Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis light provides good bright and white illumination. the motion detection is fine as is the timer functions for activation time adjustments. The setting should be done BEFORE you fit it, as trying to do it with it mounted can be very challenging as the switches are tiny and unlikely you can read the numbers!! I bought this light to replace an almost exact same one I fitted 3 years ago. The older one also “Meikee” was still working however the motion sensor was filling with water and eventually the on/off and duration was erratic and couldn’t be relied on anymore, sometimes never going off!!! Also the replacement version, although slightly smaller size has a shorter length cable (about 6″/150mm), so meant I had to reposition it. Anyway, that’s my problem but the light overall is working fine right now. We’ll see in 3 years time if this develops a similar issue with the motion sensor taking in water. (hence the overall 4 stars rating)

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThe angle movement of sensor is considered not so wide with some restrictions. The connecting wire was only about one meter which is considered too short. Nevertheless, it has two year warranty. Hopefully it would last for a bit long life.

Replaced my old light with this one as I wanted it to come on when the dog went out the back door so we could keep an eye on him.
The old one was a nightmare to get the detection right and the buttons were hard to use.
This is the complete opposite. Great control over detection, time and amazingly bright!!
Easy to install – would recommend and have done 🙂

The light arrived as expected and appears to be as described. In view of the current cold weather conditions, I decided not to fit it at present but made sure it works as expected. Obviously I cannot comment on the other factors (motion detection and water resistance) yet.

Very good brightness, good motion detection and weatherproof too, at time of submitting review.
Lightweight, easy to fix to wall and connect to existing electricity supply.
Good practice to mount the security light slightly above or either to the left or right of the cable entry through wall/vertical surface and form a swans neck/u shape with the cable in order for rainwater to drip off below or away from the security light cable entry point reducing the risk of water entering the light and causing an issue.

Adjusting the light is a little bit fiddly, but OK.

So far so good. Exactly as described. Required use of a junction box so had to modify existing wiring as it previously went direct to the lamp.
Only time will tell about how weatherproof it is, however only a 1 year warranty when previous similar lamps have had a 3 year guarantee.

i had assisted in the installation of such lights recently and decided to replace the ones we had. So basically I was familiar with the product. I purchased three to replace our lights and had them installed by a qualified electrician as I have been rendered incapable of doing it myself, for reasons I needn’t outline here. They are economic to run and provide an ideal lumination over the designated areas of concern. i can recommend these light.

This was to replace an existing LED light which lasted less than 2 years and was sent back to my supplier for a refund as the guarantee was 3 years. In comparison, this light is significantly brighter which I would expect (this is 15W compared to the one I replaced 10W). Compared to my previous one, this led has better weather shielding to the elements, there is little chance of water getting inside the light fitting. It was particularly easy to mount and had a nice long lead, not too long but adequate length. It literally took me several minutes to fit. Also it just has 2 settings for the light (dusk setting so comes one at night when movement is detected and day light setting, well this comes on during the day when movement is detected). There are 3 settings for the length of time the light is on, 10 seconds (for initial testing), 45 seconds (which is what mine is set to) and several minutes for the 3rd setting. Less options mean less time faffing about. For me it works, its bright and seems good value for money.

Having had this product for just over 2 years it is apparent that some (just over half of the small leds have failed) and there is less light as a result. I would have expected the leds to have lasted longer than this so I have deducted a star.

4.0 out of 5 stars Lighting the way ahead but longevity below expectatio

I nearly broke tool to unscrew it to make it lose to install it.
Cable wires very small, make it difficult to screw in place, they kept coming out.
It took me forever to connect it otherwise it is doddle to install it.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersOn the first view it seems very good quality for the price. I purchased the 10 watt version and it seems bright enough for an average garden where it will illuminate to around 5 meters or so. We have used this for a security light on the shed.

It was super easy to install, mainly due to already having a light in the position so it was just a swap over job. The wire seems of good quality and enough length to get you a fair way in to where you need to wire it in to your supply.
Where the wire goes into the light section its very well made and sealed against the elements.

