    Works as advertised
Have had no problems but does take a little time to connect and initialise when inserted. Have found all the features straightforward to use for thermal imaging and the hardware is very responsive when traversing a large area with no discernible jitter. The battery life seems more than good enough going by the level meter in the app. Have used it around two houses so far and still had 50% left. The lightning connection is very solid and not fragile as i had feared before using it. Connects through the gap in an OtterBox protector using its extension mechanism. Good little carry case works with lightning extended after a little adjustment.

    Great buy.
We bought this for a more in depth view of a drafty house and it was able to accurately pinpoint areas where cold was coming in for us to reseal or cover. The thermal images are easy to view and the app easy to install on our phone and tablet. Happy with it.

Helped me find those cold spots in the home, and dropped my daily gas bill down from 14 a day to 4 a day…. so its already saved me more than I paid for the device… happy days

Battery life could be a little longer… but for the size of it you can’t really complain.

If you want to view into the world of infrared, this is the tool to use with your iphone. It requires IOS 14 or greater. The app, with iphone, shows, in excellent detail, images of heat traces and distinguishes hot/cold surfaces very well (white through to the blue spectrum). Tracing central heating pipework is useful. Looking for hot/cold spots is vital if there are issues with draughts, cold spot and air blocks in pipework.

Looking at printed wiring boards for high temperatures in components is another use.

You can record video/still images to the iphone for viewing later. All images are captured by the FLIR camera -NOT the iphone. The rechargeable battery will last around 60mins. High Recommended.

Love this. It’s perfect to identify heat sources and locations. Also good to use if you ever have a water leak where you can detect where the hot water has gone in your ceiling and walls.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersFLIR Edge Pro is amazing!
I was worried as a number of the reviews are a bit negative – and it looks like they refer to different (less powerful) models. I’ve just received my FLIR Edge Pro, setup was super simple and the photos it takes are amazing!

Can easily see some insulation issues that were picked up by a contract with a significantly more expensive camera. Examples attached. It seems to do a nice mix of visual plus infrared (though you can select one or the other).

Camera setup is really easy, no instructions needed. Download app, turn on camera, allow app to connect to camera, and take pictures! I’ve not yet had to read the manual and everything is really intuitive.

By default you can select 1,2 or 3 spots as well as highest or lowest spot to show the temperature of. It also has 1GB free cloud integration (FLIR Ignite) and you can re-edit / move the spots on there.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersSuperb tool for finding insulation problems in your house.
It’s expensive I know, but trust me, it will find so many insulation issues in your house to fix that it’ll pay itself back. And the second hand values are quite high, so once you’ve finished you can sell it on.

Battery life is poor and image quality is low, but you’ll get the idea quickly enough.

Since I bought it I’ve completely insulated my bathroom, added insulation to various walls in my house, added underfloor insulation where I can, and so on. It’s a really good tool – the house is more comfortable now.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersLove the fact that I don't have to take my phone out of my case to use the Flir. If I didn't have a thick phone case I would have bought a cheaper thermal camera. The digital overlay is waisted for what I use it for but I guess someone might find it handy. I like it because I can see different layers of fluids inside tanks.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI use this product to identify moisture and mold within buildings for my job. You can identify lower-temperature areas on walls, floors, and ceilings using this device, and further investigate wetness/moisture levels using your hand or direct moisture meters. We also utilize the infrared photos in the reports we generate for mold/moisture investigations. This product is extremely useful and to be honest... its fun to just play around with sometimes. This is a high-quality product with a great price. It worked exactly how it was expected to work.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersJust about usable
Resolution is probably OK, but not stellar. The single sample point is more restrictive than you’d imagine, the text is white and when you’re focusing on a hot object it’s really hard to read because the image is nearly white. The lack of a hottest and coldest point on the image is also a huge limit on functionality. Don’t get suckered in by the brand name, this is barely good enough.

One for apple and one for android, so pay attention when ordering. The picture quality is great, you can see for many feet the accurate heat difference of objects. The picture I posted is of an engine miss-firing on cylinder one, which is the far left coil. You will notice is is slightly difference in heat signature because it is not firing allowing it to be cooler than the others. So many uses it is worth just having for fun.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersExtremely good tool for the money!
I love how it superimposes the thermal data and colors over a normal light image. This makes it extremely easy to see exactly where my temperature colors are coming from. You can also change the color schemes to match your specific needs to highlight certain aspects of the temperature information.

This tool is great for seeing where your cold or hot air is escaping, where water leaks are, warm blooded animals hiding in your backyard, all kinds of stuff! Sometimes a little bit of understanding of how to interpret, or help get, thermal data is helpful, but this is pretty simple to use. I highly recommend this thermal camera!

Honestly I wasn’t going to buy one.. buti had a few uses for a reasonably good one and I have built one using a pi and mxl sensor. The quality is better. Not too sure I like the software and the watermark on every picture but easily removed. Easy to use but even with its adjustment, it doesn’t fit with rugged cases! It’s OK with normal/samsung cases. Overall? I got it with a prime deal. If it wasn’t discounted I probably would not have bought i

Funny Story, I looked at the yard at night and saw a small hot spot in the yard and figured it was a mouse or small rat or something, so I was going to scare it away before the dogs got to it. I went out into the yard and before I could stop the dogs, they were with me. As I got closer to the hot spot, the dogs went ahead and got near the hot spot like they knew it was there but didn’t go after whatever it was. When I finally got there, I saw it was a fressh dog poop (no pic attached :).

