I buy Hue products for reliability and quality. this does not fail in either respect, they are a premium product at a premium price imo. These are easu=y to add to a room in the huw=e app, really happy with them
These are absolutely better quality than many of the plethora of strip leds out there. They give off a decent amount of light per metre and have done what I bought them to do(ontop of kitchen cabinets as mood uplighting) you need to download the app to operate and requires buying a hub if you want to synchronise multiples. They are at the high end on pricing for what they are though, however I’ve bought cheap before and had failures in components so I’m hoping these will fair better, time will tell I’ll update review after reasonable usage.
Love the Philips Hue Gradient Lightstrip effects and it’s easy to setup, various beautiful gradient color effects can be set on the Philips Hue app, connection with Philips Hue Bridge are very stable, works well with Google Assistant.
Smart lighting is already in the consumer market for almost 10 years, I truly hope Philips Hue products price can be more affordable, it’s too expensive still compare to other brands which has similar features.
Overall, I’m delighted the purchase. Hope I could add more Philips Hue lightings to my home in the future with more affordable prices.
Philips Hue fan from Malaysia
I bought these lights plus the dimmer switch v2 and there are things customers should really be clearly told, but is nearly impossible to find anywhere.
The lights and dimmer switch will work with each other (using Bluetooth), but unless you have or buy a Philips hue Bridge, the lights will only display just four different colours (scenes as Philips call them) when the Hue button on the switch is pressed. These are inbuilt within the dimmer switch and cannot be changed from a Philips Bluetooth App that you might run on a Mobile or Tablet. To be clear, the Philips Bluetooth App does allow you to select the huge range of colours the light can generate, but only from within the App which will connect to the lights. There is no way to transfer these different colours to the dimmer switch Hue button.
So, pressing the dimmer switch Hue button will only ever let you have the four colour choices that comes with it to select from. They are all pretty similar too — three whitish and one yellowish.
If you want your dimmer switch to be able to store and allow you to select five scenes of your choosing using the huge range of colour these lights can offer, you must purchase a Philips Hue Bridge. That uses wi-fi and importantly, the wi-fi version of the Philips App (unlike the Bluetooth App) lets you connect to the dimmer switch, which is what lets you give it the colours that you want the Hue button to select for you.
So, once I purchased the Bridge, I finally managed to get the dimmer switch to give the five colours I wanted and now I am very happy with the result.
Finally, an important truth you may want to consider is that, although you can enjoy using an App to play with changing the lights, you quickly tire of it and realise that you only ever really want a few choices most of the time. The dimmer switch is brilliant at that and so much easier than getting out a phone or tablet and messing around in a fiddly App. On that basis, I’d seriously recommend getting a Bridge when buying this product, although it can be fiddly to set up. I’d recommend having someone who understands routers and IP addresses on standby in case of issues.

I have added these strip lights to my new kitchen. They were easy to install and have really added something to the look of the kitchen. They all work on my phone or wall switches and you can have whatever colour combinations you want. They are expensive but I think worth it.

You know what you’re getting with a Hue lightstrip, great light, great smart home connectivity and pants adhesion. However I needed 8 individual lightstrips for a recent project so naturally jumped at the chance to buy 6 of them at 20 cheaper from Amazon warehouse. The first had been cut and only received 90cm of lightstrip, the second flashed on and off and refused to be found by multiple devices, the next 2 were perfect however the final 2 both have colour faults (red or green lights when the rest white etc). Luckily I only need 150cm of the strip so they’re still usable but some quality control is badly needed.

All Hue stuff is quality gear but it’s not the cheapest.
Really pleased

Very happy about this product, have had it for months now and it is still working as it should.

Great lights to brighten up just about anywhere. Five Stars
Highly recommended
Relatively easy to install, good bright lighting. Adhesion slowly starting to give way after just a few months of being installed on a flat, clean surface.

Philips Hue Lightstrip Extension v4 [1 m]
This isn’t the cheapest LED light strip available. Having said that it’s made by Philips so it’s definitely a quality product. This particular product is the add-on one metre extension kit, that needs the base set in order to work.

