Several reviewers have remarked that grass cuttings are left on the lawn. Of course they are if you do not empty the collector box when it is full. This may be rapid but it is a powerful machine and the box fills quickly. No there does not seem to be any compacting taking place. A little fiddly to assemble but not a real problem.
Other reviewers have remarked on the thinner plastic being used. Unfortunately this is the way manufacturers are going and I doubt it will last as long as my previous one but height adjustment is easy and the cut is good. So overall it is worth the price.
Arrived in good time, easy to assemble and use, well satisfied.
This mower makes a pleasant change from previous petrol mowers I’ve owned, and does just as good a job with less heaving around and less hydrocarbons. Two points to note (which downgraded the rating to 4 stars): 1. Instructions are obscure re. folding the handles for ‘ease of storage’ — basically using the same knobs required for assembly and in my first attempt to figure it out resulted in the handles coming off completely, and 2. the grass box chute is slightly raised so a lot of grass (as can be seen in the photo) escapes out under the box itself. There are also lots of odd corners where grass clippings collect so worth cleaning out after use. But overall, I really like this product — I used it on a pre-strimmed wild flower meadow at the end of the summer. The mower dealt with long grass (6 inches where regularly cut and 4-5 where the meadow had flourished and grass was thicker) without issue. It’s also nice and quiet. The wheels also relieve stress and make the job quicker than other FlyMo products.
Having had a Flymo 350 for a decade,I was apprehensive about this model. I had read the reviews mentioning the stickiness of assembly, but the whole construction just needs a bit of patience! My first mow was excellent,a proper mow with lines.Makes the 350 more of a cutter than a mower. Best grass cut in years using a lightweight, not flimsy, machine.
Ordered at 5 pm one day received at 11 am next day so delivery was great.
Never put anything together before but I would say this is simple when you know how. It took me a while to figure certain things but eventually it all came together and you don’t need any tools. Tried it out this morning and thank goodness everything worked. So light to push and cuts grass so much better than my 25 year old Qualcast which died last week. I am not using the grass box as I like to leave the cuttings in situ so although I have assembled the box I have not attached it. It’s also a case of not enough space left in my tiny shed. I just wish they had put numbers on the grass cutting height so I knew which end was the lowest and the highest. Very pleased with this lawnmower and recommend it.
This was a replacement and purchased following the good reviews and I have to say I have not been disappointed. Its very good for the price and does everything you would expect from a lawn mower.
My only gripes are the cord is a little short but easily fixed with an extension, I paid extra for the one with the clear plastic window which holds the box to the mower as it seemed like a good idea to be able to see how full the box was, wrong!! as soon as you start cutting the grass the pieces cover and stick to the window so its impossible to see what’s in the box without taking it off. Good mower but not worth the extra for the window.
Was easy to put together and use. Huge improvement on my old flymo. Light and easy to use. I’m female in my fifties and can highly recommend for anyone lacking confidence in cutting the lawn. Cuts really well, nice and easy to adjust. V happy.
Bought as a house warming present for son & daughter-in-law. They are delighted with it but I haven’t used it so I cannot comment myself. It arrived very promptly & I soon had a photo of him using it so it must have been straightforward to assemble.
Ideal for my medium sized garden. It does not cut as short as my previous mower which is probably a good thing. Height adjustment is very simple and the grass collection box is a good size. The handle need to be gripped quite tightly to keep the mower running, but I imagine it is something I’ll get use to.
Good lawn mover, easy to assemble (under 10 mins), lightweight, sturdy and easy to maneuver. Cuts well and easy to clean and store. Ratings at * and ** guess are exceptions however on my purchase, delivery, assembly and first use experience will give it *****. I will update the review in due course based on the performance. For now, looks like it’s gonna be around doing its job for many years to come.
I bought the Flymo Speedi-Mo lawn mower because my Flymo hover mower that I have had for at least 10 years, finally gave up the ghost and died. So after reading many reviews about this mower, I decided to bite the bullet and bought it. And even better still it came as a bundle, so when I purchased the mower I also had the Flymo Strimmer too. Brilliant price, arrived sooner than expected and very well packaged. It had to be assembled and it took me about half an hour to assemble it. And quite straightforward. With 5 cutting levels I used the middle level to cut my lawn. Absolutely fabulous. Fantastic cut and very nippy too. Fone my two lage lawns within an hour, where it normally takes me about an hour and a half to two hours to do that. I didn’t need to use the Strimmer for the edges as the mower managed to cut right up close to the fence and edges of the garden, and it looks like I used the strimmer. Excellent mower. I just hope it will last as long as my previous one. Highly recommend.
Took a while to put together. The instructions are really not great but got there eventually. There are helpful videos on YouTube if you’re struggling!
Flymo was easy to assemble and cuts grass easily to the required level, it easily tackels long grass and cuts right up to the edges
I love it super easy to assemble took me under 10 minutes
Cut my grass lovey super happy
Was a little bit of a confusion with delivery however it got delivered to my address
After my previous mower died I felt the need to purchase something more manoeuvrable to replace it. This machine is smaller and lighter but because of it’s size I expected mowing the lawns to take longer because of the need to spend more time emptying the grass box. I was wrong. The grass box has a larger capacity than the one on my previous mower. I am a very satisfied customer. Thank you.
Very pleased thus far. Larger than my old faithful Flymo. Good size grass box and more stable than my last lawnmower. Also it’s easier to alter the height of cut having a lever on the side rather than spending to alter bar on wheel tracks.
