Initially mounted this on a beam above the car in the garage using only two screws. Though it held, I eventually mounted it on the wall using all four mountings.
The light works well, only coming on when there is insufficient daylight. Bright enough for the purpose. It is sensitive enough and turns off shortly after leaving the area. Be interesting to see how long the batteries last with my pattern of usage.
We fitted this in our porch under the overhang. It works really well. It takes the larger batteries so it will last a long time before they need replacing. They are in the dry although the porch is open to the elements. It shows up the front door area and lock very clearly. The motion sensor also works really well.

Die Leuchte ist in unserem Kellerabteil (Mehrparteienhaus) eingesetzt.
Die allgmeine Keller-Beleuchtung ist dort zu schwach und wir knnen keine “normale” strombetriebene Lampe einsetzen, sodass nur eine batteriebetriebene Lsung in Frage kam.
Nach Entfernen des Bgels fr das deaktivieren des Helligkeitssensors funktioniert die Leuchte jetzt nur auf Bewegung und damit fr unseren Zweck wirklich einwandfrei.
Die Helligkeit der Leuchte ist sehr gut!
FAZIT: Etwas teuerer als Vergleichmodelle, aber besser! Empfehlenswert!
Wichtig: die 4 groen Batterien sind nicht im Lieferumfang enthalten!
Die Deckenleuchte ist super, war leicht anzubringen und springt sofort nach Eintritt in unsere Holzhtte,
fr die die Leuchte vorgesehen war, an.
In meinem dunklen Eingangsbereich habe ich eine batteriebetriebene Deckenleuchte bentigt. Mich har zwar erst der Preis dieser Lampe anfangs etwas abgeschreckt, bin jedoch sehr zufrieden damit. Endlich kein weiteres Stromkabel verziehen. Das Licht ist sehr hell, eher weilich. Der Bewegungsmelder funktioniert super. Schaltet nach ca. 20 Sekunden automatisch ab. Er hat auch einen Helligkeitssensor. Somit schaltet er sich an, wenn es “leicht schummrig” wird drauen. Benutze die Lampe seit nun fast 3 Wochen und bin wirklich zufrieden damit. Das montieren war ebenfalls sehr einfach. Bei mir war es an einer Holzdecke, also ohne Dbel. Bis jetzt halten auch noch die ersten Batterien. Die Lampe kommt jedoch auch sehr oft abends zum Einsatz. Von dem her lass ich mich mal berraschen.
Nachtrag nach fast einem Jahr in Gebrauch:
Nach wie vor bin ich sehr zufrieden. Gestern habe ich das erste mal die Batterien gewechselt. Das ist echt stark. Der Gang in dem die Lampe ihre Dienste leistet ist ein Durchgangsbereich der betreten werden muss, mchte man ins Obergeschoss. Das heit, die Lampe ist im Dauereinsatz, sobald es schummrig wird. Auch wenn etwas teurer als andere Lampen. Sie ist ihr Geld wert.

Really impressed with this unit. I have put it overhead on the front porch. Really tremendous brightness, and excellent sensitivity provided there are no bright light nearby. Battery life was mentioned by a number of reviewers as a problem. I have had to change the battery set once and I’m very happy with battery life for this kind of occasional use.
Great little light. We have one in the shed and one in the garden as have no power out there and it does just the job. Quite bright. Just wish it stayed on for a few minutes longer. Other great.

First off il admit i didnt buy this for its intended purpose.
These are motion sensor lights used for lighting up as and when people walk close by.
I purchased these as a temporary ceiling lighting solution for my gym which is 16x8ft.
Upon fitting this light the brightness was fantastic and lit up the whole room very well the only problem being is there was no switch or setting to keep the light on and on one side of the room must have been a blind side for the sensor as whenever i went there an automatic timer came on and switched the light off after 20 seconds. So not ideal for what i needed but as a motion sensor light these are very bright and work well.
Ich habe mir diese batteriebetriebene LED Deckenleuchte (MrBeams) angeschafft, da unser Duschbereich sehr dunkel war. Auerdem ist keine Stromleitung in diesem Bereich vorhanden, weshalb ich mich fr eine batteriebetriebene LED entschieden habe. Die MrBeams LED erfllt voll und ganz seinen Zweck. Besonders der Bewegungsmelder ist klasse, sobald ich die Tre der Dusche ffne, geht die Lampe an – sehr komfortabel! Die Helligkeit ist absolut fr den Zweck ausreichend. Der Preis ist meiner Meinung nach etwas zu hoch, deswegen gibt es dafr einen Punktabzug. Trotzdem klare Kaufempfehlung!

