It is too early to know how this performs in terms of false alarms and battery life, but so far it looks to be a good quality product.

So easy to install and connected to a further battery smoke alarm in the garage where we have a dryer fitted. The units are so easy to connect/pair and once they are talking a touch of one test button will activate both (or more) to show they are working. Peace of mind at a good price. These are required in Scotland as a matter of building or fire regulations and I expect it will extend to areas south in the future. We had a wired alarm system in our previous home. It was good but needed an electrician and cost a lot more.

These were easy to install and because there were smoke alarms on one circuit and Wi-Fi controlled. It was an easy product to add. Would rate them to anyone . You can install them out with the interlinked method as this is all that is required by the new law in Scotland for all properties to have an interlink smoke and heat detectors. I have not found any faults.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI have five FireAngel Pro alarms in my network, one battery powered heat alarm (this item) and four mains powered smoke alarms (FP1640W2-R), plus the WiSafe 2 network gateway. The entire setup works great once interconnected and configured, which was surprisingly trivial and well documented (in English-English, too, unlike so many products these days).

Installation is easy, and everything is supplied in the box. The alarms can also be interconnected in wired mode if needed. Wireless works great though, so these may be suitable as retrofit if no 4-core wiring is in place for older units.

Notifications via the mobile app work well, both for alarms and fault conditions – however the WiSafe 2 gateway is required for this functionality.

Thanks to the interconnect if one alarm sounds, they all sound, which could make a big difference in case of a fire. And they are proper loud too! Battery backup is supposed to last 10 years, so hard to tell after a few weeks if the claim is true 😀

And since the wireless interconnect seems to be based on the Z-Wave protocol, these alarms are likely integrate with 3rd party home automation hubs, like the Homey Pro, albeit haven’t tested this.

I had a question for FireAngel support and emailed them, and got an answer within a few days – so plus for customer support too.

Having spent a lot of money on a complete system for my home, I can tell you but interlink is definitely the way to go. I did not opt for the Wi-Fi version more the single detector alerting all others in the loop. The quality is great I love the way the battery last for 10 hours and I like the way that also one test button pressed checks all units within the chain. It’s a clever design so easy to install and I feel much safer in my living environment .

the linking instructions are straightforward and simple to follow
installation is easy and again instructions are easy to follow
    they look ok
volume of alarms is loud, you are not sleeping through this noise!
These detectors are not cheap but if they last the promised 10 years it is money well spent for some peace of mind

After a prolonged wait from ordering because of manufacturing / delivery problems, these have been installed to comply with Scottish legislation. (I was kept well informed of the order’s progress by Amazon.) There’s no way anyone without a major hearing deficit will sleep through these interlinked alarms.

This works well, and the clincher for me was that the Fireangel battery alarms will connect with the mains ones – most brands don’t do that. It was an OK price when I bought it, and if you look around, the DIY stores have been selling them for 50 – but they have now run out of stock following increased demand in Scotland, where there has been a change in the legislation. Note that the Scottish Government are saying that because of the shortage of suitable alarms, nobody will be prosecuted; so it might be worth waiting until the price gouging stops.

It seems that my experience, with the Gateway, has been similar to previous reviewers, it is a very hit or miss product.

The first Gateway received looked like it had been previously used (missing packaging + scratch on front) and this Gateway stubbornly refused to connect to my network, producing the 3001 error code that others have mentioned (see photo). Consequently it was returned to Amazon for a refund which, to Amazon’s credit, was received very quickly.

I decided to try again and the second Gateway connected to my network, albeit at the third attempt. Adding the devices (alarms) was then a relatively easy process. In total setting up this second Gateway and adding my devices took around 10 minutes.

Without doubt, in principle, the Gateway is a great idea and, if it now continues to work as intended, it will be well worth the 4 stars I have given. Time will tell.

The Fire Angel Pro Connected devices are smart looking and fairly easy to install. If you just have the alarms, they all connect to each other wirelessly, so if one alarm goes off, they all do. You can add an extra alarm to the system easily by pressing the tiny button on the new device with a paper clip, then immediately pressing the test button on one of the other alarms in the system. So it’s very easy (if a little noisy) to add to the system if you want/need to.
The units are supplied with 2 screws to attach to the ceiling, but I used self adhesive magnetic plates to allow for easy removal if required.
The gateway links the system to the internet and adds Alexa compatibility if that floats your boat. Alexa integration is fairly basic – basically test and silence the alarms, but you can schedule alarm tests. More useful is the notifications from the app if there is an issue. It will notify you which alarm is triggered, or if there is a fault (such as the power going out).
Overall pretty good, and most importantly, meets the new Scottish requirements.