I have always used flymo and during the lockdown I bought Bosch and within a couple of weeks the blade on the Bosch was damaged. The flymo always lasts me for years so I will stick with flymo in future. It never lets me dow
After long years of tugging and pulling my guts out with a petrol mower. Bought this mower for its lightness and powerful motor. It made short work of my lawn very surprised. Even impressed has 2 years guarantee. Just need to see how long it lasts.the body to the mower and box feel cheap. But has a good 1500 watt motor and good steel blade. Easy to pick up and store for me personally this is great due to lots of muscle injuries.
Happy with this mower. I previously had a flymo compact 360 which had seem better days.
It cuts pretty short and pretty close to the edge. The collection capacity is good considering the size of the mower (which fits nicely into my storage box). It deals well with my slightly uneven garden and up the slope. Like most mowers it is happier when the grass is dry, but can deal with slightly damp grass.
Overall, I am very happy with my purchase.
Easy to put together and carry/store. 1 month in, so far so good
Fabulous mower!! Always buy Flymo and this mower is the reason! So easy to assemble! The adjustable cutting height is excellent, couldn’t believe how amazing the lawn looked after use. Can’t rate it highly enough. Bought my son one the next day.
Our original order sat in its box for a few months, as the growing season had not arrived. When first used, it wouldn’t start. Not a flicker of interest. There was no power getting to the motor for some reason. After a couple of telephone calls, and despite the mower having been in our possession for about 3 months, the mower was returned and a replacement sent out the same day. New mower works perfectly. Great service from Amazon.
Superb product. My grass was very long about 20cm in height or more and I thought to get a strimmer to reduce the height but i was able to use the mower only to cut the grass to an even height. The litter box gets easily filled up though. But generally the 1500W power is sufficient for small gardens.
Good quality, robust mower at a reasonable price
Grass box a little awkward to remove for emptying
I love my Flymo Rotary. Only used it for a few weeks but meets all my expectations. Powerful motor and plenty of cutting heights. My last Flymo Rotrary gave me seven years continuous service and I just hope this one will not disappoint either. Very happy with my purchase.
I don’t generally leave early reviews but having lived in our property for 12-13 years, it has to be said our lawn has never looked so good. This is only after one cut so although the operation of the mower is awesome, I cannot swear for the reliability. But here’s hoping it lasts for a few years at least with the minimum of maintenance.
My previous mower was a basic hover mower which I have used for at least 40 years!
I decided that it might be easier for me if the mower had wheels and so I bought this one.
It arrived from Amazon very quickly on Prime. It was well packaged. It took about 20 minutes for me to assemble it with the brief instruction leaflet being very sparce with its detail. I then made the first cut of the year on my two lawns. It was easy to handle and the mower had no problems with the longer than usual grass. The cable could be longer. I had to plug it into an extension cable. The literature suggests that the mower can be folded down but I have not yet discovered how that can happen. I am very pleased with this mower.
Bought this as backup to our petrol lawnmower to deal with front and smaller sections of lawn, and found this machine to be more than adequate. Lightweight, easy to assemble, easy to use, empty and manoeuvre. Most importantly has a good range of cut lengths, with a simple/quick means to change up or down.
Only improvement would be a longer power lead, but overall, very happy with the quality and performance of this machine.
This machine unlike the last Flymo mower I had, does not have a roller between the rear wheel which causes a few problems with regards to manouverability and efficiency when cutting the edges of the law
Excellent value. Purchased to replace an elderly flymo this is much lighter, cuts beautifully, and is much more manoeuvrable. I purchased the model without grass box window, which would have increased the price by almost 25%.
Assembly was simple other than one side bolt would not go through the handle tubing, as it was a very tight fit. I used a hammer to give it a sharp tap and it seated properly.
The only other minor criticism is that there doesn’t appear to be an obvious storage option for the cable. I have ended up wrapping it round the handle.
Fixed together very quickly and easily. Very lightweight so easy to manoeuvre. Emptying the grass collector was a bit awkward as the grass is so compacted it didn’t come out by itself and needed to be pulled with your hand. Cable length is good.
This is a very good mower. A number of things impress me about it:-
– Weight. It’s so light. Compared to my old heavy petrol mower this is much more manoeuvrable. You can turn it with one hand and pick it up easily to store.
– Power. The 1500W motor copes with quite long grass nicely.
– Grass pick up. The grass box is so well designed, it doesn’t drop any clippings. So you don’t need to go back after a single cut to hoover up any left over bits.
Very easy to assemble. Handle folds down so it’s nice and compact to store.
Just the job for my medium sized garden. I thought the cable would be a bit of a pain, but it’s not really once you get the right technique and keep it out of the way. Obviously not as mobile as a battery mower, but considering the cost of battery powered machines, the cable is a small price to pay. Particularly when the price difference is so great.
I didn’t get the ‘clear view’ grass box version, as I thought an extra 20 for a bit of see through plastic wasn’t worth it. And you don’t actually need that, as you can just flip up the cover to see how full the box is.
So I can thoroughly recommend this mower. Flymo are a tried and tested brand, and this machine doesn’t disappoint. For under 100 this machine is well worth the money!
**UPDATED 23/05/21** Please see bottom of text.
After using a very cheap and old qualcast ‘hover mower’ on our lawn last year I decided it needed replacing as it was awful!
This was shortlisted against the easi store Flymo but decided this was the best option due to alot of the reviews for other Flymo suggesting it had a massive issue with it changing deck height by itself.
