.

One drawback from being battery operated and thus not constantly recording is that the motion detection takes a second or two to activate. Might not sound like much but it’s enough for someone walking onto your property to have made it a good portion of the way to your door by the time it kicks in (unless you live in a mansion with a driveway a mile long). Still – it’s a limitation of any type of camera operating on this power-saving, battery-powered basis, and you’d need to invest hundreds or more in a proper CCTV system to combat that. I say “proper” as if this isn’t a proper system, and therein, I suppose, lies the gist of it. As a reasonably priced pretender, however, it is a very good effort and better than other doorbell cameras I have seen, not least because of the lack of subscription fees; in a world where everything seems to be subscription-based, we liked that there are none with this system.

The lag time between a motion detection event occurring and the notification on my phone is a little hit and miss – sometimes within a couple of seconds, sometimes (tens of) minutes after the event. This only seems to be an issue with my relatively old (2017) Android phone, while my partners new (2021) iPhone is practically instantaneous with all notifications. I’m sure there must be some sort of power-saving Android function that I’m missing somewhere, as I do have notification lag with other apps too.

On the whole, I’m pleased we bought this as it provides peace of mind that nobody is skulking about our front door at night. The presence of a camera doorbell isn’t much of a deterrent, but it should serve as part of a broader mosaic of surveillance and anti-theft measures you have in place, along with the added convenience it affords in relation to missed deliveries or being out of earshot of the doorbell sounder.

Had this now for several months. Love it!! Works so well, doorbell ringing alerts my phone, or using the motion detection records video clips and sends me alerts to phone – these can all be adjusted to your liking.

Needs wifi but no need for any cloud recording and monthly fees like the Ring. All recordings stay in the base unit.

I secured it with some perforated band over it, but the fixing comes with very sturdy base anyways.

Video quality is 2k, works well in sunlight or in the dark. Picks motion or recognises humans very well.

I can only recommend this! Anker is a brilliant manufacturer.

Did some research before buying this video doorbell. I was ready to buy the ring as it is widely advertised. But didn’t like the fact that I had to pay subscription to access my videos.
I am so pleased I bought this one. Quality is excellent, WiFi signal excellent and installation is straightforward.
I can access the videos and save, share or delete them on my phone. Everything is stored on a storage card that is situated in the indoor unit provided. So even if someone steals it, it’s recorded.
    Nightvision is great as well.
I like the fact that I can add more cameras in the future.
It can be hardwired or just used with battery. I’ve had it for about 2 months now and I can’t find anything negative.

This is a great alternative for other more expensive brands ;), and no having to pay for storage either. We did have a problem with the sound stopping working on the camera but Eufy customer support were amazing! Shout out to Nina. They first recommended some settings but when that didn’t work they replaced the camera with no hassle. The new one is working fabulously so far, only slight downside is that there is a delay in the ringing of the bell reaching my phone to alert me but our wifi isn’t great so that might be the cause. It would also be great to be able to have another doorbell alert that doesn’t have to be plugged into the wifi hub so we can put one further in the house as ours is currently near the door and don’t always hear the bell go. BUT it’s a great product, easy to use and the support for any problems is fantastic 🙂

There’s a slight delay between notification and alert on the phone but less than a second.

All works seamlessly and like the fact storage is mine and not based on any subscription.

Battery definitely not as suggested. I am charging every 2weeks only draw back (roughly 6 motions per day)

Definitely prefer it to ring. Wish I could give it a 5 star.

Only had a few days.. But very very happy so far.. Vision good, options good, base unit chime bolume adjustable. Minimal delay.. Quick two way talking.. Have a funny set up where our door faces our neighbors so to protect there privacy I’ve mounted on the back fence, this also gives a earlier warning as it covers the 7ft path from the street.. Can’t comment on battery, but very easy set up.. I have android my Mrs has apple.. I did the unit and both phones in under 5mins.. I have admin rights she doesn’t but you can have two people both have admin rights.. The only difference is admin gets to fiddle with settings and non-admin just gets alerts watches videos and has two way talk… I can’t comment on server issues which was one of the reviews I read but no problems so far.. Its actually so good I’m debating forking out an additional 70 for a back garden cam.. I just tested right now and the night vision is pretty dam good. I like the fact that you can live stream anytime what you see.. And you can get audio without people knowing you have audio.. So if you have suspicious characters hanging about by your front door you can hear what they are saying without them knowing.. I hope the battery lives up to expectation.. But the home hub has a handy 2a usb output so pretty quick charging and you can use it for phone and other bits too.. I have another cam from another brand I bought as a test and it won’t allow you to multi delete clips so the process is painstaking.. But on this hold down a clip and highlight them all to delete in one go.. Much better. I don’t want to speak to soon but I’d say worth the 140 price ticket.. (got it reduced) and love the fact that no wires needed.. This was the decider for me as I only rent so can’t be drilling holes and running wires all over the place.. So far so good.. FYI.. Initial set up tells you to plug in the home hub to your router on set up.. Initially the WiFi signal from my router to my fence wasn’t strong enough so I had to move my whole router.. However after I did this I then realised the home hub has built in WiFi and it only needs to be plugged in for initial set up so now returned and all is well.. I believe the home hub is where the cam gets its signal so it acts a a ext in effect but don’t quote me on that.. Ps no Monthly subscription and local storage so no security risks is also a major plus for me..

The unit is good. There are no instructions on how to set it up and it is not intuitive but by going on line and asking specific questions it is simple to get the required set up. The default activated every time someone passed by around 50′ away but the area surveilled can be adjusted to avoid multiple notifications. The night vision is reasonable and persons are easily identified. The Wi-fi works but the Homebase as only 3 metres away from the door so I cannot comment on range

So I’ve had a Eufy doorbell for about 6 months now. I’ve never bought a smart doorbell before. The last doorbell I bought also doubled as a TV aerial. Before you start to question how good a reviewer I can be after making a choice such as that, know that there is an awful lot of cheap plastic tat on Amazon. It’s probably 99% of the 60,000 items you get as a result for searching for literally any item, regardless of how specific. This doorbell is in the 1%.

I like tech stuff. I work in tech. A watched a load of YouTube reviews before I chose this product. Everyone and their husbands have Nest stuff, but that doesn’t make inherently bad. What makes it bad is that you have to pay for storage of your clips. In their cloud. I’m not going to pretend that the various shenanigans that occur on my driveway are in any way something basement dwelling hackers on the other side of the world would be interested in, but when TalkTalk have broken my internet again, it’s nice that clips still get saved on the 10gb of storage provided in the chime. What was also nice was the look on my Nest-purchasing friend’s faces when I told them that it stores them for free, without monthly payments. I’m fun at parties.

But honestly, it hasn’t been 100% plain sailing. Just after I first charged it (battery lasted about 4-5 months), it stopped connecting to the base station. I emailed (I’m not a phone person) their tech support, they were extremely helpful with troubleshooting, and when that didn’t work they posted me out a new doorbell, no (non-troubleshooting) questions asked. They paid the postage, and followed up to make sure the replacement was working. Since then it has worked perfectly. I’m also not really a review person, so without that I probably wouldn’t’ve left any feedback.

So to sum up, it’s not just the peace of mind a benelovent, sleepless, all seeing AI positioned on my porch that makes me love this product (I actually felt naked when it was briefly out of action). It’s the fact that when these shiny tech baubles inevitably stop working, Eufy has your back.

The quality of this doorbell is really good. First, it’s straight-forward to set up and it does not require a subscription. Once it’s up and running, the video quality is really good. The resolution of the video are very high, and very clear even at night time (which was a problem we had with another brand). The angle is very wide too – we placed it rather low, and it still can capture everything we wanted. It is extremely motion sensitive. The first couple of days we got alerts everyone someone was walking past on the opposite side of the street. Luckily you can set zone control and only get alerts in the specified areas. This door bell is also very fast, e.g. the video and images are not as lagging as other brands. And we had a lot of fun playing with it in the first month we had it, e.g. no zone control, night visions, online real-time viewing, so we ended up having to charge it after 1 month’s use. The charge was relatively fast, I left it charging before i went to bed and it’s done when i got up. But afterwards once we are more used to it, the battery use is reasonable, and we haven’t need to charge it yet.

When I first received this, I almost returned it when I saw the size of the doorbell, the large size is required for the battery, indeed it is a similar size to other battery camera doorbells.
Fitted it just after we had a new door installed, and if I had done better research would have realised that I could have wired up to the existing wires that I removed, anyway no matter it’s supposed to have a long battery life so we will see.
Absolute doddle to setup and install, picture quality is great.
Love the idea that I don’t have to subscribe to a monthly service to store videos that is done on the home base, which also acts as the ringer, so all in all seems a much better option than Ring.
Only dropped a star because I would love to see it a bit smaller.

I’ve had this up for about 2 weeks now and it’s great. It can have a very wide detection area, and when first set up it would pick up people walking by on the street. The software includes a working area setting, so I reduced the trigger area to only my garden, and it’s been fine since. I see daily the postie come by, and I’ve had a 2 way conversation with one courier so far. As there is no monthly fee, I prefer this to other, more well known systems.
My base unit is next to my internet hub so connection for me isn’t an issue, and the doorbell is only about 3m from the hub, therefore I can’t comment on distance connections. At this point I can’t fault it. Just make sure you realise the size of the doorbell unit before you buy, it is large, abs unfortunately I’ve only seen it in black. That means on my white doorframe it stands out, but a white version would have been better received.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersI purchased my doorbell back in January 2021 and I have some mixed opinions, which I thought I would share.

