Sturdy little lamp. Impressed by quality. Does all it says in description. Arrived very quickly. In fantastic condition.
I bought this light for a camping trip I had a couple of weeks ago.
Positives – the brightness, the different light settings (warm light, bright light, etc). I particularly liked being able to dim the light. The light is a fairly small size and convenient to carry.
Negatives – I carried this in a bag but the on button was accidentally pressed and came on in the bag. The light got very hot – it may have been on for a few hours. In future I will need to take the batteries out and replace them after carrying the light in a bag. I think it would be better if the switch was a different design.
Ridiculously bright it’s absolutely perfect for camping. We never took the top off because then it would have been blinding. Have also used it for close up work like sewing and painting.
Love the really bright option which turns night into day or! Geat warm glow setting for calmer lighting. Once you’ve selected the light option you want and it’s been on for say half a minute the next time you press the button it switches off rather than pressing through all the options. Simple to use and feels robust.
Throws out great light when sitting outside the tent. heavy enough with batteries fitted. only used on a two night trip so can’t comment on battery life yet.
I know it sounds ridiculous but i really wanted a less bright setting on this. The first setting is incredibly bright, great for walking around in the middle of the dark, the second setting is a much warmer light and great to light the tent and doesnt dazzel the eyes but the 3rd setting to me seemed exactly like the first setting. its supposed to be a combination of the two but just seems soo bright! i really wanted a dim setting which i could leave on overnight so that if the kids woke up they could see where they were and wouldnt freak out. this lantern doesnt have this kind of setting which is a shame
Can not wait to go camping with this lamp it’s absolutely good, really bright for when we go on our walk/fishing and when we playing monopoly at night just the right size, and a little dime light for in the tent thank Can’t wait to use it! Would recommend this!
I’ve only just got this lamp it’s very bright and also has a dimmable setting plus a flashing setting I suppose for a distress call or an alert.
The batteries are easy to put in and the company who sell them send you an email telling you how,if you can’t put the batteries in then campings not for you stay home and save us all hassle.
It’s pretty sturdy while being lightweight.
The batteries are D type you will need 3 they are not supplied so they will set you back another 6 or so.
I’ve know idea how long they last having just opened set up the lamp.

I bought this lamp for use in my shed, I’m extremely pleased with it. The. Seller was helpful and sent instructions on how to install the batteries which I found really useful. It’s a good bright light and I can either hang up or move to where I need it!
Was looking for a decent light to take into a large tent when camping. We’ve used electric hookup in the past and I really wanted something to match that. I was very skeptical that a battery powered device could do that but without electric this year I had to take a chance. We havn’t taken it camping yet but I have used it in a room with all curtains and doors shut after dark and it’s brightness is very impressive. I think someone mentioned it’s on a part with a 60w light bulb and I’d say that’s pretty accurate. No idea how long the batteries will last yet but it will only be used around 1-2 hours a day I hope to get 1-2 weeks out of it.
Small but nice and bright. Used in a large six man tent, lit tent up well. Used Amazon batteries over four nights and still bright. After initial usage I would recommend this lantern, hopefully it will stand the test of time.
For those who have a big camping tent it is the perfect choice. The light is very bright, it feels close to your home ceiling light. It’s a bit heavy with the batteries but this is not a problem if you don’t have to walk around with it and you keep it at a certain position. The dimmable option gives you alternatives and the changing between warm and cool makes it perfect!
I bought this one to replace a previous version (Same make but 300 lumin) as the batteries had leaked. Very similar in looks and operation apart from this one is dimmable and has more modes. The base, like the previous version, is still a little bit fiddly to refit after installing batteries, but much better than the original due to the inclusion of a locating pin. (Fiddly but not difficult) It still uses 3x D cell batteries which on the previous version easily lasted for the entirety of any of my fishing trips without running out. This version has more than 3 x the output and is far brighter, to a point that it actually hurts your eyes on full brightness. (Soft, warm light mode is better for reducing this) I can’t comment on battery life yet as I’ve only used this once up to now, but I had it on maximum brightness for 3 hours on a fishing trip with no deterioration yet. Carrying handle is better than the original as it is rougher (non-slip, textured) and easier to grip. The hanging hook is also much improved and incorporates a retaining clip so it can’t drop off when swinging in the wind. Also this one has lots of rubberised material on it so should be quite durable. I’m very happy with this purchase and I got this on a lightning deal, a real bargain.
What a lamp this is…might be a small lamp but packs a punch as far as brightness goes. Has 2 options of light and both are bright. Would recommend product..ab fab!..also super fast delivery.
Bought following four power cuts in four days. Read the reviews first then ordered. A lot of the reviews seem to be written by purchasers who are not very practical. The batteries are easy to fit and there was no difficulty closing the case. There is no flashing green light mentioned in several reviews. Simply press the button and the light comes on in daylight mode – very bright. Push and hold the button in and the light will gradually dim down to the required level. Pressing and releasing the button scrolls through the different lighting modes. All in all an ideal emergency lantern. I am not a camper, but I would have thought this lantern would be ideal for use in a tent. I use Varta D cells which have a ten year shelf life. Fit and forget until the next power cut. A good buy for the money. Re reading the reviews, I think the annoying flashing green light mentioned in several reviews may be a feature of the more expensive rechargeable version, which would not be suitable as an emergency/standby light.
