My one point about this light is it’s rather top heavy with the D batters once up looks good, bright hope it lives up to it’s name so far happy !

Simple to install and works perfectly. No wiring is needed.
Probably wouldn’t fit them in areas where you get a lot of footfall because they use batteries but, in dark areas that you want lighting up occasionally they do the job.

Really good, I had it on for nearly 8 months now very surprised the battery not finished yet. The light covers fair bit and the sensor catches from about 5 meters away but maybe more

only 4 stars as it say”s on site it is weather proof, but instructions add that best if it has a canopy etc over it to protect it as extra protection. other wise 5 stars.

Please with product, easy to fit and position where needed. Bright enough to lighten path and a part of the drive way.
No sure about longevity as only had a couple of weeks but will see.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersBought this to replace a dying porch light that lights up the main door when you approach. The light is very goon, well made, easy to mount with the provided screws and the instructions are clear and easy to follow. It has word perfectly and is brighter than the old light it replaced. I bought a large pack id D cell batteries at the same time but not changed any yet. Was so pleased with this light that needs no cables that I bought two more. That should tell you that it’s well worth the price.

ease of operation, from instal to function. bought to light up garden for dog eve mooch, and does exactly what was req. took 4 mins to install, instructions very concise, but helpful. good amount of light, and fully adjustable. EXCELLENT PURCHASE, well done the manufacturer.

Very easy to install. Coverage is good. Motion detection is good and movement of trees or bushes by wind does not trigger it, The light could probably be a bit brighter, but then it is battery powered.

I’ve used Mr Beams outdoor battery lights for a number of years which are excellent but this light is very similar for a fraction of the price. Bought it for extra light in the garden and does the job very well. Good light and also features an on/off switch which others don’t so you can switch off when not needed and save the batteries.

Easy to install, easy to adjust to cover large area and dog can trigger the light. I just received this battery powered outside light and already placed an order for a 2nd one as it’s so good and I have outside steps that are dark at night so going to install the 2nd one near them. There’s a good deal on the batteries required on amazon that work great on this light. Highly recommended the light and given it 5 stars

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersAbsolutely brilliant piece of kit is this light with motion detection that works as good if not better than any wired unit I’ve ever had. This item is completely wireless working off 4 x type D batteries. Ok so the batteries aren’t so cheap – about 9 for 4 but 4 x good quality batteries last months and mines on and off all the time as its right over the front door. These are so good that I bought another and also works well in heavy rain. Can’t fault it and for the price….bonus.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersI was unsure about this product at first as it’s so cheap to purchase, and battery operated as I’ve always had electric ones but I was extremely surprised at this light!! It’s really bright, it picks up from a great distance and it’s an amazing security light! I am 1000% happy with this purchase and it’s equally as great as an electric one! Easy to install, strong and solid! Very bright and picks up from a great distance! Would 100% recommend this light!

Extremely happy with this security light. It went up really easy and the light is bright and the motion detector is spot on. If you want a battery powered security light for shaded areas this is the one for you. Would have given it 5 stars but not long had it so insane as to how long the batteries will actually last. So far, so good.

I’m very happy. I wanted these for the dark corners of my garden where my little black dog likes to meander by night. Description of brightness led me to believe they’d be similar to 40w bulbs – better than nothing. They are actually more like 150w spotlights.
Easy to install, easy battery change (not that I’ve had to yet).

Our 2nd set. Great product and does the job. We put them in our plant pots facing our front door. Light is activated as people approach.
Our last set lasted about a year. They are water resistant but not water proof. Rain does eventually get in and ruins them. However, these are the only lights which are suitable for us so we don’t mind getting new ones each year.
We can’t have mains lights or solar lights (front of house always in shade,)

Such good value. Have used 3 of these lights – they don’t use much battery due to sensors & timing.
Unfortunately 1 of the 3 lights stopped working but customer service has been excellent. Seller responded really quickly, asked for a simple video of the light not working & arranged a replacement under their 12 month warranty. Couldn’t ask for more really.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI fitted two of these lights to my parents’ driveway and they work really well. The motion detection had a good range and they produce enough light to light the way. But installing them is quite tricky. The 4 D batteries make these lights heavy, and they are secured with only a single grub screw. You need to put this screw at the top so it can hold the weight, and the screw is turned by hand, which I found fiddly and painful on the fingers. Why didn’t the manufacturers use 3 screws secured with a screwdriver?

