This vacuum sealer seems well built. It comes with some sealing bags, a roll of tubular plastic with which you can make your own bags and a device that fits to other Foodsaver vacuum products such as containers and self-seal bags which are available separately.
The instruction that come with the machine are not great but I managed to work out what to do. It works well, after placing the food you want to pack into the bag you place the open end onto a heat bar and clamp the top of the machine down which clicks into place. Then you press a button and wait for it to remove the air and then seal the bag. And that’s it, quite simple really.
I like the roll of plastic as you can create bags of any size you like by cutting off the length you want, sealing one end with the sealer the placing the food inside and vacuum sealing the other end. The advantage of this is if you only want to remove some of the food you can just cut off the sealed end and reseal it provided you made the bag large enough to begin with.
This is very good for storing food for longer periods that just enclosing in a bag or clingfilm.
I must admit I’ve gone on a vacuum sealing spree ever since I tried this. It’s a very sleek and well-built gadget. Fairly lightweight and easy to move around, and its ability to be stored vertically is a huge benefit for those with crowded countertops or limited storage space.
It’s a breeze to use once you get the hang of it. My previous sealer had a button to press once you thought your bag finished vacuuming, so I really appreciate how quick and effortless the automatic process here. No need to sit by the machine to seal it after vacuuming. Just slide in the bag and let it do all the work. The whole process takes about 30-60 seconds depending on the size of the bag and everything in it.
I’ve sealed soup, meat, dehydrated fruit, herbs, and fresh produce with no issues. The seal is perfectly secure and doesn’t let any air in or out. The machine’s been very useful for storing prepped meals or leftovers as well. It saves a ton of space in the freezer.
A bit at the pricier end of vacuum sealers, but it’s very good quality and should last years if well-taken care of. I’d be happy to recommend it.

This FoodSaver (Model No. VS0100) arrived well packed in a nice looking box. The box contained the FoodSaver itself, 1 x Vacuum Seal Roll (28cm x 2.43m), 2 x Vacuum Seal Bags (946ml), 2 x Vacuum Seal bags (3.78L), a handheld sealer accessory and instruction manual.
The FoodSaver feels well built, and whilst the finish might not be the absolute best, it is perfectly acceptable. It measures approximately 40.7cm wide (including the switch on the side), 15.5cm deep and is about 7.5cm thick.
On the top towards the back are the three control buttons (Vacuum, Seal, and Mode) as well as 4 LED status lights. Nearer the front is the accessory port into which you plug the handheld sealer accessory. On the right side is one of the Lid Release buttons, and the Store Switch (the store switch locks the lid and stops it from accidentally opening when storing the device). On the left side is the second Lid Release button. On the underside are 4 rubber feet to stop it from sliding, and the 3 pin power cable which is about 70cm long.
The instructions are not as clear as they could be and badly laid out, with the diagrams away from the text (so a lot of going back and forth from the page with instructions to the page with diagrams). I must admit, I had to watch a video of someone using a similar machine to fully grasp how to use it. However after a few attempts I soon got the knack.
In use, the FoodSaver proved effective at both creating the vacuum and sealing the bags. I’ve been looking for a better way to store food to help prevent waste, and allow things to last longer and this has certainly fit the bill. It should be noted though that in order to use it, it does require quite a bit of pressure on both sides, to click both locks into place.
I was not able to test the Handheld Sealer Accessory as I do not currently have any of the FoodSaver Containers and Zipper Bags that it is designed to work with.
In conclusion I really like this FoodSaver and recommend it. The reason I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 though, is mainly due to the poor instructions. Once you get the knack it is easy to use, but the instructions do a bad job of getting you there. But also in part because for the asking price, I can’t help feeling like they should have included a few more bags than the 4 that come in the box, especially as it can take a few tries at first before you get it right..

Lovely device ,necessary indeed.
Although initially I thought I might not use this device as much ,it proved the exact opposite .