After reading the reviews for this I took a gamble and ordered one. The reviews made me think it would be flimsy with a fiddly grassbox but I don’t agree!
The assembly was easy, the instructions aren’t amazing as it’s a few small diagrams but it’s quite intuitive and most of it is common sense! The grassbox just needs the clips lining up and a few calculated smacks to drive them home.
I’m 5’11 and used the higher of two options when assembling the hand bars. After using it on it’s trial run I can confirm it’s a really comfortable position for those who are a bit taller/more lanky but has the option of dropping the bars an inch or so if you are of the shorter variety.
For circa 110 my expectations were low but I’m really impressed! Yes it’s plastic, and it’s not massively heavy but it does a good job and the lead is long enough for most gardens, I had to add an extension lead to do ours as the grass spans approx 18metres.
It did the first cut this year since October last year and it was a breeze. My lawn is about 50% moss but despite this it cut it well, however I did notice that anything above the shortest setting didn’t seem to do anything so I went around on the shortest setting straight away, I will update the review in the summer once the grass thickens out and update you all on whether the higher height settings do anything.
I was really impressed by the flat edges of the deck to allow you to get close to borders etc, it made my life 10X easier as I didn’t have to fanny around with a strimmer!
The clear panel on the top also made a big difference when it came to seeing how full the grassbox is, I’m glad I went with this model.
The mower comes with one year warrantee but you can register it with Flymo online for an extra years warrantee with plenty of parts also available in the event you need a new blade or anything.
Overall for the price I’m really happy so fingers crossed it lasts 🙂
23/05/21***
Since my last update I’ve been able to use it to mow our lawn many times, overall my thoughts still remain the same for the most part, my only updated thoughts are:
– Despite the grass now growing quickly and a weekly trim being required, anything but the lowest setting doesn’t take enough off to warrant a mow!
– If your lawn has dips/drops or anything that isn’t a flat bowling green it doesn’t have a good time! Because of the wheels it means that it won’t get low enough trim dips in the grass and where there are slight raised areas it will scalp them!
– even though it has the edging feature built in meaning its flat edge can get close to things, I’m still needing to go round my decking and lawn edges with the strimmer, it’s just not as much work.
Overall I don’t think this really changes my thoughts on it as the lawn levels not being perfect isn’t the mowers fault. This mower is still very reasonably priced and is still a joy to use!
Hi i bought this flymo speedimo 360 but my garden is big very nice for small gardens
Ifiled to refund , they came to pick next day but i was unable to print the label so could not return
Now I have printed the label i dont know who and how to ask please take it back because I am unable to keep it i bought new powerful Please take it back please please
and ‘Old Faithful’ decides to call it a day, halfway through the back lawn and fails to be persuaded otherwise!
So, as the lawn looks rather silly half done, a new lawnmower was deemed an ‘essential purchase’ and the relevant shops are closed…so over to Amazon!
This new one was here the very next day, despite these current troubled times.

CABLE LENGTH: around 12 M
5 x CUTTING HEIGHTS: WIDTH 36 cm
40L GRASS COLLECTOR BOX
GUARANTEE: 1 year, extended by a year online, with the option to purchase a third year.

It arrived simply in the branded cardboard box, measuring around 70 cm x 46 cm x 37 cm, so no additional packaging to dismantle & recycle.
Following the instructions, I found it easy to assemble the main mower unit, as it simply needs the 2-piece handle attaching by the screws/wingnuts provided and the power cable attaching via cable clips.
The grass collector box, however, is in 4 pieces that need self-assembly and it is fiddly to put together, especially attaching the top cover, but once assembled it has proven sturdier than first impression.
It is proving very light in operation and easily manoeuvrable, taking little effort to push along. The 36 cm blade is slightly larger than my previous one and that has made a difference in the amount of time taken to complete.
In terms of the cut, I prefer level 2 of the 5 available, one shorter than the recommended level 3 middle cut. Anything above this leaves the grass too long, in my experience, although level 5 has proved useful for collecting and shredding the autumn leave drop.
It is easy to see when it is time to empty the collector box on this version with the vision window.
Conveniently, the handle can be folded for storage if required as per the current stock image above, by loosening the 2 sets of handle wing nuts.
So far, so good…will update if anything changes.
EDIT:
4 cuts now done due to the mild weather so far and very happy with this. The only thing is the wheel tracks that are noticeable for a day or so, especially if not dead straight!

What can i say, when buying a lawnmower there are a number of variables that need to be taken into consideration.. for me the main was storage and ease of use. Now i can say that both score highly for me. My wife is able to mow the lawn and put it back in the shed with ease. She says that she hasnt had back pain since we have had this mower. Husband of the year award is pending.
Having used this machine for 2 months I can confirm I am very pleased it with it. Really good cut and very light. One word of caution though. Do not overload the grass box or you will end up having to re-assemble it.
Assembly is reasonably straightforward though the grass box does take some carefull manipulation.
Excellent value for money
I did a lot of research before buying this (as I always do). I’d run over the cord a couple of times in my old Flymo and the blade was unbalanced, so it was making a lot of noise. I could’ve bought a new blade and a new lead, but by the time I’d done that, I would still have a lawnmower a few years old, so I decided to buy new. This item fitted the bill on the basis of cost, size, weight and good reviews – my main drivers for choosing a new mower. I wasn’t disappointed either – putting it together took minutes and the first mow of my relatively small and uneven lawns looked really good! I found it easier to push along my lawns than my old Flymo as that tended to lose it’s “hover” as soon as it went over a divot in the lawn and hence grounded itself. Removing the grass collector box is easy and it all stows away compactly for storage in the shed.
