They work. No denying it. But the software and operating system is so sketchy you can almost guarantee an issue every time you open the app. The cameras are not HD quality at all. They take ages to load when selected from the list. If they load at all. I would not rely on them for security because it’s likely they will fail. Watching pets and stuff they are ok. But again there is seemingly always a slow load or fail to load. You also need to subscribe to get the decent playback storage so for security purposes, you’ll need the subscription.
I have four of these in various locations for an elderly dog. So I can check on him. But I wouldn’t want it covering the drive to protect the car.
Perfect for our hedgehog. Great night vision but I did find some days it takes a good out to go from night vision to colour in day light. We paid the small fee on the app to get more footage saved and I fully recommend it as its great to watch hours of playtime my hedge has while we sleep.
I’ve now got a second one gifted to me by a friend as they know how much I loved it and wanted one for my bearded dragon.
Great to fit in a 4ft vivarium
As of a couple of days ago (Jan 31-ish) this camera began working with Alexa again – it last worked back in October 2021 and while Neos were aware of the issue, it still took ages to fix. During that time Alexa would just say “Hmm, the camera isn’t responding”.
So one afternoon the camera clicked a few times and rebooted, presumably as a result of a pushed firmware update – it wasn’t something I initiated.
Checked with Alexa – working.
Not a bad little camera and useful for the odd peek at something remote, but is somewhat limited by its proprietary nature (no IP access, for example).
We bought a pair (get 2 at least) before we went to Spain. They are really sensitive and the app alerts you to any movement, sound or light change. We had builders in and told them about the cameras (legally you must) and they were cool about it.
Great too for keeping an eye on the little ones when playing upstairs or even watching the bird table to see who is nicking the bird food (it was the squirrel). Also good for keeping an eye on elderly relatives.
You have a live stream, audio and it records when triggered. You get a basic 10 sec recording for free but can subscribe for more. Beware it can eat up your data!
You can also talk through them to people in the room.
Overall great security cameras.
After a frustrating 3 months, as of 20 Jan 2022 Alexa integration is now back up and running and working again on my Show and firestick devices. This was a major issue for many but am now happy. Hopefully it wont happen again.
This camera was excellent with great image quality day and night and exceptional motion detection. Unfortunately since 04/10/2021 firmware update, the camera no longer streams to any Alexa device or Alexa smart tv app. Come on NEOS, it does not take this long to sort out a major issue like this. I feel you do not care and are not bothering to attempt to fix it as you have since done another firmware update and didn’t sort it. You also have not provided any status updates since Oct 4th. The Amazon product listing is now falsely misleading in stating that it WORKS WITH ALEXA as it DOES NOT ANYMORE!. I was considering getting additional camera’s, but now have to look at rival products that do what they say. Please sort this ASAP or you will lose all of your customers!
Update – Since 20th January the streams are back. Reinstated the 5 star rating
I bought this to use with Alexa and it stopped 3 months ago. And still no fix.
So not fit for purpose
I bought this so I could monitor/keep an eye on my parrot whilst I am away from the house. App downloaded and the camera was very easy to set up. The parrot is in the kitchen so the magnetic base allowed me to rest the camera on the microwave without concerns of it being knocked off. The day and night quality is very, very good and I can zoom in and out easily using the screen on my mobile. Am able to get a good viewing span too as his cage is pretty big and I also wanted to use the camera for security on the back door. Everything fits in nicely. Was so pleased with it, I have also bought one of these for my daughter to use in her room at university. There’s a useful setting that allows you to set a perimeter around the place/property the camera is being used at so once you’re outside of this it will automatically set the motion detector alert for you (saves it constantly going off whilst you’re in the room). I cant get this to work (hence the 4 stars), but my daughters works ok so I’m guessing its something I could be doing wrong. Great little camera for the money though and will be buying another for the other end of the kitchen. 🙂
This camera is easy to set up, gives a great picture and alerts you to movements. Great for pet watching or even home security
These cameras are ok but they are falsely being sold as compatible with Alexa devices but the cameras no longer support Amazon devices, the company have not responded as to why they no longer support for the past few months
I purchased one and was so pleased with it that I ordered a second. A neat and brilliant piece of kit at a reasonable price.
Camera is very adequate for the price, easy to setup and works reasonably well for the I tended purpose.
The 2 way audio can often be hit and miss and the app needs closing properly fairly often to reconnect quickly but otherwise if does the job, alerts when the dog walker turns up or if there’s commotion in the lounge caused by doggies
Good little camera but night vision not that good when placed inside through window, whether it’s on Auto, Night vision on or Night vision off. It suggests in the instructions that if behind glass switch night vision off as light from camera will reflect.
Makes no difference vision on camera not good at night. Probably better fixed to external wall.
Day time very good at picking up movement & sound. Picture quality is very good.
Also viewing on mobile very good. Alarm alerts when picking up motion or sound whether you’re in the house or out.
Overall pretty good for my needs.
It is compact, easy to install and use. You can set it so it detects noise and motion and only records then, and set noise thresholds for recording, as well as specific areas of the room where you want the camera to activate itself.
It has night vision and built in speakers too, which is great.
In order to record continuously, you have to buy the subscription, which is 2.5 pounds per month. But I find that it is quite affordable and good value for money as is. Otherwise, it only records 12 second clips every couple of minutes if activated by noise or motion.
The app is not the best, it has some performance issues and a weird interface, but you get used to it and it gets the job done.
Picture quality is brilliant. Motion detector is spot on. Night vision works well. Sadly can’t be pointed outside at night through a window as the infer-red reflects on the window. App is easy to use. Clips are short but can be extended for a small fee.
I love these cameras I have 4 all together and there brilliant, the video quality is so HD you can’t even tell its on a camera…everything is connected to my phone aswell I get notifications of movement, sound and it records 1 min bursts if u pay for the app if you want it all free it does 12 second recordings whenever there is movement…u can also press the record button at anytime and it will keep recording until unpress it. It has talk back on it so for example the 1 in my daughters room I can talk to her through it if I’m downstairs and she’s in bed, she can also talk back to me on it if the speak button is pressed. Night vision is excellent standard too, ypu can press a button to take a photo of the image ypu seeing at any time or choose to further record as for the price well you can imagine I highly recommend these cameras. I have 3 facing out side covering all main angles of my house and it makes me feel alot safer. Comes with all leads, and very east to install.
These cameras are really great to keep an eye on things where you need to. They are indoor cameras, so bear that in mind for where you want to cover, I’m using one in the Garage, a conservatory and in the hallway, this means they get a good range of footage and the night vision works well.
Do not try and have the cameras looking out of a window if you are planning on using the night vision as the infrared just reflects and ruins the picture. If outside is lit (street lights or security lamps) then you dont need the night mode anyways its better to stick in normal mode as it will capture more detail.