Not once I have thrown food from the fridge or freezer because the normal bags break and the food was exposed and contaminated with other types .
With this not only is more secure due to the material bag I am using but it is keeps it fresher for longer.
As I am a mom of two ,cooking fresh meal every day is quite challenging so instead I cook over weekend and place some in the freezer.
While for food with sauce I use containers ,for more solid foods I like to use bags to save some space.
This vacuum sealer machine is perfect for the cause..
It has a nice sleep design ,looks smart and won’t take as much space as you may think.
Easy to use ,within second you have your food sealed and vacuum .
Might seem pricey but it does a good job and saves you
I’ve gotten kind of used to these now although I still find some easier to use than others, this one falls in the latter camp unfortunately but only by a little.
The instructions are not particularly useful and if I had never used one before would probably not have helped too much so if you are new to the food saving world or sealing for freshness it may be a tad off-putting.
Once you know how these machines are quite easy to use and can save a lot of money by reducing food waste, I like the fact this one has both moist and dry selection when sealing as not all foods are the same and this can save hassle later.
The machine comes with some bags and a roll to get you started but seems a little pricey to me at just under 80, however it is a good machine and seems well made so if not for the few small niggles and the price would have been a five star review quite easily, this still remains a positive 4 star recommendation though.
Solid, sturdily-built vacuum sealer for food storage. This is very easy to use and very straightforward. It has a neat feature to stop you pushing the end the bag too far, so the end is in the vacuum chamber so the suction works.
Thoughtfully, this also comes with a selection of the bags needed. You get a selection of two sizes of bag plus a roll to cut bags to your own length. This is a nice touch because it means, if you give this as a gift, the recipient has everything in the box to start using it right away.
This vacuum sealer packages food in a way that helps it stay fresh and minimises the space it takes up. By removing the air the decomposition of the food is slowed so that it will last longer in the fridge and also prepares it for freezing. The unit is very easy to use and comes with a starter pack of bags, some individual, some in a tear off roll; the former are quite sturdy and look like they could be reusable although I have not yet tried this. The process of removing the air is very satisfying and food stored in the fridge in this way appears, and tastes, essentially unchanged, no browning and no smell from the bags. The advantage over ziplock bags or plastic storage boxes is vast. Certainly worth the investment.
Food Saving made easy keeping your meals for the week ahead fresh and ready to use when you want I admit I did get into a few problems at the beginning but after reading the instructions again I did get the jist of it it’s simple and easy to use and a great way to stop food waste by keeping it fresh in the bags that come with with this product also included in this are
1 x Compact Vacuum Sealer
1 x Handheld Sealer Accessory
1 x Roll Vacuum Sealer Bags (28cm x 2.43m), 2 x Small Food Storage Bags (0.94L), 2 x Large Food Storage Bags (3.78L), 1 x instructions
Great sleek design and very easy to keep clean great product at a decent price
Very easy to use and very practical. Its much better in my view to store foodstuffs in these vacuum sealed bags than in tupperware for example. Takes up way less space and when used in the freezer reduces freezer burns as there’s no air being frozen. The machine is straight forward to operate and the included user manual is clear and easy to understand. Though to be honest after an initial quick read through I haven’t found the need to refer to it again. My sister has a similar vacuum sealer machine that cost her about half as much as this one (which currently costs 79) and according to her this model is clearly superior, but perhaps not by twice as much.
This compact foos vacuum sealer by FoodSaver is an absolute game changer in my home. It is literally so easy to use. Simply put the food you want to preserve inside the bag or roll, then place the open need inside the hole within the machine (when the lid is opened). Then, close it again, ensuring you hear a click on both sides. Then, press the first button on the left (this will already flash). This button sucks out of the air from the bag. Finally, press the button to the right of that once. This adds some heat to the bag in a concise area which seals it. Finally, open the lid by pressing and holding both buttons on either side of the product. And that’s all, your food is now preserved for a lot longer!
