It’s a good camera and easy to install. The only issue I have found is that when the power to it is stopped I.e you need to move it to a different location and so have to unplug it, It does not immediately connect again in the app when plugged back in. It remains offline. I have found I need to delete the device from the app and set it up again from scratch, which is slightly annoying. Also note that it takes longer than 30 seconds for the click and 3 tones to sound and for the audible message to be heard. Be patient as it can take minutes, but it will sound eventually.

My previous Gen 1 version of this camera stopped working, and so I decided to replace with the latest Gen 3 version. Compared to the Gen 1 camera, this Gen 3 camera is far easier to setup and comes with a far more user friendly and professional looking app. Even relative beginners should manage to set this up and running by following the Greenfeathers APP instructions. I still had some difficulty to get the camera to install with the QR code, but having given up with that, I had no issues to install using AP mode. Once up and running, the wifi connection seems better and more stable than the Gen 1 and the picture is excellent.

I also have a Synology ds218+ Nas, and have added the camera stream to Surveillance station so any videos when motion is detected are saved to my NAS. Compared to the battle with the Gen 1 camera… this was straightforward, and means I have almost endless storage of the video.

Time will tell if the longevity of this camera! But so far so good… just need some birds to move into and nest in the bird box.

Efficient delivery. Well made product and easy to setup including connection to Alexa which provides instant video of the bird box. Video and photos are excellent quality. Hoping to receive our first tenants this spring. Would highly recommend this product bundle.

Very pleased with the product the picture shows the app picture at 7.45pm last night when pitch dark outside. The clarity and detail is excellent. Set up was easy though possibly helped by having a router at the back of the house due to working at home. The camera is still 20 yards away and working fine. Would recommend – not cheap but certainly effective.

    Excellent upgrade solutio

Easy to install and a great picture. Followed the review comments and set it up close to the wi-fi router. Camera is about 8m from the router through 2 walls and the signal is fine around 85%. The app works well but takes a while to figure out how to change settings etc. All in all very satisfied.

Difficult to set up, but when you eventually get it working it has a very clear picture and the light set up is a great asset, the ‘you have a visitor’ sensor is excellent all worth the fitting and connection hassle in the end.. .. it’s a pity that supplier has not set up a cancellation system before dispatch !! In other words if you order the wrong model in error then order your correct choice , you will pay and receive both and have the hassle of returning the wrong one.

I bought this camera for the children, It came well packaged and was easy to set up. I watched the green feathers setup video on YouTube, which was a great help. However when I was installing the camera into the box the antenna came off. I contacted the seller and got a response the next day and they sent me a new antenna, which has easy to change. This product is excellent and would highly recommend.

This was a replacement to a wireless version (which connected via its own wireless link to a box that you connect into your TV). It is far superior in terms of picture quality, giving HD full colour in even quite dim light and reverting to monochrome/infrared for night vision which is surprisingly effective.

Setup can be quite tricky, I work in IT (applications and not networking) but do have some understanding of the technical aspects and it did take me a while to get everything up and running.

The camera only connects to a 2.4Ghz WiFi network which should be fine as most modern routers / hubs offer both a 2.4Ghz and a 5Ghz network. However, you need to set up the camera far enough away from the hub to be sure that you connect to the 2.4Ghz signal instead of the 5Ghz. I did the set up with the camera on the other side of the house to the router and it worked just fine, using the QR code method described in the instructions.

My issues came when I put the Birdbox on the rear wall of the house as the WiFi signal was too weak and the camera could not connect at all. I ended up buying a 2.4 GHz WiFi repeater (placed in a mains socket next to the patio doors and therefore much closer to the Birdbox) to offer a 2.4Ghz WiFi network for the camera. Repeating the set up for this extended network went smoothly and I was able to stream video from the camera using the Green Feathers app on both my iPhone and on my iPad. During set up your iPhone with the app must be on the same network as the camera, thereafter it doesn’t matter.