This was a gift for my brother for Christmas and he loves it!
I bought this light strip along with the 1 metre extension, to go around the back of the TV. I already have a few Hue bulbs, light bars and lamps (Hue Go), and importantly a Hue Bridge, all integrated with Alexa. While this light strip can be controlled via Bluetooth, I would definitely recommend a Bridge, for added features and control.
The only thing stopping this getting five stars is the sticky backing, which isn’t the best. It’s also a little difficult to get it around the corners of the TV (it won’t lie flat when cornering). You can cut and join with a small corner piece (there’s only one in the box), but it’s a bit of a faff. Plus, although there’s there’s little scissor markers to indicate where to cut the lightstrip, I was a little nervous about doing that!! I’ve added little pieces of double sided sticky tape to help with the stickiness – let’s see how that lasts. So far, so good – after one of week of use.
The light strip really needs to be hidden behind something (the TV in my use case), such as a valance piece if going around a ceiling edge, or under kitchen cabinets if that’s where you want it, otherwise you can see each individual LED. Once hidden, it gives out merged light – if you see what I mean. For my use case, it’s perfect behind the TV – as long as it stays stuck!!

I have loads of Hue lights. These strips go on the top of my kitchen units, underneath my kitchen units, and now on the back of my TV. They are terrific. I absolutely love them. Always best to place them so that they are near a surface and that they are hidden from direct sight.
They work superbly. And the extension is such a great bonus. Very excellent lighting. I think that they are absolutely great.

For the premium price you pay for this lightship, the adhesion is very bad. Glue is coming off from the strip easily and it doesn’t fully attach in some places. Other than that not too bad, brightness is average, not as bright as they make it look on YouTube. In my opinion best thing about this strip is the hue mobile app.. otherwise I would go with cheaper lightstrips

The light stripe in itself is certainly much higher quality than others in the market but you do also pay at least 3-4 times more. I have put it up in a window which arches so nice and flexible for that job. Of course if you already have a hue bridge then this makes this even better. Though what truly is dissappointing is the adhesive tape. For this quality and money this should be superb but it is nothing but! Much to be asked for here. Ended up buying some separate two sided tape (Tiger Tape) which did the trick but I should not have had to.

I’m a big fan of Hue. Colours are beautiful, easy to install in the app (app is excellent as well). Not cheap but you get what you pay for. I buy them in the sales etc. The strip is the biggest difference in quality here. I replaced a Govee strip at the back of my desk and I stead of a weak light it just pops. Kids love the colours too!

Update – opted for replacement instead of refund and plugged the new lightstrip in switched on and it worked. Opened the app and it found it first time. Kids managed to work the colours from Alexa which they thought was cool, so all appears good. One star dropped for issue with first product. Is expensive when not on offer but worth it with the change it gives to the room.

Tend to find Philips hue products are a hit or miss if they work. Given the price you would think it would be a simple plug and play but I’ve always had numerous problems trying to get them to connect to the bridge.
Bought the lightstrip while on Black Friday deal and it just doesn’t connect. Have tried inputting the serial number and switching off all other devices to avoid interference but to no avail.
Upshot is will be sending it back. Unfortunately once you have forked out for the bridge you are committed to their products.

I used one pack to backlight my TV (50 inch) & it looks incredible & I use it most days. I’m also a big fan of the app you can download to change the colours & switch the product on remotely.
My only qualm was that this product doesn’t stick well to the corners of the TV. It’s very rigid & difficult to bend so when bending it to go around the edges of the TV I found they kept pinging off. I stuck the corners down with masking tape for a few weeks & then removed it, which seemed to fix this.

Hue itself is brilliant and I use it all around the home. I have been after the lightstrip got some time but only recently decided to make the purchase.
Easy to set up but the tape is a pain to remove the backing from. Not just that… The worst thing? Philips, as big a company it is, use some RIDICULOUS tape. Barely sticks at all and peels off in parts.
Buy it, sure. But just get some better tape or use superglue on top if possible.

