Only glitch is the wires are set up for right handed people who would position the unit on the right side of their ironing board so they snag of you’re left handed. Easy fix, I’ve just bought a separate stand but something I’d not thought abou

My dearest actually loves (lives) to iron. She does ours, our stay at home daughter (21) and our live away married daughter, husband and granddaughter.

She has always had a steam generating iron but her trusty model gave up the ghost (i reckon it did over 7000 full washing loads in its 4 yr life). So this was my attempt at buying a ‘surprise’ and I think I git it right.
Super easy to use, big volume, clever yech for clean and filter flush, this modem is by far the most advanced without trying to shoehorn in unneeded gimmicks

If you, or your loved one has lots to iron, do them the biggest favour and buy this

Makes the ironing of everything a breeze. The power of the steam is incredible and it’s quite lightweight so no arm ache after half and hour. No creases are too stubborn. I stand the iron on the end of my ironing board whilst I’m ironing rather than trying to fit it back on to the iron stand – it’s not difficult to do but just that slight slotting it back onto the unit takes a second so I use the metal end of my ironing board and the power of the steam is not affected by it not being rested back on the stand. (I obviously wouldn’t do this had I not got an ironing board with an end made specifically to stand a hot iron on.)

Despite of the ‘cheap’ feel plastic, the iron delivers on the promise (well, it’s been only a month, I must admit). And in absence of the cleaner, ironing is a joy. The only small thing to be aware of when using the steam button (located conveniently in the bottom front side of the handle) is that it’s very sensitive. On one side, it’s great, you aren’t getting ‘blisters’ or apply any force to switch the steaming function on. On the other hand, it keeps switching on from a small touch when you don’t need it. Switching it off is a bliss easy. I guess, this is something one needs to adjust (small trade off) while enjoying (surprisingly and undoubtedly) the ironing process itself. Highly recommended!

Although I’m not sure about the colour, this iron makes short work of a laundry pile. It is very light weight and has a large water tank. The auto-clean option makes all the difference if you live in a heard water area.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI like the morphy Richard brand, always found them to be reliable. This is my second steam generator iron. The first one still works but needs filters and does produce limescale occasionally. Any who I decided to get a new one and this one does not disappoint. No filters needed and self cleans. Light weight iron, main unit is a bit heavy but to be expected and has brilliant suckers underneath to ensure no movement. Most money I have ever spent on an iron, but so far seems worth it. I personally would recommend.

After my previous Morphy Richards steam generator iron started tripping the fuse I decided to upgrade to this model. Having used it today to do the weekly ironing I note a few things:-
    1. It irons the clothes well, running smoothly over the materials. The iron didn’t feel flimsy to me, as some reviews have mentioned.
    2. The steam button is going to take a bit of getting used to, sometimes the steam stays on until the button is pressed again, other times it just gives a burst of steam, there is probably a knack to controlling it but haven’t quite worked it out yet. Plenty of steam though!
    3. I don’t like not being able to stand the iron up on it’s end though. It has to be placed back on the generator station every time which although safer i.e. it can’t fall over, is a bit annoying and lengthens the overall ironing time.
    4. The power cable storage and the Steam cable storage system is not fit for purpose, how it ever got passed the planning stage without it being scrapped is hard to believe. Previously the power cable just wrapped around the base of the station, simple and effective; now you have to ‘stuff’ it into a small hole in the side, where it just hangs out, a complete and utter design failure in my opinion.

It is early days yet, as I said it does exactly what it is supposed to do and effectively, just a couple of design flaws.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis iron does the job. Huge benefit is the massive water container which means you don’t have to keep filling up whilst your ironing. Steam generated is great but it does seem to have a mind of its own on when that will happen..when it does you need to press a button to stop it steaming continuously. I’ve read the instructions thoroughly (such as they are) and am learning to live with this quirk. As long as this iron keeps going for a few years I’ll be happy but I probably won’t replace it with the same model when it dies.

Is there any more pointless menial household task than ironing? No is the answer, but for whatever reason we sometimes have to do it. This Morphy Richards beast makes the job much faster and easier thanks to the huge water tank and constant steam stream. The only issue I have is the size of the combined unit and base as we don’t have anywhere practical to store it inside the house. If you have the room and you need to get through a lot of ironing regularly, then this is well worth picking up.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI know it’s hard to get excited over an iron, but this is by far the best iron I have ever used. I bought it when it was on offer for 100, but having used it I would gladly of paid double that. It is very lightweight, which is great for my wife as she has a bad shoulder. The steam power is unreal! I bet it could take off wallpaper no problem if you wanted it to!

