The Mr Beams Motion-Sensing Light-Sensing Battery Powered LED Stair Light is part of the Mr Beams line of intelligent wireless LED lights. Had one for 4 years fitted in porch and it’s worked faultlessly, battery life has been excellent. Came back to buy another and thought I pass on my review.
Spot on piece of kit , ideal for the shed , perfect motion and stays on enough for what is needed
Tried many battery operated lights, none come close the sensitivity (only picks up humans, not trees in the wind) brightness and life on one set of batteries. Great product.
Uses good size batteries and should therefore last an awfully long time in the unit which is only active at night. No more feeling for the next step in the dark. I have it just 8″ high up on wall and is perfect.
Whilst compact this is a great little light – we wanted something to put over the front door so we could see the keyhole when returning after dark and this really does the trick. for such a small thing the light that comes from it is great and just perfect for what we needed it for.

I bought two of these battery lights and put outside to provide light between back door and log store. They, so far, have worked perfectly. I have set the switches in the lights to minimum time on and the Glow light option off. They take 3 C batteries which should last

Motion detection is great, so light not on all the time only when needed.
Bit fiddly to fit (holes for screws have to be drilled quite accurately) but once in place works perfectly. I’m just about to buy a second one!
Put this light up outside the front door and it’s being such a great product, it lights up what was a very dark drive way, highly recommended
Have had three of these lights lighting up some very dark steps outside my house for over five years now and still going strong.Just added another two to my pathway and they are still just as good. Mine are freestanding but they can be mounted. Batteries seem to last well in them, but if you use rechargeable ones, even better.

Exactly what I needed. Wanted a small light to place above our ring doorbell to illuminate when dark and to help when trying to unlock the door at night. Provides more than enough light without being too obtrusive. Battery seems to be holding up well so far too, and so I have no complaints and would definitely recommend this product.

These periodically along them I get clear sight of where the end gem of the steps are. They come in each for 20 seconds or so and this is great to save
Batteries and also give great light. I’ve screwed into wood and hang them securely at the angles needed.
I have now also put one in my shed and get great light when I enter to find what I need.

I bought this to light up the steps outside my house as there is shadow and at night its impossible to see the bottom step when you leave the house. I have used Mr Beams before on my driveway posts and they continue to be a great product for an external space. Would recommend and would buy again.
Works well on outside stair well. Illumination isn’t that bright but certainly sufficient to identify ten steps ahead. Good unit. Used screws to fix to wall.
Use on balcony when out for a smoke. Lights up area enough to see ashtray

Nice bright light. Thought at first that the motion sensor didn’t work, but after some jiggling, it now works just fine.
Easy to install.
Nothing amazing, but reasonable durable and bright. I was slightly disappointed to find that this only charges with type C batteries, rather than additionally or optionally through USB. But that’s a minor thing as the batteries seem to have lasted well without change for quite a few months.
Durability is good because it’s been out there in our drive over the winter and not had any problems.
Overall good value for money as a simple way to light up a drive or doorway without needing wiring.
This was well worth the money, nice bright light for a garden step. It’s about 4′ from front door and comes on when opening door and from the other side it’s about 12′ when it detects you. It may come on sooner but I have obstacles possibly blocking motion . I have it screwed to the fence about 6″from ground . It is nice and bright and illuminates the step perfectly
Use in porch to highlight keyhole. Works well but not as bright as I thought. Adhesion not great but can be screwed to wall. Bit fiddly to set on off time.

Great product have used it for a few months.Given adhesive a 3/5 as this needs to be screwed to the wall. The rest is perfect for a small area. The light detection is only 1 metre so really handy when you are looking for keys or a difficult to open door! Light strength is good

Have had other Mr Beams products for several years and can state that they are superb quality at an excellent price. Have no hesitation recommending this as I will be buying more and have already recommended to friends.
Always good for motion detection and light (had this make before). I have this sitting on a wall held by ornamental squirrel, as there is nowhere to mount it in this position. My last ones came with a steel shaft for garden verges but couldn’t find one this time.
Apart from needing a magnifying glass to read the instructions, this was really easy to fit and works perfectly. It does the job!

Brilliant little light. Ideal for small areas. Use my to light up my bin area in the rear garden. Comes on when I walk towards it. Goes off after a short while. Saving battery life.
Bought this to provide some light at the top of the steps down onto my lawn. Mounted it at about 18 inches off the ground so that it would be triggered by the dogs as well as by humans. It gives off a good light, enough to stop any trips. I thought it would eat batteries galore but nearly 11 weeks after setting it up it’s still going strong with the original batteries. It’s continued to work through heavy rain, wind and snow and I’m really impressed with it. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it or to buy another if I needed light in another area of the garden.
Item could easily be lifted off the mounting screws and stolen.
Bought for porch save getting electrician in. Is smaller than i thought (should of checked) but does exactly what i wanted at a fraction of cost of mains wired light.