Overall, not at all disappointed in my choice.
Had my last lawnmower for nearly 20 years. When it came to choosing a new one I couldn’t decide which one to buy. Too much choice these days. Bought this one as it was a reasonable price with a decent size blade and am really pleased with it. I added a washer to lower the minimum cut by a fraction as I prefer a slightly shorter cut than the minimum height setting and my lawn looks like a bowling green.
Easy to put together, once everything checked and those orange wing nuts are tightened away you go. The different cutting levels are an advantage, the guy next door has just purchased himself a similar model Flymo.
I do have back problems but still find it comfortable with this mower. IF you are elderly or have some debilitating movement problems you might find this rather difficult to use, so for you, I would advise a Flymo Hover mower which is light weight.
The mower is very quiet although you might find the grass box fills quick so it’s good to make sure grass is cut every other week.
The orange wing nuts have a tendency to undo on the hover mower we have but this one they stay tight, If you’re going to leave the handle in a certain position I would advise putting a dab of thread lock on the threads of the bolt before attaching and tightening by hand these wing nuts.
Works effortlessly an all round excellent mower and from a brand that you can trust.
It makes grass cutting a pleasure.
The guy next door likes his lawn to have lines in it.
I also note that this mower cuts close to path edges.
Bargain!
Bought this to replace my old flymo.
The pros –
cuts the lawn really well. Quickly and evenly.
Fairly lightweight
Long cord
Not too noisy
Cuts right up to the edge in most areas
The cons-
Not too easy to manoeuvre on small spaces as quite long
The cord placement is wrong and gets stuck near the wheel when moving about so have to pull it aside frequently
The basket is huge which can be a good thing but when full is quite heavy, which is a problem because the basket comes in two parts which join in the middle and is very flimsy.
I am sure over time, this will be a problem as the join where the two parts of the basket join is very weak.
Best way to avoid the basket falling apart is to empty it when half full so it does not strain under the weight of a lot of grass.
If the quality of the basket was better this could be a perfect mower.
You know, it’s all to easy to give a glowing review on a brand new mower, the blades fresh and the motors new so of course its gonna perform far better than the old mower you’re replacing. All I can I honestly say is I get the feeling this mower might last a lot longer than our previous mower, a Bosch Rotak with foldy handle, the locking hingey thingies of which broke and made it useless.. This Flymo doesnt have a foldy handle, there’s no foldy handle hinge locking thingies. It’s gonna last longer, I’m sure of it.
It is a replacement for a similar product and does the job well. However the handle for the grass box was missing a ‘flange’ that clips into the box and therefore is only attached by one instead of two. I don’t really don’t want to have to return it, and just need a new handle, but there does seem to be an option to ask for a replacement part. Flymo, who it seems are owned by Husqvarna, haven’t been to helpful.
I will probably end up glueing the handle on.
As for performance, the metal blade cuts well, the grass box doesn’t need emptying to often, and it manoevres well.
Had an old very good Bosch wheeled lawn mower pack up after great service. Thought this looked OK and Amazon were doing an offer of monthly payments anyway. Bit fiddly to put together but are not all things of this type anyway. My honest opinion and will probably not be shared by others but never found the hover ones in the past much good but that is probably my own wrong use of them. Seems to cut very well and pick up the grass well. 2 minor faults in my opinion: You really must keep the two hand controls very tight on the back bar or it cuts out. The emptying of the grass unit I found a bit awkward as it has only a part of the plastic “lip” across the unit. Other makes I have used before the “lip went across whole of emptying box. A minor annoyance when trying to fit grass cuttings into a black bag on your own.
We bought this on recommendation of my partner’s father who has been a Flymo user for years now and based from reviews here on Amazon. Our last lawnmower was a Bosch but it only lasted us a little over two years. It stated with a very strong electrical burnt smell (or like burning rubber) and just stopped working halfway through the job in our medium size garden. So we purchased this and have so far been really happy with its performance. It was very easy to assemble and easier to manoeuvre than our previous one. We have only used it twice but quite impressed with it so far. I just hope it is going to serve us for a long time – or at least longer than our previous Bosch.
Nice little mower. I’ve always had hovers though so I still try and wheel this around like one of those, which doesn’t really work that well – need to get in to the ‘up and down in straight lines’ habit. Easy to adjust cut height and the collector is a pretty good size. There’s no indicator that I can see on the collector though, which would help, as you only know it’s full when you start getting cutting sprayed in your face. Decent length cable but you’ll probably still need an extension.
It’s quite small so the blade width isn’t massive. Depending on your garden, you might want to go with something with a bigger blade but I’m not sure there are that many options if you want electric. But, that does mean it’s pretty light and is not really a problem lugging around. Cuts well, and that’s the main thing.
Bought for my husband and he’s very very happy. Only had a few weeks so can’t comment on durability. That said my husband says the cut is better than his previous mower and best of all it’s light weight. Have a big lawn and need to use an extension cable but the cable is a good length for smaller lawns. Had petrol mowers in the past but this is far less cumbersome and less hassle – servicing, fuel, storage etc. Happy times
Best lawnmower I’ve ever used. Easy to use and doesn’t feel like you’ve done a huge work out. Take less effort then hoovering my whole house haha. Glides through long and short grass easily and keeps it all level. The top part where the handles are folds for storing. Really highly recommended thank you xx
one of the most important things for me assembly as i’m pretty much hopeless at it so this mower seemed to be a good option, and indeed it turned out to be. with the help of a clear how to assemble video on youtube made by flymo i managed to put the mower together easily. the only struggle i had was on the very last stage – fitting the grass box top. the video said i’d need patience and they were right! eventually i did manage to align the clips and slot the top on.
gave it a run the other day and it performed well. my garden is a bit bumpy but it was no problem so i’m really pleased so far.
