Comfort is key during long gaming sessions, and the Cloud III excels in this area. The headset is equipped with plush memory foam ear cushions and a padded headband, providing a comfortable and snug fit that can be worn for hours on end without discomfort. The headset also features a durable aluminum frame and braided cable, ensuring that it can withstand the rigors of competitive gaming.
This review is based on a few hours play time. So far I have not encountered any issues, the product arrives very nicely packaged, is very comfortable to wear and the audio quality is very, very good. Very happy so far.
I really wanted to point out that while the product capabilities say it works on PC, PS4 and PS5 (no Xbox), they’re probably referring to the usage of the usb-powered volume control, as it controls the operating system’s volume settings vs the onboard volume.
However, the headphones themselves use a 3-pole 3.5mm connector, which works just fine when plugged into the bottom of an Xbox Series X|S game pad. This was a consideration when buying the headphones and it wasn’t clear on the product page (or I just missed it), but I bought them anyway as PC gaming was the main use case. However, I’m pleasantly surprised that it comes with this connector and thus will work on the gamepad too!
It’s a good headset, definitely worth buying the headset it’s self is comfortable but the only thing I find not good with it is just the mic it’s self, because I’ll be on party with my mates and they say the mic quality isn’t good.
I bought these for my partner when his previous head set broke. I’ve used this headset a number of times myself and I love how comftable and sound proof they are. They take well too beatings from the cats pushing them off the desk multiple times and the audio and mic quality is amazing. My desk sits next too my partner’s, where im quite literally at arms length and unlike my own headset, if he is not speaking I can’t be picked up in the background unless he starts speaking, even then it relatively quite.
my first wireless headset, and its amazing. I owned a hyperx headset previously but it was wired and i wanted a wireless option for the first time ever and wow is it amazing, no delay, extremely long battery life and sound and mic quality is great. 10/10 would recommend
Other then when laying back and accidentally rolling the volume controls slightly, they have really good range, and the ability to mute the mic from the headphones it very useful. Furthermore the mic quality is slightly worse then the wired counterpart, but still good enough for my use cases, and the lack of wire is very freeing to be able to go get food or move away from the desk without having to take them off continuously.
The mic quality isn’t that great (I was using Sony xh3 before) but the sound and ease is of use makes it worth it. For me the annoying part I guess will be to not know the exact battery life (it has 3 ranges and is indicated by light)
Works seamlessly, no issues at all. Connected without much setup, wireless works to toilet and kitchen. Life is better with wireless headset.
It has good sound quality for both music and games. Mic works well. All around solid pick for headsets – can recommend.
The HyperX Cloud II Gaming Headset is a top-of-the-line headset that offers exceptional sound quality and comfort. As someone who spends a lot of time gaming, I recently invested in this headset and have been thoroughly impressed with its performance.
First off, the sound quality is outstanding. The 7.1 virtual surround sound provides a truly immersive gaming experience, allowing me to hear every detail of the game’s audio. The headset also has a frequency response range of 15Hz-25kHz, which means that it can produce both deep bass and clear high notes.
In addition to its sound quality, the HyperX Cloud II is also incredibly comfortable to wear. The ear cups are made from soft memory foam and covered with leatherette, which allows for extended gaming sessions without any discomfort. The headband is also adjustable, providing a perfect fit for any head size.
Another standout feature of this headset is its detachable noise-canceling microphone. The microphone is flexible and can be adjusted to any position, and the noise-canceling feature ensures that your voice comes through loud and clear without any background noise.
Overall, I have been thoroughly impressed with the HyperX Cloud II Gaming Headset. It provides exceptional sound quality and comfort, making it a great investment for anyone who spends a lot of time gaming or working from home. While it may be on the pricier side compared to other headsets, the quality and performance make it well worth the investment.
Good headset. The mic is a little on the quiet side. Battery life was alright dot didn’t feel like there was 30 hours of life on them after using them when I fully charged them. The audio is clear but I find it to be a bit quieter that the cloud s that I had. The only real problem I have is that the screws kept coming out and wouldn’t stay in afte
Being able to charge with most USB C cables means I can use my laptop charger for this. Great comfort, even after hour long sessions. 10/10 would buy again.