Tried some cheap Chinese versions but they all felt quite dangerous ! This is really great quality and feels like a safe product. The app is great too. Worth the money for peace of mind perhaps
This pairs very easily with my smart hub, is an awesome addition to my living room scenes. Very bright, very easy to use. I haven’t used the adhesive tape, as I run it around my skirting at floor level.
Great light. Works well. Adhesion is not the best, and will need some additional tape to hold in place, but easy fix.
We used them for under our bed and they look lovely
It was bought for my husband’s study, n it’s very effective
I have a growing number of Philips Hue products but this has, by far, been the most disappointing purchase to date. However, when I say ‘most disappointing’, that is testament to how good the rest of the range is as everything I have bought before has been spot-on.
Really, the main issue is the adhesive on the back of the lights. However, when the sole reason for purchase was to stick them to a surface, this ‘small’ issue becomes a fairly huge one. The Philips Hue play light comes with a 3M adhesive sticker and I am shocked the same has not been done for this product. Adhesion to surface – despite being well-cleaned and dried – failed within minutes. Luckily, I have some very strong double sided tape that I was able to use in a pinch, though it certainly spoils the aesthetic. However, no one is going to be scrutinising under the counter (I hope!), and the lights still look excellent.
I wouldn’t let the rubbish adhesive put you off buying, but maybe put some strong double sided tape in your basket as well!!!
Works reasonably well. A few connection issues originally but resetting to factory settings fixed that. My main disappointment though is the lack of options with the light show it would be nice if the colours could cycle, or you could have different parts of the strip different colours, to give a gradient. But no, all the same colour, and fixed colour. Philips could have done more here.

I wanted a cool and innovative light solution for the desk in my gaming room/office and I’ve heard things from Philips regarding their Hue line. I did have to purchase a Hue bridge for this to function but overall the ability to pair this with the Amazon Alexa Echo and control the strip through your voice is more useful than you think.
Brightness really shocked me, it’s super bright on white and all colours, definitely a huge one-up to the cheaper brand LEDs on my celing at the moment.
Flaw: The main flaw is the adhesive, I already understood this issue before purchasing however the way I have applied the strip means that it isn’t going to peel off and is supported externally. The adhesive is honestly poor and for such a big brand like Philips you’d expect it to be 3M. Don’t let this flaw take away every other point of the strip, they are worth your money, but go into purchasing these with this in mind, it’s not a deal breaker, but you may have issues if not supported correctly. Maybe wait for the next generation!

Excellent strip and easy to setup. I wish it sticks slightly better but I’m happy with the build quality.
Colour range is really good and adjustable with the app or if you use the desktop app, it can sync or can adjust on there.
Desktop app works great and syncs well with the colours on screen. Easy to install and setup. Links in with Alexa still which is useful.
Purchased for bedroom to complement the hue bulbs in the beside lights and ceiling light of our bedroom. Some lovely scenes to relax too.
Works as expected for a premium product.
Amazon did send me a V3 strip light rather than the V4 as advertised which I never noticed until after fitting – don’t need Bluetooth for this install so no issue and Amazon did compensate appropriately for not sending the correct item. Win win – well done Amazon Customer Support.
Do wish the Hue ecosystem was cheaper as it gets expensive once you get hooked in!

First Hue Light Strip. I have the Hue Bars, and one of the E27 Light Bulbs.
I had cheaper light strips in the past that are compatible with the Hue Bridge that did not last very long.
However, once I installed the Phillips Hue Strip Plus, you can definitely tell the difference in terms of build quality, and you can tell they would last long. Premium quality.
I’ll be coming back to keep this review updated.
These are brilliant and generate a lot of lumens. Ideal for a room without enough light fittings like my attic. For the same price i could have paid an electrician to fit a proper light but whatever, hue lights are an indulgence and I know it !
The responsiveness and hues are fantastic and I sync these with the pc for gaming and lightshow for the kids using hue dynamic app.
Downsides are the adhesion is weak, this makes them removable but they will pull the paint off if you do. The natural warmth of the strip will cause the adhesive to soften and they regularly pull away ( i mounted on ceiling) but they have not fallen off in 2 months. They can be tricky to install if you have any corners and you obviously need a plug.