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersWe absolutely hate ironing. Bought this with a Brabantia Ironing board for steam irons. You will need a sturdy ironing board for steam irons, as the water canister is 2 kg when full, there is a lot of steam so the ironing board must be able to handle it. Amazing little machine. This has revolutionized our ironing. We love this machine. Awesome price for such a beauty.

This iron is an absolute dream, if you’re like me with a large family and heaps of ironing daily to do then it’s worth investing in this as it really makes the whole experience a breeze and a lot quicker.

The iron itself is very attractive in deep purple and black which makes a change from the usual boring white colour and immediately appeals to me who likes my appliances to be a bit different. It’s quite a bulky item so I struggle to find kitchen cupboard space for it so I tend to keep this on the side in my utility room and it’s not a problem as it looks cool and it’s always easy to grab and be at hand. For storage this keeps the cable secure in the base when rolled up so this makes it tidier to store and you don’t have the dangling cables and loose leads where pets can get curious and play when stored!!

The iron itself has a very impressive steam pressure and generates constantly if needed which makes you get through the pile of ironing in half the time and best of all this makes very light work of my linen items which I can spend hours alone on trying to cut through impossible creases, the steam is amazing and having the very large capacity water tank means you can keep it going without having to refill as much and it’s easy to fill too, unlike when you’re trying to fill a standard iron and there’s the small compartment.

One of the best features is the vertical steaming for me as other irons i’ve had have boasted this feature but the steam was never powerful enough and they would end up dripping water instead but this is really effective and perfect for jackets and long dresses and skirts that are awkward to iron due to the length but hung up and steamed it works really well and is actually better than my Steamer!!

All in all this is so amazing and although fairly expensive at the moment at 249.99 it is a good investment and really effective and makes me actually look forward to ironing which I never thought i’d say!! Recommended!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis has made it bearable. You only have to iron one side of most garments such as T-shirts and the sheets are a breeze as I told in half and iron one side then the other and hey presto it takes 4 instead of 44 repositionings of the super king duvet cover before I can dress the bed!
Heats up faster than expected and you can have continuous or shots of high pressure steam.
Much lighter than previous steam hen iron I had and very hand loch so you can carry by the handle which makes moving much easier
Tidy for cables is also a benefit in comparison to my old iron also fills and empties really easily.
Adjusting the heat and steam very easy and simple.
Would recommend especially if you can get it On special as I did.

This powerful piece of kit lets you speed through the ironing at an enormous rate. But it’s very big and bulky occupying three times the space of a typical iron. It’s also slower to heat up. Worthwhile nevertheless.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis steam generator iron from Morphy Richards strikes a good balance between keeping things simple and giving users some control over the heat and steam levels they want to use. Many steam generators have a single fixed heat which (usually) works for most fabrics but might be a bit fierce for delicate items, this one has a familiar heat dial on the iron itself so you can tweak the heat to suit whatever you’re ironing. It also has three steam levels which are easily selected by tapping a button on the main unit but, slightly annoyingly, the iron switches on to the lowest steam setting when you might prefer to start on the more practical Medium setting.

It’s a reasonably compact unit, as these chunky irons go, and isn’t too heavy but you might benefit from a dedicated steam-generator ironing board or a nearby table. Alternatively, the steam hose between the main unit and the iron itself is long enough (just) to sit the main unit on the floor and use it that way. It also strikes a good balance between looking good and practicality, the purple colour and the sleek design make it quite distinctive. There are some minor issues, for example the iron itself is slick-looking but the slimline design means it has no flat ‘foot’ to stand on so between uses you either have to leave it face-down on the ironing board and risk toasting your board cover or place it back onto the base unit, not handy if it’s on the floor beneath you. The iron also features a latch which fixes it onto the base, so you can carry the whole unit using just the iron’s handle, but to make this lock work you have to first tuck the tip of the iron into a (barely visible) notch before then sliding the latch and securing the two units together, it’s too easy to forget the notch and end up faffing about to get it fixed.

In use it’s generally excellent and produces a great head of steam at the High setting, enough to penetrate thicker garments like jeans with ease or allow you to iron big items like duvet covers or curtains several layers at a time. You can also use the iron vertically as a steamer so ironing freshly laundered curtains can also be done in situ. Our other iron is a single-heat version so I didn’t find I used the heat control much, just set it at medium-high and left it there. It’s reasonably quiet in use, compared to some that sound like tractors in reverse, especially when they’re pumping up the pressure in the steam chamber. I didn’t find it that quick to start-up, it seems a bit average, but it doesn’t keep you waiting long before it’s ready to go. The ceramic sole-plate seems tough and glides around on most fabrics with the greatest of ease. Once you’re finished there are handy slots wrapping around the main unit where you can stow the hose and cable, they’re easier to use than most and so you’re more likely to tidy it all away afterwards.