Now in my second year of using this, so about several uses since purchased. An initial problem of the collection box spilling grass over the lawn seems to have been overcome by applying a bit more force to push it into place. There is still a point where grass builds up and can fall to the ground when the box is removed from the mower but it no longer spills grass whilst cutting. Perhaps alternative mowers are better than this in that regard but having not tried them all I can’t comment (hence the 4 stars). I needed a light-weight mower to lift up onto a raised grassed area and this is light enough for that. The cutting span on previous mowers I’ve owned has been bigger so bear that in mind if you have a very large lawn to cut. Otherwise, for smaller areas, I can recommend this particular model.
Having had several Flymo mowers before, my only criticism of this one is the box sides are not strong enough and the handle fixture on the top of the box is not secure enough when lifting the lid as it comes away in your hand. The box is not as sturdy as the integrated variety of Flymo but for the price it is OK
In March I dug out my several years old Flymo hover mower to give my garden its first cut of the year. Unfortunately the length of the grass was too much for my hover mower and after a couple of minutes it began to sound very unhappy and smoke started coming out of it!
So I ordered this to replace it and am delighted with its improved performance:
– On the second highest cutting height it easily coped with the first cut of the year and on subsequent cuts I’ve taken it down to the second lowest height without any problems.
– I’d always thought a hover mower would be more manoeuvrable and be able to cut closer to items such as bird baths or rotary airers but this wheeled mower is very easy to steer and turn and gets close enough to the aforementioned items for my satisfaction.
– Overall I am surprised that it is a lot less effort to use this wheeled mower than the old hover mower; and it takes me about 30% less time to mow the lawn than it used to.
Two minor quibbles are that if I had to buy it again I would spend the extra 10 for the one with the Vision grass collection window (I don’t think this was available to buy in March). And when shaking out the grass box, sometimes the handle detaches if I’m too vigorous.
I’ve now used it several times and overall I’m extremely pleased with it because it’s turned a tedious chore requiring physical exertion into a pleasant and quick task that I almost look forward to!
Great little mower. Nice and lightweight and easy to use. Mows nicely and a good low cut. Great for anyone who finds petrol mowers heavy, cumbersome and hard to start. I have a medium sized garden with awful grass but it works well for me. I’ve been using a flymo for years but, my partner decided a petrol mower would be better. I have arthritis in hands, wrists and shoulders so found the petrol mower heavy and difficult to manoeuvre and I wasn’t able to start it so he had to cut the grass which because of his work schedule didn’t happen often enough. Nor did the petrol mower cut low enough or nicely.
Would recommend this item.
I have used Flymo for the last 15 years but it was one without wheels. So I have decided to go for a Wheely one and ordered after a much thought and choose one with a transparent lid (109.99) as opposed to a non-transparent lid (99.99) as advertised. But I have got the one with non-transparent lid. I hope it is a mistake but it caused me a little grief and I expect they pay me the difference or send me a transparent lid.
Arrived as expected. Used same day. Good cut on the lawn. I like the easy way to change the cut length. The grass basket fits very well and does a good job. I feel its put together well and if you maintain and store safely it will be a lasting product. Now one thing to say and it’s only because I have never owned an electric lawn mower before. I. Took the blade off thinking it was a sort of safety top. Oops embarrassing to admit but I should have looked at the utube video before putting it together. OK I am a woman, but at least I cut the shared grass.
I cant give this five starts because Im bit surprised that is feels and looks so cheap! the basket to collect grass wont stay together – its in 2 parts – and is sooo flimsy. but, having said that it has cut the grass a treat. not sure how long it will last though as it doesnt seem to be very solid and ive seen something similar and to be honest sturdier in B&Q for a lot less!
Bought this to replace a Bosch that has done a fine job since 2008.
Just opened the box and got it going. The usual 30 mins or so grappling with the grass-box assembly and attaching the handle, but once it’s running it has a healthy sound and easy-to-adjust height levels. It cuts VERY low (if that’s what you want) so the box fills fast.
Good long electric lead. Looks nice.
Impressed!
Product is exactly as advertised and works well. Product aesthetics aren’t great but it is functional and that’s all that matters. A few reviews suggest the cut level lever will break in time, however, the lever seems sturdy enough as long as you are careful not to force it through the positions.
Replaced an old Bosch with this and it’s every bit as good if not better.
Easy to assemble, although i did watch a few online videos, grass box a touch tricky but not impossible, need to be patient.
Build quality is very good, handle decent enough, folds up pretty easily, cable length is very good.
Very light and easy to manoeuvre, also light to pick up.
Got it set up in the garden, which hadn’t been mowed for over six months so was a foot high in places, set it on the tallest setting, i.e. furthest from the ground, it flew through all lengths of grass without any bother, even though grass was slightly moist from the rain the day before.
Our garden isn’t very big, about the size of 2-3 standard garages if you like, but this Flymo breezed through it.
Very impressed.
Some people have said it’s noisy but it’s no noisier than any other mower I’ve used before.
Haven’t had a Flymo for years, last one I had was the original hover mower, and was gonna buy one of them till I read consistent bad reviews.