I haven’t used this on camping trip yet but it lights up and darkened room very easily. I also like the fact it has a warmer light setting which is easier on the eyes and a bit more like a traditional bulb or candle light. Overall I’m very impressed!
I was really amazed to see how a tiny little lantern can be that bright. It is really 1000 Lumen.
Pros: Small but very sturdy plastic and rubber unit approx 19 cm high and 9cm wide. The top opaque part is approx 7cm and the bottom battery housing approx 10 cm and 1 cm bulb in between. With 3 large cells (D6) it becomes very stable even in windy weather. It is closed from all sides so it does seem like water proof. Brightness- it is amazing that at 1 meter height it illuminated brightly at least 5 meter radius and at 2.5 meter height it illuminated brightly 10 meter radius. On./Off/Mode selector button is on the front making it easier. The opaque part can be taken off to use as naked bulb- making it even more brighter. Both ends have handle/hook, one side big handle to hold in hand or hang and other end small hook to just hang.
Cons: More of a caution rather than an issue. When closing the battery lid (at the bottom) you go to put the lid in certain way on the middle axis.
Our outside light has broken and with the present situation can’t get it fixed so decided to buy this lantern. It’s great, nice and compact and very bright.
Bought this after reading many a favourable review, and I have to admit, I have not been disappointed. Now, firstly, what a lot of people complain about, is the insertion of the batteries, now I can see that this can be an issue, but I would tell people to read the instructions before they attempt this, in fact this must be an issue for the lantern, as the company sent me an email to explain the proper way to insert the batteries, I figured this out without much isse, but I thought It was good that the company saw fit to send out instructions to all the buyers.
Secondly the light itself, it’s good, I really won’t complain, the highest setting, is great, even the yellow light setting, not to my taste, but I can see the advantage , maybe in a tent.
It’s a small rather compact light as well, I use AA battery adapters, which contain two AA batteries in a D cell case, it saves on buying D cell batteries, which are generally more expensive. I got these adapters from Fleebay, for a few quid, job sorted.
Overall I would recommend.
This was delivered much faster than I thought. Very bright very light easy to use. Several follow-up emails from the company making sure that I knew how to use the product and that I wasn’t having any problems which was excellent service although it’s so easy to use I didn’t think it was particularly necessary but nice to receive. All in all an excellent product of an excellent service.

Good sturdy lamp I think it will do great for camping I had it on for over 40hrs on full power and still giving off enough light to light a room, uses 3 D batteries . Aftersales excellent I had a small issue with another style of lamp and they resolved the issue with one phone call. Thanks guys
Got this for my BBQ shed and what a fantastic lantern it is.. I put a small hook on my wooden BBQ shed where I can hang it and it does the trick. My friends when I invited them for an evening BBQ (in winter) were impressed by the size and brightness. While Is bright enough I am thinking of getting a second one so as to provide light from all angles during my evening BBQs.. While is too early to talk about battery life I did not notice any degradation the few times I used it so it more than good enough for what I want it for ..
This light far exceeded my expectations. It is really bright with 4 handy settings. I loved it so much I purchased a second one. Great for when the Electricity went off in storm Ciara and Dennis. The batteries are easy to install – just make sure the middle connection lines up and presto twist to seal.
This is great . Fantastic light for brightness and choices. Use in the shed and garden. Used recently for fitting a new tap . Light great for those small dark places. Of course the tap leaked so light got wet but not a problem.
Found it difficult initially to install batteries as my hands were not strong enough but managed it eventually.
Excellent light and find the low light is sufficient when I let the dog out after dark.
If there is a power cut I am sure the light on full will be more than adequate.
The problem with LED lamps is that they create a bright spot source of light that often dazzles. This model is pretty good though. The adjustment to dim the light helps too. I found that the lower colour temperature lighting was best for reading and general use with the full brightness of both led systems being a little too bright.
The usage of batteries is important to me for power cuts, I am unable to keep a torch permanently plugged in. So replacement batteries are perfect.
Nice unit with good light output. It has a led bulb which I would say cannot be replaced so let’s hope it last a long time. The battery insertion is easy enough. A good item and will be most suitable for camping or power cuts.
An excellent lantern for around the house, in the garden or great outdoors camping. This one is powered by three D cell batteries, not included. You can use any D cell rechargeable or ready charged disposables. The lantern is fairly light although it seems quite robust and well made. It is very bright at 1000 lumens, and it does seem to achieve this. There are four settings selected by repeated presses of the button on the side. Bright white, Warm white ( a light amber, useful for in a tent or small room as its more comfortable) All LEDs on (bright white plus the warm white, and flashing for a possible warning signal. The bright white and warm white settings are dimmable.
Unlike one reviewer has stated, you do NOT have to cycle through the settings to turn it off. Once it has been on a setting for a few seconds, one press of the button turns it off. The hanging handle is solid enough and there is a small folding hook so that it can be hung from the base as well. The opaque shade can be removed with a quick twist to allow uninterrupted light from the clear dome which protects the multiple LEDs.
It can be fiddly to remove and refit the battery cover on the base, not too much of a concern though.
The LEDs last the lifetime of the lamp. I have never had one go as they last for thousands of hours, well beyond average or heavy use. Battery life, like all LED products, is very good running for hours on a fresh set. This of course depends on the quality of your batteries.