I would say the LED part of the unit is very well made but the sensor section will be the weak point of this.
It will be interesting to see how water resistant this part will be to the elements. I have no doubt the metal case of the LED section will be fine but the motion sensor, being just plastic, might let water through. Time will tell.

I have noticed that this motion sensor housing does get warm, so there are some components in there that might be drawing a lot of current, perhaps unnecessarily so, but perhaps this will be good to dry out the sensor part.

Downsides are that you cannot adjust the sensor on the up and down axis, only side to side. So because we have our light on a shed I would have liked to have moved the sensor up a bit to point down the garden, rather than down at the floor somewhat as it currently stands.
Left and right adjustment is no problem since the sensor has a pivot just for this movement.

It is a shame you cannot adjust the sensitivity of detection like some models, I would have liked the light to come on when detected further away. My position only detects me about 3 meters from the light. As mentioned, this could be because the sensor is pointing down a lot rather than straight ahead.

I would also like to have had an adjustment to come on at dusk/dawn, rather than just a night and day option.
We have another security light which has these adjustments so with a bit of tinkering you can have it come on shortly before dark (or before light in the mornings) which is very helpful. The MEIKEE only seems to come on at night only or on night and day but why would you want it on during during the day?!
I am not sure if there is a sensor to detect darkness, there has to be somewhere. I’ve not found it yet.

It is nice to see MEIKEE are quite responsive to queries and support questions so should anything go wrong they should resolve any issues. This was part of the reason I went for this model.

We are just coming in to Autumn so I will update this review after a few months to see how well it fairs through the winter.

Edit: so it has been a couple of weeks and the light is still working perfectly. We have had a LOT of rain over the last two weeks and the light has taken a bit of a soaking, but despite some moisture being present in the sensor it still seems to work ok.
The light section is still perfectly dry. Time will tell how that sensor holds up!

Initially a good quality light - will update after a few months

Extremely pleased with the way this performs It is a sealed unit and cannot be accessed for maintenance, but that saves having to make the usual fiddly electrical connection. Perhaps the only drawback is that the cable is only 1.4 metres long which is probably not long enough for most external applications, meaning that a weatherproof junction box
is required. Nevertheless an excellent product.

  50. winfredeeou101 says:

     United Kingdom

Did what was expected, LED’s provide more than adequate lighting. Well pleased, I needed to modify connections which was easy, although access to the light itself would have been difficult. You need to make a mains connection using cable provided.

  51. Anonymous says:

     United Kingdom

Arrived on time . Like other reviewers I think the cable should be a bit longer. I had to get an in line junction box just to reach another foot or so. Also had problems getting the light to work properly with the light illuminating in bright sunlight and staying on. Was about to uninstall it and return it when it went out. decided to leave alone until dark and see what happened. It started working correctly with a time setting of 45 seconds which i have left alone in case I upset it and it goes wrong again. Works well otherwise.

    What a pleasure.

This light was chosen to replace a halogen light on the side of my house. I had to buy an external junction box to fit it to the existing wiring. That said, installation was easy, even at the top of a ladder.

This item is smaller, neater and well made from what I can see. It’s set up by means of moving switches and is refreshingly simple and waterproof. It works a treat too.

Well recommended and I shall be buying two slightly more powerful ones in the same range to replace existing Halogen lights.

  54. AdelaHerzog says:

     United Kingdom

There are no fiddly dials to set up with this one. It’s 1 switch to set ON time (10-45-120-600 seconds), and another for day/night operation. That’s it. It’s relatively compact, and works well, and as expected. It has the advantage of quite a long cable (as some only come with measly short ones). The cable appears to be sealed in.

A lovely product. For my uses, it was the right size, small enough and bright enough. I installed it during the day, set the lux for nighttime, and the time for 45 secs.
However, it came on during the day as soon as I switched on at the plug? It did go out after a while, and I suppose that will happen the first time you switch it on at the mains…it might be helpful to mention that in the installation instructions ar somewhere. initially, I thought the sensor wasn’t working.
But that is all minor..a a great size, very reasonable for what you get, very well made and looks very waterproof. Go and purchase one…it is very good!