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersSomewhat disappointed the adjustable lighting connector didn't extend far enough to be used with the OB Defender case and iPhone 13 Pro Max. This is a professional level tool and I know every use case can't be tested but think the Defender case is common among professional users, I've had this series for my iPhones since they were introduced years ago. This adapter: "KOKKIA Slim_Lightning_Extender_Black : Tiny, Slim Male to Female Lightning Extender, Compatible with iPhone, iPad, iPod with 8-pin Lightning Connector. Compatible with KOKKIA i10L, 10L_Pro Splitter" from Amazon does work fine with the camera. Think Flir needs to update the extension or just add this adapter in the kit. Otherwise camera functions quite well.

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our Usershardware great, software is a let dow
The camera is great, but the software puts a watermark on the image, and the ability to move the cross-hairs has disappeared in a software update. The software also overrides the orientation lock and rotates the screen anyway, except it doesn’t rotate the menus, so some thing are the right way up, and some are not.

A FLIR device at a reasonable price.
I bought this in November 2020 to improve my understanding of building heat loss. It has proved useful because I now have a small portable device that I can use to record building fabric and plumbing heat loss.
While it is not a fully professional device it serves to provide knowledge which would other wise cost far more to obtain.
I can record pictures to my phone to show when I explain issues to others. Before this device I was presuming how heat loss was occurring. Now I can see the evidence.

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersGives you x-ray vision on your house
This thing blows my mind. At first, I had sticker shock and told myself, “Well, just try it out.” I bought it to figure out if I had frozen pipes in my house during the winter and told myself I’d return it after. That was four months ago – I still have it because I fell in love.

Good news is that the Flir showed me that my pipes were perfectly fine (and warm!) but that my dishwasher’s filter that was clogged. This is a new house and I wouldn’t have known to check. That right there saved me a plumber’s inspection and bill!

It’s so fun to use that I kept looking at other stuff around the house. I found a whole bunch of spots in the walls where cold air was coming through around light switches and wall outlets. Also discovered problems in my attic. I’m also able to check for water leaks by running hot water and see where that water really goes on the camera! Figured out the door to the garage was in desperate need of weatherstripping – the house stays much warmer now and that right there dropped my heating bill by $50 a month.

This camera has already paid for itself and I haven’t even used it for a really tough job – verify an insulation installer did their job! I’ll be hiring one soon and I’m actually looking forward to it instead of dreading it.

I’ve had this Flir since December and so far the battery is a champ and I love how easy it is to recharge. The controls are pretty easy to figure out (fun to play with!) and I like how the temperature readings display precision to 0.1 degrees. 11/10 would buy again.

Doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of the pro model and isn’t as clear of a picture, but you pay for what you get. It’s perfect for my needs and arrived exactly on time. Even came with its own hard case. I’m pretty impressed with it, all in all, and would definitely recommend this model for basic functionality.

Biggest pro: works great, totally satisfied from a functionality point of view.

Biggest con: Battery life leaves a lot to be desired, but at least doesn’t drain the phone.

Despite this.. the concern I still have, which didn’t occur to me til it arrived, is it needs FLIR’s Android app to work. Without that, it’s a 300 paperweight. I wish I’d bought something with some standalone firmware, that I can count on to work even if the App is canned.

Golden Review Award: 17 From Our UsersGood for home use
Got this FLIR camera to help with home projects. Have air leaks and wanted to find them to do some home projects. The FLIR ONE Gen 3 – Android (USB-C) is not commercial grade but works well. I was able to identify hot and cold pipes through drywall. It also was able to see where drywall was much colder than the rest of the room to identify air leaks behind the wall. Works on windows and fireplace as well. FLIR ONE is a good name brand and the product quality is good. It plugs into the USB-C port of your cell phone or tablet and you download the software from your device’s app store. It also charges with USB-C port and charge lasts months during non-use and multiple hours of use.

It is worth noting the focal distance is not very far. It is for indoor use or close proximity use. Perhaps 15 feet distance to check drywall/windows/doors to determine if cool/hot spots exist and less than 5 feet for detailed pictures to find pipes behind walls or specific air leaks. It is not for night driving, hunting, sporting, etc.

It is both a tool and play thing (if you are a bit of a tech geek) that will get used more than you may originally think.

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersLove this BUT
EDIT: The replacement is even worse, off centre and wonky. Returning for refund. Gutted 🙁
2nd Edit: Flir technical support came back to me again and fixed the issue, not sure why the first chap couldn’t do the same.