I have added this to the network of smoke, heat and carbon monoxide alarms from the same range, so that they can be controlled and silenced from ground level. We have tall and vaulted ceilings, so it saves getting the ladders out to test or diagnose problems. Easy to connect and use.

Ive been very happy with previous FireAngel alarms, Ive now got 3 alarms, heat, smoke and carbon monoxide. These all seem to function as expected and form a mesh network so that all can enter an alarm state if only one alarm is triggered. All good.
The app is glitchy and doesnt provide a slick UI as is usually expected these days with modern technology. The gateway is effectively a bridge between the alarms and the internet to allow monitoring and notifications via their smart phone app.
Its a shame FireAngel couldn’t reverse engineer almost any other smart home hub to see “how its done”

Bought three of these, a Fire Angel heat detector and a wall controller to meet the new Scottish fire regulations. Because it is a period property with original ceilings, I did not want them damaged by wiring so opted for the wireless option. All of the devices were physically easy to install but it took a bit of trial and error getting them to ‘talk’ to each other. Once linked, they are brilliant. Positively ear-splittingly loud!
I especially recommend buying the wall controller as it means that you can cancel false alarms and test the alarms from ground level. No more waving tea towels around!

Received this gateway and straight away got the dreaded 3001 error, called Fireangel support and still waiting on a call back almost a week later, however I returned this item as I gathered it was a faulty one so ordered another one and lo and behold it works perfectly so all my alarms link to it no problem. So if anyone gets a gateway with the 3001 error just return as it’s knackerd, don’t bother calling support as they were less than useless, who knows why they can’t say that it needs to be returned for a replacement.

I bought this as part of a kit that included a heat alarm, and CO alarm and 2 x smoke detectors.
I’d have given 5 stars but one of the smoke detectors didn’t have the hole in the WiFi module to pair, so I had to send that one back. Unfortunately buying a single unit was about 20% more expensive. I did eventually purchase one from another source that wasn’t the exact same model but was WiFi enabled and linked with the system I’d installed.
So, the make was the same but a different model. It still connected though.

I purchased 3 smoke detectors and one heat alarm which interlink via a radio link. They have a 10 year non replaceable battery in line with Scottish regulations which come into force early 2022. It took me about 5 mins to put each one up and another couple of minutes to connect them all.

I’m not a professional so I would rate them extremely easy to install – I attached via screws but you can use stickers. They are loud and all go off within a moment of one activating.

Not cheap but these long life battery devices all seem to be quite expensive. Saves on decorating after hardwiring though.

    Would recommend.

Bought a gateway to manage my existing 7 alarm setup in the house. Took some time to find instructions and download the app.

Within the app, registration challenging – kept on refusing to accept my details with no error message. Inexplicably worked at the fourth or fifth attempt.

Managed to register the gateway on the app, but the app won’t let you connect to an existing network, you need to do this via the web based installation “wizard”. I didn’t want the hassle of taking down 7 devices and reregistering them so went to the “wizard”

Logged in, found my account, but then anything else resulted in “Oops – Something went wrong. Please refresh this page to continue”

Tried another browser with the same result, so called the helpline.

the lady who answered couldn’t help, referred it to someone else and came back to me an hour later saying they don’t know why this happened and I need to individually pair all 7 alarms again through the app.

Awful experience so far. Need to wait until the dogs are out on a walk to repair all the devices as the noise distresses them

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThoroughly impressed with the system so far, it’s the only system on the market that 100% meets the new standards in Scotland without making you buy extra components to make it a fully linked system.

Admittedly it was a little finicky to set up at first, but I’ll be honest that was partly down to my poor comprehension of the instructions and being in a rush to set it up as fast as possible. Take the time to really read the set up steps and it’ll fall into place fairly quickly.

Only had one false positive and that was due to using the hairdryer about 10 feet from the smoke detector, I’d rather it was overly sensitive than not sensitive enough though. Glad to report that burning sausages on the grill didn’t cause it to alarm, otherwise we’d be having fire drills every weekend.

Back to the setup manual, it’s perfectly cromulent, but it could be simplified for the everyday idiot like myself. The average consumer likes quick easy installs and that’s been demonstrated time and time again.