I like this lamp. It has good light throw which is also clear and is easy to fit when combined with an IP66 connector box. I think at the height I have it, detection range may be a little reduced and there is a limit to how far up you can angle the sensor which prevents extending it. All in all it seems pretty robust and comes at a good price.

Probably one of the smartest investment I have done by investing in this light. We had a break in and since then I put 6 cameras, Sensors, Door alarms as well as house Alarm in my house. It was incomplete until I put this tiny light in my garden. You can set the sensitivity, Put the sensor focus on your desired angle and its led. The light is so bright, you cannot imagine. I would love it if it had human sensor which will not allow light to turn on if there are cats in the garden from neighbour’s house. But hey, you cant expect everything. I knew what I am buying. Get this one for your garden of front yard. It’s worth it.

Great bright light with good motion detection. There is easy adjustment for light on time and control for daylight or darkness activation. The unit is well made and weathertight. The only reservation is the use of a flimsy plastic coated wall bracket. Living close to the sea I have found these don’t last long before rusting however I have bought several of these lights over the years and just made my own aluminium brackets. Other than that these are excellent units and I highly recommend them.

  64. OmarGregory says:

A compact and bright security light. Easy to install, top tip read the instructions on the dip switch settings and if possible set then before installing as they are designed as ‘set and forget’ in a small recess with a rubber removable cover, could be fiddly to do one installed.

Another tip… If the sensor feild of view is too wide you can use a decent gaff tape to block out parts of the sensor – I ‘tuned’ mine this way to have it sense people walking on a pathway but not at the sides, works a treat.

Easy install (fit a 3 pin plug in garage or wire it into a fused spur). Delivered very quickly for me. This was smaller than previous external lights I have bought but that isnt a problem. Gives a ‘cold’ white light rather than a ‘warm’ off-white as some LEDs do, which is good for its function outdoors. Mine points from our Garage to our back door and that is detecting motion at around 5-6 metres so this coverage for me is good. Light it gives off illuminates the rear of our house as well as across the gardens of the next two houses in the street – adjusted the angle since 🙂

Does exactly what I expected. Easy to install with a waterproof junction (available separately) so long as you have basic knowledge of electricity. Came with 3 rawl plugs and screws which were good enough to use and not the usual throw away type. I cut the cable for a tidier install as it was a replacement for a broken light illuminating a paved area. The angle of light covers enough of the path to light both direction better than the old two way halogen light.

Colour is nice, not too white but far from yellow. I will be buying another two of these lights although these are for larger areas so will go for the 30w or 50w.

The light settings are switched rather than dials so they are easy to set up – no more guessing how long the light remains on for as this can be easily set to fixed periods.

Overall, very impressed. Hopefully, the unit and PIR will remain waterproof as this caused the failure of the old light but time will tell, however, so far so good after some torrential rain.

It’s a shame they don’t offer mix and match promotions rather than money off buying two lights of the same voltage.

Great little LED light, purchased for security of my drive, getting out of the car and up to the house, set for 3 miutes. I chose cool white over warm white as that is better light if using for security. Easy to install and has a long lead which I was able to feed through my wall to my light junction box. Barely uses any electricity which is another bonus, my last light was using 500w! Highly recommended.

Great little security light and easy to install

This motion sensor security lamp was bought to replace another lamp which occurred faulty led’s, the lamp was situated on the front off the garage to be activated when the driver/passengers got out off the car after having driven into the driveway at night, the illuminated lamp allows anybody to walk to the gates to close them.

I needed a replacement security light and this one had good reviews.
There didn’t appear to be any issues with installation but I did use an electrician for this so cant comment personally.
It has 3 setting for the length of time it stays on once activated as well as settings for the proximity of movement to actually activate the light.
It has been in place for a good few months now exposed to Scottish winter weather and no issues at all.

Just updating my review, first product failed, not weatherproof, but seller provided replacement with no fuss at all, so good service from them, thank you very much.