I did this with some excess cheese I bought over Xmas as this will help to preserve them for 3 months rather than 3 weeks. This is great for families/people who like to cook in bulk but worry this will effect the quality and freshness of the food when eating left overs on some occasions throughout the week.
This product isn’t just limited to vacuuming cheese, but various other foods including meats and fish. This can prolong their life by up to a week longer in the fridge. Alternatively, you can freeze the foods once vacuumed for even longer.
Very impressed with just how easy this product is to use as well as how compact it is. I live in a small flat so I’m glad that this won’t take much space yet will make sure a huge difference in my home in reducing food waste.
Overall, well designed and super handy. 5 stars!
Thank you for reading my honest review, I hope you found it helpful! 🙂
I love this food saver! I’ve used a Food Saver for freeze food. It seals around the food taking all the air out preventing freezer burn!Right out of the box, read instructions, tried the machine and satisfied with it on the very first vac and seal. This unit works like a charm, every time. Comes with 1 x Compact Vacuum Sealer, 1 x Handheld Sealer Accessory, 1 x Roll Vacuum Sealer Bags (28cm x 2.43m), 2 x Small Food Storage Bags (0.94L), 2 x Large Food Storage Bags (3.78L), 1 x instructions. It has a separate lock for storage. Locking and unlocking the lid for use is easy and doesn’t cause thumb pain. It’s small enough to take along in the tiny travel trailer, for food storage along the way and doesn’t take up too much room to use on counter.
This is an impressive professional vacuum sealer, which is small and compact and works very effectively and efficiently. Because of its size it’s easy to store without taking up too much room in your cupboards and can be stored in its long side for even more space saving options.
The unit itself is very simple to use and it comes with a starter set of bags and a roll to try. I had some bags from a previous one I had, and these also worked effectively, so you can use any brand of bags with this, not just the ones from this brand, and that is common across most machines I’ve seen.
In operation it is quick and efficient, making short work of the process, and producing perfect vacuum sealed goods, ready to store easily, taking up far less space and ensuring freshness is retained. Now we have this machine, I think we’ll have far less food wastage, which can only be a good thing. One thing to note is that you do need to be quite firm when closing the lid of the machine, or it won’t click into place, once you know this you’ll be fine.
There is really nothing not to like about this machine, it’s simple to use and gives excellent results. Recommended.
Every kitchen needs one of these..
At first I struggled to get the machine to vacuum the air out, just seemed to be sealing the bags with the air trapped inside but once I figured it out
To suck the air out whilst sealing you have to put the opening of the bag into the green tray and bobs your uncle does it no bother. The green tray catches any moisture that it sucks out so very easy to clean.
The lid takes some force to push down and the release buttons take some pushing aswell but hopefully after time it will become easier.
Came with 4 pre made bags and a short roll. Very easy to actually make your bags, using the seal function on the machine. Only downside is the cost of the replacement roll, currently priced at 15
I grow my own vegetables and also make a lot of my own food, and this is a great way to ensure that the items stay fresh in the freezer. Previously I have used zip sealed bags, but because they keep some oxygen inside the bags, the food doesn’t stay quite as fresh, and sometimes suffers from freezer burn.
This is easy to use, it’s quite compact as well so fits easily into the back of the cupboard. I have recently been given lots of curry sauce portions that are just out of date (but perfectly edible) so this sealer was great to portion out and freeze, so they will be edible for several months to come, as well as taking up little space in the freeezer.
It’s not an item I will be using daily, but it’s great for when you cook extra portions and want to freeeze some for later use.
I hope you found my review helpful.
This is amazingly small compared to my old one where it was big and chunky! It saves me a lot of space now and does exactly the same job!
My old one I used for 3 years finally gave up on me, so I brought this much smaller one!
These are really easy to use and quick to use when sealing food. We use this a lot as our family is just me, my wife and baby so most the time we cannot finish a pack of meat and have to split it and freeze the remaining half. All done in 7 seconds!