All in , an excellent buy. Useful for power cuts, evenings in the garden, great camping light in or out of the tent (no fire risk) Fishing or just for the shed. This battery one is a great price as the latest one has built in rechargeables but at greater cost.
Exceptionally bright lamp that you can change in shade slightly.
The blue light filter gives an easy glow that is great for reading as it’s not too offensive.
Great battery life although has a little bit of weight to it when batteries are in, would still say it is lightweight for what it is though.
All in all, very happy with this and would highly recommend it!
Used these in a Treehouse for 3 nights and it was great. We needed to replace the Duracell batteries we had on the third night as it wasn’t as bright any more, but still worked. We also had it next to the hottub and it did get wet under the base with no issues.
We might buy an other one as it is really great.
The first time this got turned on I thought I’d gone blind, it is very bright.
purchased for use in a greenhouse, works well and is a great stopgap till we can get mains electric plumbed in.
Great light with good battery. Very versatile as you can choose between soft tone and white light. It also has a dimming feature. Have used while camping in a large 5 person tent and we did not need any additional lanterns. Have also used during a power cut and it easily lit out living room. Highly recommend.
his camping light is small, light and very bright, unlike an awful lot of other camping lanterns, some a lot more expensive. highly recommended! I’ve only given ‘battery life’ 3 stars as I haven’t used it enough to test the battery life It may be that it deserves 5 stars, but I won’t be able to answer that until I go camping again next year.
I was late loading batteries several weeks after purchase but I remembered that one should turn the lamp upside down to load the batteries. The brightness when I turned it on was amazing and it will do perfectly for power failures during the winter.
Had a few lanterns with built in batteries but batteries do not last (about two years regular use), finally found one with separate batteries. It takes three D cells, I have 6 rechargeable batteries so I can rotate them and replace them when they stop taking charge. The LED’s always last longer that the inbuilt batteries so this is perfect and having a replaceable battery means that in effect you are never without light. Replace – recharge the old set – replace again.
Love the way you can dim these, they have different settings so you can have a brighter whiter light or change to a more yellow light. Really lights up our tent well when on full. We have loved so much we bought 3.
Super bright light, will hang up or use on a table or to carry, gave off very bright light in our tent, it has a dim option also. The downside is it takes a bit of a fight to get the base back on when you insert the batteries. Overall so good we bought another one, excellent for use camping or in home for power cuts.
This lantern does not now work as the batteries are drained by just leaving if standing. I was mistaken about the lantern draining the batteries. The fault was with the batteries not the lantern which now works well giving a bright light.
At 1000 Lumen this lamp is very bright at max. setting (unlike many others). It has 4 light settings (white, yellow tungsten, both combined, or flashing). Robustly constructed & thoughtful design (e.g. can be hung up from either end, with or without shade). Just what I need for camping and using in my garden shed. After inserting the batteries (not included) it can be a bit fiddly getting the cover back on, until you get the hang of it – look out for the alignment notch on the lid and hold lid down firmly while twisting shut). Remains to be seen how it stands up to the rigours of camping and if the batteries last a decent length of time. Delivered in 24hrs via “Prime” & very satisfied with the purchase.
I bought two of these after experiencing a long power cut and realising I could not read my book as a distraction while waiting for it to be restored. The brightness of the lamp is perfect and it can be switched down to provide and ambient light for safety. They are small enough to store easily as well, definitely a good buy as far as I am concerned.
The camping light performs as well as it looks, and its brightest setting is very good for its small size. The instructions tell you that the single button is used to cycle between the four modes, but omit to say that holding the button in a mode gives you a continuous range of brightness within the mode (release the button when it is bright enough). Some reviewers don’t seem to have realised that.
A lot of camping lights rely on a single powerful LED that is then reflected out off a shiny cone to give a balanced beam, they’re no good, no matter how bright you turn them up the tent always seems dark, and it’s because that single pin prick of super bright light blinds you to everything else, it’s like driving at night with someone on full beams coming towards you, there’s plenty of light around but the contrast is too much and you can’t see anything in the shadows. This is much better, a choice of colours ( the amber is spot on for a relaxing evening ), the light is much more diffused, and, you can dim them down as well which is great in a confined space like a tent, coupled with the fact it’s waterproof, lighter and smaller than most camping lanterns, this is spot on, over the moon with it, from a very experienced camper who’s picky about his kit.
Living in area where the wind only has to blow to cause a power cut, I needed a replacement for the LED lantern that we had had for some years. This product just shows how LEDs have come on in terms of brightness. Even on the lowest setting of 4 LEDs giving an amber tinged glow, it is still sufficient to light a room up. I can’t comment on battery life yet as I have not had to use it for anything like continuous stretch.
We want to keep this lamp in our home to use in the event of a break in the electricity supply. We sometimes have breakdowns in severe weather conditions and it will be a great comfort to know that we will have emergency lighting without having to depend on candle light.
The lamp is well made with excellent light output of 1000 cool lumens. I’ve used only for a short period but am so impressed that I’ve bought another and will buy more. Same body as a previous 300 lumen lamp which was more expensive.ade
I am an OAP and needed a safe lantern rather than candles when I had an electricity cut. This lamp is amazing. Can carry it anywhere and different lights from dim to very bright. This product is well made and I would recommend. Needs 3 LR20 batteries.
Living in the country street lights are unheard of and now the early dark nights are upon us, I use the lights in the garden, drive, playing ball with the dogs etc. The lights are excellent, sturdy and well made. Not sure how long the batteries will last but so far so good. I am thinking of buying more of them to add to the 2 already.