The water tank is removable and voluminous with a sold clicking action to keep it in place, but the fill spout (which has a simple filter to keep out grit and particles) is awkwardly placed and fiddly to fill at the sink without dribbles. However, otherwise this is a really good generator iron that looks slick but also delivers real performance and practicality. It feels solidly made and, if you get one at a nice Amazonian discount, represents really good value.

Morphy Richards 332100 Pressurised Steam Generator, Purple and Black is an iron I would happily recommend as it is so easy to use as well as being so quick at removing wrinkles from even the toughest of denim.
I personally love the colour and the actual shape of the steam generator as well as it is lightweight makes it easy to lift it in and out of the cupboard where I keep it stored.
I consider this to be an exceptional iron which makes short work of my usually large ironing pile. I like the fact the actual iron is comfortable to hold as well as not being overly heavy. The actually iron base is so smooth and it glides t through the material without any hesitation. The tip of the iron is narrow enough to take creases out of narrow cut material where the chosen garment needs precision. I also found it easy to clean out the reservoir where the limescale would gather, and as I live in a hard water area means I would have to clean this out regularly.
An excellent steam generator iron which I am very happy to recommend.

I have an old Phillips steam machine from several years ago and this is a great update on it. For a start it is much smaller. although still bulky to store if cupboard space is an issue. The steam tank fills stright form the tank, no having to buy distilled water cartridges which are increasingly hard to find like my old machine and the iron is ready to go in aminutes. The extreme steam heat means that you can zip through ironing shirts much quicker than with a conventional iron where you have to go over patches again and maybe have to iron out creases you have inadvertently made.

However, unless you do a lot of ironing and I increasingly do less and less as fabrics have improved in terms of being crease resistant then I think a standard iron would best serve your purposes. This is a serious beast, it takes up a cupboard to store and is very expensive (279 at present) investment. My family joke I could take in ironing as a commercial sideline!

I hadn’t used this sort of iron before, but was keen to give it a try. It comes with a base unit where the controls are and where you can fill it with water. I ddi find it pretty bulky to balance on an ironing board but it does work. You can adjust the amount of steam. I found the lowest setting fine for everyday, the higher settings give you a facial and turn your room into a steam room, but I guess for stubborn creases would be great. The only down side is that you have to click a button on the iron to provide the steam. Once for a shot and twice to keep it on constantly. I got used to it, but its a bit of hassle. The upside with a large water vat is that you dont have to fill up and the large amoutn of steam generated meant I got through the ironing quicker with better results. If you have a lot of ironing or wash a lot of bed linen then this iron is for you. For more standard users it is a lot of money to spend and I’m not sure it is worth it.

  44. Anonymous says:

Not many people enjoy ironing but steam generators take some of the suffering out of the job. They are lighter than carrying the water tank on the iron and they do not need all the different settings depending on the materials of conventional irons. As they depend on high pressure steam you just switch it on wait until the pressure is built up and iron. For big bulky cottons such as bedding, sheets and duvet covers they are perfect as the steam can do both sides at once for a smooth soft finish. They have anti-calc guards so that you can use them in hard water areas but some limescale still gets into the iron and can leave white marks on dark clothes and so I would use deionised water.

The one negative is that they are quite bulky and you need a very sturdy ironing board to support them. This is also the reason that I needed a new one as I dropped my old one and it broke the steam reservoir. If you don’t do this then they last years and years without problems.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is a really good steam iron. It is relatively small and compact (compared to the Tefal model I previously used). It heats up quickly and the temperature controls are responsive to adjustments. The steam button also can be “double clicked” to deliver continuous steam without the need to hold down the button which is handy for large items. The iron is also a lot quieter than I expected and delivers a powerful steam jet so that ironing is done much more quickly than a standard iron. The only slight quibble is that the iron cannot stand upright by itself meaning you must return it to the holder on the ironing board when not ironing… but that is probably for good safety reasons. 5 stars

You are either a fan of these generator irons where the water is in a tank and the iron is lighter or everything in the iron and it is heavier with less water volume and pressure. I like both.

