Overall great travel router. I found it easier to use via connection to a VPN with the Android app, and easier to connect to WiFi via laptop browser. Had some connection issues but that was due to my main router being far away/thick walls. I’d recommend this brand

Whoa, lil guy that packs a big punch! I traveled with it for two months and I loved it. So many nice features. It was amazing being able to setup my private wifi anywhere I went. I used ExpressVPN with it, but since I’ve upgraded to combining a Brume 2 and this for a tunnel via WireGuard between this router and my home setup. Highly recommended!

Incredible value. Compact form factor. I haven’t stress tested the WiFi since that’s not critical to my use case.

Note you have to install the (beta, as of 2023-09-22) 4.3.7 (or higher) firmware update in order to get the Multi-WAN feature (e.g. failover from Ethernet to USB tethered smartphone). I briefly tested it and it seemed to work, but I haven’t used it in a mission-critical situation yet.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersProduct arrived on time and as promised.
Product performed at the rate of quality and speed it claims.
    I used it to
-run a private network (QuickBooks desktop and sharing files) between 2 computers
    -conduct teams meetings
    -offer wifi to the house

I sourced the internet from a cell phone and it worked good enough to do the job.
Overall, the product is reliable and a good value.

I would recommend this and any upgraded version of it.
    Good product!

Good Product - Easy to setup - Works as promised at speed it promised - Buy it.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI spent a few hours fiddling with this device, and one of the first things I ran into is that WPA3 was completely broken and I couldn’t connect while using that. I updated the device and that didn’t help – but it turns out that this was still a very old firmware, and I eventually manually checked a little later and found that there’s a major new version 4. Updating to v4.3.6 fixed WPA3, and also made the VPN functionality work correctly which was effectively useless for me on v3. I wish I had realized this much earlier as it would have saved me a few hours of messing around with this thing.

After running this update, I think this is a very slick, flexible, and powerful little router that could be useful for many different travelling scenarios. I like that I can set up the switch on the side to connect to my Wireguard VPN at home so I don’t even have to get into the management interface to connect.

I think the UI is pretty nice looking and works well on a phone as well. V4 even adds dark mode (although it really should auto-detect the system dark mode which it does not, you have to manually enable it).

I like the size, colour and form factor. Even better it works very well. Follow the instructions to setup the router up and bingo, all done. Works off USB-C, so I will buy a second one for the caravan. The 5Ghz sensitivity is better than my Sony Television Wi-Fi, allowing better streaming.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI’m very impressed with the design, the range, the software controls, and the interface. I have owned dozens of home routers in the past. This little travel-size has outperformed them all.

Getting started – so easy! Just plug it in, find the WiFi, and give it WAN access. I chose to use the wired connection to my modem so I was literally connected to the internet in 2 minutes. If I want to use it as a gateway and repeater, it’s so easy to pickup the hotel WiFi and I don’t have to setup a new internet connection on each of my devices individually.

Next, I loaded my VPN provider (you can choose from a dozen or more brands) and gave it my login. And all my devices now appear to be getting an internet connection from my home country. I travel the globe year-round so this allows me to appear online as if I am in my home market for movies, banking, and search results. And everything I transmit is securely encrypted and firewalled.

Range & speed – across the room, I get 300mb and with Wireguard turned ON, that drops to 125mb. Very acceptable! Three stories above the router, I still get a very solid connection on the 2.4 wireless (5g drops to an unreliable 1-bar).

Navigation- the software is very smartly designed for both streamlined convenience and super-capable functionality. There is mobile app for key features, a more robust web app, and a full-featured downloadable UI for programming custom routing, rules, exclusions, etc.. It has an impressive number of features.

Cumpre a funo para que foi adquirido, simples na instalao e configurao, no entanto necessitava de mais uma ou duas porte de LAN, para evitar adicionar um Switch na rede.