I bought this in February 2018 and have taken it camping three times now, in both the summer heatwave we had this year, and in torrential rainduring Storm Callum.. It’s a brillaint little lamp. I can’t square the description in some of the review with the lamp I have, so I suspect mine is later model. Single big on/off button which is easy to find in the dark, let’s the lamp turn on, then tuns it from bright to dim, then turns it off. I found the bright setting useful outside the tent, and the dim setting (which is still fairly bright) fine for inside. The brightness far exceeds other lanterns I’ve bought over the years. It’s faily lightweight – most of the weiht comes from the batteries – and I could hang it from the inner of my tent easily. I share the gripe of some reviews that the base can be tricky to replace once you change batteries.but that is my only criticism of this otherwise excellent lantern.
This is probably one of the best lanterns I have ever bought. It’s very sturdy and can be used in a few ways. I live in a remote area and get quite a lot of powercuts. I found it bright enough to be able to see what I was doing but you would need other forms of lighting to help brighten the whole room. The dimmer setting is a great function to use in a child’s room as a nightlight in a power cut.
The casing is robust and it seems to be water tight.
I cannot comment on the battery life as I haven’t used it yet
The best I’ve bought for the price
It makes the inside of your tent as light as your room at home – though I did wonder whether the amount of light emitting through my tent fabric was an annoyance to neighbouring campers who retired earlier than me.
The makers recommend suspending the lantern upside down if you’re going to hang it up, there’s a little hook folded into the base for this.
Has a nice rubberised feel.
It does not come with batteries and takes three ‘D’ ones that are sold in pairs, so you end up with an unused one.
A tiny annoyance is that it doesn’t switch off with one press of the button, you have to go through a sequence of dim setting and then flashing setting first.
Very pleased with this, much brighter than I thought it would be for a battery powered light. It’s certainly better than my old Camping Gaz lights which are a bit noisy.
As another reviewer said, it’s probably like a 50-60w light bulb.
So impressed, that I have just ordered another one whilst they are available.
Got this for use in my shed as I’ve just tidied it out, put up a few shelves and made a workspace. Have say it’s excellent, throws off a lot of light when fully on and just enough on the low power setting. I’ll be taking it on camping trips as well and it appears to be really sturdy and very well made… Pleased with this and an excellent price too.. Thank you
This is a brilliant little portable lantern! My 6 year old son asked for it for Christmas and now has it hanging off his bunk bed! The different settings are great and I will be buying another one for myself. The light would be perfect for camping or in a power cut!
What a fantastic little lantern. Several settings, lovely light, ideal for power shortages that may be coming this winter. Very handy to have ready for use, uses 3 D batteries no supplied with lantern. You can remove the diffuser to make even brighter light. I really pleased with this purchase.
I bought this for power outages. It has however, proven to be a good little all-rounder. I just love that green indicator light that permanently blinks every three seconds when the unit is turned off, to alert you of it’s location in the dark and reminding you that there is power available (That incidentally, burns red when the batteries run low. Thus, I use rechargeables) Job’s a good ‘n’.
Got this for my garage so I can see during the dark winter mornings and evenings – its great, the best part is the dull green flashing button which means you can easily locate it in the dark to turn it on (when the flash stops). Not sure if you can turn off this flash – I love the feature but it would be v annoying in a tent. Its much brighter than any similar lights we’ve had and also quite light and portable if I need to pop into the garden. Highly recommend!
Initally bought one for ourselves. Having used it, we re-equipped the entire Guide Unit with them.
Fantastic output (in three hues) and brilliant battery life. The sole niggle is the flashing green power button. Yes, you can find the lamp in the dark. But once you want to sleep – lay the thing on its side with the button downwards.
Does exactly what it says on the tin – very bright camping lantern with three brightness modes, we use the natural (yellow) light one, the brightest is actually difficult to look at! It’s very sturdy, can be hung upside down using the built-in caribiner. As others have mentioned, once the batteries are in, the on/off button flashes brightly every now and then so you can find it in the dark so if it’s in the room you’re sleeping in, you need to cover this or turn it around.
I use this as a loft light, and it worked fine for me while laying loft flooring (though it would have been easy enough to run a mains light up there. As it is only used for occasional storage, more is not really needed. It is bright enough to see easily by, and obviously portable. Waterproofing has not been tested, naturally…
“Oh my life”. Is what my friends exclaimed as they shielded their retinas from my new lantern.
I can only explain this as an incredibly bright light. Most people claim their lamps are XX Lumens, but this must be close to it’s actual claim. Even my “tactical” torch struggles to light an area up as well.
The lamp can be operated in a few modes – Burning eyes, Soft light, warm glow and epilepsy mode. The diffuser can also be removed on top to cast the light in a wider pattern, but you probably want to keep the top on.
The handle is magnetic so doesn’t hang lose and keep clanking into the lantern, and can be used to hang upright, or use another small inset hook on the base to hang upside down. it’s nice and weighty, but not too heavy to hang from a standard tent roof (The bottom clip is designed for this very purpose)
Oddly one evening the battery compartment got warm when it was in it’s box. Re-seating the batteries stopped this from happening again but it was a little concerning. The battery compartment can also be a bit fiddly -especially in the dark, and you will want to make sure it’s really tightened properly to ensure it remains rain proof. I have also used this in the rain with no obvious side effects.