I’ve had this pair of headphones for roughly 4 years now. After thousands of trips moving house, entering dorms, travelling and heavy use daily all the way through quarantine. After dropping it and the cable being run over by my chair wheels a few thousand times. The dongle broke (A year and a bit ago), and Hyper X sent me A REPLACEMENT ONE. I haven’t used the dongle since as I had gotten myself an audio interface so I just have a 3.5mm extension jack plugged into the headphones, but holy smokes this pair of headphones is literally built like a brick. As long as you dont like run over it with a car it should last you years like mine has. Mine has suffered very heavy use so there is a decent bit of wear, the pleather earcups have started to slightly crack on the inside fold about a few weeks ago, however I still have the soft fluffy earcups. (I clean my earcups like once a year lol) A few minor scratches on the metal and that’s basically it. Although recently like the past few weeks, I have heard a sort of pop in the left ear phone which was quite unpleasant (like a small electrical discharge from when you yank a plug out of the socket too fast). Other than that it still functions like how it did on day 1. I will probably buy another pair of these as they’re quite cheap considering their quality, hopefully they’ll still be selling these in a year. o7
EDIT 02/06/2023: DO NOT BUY THESE ANYMORE! When I was looking to buy a replacement a few months ago I took a look at the updated reviews. It seems that HP has bought Hyper X and this headset has been changed. I watched a few videos online as well and it seems that the headset has been ruined. If you are looking to buy a pair it’s probably best to go on ebay and look for sellers who are selling new/unopened. I bought like 3 pairs for around 30-50 because I really like it lol, they’re that good.
Good battery life, sound quality is good for the price, I put 4 stars for SQ mainly cause I have had ones that sound better at this price range but only slightly and considering this is wireless and its only a slight difference it isn’t a big deal, the range is quite good I can get up and walk around in my room with them, I have accidentally broke my current ones nothing to do with the product it was my fault lol, will be ordering a replacement in the future cause I miss them, saves so much money on replacement wires for my current headset too smh overall amazing
After carrying an initial charge from 60 to 100% I’ve been using the headset daily for about 5 weeks now and upon power up the internal voice info provided through the headset is stall saying battery charge level is still 100%. Incredible. Also, the headset is comfy during long gaming stints and the audio is much superior to my old Corsair HS70 headset. Great product.
Having used a cheap pair of USB headphones for a couple of years I decided to treat myself to some higher end ones.
Sound quality is night and day different with bass especially being perfect.
Battery life is also fantastic, I’ve used them for a few hours every day and have maybe had to charge the headphones twice in the 2 months I’ve owned them.
Only slight downside is the microphone isn’t the greatest sounding for the cost of the headphones, but not so bad that people aren’t able to hear you on calls and in games etc.
I have never had an issue with any HyperX headset, the are light and comfortable without being loose, epic sound quality, and insane battery life. I can go for a week sometimes without having to charge them.
Happy with my purchase, the sound quality is good for playing any games. Wireless battery last for ages, as I rarely need to charge them a lot. Good headsets
I used to own a Logitech G930 but the right ear cup started losing sound so it was time for a replacement. I primarily play Call of Duty Warzone but also watch videos and listen to music. This new headset was definitely a good upgrade on my previous. I done some research and these appeared to be highly recommended especially as they come out cheaper than other wireless 7.1 gaming headsets. Sound seems like it has more base than my old headset which is really handy for hearing footsteps in game much more clearer. I would recommend these for anyone who is looking for a comfortable wireless 7.1 gaming headset.
Bought for my son
No complaints from him
Good quality product
Next day delivery on prime
I bought these to replace a set of other brand headphones that the coating on the ear cups was coming off and leaving black bits on my face.
I had my doubts about spending a fair chunk of cash on headphones, but these were well reviewed.
I agree with the reviews that say they are not particularly loud, my old wired ones were definitely louder, but the sound quality is good.
I’ve not used the microphone apart from setting it up in discord, but I like the fact it’s detachable and the mute button is easy to get to, with a visual indicator on the microphone that you’ve muted it.
Hopefully these will last longer than my other brand wired ones.
The wireless dongle is quite large compared to the bluetooth dongle plugged in at the side of it, it would have been nice if these headphones were bluetooth instead of proprietary wireless so they could be used on more devices, but that is what it is.
My son thinks are great, especially the sound and microphone. They seem really comfy as well. No complaints so far!
Great head set. I had a razer pro usb sound card headset and it was awful.
This HyperX headset is great. Charge holds for a long time. Quick to charge. Light but feels we made. With the HyperX App on PC lots of info and settings you can change.