Setup is easy and the wifi range is also good, I have the cameras a good 15-20 metres away from the router and they connect.
Be aware there can sometimes be a delay in the cameras activating and you being able to view them using the app, but this is just the nature of the internet and sending video .
I’ve had a lot of issues with cameras in the past. I have a small shop so want the peace of mind that any smashed windows or burglaries or problems will be caught on film. The app is easy to use, and I signed up quickly and relatively easily. There is a great picture quality- I was suprised with how good it was, actually. Even in night, the picture is clear and easy to see. The camera is a great price and I’ll be getting a second one soon so that all angles are covered. I love that they have audio, so you can hear things going on as well as seeing it. I’ve screenshotted images of the night vision and in the light. I love the notifications you get with the subscription (and at about 2.50/month, that is a price I’m happy to pay)., although the free version is fine too. App is easy to use and navigate. Motion detection (with subscription) is handy, although very sensitive, so cars driving past triggers it all the time. But thats my only niggle with it. All in all, i definitely recommend this camera for home or business use.
Bought as recommended by a friend.
Really impressed with the cameras that I even bought a further 2 more for my parents.
Cameras are inside at the moment, although I have purchased the outside bracket separately, and picture is still okay day and night despite glare from the window.
Setup was relatively easy, although detecting the QR code seemed to take forever with one of the cameras and users can be added.
The only downside I have found is that there is a slight delay in motion detecting coming through as a notification and I have also not found if you can turn the notifications off as of yet meaning it goes off all the time. Also reg plates are not all that clear, not sure if this will improve when outside and the wire provided is not very long meaning I need to purchase another to put this outside.
When these little Neos arrived in their Apple inspired packaging I knew I had made the right decision. I had previously used Apeman cameras which were pretty good, but broke after about two years. They were also costing me 10 a month for cloud service (5 per camera)
When I was looking for replacements, I noticed very few cameras on Amazon said how much the cloud service was. I posted questions asking how much. I got some replies, but all were very cagey and didn’t answer the simple question – how much! This made me suspect the answers may have been made by a company rep.
So when I saw these BRITISH MADE cameras, with free – albeit limited to 12 seconds clips to the cloud, they seemed to answer all of my requirements. Best of all there was a website – a proper website with photos and answers and SUPPORT.
Neos offer something called BOOST which increases the recordings to a minute, with 12 hours of saved cloud recordings per day. (There are also some additional features). The cost? 2.49 per month – for up to 3 cameras. That’s quite a saving on my previous cameras. 2.49 is the cost of a coffee.
Set up was really easy. Plug in. Download the App. You need to input your WiFi password, Follow 3-4 instructions and it takes less than 5 minutes and you’re away.
Additionally I purchased a casing to put one in my drive. I am not sure if these are supposed to go outside, but we have some bad weather coming up and I’ll update if I have any issues or not. I purchased an extension lead for the USB B micro (recommend going for a flat cable similar to the supplied one) which cost me 10. The outside housing cost 6 and additional 32gb SD card – 10. Total cost for an outside camera – 56.
What surprised me further were the sheer amount of options you can give each camera via the app. Zoning, sensitivity, timings, limiting the area within the image seen that is active – great for my driveway as some branches kept setting it off. Even turning off the little rear green light.
You can even add additional people to view the images as well- this was a feature not available on my apeman cameras. If you are in the process of being burgled, then you have two chances of being alerted (the phone vibrates if there is movement in front of the camera).
So finally – are they any good? I was a bit disappointed initially as the images looked a little out of focus, but this clicked out after a few minutes and then the images were very clear. Enough to read a number plate a few meters away. These are 1080p, not ultra high def, but certainly very clear images.
So all in all, I’m really impressed with these neat little boxes of tech. You can buy with confidence knowing the company are looking out for you. Great cost, full support and cameras that actually do what they’re supposed to do.
Been using these camera for a few years now. They are great. I have some update for feedback.
1. SD Card of 64GB used to work in early 2020. With a firmware update, it only accepts the card if I reformat to 32GB (with the rest unformatted). I’ve lost double the recording space now.
2. Another camera was making a clicking sound. Found out this was due to the camera failing to write to SD card. It would be nice to get a warning in the app with an error. I ended up fixing the issue by re-formatting a 32GB sd card and restarting the camera.
3. If would be useful if you could see the local recording on the SD from the app. Currently I have to take the sd card out and then plug into a laptop to backup the video and watch it.
Great little camera and very good for the price image quality is quite good also however the app could do with some improvement.
We bought this security camera so that we could keep an eye on who was coming and going to our house, even when we weren’t there. It works very well picture quality is good. We did find with the night vision we couldn’t make out a car number plate clearly enough to be able to rear it. Apart from that great security camera.
These cameras are brilliant, day and night, zoom, motion and sound detection, notification pop ups, the system auto arms/unarms as well from your location settings. I’ve had three of these in my house for six months and I would have no problem recommending them to family and friends.
Negative points, the sound detection is sensitive even with the sensitivity turned down it will pick up passing cars, neighbours doors etc, I’ve found if you turn the audio detection off it solves the issue, and tbh you don’t really need the sound recorded, if you get a visual movement notification you can remotely switch the audio on and talk through your camera via your phone anyway. Sometimes sun light or car lights can trigger a visual notification as well, this can be negated by placing boundaries around these areas to ignore them, and the system will still record regardless.
Apart from that, there is nothing not to like about theses, I’m not sponsored or gifted by the company, these where purchased with my own money and I’m definitely glad I did.
An excellent little device that’s easy to set up and works really well, with geo setting making it “fit and forget”. Default sound and motion settings are very sensitive, so need tweaking to get right for each installation, and unless you subscribe, video clips are only 12s long. Notifications are quick, however, and you can switch to “Live View” to see what’s triggered it.
Fairly easy to set up but the app is telling me that I’m at home even when I’m out. Good picture quality and sound.
I discovered this after reading about a wyze cam which is currently a lot more expensive on Amazon.
Having read the specifications I realised this is pretty much the same cam but run by a different company. So expect the same video quality like 1080p recording which is what I was after.
First of all, it was easy to set up, all you need is a phone that can run apps (Android in my case) and WiFi internet connection. The camera comes with an illustrated manual which takes you through every step flawlessly.
I have previously owned the expensive ring cameras and to be fair this performs just as well and in some cases even better. First of all, it’s powered with a cable not batteries, this one is subjective but I prefer it to run via wired connection because I don’t have to constantly worry about forgetting to charge the battery every 1-2 weeks which after a while can become a nuisance.
I’ve decided to use the adhesive included in the box to attach the camera high on the wall (this is another great option for living in a flat you don’t own as you don’t have to worry about drilling etc).