This was definitely worth the money and left my friends envious of their rubbish choices in lanterns. I have used it several times now, but with it being LED I can’t comment on battery life as it will just suddenly die. It takes 3 D batteries.
My only complaint is that the power button blinks green every few seconds. Fantastic for finding it in a dark tent, not so much for trying to sleep. Bring some electricians tape and mask it over!
These puppies are the real deal. Others have described is as a 60w light bulb and that’s maybe pushing it a bit, they are certainly my brighter than a 40w. Say 50w then.
The battery case is a little fiddly, but honestly nowhere near as difficult as others have indicated; there’s a little rod that lines up (and can only.line up one way), then push the two together and twist. Easy-peasy!
They feel very sturdy and and quite able to handle the inevitable bump and bruises of outdoor life. Battery life (rated, not yet tested) is great and with a hook both end they are made for camping.
The light has four modes: Daylight white, warm white, full bright and blinking. The light is not dimmable, but the warm white is much lower output (and lasts longer on the battery) so is a decent alternative. Personally I’m not sure why they’ve bothered with the daylight white. Just give us full and half light, blinking if you must, but not sure I need two versions of very bright.
So why not 5 stars? Well, while the blinking green LED makes it easy to find the light at night, it blinks so brightly you’ll see it through your eye-popping in the darkest of night. I would be great if it could be turned off (press and hold, perhaps).
Other than than the price performance ratio on the bad boys is fantastic and I would recommend them to any camper.
Bought two and now returned to buy a third.
We bought this lamp in case of power cuts, which happen all too frequently out here in “the sticks”. Inserting the batteries is fairly straightforward as is turning it on via the button. There is a LED behind the button which flashes every few seconds to facilitate finding the lantern and button in the dark. The flashing LED is somewhat annoying, but I may change my mind in the case of a night time power cut / zombie apocalypse. There were instructions on how to insert the batteries, but no instructions for operation. However, it is not exactly difficult to work out: pressing the button gives various modes. First press gives daylight white illumination, second gives a warmer light, a bit like an old incandescent bulb. Third press is another white illumination. Forth press gives a flashing light, presumably for attracting attention / UFO’s ?. On each setting, holding the button results in the light level ramping up and down, when the desired light level is achieved, release the button. The lantern does not have a memory, so when turned off, you may need to set the desired light level. 1000 lumens is very bright and staring straight at the LED’s will temporarily leave a white patch scorched onto your retina, so probably best not to stare at it for too long :-). It is capable of illuminating our 22ft lounge to a reasonable brightness. I believe it can run continuously for up to 25 hours, depending on which mode and brightness is selected. So whichever mode is selected, it could see you through several nights (unless you happen to live at the North Pole, ).
Sooner or later, some maniac will accidentally dig up the power line with a JCB, Then we will be glad we bought this lantern.
Decent quality item. Sturdy unit which you can hang from top or bottom. Easy to install batteries
Has 3 lighting options. Full, half and SOS/flashing. The on button flashes green when not in use. Probably useful for finding in the dark but may be annoying in tent if sleeping – no obvious way to disable that. First camping trip coming up, we’ll see how the batteries last.
Good light, we’ve been using it during the summer evenings on an unlit patio. It gives us a nice amount of light to socialise with, but it’s not bright enough to read by!
Theres not a huge different between the 2 light settings, the flashing setting is a bit annoying (you have to go through all the light settings in order to turn it off).
To get the best from the light you need to hang it above you, we started with it on the table, but it shines more downward than outward.
For the money (about 13) not a bad light, we haven’t used it enough to know how quickly it uses up the batteries – if it is excessive I’ll invest in some rechargeables.

Absolutely brilliant LED lantern. This is the second one I’ve purchased, after liking the first one so much. Solidly build, and feels like it will last. Mainly used for camping – so much better than the old gas lamps I grew up with. Lantern has three main settings – full brightness, lower brightness, and flashing. Takes large “D” size batteries, so should last a while (not changed the batteries yet!). After camping I leave this in our airing cupboard in case of power outages. Highly recommended.
Jeez this lantern is bright. It has 3 modes – bright, extremely bright, and strobing. Goodness knows why you would want this in strobe mode…..unless you wanted to recreate a 70’s disco in your tent. Its very easy to put together, just look out for the + or – printed on the plastic inside the case when inserting the batteries. Its quite compact, not heavy, and can hang upside down from a hook in the base. Good price and excellent for camping, etc.
Ultra bright – they’re not kidding… I never knew/expected that an LED lantern could be this bright, and if I am carrying the lantern (as opposed to hanging it on a fence, etc) I always use it in ‘dimmed’ mode (eg 50%).
The lantern is definitely waterproof, and you can easily hang it on a fence in torrential rain, and it just shrugs off the water.
The only reason that I am giving this lantern 4/5 stars (instead of 5/5) is that we have found it to be a little bit tricky to operate if you have badly arthritic hands (it’s not the biggest power button, and it is quite stiff to use too). Replacing the batteries with arthritic hands is nigh-on impossible (it’s to do with the waterproofing, it seals up very tightly).
