Perfect size for our adult golden retriever (female) to fit through. Bought this for our garage door as our retriever refused to sleep inside her kennel.

I thought that the flap would be aluminium. As the dog chews the flap. A little disappointed. The title is incorrec

Instructions are easy to use. Easy to install. I’ve put one in a timber door and a upvc door with no problems.

Very easy to install. Bit dissapointed that it came with plastic screws, feel this is abit of a cheap thing to provide for the cost of the product. Plastic screws snap if you tighten them slightly too much. Don’t buy if you have a midframe in your door and need to use the lock, it has to be flat against the door and slid straight down. Over all a good product, however the issue with the midframe could be identified in the description.

Obviously it takes time to cut an accurate hole to fit it. It is still as new after 3 months of continuous use. Looks like it will last for ever.

It needed to have a surround placed under it as the door frame was too thin and because there is a door bar half way up the door this restricted door closure…. Best move though for us, with 3 dogs we were forever letting them in and out. Alternatively we had to leave the door open, okay in the summer but really not a good idea in the colder weather.

Large is the size for border collies, good magnet at the bottom helps to keep it shut and the seal when not in use is very handy to stop muddy feet! They got the idea in no time.

It was very easy to install, my dog has broken three dog flaps before this one, this flap is very sturdy and has not moved in the panel in the door.

Even though this was fitted to an uneven door, it was really quite simple. Just make sure that the holes drilled for the screws are straight, or you may have trouble inserting the retaining screws.

Works very well and looks very nice, the slide in panel does not fit on our door – dont think it will fit on any (non-flat) door the groove is very shallow, but we do not require that and for our use it is very nice.

The pet door was easy to install. However, I thought that it was expensive for what you actually get. There are no internal extensions for between the inside and outside doors. I had to make some from plywood, adding further to the cost.

Very happy with this. Puppy tends to chew on everything so this being aluminium it’s v resistant to this. Works great.

I bought this to save me keeping the door open for my 19 dogs and everything from a bison cross poodle, to German shepherd and all sizes in between go through it. the smaller dogs do struggle with the relatively heavy flap but to be honest that is due to their size not the product as it is meant for bigger dogs, I have simply replaced the flap with a cloth so the little dogs can pass through, it is not as efficient but again that is not the products fault it is because I have such a range of dog sizes, It has a solid drop sheet which can be locked into place if you want to either keep dogs in or out but also if you are away for your home for any time it can be installed and would make a solid door for security reasons. I was recommended this by a friend who uses the same product for their rottweiler and they have no issues, it comes with the installation details and all the bits you need, If you need a way of letting your dogs in without holding the door all day then this might well be a good option but get the size best suited for your dog unfortunately my door is not big enough to have the full range of sizes so I went for the biggest, for the biggest of the dogs and adapted it for the rest but not everyone has 19 dogs.

Allows my dog in and out with no issue. It may be that there are bad storms at the moment, but strong winds just hold it open, making the room cold.

Its a great flap, seems durable. My only problems with it is the screws supplied are plastic and break easily, i recommend heading to a local shop and buying some strong metal bolts. The plastic screw things are terrible. Also it doesnt seem to be very wind proof, makes the kitchen very cold. Wish the magnets or the sides were a lil bette

We have a UPVC door – so needed to get a man in to provide a new panel and fit this flap. He said it was a little painful to install – but the finished job is great. we went for this aluminium one, as we had ben through about 15 of the plastic flaps over the years. The most noticeable difference is the noise. It is completely silent when used – rather than the noisy plastic ones of the past. Both little and large dogs like it and use it without a problem. If the wind is blowing really hard (as it has been recently) it can blow open occasionally – however, we just put the cover on it – problem solved!