Read many reviews of this model and it got lots of good reviews and I can see why.
It’s excellent for a small garden, especially at the price.
thoroughly recommend i
Bought as a replacement for a 19 year old Flymo hover mower. It arrived in a nice sized box.
The instructions were nice & simple, so i had the mower assembled in about 5 minutes. The wheels make it easy to maneuver.
Only slight niggle, is the grass box mounting. To remove it, you have to tip it forward so if a bit full, you get a lot of grass falling out.
Other than that, this mower “did what it says on the tin”. Was also easy to clean up at the end.
For storage, the handle folds down nicely and if the grass box is removed the mower is very compact.
Would highly recommend it for small to medium lawns.
I have a small/medium size garden but it’s all lawn. I managed to cut it in less than half an hour and only needed to empty the box once.
It’s very lightweight and was so easy to push along. Only used it once but i can say at this moment in time that i would recommend it for sure. The only negative i have discovered is the 10m cable isn’t quite long enough but works fine on an extension. Also other reviewers have mentioned this model has no hooks to wrap the cable round during storage however mine has come with 2 plastic hooks so i guess the manufacturers have listened.
Bought this to replace a clapped out petrol mower, and I’m very impressed. Despite being light, it has a good solid feel to it and seems well built. It had no trouble at all with the first cut of the year in late March. The grass was almost a foot long in places, and quite wet, yet the mower could cut at a comfortable walking speed, and the motor never sounded the slightest bit strained. It never gets blocked like the old petrol mower. Very impressed and highly recommend it.
This lawn mower is good value for the price, I’m not a fan of cable mowers and I have a battery mower which I use throughout the grass growing period. However, come February this Flymo is ideal it cuts through the grass wet in most cases (where the battery mower would stall) without problems.
Delivery was good and assembly was easy. It’s early days but I’m sure it will serve me well.
The machine arrived very quickly, it was easily put together although I made one mistake of not putting the connector into the the collection basket before pushing the basket together. This was rectified by managing to prise the basket apart and do the last bit again. The machine works but have not cut the lawn yet as the weather has been too wet. The machine was easily lifted and put in the shed
My last lawn mower was a smaller flymo which stopped working so I purchased this product which cuts my medium sized lawn in less time than my old one. It takes up more room in my garage and is slightly less manoeuvrable than the old one. The new one has an easy to adjust height setting with six positions and it coped with my grass which was about 100mm high and wet. It was on the highest setting and this was after a 3 week holiday and a week without a working mower. I had to keep clearing the underside of the mower and the entrance to the grass box due to the wet grass clogging it. I always unplugged the mower before doing this. If the grass was drier and shorter this should not be a problem. I found later that my old mower had a break in the mains lead which I replaced and I will use this one in the summer months.
The new mower appears to be well made and the assembly instructions were easy to follow.
This lawnmower is ideal for a small lawn. The only gripe I have is that it is a little bit too light and when cutting the lawn, one has to make sure that the handle of the lawnmower is kept pressed downwards or the front of the LM tends to rise up and miss its better cut of the lawn. Otherwise a great Lawnmower..
I bought this model to replace my old flymo lawn mower and I’m very happy with the ease of changing the cutting height, the manoeuvrability and the fact that I have to empty the collection box far less than compared to the old model. The underside of the machine is easier to clean after mowing too. The only niggle I have is the emptying of the cuttings box as the grass is so tightly compacted it does not want to leave and I have to pull some of the grass out before gravity takes over. Perhaps I should try to empty it before it is full!
I was sad to see my old Qualcast mower go (had it 20 years) and spent a long time searching for a replacement. This mower looks good and is more powerful than my previous mower – but heavier too so not quite as manoeuvrable. It cuts well (the blade is larger) and the lawn looks good. Was a bit fiddly to assemble but got there in the end. I like the fact it is quieter than my previous mower and the grass box is bigger so needs fewer trips to empty. Overall very happy so far and feel it deserves 5 stars.
Got this to replace a Flymo without wheels. So much better. Easy to move and turn. Powerful so cuts well. Loads of grass storage so I can now do the whole lawn in one go. Cuts low too on the bottom setting, nice and short. Seems sturdy. Only the top half of the handle fold so the bottom half sticks out at the same angle always which might be a problem for limited storage space.
The lawnmower is powerful enough for my needs, and the hopper is large enough to cut a good 30m2 lawn before needing emptying. It handles long grass with ease, although I’d prefer if it had a longer cable.
It’s got a turning circle that makes the QE2 look nimble but it’s light enough you can just pick it up and set it back down. The start button is a bit poorly placed, but I figure this might be a safety feature. Assembly was slightly annoying, the instructions could have been clearer, but you only have to do it once.
Overall, great little lawnmower.
assembly – quick and easy, i really didnt like the feel of product.
in action- fantastic, fast and right up to edge cutting. easy height adjustment with lever. 5x9m garden cleared wihout breaking sweat!
dissappointment- an established brand still hasnt put in windable lead on this product!!… so you have to tie it around the bars and looks messy, and takes up 30 secs exrtra of my time.
folding it requires to unscrew/loosen the thumb bolts .. too much effort so have stored with bars extended.
Amazing produce overall.!
Bought this mower at the time because amazon had sold out of every other mower I wanted, but it ticked all the boxes pretty much. I paid 90 or there abouts. It arrived but only after a delay in the delivery time for whatever reason. I have used it a few times though since purchased and its great i have a LARGE garden and its quite uneven in parts this mower has no issues tackling it and just today I used it again with no issues. Its light weight, easy to use and cuts great.
