If you want a reliable soldering station -iron, get one like this it will do a better job than many other products in the class.
Toy looking like device and pretty expensive.
Watched 101 videos of how to solder in order to try and find out why I was so useless.
Little joy, so I decided to try a quality iron; and it worked.
Very pleased
Great documentation. Love it when you get full parts diagram. Really solid iron and feels great. Doubt Ill ever need another for what I work at in my hobby.
You have to Google for the instruction manual to understand the secrets of how to set the temperature and preferences. Personally I think adding a 3rd or 4th button would have been more intuative. All that said once you have managed to set the temperature you want it’s a great soldering iro
Very well built works perfectly heats up very quickly even from cold the interface is a little strange but it works it’s the best soldering iron I have ever used.
I have bought several before this one and they were Chinese junk that works for a few times and and must have spent the same amount of money them before ponying up for this one I wish I had bought this one in the first place.
Can’t really say Christmas present for my son . He says it’s good
Everything is great about this station. I use it for working on guitars and it is perfect for the job.
This is by far one of the best soldering stations on the market, and after seeing other use it I decided to bit the bullet and buy one for myself. I can genuinely say that it’s fantastic. My only wish is that it looked less like a toy and more like a professional bit of kit, but that might be my personal preference perhaps. Good buy overall!
Going from a cheap 10 iron that took more than 10 seconds to melt solder, to this Hakko set was something I wish I did earlier. Soldering now is much easier and more enjoyable. It certainly isn’t cheap, but it is a mid-priced soldering kit which I would gladly recommend to people who solder often.
This is honestly the best soldering iron I’ve ever owned. If you solder electronics any more frequently than a few times a year, then it is definitely worth getting this.
I went through a stream of other soldering irons from cheap Chinese no-names and up to Antec. I was fed up of tips dissolving, temperature being all over the place, tips coming loose with the slightest bit of pressure, collars melting and even entire irons falling apart in my hands.
So out of frustration I decided to spend a bit more and got this Hakko… Wow!
The temperature is feedback controlled. If I dial it down to 320 degrees C, I can solder chip pins without cooking them. The tip is solid and doesn’t dissolve. The base is chunky and holds the iron well. The grip is an excellent heat insulator but is also antistatic. I have been able to easily solder surface mount components.
The only reason I hesitated buying the Hakko was because it looks toy plasticy. However it’s actually a really solid unit and the solder mount is all metal. They’ve just decided to go for glossy bright paint.
If you are after an soldering iron then you cannot go wrong with this make I highly recommended i
I spent a while looking for a solder station and in the end purchased the Hakko. I must admit I am very happy with the purchase – it cheats up quickly, holds heat well and when you confirm the presets (after turning them on as the default is off) its easy to change temperature. The build is very good and its small enough not to get in the way. I was thinking of the Weller WE1010 however after looking at some YouTube videos I thought the Hakko was better built. I am not disappointed so would recommend this station for anyone who needs a decent iron.
Bought as gift for husband who had wanted it for a long while. It’s very solid and although he hasn’t had chance to use it yet, he did check it out and it heats up extremely quickly. He was very impressed and happy with it.
Lovely tool, very easy to hold and heats up quickly.
Having only ever used cheap soldering irons, this Hakko iron is the difference between night and day. It makes soldering a breeze. Amazed at the speed in which it reaches temperature. The tips are of a high quality and transfer heat effectively. It’s worth every penny.
hat one not original 3 pins UK plug , is import and change from seller , But anyway no problem , give you 5 stars
Good build quality
User interface takes some getting used to
Professional product
Funky colour scheme
Widely available range of tips
Well-made, with a comfortable iron, flexible silicon lead, good range of bits and excellent temperature range, particularly at the vital low end. The user interface is just a joke however. Cut out the instructions, glue them to a piece of card and keep them propped up by the station if you want to use the pre-sets, recalibrate (“adjust”) the temperature, or even just change it. No, the “Up” button does not mean raise the temperature! If you get it wrong you will inadvertently alter the calibration of the instrument. IIDRTFI.

