The LockBlock and knife set is perfect for parents with little ones running around the kitchen. As each knife is placed inside a knife slot, its blade is held securely by the unique childproof mechanism. Pulling on a knife only increases the force of the grip so knives cannot be simply forced out of the block.
To remove a knife from LockBlock, the release button, situated on either side for left and right-handed operation, needs to be firmly pressed. But due to its position and the force required to press it, only someone with an adult-sized hand can do this. The mechanism inside won’t damage expensive knife blades as it has a smooth rubber surface.

The knives themselves are actually really good. Probably not chef quality (like some dimwit was asking for in another review) but not far off. I do a lot of cooking and use these daily and had no issues using them. They’re really sharp, the handles are comfortable and they’re easy to clean. Happy customer.

Love these knives and the safety feature. Baffled my partner fir a bit, which was very amusing. The mechanism is quite stiff, so little hands don’t have the strength to lift it. Would like to see the same design filled with steak knives, so they too can be secured.

Knives are sharp and the lock feature works. We haven’t tested it or pulled too hard but it serves its purpose to keep kids from pulling knives off the block while helping in the kitchen.

We decided to spend a little more on this Joseph Joseph knife block compared to the other cheaper option and we haven’t been disappointed.
We’ve been using the knives for over a year and they are still in fantastic condition. We hand wash them and have recently purchased the Joseph Joseph knife sharpener to bring it back up to best condition after usual amount of wear and tear.
Beautiful knives and I love the child safety feature on it. Gives me peace of mind with kids in the house. Would recommend them!
Got the knives at a discounted price. Have been looking for some for a while. It’s a shame you can’t turn off the lock feature but totally understand that it would be useful to reduce any accidents.

I liked the safety feature so young for young children it would be very difficult for them to take a knife out pf the holder. The knives are still going strong 2 years later .

The knives are very sharp and are super comfortable in the hand, compared to Global for example.

Really like these knives. A good selection. Very sharp. Feel sturdy and well balanced with a good rubberised grip.
Th only minor downside for me is the safety catch. I’m used to grabbing a knife with one hand an chopping board with the other. Not possible for me now as you need two hands to grab a knife from this set. I’d have preferred it if either it could be turned off or J&J had made the same set without the safety catch feature.
Not an overall game spoiler though and this is the best combination of style, quality and price available on the market for my money. Which is why I’m still giving it 5 stars.

Well made, excellent quality. Knifes come very sharp and have a good selection. The knife block is a bit light so the friction from the locking mechanism can pull it off the counter or make it fall over when retracting one of the knifes.

Ottimi coltelli: le lame tagliano perfettamente e l’impugnatuta comoda anche se si hanno le mani bagnate o umide. Il criterio che ne ha determinato la scelta di acquisto stato il meccanismo di blocco per evitare che i bambini possano prendere i coltelli (fondamentale per chiamare figli piccoli, anche se il ceppo non alla loro portata). Consiglio comunque l’acquisto a tutti.

Un ceppo per coltelli davvero bello. Non inganni il fatto che sia fabbricato con materiale plastico. I coltelli sono molto belli e ben affilati ed il ceppo molto sicuro con la chiusura a pulsante che non consente la fuoriuscita dei coltelli in maniera agevole. Sicuramente l’ideale per chi ha dei bambini.

I do love the knives. The block is only plastic and yes it does lock the knives in place. Would have been very very disappointed if I had paid the full price. In my case what I paid was ok. Still miss my old block and knives.
These do exactly what they are meant to, very shape making them easy to cut up all food, (mind your fingers they cut those easily too) they lookngrear and I love the kids proof lock, easy to use for bigger hand but my children can’t get them out.

Ha un sistema di bloccaggio per i coltelli, non escono dal ceppo se non si spinge uno dei due bottoni verdi ai lati (cosa davvero utile per stare tranquilli con dei bambini in giro)
Esteticamente bellissimo, i coltelli sono ben bilanciati, di ottima qualit (premetto che non l’ho ancora usato ma si vede che sono dei signori coltelli e poi su questa marca vado ad occhi chiusi)…
L’unica cosa che mi ha delusa stato ricevere il pacco senza una protezione ulteriore, arrivato nel suo packaging originale con l’adesivo del corriere e basta… nonostante questo nn si rovinato!

These knives are very sharp. I am really happy with the high quality construction. The handles are a soft rubber which feels natural in the hand. Each knife is color coated, but you can’t see the color when you are looking at the knife set from a distance. The locking mechanism works very well and you can pick up the entire knife set when pulling on a locked knife.
Love the safety feature and the knives are good quality. Was surprised that the knives that came with it were really nice. You can even use the block for your own favourite knives.
(I have seen the block sold without knives on amazon if you prefers your own knives )
his is great. my kid no longer grabs at the knives since he cant get to em. dont forget to tell your visitors about the lock or else they’ll take the whole block with em.
Wir haben den messerblock schon seit lngerem im Gebrauch. Der Block an sich ist toll. Die Kinder kommen nicht an die Messer dran. Nur leider mssen wir ziemlich oft nach schrfen. Hatte gedacht, dass die Messer lnger scharf bleibe

I bought them because my 4yr old grandaughter is at my house during the week while her mother is at work and I’m always wary of the danger that having sharp objects within easy reach poses.
I don’t have to worry about her getting hold of my sharp knives any more. Perfect!
Love these knives, first decent set i have bought, perfect for having my 2 year old around who is into absolutely everything, tested myself with full force and barely moved so no change of my toddler getting them out! I paid a brilliant price on Black Friday for them, not sure i would pay the current price but all the same they are brilliant items!

Expensive but good quality knives. However, looks like a fault in the design. Small knife doesn’t lock in after being taken out a few times. Know this is a fault because another purchaser wrote to me to ask if l was having the same problem. Not good enough for the price paid.

We have two small children and plan on having more. When we decided to get a new set of knives the idea of a childproof set was definitely a huge selling point. I love these knives. The child proof feature works very well. If the kives are dirty they do slip a little but it’s not hard to keep them clean. They came out of the box very sharp, and I use every single knife. Occasionally I feel like some knife sets have a odd knive in the mix, this set doesn’t. The only negative comment I would give these, is the block is a bit tall. Between the height of the block and the shallow angle, I cannot get the longer knives out when it’s underneath my cabinets. The block and knives fit comfortably underneath my cabinets I just cannot remove a big knife unless I tip the block or slide it out. I am not sure if my cabinets are low or if the block is tall. Either way it’s not a big enough issue to remove a star. I would definitely recommend them.

Really happy with this purchase. Handles are comfortable, knives feel well balanced and the knife block is aesthetically more modern than the wooden one I had previously. I did feel that although the blades were sharp they were of as sharp as I had expected. Great value for money would recommend.
Nice, sturdy and very sharp, the only minus for me is the lock, which while cooking is a real pain. If you don’t need the locking, then definitely buy them without the mechanism!