So far, I am happy with my purchase but it did take some time because I ran into a few issues with the motion detection straight away. If you have googled reviews on the doorbell, everyone tells you it’s one of the best and I am not doubting it, the doorbell is amazing. The video quality is brilliant, the no monthly subscription is excellent, the Homebase 2 storage is perfect. I am becoming a big fan of the Eufy products. The doorbell features activity zones, change in sensitive for the motion, Human detection AI and all motion detection choice, save your videos from the storage, and more.

The issue I had was the motion detection when I set mine up on my front door. The big issue I had was missed detections, which looks like is still an issue for some on their community website. I would have delivery drivers walk up to my door and the motion detection would not notice them, no notification or recording, a huge concern for me. Pressing the doorbell works fine, no issues there. With that concern, it led me to their customer service team. They were helpful, as much as they could do — which isn’t bad. They responded to each of my emails within 24 hours and I even had a follow up email a couple of days later to check if everything is still running okay. But they couldn’t really help from my opinion they tried their best is what I would say.

Edit: I forgot to mention when I was in contact with the customer service team. I mentioned the fact the doorbell will miss detection when person is wearing a facemask, especially the fact we are needing a facemask to go out. Their team replied back confirming the following “I understand the missing triggers would be the biggest concern, but it is still very hard for AI to detect someone with a mask.”, Which shocked me. They did suggest changing the sensitivity or removing the activity zone, which did not work for me.

I have finally got my doorbell to work successfully in the end. Before, the doorbell would not capture 1 in 3 people walking up my drive, whereas now its 1 in 30. Which is a huge improvement. There was no update that may have fixed this — I have checked the logs. It came down to location of the doorbell. I originally had my doorbell about 50 — 51 inches off the ground. A reasonable height for a doorbell, I thought, and facing the street. I also have a sloped driveway, leading up to my front door which might have contributed to non-detection. Going back to the customer service, I expressed if the slope could be an issue and there was no mention or acknowledgement of this from their responses. I do believe the slope did cause issues with my motion detection because I moved my doorbell down to 48 inches (which is the recommended height in the mounting guide) and I used their angle wedge as well. Since then, I have had successful notifications and detections, a win.

The Homebase 2 acts as a chime, which can be turned on or off if you wanted. Also, you can link up with the Amazon Echo devices. They work. When the doorbell is pressed, the Homebase will trigger and with a second delay the Echo devices will trigger as well. I am happy with them and not really bothered with the second delay. I did find my Echo 3rd Generation did not work as a chime with the doorbell but it wasn’t an issue — my work around was to set up a routine for it to act as a doorbell chime.

I also have the Echo Show 5 and I have set up a routine to load live view when the doorbell is pressed. I believe there is no two-way communication like the Ring and the Show’s, but I am not concerned. Hopefully an update will improve this in the future. Big issue with the doorbell and Echo Show’s is the time it takes to load up the live view from when the doorbell is pressed. It takes an average of about 5 seconds — which is kind of long. The quickest it’s been is 3 seconds and longest it has been is 9 seconds.

I have seen a lot of users post negative comments on the Eufy Alexa Skill, with a lot of people commenting issues they are having. I am not sure if Anker or Eufy are acknowledging this or looking to improve this in the future but it does seem there are issues out there that aren’t being addressed.

Overall, the doorbell is a good. It does what it needs to do but it might have an issue here and there. I do not have a Ring but I do have a family member who has one and to be honest, I preferred my Eufy doorbell. If only they could merge together, or Eufy started to dish out more updates with bug fixes.

    Hopefully this helped.

We got the 2k battery doorbell. Easy to install. It works if you have existing wired power supply too – your choice. We initially cabled the home hub via power line adaptor back to our broadband router but found it kept going offline. We couldn’t work out what was causing this but it kept happening. We switched the home hub to work on our BT wifi and it is working perfectly – it’s been online continuously since. Happy with the camera, coverage, image quality, sensitivity. The doorbell chime comes from the home hub which is sitting in our hallway and is loud enough. It’s also very good to be able to receive an alert on your smartphone and respond straightaway from wherever you are. We then bought a eufy floodlight camera and added it to our set up – this is working perfectly too. We like the data privacy – your video capture stays with you not elsewhere in the cloud.

Best buy this year so far! Motion detection is spot on and not had an issue with WiFi connection eveb though I have solid walls throughout my house. The only negative point I would mention is that I cant access the app quick enough to see who’s at the door, it needs tweaking. It would be handy of the door bell is pressed th3n the app could go straight to a live feed? Save clicking through everything?

The quality of the camera is first class these are the best battery operated camera system you can get,the set up is dead easy picture quality is 2k which is very good compared to other camera systems, I will be buying more for the back house.

I bought this as delivery people needed to let us know they are at the gate which is locked as we have dogs. It was pretty easy to set up. I was a bit worried as the walls are pretty solid and there is quite a distance between the doorbell and the base but it hasn’t been a problem. The camera does tend to get condensation over the lens on damp mornings – on the outside only so it wipes off. As others have mentioned the Alexa skill is disappointing – sometimes it won’t connect to the camera and even when it does it is painfully slow. Can’t comment much on the actual doorbell as no one seems to notice it where I’ve put it. Overall I’m really pleased – I weighed this up against Ring and read the reviews and still think I made the right choice, particularly as I want to add some extra cameras to the system later.

Great product if you do not have existing wiring or do not want an electrician to do this for you. Set up was a little clunky but once done you simply screw a retaining bracket to the wall by your door and click the camera/doorbell into place. Setting up the correct amount of motion detection took a few days of trial and error until i got the correct notifications of people entering my property and not simply walking past my house. I have found it to be well made of a good quality and i am very pleased with my purchase.

I installed this last week and it has been faultless. Some tweaking of the motion detection is required depending on how close your front door is to the path, but the motion detection is very configurable so not a problem. I did not have an existing bell or chime so the battery powered version was ideal. Based on use so far and projecting the battery usage out, I suspect the battery will last around two and a half months. The battery version connects to the homebase 2 (supplied), and chimes loudly when somebody presses the button. Motion detection will raise an alert on my phone if someone enters the detection zone. Motion detection can be set to human or all motion and it does a good job of making the distinction. Chime volume and phone alert volume is configurable. Intercom and video to the phone works well meaning I can answer the door from my phone, I can see who it is and can tell them I will be right down or that I am not interested (for those unsolicited callers). Finally and the deal clincher for me is that there is no monthly charge for cloud storage, which is what put me off the other brands. Videos are stored locally and available on the phone anywhere. Videos can be easily downloaded to the phone and shared as required.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI purchased this doorbell to replace a Google Nest Hello, due to google changing their cloud subscription options and increasing the price. Whilst the Eufy doorbell clearly is not as attractive as the Nest Hello it is the only doorbell that i am aware of, bar the Netatmo that comes with subscription free recording. On arrival of the doorbell i really didn’t like the design at first, it look big and ugly – a bit like the battery powered ring doorbells. (I have had the lot!). However i decided that ugly or not it was saving me 50 a year in subscription costs so i was going to use it. I removed the nest Hello and proceeded to hardwire the Eufy into my existing power. All went smoothly. However when i downloaded the app i realised that in order to set up the doorbell i had to scan a QR code to get the app to recognise the doorbell. This meant i had to unwire the doorbell from my door! Grrrr.. however clearly that was my fault for not reading the instructions. The additional problem i encountered was that the removal pin that is provided in the Eufy installation kit scratched the back of the doorbell when i inserted it to remove. This in turn meant my phone could not read the QR code. This then became very frustrating! Why an earth did Eufy print a QR code in the same position as where you enter a metal spike to remove the doorbell! Eventually i located the long code printed in the world tiniest writing on the doorbell and used this to register the doorbell with the app. All went like a breeze after that. The homebase, which the doorbell communicates with is small, fairly attractive and unobtrusive. It has flash storage of 16gb, which is plenty for doorbell motion footage. The doorbell alerts are almost instant on my phone and the homebase itself, however the Alexa integration is poor – sometime my alexa devices will not announce someone has pressed the doorbell, or if they do its a very long delay. The recorded footage is clear and of good quality. The sound is also very good. Night vision works well. The only criticism i have of the video is that the sky is very washed out. WDR has never worked well on any of my devices and becomes a bright spot in my video . The nest hello has HDR and this works brilliantly. However saying that who really cares about the sky being recorded!! It catches people fine in the recordings which is all i personally care about. The doorbell also has a poor aspect ration compared to the nest hello. On both doorbells i used the included wedge, however the nest hello managed to see all of my outside porch area down to the floor, however the eufy video only seems to capture from the waist up when someone is ringing the doorbell. This may not sound like a massive problem, however if you have a lot of parcels delivered like me it is real handy to check if the driver has left the parcel in view on your porch floor. With the nest i could do this, with the eufy i can not. The only way to fix this would be to 3D print a wedge that allowed the angle of the doorbell to point slightly downwards. Overall i think the doorbell is excellent. Once it is up it’s big, but not as ugly as it first looked. On the plus side everyone sees the eufy and rings the bell, where as previously people missed the nest hello and banged on the door. The only additional things i wish Eufy had of included in this doorbell is FTP storage to a local NAS/PC, perhaps Eufy can add this function in a future firmware update. Also i would have liked A wedge that not only added your 15 percent sideward view but a wedge to point the doorbell downwards slightly. Apart from those small changes i highly recommend this doorbell. Oh, Eufy, print your QR code someone on the doorbell where your release tool isn’t going to scratch it!!