Couldn’t get power to my garage, so this is the perfect solution. Easy to install and does the job.
Versand war zgig, Montage sehr einfach. Man muss eben die Batterien vorher kaufen, es seine keine dabei, aber da es die dicken sind, ist das auch in Ordnung.
Habe die im Eingangsbereich hingehngt. Sobald jemand den Eingang betritt oder die Treppe herunterkommt, geht sie sofort an und das in einer tollen Helligkeit. 40 Euro ist ein satter Preis, aber bisher stimmt die Qualitt, daher kann ich nichts negatives sagen. Hat auch eine ordentliche Gre, das haben die meisten Lampen die mit Batterien laufen nicht.
Easy to install. You will only need to screw it on once and then it’s battery operated, which makes life easier. Don’t yet know how often battery would need to be changed but overall it’s a good light for the money. I would probably say it’s more suitable for porches and similar areas not very exposed to various impacts of the harsh weather as it’s made from plastic. Sensor seems to be ok too.

Superb illumination and very easy to fix in place, albeit more appropriate rail plugs are required as the unit is quite heavy when the 4 D-batteries are installed.
This has been worth it’s weight in gold. We have a door to the garage from the house but the builders installed the two light switches as far away from the door as possible! Consequently in winter you need a torch to get to a light switch. With this light positioned above the door we have light as soon as we step into the garage, we needn’t worry about forgetting to switch it off or grope our way back in the dark. Brilliant.

I’m currently using this light under the stairs and it’s perfect. It’s a bit bigger than I expected but easy to fit and emits a super bright ice white light which illuminates everything really well. It’s easily bright enough for a small shed or porch light. The motion sensing works flawlessly and as it turns off automatically after 20 seconds, I would imagine the batteries will last a long time.

This light works brilliantly. It takes 4 D-sized batteries which makes it rather heavy (and therefore needs to screwed to a wall rather than stuck).
It looks good, but when it’s up you don’t really notice it until it turns on, emitting a bold, bright, ice white light – more than enough to walk down the hallway to the bathroom, or to unlock the front door and get inside. Every visitor who has experienced it switching on in the night has commented on what a useful light it is, eliminating the need for finding light switches. One workman even requested that I sent him the product link so he could get one for his home!
As a cost-saving side note: having this light also means I don’t leave the main hallway light on overnight because I no longer need to.
Pros:
– Battery powered. No need to run cables outside of the thermal envelope of the building, risking draughts and moisture problems in the long run.
– Bright. You won’t be reading War and Peace by this light, but it’s certainly enough to find door keys at the bottom of a bag, or clearly see the face of a visitor.
– Subtle design. Some ceiling bulkheads look very industrial, whilst the curves of the Mr. Beams blend in nicely with the white porch ceiling, and don’t attract the eye.
Cons:
– Supplied screws are made from ‘Chinesium’, the softest steel known to man. Do yourself a favour and chuck them straight in the bin and use from decent screws and plugs of your own.
– Sensor only turns on the light once you’re within 2m of the device, rather than the 5m advertised. This may be due to the height at which it is mounted (2.1m), but is disappointing none-the-less.
– Batteries are not included. 4 D-cell batteries won’t break the bank, but it would be nice to see some included in a 30 device.
Battery life remains to be seen, but seems adequate thus far. I’m happy with the purchase, and would certainly buy again. However, I might wait for a sale, as the 30 price tag is a bit steep. 20 would represent very good value, 30 is expensive for a light that doesn’t come with batteries included.