This has a large water base that holds two litres of water and produces a whopping 7 bar of pressure pumping out a huge amount of steam for easy ironing. In fact, it was just as easy ironing jeans and denim as a cotton shirt. As the weight is in the base, the actual iron is light compared to standard irons. This first makes you think it will not be as good, but it is. The iron locks easily onto the base to secure it and it just feels sturdy.

The power consumption is quite high, but the hope that it will be quicker ironing may balance it out. The colour is also nice, but this has nothing at all to do with the operation of the iron.

Yes, it is a high price, but if you like these type of irons, then I believe that you would like this and not be disappointed. A really great iron.

    Well this is the business.
OK it’s relatively expensive, but you get a great product for your money.
The whole concept is well thought out and well designed, from the snazzy colour to storing it away.
Large tank….nearly 2 litres..just fill it with water, switch it on and off you go.
For ironing board use, its a breeze, it literally irons both legs of a pair of jeans all in one go. That’s a great time saver.
It handles any material without scorching and you can use it vertically to steam iron curtains, suits, coats etc.
Yes it uses a lot of electricity, but because of time saved, it actually saves in the long run.
The purple and black colour looks great and I particularly like the locking feature for storage….no more iron falling off the tank base!
I didn’t find it heavy and actually enjoyed ironing with it….yes really!

I have been using this Iron for the last few days and have been very impressed with the results from ironing, the quality of the iron and base unit, and on the durability of the lock. It has a pretty high rrp, but based on my experiences, this is very much worth it.

The Iron heats up quickly and the steamer function is very effective indeed, producing vast amounts of steam. Compared to other steam generated irons I’ve had in the past, this is by far the most effective. It has an automatic cut off it its not used for a while, and it cuts through creases in trousers, shirts, and even curtains very effectively indeed. Other good things about this Iron is that the handle is comfortable, the iron itself is solid without being too heavy to use, and the water level is very easy to read, so you can tell when you need to fill it up, and the iron itself is connected to the base via a durable thick cord meaning that it cannot go missing from the base. The cord also offers enough freedom of movement and is in no way restrictive. The plastic used in the base unit good quality, thick plastic and all buttons work well with simple clicks.

The lock device allows you to carry both the iron and base unit around as you would a briefcase, and also prevents the iron being knocked off the unit and causing an accident when in use, however this should only be applied when in use for very short periods of time. The purple design of the base and iron may not be to everyone’s taste but i personally found it to be modern, stylish and very eye catching, which I have never said about an iron and steam generator unit before.

Overall, this is a great iron and it really has improved my ironing experience tremendously. It works well, has a good safety feature and it looks superb. Highly recommended.

This is a superb iron with multiple features, especially that it heats up quickly, and it’s visually striking too. The reservoir tank holds 2 litres and is detachable which makes for easy filling; you can take the tank to a tap rather than a jug to the ironing board. It’s very light in use which makes using it less labour-intensive and it zips through even the thickest materials like denim as well as being gentle on more delicate materials.

There’s a temperature indicator dial which goes out when the desired temperature is reached, and it’ll also turn itself off if left unattended. The steam boost is very useful when dealing with stubborn creases and awkward areas. It heats up in less than a minute and so last-minute ironing is never a problem. It can also be used as a hand-held steamer which is especially convenient for suits, upholstery etc . To many people, the price would make this iron a considered purchase, but once you’ve used it, you’ll soon realise that it’s well worth the money. It’s expensive, but it’s excellent at what it does.

I write as a man with a fair experience of ironing but not much skill. I have been using team generators for about 10 years. I have had models by Philips and Tefal but not tried a Morphy Richards one before. I am very impressed with this iron. It is very powerful and well designed. The main thing – and this is the same for my Tefal – is that it is much easier to use than cheap or mid range irons and about twice as quick. Ironing is one of my least favourite chores and I will always recommend spending as much as you can afford on a really good one. This passes all my tests but it is not the only iron that does so.

    What a superb iron.

I’ve used similar ones form another brand before but this really ups the game.

Well made and finished in a good colour scheme.

The iron locks to the generator for transport and storage. The generator is easy to fill and has a long connecting hose and power cable.

Controls are simple enough with a number of individual steam settings. The sheer amount of steam this can pump out is amazing and makes short work of everything I have tried it on.

The overall size of the unit is reasonably compact but you do need a decent bit of space for setup and subsequent storage. That said its totally worth it.

The ceramic soleplate of the iron combined with the sheer strength of the steam output cuts through clothing without a second thought.

    Very good

This is an easy to use and incredibly stylish steam iron from Morphy Richards, a top brand in home products.