When i first got it the mower took about 5 minutes to put together which consists of putting the grass box together, and attaching the handle. Done ready to use. It feels well made and sturdy, I have a misses who goes through mowers quicker than a hot knife through butter she abuses them and has killed the previous ones, but she has used this one no issues so far 🙂 I can see this lasting me a few years easily. Well worth the purchase price and I would recommend it easy to build and easy to use, also easy to get spare parts for if needed 😉 Highly recommend it.
It took seven minutes to get the mower out of the box and assembled, it was so straightforward that I didn’t even glance at the instructions. It took on fairly thick, damp grass without complaint due to the 1500w motor. I have lawn at the front, side and back of my house, and cutting all that with my petrol mower was quite a tiering, not with this though. I found that I could manoeuvre around ornaments and planters with ease and at one point was using it one handed as it is so light. There were fewer trips to the compost bin as the grass box is quite large.
I can’t say much about the mower’s reliability as I’ve only had it a short while, but it has taken the dread and hard work out of mowing the lawn.
Cuts great, height adjustment feature is easy and effective to use, very easy to assemble. The concept of the larger than usual collection box is a bit of a fallacy for a couple of reasons. One, it get so heavy you just end up needing to empty it sooner, and secondly when it is full and you remove it, the plastic clip on handle just comes off and the box drops to the ground. It does a great job though
Sturdy, easy to manage, the height of cut is operated by a side lever which is easy to click into place and gives several options, 2 handle heights. I opted for the higher handle height due to back pain when gardening and there was no back pain at all. It looks too high but isn’t. This model doesn’t tip with the handles down when not in use either. The lid of the grass box is nice and strong but the grass box on past and present mowers in the this group always torment me trying to line the top to the bottom to click in place because of trying to line up/hold at the same time and the fact that the basket itself..which comes in 2 halves and has to be joined together by sliding into place, is quite bendy. I found the best way was to clip one side together and hug it to me horizontally and that holds the base still while I connect all the others and then a bit of a thump to secure all connections. I had hoped the design of the grass box had been improved somehow, so my heart sank a little when I unpacked it and saw that it hadn’t. They really need to look at that and improve on it. The cut is good, I used the 2nd highest setting but for this time of year the cut is too low and needs to go down another click. I’d be happy to buy this mower agai
I had to replace my ‘hover mover’ (with the metal blade) after years of great service due to electrical issues. With limited storage, still wanted something quite small. The grass box is not integral so adds size but can be separated for storage. The handle does not fold so easily for storage – actually it is a bit of a faff. BUT the quality of cut is much, much better than the hover mover at a similar price. The easy height adjustment also makes it easier to keep a good looking lawn – i.e. higher cut in dry weather, lower cut before/after rain. Very happy with the purchase!.
Does not go low enough for very short cut, therefore spits out a lot of gravel stones when picking up trimmed hedges from the driveway, stones start flying out and hitting your face -had to wear goggles for the first time using a mower.
Good for nooks and crannies that the petrol mower can’t reach, very flexible due to its size, not really easily foldable so not that much space saving either, I would next time go back to the greencoloured brand with the name beginning with B and get a 37cm blade and ove
Had a hover for years, but was getting fed up this taking lumps out of the grass, so this seemed like the ideal solution. Build quality is ok, not great, but what can you expect for the money. Assembly was easy except the mounting hole in the handle on the right side did not match up to the mounting stud, so I had to take a file to the hole to attach the handle. The lawn mower cuts the grass very well with 5 height adjustments. Time will tell how durable this mower is.
I bought this 2 months ago and have given it plenty of use. Putting it together was quite straightforward and it’s a nice mower to use. The collector holds a lot of grass and the mower is very well powered. A lot of the options within this price range only come with 1,200W motors which are fine, but the extra 300W on this one gives it that extra bit of oomph to tackle longer grass. Flymo used to be the go-to mower of choice so I was a bit apprehensive buying this when I noticed the reviews were starting to deteriorate. I’m pleased to say this is one of the good ones!
We chose this product specifically for ease of use, larger cutting diameter & larger grass box, as well as value for money & the “Flymo” brand. It arrived very quickly, but on unpacking, we found that the grass box needed a bit of forcing for it to clip together, and its handle was malformed, meaning that it wouldn’t clip into the top of the grass box. Both manufacturing defects.
Platinum Home & Garden responded very quickly, offering a replacement handle, or replacement mower. We chose the former. A replacement handle was ordered by the vendor directly from Flymo on the 1st April. We still haven’t received it 3 weeks later despite the vendor having chased it up for us.
I used it for the first time on Good Friday, and it cuts really well and is amazingly light and easy to use compared to my old petrol Hayter… and amazingly, the power cable is JUST the right length. I just need the replacement handle to make emptying the grass box easier!
Small, agile and very, powerful. My lawn has not been mowed since last autumn and the the grass was thick. This mower made light work of it, effortlessly collecting grass in the collector, which is easy to remove and re-attach. It is attactive, cute even and makes a pleasing noise when mowing. It looks like a toy tractor but it works hard, so you don’t have to. The price is really keen. Great competition to the more expensive Bosch. It really is the best electric mower I have used.
