Panasonic NN-DF386BBPQ 3-in-1 Combination Microwave Oven, 1000 W, 23 Litre, Black
Energy conservation
Energy savings of 10 % are achieved during operation of the appliance because of the considerably more effective conversion of electric energy to microwave energy. In fact, energy consumption is reduced by 50% in standby mode. This saves your wallet.
More room for enjoyment
Thanks to the space-saving inverter technology, the cooking area can be expanded by about 20%. The possible increase in the size of the flat bed allows you to use larger dishes. For example, with the 27 litre product, you can now use a plate with 340 mm diameter instead of one with a 315 mm diameter. In this way, you have more space for your delicious dishes.

Quiet in operation on any of the functions.
No turntable
Drop down door.
Defrost function excellent .
Microwave fast and even , I mainly use for heating up food
Grill is not as powerful as a traditional grill, so takes a little longer.
Oven cooking not fully used this as yet, but definitely needs the preheat as recommended in the instructions otherwise takes longer to cook the food.
Easy to clean.
Instruction manual very informative
Settings easy to follow
Best microwave I have ever purchased.
Dislikes . … So far none
Had a few Panasonic combies now, this one is all round very good, quiet also. Highly recommend for one to two person use, not family who would want a 27 litre……
At last a microwave without that damnable glass turntable that I could never get to sit correctly after removing it for cleaning. It was the bane of my life, now it is gone forever.
I like the bigger capacity of the microwave and it is very quiet when cooking.
Being black all over the most irrating thing is that in our Victorian house the kitchen can be dark at times of day and frankly without illuminated keys you can’t see what buttons to press and have to guess where they are!
Love this oven so far so good the only thing you need to be aware of I find when baking the oven can be a little to hot so I need to reduce the temperature but that can happen with any new oven 5stars plus well pleased
This item arrived . On opening the microwave had obviously already been taken out of its plastic protective bag & the polystyrene packaging was broken.
It would appear that I was sent a “returned” item. The microwave seems to be working satisfactorily.
I hope that this will be reflected in any credit that you will feel is appropriate
Brought for 239 to help cook small meals instead of turning on a full-size oven. Cooked a number of things with it. Looks great but the only problem is the buttons have no backlight.
Excellent combi microwave, only downside is that the oven is not fan driven. This makes warm up quite lengthy, approx 10 minutes
I have one of these bought this one for a friend, can’t say enough, as mine has never let me down, only thing I will say brighter led’s would be nice, and interior light brighte
Came close to not buying this Microwave due to some negative reviews regarding the burning instruction labels around the door but decided to go ahead anyway as we like Panasonic products. Before using the Microwave we removed these labels which are not really needed as it turns out that the display will tell you what to do anyway. First use was to heat my soup which I forgot to cover. This was very messy, good job this oven is very easy to clean now I know why my wife wants the kitchen to herself. Easy to use, beeps when ready, even tells you when to open the door. Great oven, can easily recommend.
This is an excellent microwave, I’m really pleased with its appearance and operational use. One outstanding feature for a free-standing microwave is a pull-down door. For the 10% of us who are left-handed, it is a must and there are actually few of these products with this feature (most have right-hinged doors). Secondly, the flat bed (no turntable) is so much better – easier to clean, much more space inside and better for large dishes. Thirdly, the controls are easy to manage and clear. One tiny, tiny drawback: the door has dark glass and the internal light is dim, so if you are someone who needs to watch your food while it’s cooking (?), then put the room lights on and wear your glasses (as a previous reviewer suggested).
As someone who has had several combination microwaves I know what I expect from them. The one I bought before this went back after two weeks, it didn’t do anything very well. This one cost a few pounds more but I absolutely love it.
It has a drop down door which gives much better access. No turntable so much more choice of dishes etc. two different shelf heights for included baking tray plus a rack for grilling. Intuitive controls, easy to learn and so easy to clean.
Really pleased. We had to change position of our microwave following installation of a new kitchen. We chose the Panasonic as it is one of the few freestanding combination microwaves with a pull down door. Fits the space perfectly. Cooks really evenly with the inverter technology. Nothing we don’t like.
We use our microwave daily for Porridge, grill for cheese on Toast and to brown a Lasagne, Fish Pie and Cottage Pie. I cook lots of vegetables in it in my steamer for Microwaves and it is very good.
Not tried more yet, we are demi veg’s, so haven’t roasted any meat. It is a very versatile oven and I am trying a cake this weekend. Looks good in the kitchen as well.
We purchased this microwave as the door opens downwards. It is very easy to use (once you get used to the fact that your food does not go round as it cooks). It does produce a lot of steam, so I have a cloth I use specifically for cleaning it every time I use it. Powerful microwave. I also like the oven feature and have used this several times too. Again easy to use and cooks well too. All in all I recommend this product.