Only thing with this one, I think it’s 2.4ghz Bluetooth or something and this only connects to the USB Bluetooth stick that is provided. I was hoping I could connect to my mobile phone but you can’t. Gutted as it was 150 and can only use on my PC.
Avoid Razor. Get HyperX!
So, lets start from the beggining.
HyperX Cloud II (WIRED)
We used it for 5 years.
we get it in a beauty quality box.
With extra ear pads. 1pair leather, and 1 pair plush.
7.1 option and Stereo sound was awsome. Once one of the usb controller accidently was broke (i dont want to write the details of it), we replaced it. that controller part.
Sadly it wasnt the same anymore.
The replaced wire 7.1 function was strange, when you turned on or off first the voice was muted then turned on and off the 7.1
So if you can try to keep the original controller wire for it.
Reason for changed reduce the cables, and my Mrs used her orwn after hair wash with towel on her head, and the leather give up the fight (you can see on the picture).
so… times change…
(we tried another brand but it wasnt the same confort and same CLEAR voice like what we had with HyperX)
HyperX Cloud II (WIFI)
Same confort as before with the wired one.
first time it was strange i had to download from ms store the “app” for it. but 7.1 and the main things i can controll from that app, plus what is on the headset ofc. No and connection issues, no any box/canned sound. That was realy anoying with another brands.
HyperX Cloud Flight
This one is a littlebit different from a regular HyperX.
Hard plastic Base, with confortable pads. If you used the Cloud II before the this feeling will be stange at the first time but basically its give the same confort.
What is VERY ANOYING about the software for this one.
Cant work with the same ms app like the Cloud II, no.. you must to google out and find the software for it.
When you find the software then its work like a dream.
No option for 7.1 on this product.
You can change the pads anytime if you want because use the same.
Am i HyperX fan?
After my experiences… Yes. i am.
The headphones are very comfy and the sound quality is great. The battery life is pretty good but not amazing.
The most frustrating thing is that you have to use the dongle to connect to your computer. If you want to connect to a different machine, you have to remember to take it with you, and there’s no storage for it.
Noise cancellation isn’t the best, but for me that’s fine as I like to be able to hear the doorbell and any impending danger if possible.
The real amazing thing about this headset is long wear sessions. Recently I did a 3-day online training course which involved wearing them for around 8+ hours a day. I had no issues of discomfort or inconvenience. I also wore them for a 4 hour gaming session in the evening too on one of the days.
All-round amazing headset, not for those who want full cancellation, but great for walking around the house during a training call and wearing for a long session.
Great wireless headset. Sound quality is good but my astro a10 was probably a little bit better to be honest, but I wanted wireless and the sound quality is still reasonably good. The microphone quality is awful but I think that is to be expected from a wireless headset.
Battery life is incredible, this may get worse over time (I have only had it for one week). It is amazing and one of the best things about the headset for sure. 30 hours advertised and I would say it is around 30hours yes.
Build quality is good and is comfortable to wear.
I have not had any connectivity issues or anything like that.
After having turtle beach (which broke) and playstation gold headsets these are so much better, very well made, great sound, easy to hear foot steps and pinpointing which direction things are, the only issue I had was my ears get hot with the leather cups so I bought the velour replacement cups much cooler although they do let in a bit more sound, with a thirty hour battery life you can’t go wrong I’m pleased I decided to buy hyperx cloud 2 wireless headset.
My PC doesn’t have Bluetooth and I’m sick of having bulky headphone cables around my lap when I play.
This headset ticks every box for me, the USB dongle works immediately and you crisp, clear audio with hardly any interference or lag.
They’re so lightweight and have lots of wiggle room to fit on your head. Normally I need headphones on the max setting but with these I play on the 4th click. The max length setting for these is huge! They’d fit anyone.
Good pair of headphones..downside is they only work with playstation and PC not Xbox, I also thought the volume wasnt that loud even at full volume buy that’s not to say that the sound quality is really good so if you love playstation and are sticking to that yeah I’d recommend these
Love it. But even at it’s loudest settings, I feel like it’s still too soft. There’s a significant difference in max volume between this headset and my other headphones.
Also the mic truly isn’t amazing. It’s ok for my needs though.
So first off, the sound. If you like the cloud 2 sound this seems identical. A warm well balanced headset with enough bass to be immersive but not too much, and the highs are there for hearing footsteps and their direction.