The fuel of view is good it just about covers my entire room. The motion sensor picks up most major movements including myself my co-tenant and my pet cat, and you can access a live feed anytime so long both your phone and device is connected. Oh, you also don’t have to be connected to the same WiFi at all times. I can launch live feed from work and see how my cat is doing.
The camera also sends audio so you can also speak through it. For example, I caught my cat scratching the sofa so I enabled the audio option and shooed him away (he was soooooo confused)
I have recently moved to a new ground floor flat and for extra protection decided to install this camera indoors to be fully aware if anyone moved in.
I’m renting, therefore, installing a full alarm system is too expensive for a place I don’t even own and since I have pets I don’t have to worry about alarm motion sensors going off because my cat decided to run a marathon.
I saw a few people complaining about having to provide all kinds of sensitive information. I tend to avoid giving all my info but in here there was an option to skip it. Perhaps they have updated that since? Either way, I only provided what I was comfortable with.
I’d highly recommend getting it, especially if you need it to run I doors.
(I am an owner of multiple Nest cameras (indoor and outdoor) as well as Amazon Blink Cameras and have been using NEOS Smart cameras for over 6 months.)
The cameras themselves are very well made and seem great quality. Camera comes complete with USB power supply, cable, camera, metal wall plate and sticker and a warning window sticker.
Out of the box you need to setup the camera using software that is available on apple and google stores. The setup itself is extremely simple and once you enter wifi details into phone or tablet you will be shown a barcode. Just point the camera at the barcode and setup is complete. you can then name camera etc and update firmware.
The quality of image is excellent and rivals the Nest cameras. (The 1080p ones, not the Nest 4k) There is clearly a lot of compression going on but it’s not enough to take away from the cameras purpose. They record at 1080p and can be set to send video at a lower quality 720p if required. Night recording is also Excellent quality thanks to the built in UV lights. (Outdoor night picture attached)
The software allows you to set movement zones, alarms, playback footage and adjust things like video quality, motion and sound sensitivity etc. You can even live view or take video and pictures if you want to. It does offer the ability to record your voice and talk to the camera but the speaker in the camera is small and weak so don’t expect to much.
The cameras will trigger on movement and 12 second recordings are available for review. You also will get alerts sent to your phone/tablet. These can be a little annoying in busy areas but you can configure and adjust sensitivities and only alert based on zones etc.
NEOS offer a subscription service. At time of writing for 2.50 a month you can upgrade to 1 minute recordings and much more configuration options such as automated arming. On the agreement it states that this subscription covers 3 cameras however I have not been charged and have 4 with full service. There is a message on website (Nov 2020) that they are not enforcing the 3 camera limit at this time but may in future.
If you are installing multiple cameras in same room then you can use the USB port on the back of the unit to power second camera (up to 3 can be daily chained) to limit the number of sockets required. This is very useful for multiple angles in same room.
The camera has a micro SD card slot and if you decide to add one (Max 32GB) it will locally record in a round robin way deleting oldest recordings. This is very useful in that you can view the short clips on the NEOS app but also see all footage if you should need to. Just remember it overwrites depending on the size of SD card you install. You have to remove the cards to review the footage at this time. Neos have hinted that they will allow remove retrieval but don’t rely on this.
The cameras themselves are exactly the same as Wyze cameras. You cannot re-flash them to be Wyze cameras without significant technical know how and difficulty however you don’t really need to.
The cameras are for indoor use. I have however recently purchased an outside cover for the camera. Whilst the outdoor case itself is only slightly weatherproof with a little silicon I think it will hold up OK. For the low cost of these cameras I think it’s worth the risk.
Overall I think the Neos Smart cameras are excellent value for money and even after upgrading to the subscription service. Neos themselves are part of the AVIVA group so considered relatively safe from a privacy perspective and the cameras themselves are based on a proven and trusted platform.
I think for indoor usage it offers better value for money over Nest products. Blink cameras would also serve as an alternative however the subscription service on these from Amazon is not clear at time of writing this review. Either way. If you are looking for a cheap 1080p camera for the home I think you should look at the Neos Smartcam.
Nice looking cameras, not bad picture, the app isn’t the best and fairly basic with no option to disable the mic. Arrived very quickly.
Great – easy to use but you can only hear what is being said if you’re close to the camera
We are using this as a baby monitor and it works great with the Alexa show and a iPad the night vision is very good. It saves clips to the app so you can replay them later on. It also has a two way audio feature so you can talk back through a built in microphone and motion detection.
I love this! I bought it to keep an eye on my new cat during the night and discovered that he climbs up on the tops of the kitchen units once I’ve gone to bed! I love the way that I can shout at him to get down through the built-in two-way microphone (not that he takes any notice).
Like many, I purchased a Nest a few years back for lots of money – this is great BUT a few annoyances is that it doesn’t detect or record motion at night when dark AND there is an error message most times when I try to playback a recording, I hae to try many times to do this which defeats the object … also, you cannot share on Whatapp – well, you can but it’s so convuluted by downloading a video convertor, etc… Apparently, these are bugs that need to be fixed but hope it’s done soon as it means I have a non fully functioning midget on my window sill.
On night vision, the camera amplifies available light. If there is a light source near by it can blot out the view. Turn night vision off and the view is excellent. Nothing escapes it’s movement detection and play back is clear and vivid. If setting it up to view through a window, be careful to check that there is no reflection from the glass fogging the picture. Value for money is excellent.
I bought this camera with limited expectations due to the pricing. I have to say though I was blown away with the performance of the camera. Day and Night vision are great. The notifications work well and has been very good. My only small gripe would be that it does not hold onto the network setting when powered down, which means resetting it up again. That said it is a small gripe as the set up is very easy with your phone and a QR code. I would certainly buy another.
Clear picture on live view. Excellent night vision and easy to set up. Just right for that price. 2 way sound is bad though and noisy and I feel that’s the only negative for my needs .
Love these devices for an economical way to protect your house. There are a couple of drawbacks to be honest but for 25 you can’t complain, but I’ll still list them.
1) to view the videos on your micro SD, you need to eject it and watch on your PC. It would be nice to get able to connect directly and view the files, I know you can with other cameras. Also getting the cards out can be a bit fiddly if you have large hands.
2) The app – the design and operation of the app are fine. It has a function called auto arming which, as it sounds, auto arms the cameras when you step outside a set radius. However the app continually signs you out and resets the auto arming to ‘off’. So you have to sign in and amend your settings. I have addressed this with the company (about 9 months ago), who said it will be fixed in their next release, but it still happens. This might only be on iPhone, I can’t comment on Android.
A desktop/web based viewer would also be nice, but I’d rather they focus on the issues they have.