First impressions are very good, just installed the kit, all went well, easy to connect to wi-fi, I have the homebase in the hall near the front door so signal is excellent. Daytime picture quality is excellent in 2k as is night vision. Alerts come in in approx 1-2 seconds once bell is pushed and a bit longer for motion detection but it catches all the action. Easy download of files on the homebase to your phone, I will probably wire in a transformer so it can be on full alerts without running the battery down to much but yep cant find a lot wrong so far but its early days, will report back in a month or so for an update.

I have had ring pro, the market leader for a year now. Constant disconnects, poor audio quality, inability to have a conversation with the person at the door due to crackling etc. Bought extra wifi hotspots, bought a google wifi mesh, cost me a fortune – nothing. Bought this after seeing a you tube review, and seeing that the you tube review was hearing the same audio quality I had. Put this in place of the old one, fabulous – perfect sound, perfect video, ability to have a decent conversation. Cant praise this product enough. I have attached the old power lines from the old one too and I don’t need to charge its battery at all. Great price, great product.

The doorbell was very easy to set up and the picture quality is good.
The only issue I have is with the battery life. It’s claimed the battery life is 6 months. I’ve had it installed for 12 days and battery is currently 49%!
I did raise a ticket with Anker support and they were very good at responding quickly with good information. It seems the camera handled 500 false alarms in a period of a few days that didn’t show up in the app and this drains the battery. I find this odd as the location of the doorbell isn’t on the street and there is no vegetation in it’s field of view. Support did say the 6 months is based on very specific conditions, one being a temperature of 20 degrees which isn’t often going to be the case in the UK, currently 3 degrees!!
All in all I’m happy with the product but if I get 1 months of battery life I’ll be happy.

Update – Anker customer support have been great and have sent me a replacement doorbell which has a much better battery life.

Tbh I had high hopes for this after reading lots of reviews, if this is the best there is the rest must be really really crap. Doesn’t always capture motion of a person & to be fair it’s never had a false positive. Picture quality is ok , nothing great. I bought it on sale via Amazon for 125 , if I had paid full price for it I would send it back.
With the whole bell being black it’s difficult to see where to press during the day as the blue light around the press button is practically invisible in daylight. It would have been better if the button was a light grey or something like that.

Having searched the internet for a wireless solution that was easy to install, easy to use and effortless, the Eufy Doorbell received great reviews from a number of channels. What stood out from other wireless doorbells was the storage on the base station (meaning no need for subscription payments to store videos), the resolution, picture accuracy, night vision and the clarity of the sound quality are all impressive. The response time is a little laggy which is normal for this type of product, having said that my brother has the Ring Doorbell which has greater lag and inferior image quality. The Eufy doorbell itself is slightly bulkier than the ring, however it is discreet at night and will illuminate when movement is detected. I have looked at the host of other products that can be purchased to attached to the system and will obtain a flood light for the rear of the house and the driveway. Well done Eufy, a great piece of tech.

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersOverall I am relatively pleased with this doorbell camera. When making the purchase, my primary objective was to receive alerts when people come on my drive near my front door. Primarily for security purposes. I see the remote talk function as a bonus, but not really what I personally purcased the camera for. For this reason my review may be critiucal in part, however this is likely more to do with my personal reasons for buying the doorbell.

Product install was very easy, just opened the box, installed the app on my phone and then followed the video guide from within the app. A firmwre update was done on the security base, which took around 20 minutes.

Once installed, I found that the audio is very clear, and image quality is very good during the day, and acceptable during night time. It’s at least comparable to other offerings currently available, and likely better than.

    Motion detection
This could be improved. Compromise has to be made in order to obtain good battery life. This said, some people are after outright performance (I’d class myself in this catregory). You may say I should buy the wired version, however eufy’s wired offering is older, and actually of a lower spec, and doesn’t come with a security base. I believe that this product is advertised as the successor to the original wired version, and in many ways in on par performance wise, or even slightly better in some areas. This said, I do feel that it should be improved further. E.g if used in wired mode, a 10 second continuous pre record buffer wouldn’t fgo a miss. It can take anywhere from 2 to 15seconds for the device to detect motion. more typically in my case it’s in the 2 to 7s end of this. Where I have experienced slower times is at night. Here I am referring to the time to start recording, and not the time to notify your device. I have been using the human detection option, as I live facing a street where walkers pass by on average every 5 minutes or so. I have also configured the zone to cut out the street from the detection. Motion detection should be faster in my opinion and more should be available option wise to extract more performance in this regard. All too often the video starts rolling once the person is already at your door. Based on this, if it were a criminal, they would likely spot the camera before the camera spotted them, and thus stay out of shot. I have read that an eufy PIR can also be integrated. I have yet to try this, but will likely do so in the coming weeks. I am hoping for the PIR to be a proper integration, whereby it just wakes the camera, and the camera still uses it’s own human identification algoythm too (rather than just relying entirely on the PIR, as PIR’s are also flawed in some respects). I will update my review once I have tried this.

I’ve actualy found the notification time boeth once a recording has started due to sensing activity, or due to doorbell press to be be very fast, and only a few seconds at the most. My security base is about 10ft from the camera, which connects to my network via ethernet cable. I would say this aspect is incredibly fast when considering market competition.

The last firmware update i have is actually 13/1/2021, so hopefully this is a sign that improvements are still being made. I do believe that this Battery or wired version with security base is currently the best on the market overall despire it’s flaws. This said, it looks like not all of the best features from eufy’s original wired attempt were carried forward to this more mature 2nd attempt.

So far i’ve used this for around 1 week. I will update this review after some further use.

    suggested product Improvements for Eufy:
10 to 15 second pre record buffer
speed up initial motion detection time for human events
alternate angle wedge options other than nothing or 15 degree. E.g 20 or 30 degree.
More options codedinto the software for improving performance for this device if being used in a wired configuration.

21/2/21 a further update on battery life. First battery charge has lasted 38 days so far and theres 18% left. In my case its seen 595 events, sometimes if people have been standing at the door having a chat then we’ve had 40 or so events in a short time due to that. I played with it a lot this time and the battery dropped a lot in the first week. The weather has also been very cold lately. Im expecting that next charge will last at least 2 months now that my settings are in place and im not playing with the features. Anotger point to note is the Eufy forum isn’t very good. I placed a couple of posts with technical questions about performance with wired/vs battery configurations, and no response was received within several weeks, which goes to show Eufy don’t commit as much effort as id like to see for answering queries on there.

8/5/21 after using the doorbell for a few more months, the battery lasts about 2months in my case. That time goes quick, and thus i do find it a bit of a faff having a doorbell like this. Id like to wire it in at sone point due to this.

What I liked:- Well made ( Good Quality), Easy set-up, Works Really well (Good detection and Camera)
What I don’t like:- There are no point that I can say that I dislike.
Improvements:- The application software. I could be wrong but I have not found a HOME or AWAY function where the user can switch off the Doorbell/Extended system with a main status button. It seems the user has to select a device and disable individually, it seems this would be the case for the extended system too.

Overall: A very good system, which works well and beats the monthly subscription charges. For me my data is kept at home, stored on the Home-Base, without a 3rd party and the associated security risks.

I have had this camera installed for 3 and a half months now and overall it’s pretty good, there are however a few issues which potential buyers need to think about.

Firstly the camera is easy to install and set up, it comes with sticky templates to attach to the mounting surface so you know where to drill without measuring, the bracket and included wedge are good quality and fit well. Software-wise this was easy to download and set up from the play store and found the camera and base unit really quickly. Both the base unit and the camera are well made and look good, the image quality from the camera is very good as is the audio when people are stood close enough to the camera. There are numerous setup options within the software and these all do what they say, the motion detection zones are endlessly customizable and generally work well although I do seem to be getting false motion detection outside of the pre-set zones sometimes.