Simplicity itself to fit the base to a surface and then you fit four large D batteries and click it all together. Batteries seem to last for ages – and it gives out 300L of light – well diffused. Almost too bright for a cupboard – I use mine as a porch light. It all works well and I highly recommend.
I’ve got several Mr Beams lights, of the large ones which are the successor to this one, i have two in the basement as you cant switch on the lights from the outside door, and i installed them to give me enough light to park my bike when arriving home in the dark. These are reasonably bright and provide enough light to see by. at the same time the batteries are reasonably long lasting, so i only have to take out for a recharge every few months.
this new model is somewhat brighter and uses 4 AA batteries, so i’d hope the battery life will remain long. Ive installed it in my porch to provide some light when coming home in the dark. It provides plenty of light in that situation and is not actuated accidentally, nor prevented from working by light coming through the door glass.
So all in all, doing what i need very well.
The downsides are that this is looking a little dated as technology. The design is good enough, but not specially attractive or stylish. It is powered by 4 AA batteries. I choose to use NiMh rechargeables (NB no batts supplied), but it means i have to remove it from the wall, unscrew the back , take out the batteries and charge them, and then reassemble. Why not supply them with lithium Ion batteries built in and USB charging? The brightness is OK but modest, why not up the lighting power to give the equivalent of a domestic light? Why not employ some designers to put together a more contemporary looking product?
So like the school report, good progress but could do better…
PS having installed this as a porch light, I am impressed just how bright this new version is, giving as much light as you could conceivably need there. Easily enough to find your keys and you could probably read the paper (necessary if waiting for someone to come open the door for you in my house).
We are using this motion-sensing light in our garage, and it turns on as soon as we open the door about 8 feet away.
We have mounted it on the ceiling, but it could also be mounted on a wall. It was a job that took less than 5 minutes for my husband.
The light is pretty bright considering its battery powered, and it creates a good pool of light within the whole garage space (a larger than normal sized double, which is wider, longer and higher than standard. We no longer have to turn on the main strip lights to go in and get items out of the car or to get the salt for our water softener.
The casing is bright white, so it is unobtrusive and blends in well. The lens cover is a frosted effect. It looks smart and functional when installed and we like it as its easier than using the main lights. If we have a power cut, we also will still have sufficient light to see what we are doing, which is an added bonus.

I live in the middle of the rural countryside and i have no street lights so when i come home i am always stumbling to find my keys in the dark. I have a storm porch so i just screwed this to the ceiling.
A few things, the included screws are absolute garbage, i used a manual philips head screwdriver and the heads just stripped and i had to use a screw extractor to get it out. Once i used my own screws it was easy.
You unscrew the round base plate and screw with 4 screws. Then on the underside of the base unit is a plastic screw, you take this out and unlock the unit to insert the batteries. There is a small plastic insert that you can take out if you want to turn the sensor off.
The light came on easily and goes off after 20 seconds. The motion sensor only works in the dark, if there is any ambient light close to the unit the sensor won’t go off.
I had to buy 4 D batteries to test this, i got Duracell ones which cost me just over 7 pounds so you need to factor that into your costs. I do not expect the batteries to run out before a year has passed but if they do i will update my review.
Always good quality Mr Beams, and this product is no different. Easy to install, battery operated, very powerful light, with good motion sensor range. Given the expected battery life, excellent value, and perfect for installing outside back doors, or carports/garages etc.
I needed a motion sensor light near the front door and this works perfectly. It gives out just enough light to havigate the dark car park behind the house and avoid fiddling with the door lock at night. The light requires 4 x D batteries which I am expecting would not need changing for a considerable amount of time. The light is easy to afix and all parts for it are included in the box.
I have a few Mr Beams lights and I’ve not been disappointed with them yet.
Bear in mind this does require 4 x D size batteries, but I used plastic adapters that take up to two AA rechargeable cells each. I know they won’t last as long but it’s cheaper in the long run.
I needed a light for under the stairs – the light fitting that was already there is one of those odd-ball low energy ones, which blew out. I’ll replace it eventually but in the mean time I wanted something quick and dirty in the meantime.
Sensor works well and the light is okay, but don’t kid yourself that you’re going to be reeling back, blinded. It’s about as bright as a bicycle lamp, so it should give you enough light to navigate but “daylight” this is not.
Pretty easy to fix to the wall, all screws and rawl plugs provided,. Honestly, it’s probably good enough I’ll not get around to replacing the original fitting.
I have put this in my back porch, which is so dark in the winter, yet an essential space as we mainly use the back door, keep our shoes there, the dog lead and all other family junk! The only light has been from the kitchen which has been a nightmare and I kept meaning to do something about it! This is ideal. It’s not too tricky to fit and my husband found it easy enough with use of a drill. In terms of lighting, it’s bright and comes on as soon as near the sensor. I have only been using it for a week so it’s too early to comment with accuracy on the battery life, but I’ve no reason to doubt the views of other reviewers. Highly recommended!
The only problem I had setting this up was taking it apart. Don’t forget to remove the big white plastic headed screw from the rear before you try and get to the battery tray.
You will also need 4 x ‘D’ sized cells which will cost you another 6.50 or so.
Once these are fitted the fitting is quite heavy and it does come with screws and rawlplugs if required (if fitting in a shed or other wood constructed location, make sure the screws are not too long and go right through the roof causing a leak.
It has a link that can be removed should you wish to disable the light level sensor (it only normally lights when the light level is low).
With the 4 x ‘D’ cells I expect it to keep working for over a year, perhaps more (that of course will depend on how often it comes on).
Very versatile as it can be positioned almost anywhere you can screw the integrated fixing in. Unlike the Mr Beams floodlights, this is more suited to use as a ceiling or wall light in spaces such as large cupboards or closets, a garage or shed, for example. Though it can be, I would not use this as an outside light.
Flexible, easy to position and install and giving a good if not overly bright light. Great for my shed!
I’ve got a few other Mr Beams products around the house and have found them to be well designed and useful. This LED Ceiling Light is well up to their usual standard, and it actually works better than I had expected, with it’s weatherproof housing – built to IPX4 standards – making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor locations. Rated at 300 Lumens the light takes 4 D size batteries, which are not provided, and it is bright enough to see clearly when there is no other light source. The light can be permanently ceiling or wall mounted, by using the screws provided, or more easily it can just be placed on any surface where it might be needed temporarily. This light could be ideal for hallways, cupboards and landings, or in a child’s bedroom perhaps, and it works as it should after it gets dark. Well designed and practical this battery-powered motion-sensing light makes a good addition to my collection of Mr Beams products and is recommended to anyone needing a compact battery-powered night-light with the motion sensing feature. Currently around thirty pounds from Amazon this wireless light provides an easy solution to lighting an area without mains power available — and is a much cheaper option than employing an electrician to come and fit a mains powered light for you.