Excellent piece of kit. One of the best out there. Very happy customer!
Really good bit of kit. Well worth paying more than for a Chinese copy.
There are slightly better soldering irons at many times the price, and there are ones which are somewhat cheaper and vastly inferior. In terms of day to day usability, in addition to factors such as readily available spares and tips etc, hard to beat at this price.
Works well for my craft work even with lead free solder. Struggled with soldering irons in the passed not being powerful enough for my crafts but this does the job well.
Well worth the money. Combine with original tips and you can’t go wrong. The difference between this and a cheap iron is night and day.
Had this for 3 months and used it lightly over that time to build a few circuits and repair a few guitars.
Turned it on today and got an S-E error.
Took the handle apart to check the tip to find the heating element snapped in half.
Extremely disappointed after wanting one of these for so long and hearing such good things.
Had much cheaper irons last a hell of a lot longer and take a lot more punishment.
Hoping the seller / manufacturer will resolve this under warranty.
UPDATE – updating my review because I knew all along this was the standard when it comes to solder stations. Amazon were snappy in replacing my broken unit and since then I’ve had many happy months of soldering and am benefitting from the well renowned quality of this solder station.
Don’t look any further this is the one you want.
This is worth the money, terrific iron, if you have been through a few cheaper ones. Then end your search as this is just a fantastic iron.
I am a newbie to electronics and totally new to soldering. After reading some of the mixed reviews for cheaper soldering irons I chose this one. Well made, very quickly heats up and retains the tip heat. Easy to change tips. Consult the manual before you change settings. This iron has made soldering easy for me – so for me it is worth the higher price. Should last a lifetime (hopefully!)

After much deliberation, reading reviews and looking at alternative and cheaper options I ultimately still went for this unit. Got to say I’m very pleased.
Gets to temperature very quickly. The digital readout is very clear and although I’ve yet to use any of the other pre set temperature ranges or set an alternative the options are there.
I find the soldering iron itself very comfortable to hold and well balanced.
In conclusion there are obviously cheaper soldering units available but this one for my part is great…..
This is a good Soldering Station and realy easy to setup and use
Bonjour,
Apprently Hakko make two of these stations an orginal and one made in China. (This review is for the more expensively made original one)
I have had quite a few soldering stations and they have all disappointed. I got the HAKKO FX-888D Soldering Station, 70W, AC, 26V after reading some great reviews. I was a little put off by how it looked ( kind of like a toy ) but after using it all my fears were set aside. The soldering jobs were much easier for me to do than ever before.
It reaches selected heat setting very quickly and is very nibble to use. I suppose the only criticism is I wish it had come with a selection of interchangeable solder heads. In any event the solder heads are quite easy to buy in whatever sizes you will need later on.
Arrivato in tempi veramente rapidi. Doppio imballo e prezzi decisamente buoni. Il prodotto si presenta bene. Gi usato. Molto maneggevole e entra in temperatura in modo rapidissimo. Fornitore Affidabile
Excellent . Was using cheap and nasty ones previously , with no heat controller . No comparison. I was burning pads and all sorts , although I am new to soldering. With this no problems with burnt pads , it great, Excellent purchase
I bought this as the cheaper irons I’ve had before just weren’t cutting it for me. I needed something that would work straight away with ease to save time on repairs, and I got that with this little beauty. Its amazing, it heats up in seconds and also the main reason I bought it was for the awesomely fast thermal recovery.
It truly does bring back the temperature much much quicker than any cheaper iron on the market. The tip it comes with is great, but I do suggest you buy more genuine tips to deal with other types of repair work. It also comes with a maximum of 5 presets which makes it easier to switch between temperatures and it also has the capability to set a password to protect the station from thieves and little ones if they manage to get into the repair room.
The station itself is surprisingly heavy and sturdy, extremely well built. The iron is comfortable to hold and the 2m heat resistant cable gives you great freedom of movement.
All in all I’m completely happy with this Hakko FX888D, it’s expensive but designed to last a VERY long time.
Don’t waste your time and money on cheaper alternatives, they just don’t cut it the way the hakko does.
Very happy, thank you Hakko for creating this masterpiece. I just wish they still made the analogue version, maybe someday they’ll bring that option back, who knows.

