Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersOver a couple of decades training and fighting Muay Thai, I came to understand the importance of wrapping knuckles and wrists properly before doing any bag work, sparring or fighting. Part of this process involves applying tape over wraps once they’re on – paying particular attention to the areas in between the fingers and around the wrists. This keeps the wraps in place and prevents them from rubbing against skin when punches land – this is especially important when punching a heavy bag wearing bag gloves (which are thin and at 6-8 ounces don’t contain much padding), but less vital when sparring or fighting while wearing full-size 16-ounce Muay Thai gloves, which have a lot more cushioning. One learning experience happened when I never bothered to tape my wraps in place before putting on my bag gloves and doing a session on the heavy bag. Afterwards, when I took off my gloves and wraps, I saw that the skin of my knuckles had been stripped off by the repeated rubbing of the canvas wraps against my knuckles. After that, I always taped my wraps before doing any pad or bag work. My wraps of choice are Everlast Pro 180-inch wraps with velcro fastenings. You can buy a pair of those for less than 10. When I saw these Fortress padded wraps I was curious about how well they would work – especially considering their wildly expensive price.

Are they worth 65? Not really. They are effective, though. The design is fairly innovative, and I do appreciate the time-saving aspect. They can be put on in a few seconds, whereas applying traditional wraps and then taping them in place takes a few minutes. I chose the large size, which fits tightly around my knuckles – this is the desirable fit for wraps; if they’re too loose – even a tiny bit loose – this will allow abrasive movement against your knuckles and could result in a de-skinning that hinders your training until your hands have healed. Traditional wraps can be applied to fit any size of hands, whereas these Fortress wraps don’t have that versatility – so it’s vital that you get the right size. If you buy a pair and find them even a little loose, I recommend wearing traditional wraps (taped appropriately) underneath the Fortress wraps. A pair of 1-metre traditional wraps are included in the box along with the pair of Fortress padded wraps. For anyone with weak wrists, I recommend wearing regular wraps underneath the padded Fortress wraps. Wrist pain in boxing and/or martial arts is usually the result of poor punching technique, so if you’re experiencing wrist pain during/after training, you should examine the mechanics of your technique and then make necessary adjustments.

On the product page for these Fortress wraps, I noticed that among the people endorsing the product were a “World Champion Bare-Knuckle Fighter” and a “Professional Bare-Knuckle Boxer”. A “World Champion Bare-Knuckle Fighter” endorsing hand wraps is like a “World Champion Nudist” endorsing underpants. Just an observation. True bare-knuckle fighters don’t wear anything on their hands.

Quality wraps. Innovative design. Lovely packaging. Ludicrously high price.

I will admit I’m completely new to using a bag and gloves of any kind, but love these and prefer them over traditional gloves. They’re easy to don and doff, and I still have use of my hands if need them without taking them off. They’re comfortable and along with the included wraps give me the support and padding I need. They’re a bit pricey but very well made and seem worth it to me. They also come with a mesh storage bag and that where I found my only irritation – the drawstring is sewn or melted into the mesh on one side making it awkward to cinch closed. Excellent quality item here.

This is a typical asking price for these gloves which makes them worth it. That being said I do have an issue. In the pictures the gloves look nice and smooth whereas when you receive them they are a lot more netting like than they first appeared. Don’t know how to describe it other than the fishnet like stretchy netting is what it is used on the majority of these clubs. But they do fit nice and give good cushion and are easily taken on and off. Give good wrist support. They are very comfortable to wear and easily adjusted to fit most basic hand sizes. As I said for this product at this asking price these are definitely worth considering. More than others I have tried.

They protect my knuckles well and seem to be holding up well as far as the quality. They are maintaining their shape/tightness after about 15 sessions x 60-90 minutes and stitching still looks perfect. I added my own pair of 120 inch Mexican style wraps because the 1 meter (40 inches) ones that came with them are too short to support the hand and wrist with the Fortress wraps, as they are.

My baby brother has recently rediscovered himself and drowned in all sorts of sports stuff ( I wish, said my fat bum), so these made an excellent gift, as he kept complaining that he did not want to do proper boxing, but needs something to protect his knuckles, etc. So, hello! He has used them since end of April now and has since discovered a hidden kick-boxer in him, as it turns out! See, what a good pair of gloves can do! LOL! He is super pleased with them, not only are they well made in a such a way thagt over the past few months of extensive training ( eye roll – he used to be a fat slob, you know) they have not ripped, scuffed, cracked, etc. but they are very comfy, do not rub anywhere and are well designed. He loved them and it is high time I shared our excitement with the rest of the world! Buy them, if this is what you are looking for! You will not regret this!