These lanterns are ridiculously bright. Took a couple camping with me, nearly lit up the whole camp site. They have 3 settings, dim, bright, and flash/SOS. Have a handy hook on them to hang them up on a gazebo or inside a tent. Even after camping they have a great use. keep one in my bedroom for power cut scenarios and seems to light up rooms better than light fittings. If you looking for a bright lantern for camping or a general bright lantern this is the one for you!
PLUS POINTS:
* Well built for the price
* Is really bright or really really bright.
MINUS POINT:
* Has a small LED above the power switch that flashes to show you where it is, great idea hampered by the fact it’s bright enough a plane would mistake it as the outer marker for a runway. Three layers of duct tape and it still shines through 🙁
* D Cells are pricey
Brilliant lights. I put the batteries in and they flash very lightly to let you know battery works. This is great when there is a power cut and you need to reach into a cupboard to find the lantern. There are a lot of powercuts where I am, in the country. I have bought one for each room. So much safer than lighting candles. Batteries last for absolutely ages on standby. The light is bright.
I bought this to have light in the house in case of power cuts. I’ve not been disappointed. The LED light is really bright white, even on the lower level. It easily lights a whole room and so much easier to use in such cases than a torch and you can’t beat the 360 light. The little flashing light at the front is excellent too, makes it easier to find both the lantern and the power button when the lights go out. I’ve ordered a second one. Highly recommended.
So good the scout group have now bought 10.
Updated 25 Oct.
The lanterns have now been to several Scout and Cub camps there is nothing to say but these are robust lanterns even in hands of Scouts. They have been left in the rain, dropped and thrown in and out of the store room and are still all fully functional. Flashing mode was great for games in a field, it looked like aliens had landed.
I see that there is now a 500lm 2nd gen one out now, that must be insanely bright as a couple of these 300lm ones will light up a mess tent with no problem and are so much safer than the gas lamps we used to use.
Superb value for money. Other reviews refer to the difficulties in putting in batteries. It took me two minutes to work out how to insert them and close the cap. Not difficult. The small plastic clip to hang the lamp could easily be broken if you are heavy handed. However the it would make more sense to hold it up by the strong metal handle.
Bright light.
Have now ordered 3 of these in total as we use them for room lighting in our family tent – really durable and give of an impressive 300 Lumens of light, a bit stumped as to why you’d use the flashing option on them? – maybe a breakdown? but the high and low power options are really useful and you do get 6 days at least out of them on low power, 3 on full.
Cant find anything better at the price – the VARTA ones which are exactly the same bar a few visual differences are 22 each!
Bargain price for a reasonable lantern. Not super bright, but good enough to light a (huge – 6m x 5m) tent and prevent you tripping over stuff. Was actually enough to eat by. I shall buy another to increase lighting level.
Takes 3 x D cells, which is a bit of a pain – usually D cells come in packs of 2 or 4. The battery compartment lid on the bottom is very fiddly to install. Basically impossible to do in the dark. The flashing green locator LED is pointless for camping use – it’s visible clear through to the bedroom compartment of my tent during the night. Waste of battery!
This is a perfect lantern for many uses. I use mine mainly for camping and fishing trips. It’s a lot smaller than it appears to be in the picture. It has hanging hooks top and bottom and can also stand alone on a table. You have three light settings. The first is low which is perfectly suitable for most uses. The second is a lot brighter and should not be used near airports unless you want an A380 landing on your tent. The third is a flashing beacon which I’ve never used. It appears to be well made but I would not like to drop it from any great height. Really pleased with it. It lights up my tent a treat. It also has a flashing green light above the on/off switch which makes it easy to find in the dark. I recommend it.
I was on the lookout for a lantern in case of a power blackout having read some reviews settled for this one it started well fast delivery and well packaged. After I put in the batteries tried it worked better than expected very good light from it I am very happy with this purchase good price intend to buy another two. On some of the reviews there seemed to be a problem when putting the base back on after inserting the batteries had the same problem myself first time but when I looked at it more closely and took my time lined up the arrows and the notch and twisted it home no problem.
This lantern gives out an amazingly bright light – enough to light up an average sized room. The top and base are made of a heavy duty rubber and the lantern also has a recessed plastic hook as well as the metal handle shown in the product photo. Batteries are quite large but easy to install. The inside of the lid is marked with a sticker which aligns with an identical sticker inside the battery compartment. In theory this should make it easy to fit the batteries and screw the lid on but I sometimes find this process a bit of a fiddle.
My only other criticism is the pulsating lamp at the front of the lantern which can’t be deactivated even when the lantern’s turned off. Since the lamp is primarily intended for camping I suppose there’s a reason for this although I’d imagine even campers would find this annoying when trying to sleep!. I bought the lantern for use as emergency lighting indoors so when it’s not in use I unscrew the lid to save battery power. I haven’t had the lamp long enough to comment on how long the batteries last although they’re easy to find and not overly expensive. Overall a useful product.
This lantern has absolutely amazed me. It is extremely bright for such a small unit. I tested another battery operated lantern that cost four times as much as this one and it was a whole lot bigger and heavier too but this light was actually brighter!!!
The manufacturers claim that with three D type standard batteries you should get 3 Days of continuous light on high power, and 6 Days on low.
I’ve read here that one reviewer slated the light because he found it very difficult to get the screw base back on to the bottom of the unit when replacing the batteries. I personally haven’t found this a problem at all. Lining up the red ‘arrows’, which are shown inside the unit and on the base was very easy and it just screws back without any issues.