We had a close call due to an unattended gas hob and fortunately only suffered a wrecked pan and a house that stank of smoke for several weeks, but following this I decided that I really need to up the fire protection around our lovely home. Previously, we’d only had two mains interlinked alarms in the hallway and top landing and neither went off when we had our “incident”. I invested in a gateway, controller, 2 heat alarms, carbon monoxide monitor and 7 smoke alarms. Connection to the gateway was a doddle and the controller is a great way of being able to test all the alarms at once (I’d definitely recommend the gateway too for instant alerts to a phone). Gone are the days of having to stand on a chair to test the alarms – the controller gives visual alerts of any faults and looks great as well.

I updated my old fire alarm system with this as it was a good solution. No wires and very easy to install. I would only question the wireless interlink kit (which was not so easy to get working). You can use the whole thing without it (with just the alarms). So does spending extra money on a thing that allows you to monitor the system on an app on your phone really bring added value? I’m not so sure. The app is good for seeing your alarms are working and testing them. Beyond that, I don’t see any other benefit and the cost is perhaps higher than it should. If the app could allow you to see the temperatures/humidity of the rooms they were in – I would love that. Sadly though I guess the more features you add, the more you drain the 10 year battery. Don’t get me wrong, I like the kit and would not change it as I want a safe system I can trust my house and family with. This kit does that well, but you pay a premium for it.

The FireAngel range is a nightmare – batteries fail and it’s difficult to know which is at fault as they’re interlinked. Now time to use the warranty on the alarms and co devices with flat batteries after 3 years.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersThe two most important things to note with these fireangel products is 1) Make sure you have ear-defenders handy when you decide to set your devices up , and 2) open the Gateway box , locate the instructions and throw them in the bin, they are useless and unbelievably point you to a website that doesn’t even exist. My instructions are much better.
If you are setting up the pro-connect system , before you do anything, install the app on your phone and setup an account. If you get that done first time, well done, it complained about my phone number, but eventually worked.
Now the app is installed, add the gateway to the app using the address on the device base — so far so good.
The rest of the setup is best done watching a youtube video, with ear defenders at the ready — this is a VERY NOISY process. Make sure you also have ear defenders on when fitting the units in the ceiling/wall as they will self test.
Once setup, the app is pretty good. I have had a few false alerts presumably due to dust, but other than that — so far so good. The fire angel support is a bit on the slow side, so don’t expect anything quick if you have a problem.

I had no problem setting this up. The range of the linking is impressive, easily from the house to a workshop 15m away. The alarms pair with each other really quick, takes a few more minutes to then join with the gateway. The app works ok, feels like it asks for a few too many details though (address etc). Yet to actually see if I get an alert in the app if a unit genuinely trips. I will have to fake a fire at some point.
Others say battery life is an issue, try searching the net for replacing battery in a fireangle. I’ll be doing that if they fail early.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI wouldn’t normally write a review but I think this lot deserve the feedback.

I had a new internet connection installed this week and it’s been going up and down a lot which is causing connectivity issues for the Fireangel gateway. Someone from support raised a ticket and contacted me today to make sure that everything was ok as my alarms were all offline. I’m not paying for this service other than the initial outlay for the device so I’m really impressed with this level of customer service.

I’ve had these alarms installed for a few months now and they have been fantastic, the CO sensor in the kitchen was triggered by a candle, so extremely sensitive and nice to know it’s working. Had another heat alarm when opening a very hot oven, my fault for putting it too close but again, works like a charm and all the alarms in the house triggered at the same time. No issue with battery life or connectivity with any of the alarms.

The app alerted me very quickly when these events occurred, very impressed.

It took 10 mins for 2 smoke alarms, 1 heat alarm, 2 CO sensors, 1 central control unit and the gateway so very easy to setup.

Fire Angel fault logging on the website was hopeless. As normal with an amazon purchase the return and replace pricess was great.

This should mean that for the next decade we have an effective safety control and meet the Scottish legal requirement.

Smoke alarm is not going off all the time when coming like the previous smoke alarm, huge bonus.

I purchased a set of three fire alarms plus one heat alarm and one CO2 alarm. These were the interconnecting (wireless) type. The three fire alarms would not synchronise to activate each other or either the Heat or CO2 alarms (whereas the Heat and CO2 synchronised satisfactorily between themselves). Upon calling FireAngel they sent me three new battery units for the fire alarms which then performed perfectly as it said on the tin. These new units also synchronised with the heat- and CO2 alarms so that all five alarms now announce when one is tested.