On the downside (these are likely traits shared with similar mowers), it is heaver than you expect from a plastic mower (due to the powerful motor I suspect), but still a lot lighter than say a petrol mower and the centre carry handle makes lifting it easier (well done Flymo). The grass collector is a good size, but it is positioned at an angle (up from the ground) and the apeture tends to block when half full as a result. If the grass collector were taller, having a lower rear section (shaped more like a wedge than a box), it would collect more grass before blocking (if you are reading Flymo).
Early days, having only bought it recently, but it appears to be a really good mower. It copes well with my unruly lawns, which have worn out many mowers. My grass, is marshy, grows thick and fast and is often damp, but this mower cuts it faster than previous mowers. Lets hope it keeps up the good work, it certainly appears to have more chance than the previous model, which was smaller and cheaper and gave up the ghost on the first cut of this year, hence this purchase
Great mower. I have always had Flymo hover mowers and took a bit of persuading by my family to invest in one with wheels. So glad I did, it is ligher, easy to use and leaves very few cutting on the lawn meaning no more green doggy footprints through the house after mowing. Although it is only March I have already cut my lawn which was like a meadow. Mower cut through it like butter – extremely happy – good investment and price. No more green doggy footprints
This mower does a brilliant job on my lawn. On many occasions I have let it get very overgrown and I thought this wouldn’t cut so well or struggle. Not at all. Went through all the grass like a sharp knife through butter. And it always collects everything. The entire build is very good with sturdy wheels and can be taken apart for easy and compact storage.
This mower is simple to set up and not too cumbersome. The cable is long so we can mow the front and back garden and it doesn’t do too badly on the borders either! The only thing I would say is that if you have a lot of grass, the holding compartment (for the mowed bits) seems quite small so we had to empty it a few times during mowing. Other than that, it does exactly what it says on the tin. Arrived quickly too!
This is nice and light for carting down to the shed and packing away. It also does a good cut and the engine is just a bit more powerful than the lower models, so the blades don’t get so affected by thicker grass or if it’s a bit damp. The engine keeps going at its regular speed.
Easy to assemble and gives a good range of heights. Particularly good at higher heights when the weather isn’t so good in order to protect your grass. Many mowers do go too low and you end up with a scalped lawn which is then rife with weeds because the grass gets damaged. You have proper control with the height adjustment on these blades.
Well packaged, incredibly simple to assemble (4 wing nuts for handle + clip together the collection box)
It is reasonably quiet as mowers go, very light and agile, and has a reasonable diameter of cutting.
The collection box fits well and is raised sufficiently at the rear to not foul on the ground. It seems to compact the grass very well and is nicely weighted with a good sturdy handle for lifting and emptying.
I was going to purchase a 215 lawnmower but at the last moment thought I would give this 65 Flymo a chance. And I am pleasantly surprised!
Nice sharp metal blade, 10 metre cable, good size box, and easy adjustment for cutting height make this a very worthwhile ‘bargain’ consideration.
My old lawnmower I think had a cut width of about 30cm. This one has 36cm, I have found it alot easier and quicker going round the garden. I particularly like the easy height adjustment on this. It is quite big compared to my old one but its light so moves around nicely and gives a nice cut.
However, there is one slight problem with the collector, there is no transparent flap/window to see how full it is! Its not a deal breaker as I got the hang of when to check, based on the weight and my start/end position in the garden.
It is lightweight and easy to use and cuts the grass well. The only problems I had related to putting it together. The grass box comes in two halves and is a bit tricky to assemble correctly and being lightweight the body is made mainly of plastic so might not be suitable for very heavy mowing tasks. Great for our medium size lawn.
Used it only once and was very surprised with its quality!
Our good old 20 years old WOLF started scalping the lawn towards the edges and being a bit more difficult to use, so it seemed like time to move on.
Only bought the Flymo as an affordable solution whilst looking for a robot.
Was thinking that we’ll need this for the front lawn anyway, as I’m not sure we’ll want passerby to see the robot.
Took me 20 minutes to assemble and was very easy to do.
Admittedly the grass was not overgrown but was still very impressed- done entire garden, front and back, only having to empty the basket at the end! Unbelievable in comparison to the numerous times I had to empty with the Wolf. The mower is very light but does a great job.
I’ll now need to find another way to exercise my arms…
Finish was very nice too.
The only small nag is the short cord- but since we have a big garden we had a wide range extension cord anyway so no extra cost.
Great value for money!
Absolutely brilliant lawn mower! I had been away on holiday for almost a month and when I came back my grass was in a right state so I ordered this lawn mower after seeing so many good reviews on it and I can honestly agree with every single one. 5 star!
Fantastic! So much easier than our old hover flymo. Even my 74 year old mother was itching to have a go and found it easy. Would definitely recommend it.
Really lightweight mower, only has a small grass box but as a woman that has back problems and cant lift much its perfect for mr! My teenage girls have used it without any problems too. Nice and easy to put together.
This mower took my wife just 5 minutes to assemble. So light to handle yet plenty of power and at only 79 what a bargain! Extended 3 yr warranty is a bit of a rip off at 39 off Flymo though!
Had to replace my Flymo, so I bought this one as it was almost the same, probably better, it cut very well, lightweight to lift, and a good price.
It was delivered on time.
Only used once so far.It is very light and perhaps a little flimsy but pretty good value. The cut was okay but not as even as i would have liked. Time will tell how good it is as I will need to use it a few times.
Just what I was needing. Grassbox was fiddly to assemble. A lot easier for me to use than the old hover mower.
So lightweight but very good at cutting. Very happy with purchase
A very good and efficient mower to use. Nothing compares. I have not seen my grsss so well trimmed for a very long time. Great stuff.
