A needy item that you should have in your home, you need this item. Easy to install.

Needed to replace a broken unit. Ordered same day delivery.
This unit comes with batteries included three AA sized alkaline batteries.
    Full instructions included.
Simple to wall mount by securing the backing plate then sliding the unit onto the plate. Safety pop ups will prevent the unit being fully seated if batteries are not present. Fixing screws and wall plugs are included as well.
Overall a great unit for a great price. Every household with a gas appliance needs one.

    Good Alarm

We already had one of these, in the kitchen. It woke us up when our gas heating malfunctioned. I believe it saved our lives so I bought another 2 for other rooms. Highly recommend.

I love my carbon monoxide alarm. I haven’t died so far and I’m hoping for many years of not dying. However, it could just be coincidence that I haven’t died AND the alarm hasn’t gone off. I tested the noise and it definitely makes a noise but it’s not clear if that means that the alarm works or just the noise.
If you think logically, should the alarm fail I’m hardly going to be in a position to write a new review.
Hope that clears up any ambiguous thoughts you have on the subject of being warned about your potential demise.

My chimney sweep strongly recommended I get a CO alarm, so I got this one.

When it’s tested, it’s loud – loud enough to wake me up, even if I’m in the next room (and hopefully before CO inhalation has rendered me comatose).

It’s got a little light that flashes periodically to reassure me that it’s on and monitoring the air. So far, the battery has lasted 18 months. Is it working? Without deliberately spiking my stove and ventilation, which would seem a bit foolish, or investing in a tank of CO (Amazon doesn’t sell it; I checked), it’s very hard to tell!

At any rate, the blinking light is reassuring…

Have had this type before and found it to be good, got this one to go next to my boiler.
Simple to use, just pop the batteries in and that’s it.
It can be wall mounted or placed on a shelf etc as suitable.

Simple and idiot proof (well an idiot can always prove this statement wrong) but if you’re after a simple carbon monoxide detector, and every home should have one, then this is a neat little solution.

We bought this as a safety measure in case of carbon monoxide leaks. Our gas boiler is reasonably new though and working OK so it’s hard to know how good any monitor is until an emergency arises. On test it beeps OK and presumably would do so if there was a problem with carbon monoxide. Good price and reviews when we bought it.

Saved my life and my animals. Went off soooo loud in middle of night. You’d certainly hear it! And it never stopped even outside! Alert was by faulty boiler. Thank you so so much! It continues to flash stably as should now boiler fixed. Thank you well worth.

When I read the details on this item, it said 10 years, when I got the product, it said on the box 7 years, however, when I took the product out of the box it said 10 years and it also included batteries which on the box it stated no batteries included. There is space on the bottom of the item to put in the date when bought. Batteries a bit fiddly to fit in, but got there in the end. Instructions to tell you how to test. There are screws etc provided if you want to install, but I just sat mine up high on the top of units, which is where the previous ones were, so didn’t need to use the screws

These were alarms for different areas of the house after we installed additional appliances. The first alarms we bought, about two years ago (same make and model) are still going strong. Batteries included have a good long life. Very easy to set up and install. Delighted.

This is in the front room near the gas fire. It started bleeping loudly within a few minutes of the gas fire being lit. The gas engineer visited and confirmed the chimney was blocked. The chimney sweep removed 3 sacks full of twigs. So this product genuinely saved my life. An absolute must.

I purchased two units to replace ones that were approaching the end of their design life (7 years).
These proved simple to install (simply insert the batteries) and I have one wall mounted and one free standing on a cupboard.
When tested the alarm is reassuringly loud without disturbing the neighbours.

  16. KathlenMulvany says:

Easy to install, small, discreet. I believe it sets of a small alarm early evening (a little tune!) but haven’t identified it as coming from here yet – maybe to prove it’s working? Similar model to the one it was replacing and that had lasted over 10 years so very good value.

We actually did have a small amount of carbon monoxide in our house – caused by using a self-cleaning cycle on an embarrassingly dirty oven – and the alarm was able to pick it up. We called the emergency line to be sure it wasn’t anything more serious, and he measured the carbon monoxide levels, which turned out to be really really low, so I was impressed that the alarm picked this up.

This was a direct replacement for an existing alarm that had reached EOL, so fitting was just taking one off and putting this in its place on the same screws. A quick test and it was all good to go for another 5 – 7 years of protection.

This alarm has most likely saved my parents lives today. It started alarming and they were able to turn off the fire and call the emergency gas line who came out and made the house safe. I’m certain without this alarm they would have been unaware and sat with the fumes silently killing them . 5 stars from me because it definitely works!

  46. Anonymous says:

Good, nice pitched sound for if it does alert you to a problem as tested sound to make sure works.
Put it in attic as that’s where boiler is and with attic lid shut can hear it downstairs if it was to alert you of a problem.

  47. Anonymous says:

I was warned against some of the cheaper alarms, as they tend to either not go off when needed or go off all the time when not needed. This is the industry standard, apparently.

I bought this to replace another “sealed battery” detector that was provided 4 years ago when our wood-burning stove was installed. One expects/hopes this kind of detector to last 10 years, like smoke alarms.

This KIDDE CO detector inspires confidence – the bulb which flashes once a minute shows it is still working. And the sound when you press to test is LOUD. It looks and feels robust. Particularly the user CAN CHANGE THE BATTERIES! Liberating, and so one doesn’t have to spend another 13 or 15 to replace it, just replace the 3 x AA batteries at a cost ~3 (assuming you bought a bulk pack, like 12 cells).

Well done KIDDE! (I’m not connected with them except for this purchase BTW)

I was advised to install a carbon monoxide detector when I had my CH boiler serviced. I chose this one because it appeared to do all I needed and was relatively inexpensive. It arrived very quickly, the instructions were clear and it didn’t need any fixing as it could be placed on a set of bookshelves. There are however fixings to enable it to be fixed to a wall if required. Batteries were supplied so we were up and running in no time. There is a test button to check that the alarm is functioning and that the batteries are OK which I have tried a couple of times. The alarm sound is sufficiently loud and piercing as to be effective although I hope not to hear it again until its nest test! Would thoroughly recommend.