It comes well packaged and is so easy to set up. Simply fill the water tank, wait a couple of minutes and you’re ready to go. The iron itself is light and easily manouvreable, gliding across even the toughest creased clothing. It somehow knows how much heat and steam to generate and therefore there are no temperature controls as such. I love the purple and black colour scheme, it looks stylish and modern and both the iron, tank and associated cords feel well made and built to last. I would recommend this for busy households who do a lot of ironing as it’s convenient and really cuts down the amount of time doing this task. The only downside is that due to the power levels it does use more electricity than a standard iron. I have a smart meter and as soon as I turn the iron on it goes into overdrive, but the flip side is that although you use more power the iron is actually heated for less time. Overall you’ll probably only use a fraction more electricity. Due to the power levels, I would certainly recommend this for commercials use too as it makes ironing a breeze.

Well designed, stylish, easy to use and effective. Definitely worth purchasing

This is a well thought out iron, its of a large size and holds a large capacity of water. Its a bright and fun colour which I like. Easy to remove from box and set up, you can use tap water or deionised water. I used tap, so literally fill the tank and go. Unlike some other steam generated irons this one has a temperature gauge that you can choose the temperature you wish to use on your ironing. It can get a good temperature up and gives a really good flow of steam, there is also a booster steam button so you can literally steam away. Jeans were ironed lovely and took no time at all, and a really good test was a heavy weight cotton formal shirt which does take a high temp and alot of steam to get crease free but this was no challenge for this iron its was done in no time and amazingly well! I am truly really impressed by this iron and I don’t impress easily! Added safety features are that this iron is held in place when resting on the steam box by a lock so that it can’t fall off, this makes it safe to use around young children or animals. To store its also got a lock which holds the iron onto the plate so it wont slip off. This has been really well thought out by the manufacturer and I can happily recommend this to all. I have slipped one star off because it wont allow the use of water with any perfume in it, I usually in the past have used Comfort Water (or similar supermarket brands) and this can’t be used here. But thats literally my one and only gripe.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersFar superior to although larger than, as a combined unit, a standard steam iron this “Morphy Richards 332100 Pressurised Steam Generator, Purple and Black” is capable of so much more. It can cope with thicker fabrics such as both legs of a pair of jeans at once as easily as it can 8 or more layers of a folded sheet or a duvet cover. There is no thermostatic control as the steam has a fixed temperature and can never burn the lightest and most delicate of fabrics even if left in contact for several minutes, while you answer the door or a phone call etc. It is quite possible to remove creases from something without it needing to be in physical contact with the iron. These capabilities, according to Morphy Richards, help make it the market leading model.

An ironing board can be used but isn’t always necessary as it is possible to ‘iron’ an overcoat or suit on hangers or hanging curtains and drapes without the bother of taking them down and refitting. It can refresh clothing so that it can be worn a few times without the need to launder quite so often and is especially important with delicate fabrics. It can also refresh bedding and mattresses and the steam will effectively disinfect them, neutralise odours, and kill any bugs or their eggs that may exist by reaching deep within them (do not use with memory foam!).

It offers up to 7 bars of steam pressure by default with a boost equivalent to a total of around 300 pounds if required. It is rated at 2400 watts so heating the contents of its 2 litre tank within 2 minutes, about as long as it would need for a standard iron to reach its setting. The hose between the tank and the iron is sufficiently long to allow it to be placed on the floor or on a kitchen worktop behind without interfering with the ironing process. There is no need to have concern about use in hard water areas as it will effectively release any build-up of limescale and allow it to be poured away when the tank is emptied; where the water is unduly hard, demineralised water is an option. The easily detached tank need not be cool before emptying or refilling, and there is a warning light to show when a refill is due. The iron and base lock securely together for carrying and quite light to carry. Although not tiny, the combined unit can be kept in a broom cupboard or other large storage area.

The iron alone weighs just 400g and has a ceramic sole-plate that just glides across fabrics as if floating on air and no controls other than the steam boost button; it is therefore very light. There is no choice of colour although, as with certain other brands, individual models can have their own unique colourway. The 332100 is the most powerful model within their range, often featuring on the TV sales channels where it has proven very popular and has more than sufficient power to meet most domestic needs and probably more. Because of its capabilities, it is stated to reduce ironing times by more than half compared with a top-of-range steam iron.

Although a similar, if slightly lower-powered, steam generator iron from another brand had previously been used this seems to be the easier to use and appears to have the better sole-plate and a longer hose. Although possibly a considered purchase, it is about 30% lower in price than the nearest competing model from another brand; features are almost identical.