As far as negative points go the first is the battery life, it does not last anywhere near as long as they say. Now, I appreciate that if I have it set to the higher end of the motion detection and more people press the bell than average the battery is not going to last as long as the lowest settings on motion detection etc however with how I have set the camera up I have found the battery only lasting 10 days to 2 weeks max. To make matters worse as soon as we went into winter and the weather got colder the battery life got even worse, this thing really does not like the cold at all. I have ended up buying a mains doorbell transformer to put constant power to it and now all is well, if you don’t have the wiring already in place for this like I did you will need to consider routing the wires to power it. On the battery front the other thing to note is that the app does not give you a notification to tell you the battery is getting low, the only way to tell is to open the app and check yourself which I found meant the thing had been flat for a day or so before I realised it was flat. The second issue I have had was with it switching to night mode. I have a street light opposite my front door which is in view of the camera. At night this light prevented the camera going into night mode until the light was obscured from view of the camera then it would click over to night mode. In practice, this meant that if I stood in front of the camera and blocked the street light it would click over to night mode but if I moved even slightly to one side or the other and revealed the street light to the camera it would go back over to day mode again. I bit of normal side to side movement had the camera flicking from one mode to the other and unable to record anything of any use. The thing is, even when the scene is street lit the camera struggled to record anything useful, there simply wasn’t enough light and there is no way to force it to just stay in night mode. In the end I had to fit an outside light on a PIR near the camera, this illuminates the area outside my front door sufficiently that the camera won’t go into night mode now and actually records a decent image.

All in all this is a good camera with a few minor issues, as you can tell I’ve had to fine-tune a few things to get it to work as I want but all in all I’m now happy that I’ve got a good set up.

This is my second video doorbell and I must say this is the best thing ever!! So easy to install with a cut out guideline to help with the placement. Easy to link to the hub and charge the batteries. The visibility is great and so much more than our previous bell. Night vision is really clear and it gives me a lot of peace of mind.
You can set the motion sensitivity easily on the app as well as the indoor chime you hear and the volume etc. Easy to delete clips you don’t want to keep (I.e. pictures of myself!). Definitely worth paying a little extra for a much better and more responsive video bell.

    Peace of mind

Only had for a few days but so far so good. Battery life gone down by about 10% over last 3 days but that’s with excessive use and so I think once the novelty has gone with everyone in the house with constantly checking the live feed I’ll get a better sense of the true battery life. Never the less so far a great product and no lag when pressing the bell. The Homebase is great and ringer is nice and loud and the alarm feature is also a plus.

All in all a great product but still very early so keeping a close eye

Bought to replace ring doorbell as I didn’t want to pay for cloud storage. In my opinion the Eufy product is light years ahead of ring. Small hub allows local storage of videos and also contains speaker for doorbell sounds which can be changed in App. Excellent picture quality and sound. I connected mine to existing doorbell transformer so I don’t have to charge battery. Fit on angled bracket is extremely tight when using transformer wires so I couldn’t use included wire connectors…..Not a problem as I soldered connections and used shrink sleeve to protect.
The Eufy app is brilliant and even
allows you to switch off wired doorbell sound and just use built in sounds on the hub. You can even connect to an Alexa speaker to enable that to ring if you want. The app allows zone selection to prevent unwanted sensor triggering. Also wireless cameras can be connected to the hub.
Brilliant product , and as a ring user for a couple of years I think this is light years ahead.

    Excellent replacement for ring dorbell

I had a Ring 2 on the wall initially and had a fair few issues with it in terms of motion detect and speed/reliability – not there is nothing wrong with the network in the house or wifi.

    Likes:
    Easy to mount (like Ring)
I think it looks better than Ring and not as intrusive
    No monthly fees!
Personally think its quicker to connect to compared to Ring
    Local storage
    Seasonal ringtones

    Cons:
Ringing is great but theres still a delay albeit shorter than Ring. Usual story, courier rings bell, you go to answer, courier is already one leg into his van.

Motion Detect also was good but too many alerts at times so I turned on the human AI function which filtered out all the cats, foxes, cars etc. But it was missing too many legit alerts too.

The App is frustrating when you want to view the bell only to get some sort of advert. But the Ring app was terrible when I had it and resulted in having to use a cut down version of the app just to be able to live view.

Plenty of more pros and cons but thats all I can remember …

It works well when someone presses the door bell and alerts us through Alexa. However I wish it was abit quicker on door alerts sometimes never alerts and we have set everything up correctly within an area. Also once I have had it ring about 10pm and no one was there. App is very good. It does 80% of what you think a doorbell video should act and do. I also think Ring door bell has its issue too

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersWell my expectations were well and truly managed after reading some of the reviews here. For 145 I have to say, I’m really impressed. Set up was super simple and straight forward. The instructions were crystal clear. Fitting to my door was a faff, but all in all it took no more than an hour to set up in total. Make sure you set up with ethernet plugged in then switch to wireless. I moved the storage box by the door – I’ll get to that in a bit.

The image the camera creates is super wide angle. You can put the camera to the side of the door and it looks fine, even without the adapter. The image is really clear and at night it does a fine job. My view is that the image far exceeds that of Ring (sorry Amazon!)

It takes less than one second for the box to ring and about 2 seconds for the phone to show a notification. Alexa took about 4 seconds. I think this is because the storage box is by the door – it’s really close to the bell. Make sure you do this for better results!

I have only had one time where the motion sensor didn’t pick someone up. Big deal. It’s primarily a door bell and for the motion sensor I’ll get a C2 next month and add it to the system.

Plenty of customisation too. You can rename the devices and add custom pre-recorded messages to the doorbell. It just worked.

I’m very impressed. And it’s cheap as chips.

I’ve attached a still from the camera at night. It’s pretty crisp – the video is the same.

The EufySecurity app is solid. Very stable, easy to use and is secure. No concerns there.
Finally I want to mention privacy. Unlike Ring, this video is not in the cloud, which means you are 100% in control of the content. And… No subscription fees.

Eufy may not be a well known brand, but you should know Anker, their parent company. Anker make very reliable tech products and are a very big organisation. You can buy with confidence. In fact, packaging with this product is exceptional. Unboxing is a total pleasure. Even down to the sticker that says “Security by Eufy”. Love it.

Update – The longest I’ve managed to get on a low traffic street is around 100 days. The picture quality is top class but there’s been a delay with Alexa notifications 4 times that can only be fixed with unpairing it in the Alexa app and re pairing it. Phone notifications have always been instant. Most of the triggers draining the battery are family coming in and out with shopping etc and that’s still with 60 seconds of retrigger delay, allowing a longer time would extend battery life even more.

Original – The doorbell was fitted over a holiday and initially I was blown away at the picture quality and battery life, 0% used in 2 days, but that changed quickly. Now that people are moving around it’s used just about 10% battery in 6 days which if that keeps up would result in it running out of battery 120 days before what is stated…

The picture quality zoomed out looks almost crystal clear and you can easily see faces but when you zoom in it does get blocky. The ring notifications are so quick that the doorbell is still playing it’s chime when your phone gets them and the ability to have it ring your alexas gives the option of a whole house chime.

I think the biggest issue is there is no cooldown on alerts like with nest etc… so if you’re bringing in shopping from your car and have to make multiple trips you’ll get an alert every single time you walk past it. That’s a simple fix that could be done with an update but it doesn’t exist yet so the battery gets drained.

TLDR – Almost crystal clear picture up close, instant ring notifications, no cooldown on alerts drains the battery quickly.

So I bought this item after reading alot of reviews, the main thing for me was that it had no subscription and local storage. I then waited till Black Friday when the price dropped substantially.

After installing it and playing with the settings for the motion detection it worked great there is a very small amount of lag in the notification if your using 4G but on WiFi it is very quick (best to have it on basic notification) also there is lag in the voice communication but not massive, I also noticed that the battery life is poor so after abit of further reading (on forums) I decided it would be best if I hard wired it to mains power.

To hardwire it to mains you need a 24v transformer (a Din Rail Enclosure – optional) and some bell wire or in my case I used a slightly higher rated cable.

I bought the BG 8-24V 8VA Bell transformer module & Wylex ESE2 IP40 Din Enclosure.

Note it might be worth using a more expensive transformer the BG one is noisy but as it’s in my porch I only here it when I open the front door.

The Homebase is also great and the Chime is very loud.

Setup is extremely easy and straight forward

All in all its a great Video doorbell and if you get the lot cheap including hardwiring it works out cheaper than a Ring 3 doorbell.

    Positives:
    – The camera quality is fantastic. Genuinely amazing, even at night
    – installation was easy for myself, using only battery.
    – works seamlessly with the Eufy Homebase.

    Negatives:
    – Motion detection is accurate however there is quite a delay (easily – few seconds) between it detecting something and you receiving an alert on phone.
    – at night, motion detection is not as good, especially in poor lighting.
    – lag/delay when using the microphone is fine. Bit of a delay but not major.

    Side note (good and bad):
    – we’ve installed it to a house, with a short entrance – 4 metres to the path, and 6 metres to the road. While neither is very busy, there is a steady stream of locals and vehicles who go past the house throughout the day. While we’ve set up an area that only triggers the camera, I suspect that because the camera is constantly having to monitor the street with the regular activity, it’s going through the battery much faster than the stated 6-month battery life. I’ll be looking to get a 12-volt wire run out to the doorbell in 2021 to remove this issue, or potentially using Eufy’s newly recommended workaround where a motion sensor is used instead of the camera.

Great product, very easy to install and setup the only draw backs I found were that occasionally it’s slow in notifying me that someone is there, my voice can be hard to hear sometimes if it’s a bit windy or noisy outside (when cars go by) and I put a little solar light in my porch to help improve the night vision. Motion detector is great, you can set the area you want to cover and also the distance so passers by don’t set it off. Overall happy with this product, good value for money, I brought the battery version and looks a lot better than most of the other video door bells on the market.