I’m very happy with this product and the others that I purchased.

It is important to install these correctly, and to be honest the provided instructions were confusing.

If you link all of your alarms together by starting with the heat alarm then lining the others to it one by one, you will have a quick and painless experience.
Once they are all linked together, open your app and search for products. You now have to watch the gateway (which you have already installed and set up an account for) for the indicator light coming on. This can take a short while, but as soon as you see it, you press the test button on any alarm. This will then populate your app with your products. Again, be patient!

I now get alerts if there is an alarm or internet outage which is comforting, except on the occasion of getting a false alarm from the carbon monoxide alarm. As a qualified gas Safe engineer I was able to immediately check for carbon monoxide and to check the safe operation of the boiler – there were no issues, but this could have cost a home owner money to have it checked, as well as the worry it could cause. It’s only happened once, so I’ll need to consider it to be a blip unless it becomes a regular occurrence.

This is my second one of these as the first kept giving a fail notification. This was replaced and the replacement installed as per instructions and it worked well for about a week. Now it keeps notifying me that there is a fault. Tried everything but no joy. Contacted technical support but this is currently not good for this type of fault. It an be difficult to get through and direct contact with the engineers via email seems to be “script” support rather than detailed diagnosis. Still awaiting a resolution to the problem and currently have it disconnected to avoid emails and notifications as was getting them about every 30mins or hourly. Not really worth the effort or money.

    UPDATE
Replacement and assistance via tech support got all the issues resolved. It seems that a couple of faulty detectors were the reason for all the gateway issues (unclear as to what was wrong with them) and when these were replaced everything is working fine now. Great service from tech support, highly recommend.

This was easy to fit, is discrete, and easy to link up to other Fire Angel devices wirelessly.
No idea (yet) if the battery life is as described, but in all other aspects the smoke alarm is great!

I’ve used these for the last 5 years.
Does exactly what it says on the box!
Only negative is that the 10 year battery life appears to be twice the actual running time?
This is the second unit I’ve had to replace due to battery failure.

Golden Review Award: 19 From Our UsersTo comply with the forthcoming Scottish legislation (resulting from the Grenfell fire in London), we recently installed 3 interlinked long-life battery powered smoke and heat detectors from FireAngel through Amazon. Two smoke detectors for the lounge and hall, and a heat detector for the kitchen. We installed them on the ceiling using magnetic stickers, also from Amazon. It’s a great, robust solution to avoid drilling holes plasterboard, etc. In addition, this FireAngel Pro Connected Smart Alarm Control Unit now installed conveniently on a lounge wall, allows us to test the fire alarm system once a month, without having climb a ladder or steps to press one of the test buttons on any of the smoke / heat detectors. The FireAngel Pro Connected Smart Alarm Control Unit buttons seem robust and well designed. So thank you once again.

As the alarm has not been activated but tests OK. it seems perfectly satisfactory.

Unbelievable after sales service from the manufacturer!

    The App works too.

Easy to install and link to other detectors, loud when tested and sets off all of the linked detectors sequentially.

Battery life is claimed to be 10 years, which I can’t confirm for another 10 years, but have no reason to doubt it.

The instruction manuals for each component of the system have inconsistencies which cause confusion when setting up a working system. The method of unlearning a device takes a frustrating amount of time when you have to leave it for several minutes before it becomes effective, leading to wasted time if the system was not ready!

So, the product support got in touch again and did some more tests. I think the problem was with the app rather than the device, and it is now resolved. The story below is true, but I have improved my rating because product support was excellent and ultimately proactive in dealing with my issue.

I installed this and other alarms and a device to link them to my phone. The app reported a problem at first, but it all tests correctly now and the sounder works properly. I enquired about this to the Fireangel website, and they said that despite it testing correctly and the green light indicating it is working properly, they would consider it a faulty item and they will send a replacement. I am puzzled by this and worried that an item of this nature will report itself as working it is in fact faulty, and that they fob me off with a much cheaper replacement.

This type of domestic smoke detector takes care of all aspects of protecting people from fires in their homes, including commercial lets. What it does not have is a method of easily-identifying the detector that has ‘set-off the alarm.’ A hand-held device that interrupted the radio signal would silence those detectors that had not activated the alarms; and, would enable false-alarm attention to focus on the source of the alarm activation. Yes, the instructions do explain how to do this, by observation; but, patience and clear-thinking are required to do this.

