Had this saw 14 months now it has done thousands of cuts. It gets used for simple chop saw use across 3×2 scant for studwork. Can’t really fault it for that purpose. It’s not mega accurate but is more than good enough for the above duty. I’m still on the original blade, which has lost a little bit of the original sharpness but in no way bad considering the number of cuts and the cost of the tool. Treat it with a degree of care and you have a decent tool for a very fair price. I have a much more expensive item for accurate work so it’s horses for courses.
It takes longer to set up than to complete a DIY job.
Had to return item as I hadn’t checked the required voltage 110v no good for UK
It’s a nice saw for the price (lower end) and cuts nice and clean. I purchased this as an Amazon Warehouse return and it works fine but the box shows it with a household 240v UK plug on it which isn’t the case as it’s got the 110v trade plug on it (see photos) which needs a transformer unit to work and reduce voltage for safety on sites. I’m just using it at home so a normal plug would’ve saved me some hassle and once I purchased the transformer (around 50) I didn’t really save any money on the price of a new 240v model. It’s loosing a star for that reason, the box is misleading showing the incorrect plug. Other than that it’s a great little saw for cutting wood, says you can cut other stuff too but haven’t tried it on metal etc. Get a saw with 240v plug unless you’re trade or already have an expensive transformer.
The cable had been changed on the machine, which should have been a 3 pin plug, need to change it back again to what it should been and I wanted, unless I can find the correct extension to fit it. In the end, I have brought myself a transformer yellow to match the cable fittings, boy it was heavy and works ok.
Great tool, saved a lot of time when making my raised beds.
It was ok but the cut was to short and the screw for opening had rung before I got it so I had to drill it out but its sorted now
Great peace of kit, nice size for storing when not in use.
Perfect for DYI and around the house, 10/10 , small compact and powerful, excellent for cutting skirting, 2x4s etc
Bought for work, due to covid 19 not yet used, but looks the part.
Absolutely amazing glad I brought this should have got it soone
Good saw, used it a lot on metal. My only real issue with it is the blade size is a hard to find in local hardware places. The stick blade dulls after a short while on steel, still good for wood.
A very handy tool to have When you cannot set-up a full size sliding cross cut saw. It is compact in size but has no problem cutting through any wood or light metal framework etc. It has replaced my handsaw for cutting 4″x2″ timber and similar sized wood.
It cuts wood with nails in it thanks to the blade Evolution puts in all their saws, though I would use a purpose made metal cutting saw for doing this on a regular basis. It is easy to carry in the car, due to it’s small size and light enough to move with one hand. I have basically given up using a hand saw, jigsaw or circular saw for cutting timber to the correct length since getting this saw, plus the cuts are accurate for 90 degrees every time, Something that is almost impossible with a hand saw.
It also fits on a mobile workbench easily enough, so no dedicated stand is needed, unlike my full size sliding mitre saw. It’s the sort of tool that once you use it for a few jobs, you cannot imagine going without it. The only thing I would have liked is if it was fitted with a laser for lining up cuts too a pencil mark, but measuring with a tape or putting the blade down onto the marked wood before cutting is easy enough. I’ve been ‘spoilt’ by the laser on my full size sliding saw so lining up the cuts with this saw needs a bit of ‘old school’ measuring.
Other than the lack of a laser line, I cannot find anything bad about this saw in use, but it does cost a lot less than a full size machine so fair enough. One other thing though, you do need to check for how square the blade is cutting and adjust it accordingly if needed, using the small screws provided on the machine.
An incredibly handy tool to have and I highly recommend it. If you need to cut T&G flooring boards, you will need to buy the sliding mitre version of this saw, as the width of the cut isn’t big enough for this width of material without the sliding feature. So plan what jobs you may do in the future and maybe go for that version instead.
Update: Still a very good tool after 3 years, but recently had to set up a friends recently bought version aswell, as the blade was not square too the wood. Only took a few minutes to do, but surely it wouldn’t take much to make a jig at the factory to set things up before shipping? It isn’t rocket science is it.
Great little Mitre Saw, goes through wood like butter. Excellent for the job I’m doing.
Make sure you order the correct voltage though, thought I was getting a 240volt machine, I got a 110volt.
Good job I had a transformer.