Positive aspects, easy to set up and decent quality images, small and discree
Firstly, the hardware… this is a decent little wifi camera, it feels well made has a nicely designed mechanism for positioning it in different angles and a magnetic base, it can be attached to any metal surface or using the included device, it’s powered by a Micro USB connector so can run off a USB battery back for many hours if required. Despite the fact it is absolutely intended as an indoor camera only, it functions outdoors well as long as it’s sheltered from direct rainfall and even a little bit of rain hitting it doesn’t seem to do it much harm (it should be stressed this is *NOT* the intended environment for this camera, but it works well – we left one outside to spy on what was eating things in our garden for a couple of weeks!)
The one negative of the hardware is the poor WiFi reception, it needs a strong signal and fails when placed far away from the access point or with a thick stone wall in the way, even though devices like the iPhone, iPad etc work perfectly in the same location. This is probably a limitation of the antenna design, an option for an external antenna would be nice. It does also occasionally ‘freeze’ and resume a few seconds later. Not a big issue as we’re using it but if security is critical then it can’t be relied upon for 100% reliability – then again in that sort of environment you’d be better looking at Dahua or Hikvision really!
Secondly, the software…. the app is ridiculous. It requires compulsory registration and takes a LOT of data (including requesting your GPS location) which means that somewhere (probably outsourced to the lowest bidder in China) there is a company with a lot of information, including the exact location of your camera, that also has access to live video from it. The cloud-based service actually works reasonably well, but too much of a security risk for my liking.
If you’re technically minded, google “DaFang Hacks” and you will find third party firmware for this camera. I have no doubt that using it invalidates the warranty (although it’s easy to revert to the stock firmware). This allows you to use this camera as a normal streaming camera with any CCTV software of your own choice like SecuritySpy, Blue Iris, Zoneminder, Shinobi etc keeping the video entirely on your own network, and without needing to use the intrusive app to set it up. It also enables some manual control over the camera which you wouldn’t otherwise have.
Really pleased with this camera, great night vision, a good image for the amount that i paid for it.
Cable was not overly long but was long enough for one to be mounted above a door.
The included mount wasn’t the best so I brought one from Ebay (shown in the first image) rather then the magnetic one as this would provide more of a mechanical connection.
The other image is of a window mount which I will be buying to allow for an easy install to a window rather then sticking or drilling to the frame itself.
I was so impressed with this little camera i bought another 2. the auto-arming works a treat it doesn’t miss a sound even if its just the neighbours dog barking at the postie. and the motion picks up the reflections of cars passing in the road at night. it might sound annoying that you get false flag notifications on your mobile but you get to know the difference if its someone in the house as i found if i’m out and forget to unarm and son is home walking round then it goes off multiple times. The picture is clear enough to read this text on my laptop from 6 feet away. I dropped a star due to the constant requests to upgrade at a cost i think way to high for longer recordings which were free when i first had them. at twice the cost pm than my ring doorbell it defeats the object of buying these budget cameras and i’ll consider replacing with ring in the future for long term cost. but if you are happy with a 5 second clip or still frame then they are perfect. you can watch live as much as you want.
Not sure what all the bad comments are.
I ordered this, yesterday (14Jul) and arrived today. The setup and installation instructions are simple and straight forward. And if you are completely useless there is an online video to watch.
I have mounted this outdoor using the outdoor bracket but it’s under a soffit so well protected.
The USB lead for the power has 2 minor draws backs when it comes to installation.
First the length is just under 2m, so if your power source/ socket is further including traversing corners etc, then you will need the specific power cable for this. Another 8 or so quid.
The second issue is the micro USB end is wide so you need bc about a 14mm hole to feed the cable through say a wall.
I was lucky the power source was in reach and using the plug provided sorted.
The hardest thing is deciding where to position the camera.
The base function of what this product offers is good. And personally I don’t mind paying the 2.50 per month for extra storage and clip length.
I do like the notion sensor which misses nothing and records the next 12 seconds, longer if motion is still detected . In the first two weeks they give you 1 min.
But 12 seconds is enough and I probably won’t pay the extra.
I like the fact of the 2-way audio and you can add multiple cameras but you have to pay the extra 2.50 pcm for that.
Still for piece of mind, it’s not much at all.
Pros: Great clear video. Some useful features. Nice clean app. I wired the camera outside, together with a protective box and can see who is at the door (you cant keep inside as the night vision light to be able to see outside activity in the dark, adds a glare to the window and so ruins the image). We have replaced our Baby Monitor with a Neos Camera and its amazing to check in on baby whilst at work on the app.
But
Cons: at critical moments the app can freeze, not record. Features just aren’t good enough yet, even with the monthly subscription that I signed up for.
Conclusion: it is a great general camera to use just to check in on activity in the home – but there are not enough features for Neos to be considered a security camera contender.
brilliant camera for both day and night time viewing connects to phone, laptop etc and once activated on phone instantaneously records any movement and sound activations. It is brilliant the best home camera set up we have bought upto now. The whole setting up the camera is really easy to, not like some we have used before. Excellent camera for the price we paid so we have bought 3 in total so our house is covered by the cameras and peace of mind for leaving the house protected
I love the design of this camera. The fold-out legs are very neat and allow the camera to be positioned in a wide variety of ways, either free-standing or stuck to a wall using the sticky pad which comes with it. A magnet attaches the camera to the pad but, unlike another camera I tried out, the bond is quite strong, so it wouldn’t easily fall off. The picture is excellent and live view works well, even when I’m out of range of the wi-fi signal.
I have a Ring camera as well but I think this is every bit as good with the advantage of the being cheaper than the equivalent Ring.
Great little budget cameras, so easy to set up and good for the price. The night vision is actually great quality and far better than my more expensive logitech cameras. The only negative is the short cable that come with the camera. It is just barely long enough to reach from the plug socket to the camera if you are mounting at the top of wall just below ceiling, they are also thick and white so not ideal if you are trying to set the camera up to be unobtrusive
What a great quality camera for the price!! I bought it to put in our bedroom window to watch over the cars and it worked perfectly. Just a tip for anyone that is looking to use it to face through a window. Turn off the infrared setting as it does cause a glare on the picture. Once I turned this off the night vision is clear enough not to need it. All in all a great piece of kit.
Wow! For such a cheap camera I was blown away by the features of this camera and app. Footage auto saves to the Web and is easy to view. Add an sd card (which I have done) and you have instant access to your footage. App is super easy to set up and although I don’t like the fact I have to supply my address on signing up that’s really a minor gripe as I can’t find any fault with this. Night vision is, again for the price point, is top notch.
Best 30 I’ve ever spent. For the money you couldn’t ask for more. The picture quality is second to none. And the app is easy to use and unlike some of the reviews it’s not intrusive about asking for your address etc. You can skip this part. It records 12 second clip and calls off for 5mins before recording another 12 second clip. But for only 2.50 you can subscribe and have it record to the cloud for 1min and a 1min cool off. That’s if you don’t want to put a memory card in of course.
