Mira Showers 1.1634.117 Galena 9.8 kW Electric Shower – Slate

I purchased this shower to replace my existing Galena which was 11 years old. During its time I replaced one heater tank and safety cutout thermostat, after 5 years. The heater tank failed again and its cost was 174.95 plus a thermostat to replace, more if you paid someone, to be fair our water is very hard. When I removed existing Galena I noticed the plastic casing had deteriorated with cracks at most screw holes so decided to replace whole unit. Purchased same model because plumbing etc. was concealed and wanted an easy swap. Everything went straight forward. The latest shower does not have as much “flow” as the old one but as good as any other electric shower I have had. The let down is the handset, looks very nice but options of spray pretty pointless. The original one had well thought out options including a higher flow narrow pressure one. This latest one has many more holes in which reduces flow to a “rain” type shower head. May just be personal choice but was very pleased with the older version. Overall my old Galena was used 2-4 times every day and lasted 11 years in a hard water area with the one change of heater tank. The quality of components looks good and the exterior of the old one still looks as new with regular gentle cleaning so it is a shower I would recommend, I will be changing the shower head, unfortunately threw the original one away. There is a glass fronted version which is cheaper than the slate one I purchased. Amazon price was by far the best when I purchased and next day free delivery.

Bought this Galena shower to replace my old model. Amazon was the best price on the market and I received it 2 days earlier than expected. It looks amazing in my bathroom. Was going to go for the slate front again, but glad I opted for the metallic silver. I love itThe pressure is much better than the old one and the shower head looks much more modern.

The first shower we received was faulty and only let a trickle of water through but Amazons return and replacement system was fantastic and with in a couple of days the replacement was here and ready to install. The shower performs well, providing a hot water pressure that’s as powerful as anybody can reasonably expect from a direct from the mains system (Although this is likely to reduce slightly during the coldest period of the winter). This shower unit easily out performs the Triton shower of similar power and design that it replaced. The only downside is that plumbing entry points are limited to the left side of the unit, whereas many others can be plumbed from either side. Therefore installing this unit as a replacement for existing shower can be a lot more difficult than it should be.