Great it comes with some sample bags! 4 to be exact!
I must admit it took me a few attempts to even get it to vacuum properly as although the instructions state ‘press lid to lock’, every time I was pressing with one hand, (I didn’t know at the time) but it only locked one side, so wasn’t vacuuming enough. You do have to put quite a bit of pressure on both ends when pressing down to hear the lid lock. So the written instructions need to be a bit more detailed for me, a simple ‘listen for clicks on both sides’ would do so you know it has locked.
When selecting the wet setting, the machine leaves a bit of air inside to allow for the expansion of the food item. And It does seal the bag automatically after it has finished the vacuuming process. The seal fully secures the item inside and you just need to cut underneath the seal to release the food.
Takes around 8 seconds to vacuum the air out of a small bag with 2 chicken breasts in it. Then 25 seconds to seal the bag, switch itself off and enable you to open the lid.
When I got to grips with how to operate, this machine does what is advertised and it does it quickly.
great product! Would recomend this to everyone! Keeps food loverly and fresh, even crispbreads that normally go soft in normal food bags, are still crisp next day even after being in the fridge over night. The bags I hand wash time and time again, which saves on plastic bags, which is also good for the enviroment!
Excellent product, Works well with both the containers and zipper bags. It’s also very lightweight and compact which makes it easy to store/takes up very little worktop space.
Love it! Ordered this just before the holidays and it was perfect for saving leftover cheese and meats from Christmas. Also sealed half an avocado and it was in perfect shape – no browning at all and delicious DAYS later!
This vacuum sealer is pretty good when it comes to dry food : I had some leftover pumpkin from a pie and wanted to save it for future – because the pumpkin had a lot of juice that i did not want to throw away, when the vaccuum started to suck the air out of the bag, also started to suck the pumpkin juice. The liquid did went in the small space rezerved for these situations, but the bag sealling did not work – only for half the bag as it was moist from the juice.
I find these vacuum sealed bags help keep the food fresher than zip bags, and prevents freezer burn, so you can store leftovers for longer periods, without losing the quality of the food.
The machine came well boxed, with a selection of bags to try out and a small roll of open bags to get you started.
The instructions are easy to read and come in good English, not a translated form.
You also get a handheld sealer, to use with specific zip bags and boxes that have an opening to press this vacuum sealer up against. I won’t be able to demonstrate this, as no bags or boxes of this sort were included.
We bought a Lidl 1.50 box of veg today, so we were able to test the machine out on a large amount of white onions and a few parsnips. The machine was very easy to use, after a quick read of the instructions. Be sure there is at least 3 inches between the top of the bag and the contents before you start.
Make sure the lid on the machine is in the unlocked position, open the lid by pressing the buttons either side of the lid (they might be tight). Place the bag opening over the green vacuum channel and close the lid, making sure both ends lock, again it might be tight, but listen for the two clicks and the dry mode light will come on when it’s properly closed. This is the little water drop symbol with a line through it on the top of the machine.
Then press the vacuum seal button, the one on the far left, and sit back and let it do it’s thing. First it will vacuum seal the bag, then it will heat seal the bag. When both lights are on steady green or off, you can then open the lid up by pressing the two side buttons and remove your bag, it’s as simple as that.
When you want to use some of your contents, cut just below the seal, take out the amount you want to use, and as long as there is 3 inches of gap between the end of the bag and the contents, you can reseal the bag again. That’s why it’s probably best to use the larger bags, or a large amount of the roll, it will save on bags in the long run.
To use the roll, cut an amount off the roll that you want to use as a bag, place as before over the green vacuum channel, then close the lid and this time just press the heat seal button, the one to the right of the vacuum button. When the light goes a steady green or off you can remove the bag, fill it then vacuum seal as before.
I cannot see any reason why you cannot use other companies bags, if you feel these are too expensive. A really handy kitchen gadget that I’m happy to recommend.