Regarding the flashing Green LED on the front? This is for locating the unit in dark places but it cannot be switched off. Personally I think that it’s a very useful feature but an on/off switch for it might be useful. According to the manufacturers, the batteries will last for up to 2 Years powering this green LED alone when it’s in storage! So, just remember to test the lantern from time to time when its not being used for some while, after all, if you drive a car you need to remember to keep a check on the oil, water, tyre pressure etc so why not the lantern too?
All in all it’s a fantastic buy and like some others have said, I may even buy a second one!
I went fishing Friday night and needed a decent lantern, this little lantern is absolutely superb. I was shocked that how good it was and how long the battery lasted.
Firstly it comes with no batteries but that’s no problem, the battery type is the D. They are easily put in. To get the lid on the battery compartment there is a arrow on the lid and on the part where the batteries are, both arrows line up and the lid goes on with a twist.
The light has 3 settings, low power, full power and flash, we kept ours on low all night.
It also has a hook to hold it up of the floor.
I put 3 new batteries in and we switched on the light about 20:30. It lasted all night through to the morning and no loss of power.
I was very impressed with the amount of light it gave out when on low power.
It has a handle to hold too. It is a nice size and can fit in a rucksack. The build quality is rather impressive too.
I even might consider buying another. The person I went fishing with was rather impressed too.
To turn it on, it has a little black button at the front which also when pressed changes the light to its different modes.
I recommend this totally. It’s incredible.

Product seems robust and has nice features. Including a fold out hook, which is on the base. It is not pictured and not mentioned, but it is useful for hanging within a tent.
It uses 3 ‘D’ sized batteries, which is literally an odd number of batteries, but my only fault would be that it is not intuitive on how to screw the base back on after fitting the batteries. Otherwise the lantern is very good.
The single button toggles between bright, brighter, flashing and off mode. The light dispersion with the cover on isn’t particularly even, but acceptable. Without the cover, the light is thrown more straight down then all over, but still acceptable. The amount of light does seem to be around 300 lumens, which is about the same as a 25w incandescent bulb, which is enough for camping. So it is fit for my purposes away.
I got this instead of a much more expensive 300lm lantern and, honestly, I can’t tell the difference. It’s easy to use, the batteries last a decent amount of time and the light’s really bright. Fab for camping, power cuts and sheds – I’ve used it for all 3. It feels fairly ruggedised round the base and the handle makes hanging it up easy. My only minor gripe is that you have to cycle through the 3 modes (on, brighter, flashing) before you can turn it off. I have developed a habit of looking away as I go to turn it off, since the flashing light’s pretty bright. I could do without it but it might come in handy one day. It’d be a good thing to keep in a car boot or caravan. I’d happily buy more of these.
Had a problem getting it to work. Tried two sets of batteries and several goes taking the batteries out and putting them back in. all to no avail. Started procedure to return item and just before I packed it up I put the batteries back in and tried it one more time, and surprise surprise it worked. Why it didn’t work first time or even 6th time, I have no idea I didn’t do anything different, but it is working now. Nice and bright and very handy. I haven,t tried taking the batteries out and refitting them yet but hopefully when I do it will still be working
The unit is compact and well made and gives off a great light. I took up camping last year and limited my initial equipment purchases towards a no mains pitch. I initially purchased a rechargeable lantern that you could charge off the laptop prior to going on a trip and via a winding handle whilst away. Although useful, I needed something with more light and this lantern fits the bill. The only negative is that I find the battery cover to be somewhat fiddly but not enough to detract from a full 5 stars.
I experienced a power cut recently and realised I needed a bright lamp. While I was looking around I noticed that one lamp design was appearing under different brand names and for different prices. A Varta lamp was selling for 30% more than an EVER LED lamp despite being more or less identical. So I bought the EVER LED lamp not because I know this brand but because I saved money.
In use, I have to say the lamp is exceptionally bright. I tried in a pitch black room measuring about 60 square metres and I could see what I was doing in the far corners. The light is reminiscent of very strong moon light – bright enough in the middle to prepare food or read and tapering out. The lamp has a full power mode, a low power mode, a flashing mode and a standby. I would have preferred an explicit on/off switch because standby flashes green and it doesn’t convince me to leave the batteries inside for very long.
Overall I’m happy with the lamp for what it is.
Update: I put some rechargable batteries in the lamp and left it in a cupboard for 3 months. The little green light is still blinking away and the lamp turns on. So the blinking isn’t draining the batteries much although I still wish there was a master switch to turn off this feature entirely.

I’m really pleased with this lantern, I looked at lots of others but finally settled on this one. It’s well made and feels robust, it’s quite compact being roughly 3 inches square by 7.5 inches high. The light output is amazing even on the lower power setting, during the course of my work I have to get into some pretty tight spots, under floors or in lofts etc and using a ‘plug in’ light source isn’t always possible or the easiest thing to do depending on the job but this lantern certainly solves that problem!
It really does light up a whole room and provides an excellent level of light to work by. I shall definitely be buying another one to use at home. By the way, because of the nature of the light ie it being a lantern and not a torch, the light is in your face a bit if you try to walk with it outside at night…..well, they say necessity is the mother of invention and this problem is very easily cured by simply using a small piece of card on one side of the lantern (the inside of a toilet roll works very well!) and an elastic band! Might sound a bit Heath Robinson but if you’re in the middle of nowhere it works trust me!