Be catering if you are looking to add extension pieces to this 2m main unit … the “connector” design has changed within the space of a year!!!!
So annoying!!!!
No set up on the back of a 3-monitor gaming rig and light up the whole wall behind. Debated getting a ‘cheaper version’ of these lights but now very pleased I bought these. Never have any fault, very bright, work perfectly with the app every time, and even respond to in-game sounds and actions! Amazing fun, happy with purchase.
At first we did have some teething problems (we cut the cable where we shouldn’t have but managed to fix it eventually…), it was still really easy to install and works really well in my bedroom. Would love to purchase more sets like this to brighten up my room and keep the house lit up.
Really easy to install. Bought extension cable and splitter to link two strips. The plug into the controller is different to the others. In the end I cut the 2m cable to 1 meter and cut off the strip at the cut mark by the plug. Used the provided connector to then join the plug to the 1m length that had a socket on the end. I could then connect the extension cable into this strip and into the strip under the other cupboards. If you get the plugs around the wrong way the strip won’t light.
The product works really well with smart assistant (Google Home) and sync well with music and fits around a door frame amazingly well and the stickiness is great too.
I love Phillips hue and have it all over the property. These strip lights are easy to instal, has great staying power and most importantly the brightness of the lights is second to none! Well worth the investme
Love Hue, have got 20+ Hue lights around house. Got this strip to put at back of desk, doesn’t stick amazingly well – prob due to it not being a smooth surface it’s sticking to (cut chipboard). The sticky strips are very annoying – there’s lots of 10cm strips instead of 1 very long strip, so takes ages to pull off each sticker and apply. Once on is great, but will prob need to restick at some poi

Really good quality as you would expect from hue, on the pricey side but you do get what you pay for love this produc
Easy to fit, very bright light with many customisable colour options.
Too expensive by far but I cant help myself. Just when you got used to v3, they scrap it with no interfaces. Litaccessory comes to the rescue.
Pros and technicalities:
Ovetall Very easy, simple and convenient setup. Easy to integrate with Alexa.
Great product from Philips Hue. 5 stars
You Must have downloaded P Hue app (Android, iOS) before installation.
1. Plug Hue bridge into power source
2. Attach bridge with rj45 cable to your network or router.
3. Open app on phone. It automatically detects Bridge, then updates it.
4. Beware it takes quite some time to update! (approximately 15 min)
5. Attach striplight to power
6. Search for Hue lights in app.
7. App detects striplight (very easy, first time, no lag, smooth)
8. Once integrated, it can be named whatever you like. Jojo, rattle, bindi, we settled for Griffin!
App now updates Striplight (expect another 15 min to complete it).
9. App integrates with Amazon Echo Alexa seamlessly and works smooth with voice commands.
10. You can name the Room and lights in that room, so I guess you can add as many rooms (as you can spend) and lights in each room. (Total 50 with each Bridge as per manual).
11. You can set scenes and ask alexa eg: ‘turn savana sunset in room 1’, Perfect
12. You can set routines, timings when light to
come and go with sunset and sunrise etc etc
Cons and ideas for improvements:
1. Slightly less user friendly for complex settings ie setting routines and grouping lights in each room and then the whole house.
It could be improved by adding icons instead of too much prose, (like somfy TaHoma app)
2. Voice commands for Echo: It wouldn’t work if you say ‘Set Savanna sunset Scene in Room1’, instead you have to be Specific and say ‘Turn Savanna sunset in room 1’.
3. Setting routines could be simplified: one example is you want lights control to be activated at night time commwncing with sunset and switch off with sunrise. This could be more user friendly in the Hue app as current a bit complex set up.
Finally the price of the Hue lights is ridiculously HIGH, you pay a premium, (though no doubt Hue lights are amazing!).
Probably it is due to lack of competition but in modern era soon expect other competitors with at par quality of lights and app to get into the ring… can Amazon start making its own colorful lights?!