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersSuper easy to install and nice bright LED lights. As mentioned in other reviews the casing locking mech isn’t that strong and the battery housing could fall out (4x Heavy D batteries) I use insulation tape around the join, which is a bit of a pain tbh as I have to replace everytime I recharge the cells, so once every 6 months or so.

These lights are excellent. They are bright, have good coverage for motion detection and the batteries are so far lasting very well. I have one at the front door and you need to remember that they are designed to trigger with motion and will then turn off, reset and then trigger again if motion is detected a second time….they are not designed to detect and then stay on…this helps maintain a decent battery life. The other positive from that is that the time allowed lets you get your keys out to unlock your front door, it also makes sure you see whoever is stood at your front door. I also have one near the back door which makes sure any movement is picked up which helps security in the garden. I really recommend these lights. They are a great product.

I bought two of these battery operated lights to illuminate the path round one side of the house and another at the back door. I’ve had solar-powered lights but they never seem to get enough Sun and sooner or later they expire. I’ve had a battery-powered light down one side for some time, and it’s been wholly operative, the same batteries that I started out with. I’ve installed both new lights and they are working well and doing the job for which they were bought.

Bought this to replace a solar security light and it’s great. We wanted something small to go on the fence to light up a lock on our back gate. The motion detection is perfect comes on instantly and is bright enough to see the lock. It is quite a sturdy light and it was a doddle to install no wires just batteries. I would recommend it.

SAVED US A FORTUNE OUR OUTSIDE LIGHT ‘S BULB WENT AND THEN WE WERE TOLD WE WOULD HAVE TO HAVE A COMPLETE NEW LIGHT AS WE COULD NOT CHANGE THE BULB, WHICH AS I AM DISABLED WOULD HAVE INVOLVED THE PURCHASE OF A NEW LIGHT AND THE EMPLOYMENT OF AN ELECTRICIAN TO FIX IT. 4 BATTERIES AND TWO SCREWS LATER I HAD A NEW LIGHT WHICH WORKS GREAT.

  47. Anonymous says:

     United Kingdom

No real complaints other than the light could be a little brighter. I use in a confined area where it works well, but would not be any good for illuminating anything other than a medium-size room.

But easy to fit, does just the job in outside areas where there is no mains electricity.

I have 6 of these round my house. Put them anywhere that you can drill 6mm holes. No wires, look great. I’ve had these for 3 years. They have survived the worst weather Scotland can throw at us. Minus 15, 90 mph storms, lashing rain, total whiteouts. All still work, no water ingress, no frost damage. As for batteries, they are still going, but fading. After 3 years, with the batteries outside, freezing cold for 4 months, this is pretty good. If they packed in tomorrow, I will buy again.
PS I have one in my garage. This serves a double purpose. If we have a power cut, you still have light to find bits and bobs. Secondly, if a scumbag breaks into to the garage they will be totally blinded and run a mile. Big recommend.

These little lights are amazing, easy to install, easy to replace the batteries and very very bright. Good product, decent brightness. Would advise care when fitting the baseplate to surface where you want to mount the light as I think if you over-tightened the screw then the base would probably crack (as it is plastic). My only gripe is that it is fixed to stay alight for only 20 seconds unless it detects further movement. If it had the ability to adjust how long it stays on for then I would give it 5 stars.

  51. Anonymous says:

     United Kingdom

These are great for use where it’s difficult to put mains wiring. They are bright enough to light steps and paths etc. The installation is a bit fiddly as the screws are small and go in a deepish hole, which can be awkward if your stood on steps trying to hold the fitting, a screwdriver and get the screws to go in the hole, but ok for an average DIYer.
The only downside is the light doesn’t stay on very long, but it’s long enough for you to use on walkways, steps etc. so I wouldn’t want one as a security light.
I bought more both for my garden and for the steps outside work, so I would recommend these bright little lights.

When I opened these up I didn’t expect to keep them. I fitted them in my garden as a temporary fixing on the fence as I was expecting them to have poor motion sensors and that they wouldn’t be waterproof. I was wrong on both counts. They went up like a dream. They are easily adjusted so they light up the area you need lit. They stay on for 20 seconds and alumina try again if you move back into range. They aren’t too bright either, so my neighbours don’t get bothered by them. A great purchase

Easy fit and set up, and as you can see, they light up a dark area. 2nd pic shows the far light has just gone off. Big difference, I’m sure you’ll agree.
They can be angled to many positions, but I have them set to cover my neighbours path also
I put some electricians tape around the seal, just to make sure they remain watertight, as some people complained of water ingress.
    Hope they last !

