bought to replace a more than 20 year old chair with the increased home working.
superbly adjustable and very comfortable
It’s a nice looking chair and comfortable. The instruction for putting it together are ok, not great. I had to take it apart because one of the levers didn’t work when I first assembles it. No idea why as I did the exact same thing again to put it back together and it worked fine. Overall I’d recommend it.
Chair that feels and works line those three or four times the price
So far so good, it’s a mildly tricky assembly operation, the instructions could be a bit clearer on how the back support slots in (took me a few minutes to figure it out, the end with a hole without a screw thread goes into the back)
Getting to the bolts on the base is made much easier by using the seat slide (lever F on the instructions I have) once that is done the mechanism can be slid out of the way allowing unrestricted access to the bolts. I would probably recommend attaching the four bolts you can get to easily first, pulling lever F then sliding the mechanism to put the other bolts in. The supplied allen key is the wrong shape really, while you could assemble the seat with it you’ll spend a lot of time messing around. I used a hex bolt driver instead for most of the work.
Seat is comfortable and seems sturdy enough. Hopefully I’ll remember to come back with more comments once I’ve been using it a bit more.
Took me about 15 minutes to make the chair with the included allen key. It was a bit fiddly on two of the screws under the adjustment handles but I still managed to do it (just angle the allen key). Very comfortable and easy to adjust – delivered on time which is great considering the current restrictions.
In many ways over engineered for me. I weigh quite a bit less than the maximum rated weight of this chair. But it gives comprehensive adjustments a high back and a nice upholstery. My previous history with computer chairs is most that give a high back and nice finish are so called executive chairs and tend to have synchro-tilt mechanisms which just don’t work for me. I want to be able to adjust the back and seat separately. To get the adjustments I like I have needed to buy operator chairs which tend to be low backed. This chair gives me everything I wanted. I do get the impression the range of available chairs is improving – possibly driven by gamers
First the bad: Damaged packaging. A part was missing. Fiddly to set up. No wheel stop.
The good far outweighs the bad, especially with the speed in which the company sent the missing part and made it an easy process. Once assembled correctly, this chair is extremely comfortable, and even after a year it looks good (mind you I do look after my things). The leather and cushioning has settled down well and not much maintenance is needed.
I don’t know about the fabric version, but this was a good investment for me and I’m very happy.
Good for the Sale Price! It has good quality but found the sit a bit on the tougher side! They need to make the sit a bit more comfy. Easy to put together and so far it is going well.
Excellent, really love this chair, so very comfortable, had it about 6 months now.
I spend 7 hours a day on the from of the PC and this chair is very comfortable. It gives great support for your back and arms. Good quality leather and very soft seat ! It has all the adjustments to make you feel comfortable for all day long!!
I highly recommend it !!
Office Hippo 24 Hour High Back Office Chair with Arms, Leather – Black
(I bought the Leather version)
I’ve sat on quite a few office chairs in my life, but I was quite impressed how comfortable this one is (once we managed toassemble it)
The instructions covered (only) one side of one A4 sheet, and comprised a series of outline drawings with quite sparse instructions
Luckily, I have a scanner, and was able to zoom-in and enlarge the drawings on my computer
Unfortunately, the instructions didn’t quite fit the chair – the instructions showed that We had to screw on thebrackets for the arm rests, but they were already pre-screwed onto the chair base.
The instructions also showed a choice of either a smooth, or a ribbed seat post cover, but We only had a smooth one.
When it came to screwing the mechanism with thechair controls onto the base of the chair, the supplied Allen key wouldn’t make contact with one of the screws, because the chair controls were obstructing access and the Allen key was too long.
Luckily I have my own set of Allen keys (which have a shorter dog-leg), which were able tofit into the screw head
A couple of slight niggles though:
The adjustable arm rests are “telescopic” and even though the bottom of the arm rest is steady, the top half of the arm rest wobbles when you put your arm on it.
Unless you’ve got long arms like a Gorilla, the chair controls quite far away and difficult to reach
Had this a few months now and yes it does the job
Took a bit of getting used to but certainly gives you a better posture whilst sitting
Was a real pain to put together hence the 4 stars
Its very well made, and comfortable. The cushion on my last chair became flat and was like sitting on a board, this chair has a much better cushion, like memory foam. So its firm enough not to get crushed but its still comfortable. Its got all the adjustments you could ask for. The casters are smooth also, on my last chair some of them got stuck and dragged along the floor.
Its fairly easy to put together, but bolting the base onto the cushion is a bit tricky using only the supplied allen key, since theres not enough space to keep turning it. I used a socket set with an allen key bit and an extender, it was a lot faster. Other than that its pretty straight forward and easy, but its a bit heavy, so you might need help at one or two stages of the build.
The price is good since the same chair is about 100 more expensive elsewhere (its a TC Cheetah, says on the box), so its one of the best price/performance chairs you can buy at the moment in my opinion.