I ditched Ring due to the battery life. I had to recharge it every other week or so.
I purchased this one due to reviews that were saying it has better battery life than Ring.
I have to admit, i was very skeptical, but I was so fed up with Ring, I decided to buy it.
Long story short, I’ve recharged it after nearly 6 months of usage. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I’ve got the notification on my smartphone that needs recharging. Even then still had 10% left which would’ve lasted a couple of weeks.
Worth every single penny I’ve spent on it.

This arrive today and i have to say i am very impressed.
very well packaged and simple to set up.
I had it up and running in a few minutes once i fully charged to battery.
the 2k camera is very clear and i feel the camera functionality is a good step up from the Ring doorbell which i previously owned.
The homebase 2 allows local storage of my videos so no need to fork out extra cash for a subscription service.
I intend to add a eufycam 2 next week and i would be very surprised if that wasn’t a doddle also.
Seems to play well with my echo show 8 event if its a little slow to link up but the notifications on my phone a lightning quick which is what counts.

Picture quality is good. Night vision is almost colour as I have street lighting. The motion detection is very sensitive. I have set area for detecting but still detects outside of that. Notification is instant no delay. And the best thing is no subscription needed for recording

I booked a day off work for an electrician to install this doorbell (as well as do other jobs) and spent hours trying to get the Homebase to pair with the doorbell but it would not work. I checked with my internet provider that all was ok their end and it was. I tried calling eufy but no-one picked up, so I emailed them, asking them to have a technician call me , because they kept sending me emails suggesting ways to fix it, none of which worked. I wasn’t sure if it was something I had done wrong, because the instructions provided with the product are not comprehensive. I also needed a magnifying glass to read them! Finally, someone called me and I was hoping they would be able to fix it over the phone but she just said we will replace it, so send it back. I thought that’s not technical help but sent it back anyway. I received a replacement, got the electrician to come back (on another day) to fix it and it (so far) works fine – the Homebase this time paired properly straight away. Clearly the first one was broken. I get good pictures and loud alerts and am happy with the product. Eufy did also reimburse the cost of sending the first one back. I just could have done without the stress of having the electrician waiting to fix it and having to send him away then get him back again. So bit of a mixed bag, eufy.

Very pleased with the door bell. Used for 20 days so far and the battery is at 90 percent. Do be aware that the base station connects to the door bell via WiFi. Something to be aware of if you find your WiFi is not working as well after installation.

Great device. Comes with everything you need in the box to hardwire if you chose to, otherwise you can use battery powered which charges through micro usb. I have it hardwired and it works perfectly. The home base included rings pretty loud and I also have it set up so it alerts on the mobile and various echo devices around the house.
When on WiFi, live view takes about 2 seconds to load and about 4 seconds on mobile data depending on connection.
All motion / video is stored on the homebase, so no subscription required and super quick to access on WiFi or data. There is a cloud option available if needed.
Picture quality is super clear compared to a Ring a friend has and night mode is great also. The unit is a beast in size compared to Ring but you can see why with a non removable inbuilt battery that lasts a few months and which has a bonus of being a fail safe should the hardware stop working.
Overall would recommend. If you know someone with one Eufy offer an incentive of 40-80 vouchers / money off.

This battery doorbell is brilliant. The quality of the recording as well as the quality of the doorbell itself is like an apple product. It picks everything up you want it to and it works with Alexa echo dot which can announce to you when someone rings the door bell. I love that you can tell deliveries where to Place your parcel if your out. It was super easy to install and we are a huge fan of this door bell and just eufy products on a whole. The only negative is we live on a main road and the battery does drain quickly within a week. We could hard wire it but where we have it it would look unsightly on the inside of the door. I’ve changed all the settings to low and set the parameters but we get about a weeks grace before we have to recharge it. I still love it though. Worth every penny.

The video doorbell is of very good quality. The images and video in all lights are excellent. Motion alerts can be customised to suit your needs. So far the battery life has been good will know more after a few more months as it’s a only been installed for the past three weeks. The only issue is the alerts seem to be a little delayed, but that may only be an issue due to a poor wireless range from my router. Overall very pleased especially as I don’t need to subscribe for the main features of alerts and viewing saved footage.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWas let down by one brand that was soooo glitchy and had terrible connectivity. Then was put off by having to subscribe to the cloud to see videos of the markets best known brand. Bought this because it had its own hub that stores videos and boosts the wifi signal and is also a chime. It is lightening quick to respond and easy to share with family so they can see who calls. I’m also going to connect videos so excited by its hub. The batteries last long and the doorbell is solid and made of metal. The app is super easy to navigate and you can record your own voice for quick response messages. The back plate even has an angled piece add on for you to angle the doorbell camera. It is really quick to set up. My only crtiscm to Eufy is to make the doorbell plate out of metal to make it more tamper proof as it is an expensive bit of kit. But still love it and give it 5 stars

Outstanding door bell much better than the ring doorbell I installed previously.

Love the idea that the data is stored locally and not in some sort of cloud which I can’t get access to.

The ring door bell they have put too much emphasis on the CCTV element and have forgotten about the door bell. The ring door bell, when you press it most of the time it doesn’t chime. Which is not what I want from a door bell.

Eufy has done it right you press the door bell 100% of the time it rings inside. The CCTV element is great, great picture quality.

What’s better, there is no need for a subscription.

ot ideal for typical British front doorstep which is very close to pavement. Have reduced motion sensitivity as much as possible and tried to set the zone as close as I can to the house but still a fair few ‘false’ alarms from people walking past. Bit slow on notifications but not a fault of the system, more the poor Internet where I am in a different country. Funny listening to the wife gossiping on the front step sometimes!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThere is so much to love about this. We researched quite a lot of doorbells before we settled on this one.

This one has the added feature of storing your alerts and video on a Home Base that is sold with the doorbell. It means that you don’t have to rely on a subscription or someone else’s service to store your videos. You get the alerts on your phone and you can save them there too. I guess this does raise the issue that if there is a burglary and they take your Home Base with your SD card in it that you wouldn’t have the videos. (However you can download them on your phone as stated previously).

The picture is amazing on this and the night vision is also fab. During our testing, nothing was missed. You can set exactly the area you want to target for motion detection as well as the sensitivity. The alerts can also be snoozed as well so, if you’re working outside in the front garden by the doorbell, you can snooze the alarm to save the battery.

Being battery operated means it can be placed virtually anywhere.

The one thing that we found a little sluggish was the response time. When someone walked up to the door and rang the doorbell there was definitely a time delay until it alerted us on our phone. Mainly only a few seconds, and then another delay in hearing what the person said and when we were responding. It’s made conversations a bit clunky and also meant that many of the delivery drivers had up and left before we could have a chance to tell them to put the parcels in the porch!

Apart from that, it really is an excellent piece of kit. We have a few other surveillance cameras around the house but this is definitely our Best Buy.

I had the Ring doorbell and had to return it because as soon as i installed to my proch wall it would not connect to my wifi but i could connect at the end of my drive with it in my hand without a problem some 6 meters away from my property. I decided not to bother with a camera bell because i thought it would be the same for all, how wrong can one be after charging installing the app on my phone and tablet updating the firmware on the camera and the hub after connecting the hub to my wifi which was as simple as can be, it was time to fix to my porch i used the template putting it in the same area as i did the Ring doorbell drill the 2 holes fitted the bracket i did us longer screws and raw plugs than what was supplied( as i think the ones supplied are not long enough and would be quite easy for someone to rip it of the wall and steal) clicked in the door bell still all the time thinking it was going to be a waste of time!
As soon as i clicked it into place i got a notification i then closed both my front door and porch door pushed the bell and again i got the notification that somebody was at the door how surprised was i ? after fitting what was supposed to be the best and not working i was not expecting the Eufy to work either if im totally honest but it was working perfect.
The picture quality is as advertised its excellent, it works straight out of the box after a little charge and a few minutes installing the app and the firmware updates. The only problem that i have which isnt much of one is there is a 1.5-2 second lag on the audio when somebody speaks though the bell not sure if this can be change in the settings or not?

Things that i believe could improve the Eufy doorbell.

Face reconition so whenever myself or wife comes to the door or even when mine or my wifes car comes on the drive there is no notification.

It could also have a more secure way of fixing to the bracket other than a plastic push clip although it des seem very secure but have not used too much force as didnt want to break it.
The wall bracket and the angle wedge could be Metal and not plastic as this would be much better and stronger than the plastic one supplied. i am going to design and make a bracket so the bell is theif proof.

Overall though i am very happy with my purchase and with 20% of at the moment its even better value for money.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThere is so much to love about this. We researched quite a lot of doorbells before we settled on this one.

This one has the added feature of storing your alerts and video on a Home Base that is sold with the doorbell. Have had the battery-operated doorbell for a couple of weeks and so far I’m loving it. It has a couple of let-downs around ‘smart home’ integrations but if that’s not your primary requirement, it’s a great doorbell – especially considering there’s no additional ‘cloud’ fees.

    AS A DOORBELL
It was super easy to set up and install with two screws and looks great.
When someone rings the doorbell, it itself chimes, the indoor base station chimes, and any phones you’ve logged into the Eufy Security app chime as well. The indoor chime can be very loud, I had trouble at first finding the volume setting for it but it exists. There is a choice of doorbell sounds.