Excellent product at an excellent price. Afte having to return a very disappointihg trio of l.e.d. lights which were falsley advertised as OUTDOOR security lights, which they most certainly were not, I awaited delivery of these lights with a certain amount of trepidation. How very refreshing to be able to say my angst was entirely unfounded as soon as I picked these out of the box. They are infinately superior to the price point suggestion. Sturdy and robust with 3 substantial l.e.ds in each unit. Upon the very easy installation I was imediately impressed with both the brightness of the units and the motion sensor`s extremely accurate and effective operation. If you are looking for ease of installation and a professional quality of domestic security and peace of mind for the long, dark winter nights I can honestly tell you that your search is at an end. Do not hesitate to buy these security lights from Nicrew.

The item arrived on time. Unfortunately I hadn’t read information and needed to buy batteries. These were easy to fit and the wall mounting was very easy. Could be fitted by rank amateur. The light comes on when expected, sensor gives good range and light is sufficiently bright to light up rear access to my property. Could stay on a little longer, maybe 30secs instead of 20, but this is a minor quibble

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersEdited to add that we are now into September & the batteries are still going strong Really impressed with this. I have a long, dark, garden path & with the council turning street lights off & me not having any outside power, the darkness was impenetrable. Even the infrared on the CCTV was useless. Thanks to this motion sensor being battery powered, it lights up the path & enables the CCTV to record anything that is approaching. I will set the second motion sensor up down the back path. I do recommend this item

Bought several of these for my cottage to be able to bring light to the premises where is no electricity and for outdoor use. Installation is a “monkey business”. Been using with alkaline batteries and despite multiple motion detection during night it last for about 1.5 month. Great solution if you’d like to “bring” light to places without struggling with cables.

  58. Anonymous says:

We have an earlier model which is not so bright. These ones are a lot brighter. Luckily the screw holes for the old one was the same as the new one so it was easily replaced.
Ours are placed above the front door and by the car port.
The motion detection works but when I installed it the beam stretched to the second light meaning there was no dark area when walking at night but now the light only triggers when closer to it.
The battery life seems to be good and lasts several months.
What I would have liked is the ability to adjust the ‘time’ the light is on, at present it is only around 20 seconds which is just about ok to get to the door and unlock it but being able to adjust it would be better if you have for example a pram or shopping to carry in.

Spent ages looking for outside lights that didn’t need wiring in and finally plumped for these battery operated ones. So far they have done the job really well. Very easy to set up and mount. Multidirectional fittings so you can angle and point exactly where you want. The motion detection is about 5-10 metres or so but OK for where I have them and the light is pretty bright. On / off time is about 20secs and I don’t think there is a way to change that but not a huge problem as they come straight back on if you move again. Have had one of them mounted out in the open getting hammered by wind and rain and ( so far – 3/4 weeks) it has withstood all that recent storms have thrown at it. Yeah – quite happy with these lights.

I’m new to lights like this but recently I’ve been thinking about security and wanted one. There are so many on the market though. This one so far I’m really pleased with. The motion is good and I’ve tested it by walking around the edge of my driveway (stealth mode!) and it spotted me. Also the light is very bright – not blinding (which is good really) but bright enough. Positioning is the trick though as you will mess around with it a bit to get the spot right. Avoiding bright street lamps etc. It is heavy with the D cell batteries in so screw it in tightly and I found getting the battery compartment on and off a bit fiddly. Otherwise though, good so far. Lets see how waterproof it is now we go into winter.

Used this in our utility room where the light switch is opposite the door. This worked well for 3 years but either the on/switch or motion sensor has become defective. The light still works but no good for my purpose. The light switch is wobbly and not a good connection.
Now ordered a second one as the light really is bright and lights up the whole room and it take 4 large batteries that last 6 months without a recharge.

  63. BarbaraEck says:

     United Kingdom

hese are umangous, quite chunky lights, but in order to take 4 d size cells I guess is normal, they are bright enough for a spotlight, but they are very focal, to illuminate a space at less than 3 meters is not great. probably to illuminate something between 5 and 10 would be ideal. the motion sensor is very very sensitive I would assume that the angle of detection is around 140 degrees. and the light works with a slightly more illuminated scene it doesn’t have to be pitch black as some users stated, so far I’m very happy with them.