Very impressed with them but, a few niggles; the cameras pick up light on the movement sensor such as the sun shining on something, they sometimes have a hissy fit and have to be reset usually at most inconvenient moments (technology eh!) and it would be most useful if you could change the tone of the phone alert to something more unique, or be able to make it louder. I got these to be alerted when Mum leaves her home unexpectedly, she’s taken to wandering off and we need to know to go and find her.
Hooked up a power bank that lasts a day if power is lost. Really great features using as a security cam the only thing I would say is that what is the point of haveing an SD slot that could record two weeks or a month like other cameras which are a fraction of this value camera to just record 12 second clips, which wipe however long? Might last decades or a century. That is the only feature I think is missing as it would be nice to have this feature for obvious reasons. I have basically turned my camera in a 700 Arlo camera with a usb power bank. So along with the magnetic plate cam move my camera around and have it also monitor my drive quite easily, hopefully the developers can somehow implement constant record to SD card into the software. The software is well made and the features are great not like some of those crap chinese poorly made interfaces. The settings and preferences are amazing like the auto geo fencing setting alarm, mobile viewing, sound and motion alarm sensitivity and sharing recordings, notifications of triggers and recordings to play back, adding cameras and sharing live view is also a bonus, cloud storage amazing, boost easy to access and good value considering arlo you have to opt into just to use it which I think is unfair considering you already have to fork out for Wi fi. I have managed to connect a Mi-Fi device network so added bonus for me, the features are reliability are well beyond those of the cheaper Far Eastern Chinese ones so not even comparable in my opinion, Face ID is also amazing but not yet used, two way audio is great.
Setting up was a piece of cake, I gave the other one to someone else and set it up for them too.
Great piece of technology well worth its value for features, hardware I would say well designed and made, magnetic base great idea and having the ability to swivel is a great idea for positioning. Night vision is also very clear.
Really happy with it so far just wished they utilised the SD card a bit more. I am not even sure many thanks recodrings do not save to it but you can not play back the recordings from it which I know a 64gb card can record a month into incase you want more the 13 second clips or recordings, which are useful but if you have a lot of activity going back over them can show you even if your camera was not recording for some strange reason which I think is also important.
I purchased an expensive cctv due to having security issues and had to return it as it kept cutting out I have had this device for two days now and even when walking around Tesco I could see my home and talk to my dog all I can say is amazing for the price and the screen display is so clear so happy I am going to purchase more as gifts for my friends and family 🙂 thank you
This is a fabulous gadget its quite small and easy to set up, just download the app and then pair it to your wifi, you can put it in any room or have it pointing outside to cover the garden which is why i have it, you can add an sd card so you can download and watch back and the picture is crystal clear, it detects every movement and sound you can also alter the sensitivity, or turn off the sound completely, the only thing that isnt good is the night vision its very grainy and you cannot see much, however if you turn off the night vision and just use without its a perfect picture day or night, you also get a boost pack which lasts for 14 days and then you need to pay if you want to keep it, its for 1 minute clips , in my opinion you don’t need this added extra, i love this little gadget and bought a few of them.
Arrived promptly in well designed packaging. Full instructions, good english and diagram and soooooo many (Glowing) YouTube review’s & unboxing videos that I am not going to even bother (to post an image or video) I will say that I work as a private investigator and these smartcam are top notch. If you want my short review – here it is – BUY THEM. If you are still unsure don’t buy anything because you will never be convinced – not matter the product.
Yes I could conceal them and squirrel away in a covert location and get the footage (any footage) required by attaching to a power-bank (to supply power for a couple of day’s) Having said that their primary purpose is as a security cam for which they are superbly specc’d. Yes you could improve…….but that would increase the price. Just a point here that many people were saying that these are cheaper via the suppliers own website. I found they were adverting at 10.00 more for 2 pack than Amazon were selling. Not a big deal but Amazon currently appear cheapest (May 2020) Having stated that I still believe they are a good deal either via the Neos Smartcam website or via Amazon.
You can be tech savvie or tech dumb these are easy to set-up and operate and cheap to boot. What not to like?
I have a nest camera as my main camera at 300 . But this is a brilliant little camera for the price , and the service is getting better and better . It is basic as it only records short clips when it senses movement or sound , I use it to monitor the back door and kitchen . The range (WiFi) seems short but if you have good internet it should be fine . I will definitely buy more
I use this camera inside pointing out to the back garden. I have read some reviews saying they this cam is useless using like this as night vision reflects against the glass/window when it gets dark outside. If people actually made an effort before writing bad reviews, in the app you can turn night vision off and it then works perfectly.
The clips are short but of you pay a small fee each month you get longer and more frequent clips. To see if that’s for you take up their free month trial. Motion detection is decent as is picture quality is good. It’s a great live cam too.
All in all it’s pretty good for the money and better than more popular names brands at a fraction of the price.
Can’t fault this product for the price. I have this looking out of my front window looking over my car and front door. I can see who is knocking at my door and what is going on outside wherever I am with the app on my phone.
I mainly wanted something cheap but visible in my window as a deterrent. This does the job, and the video quality is ok.
However if you need a camera to record for long periods, maybe spend a bit more and get a higher spec camera.
I’ve seen so many reviews slating it for asking for your address. It ONLY asks for that if you want to use the automatic arm/disarm function. Where it automotically arms and disarms the system when you leave and come back to the house.
I can’t believe how clear the video is given the cheap price. I’ve bought it for my son who has seizures. I want to check he isn’t having them at night. Even in the pitch black I can see him fine. Notifications come to my phone.
Extremely happy for the price.
This camera is a great reasonably priced camera as you can see in the image I purchased the external wall mount which is a must for night vision as the camera will just reflect off the glass if you have it pointing out of a window.
All you do is install the app sync camera to your phone via the app and the CCTV will arm automatically when you leave you’re property.
Great little camera, does the job nicely, I think the noise quality on recordings could be improved to reduce noise feedback and when speaking through the camera the speach sounds robotic. I had some trouble setting it up as I inputted my address incorrectly, I thought my internet wasn’t connecting because the cause of set up failure wasn’t clear, happy I managed to figure it out. I’m impressed with the motion detection and sensitivity of the camera, the night vision is quite clear. Picture quality could be improved but for the price it’s an excellent product.
This is a no brainier, if you want an internal camera for your home.
There really isn’t much it can be faulted on, cloud storage is limited by about by a short time but this is free can be extended with a subscription of 2.50 a month (up to 4 camera I think).
Picture quality is great and setup is easy.