Batteries last for ages too, how on earth did we manage before LED’s!!!!

I wanted a light just in case there was a power outage. Originally thought about a gas lamp, then came across this. With the reviews and the great price I thought I’d give it a go. Lantern is slightly smaller than I expected, but does it punch above it’s size! Very bright. Easily illuminates a 6′ x 10′ room and according to the blurb, it will last 2 years without use, 3 days on high and 6 days on low. Takes 3x D batteries which are fairly expensive, but cheaper than gas canisters. I suppose the only disadvantage is that it doesn’t give out heat like a gas lamp would. However, batteries are smaller and easier to store than gas canisters. The lantern is also light and robust.
I am very impressed and would recommend it as an emergency light and for camping.
Lighting EVER LED Lantern, Ultra Bright 300lm, Home, Garden and Camping Lanterns
A superb purchase. Very, very bright considering it is powered by only 3 size D batteries. The option of using low power, high power or a flashing mode is a very good idea since you can extend battery life if you don’t need high power. The flashing LED is also useful for finding the lamp in the dark – as we discovered recently when we had a power cut at home and needed to locate the lantern. Would strongly recommend it to others. We will be buying a second lantern to have one at home upstairs and one downstairs.
The rubberised top and bottom ensures this lantern doesn’t slide off uneven surfaces. The hook in the base is great for inverting the lantern for hooking onto the tent roof hoop and the main defuser can be easily removed. There are two brightness settings and (I think) an irritating flashing mode – who would need this? There is a small LED which blinks when the lantern is off, presumably for easily locating it in the dark. It would be nice to have a “completely off” switch for when stowed away but I suppose it would be wise to remove the batteries instead.
Really well made. Certainly the best battery lantern I’ve owned and probably even better than my oil and gas lanterns – far easier and brighter whiter light.
This lantern is excellent value and is quite bright. I am not sure if the 300 lumen claim is accurate but is plenty bright enough for my needs. The construction is quite good and of durable quality. It has a rubberised base, top, grip and mode button. The mode button has a firm action that operates the 3 modes: Low, High, Flashing. The bulb itself is a single high powered LED. It is very bright! The quality of the light is good without any yellow tint or flicker. The diffuser is made from good quality plastic. On the front there is small green LED which periodically flashes and acts like a beacon so you can locate it easily in the dark. There is a metal wire handle which is quite sturdy. The base has a foldable plastic hook as well. The lantern takes 3 x D size batteries (not included) and gives the lantern a nice solid feel to it. Recommended.
This EVER LED Lantern seems a well built one. The lamp comes with instructons on how to
install the three size D batteries, which I did in a few minutes. The lamp has a small green light
on the front that confirms that the batteries are connected and working, also the light is a help in locating
the lamp in the dark. By pressing the button on the front, the lamp lights up at half power,on the second push the lamp
lights up at full power and at the third push the lamp flashes for emergency situations. The lamp gives off a very bright light, even
at half power. It is lit by one very powerful LED. The top perspex clear cover can be unscrewed, revealing the LED covered by a perspex
protecting small dome. This can now be, if required, hung up with a not very strong plastic hook which is set into the bottom of the lamp and is not easily pulled out. By hanging the lamp as described, the brightest light is achieved.I think the hook will just be about strong enough to carry the weight of the lamp over a period of time. Apart from the flimsy plastic hook I am
very satisfied with my purchase.
You might of noticed that there are 3 LED camping lanterns on Amazon & they all look the same!
The one from Varta 27 & one from Ring Cyba-lite 20 – These have both been available since 2009
– Therefore the LED technologies contained within aren’t as new as the one in this lantern, the two of them feature 3 x LEDs which make up 4Watts of output at 300ish lumen (Check Amazon.com for the Rayovac – Same as Varta & Ring ones) it mentions that the lumens is only 240. Other reviewers then mention the ‘Lighting EVER’ lantern as brighter.
So to round it all up in my opinion, as the the real output data isnt available – This lantern is the one to go for – The case is identical in every way to the other two (bar the handle) and it only costs 17.50 vs lots more for the other two versions & it features 1 larger LED, which runs for longer than the two lanterns with 3 x LEDs.
Check out the photos, someone from Amazon.com has got shots of the Rayovac vs this one side by side, although not great shots.
Save some money & go for this one.
Mine arrived with a broken hook – So I fixed it with a match stick 🙂
Having taken up Carp fishing I needed a no nonsense light that would not blind me nor put the fish off feeding,I saw this light and thought, well it looks good so it must be good, must say I was mistaken,it was brilliant,in every sense of the word, you get three stages for your money, low, high and flashing!,anyway the first two are the ones I wanted so I am happy to say that on a very dark night when there is no light at all and you have packed up all your gear loaded yourself up with everything leaving one finger to hang this light on and you are ready to trek through the undergrowth back to where you hope your car is you press the button and all around is lit up so you can see those deep puddles of water that you walked into on the way down to the swim, word of caution though leave the flashing mode alone, you may find a 747 coming in on final approach,it really puts the fish off feeding when a Jumbo lands in the lake, only kidding, but all in all a very good and well put together lamp, its very bright in high light and in the power saver mode you can hit that when you have set your lines out and are waiting for that first bite, all you have to do is press the button which flashes by the way so you can see where it is to press, and then land that Big Carp,Brilliant little light for the tent/bivvy and outside.