  64. WinifreNull says:

     United Kingdom

I can’t comment on the battery life as I’ve only had it working for 4 days. It provides a good deal of light but positioning is key. The motion sensor picks up within 2-3 meters. I thought it might be more. Overall I’m pleased with my purchase. Significantly cheaper than having a mains fitted light, especially when you get two, and because of the positioning much more reliable than solar.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI was pleasantly surprised. The lights are larger and brighter than expected. Easy to install and can be adjusted after installation to direct the light. 20 seconds isn’t quite long enough but adequate for the 2 stepped areas in my garden to help prevent me falling over. The batteries cost 7.20 for 8 from a large discount store, can’t comment on battery life as they have only been in use a week.

    Would recommend.

Update Nov 2021 – still very happy with these lights. I’ve bought 2 more. The one nearest the door which lights up more frequently obviously used the batteries quicker but still lasted a year. I haven’t needed to replace the batteries in the other yet. No obvious weather damage. Would highly recommend 🙂

Having installed one of these at the bottom of our garden, I was so impressed I bought a second to supplement the first. It casts a genuinely bright light over a wide area. The motion detector has exactly the correct sensitivity, so that the wind doesn’t activate it, only genuine movement. 20 seconds of light is sufficent to deter any intruder, but short enough to preserve battery life, and the LED’s ensure a long battery life. This is a quality product.

Arrived next day but have only just fitted them. Very easy to fit but have only been up for two days but up to now working perfectly. Come on as soon as you are in range and stay on for about 20 seconds. Battery life I can’t comment on yet as have not been up long enough. Have had no rain yet so don’t know how they will function in the wet although it does say they are watertight. We will see. All in all very pleased up to now but early days.

These lights are Brilliant, so easy to put up didn’t take my hubby many minutes at all. They are really nice and bright and the dog sets them off just as he approaches the steps leading to the back garden, before we got these lights we had to turn on the inside lights at the back of the property to give a little bit of light on the back lawn also hubby had to go outside with a torch to shine on the steps or the dog wouldn’t dare go down them. So rounding this off, we had a fast & efficient service and would recommend and use this supplier again. The description is spot on and sensors work well and come straight on as soon as the dog goes near & they are nice & bright.

The light is sturdy and well made. It worked very well as described out of the box after the batteries were installed. There are no adjustment controls for sensitivity or duration on/off but for my application, illuminating a dark outdoor passage at the side of my house, the inbuilt sensitivity and timing fit the bill. The unit claims to be weatherproof but I stuck some waterproof tape over the joint between body and lens as extra protection. As yet I do not know how long the batteries will last but this unit provides an excellent solution to providing outdoor security lighting without costly mains installation. At the price this unit is a snip.

Golden Review Award: 23 From Our UsersI have bought a few of these over the last year or two for use at home and for my parents home. Just bought another two – one for me and one for a friend. Easy to screw into wood or fit to brickwork with the supplied screws and wall plugs. I guess the batteries last 4 – 6 months depending on time of year i.e. longer nights in Winter so they get triggered more. They give a very good bright white light. It does not stay on for long but will retrigger if whatever set them off is still in the area. Not had any quality issues to date. I prefer these to solar lights as I have found solar lights stop working eventually because water leaks around the edges of the solar panel and corrodes the electronics or we just do not get enough light during the day to charge them up properly. Battery powered is also better than mains electric lights as you don’t have the hassle of running mains power into the garden which can bring its own problems unless done safely. I certainly will be buying these again.

Golden Review Award: 17 From Our Usersbought to light the front and side of my bungalow, I had reservations as to if they would be bright enough being battery operated, but need not have worried they are brilliant they light the whole area and just tilt slightly to alter sensitivity, very pleased with product and price .

Golden Review Award: 16 From Our UsersMy neighbour purchased two Nicrew lights 6 months ago and was very impressed. The batteries are still unchanged!
Come the dark nights I purchased one light. The spread of the light is excellent as is the 20 second time which is sufficient for any purpose. Very easy to install, although I suggest a longer screw than the ones supplied, and positions in any required location to give any required coverage. I have since purchased a twin pack which gives an even better purchase price.