Great little travel router if you need to VPN back to home or for video streaming services. Only criticisms are Openvpn tunnel does not automatically reconnect if the internet drops. Also streaming services are onto Wiregaurd and many are blocking them geographically. Otherwise easy to configure and get up & running.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI recently acquired a VPN travel router, and I am excited to share my experience with this portable and user-friendly device that enhances security during my travels. With its impressive features and a minor caveat to be aware of, this router has become an essential tool for maintaining a secure connection on the go.

One of the standout advantages of this VPN travel router is its compact size. Designed with portability in mind, it easily fits into a backpack or carry-on luggage without taking up much space. Its small form factor makes it ideal for travelers seeking a lightweight and convenient solution to establish a secure network wherever they go.

The ease of use and setup process of this travel router is another significant benefit. With straightforward instructions and intuitive controls, it requires minimal effort to configure and connect to your desired VPN network. Whether you’re a tech-savvy individual or someone who prefers simplicity, the user-friendly interface ensures a hassle-free experience during the setup process.

Security is a paramount consideration when it comes to VPN travel routers, and this device doesn’t disappoint. By encrypting your internet connection, it helps protect your sensitive data and online activities from potential threats and prying eyes. The added layer of security provides peace of mind, especially when using public Wi-Fi networks in hotels, cafes, or airports.

However, it’s worth noting that this router can be finicky with some VPNs, and it is advisable to do thorough research beforehand. While it generally works well with a wide range of VPN providers, compatibility issues can arise with specific VPN services. It is recommended to check the device’s compatibility list or seek customer reviews to ensure that your preferred VPN will work seamlessly with the router. Taking this precaution will help prevent any potential frustration during the setup process.

Despite this minor caveat, the VPN travel router offers overall convenience and security. Its compact size, ease of use, and robust security features make it an excellent choice for travelers seeking a portable solution to establish a secure network connection.

In conclusion, if you’re looking for a portable and user-friendly VPN travel router, this product is worth considering. While it can be finicky with some VPNs, thorough research beforehand can help mitigate any potential compatibility issues. Enjoy the convenience of secure connections on the go with this VPN travel router, and travel with confidence knowing that your data and online activities are protected.

Golden Review Award: 38 From Our UsersImportant: You’ll have to do some research, but there’s info on YouTube and other places.

Need to connect to your work network securely in another country while appearing to be home?

You need this router, and an account with a service that provides a dedicated IP address and WireGuard servers near the places you’ll travel. AzireVPN or TorGuard are good examples. The more popular VPN services like ExpressVPN are mostly built on OpenVPN protocol, which doesn’t offer all the capabilities you’ll need. Also, your VPN of choice should have servers in the country you’re traveling to, and in the country where your job is located.

It’s best to set up your VPN tunnel at least a few days or weeks before you travel. This way you have time to test and prove it works.
    1. Start by going to gli-net.com and finding the documentation on the router you got. In this case, Beryl.
    2. Shop around for VPN services that offer WireGuard and dedicated IP.
    3. Follow the GLiNet documentation on setting up WireGuard.
    4. Set everything up. Make sure the dedicated IP is set up in the zip code or area where your official address is – not your traveling address.
    5. Familiarize yourself with the process of setting up the router as a repeater on various WiFi networks, and then testing it with your laptop, phone, etc.
    6. If you’ve done this right, when you’re connecting in another country and open google maps, it will open displaying the area your home is located, rather than the area where you actually are.

I used this successfully for two weeks in another country last year, and had zero problems. I was able to sign in to all corporate secured servers and websites, attend Microsoft Teams meetings, and use RSA authentication – all with no issues. Yes, sometimes authentication would require 20-30 seconds instead of 3-5 seconds to sync, but it always connected.

I’m not an IT professional. I’m a creative with just the most basic knowledge of these things, and I was still able to figure this out. Just make sure you get it right, because you may be locked out if you make a mistake.

Whenever I moved to a different wifi, I would set up the repeater and test my connection using a personal device, making sure google maps called up the location of the dedicated IP – and not the actual location I was at.

    Good luck!