The light I received wasn’t not as waterproof as I expected around the sensor. After the recent heavy rainfall I noticed the light stopped working. Upon closer inspection I could see water pooling on the inside of the sensor. I can’t tell if it is due to condensation or a faulty seal.

It didn’t matter because the customer service was brilliant. I emailed them the problem and they sent out a replacement straight away. I am giving them the benefit of doubt that I was just unlucky in that the light was just one of those rare occurrences where you get failures.

Delivery was unbelievable – ordered 2 of theses lights on Saturday morning and the arrived early Sunday afternoon . Great looking lights. First one works works a treat withal the light we need at side of house. Sensor excellent. However the other light stays constantly on a very dim mode. Appears to be faulty so will have to get up ladders again , take it down and return .

Great little light that is doing a good job. Very easy to fit and set up for the average do it yourself person but it is so quick to install it shouldn’t cost much if you need to hire some one to fit. Shame the power lead wasn’t six or so foot longer and I wouldn’t of needed to use an extension.

I was a little concerned that this would not illuminate my garden as it is so tiny but it did. My garden is around 80ft long and this worked just fine. The only gripe would be the short wire, just a little longer and it would have been perfect.

Easy to install and use, good value for money. Mine failed after 3 months but after contacting Maikee the sent a replacement free of charge within a couple of days, this is now working OK

Works well. Item as described. Surprisingly compact. Having bought a number of similar lights in the past, I hadn’t bothered to check the size. This outside light is smaller than I expected. But, performs perfectly well and I would buy another. The light is bright and quite white.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWas impressed at first sight of product, pleased that it was not too bulky and looked well designed and compact and that bolts retaining the light to bracket looked like stainless steel. The security lamp was purchased to replace a previous light on the outside of a garden shed. I noted that previous reviewers said that the cable attached to the sealed unit was too short but I did not find this a problem as I only needed to attach it to a cable that was already in place from the previous light fitting and connected it inside the shed using a terminal block but will probably replace this with a fused spur switch at a later date.
After initially trying to install it outside on a freezing cold day with very numb and frozen fingers, the light switched on as expected when first connected to the supply but the PIR kept failing and it looked like it was working intermittently. I was planning to return it to supplier as faulty but decided to disconnect it and set it up in my garage connected to a 3 pin plug and it worked perfectly. When I was disconnecting the unit I had noticed previously that the screw in the terminal block left an impression on the live cable covering and this had resulted in a poor connection. The reason for this was that cable ends covered in solder are way too short and could do with being a couple of mm longer to ensure that it gives a positive connection. I gave the product only 4 stars for this reason and in hindsight I would recommend any new purchasers to initially try the light out indoors connected to a 3 pin plug and after stripping back a few more mm of the cable covering to make sure you have a good positive connection to make sure it works. Otherwise I am very pleased with the final fitting and now working perfectly and would recommend this product.

This looks a sturdy little light but as yet it has not been fitted as it was purchased for a family member as an early Christmas gift. They are awaiting their electrician to fit it for them

Bought this to replace a blown halogen one. Easy to fit, fitted in exacly to replace old one. Easy to set up just turned all sensors to about half way and it’s perfect.

Comes without plug, which having bought another one where the cable wasn’t long enough. This has about 1.5m cable with bare wires at end. Separate waterproof connector allowed me to use the existing power supply, so ideal.

It’s about half as bright as the old halogen one, but hopefully much more efficient. More than bright enough to light my back garden though. See how long it lasts but would recommend so fa

Only installed two days ago due to the weather. A little fiddly to install with the small bracket bolts but thats due to my large hand. So fat working as it should, will update any issues.