The only negative I have is that the camera is exactly the same as the Wyze camera, except for the firmware and software that Neos use that is different, and Neos have not yet written a firmware/software update to allow there cameras to view stored footage on SD card (bought separately), something that the Wyze camera has been able to do for ages. If you want to watch footage stored on the internal SD, you have to take it out of the camera and watch on your PC. Neo’s has said they are working on this for many months, should be a very easy fix…….. Maybe they don’t want to activate it because they want people to subscribe to there 2.50 service, which is fair enough, but how about activating this for people who do subscribe to the 2.50 service???
Grate value for money. This little bad boys are great! I use this to keep an eye on the children in the living room whilst i am working in my office!
Good points:
– easy to setup.
– app works good 99% of the time. Easy to use. Intuitive.
– currently using 64GB microSD card and works perfectly I have had 1128gb with no problems
– Night vision and motion detection works very well however the motion detection can be a little strong in some occasions
– notifications are great and come through to your phone very quickly!
– cannot get any cheaper! this is a low as it gets!!
Bad points:
– Picture quality could be a little better but is hard to argue when factoring in the cos
– cannot view the recordings on the SDcard unless you take the card out and put it in a laptop.
– microphone is quiet.
Overall this camera is amazing for the money, only downside is that it does not integrate with Google Home unlike it’s twin the Waze cam which does! (however is double the price).
Has to be a five star rating, other smart camera manufacturers take notice, cheap smart tech is achievable!
Easy to set up cameras and install the smartphone app.
Cameras give a good quality picture and wide angle of view
The basic free package is ok but you really need to pay the monthly fee to keep the “boost” features which are really necessary. That costs approx 30 a year.
I should point out I didn’t even begin the setup process for this camera and judging by the other reviews it’s incredibly invasive. I can imagine what it is like from other cameras I’ve used; overpriced cloud storage for fifteen-second clips.
Alternatively, custom-firmware is available on GitHub allowing the camera to be viewed via a network stream.
I have about thirty cameras (including vastly more expensive ones than this) running through Blue Iris (one-off payment premium software) and, I admit, some parts of it were a pain in the arse and I’m a computer science student so I’m fairly tech-literate.
I had to configure Blue Iris to open the RTSP stream when it cuts out, allowing BI to reconnect, followed by BI killing the VLC process upon successfully loading the stream.
Additionally, I had to modify some of the code (Python) in the firmware to keep the infrared lights off during the automatic night-mode trigger because I wanted to solely use an IR illuminator.
Why the good review? Well for this plus a micro-SD card its about 25 and I reckon 25 and an hour-ish of your time is pretty cheap for a camera capable of BI integration and continuous 24/7 recording (again, only with cfw).
I also cannot help but anthropomorphise the little guy, he has a Pixar lamp-esque charm.
If you’re not going to mod it then don’t buy it, they’re nearly always terrible and have serious data concerns.
If you are then yeah, buy it.
Bought 3 of these for inside and outside (with a casing) and the camera hardware is really good and the picture and sound quality is easily worth the 20-30 price, if not more. Flexible mounting options in the box and great magnetic base. Very impressed with the hardware overall.
Software: the app is reliable enough but needs a few more features which could easily be added. Disclaimer: I know Neos are a small company and are working on improvements but would be lovely if some of my wishes could be granted! They do have a feature request on the app but not sure if it gets looked at as only a few features seem to get added even with over a thousand upvotes.
1. Ifttt support to work with wider range of devices
2. iPad and Apple TV support (including multiple streams would be awesome)
3. Ability to reorder cameras in the main app screen
4. Smaller home area, my camera only arms several streets away from my house.
5. Turn off notifications for armed/disarmed. I only want notification for motion/sound not that I have moved several streets from my house (see point 4)
6. Alexa skill able to arm/disarm cameras so can be added to Alexa routines
This may seem like a negative review but I am really impressed with the cameras I am just fussy over software so want some extra functionality/flexibility
This is the easiest camera to set up I’ve ever used and is incredibly cheap.
The picture quality is good. Motion detection is too sensitive for objects going across the field of view, but not sensitive enough for objects coming towards the camera. It also detects when the outside light comes on (mine is outside), the light being seen as movement. This can become tiresome where cats are always triggering the outside light.
The software is good, although it has constant reminders to upgrade the software to the subscription version (no real need for my use) but otherwise this camera / software does exactly what is needed for basic security around the home.
First thing. For 25 it is impossible not to consider this a fantastic security product. The picture quality, build and night vision might not be on par with a 200 unit but it’s so close that it simply doesn’t feel like good value to go expensive. They aren’t supposed to be outdoor cameras but you can buy third party cases, I have two outdoors fully open to sun, wind and rain: no issues whatsoever.
At 25 you actually can’t go wrong here
It’s great but It only dose a few seconds and it takes a few minutes before it can record again(free version) premium version is not better either .. I didn’t try to put a sd car yet.. but as a camera is very good considering the price !
It’s beautiful. Surprised that the video clips (live and recorded) are so crystal clear, with nice colour. I haven’t checked the night vision yet. Motion and noise detection are effective, nearly detect and send message to my phone immediately.
About the setup, I was a bit worried about the requirement of home address. However, I just found out that it’s just an option for Auto-arming. Hence, all I need is just my email address information. So happy with this purchase.
Only a minor comment that the power cord is quite short (about 1.9m) so it’s quite difficult for me to find a suitable location for it.
Absolute breeze to set up. Motion detection and night vision is top draw. It works flawlessly. Almost to the point that you become quite addicted to checking in on what’s going on. I’m forever getting motion detection messages only to discover my cat is going mad in the kitchen. I even got some very spooky footage of a cereal box seemingly slide all by itself across a kitchen table onto the floor. Poltergeist detetor as well then! The only negative is the inability to remotely talk through it. This is a feature of the camera but any time I use this function from the phone app all people can hear is crackling, so a conversation is 100% out of the question (for me anyway).
As others have mentioned security is a grey area but it’s the same with a lot of modern technology. We live in an age where Londoners are being arrested for merely looking away from facial recognition cameras. I’m worried like everyone else, but, what can we realistically do when the masses believe that people like Boris and Donald are a good idea? The establishment’s Orwellian vision is firmly set in motion and it’s hard to avoid it. They have us electing their desires as our own and self surveilance is just another tool in their assault on our civil liberties. Why be seen inflicting it upon the people when they can just as easily have us do it to ourselves. Entertained and enthralled, here we are…
I paid 20 when it was on offer and brought two. I have a very professional set up already so Neos was just to cover little areas. I didn’t hold out on it being that good but they are fantastic for the money.
The 2.50pm subscription is worth it. Alerts you to motion when you move a set distance from the cameras and timed alerts. Motion is very spot on. I have both camera against windows looking out with night vision off due to glare from the IR but with street lights it still gives a great colour image.
Two way audio is decent.
First of all, I set up my camera without having to provide card details, my address or telephone number. This is an OPTION for if you want the camera to automatically arm or disarm when you leave/return home rather than you having to set it manually or to pay a monthy subscription for additional features. For the purposes I use the camera for I dont need these extra features.