Excellent soldering iron, the options the review gave me to rate were, warmth value for money and thickness.
As for warmth it’s very warm and you can also adjust the warmth to get the best soldering performance. The tip it comes with isn’t the best for anything other than intricate soldering jobs, but the tips are easy to come by and the cheapo ones you get for the Chinese solder stations work fine. As for its thickness well it’s pretty solid and the grip is nice so for thickness I have it five stars. Value for money is also 5 stars. It sells out quick when it’s in stock so get a we alert or add it to your basket.

This soldering station is one of the best purchases I have made for my home lab. It’s reliable, heats up quickly and maintains a generous thermal capacity when compared to products of a similar level within the market.
The outstanding build quality sets the benchmark for what a robust soldering station should feel like. Everything feels solid and the painted, cast metal dock for the iron is substantial enough to remain in place whilst cleaning the tip, so no more sliding around the bench! Storing the brass wire cleaning balls in the iron holder is a nice (and convenient) touch. The iron itself is also extremely comfortable to use for long periods without major hand fatigue setting in.
The tips don’t heat us as fast as the newer direct heat irons but unless you are someone who is soldering a joint every second, or is soldering onto exceptionally large ground planes, it will make little difference. From room temperature to 350c takes about 25 seconds or so and the station has a working range between 50-480c.
The conical tip that comes with the station doesn’t possess much thermal capacity, so I would recommend acquiring a 2mm (or larger) bevel, chisel or hoof tip to set you on your way. While the official tips are much more expensive than the cloned tips, there is a considerable difference in the performance and tolerances of the product. I tried out some cheap tips a while ago and while they seemed reasonable for the first couple of uses, I noticed some of the more eclectic tips had a miserable thermal capacity. The cheap J & K series tips had a temperature differential of 90 between the display of station and the value I was reading with a soldering iron thermometer at the irons tip — meaning that I would have to turn offset temperature of the station up to almost maximum in order to get 350c. I’m not willing to do this in order to save a few pounds on tips, so from now on only official ones for me!
The only significant downside I can see is the user interface is overly convoluted. To conserve space, Hakko have made some odd choices in regard to how the temperature of the station is adjusted and pre-sets are selected, which some people may find off putting. I generally solder at one temperature for most things (350c) so it isn’t an issue that I have been butting heads with frequently, but anyone who likes to solder at multiple temperatures may find this awkward or even annoying while the learning curve is climbed.
Is this soldering station expensive? Yes and no. It is a significant purchase and priced at perhaps four times the cost of a cheap clone station, but you are paying Hakko reliability and quality. I have no doubt that this station will last me 10 years or more. There is a reason why so many of the inexpensive soldering stations you can buy from various companies online are either direct clones of the legacy Hakko 936 stations or the companies gained their start making such copies. Hakko are the best, without a doubt.

Articolo ottimo… ma arrivato con spina USA. Imballaggio non da trasposto e non sigillato. Per fortuna all’interno c’era tutto.
Compact, fast warm up, iron perfect size & weight, easy tip change. Very pleased.
Very nice iron. A big step up from an unbranded 40 station bought elsewhere a few years ago that gave nothing but trouble.
Some people have complaints about the user interface (i.e. set one digit at a time) but personally I find it quicker to set to a desired temperature than other stations that have both up and down buttons. Individual preference I guess.
Also the plug is fitted with a 13A fuse so it would be prudent to change it to something more appropriate (1A or 3A max).