I’m using this with the PS5 mostly, and when I first fired up black ops Cold War I immediately wondered what was going on. The explosions sounded awful, drowning out everything around you. It was only later that I thought about disabling the 3D audio in the console settings and wow, that changed everything.
The PS5’s 3D audio is tuned for first party games like demon’s souls, and the cloud 2 wireless sounds fine on that. But black ops has its own sound signature so turn off 3D audio and you’ll love it.
The software on PC is very lacking so there’s no need really to use it at all. If you want to hear your own voice (sidetone) press the mute button for a few seconds to enable.
Holding down the power button for a few seconds enables the fake 7.1, which doesn’t sound too bad actually. It just pushes everything back a little so it sounds quite pleasing.
Comfort is 10 out of 10, with very light clamping force and very plush ear cups. The pleather material does make your ears sweat a little but seals in bass pretty good.
Battery life is superb and the inclusion of a usb c cable is great, as more companies are moving to this now.
Overall it is a little expensive for what you get when you consider the black shark v2 pro is available for the same price, and has more features with a very comprehensive software suite allowing you to tweak everything to your liking. The microphone is ok but as with most headsets, none of them are great but people can understand me online.
The sound quality is amazing, and I love the head set the range is really good and they seem to not need to constantly be on charge. The noise cancelling is amazing and really helps with game immersion. The mic is clear and effective but seems to have an weird issue where turning my headset down also turns my mic down so have have mange alot of my audio via the i game channels rather than my headset.
UPDATE as of 27/08/21
I purchased this on the 04/04/16 and I am still using it to this day.
These are by far the most comfortable headphones I’ve ever used and in terms of the amount spent va the amount used, it’s fair to say I’ve got my moneys worth out of this.
The padding has started to wear now, however, it’s still comfortable and stuck on. I use these 8 hours a day for work currently 5 days a week and then again for when I’m gaming.
My GO TO headphones and if they ever did break, I think I would just buy another pair of the same ones.
===
I purchased these back in April 2016 after my last set of headphones brokedown.
I’m writing the review today because after I stopped gaming for around a year, I’ve gotten back into it. Not just that, but with working from home and taking calls/team meetings, I needed something more reliable than my standard earphones.
Plugged in without the USB soundcard into my laptop and these were good to go.
I forgot how GOOD these sound as the audio is so crisp, the bass so deep, it just gives a more satisfying feeling than listening to audio in earphones!
I’ve been using these for 4 years now and they STILL work fine.
I neglected the USB Cable so it will cut out if it’s moved, but that’s because my little one has been tugging on the wire and I have just kept it coiled up for a while.
Since you can unplug the jack from the USB drivers, you can carry on using it even if the USB cable has stopped working.
Pros:
GREAT sound
DEEP bass
Noise cancelling mic
Very good mic which I’ve had so many compliments for on my gaming sessions
Comes with a USB driver with soundcard built in, great if your PC/laptop’s soundcard is crap
Can be used as 3.5MM Jack OR as USB
Detachable Mic so you can still use as daily headphones
Price is very reasonable for what you get
CONS
Wire with just 3.5MM jack is a little short for my liking (but if you’re going to use the USB cable, it’ll be MORE than long enough).
USB cable wire can wear down over time (but again, this may be my neglect and the way it’s plugged into my PC)
Summary
This may be the best gaming headset I’ve used,
It’s so comfy for long our gaming sessions 7+ hours tested and does not squeeze your ears in any way
The sound quality is great and the option to use the drivers built into the adaptor or not
5 stars
I never leave reviews unless they’re negative, but these headphones are so astoundingly good I went out of my way to log into amazon, find this product again and leave a review. What can I say, they do exactly everything you could possibly want from headphones at this price. I’ve been wearing mine EVERY SINGLE DAY for over 4 years for multiple hours a day.
For gaming? Absolutely excellent. I turn the volume high and can ALWAYS hear the enemy footsteps, even if it’s a Caveira in R6 Siege (the quietest character). I never use the 7.1 surround sound though because it messes up my orientation but the USB to headphone jack is basically an essential for someone like me that has my PC a bit far away from my desk.
For music? Phenomenal. Yes there exist higher quality headphones, you can buy 400+ Senheiser headphones if you’re such an audiophile, but for anyone who’s normal and listens to music on Spotify or YouTube (or even a sneaky illegal pirated .mp3 file) these headphones will play your song loud and clear with a bass too.