AS A MOTION SENSING SECURITY CAMERA
It picks up motion well, and has a setting to only identify ‘people’, so you don’t get false alerts from trees blowing in the wind. Of course, if you have a short path to your front door, by the time someone comes onto the path they will probably have rung the doorbell anyway, but it does a good job on my path. And luckily it’s far enough back from the street that passersby only occasionally trigger it (though I keep motion alerts off most of the time).

AS A DOORBELL INTEGRATED WITH SMART DEVICES
Don’t expect the same cool features you’ll get with Ring (owned by Amazon so well integrated with Echo Show) or the Hello doorbell.
Amazon Echo – when the doorbell rings you’ll get a spoken notification through your speaker that someone rang the bell, and option for the video feed to appear on your Show. It is slow coming through, and you can’t speak with your visitor through the Show – only see them. You can at any time ask to see your doorbell through a show, which is cool, but takes an incredibly long time for the video to appear.
Nest Hubs – you do NOT get doorbell alerts coming through these devices, you can simply ask to see your doorbell video. This is hugely disappointing.

The ability to get an alert on your phone with a thumbnail when someone rings your doorbell, press a button to have the doorbell announce to your visitor ‘We’ll be right there’ or ‘Please leave it at the door’ is super cool, or you can talk directly to them if needed. But for any other features with smart home devices you’ll need to look elsewhere (and have to pay a monthly/annual fee for their cloud services!)

OMG!!!!! 5***** Where do I start I have tried a few of the cheaper video doorbells and you do not realise how shockingly bad they are until you have tried the EUFY. This video doorbell is excellent. As you plug the base directly in to your router you get very little delay or drop out. It was so much better I also purchased the security camera. YES it is a lot more expensive than the others, you do not have to subscribe like RING great product happy to recommend.
Purchased in Aug 20 added 2 more camera and it is still working like new 🙂

We have used this product now for three months and prior to this we have had three other well know companies camera door bells.
This seems to have a grate clear picture and is very responsive in regards to motion and seems to be good quality when speaking with someone at the door in situations when you are not at home.
It seems grate investment and we have decided to purchase two additional cameras from eufy and system works brilliantley togiether. Missing feature is face recognition with home base 2. Installation and linking home base in to the home base was wery easy. I would definitely recommend this product and feel it is worth the money.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersFirstly, I can’t rate Eufy customer service highly enough. They are very friendly, helpful and willing to listen to issues that you encounter (best to email them as their phone lines can get very busy). I had to return my first doorbell as it stopped working after around a month, but apart from having to package up and arrange drop off with a courier there was little hassle in getting this resolved and replaced. Eufy also made sure I wasn’t out of pocket as well for having to return the item.

The doorbell links to the homebase 2 with ease. A few simple steps to set this up which include downloading the app and scanning a QR code on your phone to link the doorbell with the homebase but otherwise very simple.

The homebase supports a wired and wireless option. In my experience the WiFi signal is not that strong when having to pass through walls but this can be solved with WiFi extenders etc… The doorbell connects to the homebase so as to record and for liveviewing, so I would also advise the homebase is not too far away from the doorbell either. The homebase has 16GB included, with Eufy suggesting that this will be extended to utilise the USB on the reverse for additional storage in the future. It rewrites over old footage so 16GB should be plenty, especially as you are able to instantly record to your phone or copy footage from the homebase whenever you need to.

The homebase can act as a chime and is reasonably loud, but it’s a down firing speaker so sound can be absorbed by the surface it is on. As we have echo devices throughout the house we have set up the skill to alert us via those if the doorbell is rang and that works very well (we don’t use the homebase as a chime at all for our purposes in this instance). Video can be displayed on Echo Show’s but it can be delayed and you cannot use it to communicate with the doorbell either (no voice communication), so for ourselves has little purpose but doesn’t matter that much, as we usually have our phones to hand anyway and tend to only communicate through the doorbell when we are out.

Motion detection levels can be adjusted on a scale of 1-5 and zones can be blocked out that you don’t want the doorbell to detect. Our doorbell does not face a busy road, so has little to do other than detect those that come to the door purposely. It does however detect our neighbours but that is partially because our houses have doors on the side that face one another (not that close) but enough that the doorbell picks this up. This is however, where the settings and app come into their own.

Within the app you are able to set multiple settings based on your requirements. For instance, I don’t want to be notified of movement outside my door when I am at home, but I still want it to record video, but you can customise as you wish. I no longer use it as we have also installed the Eufy security system so choose to manually set modes (Home, away etc…) via the keypad most of the time, but we were using the geofencing option that generally worked very well. This means that if the phone’s linked with the app / Eufy account are out of the home zone, then you can have for instance, the homebase switch to away mode. For example, away mode could be set up to still record video but now notify you of motion detection as wwll. This did at the time prove convenient in not having to remember to open the app each time to change the mode over.

Battery life so far having not had the replacment device for longer than a month, seems very good. The doorbell is now sitting at around 80% battery life according to the app.

Installation couldn’t be easier. It comes with adhesive strips which I didn’t want to rely on, but is otherwise easily mounted with a couple of screws onto a brick wall. For security, the doorbell sits over the screws on a base and clips onto that. It is released via a push pin and so adds a level of inconvenience for a burglar to take the doorbell. Footage is of course stored on the homebase sitting somewhere indoors.

The camera is good both in daylight, bright sun and in low light night-time conditions, in that it is very clear visually. The issue I have (both with the previous device and the replacement doorbell) is that the audio is always around one second or slightly more behind the video footage (out of sync). It makes communication that bit more difficult but still works ok. I am hoping that some updates in the future will improve this and I haven’t seen it as a common issue for others, so while trialling various methods to improve, including having the homebase wired in via ethernet, it makes no difference. It could just be a disagreement between router and the homebase for some reason. Alerts however, are very much immediate for both movement and when the doorbell is pressed, so very impressed with this.

All in all, I would definitely recommend as it’s a premium looking doorbell that is well built to withstand the elements outside, has no subscription fees and adds another level of convenience and security with app features / settings that others lack.

It took me ages to decide on a video doorbell and after a few months of having this, I am glad with my choice. The battery, Motion detection and picture quality are great. We probably get a false alert for someone walking at the bottom of our driveway 1% of the time. The hub is on our 1st floor and I have had no issues with range to the doorbell. Alerts are almost instant.

  79. Anonymous says:

Did quite a bit of research before settling on this video doorbell. The fact that it’s 2K video is very clear and storage of videos is done locally on the home hub which is included were my main factors in making my choice. Subsequently I’ve added activation of an announcement via my Echo Dot when the doorbell rings so I hear it in my office if doors are closed. There is the option of activating alerts of motion including setting the AI to human detection so cars etc are ignored, but I found that I was getting too many alerts as my neighbours went in an out. So, I don’t use the motion alerts but the doorbell still records when motion is detected so I can go and review videos if I need to. Several reviews mentioned a slight delay regarding interactions with visitors, but to be fair it’s unlikely to be a major issue as I don’t have length conversations via the doorbell! All in all, works well and I’m happy with the system.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersReally very impressed with this, especially given the price I paid (160). This is why:

    – Excellent build quality and very simple to install
    – Brilliant and simple instructions – the homebase itself even talks to you to help and buttons light up that need to be pressed at the appropriate time
    – Great sound and picture quality and excellent field of view – I can be almost parallel with it and it still sees me. Speakers work very well.
    – Comes with everything you can conceivably need (screws and rawlplugs (including spares) additional mounting plate, even a mounting sticker template, ethernet cable, etc).
    – Clever design – e.g. there is a fast charging USB port on the back of the included homebase to charge the doorbell when needed
    – Great customisation settings in the app
    – Notifications are fast and lag is minimal (better than my Dad’s Ring doorbell 2 for sure)
    – The fact the video is stored in the Homebase is ideal and saves paying for internet services. It is also very quick.

Would definitely recommend to anyone worried about picking up a video doorbell that’s not one of the big 2 (Ring and Nest). Anker are a big name themselves now and own Eufy, so hoping this lasts like my other Anker products.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersQuite simply the best battery powered video doorbell on the market. I have tried various Ring Doorbells and they don’t even come close to matching this one.
    Build quality – Superb
Motion Detection – Superb – The in-built AI filters out all the false positives and only notifies you of actual relevant motion
Image Quality – Superb during the daytime. The night-time IR could be better but overall it is generally ok.
Storage – Free and Local, smart little box plugs in and acts as a bridge between wifi router and the device meaning you can position it for maximum signal. My old ring device used to tell me my wifi signal was terrible at the front door, this shows both Doorbell and Hub as excellent signal.
Another benefit is the ability to add on Eufy standalone cameras to the Hub as well – something I’m considering in the future.