Best pet flap we have ever bought, had to buy a bigger pet flap for our elderly dog to use to let herself in and out, started with a traditional hard plastic type – she would not go through it at all, was a bit scared of it I think, tried training her but it was no good.
Saw this and thought might as well try it and result – after a couple of days of encouraging her with treats to go in and out she was happy using it all the time. It has made such a difference, no more little puddles on the floor as she will now go out through the pet flap as and when she needs to.
Only negative, it does sometimes blow open slightly in the wind and can cause a draught – but the positives out way this small negative. Wish we’d bought it ages ago

Very good quality. I have Spanish water dog and she has more than enough space with the large size. Mine is on a patio with screens in Spain so energy saving not an issue. Seems to shut reasonably securely.

Great product, I have two! When windy, it needs to be closed to help keep heat in your own. My dog loves it, no more stress when leaving him home.

Works well, my 29kg greyhound girl manages just fine with the size large. A very strong wind can blow it open but most can’t. It’s been on for 6 weeks in the middle of winter and I’ve not noticed a temperature drop or rise in heating costs. There is some condensation on the inside of the flap but as long as you put sealant around the frame it’s no real issue and to be expected. My dogs took to it after a few days of finding it scary. I do have some extra security, such as not having a thumb/turn latch, secure fence, cctv inside focused on the door, outside has a security light and I dont leave any keys out. Even if someone managed to avoid the dogs and dislocate their own shoulders to get through then anything they want still has to go back out through the flap. I also make sure the dog has an is tag just in case. I work nights and finding a dog walker for 3am is impossible lol. This gave my dogs some independence and no accidents inside! If you are in two minds about it then I’d honestly say go for it, It’s the best decision I’ve made.

Works well, easy to install and gives my dog the ability to spend more time outside!

So please with this dog flap. Because of the flexible flap it is so quiet and easy for the dogs to use. The magnetic strip keeps it closed in the strongest wind. We bought a large flap as we have a visiting Labrador, but would have just needed a medium flap if it was just for our border collies.

Aluminium unit far superior to plastic variety. Had to replace three plastic version as dogs broke them. One problem with aluminium door is the silly plastic bolts supplied which are hard to fit as thread is very tight. In the end i fitted the steel bolts and nuts supplied with the plastic door version. Door now indestructable!! I hope. Excellent product.

    Quiet and sturdy.

Being aluminium this is much sturdier and the flap is a softer flexible plastic with a quiet click that we cant hear in the house. Whereas the rigid plastic one that we had prior started to split after a year and was so loud! Even laid in bed we could hear the dogs going through it.

We have two springers and a large pet door. It is installed in a conservatory upvc panel. Its slightly too deep for the panel but some flexible gap filler did the trick.

I bought this as a replacement for my first Petsafe ‘staywell’ dog flap. The Staywell was plastic and flimsy and my GSD did not like going through it. A few times used and it had cracked.

This one is made from a flexible rubber and he’s very happy to go through it. I guess it doesn’t smack him in the face as much. I have two GSD’s one is shorter and wider and the fussy one is a taller slim dog. The large size is fine for them both, which is good because the XL wouldn’t have fit in my conservatory door. Be aware that you should leave enough of a gap when measuring for the correct size that you can slide the shutter in without hinderance when you want to close/ lock the flap.

It doesn’t keep the weather out particularly well (we get a lot of rain in Mid Wales though!) The wind does whistle through it, probably more so than the original plastic one, but then if you’re going to cut a hole in your door you have to accept a bit of weather!

Overall I’d definitely recommend it, although it’s quite expensive for what it is – a hole in a door!

I don’t dislike this door, it’s very easy for the dog to use, looks nice and suits how we allow dog access to the garden.

There are issues, firstly if you have a UPVC door with any kind of moulding around where you will put the door the security flap won’t work and you will have to build out an inch or so with wood to clear the moulding. The plastic screws are rubbish, had to buy replacements to get decent fit and security.

A lot of other reviews say that it will blow open in the wind, initially this is true, and my review used to agree, however now it’s been 6 months and the plastic has become less rigid with use this is not an issue, in all the latest storms it rarely blows open and if it does normally removing hair from the fur linings and putting in place fixes the problem.