Absolutely love what this can do, works mostly well on my Pixel 4a, I can see the hot water pipes in my walls and under my floorboards! Will try with wildlife at some point.
BUT the FLIR One has 2 cameras, one thermal and one digital, allowing it to show a real time outline of what you are looking at. Unfortunately these are not aligned well, they are about a foot out at a distance of 3 metres. I rang Teledyne, they are very helpful but agreed that this needs returning as faulty. The apps are a little flakey too, probably work better if you buy the PRO version.
BUT because I love this so much I have ordered a replacement, fingers crossed it will be better aligned. will update my feedback at a later date when the replacement arrives.

This works right out of the box, with super-easy set up. The pictures are fascinating and allows me to tend to prioritize and attend to specific deficiencies. This sort of thing should be available to borrow or rent because Once I fix the drafts I might not need it again. If I had friends I would certainly loan it out.

I got this for one job. It helped ease my mind on the motor heating concern. Since then, I've used it on several jobs and it has been an awesome tool. I travel to different companies to do maintenance on our company's equipment. Nearly every maintenance manager that sees the results, have bought one for themselves - or their team. Think about 15 or so have been purchased by people I've shared this with, because the uses are endless for troubleshooting.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersCheapest way to get into digital thermophotography
We bought this to evaluate heat loss in our house during Canadian winters. There are quite a few rather more expensive options but not much in this price range. The version we bought was the Lightning connector variant for iPhones. Charging is via USB-C and takes about an hour from empty to full, which curiously enough is about the same amount of time it drains when you’re using it. The higher end model has a better set of cameras than this one, but the results from this lower end model were perfectly good for our needs. It allowed us to locate heat loss areas pretty quickly and confirm whether or not any action was needed (or possible). It’s also nifty to see where hot or cold water pipes run through the house as well as to check to see if any power lines/outlets/fuse boxes are overloaded (if you can see the latter as being warmer than the surrounding area, they are) One think to keep in mind is that the display on the iphone will calibrate based on all the temperatures in range, so in one photo the blue/yellow/red differential may be dramatically wider than in others (3-4 degree range compared to say 18) which means paying attention to the actual temperature points is essential.

Good product and I’m happy we have it.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our Usersnice product - shame about the packaging!
Works fine – does what I want, but appallingly over packaged. It comes with a nice carry case, but why does it need multiple layers of cardboard, plastic, then more cardboard with built in magnetic fastenings etc?

it’s a little grany but considering the price it does as expected, it can definitely be used to determine if there is cold air coming in from outside, negatives are you’re phone can’t be in a thick case cause the tab won’t be able to reach the charger port it goes into, in all I’d say it’s worth i

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersAll 4 stars as too early to tell, but first impressions are good
Either the camera is faulty or I’m well and truly heating the neighborhood and the company that did my cavity insulation 10 years ago did nowt and conned me. ( council contractor).
If the pictures are true, I’m at a total loss of where to start. Need some pro help I think.
Camera was easy to set up and use. Did not have to take case off. When I took pictures indoors could clearly see cold spots. Definitely starting with roof and working my way down. Not used the tools yet and want to see pics on PC but good camera.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersDoesn't work with all Ulefones
Although I had the right android build and right usb connection the FLIR app would not recognise my phone. Ulefone do a rugged version of my phone with a FLIR 1 camera built in,which helps confuse things. It works well on my son’s phone, a Samsung. Battery life is good. FLIR do ask you to try different things but in the end, I’m going for a refund.

This is a great tool for my RV inspection business. The only criticism I have is that the connection between the camera and the iPhone is a bit flimsy and you have to be careful to make sure it stays fully inserted. Otherwise a good buy

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersThis is useful and informative
I have attached a new video.
As a handy person and electronics enthusiast I’m still very happy to have this camera. I can see things I could not otherwise see and that expands my abilities for maintenance, repairs, and other efforts. Plus the curiosity of seeing that a cold-blooded frog doesn’t show up and other natural science observations are great.
    I have used this for:
    1. Indoor ceiling to identify poor insulation locations
    2. Identify within seconds if an air conditioner is working
    3. See the temperature gradient in compost bin
    4. See that a frog is in fact cold-blooded
    5. Check the circuit breaker panel in the house
    6. Look at warm footprints on the carpet
    7. Identify wet spots, water evaporates in the 40s
    8. Identify lost energy in ceiling light fixtures, wiring, plug adapters, paper shredders on standpipe, audio and video equipment on standby, because if it’s turned off and it shows as warm, it is consuming electricity
    9. Inspect heating on electrical circuits for hobbies

    [Above added 8/20/2022]
I very much appreciate that the Flir ONE properly orients the app when the phone is held upside down. It is more comfortable to hold the phone upside down.

The occasional auto calibration is a bother, but mostly would be a sticking point for video recording, the camera is just as useful with this auto calibration.

It has estimated the temperature of my hand at 102F or higher without a fever and it has estimated the temperature of frozen food (boxed food) at -2F(seems right) in my freezer side-by-side. I don’t know if I can tune that to be more accurate.

I can see where evaporative cooling is happening, immediately the warm footprints from my dog on the carpet, warm breakers or unused doorbell transformer (wasted electricity), and much more.

This review was written with less than 3 hours of use. Setup was simple.

Still not sensitive enough for what I need but very very good. I need to see the blown in or foamed in insulation in cinder blocks. I will keep testing to see if it works better through-out the change in seasons.