Quite simply the best soldering iron I’ve ever owned. Yes – it’s eye-wateringly expensive compared to most on the market but it’s worth it. Amazingly fast heat up time, rock-solid temperature control and most importantly, and iron that fits well in the hand and is very controllable as a result. I’m about 3 months in with this now, and still appreciate it every time I use it.

Great iron, replaced my old worn out iron which I used for soldering RC battery connectors.
Plenty of heat and control.
Always wanted one of these delighted I bought one, have so far had no problem with it.
Up until now, I have made do with the cheapish soldering iron with power cord attached, and no temp control.
The difference is like night and day. Turning it on, seeing how quickly it gets to temperature, being able to use it almost immediately, I don’t know why I didn’t buy something like this years ago.
My only suggestion from a personal preference is don’t use the supplied point tip, get a Hakko chisel type, in my opinion these ate 100 times easier to solder with (and probably best to splash out the few extra on an actual Hakko tip rather than a cheap non branded one).

Excellent iron. If you’re serious about and/or have a lot of soldering to do, don’t get a cheap one – just go straight to this. You’ll save money in the long run.
This item looks very good and well made still testing item great expectations
Great little iron, is it the best soldering iron out there? No. But, for the price it can’t be beaten. Only thing, the conacle tip it comes with really sucks for most jobs so I would highly recommend grabbing a chisel tip at the same time that you will find a lot more versatile.

A high quality soldering station. It’s quite small which is nice as it saves space. A bit quirky to configure but once you get the hang of it its a breeze. First station I’ve owned that has presets. Why don’t they all have that? Comes up to temp quickly and has good regulation. Wish it came with a chisel tip instead of a conical one but not a big issue. Amazon sells genuine Hakko replacement tips.

What can I say, superb bit of kit and glad I paid the extra for a quality iron.

Always wanted one and I couldn’t be happier with it.
I paid 119.65 (it was on sale) very nice to use and good instruction manual on how to set temperature controls and Presets
The only problem with it is the novice using it Me.
I did that stupid thing of buying cheap, they ended up breaking or being irregular with the temperature. Getting this thing out of the box the quality difference is obvious, it’s a really good piece of kit. Now I can get back to my patchbay soldering!
Top equipment, thank you. Heating system of equipment works perfect – im started to be calm and happy when i do microsoldering work. Temperature stability control amaizing. Thank you again.
its like night and day after using a few different irons in the past, this soldering station is easy to use and heats very quickly.
quite expensive but you can see where your money goes, high quality construction and ergonomically good.
recommended if your fed up with the low quality offerings from other sites.

The instructions could be better but what I like about this is the wide temperature range and it can be programmed to a fixed temperature.
This is used for repair and restoration work on older valve and transistor kit.
It has worked really well for me and is a big step up from a fixed wattage iron.
Solid stand and both tip cleaning materials.
The “user interface” has been criticised but I found it perfectly adequate.
I’m very pleased with my purchase.
N’oubliez pas l’adaptateur secteur anglais/franais.

good build quality. Easy to use.
Manuel d’instruction anglais/francais/allemand + notice supplementaire explicative.
Read the reviews. Simply the best soldering iron out there . Heats up in a flash. Don’t use water and sponge, use the copper shavings and the solder end will last you a lifetime!

Works perfectly well and its from the reputable seller. Do not go for the cheap fakes from e*** which are on offer for 50% of the price.
This soldering station is very well made. The iron tip heats up to 310 deg C in 35 seconds and the whole feel of the kit is of a very high quality. The stand works well, as does the cleaning arrangement and sponge. The solder tips stay clean if looked after and the whole soldering experience is much better than with the old cheap kit I have used in the past. Makes soldering a pleasure not a chore!
The real deal . However the coating on the tip has started to come off . I looked after it I promis . Used tip tinner every time. May be my habit of using the wet spunge every time could be thermal shocking it but iv only used it 8 times. Love the stand . If you got antex with silicone wire plus good stand would cost about 55 so think it’s worth the extra for a proper station . Only problem is I can’t find an easy supply of spunges to fi