It’s a good light although I do find when it’s extra windy it keeps coming on
So the sensor is extra sensitive
Very good lighting power for my garden which is only about 15′ square
After I purchased this one I found several similar ones much cheaper on Amazon but that’s my fault for not shopping around
    Overall good

Fitted two of these (20 W) high up under the eaves overlooking my back garden and angled downwards.
Lights up the garden well. Not too bright to annoy neighbours but just right to see clearly should they activate.
So far so good – will update review shoud the units fail in next 12 months after a winter weather bashing, but early signs are good.
The units are slim-line and appear well made. Got one in a flash sale and paid around 15. The second one cost me 19, so good value.
    Thanks Meikee
The cable length supplied is around 1m, would be better if 2m as it was difficult to connect up in a confined space inside my attic and a longer cable would have helped – but a minor gripe really.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI purchased this light because my previous light was faulty. The fitting was straight forward because I had the electrics from my previous light in place. The brightness if great and with an LED bulb it will be cheaper to run too.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersLight is great – powerful and sensor works perfectly. However it can’t be tilted left to right the and cable is VERY short. If you mount this above head height outside and run the cable through an external wall you’ll have about 2 feet of it to play with inside.

been meaning to replace the old halogen type that packed in quite some time ago to light up the drive way and front door. So ordered this. It’s grate, partner found it easy to install. He used an out door weather proof cable conector to attach to existing cable from old light. Lights up driveway and front door better that the old one. We also have CCTV by the front door and this light has made a huge difference in detail.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThe light arrived promptly and boxed exactly as shown in another reviewers pictures. Firstly with LED its hard to get your mind around 10W giving you the same lux as a 60W. Personally i would say this lights more like an 80-100 watt bulb when standing under it. I had a 500 halogen before so its like chalk and cheese but the idea is to light the dark path and door outside at night so i can find keys and get into the house and this it does well for 10W. Save money on electricity and blinding ur neighbours too. It is smaller than you might think from the pictures. The back plate at the point of ingress of the cables has four chromed screws and compresses a seal against the body to maintain a water tight fit..the cable is sealed by a compression ring. I was hoping the cables inside would be terminated by screw fastenings so i could remove the cable fitted. I wanted..for ease..to use the existing cable to the old light. This had terminated in the old light in a cheese block and took seconds to unscrew after 20 years up on the wall. Unfortunately the new light has crimps sealed with poly caps. The only way would have been to cut wires which i didnt want to do on a new light. 60-90cm of cable as supplied is really not enough cable. It barely gets you across the house wall cavity..that is what it does. You then have to start terminating under your floor boards. This meant ripping up bedroom carpet..taking up floor boards..a cupboard door off..searching for a termination block etc and being cramped double upside down under the floor once i had got the new units cable across the cavity which is never as simple as it should be. Can you see how just being able to fasten in the existing cable would have made fitting so much easier.
The bracket supplied is ample in rigidity to take the load of tge unit. However.. there is little clearance between the bracket and tge bottom of the PIR. Think for a moment? The braket is U shaped. If u have the bracket mounted to a vertical surface unless you want the light shining in ur face the light to one extent or another will need rotating to 90 degrees to point down wards.! You may wish to annoy your neighbours by lighting their garden too but i feel most of us use this light to illuminate tge area under which you have mounted it not to blind someone approaching the light. Also this angle affects the scope of detection of the sensor..more later. Anyway u want the light pointing down using a U shaped bracket and when you rotaye it down the PIR causes a foul condition with the cable if you route it through the hole kindly drilled central in the bracket base. The PIR hits it when the light is 90 deg downwards. If you mounted the bracket to a wall then drilled the wall for the cable with the bracket in situ then came to remount the light and swung it..i can imagine being annoyed. So id suggest having a cable entry into a wall above the bracket and not through the bracket as drilled. There are 3 variable potentiometers on the base of the PIR. Pointing tge light down tgey get hidden for adjustment. You have to keep tge light loose and fiddle with them until ur settings are correct before tightening the pivot bolts. 2 of the 3..outside 2 the middle one is for duration of time the light stays on…the outside 2 are both sensitivity…i think one is for daylight sensitivity but as yet im not sure . It appears one turns the light off completely..you might think the light is broken as it will not work in one condition. I find them hard to read..to see..in an awkward place..hard to get large fingers on and they rotate outside the markex zone on the moukding..please see photos supplied by other reviewers..in a photo theyvlook great..up a ladder in daylight ..pivotted against a wall its very hard to see. A nice light..works well..cheap to run..reasonable build standard..needs other parts to mount and connect succesfully. Hope this helps people???