The camera itself is a neat little thing that fits in nicely with the surroundings. The fitting plate I havent used but I’ve been thinking if I do use it I may use command strips rather than the adhesive pad provided so that it’s easy to move if needed.
I do find the notifications come through a little delayed if I come home and I’ve not turned the alerts off before I come in, but it’s literally seconds so this doesnt cause any issues.
The app is easy to use, although a warning to android users, the live view may not work initially, you need to make sure the time on your phone is set to automatic as a work around for this to happen. It is something they are aware of and as far as I’m aware are working on.
For the price of the camera you cant really go too far wrong. If you’re not subscribed your video notifications will be 12 seconds, but if you go on the app and into live view you can record longer from there.
Seriously thinking of getting another for the property, where I’m thinking doesnt have a power source close by, but these can be powered by power banks.
All in all I’m happy with the purchase and the price of the product, I paid much more a few years ago for a product that has since stopped working and I refused to pay the price again, especially when this does the same thing at more than half the price.
Neos is an excellent little camera for a great price. The image quality is great and the app fairly easy to operate. We use it as a nursery camera and in Conjunction with echo show which was easy to set up. The one thing missing would be the ability to pan and tilt the camera remotely.
Great camera. Easy to set up but having real problems adding another user. Customer support keep telling me what I’ve already tried and not really listening. Now I’ve not heard from them and no help in resolving my issue. Little disappointed but you get what you pay for I suppose. Camera great, customer support rubbish.
Would be better mounted outside, the night vision does glare off of my windows when it is turned on, thus hindering the picture a little, so bear that in mind when thinking about where you position the camera. All in all a great camera, for a great price. Videos can be saved to your phone, and handy alert notifications. We also have it linked to our Amazon Echo show which is a nice bonus
I waited to review this until it had suffered some real winter weather. Apart from snow this has dealt with two named storms and lots of rain. Still water tight and giving an excellent picture. Used with Alexa “Alexa show me the front door” and it does! There is however a 5 second delay which may be my network set up which has two routers talking to each other (usually!) – don’t know. I will update if and when it gives in. By the way used with its dedicated wall mount which helps with the weather proofing. Should really come with the mount included in the price – but that isn’t Amazon’s way of course!
Such a good camera. I wanted something so I could keep an eye on my house when not around. As I wanted to cover a few areas I couldn’t justify the outlay of some of the better-known makes as they total up to a lot of money. When I found the Neos I bought one to give it a go. Quality is great and has all the features I wanted. I have just bought my 4th one and couldn’t be happier. Great product at a great price!
I scoured amazon for many hours getting lost in the endless pages of budget cctv cameras. I was beginning to get a little frustrated, and knew I had to settle on one soon. I kept reading reviews which weren’t showing the camera in its best light. I was wondering if I was doing the right thing, but I bought it, because this camera was the smallest, the nicest looking, and one of the best prices. Having now had the camera over a month, I can’t say one bad thing about it. It is a perfect budget cctv camera, and I don’t understand any of the bad reviews. I always read them before buying something and they sometimes put me off, but this time I’m glad they didn’t. The camera is easy to set up, the quality of the video is great, and it has continuous recording if you use an sd card. It also links to your phone for live viewing. it is everything I wanted out of a cheap cctv setup, and I couldn’t be happier. highly recommended by me. 5*
For the price I wasn’t expecting much but thought it might add some quick simple extra security. I was very pleased with the quality of the Neos Cam once opened the box. Very quick and simple to set up. I ordered one to place inside my garage. It connected to the house wifi no problem. I think the image on the night vision is good. I ordered a 2nd one straight away and intend to fix that up outside on my garage pointing along my driveway. Until the fully covered outdoor box arrives I have placed it pointing out of the upstairs front bedroom window. I’ve now got a 3rd one on order as i will put one round the back of my house. I like the ability to have the app on my phone and check up on all my cameras while i’m out of the house. Shame you have to pay to get more than the 12 sec video clip but I’ve not really bought them for that. I have put micro sd cards in them so they can capture the video on these. I think for the price you can’t go wrong, what’s not to like?
Bought a different brand of this kind of thing a couple of years ago, this one is miles better, and cheaper. The app is incredibly streamlined and automatically turns motion detection on when you leave the house if you set it to, setup was incredibly simple and fast. The picture quality is fantastic and the motion detection on standard setting can even bre triggered by dust motes, it’s that clear, luckily it’s simple to turn down the sensitivity in settings.
In summary first impressions it’s top notch and well worth the money!
I absolutely love this camera. Having originally dismissed the need for a video monitor for my baby, I found myself getting paranoid if he went for a nap and slept a little longer than normal and woke him up sometimes if I wanted to sneakily check on him! Recently we’ve put him in his own room and it’s been fab being able to check on him whenever I feel like it. Camera quality is excellent, love that I can record footage or take pics, and also handy when he stirs during the night to see if he’s settling ok. Handy app that always loads ok, night vision is good and works. Packaging is neat too. Overall a great wee camera
We’ve just turned our garage into a little studio for my other half and set this up in there, mainly for a bit of security. She has a kiln in there which runs for 12 hours at a time and various things need to be done at different temperatures. This little camera is so good that we can even read the LCD display on the kiln which is really handy if she doesn’t want to be out there all the time. Even when the studio is in complete darkness you can still see what’s going on. I’d definitely recommend this camera.
I have two of these. They are very impressive for the price and size. I think the picture quality could be a bit better but they’re very good. You can see most things in good detail and they capture even slight movements. Switching a light on, moving curtain, even shadows trigger them. The app is easy to download and use although sometimes the connection isn’t the best. When switching from one camera to the next on the app, if you do it too quickly, it’ll ask you to reconnect. I wait a few seconds before switching because of that. Irritating obviously but otherwise they’re fine. They pick up sound quite well although there’s a very slight lag between the sound and picture. They’re not so good at hearing what you say when you speak through the app as it’s a bit muffled but you can still understand what’s being said. The position is fixed but they have quite a wide angle view so you’ll see most things from wherever you position them. Set up was very easy and straightforward too. Took around two minutes from plugging one in to having it working. Just download the app first to make it faster setting up. I’m pleased with them and would recommend them.
Picture quality is great, as is the night vision. The only thing that needs real improving is the two way microphone. A: it’s far too quiet. B: It’s quite laggy when talking to something through the cam. It often breaks up. Improve on that and this cam is perfect!
Great little CCTV camera for the money.
I bought 2 and rooted the one with the Dafeng firmware concerned that neos was a shuffling my data to China but having dug a little deeper and not wanting to maintain a raspberry Pi and router rules I found out that Neos are a UK company and seem to have their own firmware so will be bound by GDPR. Previous concerns around the App wanting too much information in another review seem unfounded as I was only asked for my address which was explained.