Great pair of wrist straps for boxing or any type of fighting really supports your hands which is super important i got injured a few years back because the quality of the straps I had at the time were not good enough but these ones are super comfortable and top quality as well so you can train as hard as you want without the fear of injury

Had tendonitis for a while now and a bad wrist injury which I injured 2.5 years ago and still get pain now, after using these, I can throw with full power now without worry of any wrist pain coming back! I also bruised my knuckles which these allowed me to overcome. Might seem expensive initially but for the health of your hands and wrists, I would pay double.

The only flaw, if you could call it that, is the fact that the wrists are very loose and cannot be adjusted tighter. My wrists are pretty thin so I can’t really blame this on the manufacturer. These wraps make hitting the bag much more solid, allowing me to hit harder without worrying so much about my knuckles and wrist. Puts the old-style wraps to shame, takes under a minute to put them on, adjust them, and start hitting the bag. These wraps are great for powering up your bag training.

My partner has just starting kick boxing and I got these straps/wraps to protect and support his hands/wrists. They are breathable to keep hands as cool as possible and give extra support to the wrists through the semi rigid splints. The gloves also come with 1m compression wrap and wash bag. The gloves are secured with velcro strap which makes it easier to fasten and take off. Fortress is a good make and these were of very high quality and arrive in a decent presentation box. 5 stars!

I didn’t think they would come in such an attractive box, but they are packaged extremely nicely. If you are considering this item as a gift then it’s ideal!

They are very comfortable to wear, velcro seems strong enough but I’d personally preferred it a little stronger. The padding is more than enough to protect the hands. It’s easy to see that no corners were cut with these when it comes to the quality.

You certainly get what you pay for here!

Having previously used traditional wraps when training it can be time consuming. So when trying these for the first time I could not believe how easy they were to use. My hands were wrapped and ready to put gloves on within 2 minutes. The wraps slotted on and when fastened already felt supported straightaway, then if you like there is shorter wraps to give an even securer feeling. The wraps are padded and well supported, with the added protector on the back of the hand, which is optional whether you would like to keep it on. The product itself is really well made and is made to be breathable, giving a good feeling, of both protection and comfort when punching. They are also really easy to clean, which is a bonus. Overall I am delighted with the product as it offers great support, whist being straight forward to put on, making getting ready for training less of a task.

Supportive, well made and straight forward.

I had the previous version which I used for boxfit classes and I think these new wraps are definitely better.
The wrist is a bit more supported but still nowhere near what classic hand wraps can do.
With that said, this is still way better than any cheap gel wrap.
I am still using classic hand wraps for my normal boxing classes, but for boxfit they work just fine.

These fortress Boxing Wraps are superb quality, you see the quality straight out of the box , they come well packaged and presented in their own box.

They are breathable, quick to put on and take off but offer excellent protection to knuckles and keep your wrist protected with the splint.

The fully open velcro fastening makes it easy and quick to put the wraps on to save time , the fabric is thick and durable but lightweight and breathable too, they feel extremely lightweight on but offer that extra protection for your joints and wrist for heavy bag work.

The quality of the wraps are plain to see , definitely the best wraps I’ve tried so far , they look durable too , definitely an excellent pair of wraps that are a must to minimise injury when training hard, especially on the wrists , nothing worse than a wrist injury that can stop you from training , I’d definitely recommend these fortress wraps.

Superb quality, excellent wrist protection, quick to put on and take off.

Fortress Boxing Wraps – Wrist Straps for Kickboxing

A good pair of hand and wrist support wrap for punching with splints and finger separators. It is innovative, easy to wear, and most importantly, comfortable. The padding for the knuckles is satisfactory, so this would indeed prevent bruising and cuts.
I recently bought a pair of bandages for wrapping my hands and wrists. It took forever to wear and may sometimes be too tight in the end that you could lose patience when you need to backtrack.
I, therefore, would recommend this product to the avid gym-goer. From lifting to boxing, these wraps provide ample support and protection, tho it could have been better if the velcro was broader and stronger to secure the wrap better.

I tend to use Mexican wraps during sparring and padwork, and ones by Hayabusa and RDX do me just fine. So when these Fortress ones appeared on my list I was very curious, particularly as the price was sky high when compared to regular wraps.