I am very happy with the outside light and it illuminates the pathway really well. I read some of the reviews before I bought my light that mentioned issues with the sensor not working possibly due to background light. My path really is dark and the light has worked really well. Its also sited in a place that it sheltered so water ingress isn’t really likely and access to change the batteries is fairly easy so my situation is possibly less onerous than others but I would say that I haven’t had any problems with the light and am really happy with it.

Golden Review Award: 18 From Our UsersWasn’t expecting too much but pleasantly surprised.
Very easy to still with supplied screws and raw plugs (installed mine directly into wood no problems).
Good range of movement on 2 axis with strong bolts to keep the light secure once you’ve found the best angle.
LEDs are bright and effective so is the motion detection and dark sensor. Tested it under variable light conditions and true to form it only activated once it was actually dark outside.
Overall good little security light where running a power cable just isn’t an option.

    Surprisingly Effective

I wanted the light to be facing directly forward, not quite on the horizontal but tilted only at a very slight angle downwards. This is not possible, because the back of main body casing hits against the base support, as in photos.
*However now it’s dark the one I’ve so far fitted actually works very well, detecting & covering a large area with bright light, so clearly it does not need to be pointing directly forward.*
It does not operate until it is completely dark, (ie, not at dusk) but for me that’s not really a minus point.
EDIT: after a couple of months it’s become very erratic. I’ll test to see if it’s the batteries but even if it is, they’re not cheap so that will detract from its rating.

Good, but no customer support contrary to info. Also, See Edit.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI have, today, fitted the light and am pleased with it. It lights up the area where I required extra light perfectly. I already have 2 solar powered lights covering my garden but needed extra light which was not covered by the lights I have. Could not use a solar powered light as I could not site a solar panel to get sunlight. As I’ve already said I’m very pleased with this product and recommend it. Have not rated battery life or durability as I’ve only just fitted it. However, the build quality seems ok and if the batteries last as long as other people say in there reviews I’ll be a very happy bunny.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI purchased these, intending to place one above my poorly lit front door, so when visitors arrived the light would come on (especially in winter, as it is now)…The lights work faultlessly (once I’d remembered to flick the switch inside). They are very bright (I’m wondering if they’re too bright really, but we shall see)

The plan was to use self tapping screws, and drive 3 small pilot holes in the UPVC door frame and mount one in the corner above the doorway. However, the fixing holes in the mounting cup are very narrow and deep. So some screws I’ve already got won’t work. I’m going to have to go to B&Q or a hardware shop somewhere and buy some ‘special’ sized screws to do the job.

The ‘head’ unit itself is actually quite heavy once the 4 ‘D’ sized batteries are installed so I hope it’s not too heavy for the mounting cup.

I’ll update this review once I’ve fitted the lights and they’ve been hung for a while.

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersDisappointed. Light turns on and off continuously with no movement from people, animals or bushes/trees. Added 3 days later ********The lamp was mounted 15 foot downwind of my gas boiler flue outlet and it was the heat from this that the sensor was detecting. Lamp has been resited and is now working perfectly.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersVery pleased with these units. Easy to put together and install by fixing the bracket with three screws (supplied). Nice adjustable angle good for me as the driveway slopes upwards and I have been able to angle them so they do not shine directly into the car windscreen when I drive up it in the dark. They give out a very bright light and stay on long enough to get out of the car to the front door. I have bought and additional pack as I am so pleased with them to use in the back garden. Can recommend.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our Usersso far so good. worked right out of the box once switched on. curiously there is no mention of the on off switch in the instructions.
I have two other types of these units and neither of them has an on/off switch. I saw it mentioned by an earlier review so knew to look out for it.

Very bright, much brighter than my original Mr Beams which has given good service for 2 years or so. Day /night sensors work perfectly to date. (This is the usual problem area I have experienced with budget versions of this type of unit …. many of them ( not Mr Beams ) cannot tell difference between day and night and batteries expire quickly.)
Just one other thing to note. I dislike being chased for feedback. I think 2 requests in less than a week from delivery is excessive. Why alienate customers who were probably very happy with service?
I sell some goods on the internet and I would never solicit feedback.

Golden Review Award: 22 From Our UsersI was nervous of going to a Chinese make I had never heard of but the quality is good, the light is VERY bright and casts a wide beam. The only slight issue (which is not the fault of the product) is that I wanted it for the drive where the cars are parked at night and it works wonderfully there but if the outside light in the house is on then this means that the sensor on the unit does not work as it assumes that day has arrived! To repeat this is not the fault of the product which seems very good. Recommended.