Should really be 5 stars but am disappointed in the time it takes to pre heat the oven, very slow in comparison to my previous combination oven, different make, otherwise it seems to be working well.
Only used the microwave function so far to heat up food. Lots of settings left for me to explore. Great porridge in under 3 minutes on medium power.
I like the fact that the door opens with little resistance unlike others which require so much force it almost pulls the microwave off the worktop.
Only gave 4 stars for Ease to use and Versatility because I’ve yet to explore all the functions of this microwave such as the grill and oven functions.
This is the second one of these as We found it just so easy to use, fits perfectly where it had to go. Rapid setting of time with a turnable knob, no pressing a keypad. Warning, for some reason the manufacturer insist on placing a metal coated sticker showing cook times on the top of the inside frame. On our first microwave this caused arcing across the frame to the door and caused damage. REMOVE this sticker and you should be fine.
only difficulty is cleaning the inside where heating bars are, its a very powerful microwave so be careful I crisped a couple of things before working it out. Oven is fine grill is slow but works.
I have used older models of this oven and have never been disappointed by them, they have never failed and I just upgraded to the next model for personal reasons.
This newest model is the best yet, easy to clean and more economical to run, smaller than the previous one I had but with the same cooking capacity.
Very happy in general, easy cleaning due to the flat surface and no turntable. It’s very versatile with the different functions. My only complaint and something that would have earned it 5 stars is the lack of backlighting of the controls. It is very difficult to operate even in daylight. Because I do use it for multiple functions it isn’t easy to remember where every button for every function is. If it had even had light coloured font on the buttons it would help but dark lettering on a dark coloured oven just doesn’t work for me.
I’ve not actually owned a microwave before, so nothing to compare this too, plus I didn’t expect to use it very often… yet I now use it everyday! I’ve mainly only used it for reheating food, defrosting and making porridge in the mornings, so not used any of the other features yet, but from what I can garner it seems to be quite a capable device.
I’ve not had any food related mishaps or explosions yet, but it looks like it’s easy to clean due to the flat bottom design, not to mention that it’s quite cavernous, it’s like having a Tardis sitting in the corner of the kitchen. talking of cleaning, it’s worth noting that it generally needs a wipe down inside after use as it gathers a lot of condensation inside (but maybe that’s a usual thing with microwaves, I don’t know) although that stops your kitchen steaming up I guess.
Writing this has made me peckish, maybe now is a good time to try that jacket potato recipe.
I just bought this to replace broken Russel Hobbs Combi microwave oven and I thought I’d share my initial thoughts.
The cavity is smaller than the Russel Hobbs one but due to the flat bottom and no turntable is able to take larger food items and dishes. It is more compact than the 25L Russel Hobbs giving me a little more table top room. The pull down front is great compared to the swing out one before and enables sliding out dishes to baste etc… It is easy to clean. There are auto cooking functions and combination cooking but looks limited to two modes, i.e. I don’t think you can microwave, roast and then grill as one sequence (but have yet to try all the functions). The downsides however are dim internal light when cooking and the legends of the front panel controls are unreadable in low light being a faint silver grey on a black background, I may have to label them myself. In my opinion these should/could be illuminated. I expect over time I will just know what does what and will be able to operated the oven in the dark. The Russel Hobbs had a single touch microwave on full power i.e. press start once for 30 secs, again for 1 min etc…on the Panasonic you have to select the power level and then dial the timer and then press start. All in all however I am pleased with this smart looking appliance and it matches all my other black/chrome kitchen gadgets.
Thickness… for one of the stars?
Anyway. It’s great, has 2 shelf sitings inside for when using the oven & grill features. Brilliant having all the space inside & no turntable. Relatively simple to program (everything seems to be accessible via the “microwave” button. Love the fact I can change the microwave wattage function by pressing “microwave” (also how you access “Defrost”), as this is tipped to be 1000w & most packets still call for 750/800w.
Heats food throughly, even on a plate, be careful when using plastic take away tubs plateless though, it can easily burn the food that’s closest to the bottom when from frozen, definitely recommend either defrost first or reducing wattage & using a plate.
Love love love this microwave. Looks smart and smaller than my last Panasonic which I had for 10 years (maybe more) but ideal for me. It is slightly different than my last one. No setting for Pizza or jacket potatoes but personally don’t feel that’s a big deal. I like that its a flatbed as well.
It’s slightly larger than my previous, basic, microwave but the simple lines mean it fits in to the kitchen neatly and it’s really wary to keep clean and dust free.
Having no turntable is fantastic. So much easier to use and even easier for cleaning. No turntable to constantly come off runners either.
The fold down door is really practical and I love that there is an immediate, safe surface to put hot things down on to if needed when lifting out of the oven.