Golden Review Award: 22 From Our UsersOrdered a few of these to meet the new Scotland homes requirements for Feb 2021. Fast delivery but soon realised that despite the images in the listing saying it is Alexa compatible (and the box side panel information), it is not compatible, unless you purchase the additional Gateway. The items all seemed to link as per the instructions, but the smoke alarms do not have any flashing LED’s to show that they are linked and working (which is mentioned in the instructions), you have to assume they are all connected OK, or go through the link and unlink process until you work this out for yourself with plenty of beeps ringing in your ears. The smoke and CO2 alarms have flashing LEDs when configured. Tech support offered the advice (within 24 hours) to return the items if not happy about the non-flashing LEDs but a revision to the installation guide might reduce customer frustration.

Testing all alarms (after a few mins) that are linked sets them all off, which is great, and the red LEDs flash at the same time. Each of our alarms are about 15 feet from each other., no false alarms.

If you want Alexa or internet connectivity with their Fireangel App, you need to buy one Gateway as well for each installation, and configure it. You get a 5 year warrantee, and a 10 year battery life so a good few years peace of mind before you need to replace them.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersMy product was delivered on time, however, it had a fault once installed. The Red LED that supposed to be blinking every 45 s was not even blinking at all. Contacted Fire Angel tech support via email and they promptly confirmed it was faulty. And to return for a replacement. The product was outside Amazon’s return window, thus contacted via customer help chat. Connected promptly and Amazon immediately ordered the replacement to arrive the next day. Excellent and prompt customer service. Thank you.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersThis is a compact unit, the app is well thought out too.

    The positives
The app is well though out, the ability to label the location of each alarm is brilliant.
The ability to test the alarms from the app is also great.
App notifications of any issues including network loss.
New devices bought since being setup just show up in the app.
Support are very helpful and patient.

    The negatives
The paper instructions are not very good or well written on how to integrate into an existing mesh network.
No videos on how to add this to an existing mesh network either.

    The takeaway
I highly recommend this add on fireAngel connect pro, do you need it?
no, but you should get it i have been waiting for almost 2 years to pick it up since it was announced, its a great to have and not just from a piece of mind aspect either.
It is useful too , the app can tell you which of the mesh networked alarms is going off (which room or location has the fire, so useful in knowing areas to avoid for an escape route.

Golden Review Award: 58 From Our UsersSo, after having a small extension built, I had to have interconnected alarms for the new building standards coming out in 2021 (Scotland). Having had previous Fire Angel products, and they have been ok, I stuck to the brand, and went for 10 units throughout the house….

The item which plugs into your router is easily set up, then you download the app, register and then you connect one alarm to the router wirelessly, this shows on the app, name it to where you intend to put it in the house, then add each one in turn, to the next, they add to the app, name each one…and bravo!

I took all of mine out of the boxes, and set them up on my desk as it was easier (there is only 5 seconds between pressing connect on one and then test on the other) …then put them in location..

So, for installation, I have to say, dead easy…time will tell how they perform in the longer term

I’m a little confused as to why people have found these so difficult to fit the instructions are clear but would be 5* if the labels on the underside of the units called out better where the sync button is once you know which one to press its a 10 second job to pair the devices.

Great unit and great piece of mind.

Fantastic idea! A mesh fire alarm system that when one sounds they all sound. I’ve started with the carbon dioxide alarms and will add more monthly. Simple to install and connect to others. Loud and easy to test.

Works exactly as expected, allows very easy monitoring, diagnostics and testing of all your domestic devices. Mine did take an hour or two to fully sync on installation so be patient with setup.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersBought the gateway to go with 5 alarms I got online. I’m renovating my house so I’ll be fitting the below
2 x smoke alarms (hallway and landing)
2 x heat alarms (kitchen and garage)
1 x carbon monoxide alarm (for our fireplace)
I love the idea of the app and getting notifications when I’m out, especially as the dog is left at home in the day. My electrician told me to fit a heat alarm in the garage as I’ll have my washing machine and dryer in there and if there’s a fire then the alarms in my home will go off too.
Installation looks pretty easy from the videos I’ve seen but my electrician will be fitting the mains powered alarms. I’ll add some photos when they’re in.