Inside the shoe box like, erm, box, were the hand wraps, a couple of wrist wraps, and a wash bag for them.

First off, these are high quality, think of them as a little bit like the gel wraps that you can get, but minus the gel part of it. They fit very well, if a little tight along the webbing, but that’ll loosen up over time and use. They feel good when sparring and doing pad and bag work, but they do make things a little snug in my usual Twins Muay Thai gloves…

If I’m being perfectly honest, although these are great wraps and high quality, they aren’t any better at support and protection than the myriad of wraps you get out there and for a fraction of the price here. 65 gets you these wraps, which, I don’t think is worth it.

Great wraps shame about that price...

This fortress boxing wraps are very easy to use and comfy to wear.
    They are 100% breathable.
You can buy them in different sizes.
You can get full wrist & hand protection whenever you use them for boxing, climbing, weights, and other combat sports.
If you worry about injuries I think those wraps can let you to stop worrying.
Yes they are good but I think they are a bit expensive, but sometimes protection is more important.

My son is very sporty, not watching but taking part. These will be perfect for him as he has his own kick boxing club, trains in MMA and just had his first cage fight. He is back training for another cage fight later in the year.
One thing he is keen on is using the right equipment and these are perfect to support his training. Everything comes with a mesh drawstring bag, which is ideal to keep everything on one place both before and after sessions. The main body is a mesh material with velcro fastening to achieve that perfect fit. The bandage wraps are flexible so that he keeps movement while always supported in vulnerable areas. He is very pleased with this set.

    Supports in vulnerable areas

Its a must for better protection when punching the heavy bag. High quality, gives reliable support from the base of knuckles down to the wrist — allowing improved stability to limit injuries.
High quality item, its a must for punching to lower risk of injuries as a helmet for motorcyclist.

Better protection when punching the heavy bag . The stitching is very durable and feels very good quality/well made. Fits as they say, and in addition to being very convenient to wear, another advantage is that it is also protective.
The fist peak is additionally thickened, with soft filling material, which is more cushioning. There are three Velcros at the top of the fist, similar to the wrapping design of professional boxing bandages, which can better fix the cushioning material at the top of the fist. There is also an extra protection design on the wrist, so that you can exert force with confidence, and there will be no wrist soreness and so on.

    Better fit on the wris

I used to hate having to wrap my hands when boxing. With these it makes it so much easier protect your hands before you work out. They are comfortable and offer good protection. My only criticism is that they are a tad expensive.

I’ll get the couple of negatives out of the way first; they are overpriced for what they are. The quality of materials and construction just looks a little cheap: faux leather, minimal width of velcro straps, pointless little wraps that come with them, and the knuckle padding seemed too soft – I think I was expecting some more substantial foam/gel material.

Having said that, though I’ve not used them for very long – just 3 sessions so far – I don’t have any concerns with the quality of materials and construction….they’re up to the job – I just think the markup is excessive. I doubt they can cost more than about 5 to make so the 65 price tag is a little much for what they are.

On the positive side, they work. They’re easy and quick to put on, and add a great extra layer of protection underneath your regular wraps. They do tend to squeeze the little finger a bit, and the extra bulk makes it a bit harder to put your gloves on, but that’s neither here nor there – they’re still comfortable and still work well.

I use 16oz gloves to hit the heavy bag for 2-minute rounds, as hard as I can for cardio (I’m not bothered about technique). I have an existing hand injury after a couple of surgeries which makes hitting painful at times, especially since I’m orthodox and so my right hand is my ‘big’ bomb (relatively! Not saying I hit particularly hard). Consequently I’m always a bit reticent when hitting with my right and need all the support I can get. Good quality wraps and gloves help, but these Fortress wraps add an extra level of protection which is really noticeable – the last few sessions I’ve been hitting the bag harder than ever because I’m feeling no pain at all, which makes you hit with more confidence.

I also suspect the Fortress wraps may extend the life of your gloves. Mine usually last for about 650-700 2-minute rounds before going soft – usually the padding in the right hand is the first to go. When the padding gets damaged and worn out, your hands are no longer getting the protection you need and it’s time for a new pair. I think the Fortress wraps will make gloves viable for longer.

Overall a solid 4/5. I’m glad I bought them, and I’d buy them again. I suppose they’re good value for money too since they deliver what they promise….I just think 65 is too high a markup.