We have ours pointing at the street and mostly get notifications within 30 seconds on the app. One exception was at the start of the new year where events seemed to be being missed. This was a one off though as I haven’t seen it since.
I’d like to see Neos add rtsp like the Wyze cam now supports even if they include this as part of the premium subscription.
It would also be good if it were possible to disable audio in the App as ours is mostly pointing outside through the window.
Great camera for the price I wasn’t expecting it to be as good as it is especially in night vision but it is very clear. When it is linked with echo show it needs an option for the camera to stay on and not time out after 10 mins
Bought this for a slightly different reason. As a baby monitor for our daughter.
I have an amazon echo show that I used as the base and one of these cameras in her bedroom. The camera is excellent for the price. It comes with an app that is good but not quite streamlined enough.
The live feed on the app seems to work better on the same Wi-fi than away from home. I have had a couple of issues connecting from outside the house occasionally.
The motion detection works brilliantly and the night vision is great.
Genuinely surprised how good the quality is for the price!
The delay on the app on the local network is about a second if that. When I connect it to my echo show that delay jumped to about 6-7 seconds. So wife isn’t quite convinced the echo show pairing makes a good enough monitor. It does also disconnect after about an hour when connected to the echo show, so I have to tell it to reconnect every so often.
Am interested in getting more to use for home security.
We had an issue whereby our 12 month old would sleep in her crib but would sit upright waiting for either mummy or daddy to come for her. She was be drifting off in that position but as she would drop her head she would flinch back up (most likely having that falling feeling). But she was never sleeping because of it – she was half in, half out of sleep.
Everytime peeped into her room, she would know we were there because of the floor creek or slightest of light from outside her room suddenly making her room brighter – so she would open her eyes wide open! This would go on for 3 hours – she wasnt sleeping when she should!
So we got a cam – so we could monitor her, so rather than peek into her room and make noise or let in light, the camera could show us! She eventually began laying down and now we can see when she is comfortable / uncomfortable.
In addition, because our house size, my wife and I live in bedroom downstairs and she is upstairs – so this means we dont always have to constantly get up to go and check. Means me and wife have more time together rather than start/stopping netflix everytime.
Havent used this yet as a means to monitor the house when out – but will definitely be looking at getting a 2nd and possibly 3rd in the future.
love this device.
UPDATE: I decided to try two other big brands and both failed in comparison, these might sound cheap but the quality is there. Better image results than even 2k cameras due to better exposure settings, not a lot of good having high res if the image is far too dark or light, the Neos gets it right. Also you can turn off the infra red LEDs if you need to place behind glass and point outside, big brands still can’t do this yet, crazy. So I’m back on the Neos and very happy.
This was super easy to install. I installed the app, told it my Wi-Fi details, pushed a button on the camera, scanned the QR code on the app screen, done.
It only asked for my name and address and email, nothing else.
The app works great on my iPhone and iPad. I’ve hooked it up to my Amazon Echo Show 8 easily.
The motion detection works a treat, night vision is bright and clear, sound is clear in both directions.
The camera is so well designed, just a cube with a pull out stand that lets it stand upright, look down or up or stick it to the wall with the supplied magnetic mount which means you can take it down easily if you ever need to and stick it back up again.
It comes with a usb power supply and a long flat usb cable in white.
There’s also a protected by Neos camera window sticker if you want to use it.
Amazing price for such a well designed, well functioning piece of kit.
Within 2 years we were on our 4th Motorola baby monitor, 150 and it kept becoming faulty. In general baby monitors have bad image quality, poor sound and can be quite slow but you pay a premium as it’s a baby product. I’ve been banging on for ages to my wife that we should just get a WiFi camera and once I set this up she said… why didn’t we just get one of these!!! You can imagine the anger in me that built up a little haha And it’s the first time she’s accepted my ‘I told you so’ comment.
Image quality is fantastic day or night. Sound quality is brilliant and it’s 2 way. Gone are the days we try and find the monitor… I’ve got the app on my phone, wife’s phone and my tablet.
There are only two draw backs… 1. you need WiFi for it to work therefore you couldn’t use it if on holiday in a poor WiFi area, but remember you only need WiFi for the camera. You can access the live feed from the app on any network wether that be WiFi or 4g.
Second draw back… no baby monitor music but to be honest, it’s annoying! And turns out… our little man doesn’t even care that it’s not on. He’s prob relieved!
Honestly, it’s 25, give it a go.You’d think it was 400 when you compare it to a baby monitor quality.
My last personal fav about this is that you no longer need to worry about how far you are away from the camera as the range is infinite. Therefore you can put the kid down for a nap whilst you’re in the garden having a bbq in the summer and still see them fast asleep (if you’re lucky).
Really easy to set up, good value for money, easy to link to your smartphone or alexa display. Great device if you want to be able to see and hear particular room. We use ours to monitor the dogs when we’re out and it’s great as we can also talk to them if we want to calm them down. We’ve bought another one since and use it for all sorts of things. Sometimes even set it up over the stove to keep an eye on a boiling pot to save us having to wait in the kitchen as we can carry on watching a film in another room for example
I have had my camera a month now, in short it’s great, but there are a couple of things to mention..
I have upgraded so I get longer videos, this is well worth 2.50 a month for me. Plus the schedule of being able to arm on a timer is great.
If you use the app actively, you will not notice any issues. However if you close the app out and you have the auto arming set to when you leave the house, the camera will not arm. In other words, keep the app running in the background so the camera will arm itself and record.
This really is an indoor camera, I face mine out the window at my cars, so I get some glare from the glass, but there are mounts for external available.
All round best you can buy for 25. There is some noise on motion pictures, but decent image when slow / still.
I think these are brilliant.
Re the intrusion – I didn’t have to inout my phone number or address when it asked i simply skipped that part. So i dont really see the issue that others are raising.
Night vision – this is really good. You can see in the dark just fine, i use it in kids bedroom. What more could you want. The only thing is occasionally when i think it would be light enough it remains on night vision when in the auto mode. However a small issue.
These are really dinky and non intrusive at home. Multiple ones work with the app which is great.
I used to have the much larger and ugly chinese cheap wifi cameras and much prefer these. They actually look nice.
Good quality camera for a great price but that is only if you want it as a stand alone system. If you want the ability to link to ifttt and alexa routines then this isn’t for you. Great camera but I wont be using due to this limited ability.
So easy to set up and the quality is amazing. I leave music on for my dog so I was worried the sensor would be going off constantly but it seems to know the music is playing and only alerts me if my dog barks which is great.
My only negative is it will notify me if my dog moves (ie leaves the room ) it notifys me but then the dog will be back in the room and it hasn’t notified me again. This isn’t a major issue though.