For long stretches of time? Fantastic. These headphones feel extraordinarily comfortable on me (my head is normal sized, maybe if you have a megamind head it’s not for you) and last multiple hours before any discomfort. I’d say after about 4 or 5 hours of usage I need to take them off for a while and massage my head and ears a little.
For running? Well… I’ve not only gone running with these but also I’ve done parkour with them. They only came off when doing rolls from large heights. I’m not gonna lie though, there are better products out there if your main goal is running. Apple earphones are by nature lighter and I’m sure there are many bluetooth options that may specialise more. These definitely hold up just fine for running though.
Water damage? I’ve been out running in the rain- and I’m talking London rain. Never caused any hearable or visible damage despite the copious rainfall. I’ve never submerged these headphones though… I wouldn’t push them THAT much.
Have I ever damaged them? Yes actually. One time I left it under my friends coat in a coach journey to Belgium and I sat on it, causing one earmuff to bend outwards at a 45 degree angle. This seemed unfixable until I got home, dismantled them then bent the metallic red connector piece back to shape using a hair dryer and lots of force.
Anyway that’s my review. I promise I’m not being payed by HyperX or whatever, I just really appreciate how fantastic the build quality and attention to detail this product has. If you found this review helpful, press the button below! I spent some time writing this and it would be cool if someone recognised it amid the sea of other reviews. Also… no I am not “Martha” writing this, I’m a younger family member of hers.
Been using this for the last 2 months or so.
Long enough to give it a proper review.
First up packaging is outstanding for a headset in this price range. The headset is boxed with 2 sets of ear cup pads (one pair in velour/microfiber and one in ‘pleather’). There is also the detatchable mic on a very adjustable boom and a padded mesh drawstring bag for (I guess) transporting to LANs etc
The earcups are solid plastic with aluminium backs. The headband has nice soft padding, is of the same pleather as the ear cups. The internal construction of the head band is metal (I’m guessing steel) and the forked ends which hold the ear cups on a pivot are aluminium – the same as the backs of the earcups.
The cord has a beefy braid over the sheathing. The cord is split into 2 sections. From the headset unit, there is a 1m cord that terminates in a 4 pole 3.5mm jack. The other section of cord (aprox 2m) which connects to the USB soundcard to your PC terminates in a standard USB2 male plug.
Overall the build quality impressed me, especially for the price, the corsair vengeance set (which I paid more for) feels like a cheap chinese ebay special by comparison.
I’ve been using the velour ear cup padsones as the reason I bought this headset was that the pleather on my corsair vengeance headset had worn and torn over their 4 year service rubbing against my (only occasionally shaven) face. I’ve been very impressed with the comfort, even when gaming for long sessions. Which is even more impressive as it doesnt mash the arms of my glasses into my face.
I’m guessing that’s where they got the ‘cloud’ name from because they really are very comfy. Head pressure is just right, not too loose so they fall off when you rage quit, but not too tight that your scalp gets numb patches either.
The mic is what you would expect for a little boom mic like this, maybe a tad better – but it does the job of making call outs just fine.
The main event – The sound.
There is no software included or even available for this unit. it uses a generic USB sound device driver (on windows) so the sound EQ you get is entirely governed by the game or media software you are running.
Like bass?
You better.
That’s probably a little glib. They’re by no means a reference set though. The sound is bass dominant, but mids and highs are just as well reproduced maybe favouring the mids. I listen to a lot of old thrash metal, djent, hard rock, punk, ska and it’s all sounded great to me.
Games too have sounded… actually better than ever.
The emulated 7.1 – it’s okay. Just remember it’s NOT 7.1, it just creates the impression of opening up the soundstage. I’ve really enjoyed having the feature for StarWars Battlefront. All the explosions and orchestral arrangements just come alive through this.
But if you need to sound whore with your try-hard pants pulled up all the way to your armpits, then I suggest you turn it off.
Overall.
For the money, I think you will struggle to beat this. Plenty of media sources have said likewise and I have to agree.
I’m VERY happy with my purchase.
Note – You can not use a speaker system that is plugged into your PC’s onboard (or discrete) soundcard while the cloud 2 is plugged into your PC via USB. Your PC has to recognise this as the primary device to work properly. So if you want to use speakers, you gotta unplug it for your PC soundcard to take over.
Might be obvious to some of you, but I thought I’d broken my brand new amp for about 20 minutes when I first came across the issue (Derp)