I am very pleased with this product which I am using to illuminate the entry area of the front door. It has been rather dark because a tree obscures the street lights and it is inset by a metre or so. I was easy to set up and provides a first rate light.
Fantastic little light. Perfect for lighting up a dark entrance so that I can see to put my key in the lock.
Does exactly what I need it to do. Lights up a few steps at a time, brightness is perfect for my needs and switches off quickly as well. Also has a dim continuous on mode at night but I don’t use that. Batteries seem to last well, I use rechargeable ones.
Exactly what I needed. Fixed to a post facing in to my bedroom so that when my black cat sits on the window ledge to come in at night it comes on and I know it is there
Does the job of lighting the porch as the dark nights pull in.
Comes on as I get a couple of metres from it, only slight downside is that most of the light comes out forwards rather than downwards towards the key hole.
But still perfectly acceptable, especially if like me you don’t want the trouble of fitting a mains one up.
Perfect motion sensor light for our porch. My partners started working nights so I go this to place in the porch so that she can find the keyhole. It’s perfect and not too bright to light up the whole street.

Bought this for our front path which has a step that you can’t see in the dark. It is a great product and does what it is meant to do. The only issue I had was securing it to our stone wall but that’s probably more of an issue with our wall than the product itself
Bought this so I had a light outside the front door for when it was dark and trying to unlock toe door.
I have installed it in the porch ceiling and it works great. The brightness is just right for seeing the lock and being able to see and the motion detection us perfect.
Would highly recommend if like me you’re not wanting a mains connected security light.
I purchased these because I have had some of Mr Beams other products for several years and have found them to be very good particularly the battery life. The lights that I have just purchased are for lighting up steps and level changes in the garden. They work very well. As we have several cats going in and out of the house umpteen times per night, I wanted to reduce the number of times that they set off the lights. One way is to mount the lights fairly high but then the illumination at ground level is reduced. The other way that I found was to mask off the bottom half of the sensor with black adhesive tape. One point to mention is the small piece of white plastic film that is included. I could not imagine what this was for and it was only when I read the troubleshooting section of the instruction that it became clear – it is for sticking on the front of the light under the LED to reflect more light out. Surely this should have been in the installation instructions because I suspect most people only read the troubleshooting section when they are having problems. Apart from this small niggle the lights seem very good and I would expect to get at least a years worth of use out of the batteries
Easy to set up, not sure about ‘ motion detection’ as you seem to have to be quete close for the light to pick up. Still working on that. Well constructed with clear instructions.
Excellent. Bought so that people can see the steps up to house which are in the pitch black when dark. I have one near the bottom and top and they light the whole lot up brilliantly. Option to adjust the sensors (I left mine on the supplied settings) in the weather sealed battery compartment. So far the batteries have lasted since install (about 9-10 at writing) so impressed and bought another one for some other steps.

Can’t really comment on battery life because it’s only been up for a month, but in terms of fulfilling its function, motion detection and ease of installation this is an excellent piece of equipment which completely lives up to my high expectations of Mr Beams.

All ok so far. Comes on and off as it should. I take it out on my side wall at dusk for light when i go out for a ciggie when it gets dark. I bring it in before bed. Figure it will last longer this way.

Finally, one of these motion sensors that has the option of about a minute ‘on’ factor. Seems so many others run for 15-30 seconds, which is simply not long enough should you need to visit the toilet during the early night-time hours when dark.

Have bought these before and this was a replacement for a previous one. They don’t last forever but do last for about 3 years.4 stars because although I like then and they light the pathway they do not light up very brightly I am afraid to say.
Ideal light by front door, motion sensor works well and it is ideal to illuminate the door key slot.

Great solid feeling little light used by front door, casts just enough light and the sensor works great. If it has a minor fault I would prefer it to be screwed permanently to the wall, as it just hooks on two mounting screws and can be lifted off, but you wouldnt know this by looking at it.

This is the third one of their models that I’ve bought. Good concepts, and superb product design and quality. Their stuff simply works. Plain and simple.
They’re not rechargeable units, but a standard battery will last me ages for the amount of work it needs to do. And solar/rechargeable lights *will* fail after a few years – I prefer the simplicity and reliability.
Lots of similar devices only detect motion when in complete darkness, but this one seems to detect motion even if there is some light around.
Light is quite bright and sufficient to light up a small area, like a shed or a cupboard.
Main drawback is that the device is using bulky and heavy C batteries, as opposed to AA ones, meaning it’s quite heavy when the batteries are inserted, and therefore will need to be screwed to the wall, as opposed to just stuck.
Thought it would be brighter considering the size batteries it takes and the size of the unit…but the light it does give out is good…not too bright to make you squint when it turns on.
I baught the several of these lights to light my foot path as it is very dark at the side of the house. These lights are very responsive and work very well. The best thing is you do not need to run any cables you place the light where you want them. They are very easy to install and I highly recommend them. Item as described and fast delivery.

Great, did what they said on the tin. Not as bright as I would have liked but I used them to light an outdoor laundry room rather than steps so not what they were intended for. Really easy to install and worked straight away. Simples! 🙂
So much easier that hard wiring. Not too bright, but bright enough for access to our bins in the dark and casting light in our shed.