I’ve had this Eufy Battery Doorbell for a few weeks now, and overall I’m quite happy with my purchase. The picture quality on both recorded video and ‘live’ picture is great, but will depend on the strength of your wifi signal. My doorbell is around 8-10 feet from the Homebase, which is connected to my router around 3 feet away but Ethernet. I understand the Homebase connects to the Eufy servers, so the manufacturers are not exactly truthful by saying it doesn’t connect to the ‘cloud’, as, if their servers go down you will lose all service, however I’ve not had this happen…….yet!
The motion sensor is quite good and you can set a motion ‘area’ so that you don’t get false alerts, and you can choose between ‘all motion’ and ‘human’ which works well. One drawback sometimes is the detection can ‘lag’ a bit and someone gets to my door before it detects them, but it captures the images clearly.
I have connected mine to a plug in transformer to avoid having to rely on the built in battery, which you can also get from Amazon for a small price. The video is stored on the Homebase (up to 16Gb which is ample), so if some thieving ‘scrote’ does manage to nick the camera, at least they’ll be recorded.
The overall cost is a bit high for a video doorbell, which is another downside, hence my overall 4 star review.

I received this Eufy Doorbell a week ago, my first purchase of a video doorbell. I struggle to see out of the windows to see who’s at the door when knocking and this is a fabulous piece of kit. The packaging is very smart, the doorbell and the Homebase 2 is great quality. It looks like it’s made to last. I’ve chosen the battery one instead of the wired version. Although you can wire in the battery version too.
When opening the box you get a booklet instructions, doorbell, backing plate to fix doorbell with flush to the wall or slanted. I’ve chosen to have it slanted. Also the Homebase 2 then the Ethernet cable plus power cable with 3 pin plug or 2 pin.
You get a guide sticker to help place the doorbell where you would like to drill holes. I fully charged the eufy doorbell and connected up the Homebase but then left the doorbell for half a day. The doorbell then didn’t turn on. So then I thought it didn’t work so when packing it back up to send back it just started again so not sure what happened then but eufy responded quickly to my complaint. We’ve had it up for a week now and it’s great. No more answering the door to sales people which I had earlier. There is a little bit of a lag between the motion detection but it’s not bad at all. Maybe a couple of seconds if that. I love how they’re no subscription with this doorbell and you get 16gb of storage on the Homebase. The camera is fantastic in day and night. We’ve had a bit of nuisance off our neighbour and already picked up the massive argument and music. We need proof so hopefully will help in that. I’ll have to see how long the battery lasts but it says up to 180 days.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersAs with all Eufy products this reeks of Quality. It’s an experience just opening the box.

The Homebase is much smaller than I had envisaged but is a quality product that you don’t mind having on display. Connecting the Homebase to the network was easy and setup is very simple.

The doorbell is rather large in size, but no more so than it’s rivals. To charge you can simply plug the supplied USB cable into the doorbell and the Homebase, about 8 hours later it was ready to go. As it is battery powered, setting it up on the door was easy and comes complete with an angle bracket as well.

Video and audio quality is very, very good. Motion detection has been spot on so far and the AI filters out any false motions alerts.

I was a previous Ring user but got fed up of having to pay for a monthly subscription. This doorbell doesn’t need one! It can store footage on the doorbell and can then archive off to the larger Homebase.

Also the battery on the Ring doorbells was terrible. So far I have had this doorbell in action for 1 month exactly; 282 detected events, 55 filtered by AI and 227 recorded and saved. The battery is now at 85%! I have also used Live View quite a few times as well.

The Eufy Security app is easy to use and seems to be very reliable so far.

Installation is straightforward, with very clear instructions. Even after allowing time for updating the firmware on both devices, everything was set up and working in about 25 minutes. All settings are made via the App, which I already use to control appliances on Eufy Smart Plugs.
It is a well built sturdy device, and all the cables and accessories are of good quality, and works well. Two criticisms from earlier reviews are valid though:
    1. Delay
The motion detection works and alerts promptly, but there is a considerable delay in viewing – as other reviewers have said, about 3-5 seconds.
    2. Echo Show integration.
All devices report that “there is someone at the front door” without significant delay, but if requesting the Echo Show to “show front doorbell”, the delay is up to 30 seconds.
Overall a good product, but over-priced I think.

I had my son help install this system and we’re both fairly impressed with it. As far as daily use goes, my wife and I are still early on, on the learning curve. As with most tech products it comes with only a minimal quick start guide to help get you set up and started. The basic features appear reasonably intuitive. Having unsuccessfully searched online for a more comprehensive user guide I contacted uefy. I was appalled to discover that for near enough 200 there is no comprehensive user guide available. Not only is this poor customer service, but typically arrogant of today’s tech industries to assume that everyone should be capable of working it out for themselves.

I purchased the doorbell recently (mid June) and thought I’d provide my initial thoughts in case it helps anyone.

The option for wiring was definitely a factor for buying and the setup was very quick and painless utilising the existing wiring and bypassing the chime. You also receive a wedge to change the angle of the doorbell too, which is a nice addition. I’ve found the chime to be instant from when the doorbell is pressed but there is a slight delay with notifications but having setup motion alerts too it provides enough notice to respond in a reasonable amount of time. The video does load fairly quick but found there to be a little delay in two-way audio when you first initiate the microphone.

It would’ve been better if the horizontal view was wider and the audio lag fixed, I’ve also noticed the doorbell button does not light up instantly when there is motion at night and can take a little time to come on so if you don’t have any other light it can be difficult to spot but the infra-red lights do help a little. It does seem Eufy are pushing a lot of updates to the product which has meant a lot of issues are being resolved.

I have also set my motion detection to maximum as I have no passing traffic and I only seem to receive alerts when there is an individual present, no animals or movement due to wind etc. I’ve not encountered other issues such as a problem with the servers being down as its been fairly reliable from the start. Time will tell how good/ bad it will turn out to be.

Overall, I’m fairly impressed with the unit and would recommend if over some of the others which I had been considering (especially Nest) due to having local storage on the hub that is separate from the doorbell.

Golden Review Award: 50 From Our UsersOverall, very pleased. Also please to have internal storage and a promise of future expansion capability via the USB slot on the home base.

Upside – easy to install, and useful voice messages as WiFi etc connects. App is fairly intuitive, and picture quality is superb. Seen comments on slowness to notify either via sensing a person or pressing the door bell. I have not issues there and alerts come through to my ipad, iPhone and Apple Watch quite quickly. Ability to integrate with Alexa to notify by voice and chime is superb when you have a few Alexa devices floating around

    Downside –
    1. No option to get Alexa show type devices to automatically show the doorbell video when rung on alert triggered (you have to ask Alexa to show the video
    2. Time to show the video on Alexa Show type devices is very slow, and will miss a caller by the time it comes up
3 App, whilst intuitive is has many channels to browse options and some times not an intuitive space. For example, device comes with a HomeBase hub, which is super in terms of security and keeping storage outside of the ringer…but,,,you have to configure how the HomeBase rings via the doorbells settings vs Homebase. Also if you are just a doorbell user, the Homebase is build for a lot more (which again is superb in terms of expansion to other cameras and sensor etc), but some features need more expanation, like the Alarms. I’ve seen a few chats from other confused by this

Would I recommend …. absolutely. I am sure Ring is great, but frankly, why pay a storage subscription every month when you can store locally inside your house and secure. So pay a bit more up front or pay later to get cloud storage with other devices …. your choice

    Update
Had it 3 weeks and sadly I am sending it back for replacement
TWO days ago the system appeared to reset itself and when trying a restart told me it had been updated AND all devices needed to be removed and re-added……effectively a re-install. Whilst disappointing I did that, set up is fairly easy. ODD as the version numbers where recent but not in this week.

TWO days later at 4am (today), I am woken up with an very pleasant Asian voice telling me ONCE again system is ready to install (that being from the Home Base)…..Ground Hog day – repeated the same process. Noted this was more difficult and the speaker was making crackling noises. Got it installed and decided to contact support

Pro’s: I messaged support and did feedback and got both responses within 1 day. That beats other supplies of reputable brand (beginning with Y and 4 characters). However as and IT practitioner I had tried everything they suggested and have returned the device as it is faulty

Con’s: Phone support only available in the UK from 6am – 11am, I tried and gave up with the wait time

Conclusion – A promising product with well through through functionality. HOWEVER given the home base is designed to be a jack of all trades (Cameras, Door Bell Sensors and looking like a home alarm system), this product needs to be more robust. The 16GB of onboard storage is good for one device, but put many on there … well that’s going to hurt. Promise of USB storage later in the year.

And yes, I have ordered a new one as other brand systems are all mostly heading towards “pay as you go” cloud storage, which frankly should lower the price to make them more attractive. OK 3 / month, not the end of the world but Eufy has nailed that with a hub inside the house, well encrypted data and then ‘who cares’ if the devices gets nicked as you have the storage in the house.

Message to Eufy —- feel free to contact me, I’d be happy to customer test your products. Reference number is #29670178

Update ….. a few weeks into the replacement product. Working very well and really delighted with the speed on notifications when the door rings. Works great with my Apple Watch and always nice to know when in the garden if the doorbell is being rung. Eufy have followed up directly with me on the post, as such very impressed with support and clarity of communication.

I bought this doorbell as a replacement for a Ring doorbell, which we had been struggling with for months and I cannot believe how much better the Eufy doorbell is. I bought the Eufy Floodlight/camera a few weeks ago and was very impressed with that so thought I would try the doorbell. The quality of the product is excellent and all very solid feeling, the video quality is also excellent and rings/notifications are received instantly on the homebase and on my phone within a couple of seconds. This knocks the socks of the ring doorbell which often took up to 5 minutes or more to ring and deliver notifications, despite being a few feet from the router, and we had no end of problems with recordings which more often than not came out as a black screen.