We have quite a few Mr Beams lights around our house – they are durable and effective and very easy to install.
This light is about the size of a soup bowl and takes 4 D cell batteries. It comes with everything you need to install it to pretty much any wall or ceiling via a bayonet fit backplate. Once you have fixed the plate you then install the batteries and clip it to the ceiling or wall. It should only take a few minutes.
There is a light and motion sensor so that the light will be triggered by motion during darkness and switch off 20 seconds after the motion ceases. If you are mounting it in a room with too much ambient light and want the light to come on during the day then you can remove a part inside to disable the light sensor so it will trigger any time movement is detected.
I can testify that the claims of long battery life are correct – using decent batteries we are getting a very long life between changes. Compared to the cost and inconvenience of having mains powered lights installed these make a very good alternative.
Overall I am very impressed with this light. It looks good and works very well.
This light was easily fitted to a wooden piece in the roof of my shed, I only used two screws. Powered by 4 x D cells, I was surprised and pleased by how well it lit the shed.
Drawback: There is no adjustment for how long the light is lit. You have to keep moving or you’re in the dark.
Living in a semi-rural location, streetlights are few and far between, so this LED ceiling light from Mr Beams is perfect for providing some very welcome extra light outside our front door. Not only convenient, it adds a layer of protection too.
Very easy to install, no wiring needed, but it does run on 4 x D type batteries which are not supplied. They should last a reasonable amount of time … you can remove the light sensor if there is too much ambient light.
Reasonably attractive design and should wipe clean.

This light is fantastic. A lot brighter than I expected for a battery operated light and makes gathering logs and peat from my woodshed a lot easier than using a torch. Feels very good quality and easy to install. Only recently installed it so cannot make any comment on battery life but using 4 x”D” type cells I assume it would be fairly long.

I didn’t want to wire up a full outside light.
I have used solar & battery powered lights before they are weak or don’t last long. I was pleasantly surprised by how bright this light is I’m using rechargeable batteries with it.
My plan is to recharge them once a month, but I think I could go a bit longer between charges.
The light does dim when the battery begins to lose charge so you get plenty of warning before it cuts out. Everyone in the family is happy with how bright it is!

Just so people know, my first set of batteries has only lasted two months but I do use the light in an area which is triggered over ten times a day maybe twenty. Even at that it would only cost 20 a year to run using Amazon Basic batteries.

Really bright and stays on for short amount of time, so batteries should last quite a while. It takes 4x D Batteries, easy to fit, just what I needed for our porch.
A little expensive but is of high quality and very sturdy, overall very good value for money.

Wer kennt das nicht, man ist auf der Suche nach einer Lampe fr die Garage. Doch diese verfgt leider ber keinen Stromanschluss.
Sollte man doch auf die ein oder andere Batteriebetriebene Lampe stoen, hat die eine Helligkeit wie eine Handyleuchte.
Doch endlich bin ich auf MRBeams Lampe gestoen (300lumen ) , sie fllt die Garage gut mit Licht, und der Bewegungssensor reagiert prima.