This is the second strip that I buy, and I guarantee that it will give the perfect touch that u are looking for. Great colours and brightness that u can adjust accordingly! Brilliant!
Just quality I’ve bought this to replace a govee light strip which failed before they were a year old for the second time and what hit me was how much better quality the Phillips hue light strip is buy this product with confidence you won’t be disappointed
Bright with very good white light colours and extremely easy to set up, they’re expensive but compared to cheaper one’s I’ve tried to the app setup is just much simpler and an overall better experience with no issues.
I’d never used any product like this before, but they’ve added a fantastic, modern, elegant light solution to my home office, which really enhances the atmosphere. They’re so easy to set up, just peeled off the backing of the adhesive and press them on to the back edge of my desk. I have a Philips Hue Bridge, so connecting and controlling them via the app was easy.
I used 3 main units and extended them where required for each light area. The longest is 4m and we’ve had no problems.
We have them all wired to a wall switch and use it as a normal light. We don’t really play about with the sterling’s or colours so but the app does work fine on the phone.
I’ve used it to refresh an old IKEA floor lamp, by coiling the step surround the central support. Very effective! And unique….
It is perfect for the job. It is linked into my Hue bridge with the other lights in that room
his product is really bright and I love the colours you can make from this! the best product ever! the Phillips hue app is very efficient and I am looking into getting a front door light! will definitely recommend to people and buy more products in the futur. the adhesive is very sticky so it won’t budge. the only downside is the pricing so I wouldn’t do my whole room with the led light strip. overall it is very bright and it is amazing!!
To start I will add I am invested in the HUE ecosystem, I have about 40 lighting items from bulbs to strips in the home. I broke one of my 2m lightstrip without bluetooth functionality so picked up a pair of these 2m kits to replace them and add another one in a different spot. First off the strip itself has a slightly different coating on it compared to last gen, not better or worse, just different which does not seem to impact the brightness or anything. The backing uses broadly similar sticking material which is okay(ish) but in some areas may need some additional fasteners.
Where it deviates is the little box. Prior to this gen, the 2m strip was fused into the little control box. Not the case here, you can detach the box from the light strip. The lightstrip end does still terminate in a bulky part, but at least the item can be separated so if you want to extend the distance between the box and light strip it is an option. I will add however, the box itself has been made a fair bit smaller anyways in all dimensions so its less obtrusive anyways. Aside from that in the box you get the power cable and wall socket which comes with interchangeable UK / EU plug out.
Now the biggest difference is the end point connections are NOT the same. so in my case where I had the extension kit for the prior strip, these will not connect to this kit. This 2m Bluetooth strip now has a new 1m extension strip you will need to pick up as the pinouts are different and not something I initially realised so had to pick up some 1m extension kits. Not seen an accessory thus far to convert this or anything. Tried to show this in attached video and pictures.
So far I have talked about differences, but how is it as an actual item? in actual use its simple, Bluetooth functionality worked surprisingly easy and was straight forward, my phone found it without an issue when testing. However as most my items are connected to my Hue Bridge, this item went down the same route as its part of a larger ecosystem. In that case it works perfect, synced with my bridge and does perfect. The are bright / vivid and clean. paired with the app, you have a plethora of options available. Do NOTE, unlike other competing strips, the entire strip will be the same colour, some strips can have a rainbow like pattern on them whereby down the length of the strip you can have a different colour. Not an issue for myself however, usually will set the same colour palette in a room.
I will add a slight nuance with these strips, you will see each lighting section consisted of 3 diodes. They each turn on in varying brightness to produce the color you want. However if you have the strip pushed up very close to the wall to provide ambient lighting, you may notice the light emitting from each diode. Not specific to this version of the Hue strip, but something to keep in mind. It only needs to be about 7-8cm away from the wall to become a none issue.
So in all, the strip is expensive, but look around as can be had for slightly cheaper. it works perfectly fine, has some nice improvements, but the step back in terms of different connectors is a pain and annoyance. The smaller box and detachable nature of the cable along with the bluetooth functionality are some nice additions, the change to pinouts are an annoyance however of you have existing extension strips from the non-bluetooth versions.