You can view the camera feed in the app regardless of what network you are on – the extended WiFi the camera is connected to, the main home network or even on 4G when away from home! Very impressed! I guess security wise it’s not ideal, but I figure that the inside view of a Birdbox is not really going to be a security concern and you do need to be logged into your Green Feathers account on the app to access it.

Overall, very pleased with the camera. If you are considering it I can recommend it, just take your time with the set up and work through it methodically, it does work. It would have be good to have a bigger picture, but it’s fine for what it is (I’ve included a screenshot from the app showing the empty box!).

Hoping that we will get birds nesting in the box again this year now that we have the camera working!

UPDATE : Feb 03 2022 : we have a visitor now! Screenshots of video feed attached, these are in monochrome due to the lower light, but great to see our visitor!

Bit fiddly to set up but end results are great!

Not assembled yet, it’s a Christmas present. Quality of bird box is first class but can’t comment on the camera yet.

Well made box. Issue was that WIFI signal was too weak when mounted in intended location – even when testing signal with tablet as suggested showed it as OK. Moving box to another location worked.

Really pleased with quality of picture, but as yet no birds have taken up residence. Think we should have installed it earlier in the year.

Delivered on time. Easy to set up the camera in the box. Camera and bird box both high quality and good value for money. Camera HD, good night vision also.

A compact, sturdy and easy to use bird box camera that we’ve installed into a home made bird box. It was easy to set up so we could connect via our wifi, and gives good night images.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersHesitated to write review of this. It’s a sturdy bird box. Took my son in law quite a while to install camera. He had to liaise with the manufacturer several times and eventually got to grips with it. It wouldn’t seem to be very user friendly for the average person as he is an IT support worker! In the end once it was finally working he said the picture quality is good. Missed the nesting season with all the hassle to get it going.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThe app is slightly clunky when using but not bad at all. The bird box is solidly made, with good quality screws so had no qualms removing a couple of panels to fit the camera. Don’t forget to focus the camera lens before reassembly. Just need to wait for a nesting pair to take up residence.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersExcellent product, easy to fit and setup. The signal shows about 70% from one end of a Bungalow to the other so plenty of scope for distance. Lots of Family have down loaded the app so that they can view whoever moves into the box.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersPros:
    – Setup was very simple using the Green Feathers app on iOS (not sure why others have had problems with iOS)
    – It joined our network without issues, and we didn’t need to separate the 2.4/5Ghz channels as it suggests you may need to in the troubleshooting guide
    – Good picture quality compared to our previous camera
    – Notifications on movement detection are great, especially this early in the year when the birds pop in to size up their new home
    – Sharing with other household members, or even outside that, is easy
    – The addition of audio is brilliant, being able to hear the birds is lovely

    Cons:
    – As others have mentioned, there is a speaker in the camera, and bizarrely it gives voice updates when ‘waiting for wifi’ or ‘connecting to wifi’. Quite why this hasn’t been disabled given that it’s in a bird box is baffling – at very least there should be a setting in the app to disable it. On the upside, now that it’s setup this should be a rare event if you don’t have power cuts or keep restarting your broadband router, etc. and also it’s not *too* loud, so I don’t think it will upset any nesting birds.
    – We don’t yet have enough light in our box to get full colour video, so I’ve ordered the optional LED light that only comes on during the daytime, and will update the photo if that resolves it. That’s not really a drawback of the camera, more down to the design of our bird box and it’s documented in the listing too.

All in all I’m very pleased with it and would recommend it to others.

Simple setup, works well on our iPhones. Very pleased.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI had to build a new nest box as the camera has to be installed 120 mm above the floor so I needed extra height.
As I was building from scratch the camera was easy to install.
At present the app will not work with iPhone, this was not mentioned on the enclosed instructions and it took a lot of messing about and wasted time before I reached a mention of downloading the TUYASMART app. In the FAQ section. The company should enclose a warning label until they have sorted out this issue.
Other than this problem, so far I am delighted with the product and hope a nest is built.

    Great product, poor instructions.
