I feel it was worth getting this over a cheaper jigsaw. It feels extremely solid, is very well designed and vibrates much less than I’d expected. Looks like it’ll last a long time.
Feels solid and nicely built. Low vibrations when in use making it easier to use. Smooth use.
Basic model ideal for occasional DIY. Can keep steady to cut straight.
Awesome corded smaller jigsaw
I have one complaint hence loss of star. It come with one blade. ONE. Come on Makita be a little more generous.
Bought this to replace a perfectly good, but basic Bosch jigsaw, thinking that orbital action and variable speed would improve the cutting performance. I have used this jigsaw, so far, to cut 19mm melamine faced chipboard using the ‘multi purpose’ blade supplied with the machine. I could only get clean cuts with the orbital action turned off and this seemed to make no difference to the cutting rate of the jigsaw. The variable speed, however, does help with controlling the saw particularly on start up, so a slight improvement over the Bosch. Initially, I was getting straight, square cuts but after a very short time the blade turned to rubber and will now do anything but cut straight or square. I have come to the conclusion that you are better off buying a basic, cheap jigsaw and spending your savings on good quality, single purpose blades and replacing them regularly.
My husband liked the way how easy it is to handle
I just love this saw. I love the make and model. The manufacturer has never failed me yet.
Very nice jigsaw. Well balanced in the hand even I managed a pretty good straight cut and I’m a novice. Love it.
For the price I really like it. Makita have good feedback for reliability and provides replacement parts if you need them. Cutted 62cm of 40mm hardwood worktop. Note: Jigsaws are not for designed for such job so it wasn’t too precise – every jigsaw in such thick and hard material would suffer blade bending during cutting (ie. plunge saw is a more proper tool for such job) but this task show that performance wise there was no problems at all. No blade quick release, do if you need change blades very often look for a bit more expensive model. Overally very happy.
Its definitely worth paying a bit more for this machine as it’s not so noisy as some and feels very well made speed setting good too just the job
I don’t know much about Jigsaws, so when I went out to buy one, I decided to apply the “buy cheap, buy twice” saying and spent a bit more cash than I wanted.
I’ve used it a lot and it’s just super easy, feels very robust and reliable.
It may not have all the fancy bells and whistles – but I didn’t want those, I just wanted a workhorse that would last me years.
If you are stuck, like me, trying to choose by price, do yourself a favour and just get this – there’s no point buying dirt cheap and there’s no point buying stupidly expensive unless you are a pro.
This is a brilliant jigsaw. Feels lovely to hold and use and does all that it should. I gave it four stars only because mine came with a non-UK plug but it did not say anywhere on the listing that this would happen. Bit of inconvenience searching around for a plug and the lead is moulded into the saw at the other end so you can’t just swap the whole lead. Small niggle there, but completely delighted with the saw itself
Obviously good quality equipment. Case would have been nice but considering the cost it’s understandable.
Thanks alot
Very happy with i
Bought this to make an office desk, researched what blades to buy too. did a great job, very happy with this. A lot better than my old jigsaw.
Really can not find fault with this Jigsaw, comes with a blade so its ready for use but I do suggest ordering a multi pack of Makita blades when you order this Jigsaw, good adjustable speeds, cuts straight and true, can tilt blade back so it cuts quicker but then its not as clean as keeping blade straight leaves rough finish tilting blade back, cuts on 45 degree angle well. Has long as you know what your doing this Jigsaw wont let you down, has a good thick power cable. And hex key attached at rear to change blades. Does circles really well too, I felt no harsh vibrations either. I would recommend this for home usage only just because of power cable.
Good little saw, replaced the same older model which lasted 15 yrs.
Fantastic – Top Quality, works really well. I was very impressed by the build quality of this jigsaw. After one month of use I am fully satisfied with its abilities and durability. I highly recommend this jigsaw and would suggest that Makita be your first choice for all power tools!
This is a great budget option for anyone needing an occasional use Makita jigsaw. Build quality us great for the price point. The only slight let down is the lack of hard case ( product combed under a cardboard box) Sell in all a great little saw.
Brought this as a gift. Very happy with it worth the money
Good price good jigsaw , perfect for every job makes light work of cutting kitchen worktops.
Makita – what more to say… brilliant bit of kit.
so much better than my cheap own brand… I can now cut in a straight line
Buying this is like buying a base-level VW with no extras instead of a Kia or Hyundai with all the bells and whistles… You are buying quality which should last, rather than one that works with lots of toys but lack the refinement of a quality product (I think). I haven’t had the pleasure of a traditional jigsaw before this (had a multi-function black and decker saw with jigsaw function from many years ago, and that was hs!te). This cuts way better (but anything would cut better that the B&D).
Very good Jigsaw, cuts wood and polycarbonate easily and cleanly. recommended seller.
Great item at a great price, it was just what I needed, the only downside I would say and the reason for the 4* is that there’s no box with the item so I will have to cut up my old box for this to fit into.
Great little saw, well made and good price, lack of case is the only downside.
My husband loves Makita tools and is very happy with this purchase
Good but doesn’t come with a carry case, only a cardboard box so not easy to store
This made a lovely present for my grandson, who was very pleased with it, did all he wanted to do and was easy to handle and use.
Excellent jigsaw. I had a Dewalt one before which was awful, it never cut straight as the blade just did what ever it liked. The Makita cut through some roof rafters I was fitting with no problems at all, perfectly straight, no messing about.
Restored my faith in jigsaws.
Makita is really good!! Very happy with this product, as I am with all others.
First orbital jigsaw I’ve had. Works really well. Shame no carrying case though.
Jigsaws are pretty basic bits of kit, but this Jigsaw does the job brilliantly.
It cuts straight enough with low vibration to allow it to be used it as a primary cutting tool for floorboards etc, and the options to cut straight up and down or “lunge cut” with the blade gives the option for speed or precise cutting. I see that some users have complained about the Alan key, I consider the simple design a strength, my old cheaper jigsaw jammed up and the blade was impossible to remove from the ‘quick release’ mechanism. I replaced it with the Makita for this reason. This will not happen on the Makita due to the simple yet robust design decision. Just don’t lose the Alan key, slot it back into it’s holder on the back of the saw each time you finish using it.
Good saw. Powerful and quiet. Blade is stable even when cutting in hard materials
Very pleased with purchase, light, very smooth running, and quie
This works very well, it is good value. I do find it a bit fiddly with the allen head bolts to adjust and for keeping in the blade, but you just need to check they are tight regularly.
Great tool. Cuts straight, simple blade change, allen key holder on saw so you have it when you need it, only possible moan could be rather short cable.
Excellent power tool, everything you expect form Makita. There are cheaper alternatives, but this is much harder wearing and will last indefinitely.
A great quality tool.
I bought this jigsaw to cut out an oak worktop and with the right blades it did it with ease.
Very pleased with purchase.
Have a few Makita tools and they have never let me down. Can be considered a little expensive for me as a DIY user but the cheaper range are worth the extra over very cheap brands as they make the job easier as they work so much better and are well made and reliable. This is better balanced than cheaper brands and cuts better as a result.