The Eufy doorbell was very easy to set up and literally took no more than 15 minutes. We had some existing wiring to connect it to which supplies 8V, and this was again easy to connect and is enough to keep it charged.

I particularly like the thumb nail snap shot which it takes of a visitors face…could come in useful! The App is very user friendly and easy to use

The only downside is that the home base has to be wired to the router, although this is not a major problem at all.

Overall an excellent product and I woud very much recommend it over competitors.

A genuine game changer in terms of video doorbells!

    VIDEO QUALITY
Strong quality with high dynamic range ensuring good visibility in all lighting conditions. The wide angle lens means you’re easily able to see across the front of your home, with minimal distortion of the picture unlike other wide angle lenses.

    FREE STORAGE
With the hub, you have built in memory so there’s no subscription fee to pay. As the doorbell filters out non-human motion, the storage lasts for ages. I’ve been running this in maximum surveillance mode for 2 weeks and have not yet filled the storage to the maximum.

You sadly cannot expand the storage just yet but this may come as the Hub has a USB port which could be used once the firmware is updated.

    BATTERY LIFE
Crucially – the battery life is outstanding and I forsee this lasting close to the suggested 180 days if used in the most efficient mode! Our device has been running in the most battery intensive mode for 3 weeks and has stored over 300 motion detection events, and the battery is now at 70%, we’ll probably have to charge this once every 3 months.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersThe delivery was very quick and the item came well packaged in an attractive box. I purchased this as a replacement to an inexpensive Chinese made video doorbell, which never really worked properly.
This was very easy to set up (especially if you bother to read the instructions – oooops). I also recommend you put the bell on charge before you set up and install. The installation was also easy, with just two holes to drill.
The whole system works very well, with alerts getting to the phone quickly – I have left the “Homebase Hub” connected by cable into my WiFi hub as I suspect it speeds up the overall response of the system. So far there have been no false alerts of movement near the door approach. The microphone appears sensitive enough to allow me to hear callers by the door, and the speaker loud enough for callers to hear me.
It’s also simple to save pictures or videos and to forward them to the police etc.
Overall, I think it’s very good value, particularly when you factor in there are no “cloud storage” charges. Based on feedback from my neighbours, who have Ring door bells, the EUFY is easily as good and in some respects better.
I have been monitoring the effect on the battery life of my phone, which indicates the app uses about 6% of battery in an average day, which is not too bad.

I’ve had this doorbell for a couple weeks now. Works perfectly. I had to fine tune the motion zone to ensure it only captures humans within my driveway. It now works perfectly.

First unit was defective, and was giving me a pink/red tint during the day time. I returned the defective unit and purchased another one. The new one works perfectly now.

The battery life seems to vary. I highly doubt it’ll last 6 months, even with average usage. I expect it to last 1-2 months maximum which isn’t so bad.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersEasy to install and connect to our exiting HomeBase 2. Alerts come through the app which works very smoothly. It is easy to set up a schedule or to “disarm” the alerts. You can view visitors through the up and speak to them directly by pressing the microphone symbol in the view. There is also a feature that allows you to record several messages (such as “no cold callers, thank you” or “please leave the package by the door” etc. These can then be played back on the press of a button.

    Very happy.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI have been watching this product for a while and waiting for it to become available in the UK. You can immediately see the quality of the system as soon as you open the box. Sturdy construction and quality finish to both the Homebase and the Doorbell. The attraction of this system to me was the local (Homebase) storage of videos and the fact that it would ring through all my Amazon devices. Installation was easy although I would like the instructions to be more detailed, what does the alarm function do, what do the reset functions perform, hard/soft reset? You need to work your way through all the app settings in order to know what it can do and to set it up as best suits your particular needs (the ability to draw the detection zone is particularly usefull). So, 5 stars for the product.
When you buy a product you shouldn’t be surprised when it’s does what it’s designed to do, the truth is you really never find out how good the supplier is until something goes wrong. The one problem I did encounter was that I could not get the doorbell to chime through my alexa devices (skill downloaded, enabled, accounts linked, settings correct and confirmed with Anker Customer Support). My friend Amor in the Customer Support Centre was outstanding. He kept me informed regularly of what the Tec guys were doing and assured me that if the problem could not be resolved I would suffer no loss. The problem was resolved in 48hrs with an update sent through and now everything works as it should. Customer Service 5 stars. After this experience I would not hesitate to purchase Anker products in the future, thank you Anker and especially Amor.

Golden Review Award: 27 From Our UsersI’ve been having issues with my Ring Doorbell 2 for a while and it got worse, so I returned it and got the Ring Doorbell 3 Plus, only to have the same issues but worse!

I learnt about the eufy Battery Doorbell some time ago so decided to give it a go. It’s really easy to install and set up as you’d expect from a battery doorbell. The build quality is also solid and the Homehub 2 looks modern and not intrusive in your home.

The video quality is great. I’m not getting any video stutter for pixelated video in Live View like I did with Ring. The ability to record my own Voice Response to play rather than shouting at my phone when someone rings the doorbell is also a great feature. The ability to add an activity zone rather than just distance is also great for a house with a very small front garden which is common in the UK. Notifications on the doorbell press are fast.

    The not so good bits:
The Live View does have a slight delay on it, several seconds actually, but this could be due to my settings and is no worse than other Video doorbells I’ve tried.
There is 1 person that walks by my home which always sets off my Motion notification despite them not being in my activity zone. Nobody else does, so it’s a bit odd.
The Field of View is a lot lower than Ring and the Angle bracket is only 15 degrees, so the front window of my house is no longer in view. It seems impossible to get a 30 degree angle bracket for the Battery version of the doorbell too. All the ones I’ve found are for the previous wired version which has slightly different measurements.

Overall; it’s an excellent product from Anker yet again. I’m already planning on replacing all of my security cameras with other eufy products. I just wish they included a 30 degree mount as well as a 15 degree mount.

Golden Review Award: 152 From Our UsersI’ve been in the market to buy a video doorbell for some time now but until now haven’t come across one which is subscription free and up to the mark. Netatmo’s offering looks promising but still isn’t available yet. Luckily this camera just came out in the UK and ticks all the boxes:

    – Subscription free
    – Higher than 1080p video
    – Includes chime
    – Battery operated
    – Near instant notifications
    – Compatible with Alexa

Installation was relatively straightforward and the ability to hard-wire power to the unit is a nice touch. After some tinkering, I managed to get both the chimes and all my echo devices in my house to go off when the doorbell is pressed. Notifications to my phone are near instant and the 2-way audio works well, albeit with a very slight delay. Video quality is excellent. Recordings are stored locally in the HomeBase so make sure you store it somewhere safe. As it’s still early days, I have yet to know if the battery life is as good as claimed but we shall see.

It is a shame that the battery doorbell lacks a 3s buffer as it means that more often than not, the recording starts mid-motion. I guess this is the compromise between battery life and functionality but it would be nice if it could at least be offered in the options. I also found that it was hard to strike a good balance of capturing people walking up to the camera vs capturing people just walking nearby. I found on occasion the doorbell failed to capture someone walking away from the doorbell.

The other real major downside is the poor Echo Show integration. When the doorbell is pressed, the Echo Show chimes straightaway but it does not show who is at the door, nor does it allow you for 2-way communication. If you ask to see the doorbell video, then you’ll be waiting around 30 seconds before the live feed is displayed and that’s if the video shows at all because more often than not it will report that the doorbell is not responding (video supplied shows this issue).

These two drawbacks make the Echo Show integration useless if you want to use it to see who is at the doorbell when it is pressed. I really hope Eufy fix this and if they do, I will revise my review and see no reason not to give this doorbell 5 stars.

    UPDATE:

So after nearly 2 years of use I’d just like to comment further on reliability. I have found that the Amazon Echo chime stops works periodically and requires a full factory reset to restore this functionality (the woeful app store reviews for the Eufy Security app speak for themselves).

Also, the doorbell sometimes goes offline and will remain offline until you factory reset it (the HomeBase unit remains connected).

Finally, the microphone stopped working at some point and after Eufy advised me to, (you guessed it) factory reset it, I’m now unable to re-sync the device back because it requires a working microphone to pair it back to the HomeBase rendering it completely useless so thanks Eufy. Eufy offered a discount on a new unit because it’s over a year old which I declined. I didn’t think it was unreasonable for a 200 doorbell to last longer than 2 years but I guess Eufy feel otherwise.

Probably the best video doorbell on the market but with one major flaw

Golden Review Award: 21 From Our UsersI have been waiting for the UK version of the battery doorbell (it can also be wired). Arrived in 2 days from ordering.
I had to buy the homebase 2 with the doorbell because there is no option for the doorbell on its own. I have 2 bases now ( 1 spare).
The camera is excellent and the notifications very quick. It took a few hours to fully charge before installing.
It is an addition to my eufy 2 cameras and syncing with my existing system was easy peasy. Also works on my Alexa Show.
    Great produc