Microwave at 1000 watt is powerful but I haven’t had any issues with over heating things so far.
I haven’t used the grill or grill oven combination so far but the oven is excellent. Added bonus for me that I hadn’t thought about is that the oven is always on timer so no more food burnt because of me forgetting about it! It heats up quickly and so much more economical than my previous full size gas oven.
The oven tray is solid and fits very well, and grill frame also feels robust and should last well.
Controls are very easy to use though confess to not having trued most of the fancy settings.
The oven is virtually silent in use unlike my previous gas oven that always had a fan running. With this the fan only comes on when cooking time ends and doesn’t keep run for an age. Just til you take the food out.
I followed suggestion a friend recently gave me and replaced my gas cooker with this oven microwave grill combo plus a separate, small induction hob. It is so much neater than a cooker would have been, the arrangement is great and I can lay things out to suit me. It’s so much more economical to run. Not only that but even with the price of this microwave oven it was way cheaper than very basic cookers. I am really enjoying cooking with this and feel much less guilty about wasting energy.
Very happy customer.
An excellent buy, the drop down door is of great benefit for the smaller kitchen, and above all you don’t need a pilots licence to use it, the most straightforward microwave i have ever owned, and so easy to clean.
I found the 3 in 1 oven/microwave/ grill easy to use. It is so nice having an oven at waist level and not having to bend down to cook/clean inside the oven. If there was one point to make it is that the control panel could be brighter as it is difficult to see which button to press.
Brilliant! No more having a turn table to worry about sticking and dishes getting caught because they are too big or not sitting central. There is nothing I don’t like about this microwave
What can I say. This is perfect, and I’m quite a stickler.
I spent time using just one part of the microwave at a time. E.g. a few days used the microwave, a few days used the oven and then tried the grill. It does seem confusing at first but within a few days I had mastered the basic functions. The conventional oven part cooks very well, sometimes I have the temperature a bit higher than suggested, bread, Yorkshire puddings etc. The microwave is good but as it is flatbed you may need to turn items round, I notice one side of food in my microwave doesn’t seem to get so hot. I love that it is flatbed and the door is handy if you tend to drop things, no 5 second rule needed! The grill is not as fierce as I would like but you can’t have everything. I’m very pleased with it all, it saves putting the big oven on for one person, and according to my smart meter uses less electricity
Always buy this model (or equivalent) Very good and simple to use. one quibble – this does not have AUTO cook for jacket potatoes. UPDATE. Packed up completely just out of guarantee
This is a very nice, attractive, good quality and easy to use microwave oven. It is spacious inside and I love the flatbed design. This allows me to put in large dishes and not have them banging the sides as happens with microwaves with the usual turning plate. It makes it much easier to clean too. The black colour looks very smart in my kitchen.
So far, so good. At the time of writing, we’ve had this flatbed microwave oven for just over a month and early results are pretty amazing regarding the microwave itself. I haven’t tested the ‘conventional’ oven element or the grill part yet but it’s only a matter of time, and it’s useful to know there’s a back up available in case our gas cooker decides to stop working. Having no rotating turntable is a real novelty and strange to get around initially; the brain says there should be one but the end results are pretty amazing.
We’ve experienced none of the overspills associated with a turntable microwave, presumably because the food is not being forced to go round and round and therefore less opportunity to cause a tidal wave. The cooking of rice is especially ingenious as there’s an automatic setting for it on the control panel, once the order of programming it has been memorised. The end result is the fluffiest rice we’ve ever had when cooking it in a microwave.
I was a bit concerned about ordering such a big item to be delivered, but it was well wrapped inside a well-structured cardboard box and I even think it was delivered a day or so earlier than expected. The instructions are easy enough to follow and the microwave comes with a tray (for conventional oven use) and a rack (I think for use with the grill element); the only thing missing was a sales invoice which is required by Panasonic in case of a breakdown within the one year guarantee time. A quick email to the seller via Amazon soon sorted that one out.
The microwave takes up about the same space on the kitchen worktop as our old beast, but this Panasonic does come with exacting distance measurements that could make things iffy under wall-mounted cupboards and side walls, so please bear that in mind before you buy.
All in all we are pleased with this microwave thus far, and if it lasts as long as our previous one (32 years!!) then that will easily see us out in terms of time left on this mortal coil.
Im pleased with the product. A good ample size for my smaller kitchen. Although i think a white one would look cleaner and help me to see where to clean more easily, for a black design this one still looks stylish. The flatbed technology is a lot easier, less fiddly and i enjoy using this oven. I opted for this as a disabled person who couldn’t keep up with cleaning other ones. This has room enough for small family meals, and i find i can cook various things at once. Buttons are very easy and quick to use. The door which pulls down makes it more accessible wherever i place it in the kitchen, needing less space. Excellent price too.
